Today's guest is Neil Mehta, founder of Greenoaks Capital. In 2012, aged 27, Neil left D.E. Shaw to start Greenoaks with his friend Benny Peretz. One of their first investments was in Coupang, a South Korean e-commerce company led by founder Bom Kim. Neil was so convinced of Coupang's potential that he invested 40% of their initial $50 million fund into the company—a bet that eventually returned about $8 billion. Over its first 13 years, Greenoaks has backed legendary companies like Figma, Wiz, Carvana, Stripe, Discord, Rippling, and Toast—generating over $13 billion in gross profits with a 33% net IRR. Henry Kravis, one of Neil's early investors, describes him as "extremely disciplined" with "exceptional timing" who has "gone against the tide many times." Greenoaks operates with remarkable concentration: just 55 core companies across nearly $15 billion in assets, managed by only nine investment professionals. Their approach reflects their singular pursuit: finding companies that will become a meaningful part of the S&P 500. In our wide-ranging conversation, Neil shares this mission along with his framework for identifying exceptional founders, his concept of "jaw-dropping customer experiences," and how his grandfather's gun shop in India shaped his appreciation for builders of all kinds. Send us a textWhat happens when a former touring musician discovers his calling in the shed industry? In this captivating episode, Craig Felker, Chief Brand Officer at JMAG, shares his remarkable journey and deep insights on authentic branding that resonates beyond product features.Craig reveals how his past as a Christian rock band frontman unexpectedly prepared him for leadership in an industry he never imagined entering. "I thought I had separated my identity from being Craig, the front man of Hearts of Saints, and it was this really hard time because I was like, what am I going to do?" This vulnerability becomes a throughline in our conversation as Craig emphasizes how authentic leadership creates environments where people feel valued. The conversation takes a fascinating turn when we explore what truly differentiates successful brands. "Good companies have customers. Great companies have fans," Craig notes, pointing to examples like Harley-Davidson and Bucky's that create emotional connections before customers ever encounter their products. We unpack how shed companies can develop this same passionate following by leading with core values rather than simply selling structures.Perhaps most provocative is our discussion about the industry's fragmented marketing approach. We challenge conventional thinking about dealer networks and manufacturer relationships, suggesting that collaboration and unified brand messaging might better serve everyone. "If you lead with your culture, your core values, and that is your brand... people want to align themselves with companies, with brands that they have shared values with."Whether you're a dealer struggling with positioning, a manufacturer questioning your market approach, or simply fascinated by authentic leadership, this conversation offers refreshing perspectives on standing out in a competitive landscape by simply being true to who you are.For more information or to know more about the Shed Geek Podcast visit us at our website.Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube at the handle @shedgeekpodcast.To be a guest on the Shed Geek Podcast visit our website and fill out the "Contact Us" form.To suggest show topics or ask questions you want answered email us at info@shedgeek.com.This episodes Sponsors:Studio Sponsor: Union Grove LumberCALLuxGuardShed Geek MarketingShed ProMaking Sales Simple

Every woman has something that's tearing away at her esteem —a part they wish they could change. Many of us struggle with internal battles, feeling defined by societal perceptions of beauty or worth. In his message, The Noblewoman Era, Dr. Gabe draws from the biblical story of Leah and Rachel, illustrating how societal and internal pressures can shape—even skew—our self-worth. Leah, often overshadowed by Rachel's beauty, teaches us that our perceived imperfections do not define our potential.Support the showText encounteratl to 94000 to stay up-to-date on all things Encounter.Worship with EncounterSundays at 9 AM ET | Wednesdays at 7:30 PM ETSupport EncounterText egive to 77977 Connect with EncounterFacebook | Instagram | TikTok | YouTube | WebsiteConnect with Dr. GabeInstagram | YouTube | Website

Today on The Career Flipper, host Jenny Dempsey is chatting with Michael Mattson, whose career journey is a perfect example of how small, intentional shifts can lead to massive transformations. Michael started out as a mail carrier, delivering letters door to door—and yes, getting to pet all the dogs along the way! But beyond the friendly pups, he saw firsthand the importance of both customer and employee experience, which set him on a path of discovery and career growth. With a high-empathy mindset, Michael made small leaps that took him from the frontlines of the postal service into a corporate customer experience role, and eventually across the country to become the Manager of Customer Experience for a global organization. He now also serves on advisory boards for multiple CX organizations, helping shape the future of the field. In this episode, we dive into:The power of mentorship and why you shouldn't be afraid to lean on your networkWhy employee experience matters just as much as customer experienceThe importance of finding the right workplace culture for long-term happinessHow small, calculated risks can open unexpected doorsThe delicate balance between career ambitions and personal passions—and why Michael chose to keep photography as a creative outlet rather than a jobHow embracing vulnerability at work can strengthen professional relationshipsMichael's story is a reminder that career changes don't have to happen all at once—sometimes, it's the little shifts that add up to something big.Connect with Michael

