Few would have expected that spectators at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics would include animals. Sie werden wie 2018 in Südkorea auch jetzt bei den Spielen in China Olympiasieger. - Mit Lochner/Bauer sowie Hafer/Sommer rasen zwei weitere deutsche Duos aufs Podest. Ein kompletter Medaillensatz in einem Wettbewerb für eine Nation, das hat es seit Beginn der olympischen Bobwettkämpfe 1924 noch nie gegeben. - Und schließlich wird ein kurzfristiger Schlittentausch zu einer dieser speziellen Olympiageschichten. Die Vision ist nicht neu, doch sie kommt überraschend. Olympia in Sachsen, das hatte Riesas Oberbürgermeister Wolfram Köhler vor ziemlich genau 20 Jahren schon mal vorgeschlagen. Leipzig ging schließlich in den internationalen Wettbewerb für die Sommerspiele 2012, die dann in London stattfinden. Ein Jahr später wagt Altenbergs Bürgermeister Thomas Kirsten erneut einen Vorstoß, diesmal für die Winterspiele 2026. Weil er das für den Sport zuständige Innenministerium nicht einweiht, scheitert die Initiative, bevor sie richtig Fahrt aufnehmen kann. Im Dreierbob, dem Wintersport-Podcast von Sächsische.de, bringt Rainer M. Jacobus das Thema nun wieder auf die Tagesordnung. "Olympia in Sachsen, warum denn eigentlich nicht?", fragt der Vereinsvorsitzender des BSC Sachsen Oberbärenburg, Verein von Bobdominator Francesco Friedrich und einer der erfolgreichsten Wintersportklubs weltweit. Er will seine Aussagen zunächst einmal ausschließlich als Gedankenspiel verstanden wissen, hat allerdings auch schon konkrete Ideen: Die Hallenwettbewerbe könnten demnach vor allem in Dresden ausgetragen werden, Eiskunstlaufen am Traditionsstandort Chemnitz, das Skispringen in Klingenthal, die alpinen Wettbewerbe im tschechischen Riesengebirge. "Und das Eishockey-Finale findet in Prag statt. Mit Tschechien hätte man zudem eine wintersportbegesiterte Nation dabei", sagt Jacobus. Und mit dem Altenberger Eiskanal gäbe es auch schon eine international anerkannte Sportstätte für Bob, Rodeln und Skeleton. Ebenfalls in dem Podcast-Gespräch dabei ist Harald Czudaj. Der Viererbob-Olympiasieger von 1994, der mit Hobby-Anschieber Jacobus in Altenberg regelmäßig bei großen Wettkämpfen im Spurschlitten im Einsatz ist, ergänzt: "Ich denke, die Menschen wollen doch gar nicht diese Mega-Olympischen Spiele. Und es gibt doch schon Weltcups, die hier als olympiatauglich durchgehen könnten. Da müssten nicht extra Millionen investieren werden, nur weil man fünf Ringe drauf klebt." Jacobus geht noch einen Schritt weiter. "Wir müssen Olympia neu denken", sagt er. Und da gehe es nicht im Spitzensportbereich los. "Zuallererst muss über den Stellenwert des Sports bei uns in der Gesellschaft diskutiert werden", sagt Jacobus, der jahrelang als stellvertretender Vorsitzender im deutschen Bob- und Schlittenverband tätig war und international sehr gut vernetzt ist. Statt die Winterspiele in China zu kritisieren, da sind sich beide einig, müsse man sich vielmehr fragen, warum bei der Vergabe 2015 lediglich Peking und das kasachische Almaty zur Wahl standen. Auch München hatte eine Bewerbung für 2022 geplant, scheiterte aber an einer Bürgerbefragung. "Dabei sind in der Region dort Wettkampfstätten von internationaler Spitzenklasse vorhanden", so Jacobus. Dass es trotz dieser Voraussetzungen eine Olympiabewerbung schwer habe, zeige für Jacobus, wieso man in Deutschland wieder mehr für den Sport tun müsse. "Ich frage mich ganz ernsthaft, welchen Stellenwert hat der Sport, wenn selbst bei Vorliegen solcher Voraussetzungen und bei der Möglichkeit für die örtliche Wirtschaft auf ökonomisch interessante Winterspiele, die Bevölkerung das ablehnt?" Für eine mögliche sächsische Bewerbung, so Jacobus und Czudaj sinngemäß, sei das Nachbessern im gesellschaftlichen Bereich nötig. Würde man an der Idee festhalten, kämen für Spiele in Sachsen frühestens die im Jahr 2034 infrage. Natürlich geht es in dem Podcast-Gespräch auch um sportliche Fragen. Welche Chancen hat Francesco Friedrich jetzt bei den Wettbewerben im Eiskanal von Yanqing? Undwie sieht es überhaupt aus mit dem Bobsport in Sachsen? Czudajs Sohn Alexander, Jugend-Olympiasieger von 2020, ist eines der großen Talente. Olympia 2034 in Sachsen – er wäre dann im besten Pilotenalter.

