In today's episode, we chatted with David Voorhies from the Left Brained Artist YouTube channel. We talk about how he has grown his community around an idea or thought that people might have. What it means to be a YouTube creator, how he schedules his content, how much money he's making from content creation, and SO much more! About David David is a Computer Technology guy by trade, but he has always enjoyed watching other people create art. In 2019, he started seeing acrylic paint pouring on social media and decided to try it for himself and was immediately hooked. There wasn't a lot of information on how to paint pour though, so he started the Leftbrainedartist blog in 2018 and a YouTube channel in 2020. Without question, Jensine Reeder is a lover of all people. The Greenville, SC, resident has a reputation for giving and pouring into others. She has intentionally made limitless connections across the beauty, technology, and nonprofit sectors and provided hope and opportunities while doing so. Jensine's story reflects the life of someone who has refused to be denied or misled. She shares, “Family has always been important to me. I grew up in Greenville, SC, as the oldest of five siblings, and Southern Baptist ideals shaped my adolescent identity. While the church offered community, support, and love, it also led me to believe that money, specifically desiring money, is bad. I scraped by for years to make ends meet. I hoarded basic supplies like toilet paper and worked tirelessly for less than minimum wage to feed myself and my family. My efforts kept us fed, and we were alive but not truly living. I knew deep in my bones that I was capable of more, and we deserved more.” Jensine says her career and entrepreneurship journeys taught her that wealth is not inherently evil. “I learned that money is neither good nor bad but simply a tool. What matters is how you use it. Money provides stability and offers opportunities. I wanted to allow my children to pursue their education, dreams, and passions and access the best care and resources money could buy. Furthermore, I never wanted my children to feel the suffocating fear of living paycheck to paycheck. So, I carved out a new career path for myself and climbed from minimum wage jobs to a salaried position,” she says. However, little did she know her journey out of poverty had only begun. Today, Jensine owns Source Unlimited LLC, a consulting firm dedicated to connecting small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and corporations with the resources necessary to thrive professionally. “We offer nonprofit IT consulting services to ensure data collection procedures are efficient and accompanied by effective workflow processes,” Jensine says. “That enhanced efficiency better positions organizations for additional funding opportunities and enables organizations to tell their stories.” One of the services offered by The Source Unlimited is Professional Nonprofit IT Consulting. Her goal is to ensure data collection software and procedures are efficient and accompanied by effective workflow processes. “This positions the organization for additional funding opportunities,” she says. Another product offered is Elevation Coaching™, designed for small business professionals, which offers small business establishment for Limited Liability Corporation (LLC), Incorporation (Inc), Sole Proprietorship, and Nonprofit (501(c)(3) establishment. Additionally, they offer coaching with a phased approach to growing their clients' businesses. Another product offered, which is designed for individuals, is Elevation Coaching™. Jensine asks, “Are you ready for your elevation journey? We offer a process to tap into your highest self and elevate your thinking about yourself, your purpose, and your life! My services are for anyone with a vision to start or expand their business and who needs guidance, support, and accountability.” Jensine's creative side is displayed with Goddess Wraps by Jensine™, which was launched in 2021. She hand-makes vibrant satin-lined headwraps with 100% Cotton Ankara fabric lined with high-quality satin. She says the line resulted from her doing some soul-searching and learning what her life's purpose was. Annually, a portion of their sales are donated to organizations that focus on raising awareness about breast cancer and alopecia. Additionally, Jensine provides virtual and in-person wrap services for photoshoots, date nights, weddings, birthday celebrations, anniversary events, and more. Jensine says her journey in poverty began in 2012 while working as a paralegal at a private law firm. She overheard a conversation between the attorneys about a client who didn't understand their life of poverty. At that moment, Jensine learned there was a difference between being poor and being in poverty. “I was in shock because, according to my family and friends, I was doing well for myself