Jeanne Simpson moved to New York after graduating. She started doing day jobs in New York City to make ends meet while attending free dance classes, which allowed her to continue her training without having to pay for grad school. She eventually joined the American Isadora Dance Company, a modern company. Beginning a Career in the Performing Arts Jeanne began her acting career at HB Studios, where she was given a scholarship and studied under Austin Pendleton, a talented teacher who taught the advanced Acting Program at HB. She worked with other amazing actors and learned to choreograph scenes with them. This experience led her to work on original college shows and she choreographed for various shows. In addition to acting, she also taught at a dance studio in Park Slope, Brooklyn, before being offered her first professional choreography job where she choreographed a birthday cake song for a series on Nickelodeon and was subsequently hired for the series. This was her first professional choreography job which led to several others on films. A Volunteer in Performing Arts Programs Jeanne started volunteering at the 52nd Street Project in New York, which takes kids from Hell's Kitchen and lets them experience the transformative power of theater. They take them out of town to enjoy nature and rehearse plays with the kids, then perform the plays in Hell's Kitchen. This experience continues to inspire her belief that the performing arts can change lives, even if it doesn't lead to acting or dance. Jeanne has continued to work with the 52nd Street Project. Her experiences in the performing arts have had a profound impact on her life and she continues to inspire others to pursue their passions in the performing arts. Working in Television and Film She worked on a show called Wishbone, which was shooting in Texas. After leaving Wishbone, she returned to New York where she ended up doing more choreography jobs, and acting jobs, and getting married. She and her husband moved from New York to Los Angeles and Jeanne jobs teaching dance and theater, and worked for Princeton Review and IV West. She auditioned for Tim Robbins Actors Gang, a theater company, she worked there and eventually choreographed for the Grand Guignol company. Then she started auditioning for television and found an agent with Avalon Artists Group. Jeanne earned parts on several TV shows, including Madman, Parks and Rec, and How to Get Away with Murder. The couple moved to Valley Village, where they still live today, and they had a second child, Vivian.  Arts Programs and Community Theater She started working with a community arts theater, an all-inclusive arts program that offers various classes and activities for children. She started a camp called Make Them Laugh classic comedy camp with her husband and another comedy writer, introducing classic comedy to a new generation of kids. She later taught at Berklee School, where she teaches improv and has directed at Harvard. She also teaches a dance class at Evolution Dance Studios called Big Shots. She is currently directing a production of Anything Gos with four or five and six-year-olds, and she has also choreographed a rock opera movie musical called The Promise. While she still auditions, Jeanne also tutors kids on their essays to get into schools, which has become an accidental side business. Their house is like Grand Central Station, filled with people of all ages, which they love. The journey has been a rollercoaster ride, but she is grateful for the opportunities it brings. Pursuing Acting and Choreography Jeanne discusses her experiences as an in-school ambassador for the National Young Arts Foundation and how she started dancing at age five and how her mother helped and inspired her. She talks about the different modes of acting, acting, dancing, teaching, and choreography. Acting and choreography are the two that bring the most happiness, as they allow them to be present and happy. Directing drives her insane, but as an actor and choreographer, she can let go and be present. Choreography is also fun because it allows her to share her vision with others, and learn from others, creating a collaborative experience. A Choreographer's Process As a choreographer, Jeanne starts with the story, which is essential for their dances to convey something and then, of course, the music. She also considers the style of dance, the capabilities of her dancers, and their potential. She then develops steps that grow out of this story, making it easier to remember. Jeanne shares the example of her Saturday morning class routine. Jeanne also discusses her process and how choreographers keep their thoughts straight in their heads. She uses choreographers notation, which is mainly used as a step notation, but she also writes down the story when she does a piece.  