Zwei Tage nach ihrem folgenschweren Sturz, der sie mindestens die erhoffte Medaille kostete, wenn nicht gar den Olympiasieg, kann Julia Taubitz schon wieder lächeln. "Ich habe ganz, ganz tolle Nachrichten bekommen und viel Zuspruch. Ich war sehr überrascht, wie viele Leute mit mir gelitten haben", sagt sie im Wintersportpodcast "Dreierbob" bei Sächsische.de und stellt zugleich fest: "Mir geht es aber immer noch sehr bescheiden." Die Winterspiele in Peking - das sollte ihre große Chance sein, erst recht nach einer starken Saison und dem Sieg im Gesamtweltcup. "Ich bin eigentlich eine echt gute Rodlerin und bin in zwei von vier Läufen bei den Olympischen Spielen auch Bestzeit gefahren. Doch davon kann ich mir überhaupt nichts kaufen, denn am Ende fahre ich mit leeren Händen nach Hause", erzählt Taubitz im und spricht von einem Gefühlschaos mit immer wieder auch Tränen. Eine Medaille sollte es sein, am Ende war es Platz sieben. "Das ist Olympia, und irgendwie ist es doch auch schön, dass so viele Emotionen rauskommen", sagt sie, äußerlich erstaunlich gefasst. Und tatsächlich, bei Olympia gibt es Heldengeschichten wie die von Teamkollegin Natalie Geisenberger, die knapp zwei Jahre nach der Geburt von Sohn Leo zum fünften Olympiasieg rodelte, und zugleich zerplatzen regelmäßig die schönsten Medaillenträume, nicht nur im Eiskanal. Skispringerin Katharina Althaus versammelt beides in einer Person: erst im Einzel zu Silber gesprungen, dann im Teamwettbewerb wegen eines nicht regelkonformen Anzugs disqualifiziert. Triumph und Tragik - das lag am Montag speziell aus sächsischer Sicht ganz nah beieinander. Denn zwei Stunden vor dem Sturz der Annabergerin wurde die Oberwiesenthalerin Denise Herrmann völlig überraschend Olympiasiegerin in der Königsdisziplin der Biathleten, dem Einzel über 15 Kilometer. "Ich habe das anfangs gar nicht mitbekommen, mich dann aber riesig gefreut für Denise. Und ich muss ehrlich sagen, das hat mich noch mal richtig gepusht und motiviert. Ich dachte, jetzt läuft's für Sachsen so richtig", erzählt Taubitz. Es kam anders. Nach Bahnrekord im ersten Lauf und auf dem Weg zur nächsten Bestzeit passierte es in der ominösen Kurve 13, die selbst Olympiasiegerin Geisenberger bis zuletzt zittern ließ. Taubitz stürzt und rutscht dann bäuchlings mit dem Schlitten auf dem Rücken ins Ziel. Aus der Traum vom Siegerpodest. "Ich bin umgefallen", antwortet sie salopp auf die Frage, wie das passieren konnte. Die Erklärung folgt direkt im Anschluss: "Es war einfach nur ein kleiner Fahrfehler. Das hatte nichts mit Nerven oder sonstigem zu tun. Ich hatte den Schlitten in Kurve 13 ein bisschen zu früh ausgelenkt und dadurch einen Linkszug bekommen. Den Kipper konnte ich noch echt gut abfangen und dachte, ich hab's wieder. Doch dann kam der kleine Buckel in Kurve 16 - und da hast du keine mehr." Am liebsten hätte sie in dem Moment 30 Sekunden zurückspulen wollen, um noch mal alles richtig zu machen. "Es geht halt ganz schnell, von Top auf Flop", meint Taubitz. Dass sie im vierten Lauf wieder die Laufbestzeit erzielt, ging unter im Jubel