because I had a good job, a car, and was renting a home. I then researched what career I could transition to in order to increase my income to make enough money to be above the federal poverty line,” she says. Her next move was returning to college to get her degree in Computer Technology at Greenville Technical College. While being a full-time student, she worked on campus in the Engineering and Technology computer lab, an experience that allowed her to sharpen her skills and gain professional experience. Jensine shares that with the support of her family, friends, and church members, she graduated with honors in 2014 with a degree in Computer Technology. Continuing her educational journey as a working mother required great personal sacrifice, Jensine confesses, but she was ready to pursue a career in technology. She soon started her consulting business, The Source Unlimited. In no time, doors began to open in her favor. Jensine says, “The United Way of Greenville County was searching for a Database Administrator. I applied and got the contract, and that seven-year opportunity helped me find my niche within the technology field. I also assisted over 222 Greenville County nonprofits with acquiring over $4 million in grant funding.” She was off and running, and The Source Unlimited LLC was birthed in 2014. Jensine's new career helped her purchase her first home in 2015. “My children and I were so happy to have a place to call home,” she says. Her children also inspired her to share her story with others and pursue public speaking engagements throughout the Upstate community. When asked what she loves most about her journey in business, Jensine says it's the opportunities she has to mentor entrepreneurs, business owners, executives, and professionals. She enjoys transforming their lives, careers, and mindsets through the power of radical self-discovery, self-care, and self-love. “I also love the opportunity to honor my Afro-Indigenous heritage with Goddess Wraps by Jensine.” Jensine emphasizes that external success cannot exist without internal success, and when she reflects on the fear, anger, and grief that consumed her at the beginning of her journey, she's overwhelmed with joy. “I cherish and appreciate the peace, prosperity, and stability my family knows now. I am also humbled by the blessings God placed in my life,” she said. Jensine thanks the members of her community for their constant support. She also thanks her mother for always breathing life into her vision. “Thank you, Mom, for being the wind beneath my wings!” Her advice to others who may follow in her footsteps is simple. “Life will never be without trials and tribulations, but we are strong, creative, and gifted enough to turn those trials and tribulations into something more. Whether it takes a year, a decade, or multiple decades, you can transform your life. You have everything you need within you to start and succeed.” The future looks very bright for this savvy businesswoman. Jensine's businesses and brands are growing, and soon she will launch a new men's line at the beginning of 2024. Co-founder and former chief technology officer of cloud company Confluent, Neha Narkhede's journey from Pune to the Silicon Valley, and from a software engineer to Forbes' list was quite phenomenal. And why she is in the news now. With a net worth estimated at 13,380 crore rupees, Narkhede has been ranked eighth in the Leading Wealthy Women 2021 list compiled by Hurun. She can now count herself among the likes of HCL Technologies chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra, who topped the Hurun list for the second year in a row, Falguni Nayar, the promoter of FSN E-Commerce, and Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw of Biocon. Narkhede was raised in Pune, Maharashtra. By way of her own account to the press, we know the source of her inspiration in her formative years. So it is no surprise then that she decided to break into the male-dominated tech sector. Narkhede first went to the University of Pune and received her Bachelor of Science in Engineering from SCTR'S Pune Institute of Computer Technology college. In 2006, she left India to get her master's in computer science from Georgia Tech. After graduating in 2007, she started a job at Oracle. After Oracle, Narkhede worked as a software engineer at LinkedIn, where she was involved in the development of Apache Kafka, an open-source messaging system designed to handle the networking site's large data input. This would prove to be a pivotal point in her coming entrepreneurial life. It was in 2014 that she and two LinkedIn colleagues left the company to found Confluent. Now, let us know about the company. Headquartered in Mountain View, in California in the United States, Confluent offers organisations an Apache Kafka-based streaming platform that enables them to easily access data in the form of real-time streams.