The Importance of Relationships in the Performing Arts Jeanne shares her experiences with relationships in the performing arts industry, highlighting the importance of connections and connections in her life. She shares stories of various projects and connections, such as working on a Broadway musical project called Three, where she was hired to choreograph one of the shows and supervise all others. She also mentions her involvement in a community theater that taught children at a public elementary school, where she taught and was recommended by a vocal coach for her kids. Influential Harvard Professors and Courses Jeanne credits James Davis, her sociology professor, for her interest in studying people and trends. Davis was supportive and kind, attending every play and dance concert she performed. She also mentions Arthur Holmberg and Jian Guo, who was a mentor, where she learned about professional theater companies. As he describes in his own words: "The 2 constants in my life growing up as an 80's kid of divorce were food and movies. Always eat well even if broke as if there was no tomorrow and always killing time when spending time with each of my parents separately at the movies. I remember seeing ET Tango and Cash and Jurasic park with my dad and I can also remember seeing What dreams may come and Titanic with my mother. A few years ago one of my films screened in the very same theater that I saw my first movie in San Diego with my mother in 15 years earlier. I have always wanted to make movies and make people laugh and began my journey in NY in the 90's studying at the legendary HB STUDIOS while I began with thoughts of becoming an actor I later realized what I really wanted to do was direct...Many years later after talking about it I became friends with Brian and we started making movies. This is how far we have come so far but I plan to keep making movies big and small as my art as long as I can" The story of 2AM Burrito is described in the episode, where Luis has been the producer of "Blacklisted", "Slap Worthy", "Alien Story" and "Vicious Meats", between other great productions. His story with music is wide, it starts with Tango and ends in Hip-Hop, and during the episode we will highlight the songs that resonates with him the most. Amazing conversation, and a life lesson for everyone. Beautiful journey. Thanks for coming to the show. Website: www.2amburrito.com Twitter: @bigchiefburrito

Regional: A Midsummer Nights Dream; The Night of the Iguana; Desire Under the Elms. Film & T.V includes Anthony Arkin's “Sender”; “Things Like This”(upcoming); “I Am Michael”; “Stand Clear of the Closing Doors”; “Coming Up Roses”; “Leaves of Grass”; “The Paper”; “Bull”; “Mindhunter”; “The O.A.”; “Alpha House”; “Third Watch”; “Law&Order”/“Law&Order Criminal Intent”; “A Dog Year”(HBO) “My Louisiana Sky”(Showtime). Amelia has been an acting coach since 2005. She co-created the audition workshop “What's Stopping You?” with Jack Doulin at HB Studios. She also co-created the groundbreaking on-set/on camera workshop “Being On Camera” with Anthony Arkin, which they have been teaching together since 2012. They currently teach their workshops at Primary Stages school ESPA. Amelia teaches at Pace University in their FTVC B.F.A. Acting program. What makes Amelia nervous about auditions: Expectations for what good means What is your personal best? Rejection is constant That little voice still shows up "The biggest thing you have to sell is yourself." Humans are messy and flawed, and you have to remember as an actor you have to be that too. Prepping for an audition: First step: Script analysis Start to get a sense of what I'm wearing and hair Shoes can even help Read it and move around You have to think of an audition as your role for the time you are working on it “Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever has.” Learn to apologize less. Tips for Newbie Actors: Pay attention You don't know everything Be interested and curious Want to learn and grow Choose to grow into the best version of yourself What is that? What does that look like? It's ok to be new and it's ok not to say anything. When in doubt leave it out. Listen and absorb.

