In this episode I debunk the recurring media claim that your zodiac sign has changed by explaining the 2,000-year history of why western astrologers have deliberately used the tropical zodiac. Every few years, headlines circulate claiming that your zodiac sign has changed due to the precession of the equinoxes. Following a recent New York Times article making this claim, I decided to set the record straight. In this episode of The Astrology Podcast, I explain the history behind this recurring narrative and demonstrate why these claims are misleading. We'll explore the difference between the three zodiacs (constellational, sidereal, and tropical) and show how Western astrologers, starting with Claudius Ptolemy nearly 2,000 years ago, made a deliberate and conscious choice to use the tropical zodiac, which is aligned with the seasons, not the constellations. This is not a recent mistake or discovery; it's a foundational principle of the Western astrological tradition that has been understood for centuries by history's most prominent astrologers and astronomers. We will also touch on the issue of the so-called 13th sign, Ophiuchus, and why it doesn't apply to the system most Western astrologers use. My goal is to clarify the history so that you can better understand why your zodiac sign has not changed and feel more equipped to respond to these arguments. Dr. James Cassidy speaks at the Reformed Forum Annual Theology Conference, held at Lakeland Church in Gurnee, Illinois on September 27, 2025. The lecture, titled "The Seed of Abraham, Christ in the patriarchs and the promise" by Dr. James Cassidy, addresses the common theological perception that New Testament authors, particularly the Apostle Paul in Galatians 3, give a "surprise ending" to the Old Testament, seemingly reading it against its original intent. Dr. Cassidy argues against this view by showing that the Abrahamic Covenant is fundamentally a covenant of grace, centered on Christ as the singular "offspring" of promise. He explains that the promise is both individual (Christ himself) and collective (all those redeemed through him from every nation), a subtlety Paul rightly handles without misinterpreting Genesis. Crucially, the address highlights that the subsequent giving of the Mosaic Law 430 years later did not and could not annul the original promise of justification by faith, thereby maintaining the primacy and immutability of God's covenant of grace. Alyshia and I go way back, and this conversation feels like sitting down with a sister to unpack the beautiful, messy process of growth. We talk about the “itchy” seasons that come before transformation, how success evolves with age and awareness, and the power of embracing stillness instead of forcing clarity. Alyshia shares how she's learning to define success on her own terms, welcome the valleys with grace, and release patterns of people-pleasing to make room for deeper, more authentic relationships. And, and when you kind of catch yourself trying to sand the edges of your decision making process, your soul, what you're okay with, what you're not okay with, to kind of fit something that no longer fits, then how do you give yourself the permission to accept that? Because a lot of people want to avoid that because it is grief. It is loss. It is you coming to terms and being honest with the fact that, oh, maybe I'm not supposed to be in a relationship with this person anymore. Maybe I'm not supposed to be friends with this person anymore. Maybe I'm not supposed to work with this person anymore.” - Julie Solomon  “  There's a deepening to my relationships, not only with my work, but with people, places and things, is just really learning how to show more of myself. Drawing from real DMs and community questions, HeHe pulls back the curtain on how baby size is estimated (spoiler: it's often way off), what true macrosomia really means, and why the risks around shoulder dystocia are often exaggerated. She shares the birth positions, mindset shifts, and advocacy tools that help parents stay calm, confident, and in control, no matter what their provider says about baby's size. You'll also hear about her brand new course, Birthing Your Big Ass Baby, created to help you ditch the fear, trust your body, and birth your baby (no matter their size) with total confidence. The global landscape of education and work is changing at a pace that requires an entirely new approach to measurement. Trending in Education host Mike Palmer welcomes Amit Sevak, CEO of ETS (Educational Testing Service), the organization responsible for millions of assessments worldwide, to discuss the high-stakes transformation of how we identify talent. We explore how the trillion-dollar education sector is struggling to measure outcomes and why reliable data is essential to driving progress. Amit details the foundational work ETS is doing across K-12, higher education, and the workforce to shift the focus from traditional testing to competency-based learning and work-ready skills. We dive deep into the urgency of establishing an AI literacy framework and how technology is powering a new era of "test-less" performance assessments. Why You Should Listen Now: The War for AI Talent: Amit explains why the lack of a common AI literacy framework is a strategic challenge for the U.S. and how other nations are already standardizing AI education for young children. The Crisis of Underemployment: We break down the alarming statistics showing high unemployment and underemployment for new college graduates, highlighting the massive societal and economic pressure to measure job-relevant skills. The Future of Measurement: We get an inside look at how ETS is using AI, data science, and neuroscience to create innovative, personalized assessments that track complex skills like collaboration and communication—moving beyond the multiple-choice bubble sheet. 3 Key Takeaways from Our Conversation: AI Literacy is a New Language: We must introduce the fundamentals of AI to pre-elementary and elementary students to hardwire it as a first language, similar to English or Spanish. Data is the "New Oil": ETS produces over 5 billion data points annually, representing an amazing opportunity to reimagine products and drive social value through technology. The Two-by-Two of Transformation: The future of assessment is moving to measure both emerging skills (like AI and durable skills) and using innovative measurement methods (like performance and AI-enabled assessments). Join us to understand how better measurement is the key to unlocking human potential globally. Like what you hear?