Anatoly Shalyto is a Russian scientist, Doctor of Science, Professor of computer science, and the Head of the Department of Programming Technologies at ITMO University. In 2008, he was awarded by the Government of the Russian Federation for achievements in the field of education. Also, by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of March 15, 2018, Anatoly was awarded a state award - the badge of distinction "For mentoring". This honorary award, established by Vladimir Putin's decree of March 2, 2018, was awarded for the first time to three people in the country, including Anatoly. This award recognizes services in the professional development and mentoring of young professionals. Since 1991, ITMO University has created a powerful school for training the world's best programmers according to ICPC (ITMO University is the only seven-time champion of this championship in the world). Anatoly has been teaching at ITMO University since 1998 at the Departments of Computer Technology and Programming Technologies. Through the efforts of the organizers of this direction, Vladimir Vasiliev and Vladimir Parfenov, with the active participation of Anatoly and his colleagues in the university have grown a group of outstanding software developers who have created the world's first 4G communicator (Yota by Skartel), the Kotlin programming language (the second official programming language for Android applications) and cryptocurrency software Cardano. Thanks to the scientific school they created, ITMO University ranked 56th in the Times Higher Education ranking in computer science in 2016, 76th in 2017, 71st in 2018, 74th in 2019, and 74th in 2021 in this nomination according to the QS World University Ranking. However, Professor Shalyto considers his main achievement to be his initiative to retain the most talented students at the university after graduation. Now at ITMO University, next to Parfenov and Shalyto, five champions and two prize-winners of the ICPC world programming championships are constantly working, as well as a large number of other young and talented scientists who successfully carry out research in such areas as bioinformatics and systems biology, machine learning, evolutionary computation, discrete optimization, programming technologies, including Automata-Based Programming. Artificial Intelligence, automation, robotics and computer science technologies continue to advance at an amazing pace. Should Christians fear these technologies as a direct assault on our identity and moral values? Or should we fully embrace them, along with their promise of providing healthier, better lives? Or something in between? How can/should Christians be involved with the creation and the shepherding of AI and other advanced computer technologies? We tackle some of these questions and more in our fascinating interview with computer scientist, Professor Derek Schuurman. After graduating with BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from University of Waterloo and a PhD from McMaster University, Prof. Schuurman spent many years working in technology before joining academia as a professor at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Katy is a UX and Product Designer based in Boulder, Colorado where she runs her company Two's Complement. Katy double-majored in Industrial/Interaction Design and Computer Technology at Syracuse. Her first job out of school was with NASA where she worked on a wide range of projects including the International Space Apps Challenge and Random Hacks of Kindness. She went on to form a 3-D printing company, funded by several high-profile Kickstarter campaigns. In our conversation, we discuss many different topics, from the power of openness, based on her experiences with NASA and her printing company- how these open systems create possibilities that would not have been possible if the software is owned and its use restricted and limited. We talk about how Design Fiction is a powerful tool to help us imagine and design for a potential future. The new level of importance for thinking and a consciousness about the design and engineering choices that are made - with the arrival of AI, but also the environment as a new and vital consideration for digital designers. We discuss, her Five-Step Process for design thinking, that includes workshopping based on likely potential futures to find new solutions. Throughout the conversation, we talk about the process of innovation, how big companies need to embrace the small and how the US has had a history of waves of change and is probably due for another Moon Shot-like wave to help solve the urgent environmental crisis.