Laura Buckles is an American actress and producer-writer. Originally from Denver Colorado, she has been in the film industry with titles such as “The Bold and The Beautiful”, “Mad Men”, and “Isolation In”. She also hosts a podcast called "Says Who?" where she interviews real working actors about their lives and careers and what it's like to be a working actor in the entertainment industry. She is currently living in the Los Angeles area. She is a writer-producer and actor. She will do almost anything in the Indigent in the entertainment industry. She is also an improv actor in a company here in Los Angeles. They've been going strong for winning seasons. She grew up partially in Denver, some time in Pakistan but mostly in England. Living overseas while growing up instilled in her a love of travel and an appreciation for culture and art, as well as the ability to overpack for any occasion. She has studied at Second City, Sears and Switzer, HB Studios, and Neighborhood Playhouse. She started acting at 2 months old when she embraced non-traditional casting by accepting the role of baby Jesus in her family's live nativity scene (...fine, she slept through most of it). Her three-year run was cut short when at the age of 2, baby Jesus left the manager in search of chocolate chip cookies and excitement. She also has a set trained Jack Russell named Milo. When neither of us is on set, they're looking for sunny spots to lie in, adventures to go on, and a (you guessed it) good cookie or two. I'm a Blubrry affiliate, but that's not the only reason I'm telling you this. I've been using Blubrry Podcasting as my hosting service for my podcast for years and it's one of the best decisions I ever made. They give great customer service, you're in complete control of your own podcast, you can run it from your own website, and it just takes a lot of the work out of podcasting for me. I find for that reason that it's a company that I can get behind 100% and say, "You should try this." Try Blubrry. It doesn't require a long-term contract, and it's just a great company, period. It also has free technical support by email, video, and phone, so you can get a human being there. Isn't that nice? If you want to podcast, try out Blubrry. No long-term contract, excellent distribution, and great technical support, too, by email, video, and on the phone. I've included an affiliate link on this blog. Here's a downloadable copy of the interview. Debbi: Hi, again, everyone. Today, I have as my guest, the author of a series of thrillers featuring a New York City detective, Lt. John Driscoll. His work has been translated for publication in at least six countries outside the US. He's also a native New Yorker, so that's a plus because so am I. I'm pleased to have with me today, Thomas O'Callaghan. Hi, Thomas. Thomas: Hello, Debbi. Debbi: I'm so glad you're here today. Thomas: Yeah, nice to be here. Very nice to be here. Debbi: Awesome. I love your bookshelf there in the background. It's so neat and beautiful. Thomas: Thank you very much. Debbi: I wish my shelves were so beautiful. Thomas: Thank you. Debbi: What prompted you to write this series? Thomas: Interesting question. I never thought of writing. In college, I studied history and planned on perhaps going to law school. After that, I began working for an insurance company, Allstate Insurance Company, and I had a pretty good career with them, sales agent. Everything was going well and I figured I'd retire as a sales agent, only I didn't think I'd retire at the age of 49. They changed the way they paid us, and if I wanted to stay on, it meant I was no longer an employee, but I was a franchise agent and I had to pay for secretarial help and other support staff and whatnot. The option was to sell my book of business and leave or retire or stay on as a franchise, so I sold my book of business, and that carried me for about three years. Thomas: But at age 49, I needed something to do. I spoke to a friend of mine who had a similar circumstance. She asked me what did I like to do. If you're going to have a second career, it might be something you might like doing. I said, "Well, I like to take photographs." This was before the advent of the old iPhone. I had an old 35-millimeter camera and I went out and I snapped some pictures. I lived near Prospect Park in Brooklyn at the time and I snapped some pictures and I enjoyed it. Thomas: The enthusiasm waned after about a month and I said to her, I said, "Well, it's not a career choice." She said, "Well, what else do you like to do?" I said, "Well, to be honest with you, I always thought I'd be an actor." I wanted to be a thespian when I was in high school and in college and I performed in theater groups and I did some off-Broadway shows. I said, "That's what I'd like to do," so she recommended I go down and have some training because it had been a while and I went to HB Studios down in Manhattan and that was fun, two months working with a group of other actors and some professional trainers. Thomas: I enjoyed it very much, but again,