um Geisenberger und Anna Berreiter, die die Gunst der Stunde nutzte und den zweiten Platz belegte. "Es war ein versöhnlicher letzter Lauf für mich, im Großen und Ganzen bin ich trotzdem enttäuscht", sagt Taubitz. Nach einer kurzen Nacht mit vielen Gedanken und noch mehr Emotionen, wie er sagt, beginnt für Olympiasieger Johannes Ludwig die zweite Disziplin bei diesen Winterspielen in Peking: der Medien-Marathon. Es ist sozusagen die Pflicht nach der Kür am Abend zuvor, als der Rodler im Eiskanal von Yanqing zur Goldmedaille fuhr. Noch dazu ist es die erste fürs deutsche Team - und das Interesse am 35-Jährigen noch einmal größer. Zwischen Fernseh-Interview und Telefonat mit der Heimatzeitung in Thüringen nimmt Ludwig auch Platz im Dreierbob, dem Wintersportpodcast von Sächsische.de. Im Podcast-Gespräch gesteht er, dass er es immer noch nicht so richtig fassen kann. "Ich werde mir jetzt im Nachhinein alles noch mal in Videos anschauen, was überhaupt passiert ist. Und dann werde ich das wahrscheinlich so Stück für Stück verarbeiten", erzählt Ludwig und verrät, dass er die Medaille wie angekündigt in der Nacht unterm Kopfkissen nahe bei sich hatte. "Jetzt habe ich sie in der Hand und streichle sie nebenbei immer ein bisschen." Dass Ludwig, der noch nie einen Einzeltitel gewonnen hat, in Peking triumphiert - wer hätte das schon gedacht? Tatsächlich wohl nicht mal unbedingt er selbst, wobei Ludwig in dieser Saison so gut wie nie unterwegs ist. Fünf Weltcups hat er für sich entschieden, außerdem den Gesamtweltcup. Vor allem aber verblüfft die souveräne Art und Weise, mit der er den technisch anspruchsvollen Eiskanal im Griff hatte. Start- und Bahnrekord im ersten Lauf, noch einen Bahnrekord im dritten Lauf, seinem besten, wie er meint. Schließlich die nervenstarke Fahrt zu Gold. "Dieses Level zu finden zwischen der richtigen Anspannung und Entspannung, das ist mir ganz gut gelungen. Ich war wirklich überrascht, wie gut ich über die Nacht gekommen bin", sagt Ludwig. Im Podcast beantwortet der neue Olympiasieger auch die zwei wichtigsten Fragen, die sich nun stellen: Beendet Ludwig als bald 36-Jähriger auf dem vermeintlichen Höhepunkt jetzt wirklich seine Karriere? "Ich habe nicht gesagt, dass ich aufhören werde, und ich habe nicht gesagt, dass ich weitermache", sagt er. Jetzt wolle Ludwig erst einmal genießen, Luft ranlassen und dann mit seiner Familie reden, "ob ich mir eine weitere Saison gönnen möchte oder nicht". Verlockend ist die WM 2023 in Oberhof natürlich schon. Eine WM, die für den Thüringer im doppelten Sinne eine Heim-WM wäre. Und wie hat er eigentlich jetzt die Goldmedaille gefeiert? Seine Mannschaftskollegen hatten schließlich so eine Vorahnung. "Das wird eine fette Party geben. Ganz egal, ob mit Cola, Wasser oder Bier", sagte der Sechsplatzierte Max Langenhahn am Sonntagabend im Ziel. Der weitaus erfahrenere viermalige Olympiasieger Felix Loch, diesmal Vierter, wusste da schon mehr. Er frohlockte, dass die Österreicher im Olympischen Dorf gleich nebenan wohnen und immer einen guten Schluck dabei haben. Und so kam es dann