Clare Walker, Vodafone 2:02 I started my professional or my my more structured career back in 2016, but actually through conversations and interviews like this, I realised I've pretty much been coaching all of my life. Darren A. Smith 2:14 Love that, love it. Love it. OK, OK, now we're here talking about these coaching card things. We have a number of coaching cards and you kindly collaborated with us on a particular deck. So I'm going to ask you a few questions to share with the folks that are watching. What are these things? Why did you create it and how to use them? So let's start with the first question. What did you create? What are they? Clare Walker, Vodafone 2:41 I created a deck that our personal values cards and I have them all here. Darren A. Smith 2:47 Oh yeah. In today's episode of Leadership is Feminine, Kris Plachy explores the profound responsibility that comes with leadership and the undeniable influence leaders have—whether they realize it or not. Leadership isn't just about making choices; it's about understanding the weight of those choices and the impact they have on the people who follow. Kris challenges both leaders and followers to reflect: When was the last time you revisited your values? Are you making decisions based on your own beliefs, or simply following someone else's lead? She urges listeners to take a step back, dig into their core values, and ensure they're aligned with the people and organizations they choose to follow. But leadership doesn't exist without followership. Kris dives into the often-overlooked responsibility of followers, emphasizing that it's just as crucial for them to understand their own values. “It is as incumbent upon followers to know what their values are, as it is for leaders,” she says. Too often, people look to leaders for direction without first identifying what truly matters to them. “If you assume a role of leadership, you have a tremendous amount of responsibility,” Kris reminds us. People naturally seek guidance, and as a leader, you set the course—whether for a team, a business, or a community. This episode is a call to step into leadership and followership with clarity, intention, and a strong foundation of personal values. Key Takeaways From This Episode Understanding the Responsibility That Comes with a Leadership Role: Discussion of how easy it is for people to be placed in leadership roles based on the followers around them. Leaders Can Influence and Shape People's Actions and Decisions The Importance of Clear Values for Both Leaders and Followers: Self-awareness and clarity about one's values. The Challenge of Different Interpretations of Shared Values Values in the Workplace: Understanding the values of your organization and your leaders. Happy Satiated Saturday! I've gone out to eat sushi many times. Several years ago, when I had to go to a sushi restaurant for a work meeting, I thought, "Sure, no problem."On this particular afternoon, the restaurant was loud and bustling. I could barely hear anyone down the table, and I was there with people who didn't necessarily put my body at ease. By the end of the meal, I was doubled over in digestive pain. At the time, I didn't want anyone to know how much pain I was in. So, I used the excuse that my then-boyfriend (and now-husband) had texted me and I needed to go home. I went home and immediately got into an epsom salt bath and as an experience of safety returned to my body, the digestive pain dissipated and went away. This was one of those powerful experiences where I deeply felt, this was not about the food. This was about the context in which I was eating the food in.The context surrounding your meals—the environment, emotions, beliefs, nervous system states, and inner narratives—shapes not only what you eat but also how much you eat. Your interactions with food are a reflection of both the world around you and the world within you. Your internal and external landscapes come together shaping the food choices you make.In this week's Satiated Podcast episode, I chat with Josh Hillis, coach, author, and creator of Eating Skills about: Importance of understanding personal valuesRole of self-determination theoryNecessity of context in making food choicesSignificance of practicing self-awarenessLearning to recognize hunger cues Impact of emotional states on eating behaviorsYou can also read the transcript to this week's episode here: https://www.stephaniemara.com/blog/how-context-and-personal-values-influence-what-you-eatWith Compassion and Empathy, Stephanie Mara FoxKeep in touch with Josh: Website: https://joshhillis.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/joshuahillis/Book: Lean & StrongSupport the showKeep in touch with Stephanie Mara:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_stephaniemara/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/stephaniemarafoxWebsite: https://www.stephaniemara.com/https://www.somaticeating.com/Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephmara/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@stephaniemarafoxContact: support@stephaniemara.comSupport the show:Become a supporter: https://www.buzzsprout.com/809987/supportMy favorite water filter: https://www.pureeffectfilters.com/#a_aid=somaticeatingReceive 15% off my fave protein powder with code STEPHANIEMARA at checkout here: https://www.equipfoods.com/STEPHANIEMARAUse my Amazon Affiliate link when shopping on Amazon: https://amzn.to/448IyPl Special thanks to Bendsound for the music in this episode. ...