As a comedian, he appeared on many of the talk shows, worked in Las Vegas, as well as many corporate gigs and performing arts centers. He's also a member of the acclaimed Actors Studio where he appeared in many stage productions.  Part One of ‘The Power of Yes with Entertainer Tony Russell’ Anthony Russell has parlayed an extensive talent for music into an acting career that includes stage, film and television productions. Tony’s parents were already into music before he got into the creative entertainment space. He was named after his father who often performed at wedding celebrations. He had memories of harmonizing old songs together with his family; that’s how involved they are into music.   As a child, Russell played harmonica, ukulele, guitar, trombone and piano. He worked his way through college playing and singing in a show band. After graduating Montclair State College with a major in trombone and a minor in piano, his band was booked as a Las Vegas lounge act in many of the major hotels. Russell even worked in the Atlantic City 500 Club where Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis first got together as a team.  “I was 63 years old when I got on the Bonnie Hunt show.” – Tony Russell Tony shares some of his tragic memories when he was young. The attack on Pearl Harbor happened, his father's brother, who was also his best friend, got killed in the war. It was back in 1941 when a surprise military strike by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service upon the United States against the naval base at Pearl Harbor took place in Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii. Part Two of ‘The Power of Yes with Entertainer Tony Russell’ Anthony (Tony) Russell originally from Newark, New Jersey, came to Hollywood in 1967 to pursue a career in show business. Tony is multi-faceted being an actor, stand-up comedian, singer, musician, composer and nightclub entertainer. He came into prominence as “Tony Russo'' on the ABC Television Network's hilarious sitcom, "Life with Bonnie" starring Bonnie Hunt.  “Do you have a vision that you want to emerge?” – Dianne A. Allen  Encouraged by his best friend who recognized his talents, Russell journeyed to New York to study acting at HB Studios and eventually earned a coveted membership in the acclaimed Actors Studio. He appeared in four of the group's stage productions, and was also in the cast of "Lamppost Reunion'' which won the best ensemble acting award at the Court Theater in Hollywood. The PurposeGirl Podcast: Empowering women to live their purpose with courage, joy, and fierce self-love.

That inner voice is calling to you – will you answer? Inside each of us is the call of the Goddess, or as I like to say, a purpose; something we were all meant to do and meant to be. This call is powerful beyond measure, and if you listen to it and really pay attention to what is being told to you, it will not only guide your life, but provide the opportunity, too. This has manifested for me in creating PurposeGirls – my calling is to inspire, and to light women up. Today's incredible, passionate, brilliant guest has listened to her calling – as she says – from the moment she could think. Nicole Ansari is an award-winning actor, director, writer and producer who has been living her purpose since before she even knew it was an active decision to do so. When you live in alignment, the opportunities come – and Nicole is the living example of that happening. In this episode, Nicole and I talk about: Nicole's incredible journey of discovering her calling, answering the damn phone, and living it every day. How to learn to understand the signals you are getting – both internal and external - so you can find and live in your own calling and purpose. Positive evidence of someone who has found success – even in a potentially challenging industry! – living in her purpose, so you know you can also live in yours. Juicy details about Nicole's newest project:   About Nicole Ansari: Nicole Ansari's professional life began in her teens as an actor in Tatort, an iconic German Cop TV series. Ansari studied with the late legendary Uta Hagen, of HB Studios, with Susan Batson at the Actors Studio in NYC and at the Stage School of Dance and Drama in Hamburg. After two feature films for German TV, her first professional engagement was with the Repertory company Neumarkt Theater in Zurich. Following this, she joined the