auch. Aber hören Sie selbst ... Fin janvier, le massif montagneux qui entoure la station de Yanqing où se déroulent les épreuves de ski alpin, était vierge de tout flocon. Tests Covid quotidiens, prises de températures, chambres d'isolement pour les personnes positives, compétitions dans des stades sans public, seuls quelques « invités » sont prévus…La flamme olympique a connu de meilleurs moments. Les athlètes devront également composés avec un froid polaire dans les deux stations (Yanqing et Zhangjiakou) qui accueillent les épreuves de ski et de la neige 100 % artificielle. Une ambiance glaciale qui l'on retrouve également sur le terrain diplomatique. Les États-Unis, le Canada, l'Australie ou la Grande-Bretagne ont décidé d'un boycott diplomatique en raison du « génocide et des crimes contre l'humanité en cours au Xinjiang ». Le régime communiste est accusé d'avoir persécuté et interné plus d'un million de Ouïghours, la minorité musulmane qui vit dans la région. Die Uhr tickt runter, die heiße Phase vor Olympia hat begonnen. Das Kürzel im Leistungssport dafür lautet UWV, unmittelbare Wettkampfvorbereitung. So steht es auch diesmal wieder in den Trainingsplänen von Gerd Leopold. Und kaum einer weiß besser, worauf es jetzt ankommt: Kräfte sammeln, Konzentration schärfen. Seit 40 Jahren arbeitet der Riesaer nun schon als Bobtrainer, seit 2011 ist er Heimtrainer von Francesco Friedrich. Vor den Olympischen Spielen, die am 4. Februar in Peking eröffnet werden, kommt diesmal noch ein geradezu zentraler Punkt hinzu, mahnt der Trainer im Wintersportpodcast "Dreierbob" bei Sächsische.de an: "Kontakte meiden!" Um sich vor dem Coronavirus zu schützen, hat sich die gesamte deutsche Bob-Nationalmannschaft, Techniker, Serviceleute und Physiotherapeuten inklusive, eine Woche vor dem Abflug nach Peking aus der Öffentlichkeit komplett zurückgezogen. Im Trainingszentrum Kienbaum am Rande von Berlin bestreitet das Team nun also die UWV. "Wir haben es die ganze lange Weltcup-Saison jetzt ohne Infektion geschafft, da wollen wir auf die letzten Tage nichts anbrennen lassen", sagt Leopold und klopft sich dreimal leicht auf den Kopf. Das Motto für den Aufenthalt in Kienbaum lautet also: "Noch mal gut trainieren. Aber bloß nicht infizieren!" So kurz vor dem herausragenden Saisonhöhepunkt, der maßgeblich über den weiteren Karriereverlauf der Athleten entscheidet und zudem die Förderung der gesamten Sportart in Deutschland bestimmt, könnte ein positiver Fall empfindliche Folgen haben. Leopold weiß das, er hat auch schon oft genug Krisen und Extreme erlebt. Harald Czudaj, mit dem er mittlerweile Fitnessstudios mit dem vielsagenden Namen "Olympia" in Riesa und Coswig betreibt, und dessen Vierer-Team hat Leopold 1994 in Lillehammer zum Olympiasieger gemacht, danach trainierte er Jamaikaner, Franzosen und Niederländer. Und seit 2011 ist der frühere Marathonläufer vom SC Einheit Dresden (Bestzeit 2:32 Stunden) an einem besonders ambitionierten Projekt beteiligt. Die Erfolge von Bobdominator Francesco Friedrich aus Pirna, dem Rekordweltmeister und zweimaligen