Stacie Stamper is the Commercial Marketing Associate for CertaPro Painters of Duluth & Norcross. She has a diverse background, but she has always been an advocate for reducing construction's carbon footprint by diverting construction and demolition waste from landfills. "The appreciation for things out in the industry … sitting in warehouses, storage units, garages … the things kept piling up … people didn't want to throw them away, but they didn't know what to do with them.” -Stacie Stamper She is the creator of the “Follow the LEEDer initiative.” In this initiative she introduces the concept of a 'deconstruction' contractor. This new type of contractor would remove materials for reuse and recycle as opposed to a demolition contractor that removes materials for disposal. With the creation of the Masterformat 2018, recycle and salvage vendors, liquidators, materials brokers, reuse retailers and manufacturers will be able to bid on salvaged waste from construction sites. She volunteers as a Project Manager for the Gwinnett Habitat for Humanity. She has been a board member at Global Paint for Charity since 2012. Stacie received her BS in Computer Science and Computer Technology from Indiana State University. The Ah-Ha Moment It was working with Habitat for Humanity projects where Stacie Stamper became more aware about sustainability and started to understand the importance of conservation. Working there opened Stacie's eyes to the opportunity of reusing materials from a job site. Before that Stacie had an interior design studio. The space this firm occupied was in a 200 year old historic building. Her firm took it, refurbished it, and the creativity with reusing materials was born through this experience. The Recycling Challenge Some states have not figured out how to recycle used materials like paint although some states have a system in place that pays for itself. In California, paint is taxed by the gallon as a service charge and this pays for the recycling program. By paying up front, people are able to return the unused paint “free of charge” to have it recycled. "My day job filters into my passion project which is ‘To rally the industry and bring people into the movement who can identify where the materials are. Then, we can engage before construction starts and have time to manage and plan the diversion.'” - Stacie Stamper Expanding Recycle and Salvage Codes Inviting the procurement vendors to the table is the biggest change the industry is facing. If these vendors knew all materials were available prior to starting the project, they could come in and bid like contractors. Re-education is needed in the our industry to work with the construction industry. "The word for 2018 is collaboration … it's not just one industry that needs to take responsibility” - Stacie Stamper Stacie shares an example of how as a painting contractor, she was able to reuse store fixtures marked for garbage and instead found a way to have this “waste” be reused to serve multiple purposes. At Habitat Restore the materials were sold to generate proceeds for families in need and as a contractor Stacie earned a tax receipt for the donation and reduced her waste disposal fees. • How to effectively use social media marketing • Social Media Platforms that will help grow your business • How to target and build online communities Batya Maman is a true entrepreneur. Born in Israel of Moroccan descent, this Jewish mother of three is an inspiration to many. She prides herself in being a mother of two beautiful daughters, and a son who is currently serving in the military. Batya moved to the United States in February 2003 to pursue her passions and dreams in America, the Land of Opportunity. Since that time, she has taught herself English and opened several lucrative businesses. Prior to relocating to Florida, Batya was a computer technology teacher in Israel; she now uses those skills to master the social media market and to teach others. Her company trains, maintains and consultants clients, ranging from manufacturing to charitable organizations, on how to get the best results from their social media efforts. For the first seven years in the U.S., Batya was successful in creating a Home and Office Organizational business plus a Renovation and Commercial Cleaning company. She also established herself as a trusted and knowledgeable personal concierge for home and business owners. Batya has proven herself as a diversified entrepreneur, successful in many endeavors. Although, Batya’s primary childhood language is Hebrew, she also speaks Arabic. She has been quoted in saying, “I love language and upon arriving in America I taught myself the language of the United States. “I am now speaking English, it is a privilege.” Batya has used her schooling and formal training in the computer sciences to advance her business career in the U.S. In Israel, she earned her degrees in Education and Teaching in the field of Computer Technology as her major concentration. She began her business career in Florida in the real estate related industry with her renovation and cleaning services, but when the Real Estate market changed, so did Batya. Being a savvy entrepreneur, she saw social media as a natural transition since she had the knowledge and abilities, from her education background, to create a new business venture. Being an innovative individual of entrepreneurial spirit, which is what brought Batya to America in the first place, she reinvented herself. Her business did not happen overnight; Batya looked for a business opportunity that would lend itself to her education. She did market research and saw a trend in Public Relations and Marketing that was moving more towards Social Media. Batya jumped on the opportunity and created her company, Social Connect, and has excelled as an expert in Social Media, SEO/SEM (Search Engine Marketing), Mobile Sites, Applications and Web Site Design. This is truly a passion for Batya and all of her clients agree! Batya Maman has an impeccable reputation and is well-respected in the community. From her businesses success as a home and office organizer, renovation specialist, and now the CEO of Social Connect, success has traveled with her. As her clients agree, Batya is a diversified, successful business woman who is excited about new ventures and new clients. Batya Maman is a Social Media and Communications specialist and uses Social Media as a tool to connect between P2P (peer to peer) and B2B (business to business).