famed Théâtre du Soleil under the direction of Ariane Mnouchkine, in Paris and on a European tour. Her next steps led to being a guest star at the Public Theatre in Vienna in leading roles, multiple arthouse movies and TV shows, including HBO's Deadwood. She continued on to London's West End and Broadway, performing with her husband Brian Cox, and eventually creating a home base in New York. Ansari co-produced two feature Films; “Blumenthal”, a comedy in the New York Theatre world, starring her husband Brian Cox and the thriller “As Good As Dead” with Andy McDowell. Adding to her CV as Co-producer + director, is the short documentary “Padim at PS3” about the Arts program in a NYC public school and the web series “Messy”. Messy has garnered numerous awards on the festival circuit including Best Director and Best Dramedy at the British Web Awards; Best Web Series at the NY International Film Awards, and best Web Series at the Chicago Independent Film Awards. As a director, Nicole also worked with the Rubin Museum of Art and NY Women in Film. Ansari's lifelong interest in the healing arts brought her to study and train with some of the great teachers of our time. She is a certified Yoga Therapist, Kundalini Yoga, Pre and Postnatal Yoga Instructor, a Life Coach, Theta healing practitioner and a feminine movement teacher. She also has an online Hemp business. Storytelling, for her, is a healing art and she has been merging her interests in helping others to live a passionate life fueled by their wild, authentic self. Nicole has created ACTORS RISING, a program for actors and speakers merging the spiritual path with the Arts. A couple of weeks ago we did an interview with a classical musician who told us how important the online environment is to musicians. With live performances cancelled, the online world is the only way for them to reach their audiences. Today we hear from a director of photography in the film world who says that musicians are keeping film makers busy. And before that we take a dive into the world of video gaming. We wanted to include video game designers in this series because, first of all, it's an example of an industry that hasn't been hard hit by the pandemic. With so many people at home, the video gaming industry is booming.  Stephan Reilly is a professional game designer, semi-professional writer and a self described completely amateur human trying his best to pay rent and make cool stuff. He is originally from Ontario, but has relocated to Halifax.  Follow along with his shenanigans on Twitter @StephanReilly. Heather Cleveland is a game designer at HB Studios. She spent four years earning her bachelors in game design at Sheridan College in Ontario. After graduating in the spring of 2020 she packed up her life and moved to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and entered the video game industry as it shifted to remote work. She's been working from home since the beginning of pandemic. An interesting side note -- she started her job after the pandemic started, so she's never met some of her colleagues in person because nobody is going in to the office. She says she wouldn't recognize some of them if she ran into them in the grocery store. And for the final interview, host Victoria Fenner caught up with Gabriela Vanden by phone while she was waiting for a train in Churchill, Manitoba, back on November 19. Gabriela tell us what she was doing way up there and why she was waiting for the train to take her back to Toronto. And also how she's been able to use COVID downtime for some reflection, rest and recharging.  She's created some innovative projects too. Gabriela is a Venezuelan/Canadian cinematographer based in Toronto Canada. With a background in visual arts, she uses her intuitive esthetic sense to elevate the narrative of the projects she works on, whether that be documentary or fiction films. Volcano (2019) directed by Karen Moore and shot by Gabriela was selected and premiered at TIFF. Her work has screened at Hot Docs Canadian International Film Festival, Images festival and has been distributed by CBC, NFB, and TV5.  Her talent has led to opportunities outside of Canada, including the U.S., South America, Europe and Asia. Her cinematography thesis The Rambler (2016) was selected to screen at CAMERIMAGE and won her an internship shadowing Phedon Papamicheal ASC GSC on Alexander Payne's Downsizing where she worked as a camera trainee on the Norway division of the 73-day shoot. She graduated from York University with a bachelor of fine Arts in honours film production.  Images:  Heather Cleveland, Stephan Reilly, Gabriela Vanden. Used with permission. "I talk with veteran actor, write, producer, and teacher on his life in the art of acting." Inside the Episode with Mitch Hampton: "The diverse group of guests on our podcast encompass both those I have never met and only know from their work in what you might consider a "public" sense. Then there are those guests whom I have had the good fortune to know personally. I have never gotten to know the actor Austin Pendleton in a personal manner but I know for sure my first conscious awareness of him was most probably from his role in the Peter Bogdonavich masterpiece What's Up Doc (1972), which I saw on the big screen at the age of six, with Barbara Streisand and Ryan O'Neal. I was not so fortunate to have seen his early 1970s musical or theatre work, yet it feel like I have seen him in so many television and movie productions as well as on Broadway (Doubles comes to mind from the 80s) and my now father produced his play Orson's Shadow, that I can confidently say that he has been such a large part of the world of both theaters, movies and t.v. that I feel that I grew up with him to the extent that one can group up with a "named actor." I never dreamed I would have had the opportunity to speak with him on this context in my own podcast. Austin Pendleton is, among many other things, what sometimes people call the real deal. He is one of the greatest living actors, period, regardless of genre or style of production. He is also beloved as a teacher of acting and playwright and director in his own right. It is always an honor to be able to talk to someone who cells at what they do artistically, especially if they are as generous as is Austin, as well a clear about his own life experiences and what they have meant to him. " Austin's Bio Austin has appeared on, off and off-off Broadway, in such productions as The Diary of Anne Frank (with Natalie Portman), Fiddler on the Roof (the original cast, with Zero Mostel), Doubles (with Ron Leibman), Educating Rita (with Laurie Metcalf), Mother Courage (with Meryl Streep), Romeo and Juliet (with Lauren Ambrose), The Last Sweet Days of Isaac (for which he won an Obie and a Drama Desk Award), Hail Scrawdyke (for which he won the Clarence Derwent Award, a production directed by Alan Arkin), and in such roles as Richard III, Richard II, Hamlet, Uncle Vanya, Shylock and many others. He is also an Ensemble member at the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago and has acted and directed there and in many other regional theatres. He has acted in over 100 film and television shows. Film credits include My Cousin Vinny, A Beautiful Mind, 2 Days in the Valley, Finding Nemo, Searching for Bobby Fisher, Catch-22, The Muppet Movie, and many more. Television credits include Homicide, Oz, Law and Order, Life on Mars, Miami Vice and many other shows. His Broadway directing credits include Spoils of War, The Runner Stumbles, and a Tony nomination for directing Elizabeth Taylor and Maureen Stapleton in The Little Foxes. His three plays (all published and all widely produced) are Orson's Shadow, Uncle Bob, and Booth; he has also written the book for a new musical called A Minister's Wife, in 2009 at Writers' Theatre in Glencoe, Illinois, and scheduled for production next spring at Lincoln Center in NY. He is the star of Everyone's Carol, as Ebenezer Scrooge. He teaches acting at HB Studio in New York. The Life & Times of Video Games

In 1990, in a bid to move ahead of their rivals, Access Software reinvented virtual golf. The AIG Women's British Open is front and centre for the show this week as we discuss the remarkable victory at Royal Troon by Sophia Popov. Dustin Johnson also gets our attention for his -30 performance at TPC Boston and we try to figure out if it was boring or tremendous. While Dustin's play looked like a video game, we brought in actual video game people for this week's feature interview. Joining us for unprecedented insight into the new PGA TOUR 2K21 game that has everyone's attention is John McCarthy of HB Studios, the Canadian developer based in Nova Scotia. As the Senior Audio Engineer, John shares some cool details from behind the scenes. Along for the show is CBS Sports broadcaster Luke Elvy. The Aussie, who is a veteran of twelve Masters tournaments and dozens of majors, lends his voice to the game as a commentator and shares what he and booth partner Rich Beem added to the game. We play a "who said it" quote game, and in the mail bag take on questions about the life span of golf shoes, if Dustin Johnson cares more about wins or money, when we think the no-fan policy will end in pro golf, and who do we think among the the current crop of women and men pros would still excel with golf equipment from 100 years ago. Turn your scars into your superpower! ***** Scott St. Patrick discusses his experience as an actor recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). He speaks about how it has affected him as an actor and shifted his outlook on life.  ABOUT SCOTT: Scott St. Patrick is an American writer and actor from Westchester, NY. Classically trained, Scott has studied with such stalwarts in theatre like Deena Levy, Trudy Steibl, and Rochelle Oliver at HB Studios. His passion and studies have led him to work with major repertoire theatres on and off Broadway; including starring in the smash faith based production, “Laid Off” at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2009, Scott has appeared in a variety of commercials, Independent films, and theatre productions. However, his staple has been the production of his spellbinding, one-man play, “Act God” which was executive produced by mentor and friend Don B. Welch.  In addition to acting, Scott has a strong passion for bringing awareness to social issues through his writing. The recent shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, two black men shot and killed by law enforcement in 2016, prompted Scott to write the controversial play Minority Report in September of 2016. Whether you found us from Forbes, Inc Magazine, CEO Magazine, CIO, New Theory, or elsewhere, we're thrilled you are listening. Through hearing the inspiring stories and tips from the greats, we will all find it easier to stay motivated. After majoring in Radio Broadcasting at Long Island University back in 2000, Joe interned for a few stations, most notably the ‘Mike and the Mad Dog Show’ on WFAN with Chris Russo and Mike Francesa. From there, Joe truly fell in love with radio. However, there was no such thing as a podcast back then. If you wanted to break into radio back then, you better be prepared to move to Iowa or Indiana to start out. Joe was also doing stand-up all over Manhattan and taking acting classes at HB Studios in the West Village. He was going on auditions with my black and white headshots, doing stand-up, and interning at my favorite radio station.  After graduation, He decided to move to LA. Joe thought why stay in the cold NY when he could be doing the exact same thing in beautiful weather. He remembers going on AOL and searching for apartments and there was palm trees all over the place. If you remember AOL’s dial-up-service, then you remember how long it took one picture to download! He put $300 down on an apartment in Burbank, CA, and my move in date was in two months.   Joe had approximately one month left in NY when he was told some ‘shocking’ news. A former girlfriend of mine was pregnant.   He had to set my radio dreams aside and decided to attend Law School. After successfully passing the NY Bar Exam, I worked as a prosecutor at the Suffolk DA’s Office on Long Island. After a few years as a prosecutor, he decided to start my own practice (cozzolaw.com), make some money, and get back on the mic! He has been hosting The Joe Cozzo Show since 2015. It’s a show about life, helping others achieve their goals, and being brutally honest.   Website: https://thejoecozzoshow.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thejoecozzoshow/ Podbean: http://joecozzo.podbean.com/ Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-joe-cozzo-show iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-joe-cozzo-show/id968538790?mt=2

Nearly three years have passed since HB Studios debuted The Golf Club and now its sequel has just released. This episode of the Press Row Podcast examines The Golf Club 2 with discussion on its ultra-realistic gameplay, improvements to accessibility, new features, and unfortunate server problems. Other topics covered during the show include patch restrictions on the Nintendo Switch discovered through NBA Playgrounds' struggles to get an update out that could threaten post-release support on the system, and whether selling special editions of games that release several days before the standard editions is an incentive to buy the former or a punishment for spending less on the latter. ONE HEAT MINUTE is the podcast examining Michael Mann's 1995 L.A crime opus HEAT minute by minute. In this very special bonus episode, the only man (besides Michael Mann) to connect HEAT and L.A Takedown joins host Blake Howard to talk about his small and unforgettable role as Ralph, Xander Berkely. Blake and Xander discuss being in the orbit of Michael Mann and casting director Bonnie Timmerman since a guest-starring role on Miami Vice, illuminating Blake on the evolution of pilot “Hannah” into “L.A Takedown,” modelling his Waingro’s physicality on the infamous Hillside Strangler and even throws in a Pacino “SIDDOWN.”GUEST BIOXander BerkeleyXander's father was a painter and his mother a school teacher who sewed, providing him with costumes (his preference over toys). School plays and Community Theater were next. An experimental theater troupe in the area (which was an offshoot from Joseph Chaikin's Open Theater in New York) took Xander under their wing when he was 16. He credits this group for shaping him as both a person and an actor, committed to taking risks and remaining open to the unknown. Xander went to Hampshire College, the progressive brainchild of Smith, Mt. Holyoke, Amherst, and the University of Massachusetts. He would continue in the theater at Hampshire, studying and doing plays at each of the other schools, all of which were there in the area.A move to New York after college brought him access to private teachers from the Royal Academy of the Arts, the Moscow Arts Theater and HB Studios. Later in Los Angeles, Xander would spend time with Lee Strasberg at The Actor's Studio during the last years of his life.Xander worked in Regional and Repertory Theaters in addition to off-Broadway while living in New York but, despite a classically trained theater background, he was increasingly drawn to the subtleties of film acting. A play, written by the great southern novelist Reynolds Price, called "Early Dark" had such a cinematic feel to it, that an agent saw the film acting potential in Xander and encouraged him to make the move out west.Soon Mommie Dearest (1981) provided Xander with his film debut in the role of "Christopher Crawford", and simultaneously gave his career a slightly cultish twist. Alex Cox with Sid and Nancy (1986), James Cameron with Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Bernard Rose with Candyman (1992), Todd Haynes with Safe (1995), Mike Figgis with Leaving Las Vegas (1995), Andrew Niccol with Gattaca (1997) all helped to further associate Xander as an actor in his own rather unusual category.Xander's choices were often determined by the opportunity to learn from directors he admired, certainly all those listed above fell into that category. Clint Eastwood with The Rookie (1990), Ron Howard with Apollo 13 (1995), Rob Reiner with A Few Good Men (1992), Michael Mann with Heat (1995), Wolfgang Petersen with Air Force One (1997), Steven Spielberg with Amistad (1997) are obvious examples of others Xander actively sought to work with and learn from. From obscure independent movies where Xander could play lead roles to the big budget studio movies where he might often play smaller character-driven parts, an education was taking place. Just as working with older directors like Michael Cacoyannis on The Cherry Orchard (1999) and Robert M. Young on Human Error (2004) (aka "Human Error") brought insights to ways of working that are being lost in pop cultures tendency to slide toward slickness. Not to mention bringing him to places like Bulgaria and China along the way.Perhaps because a life in the foreign services, or espionage was seen as a road not taken, living on location in foreign countries, working as an actor, has somewhat fulfilled the impulse. As early as 1987, a film took Xander to Nicaragua while the Contra War was taking place. It was during this three month shoot on the film Walker (1987) (starring Ed Harris) that Xander got an offer to do a film with his friend, director Jon Hess, in Chile for the following three months. Taking him straight from the revolutionary left-wing Sandanistas to Pinochet's fascist, right-wing regime. In 2001, an offer came in to play a part on a TV pilot called 24 (2001). It was another shady agent-type, and reluctant to repeat his performance from Air Force One (1997) as the turncoat secret serviceman, Xander almost passed on the job. Fortunately for him, he said yes. He met his future wife, Sarah Clarke during the first day of filming. His character, "George Mason", was just a guest star in the pilot, but the producers liked what Xander brought to it and continued to write more episodes for him. By the second season, it had become perhaps the most interesting, leveled character Xander had ever gotten to play. Sarah and Xander were married in 2002 and had their daughters, Olwyn in 2006 and Rowan in 2010.Other favorite roles of late have been "Arlen Pavich", the middle management dweeb, in Niki Caro's North Country (2005), and the Irish hooligan/railway foreman in David Von Ancken's Seraphim Falls (2006) and, more recently, "The King of Sodom" in Harold Ramis' Year One (2009), "Sonny" in David Pomes' Cook County (2008), the recovering meth head coming out of prison to discover the life he had left (and destroyed), and crazy "Uncle Doug" in David Wike's Out There (2006) (aka "Out There").- IMDb Mini Biography By: MosaicSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/one-heat-minute-productions/donations