Olympiasieger von 2018, gehen auch auf ihn zurück. Leopold schreibt die Trainingspläne, er ist zudem so etwas wie die Vaterfigur, zugleich Motivator, Netzwerker und einer, der immer wieder innovative Ideen einbringt. Zum Beispiel, dass auch Yoga gut ist für starke Männer, die sonst Kniebeuge mit einer 200-Kilo-Hantelstange im Nacken machen. Einmal pro Woche versammelt er Team Friedrich, zu dem die Anschieber Thorsten Margis, Candy Bauer, Martin Grothkopp, Alexander Schüller sowie in diesem Jahr auch der überaus erfahrene Alexander Rödiger gehören, zum gemeinsamen Training auf der Anschubstrecke in Riesa. Und selbstverständlich ist Friedrichs Ziel, die Olympiasiege Nummer drei und vier, auch seines. "Wir haben in dieser Saison 16 von 18 Rennen gewonnen. Etwas anderes als zu sagen, wir fahren um den Sieg, kann nicht unser Anspruch sein", sagt Leopold - und schiebt nach: "Doch es gibt keine Garantie." Am Samstag fliegt die Bob-Mannschaft nach Peking. Von dort geht es dann weiter in die gut 80 Kilometer nordwestlich gelegenen Berge nach Yanqing, wo auf der neu gebauten Olympia-Bahn kurzfristig noch vor der Eröffnung zwei Trainingstage für die Bobfahrer vorgesehen sind. Eine unverhoffte Chance, die sich der Perfektionist Friedrich nicht entgehen lässt. Die Männer-Rennen stehen dann am 14. und 15. (Zweier) sowie am 19. und 20. Februar (Vierer) im olympischen Programm. Vorab wartet auf Friedrich womöglich jedoch noch eine besondere Aufgabe. Er steht als Fahnenträger der deutschen Mannschaft für die Eröffnungsfeier zur Wahl, die Abstimmung läuft bis zum 30. Januar. "Diese ehrenvolle Aufgabe würde Francesco sehr gerne übernehmen", sagt Leopold.

Geht es ums Rodeln in Deutschland, kommt man an ihm nicht vorbei: Georg Hackl - oder wie man den dreimaligen Olympiasieger längst nicht mehr nur in seiner bayerischen Heimat nennt: der Hacklschorsch. "Was mich als Kind schon fasziniert hat, dass es möglich ist, dass ein Rennrodler an einer senkrechten Wand entlang fahren kann und da nicht runterfällt", erzählt der 55-Jährige im "Dreierbob", dem Wintersport-Podcast von Sächsische.de - der in dieser olympischen Saison auch mal schnell zum Dreierrodel wird. Im Gespräch mit Hackl, der in Berchtesgaden zu Hause ist und mittlerweile als Stützpunkttrainer arbeitet, kommt man natürlich auch an dem alles beherrschenden Thema dieser Tagen nicht vorbei: Corona. Hackl wirbt mit Nachdruck fürs Impfen, das sei die einzige Chance im Kampf gegen das Virus. Die Pandemie beschäftigt auch den Leistungssport mehr denn je, erst recht mit Blick auf die Olympischen Winterspiele im Februar 2022 in Peking. Auch das erfolgsverwöhnte und vor allem Erfolg gewöhnte deutsche Rodel-Team ist betroffen. Olympiasieger Felix Loch sowie Dajana Eitberger fehlten beim letzten Weltcup vor Weihnachten in Innsbruck aufgrund einer Corona-Infektion. Mehr noch wirkt allerdings das Erlebte von den Trainingswochen auf der neuen Olympiabahn in Yanqing nach, sowohl bei den Sportlern als auch bei Hackl selbst. "Die Gefahr einer Ansteckung mit Corona halte ich in China für sehr, sehr gering, weil hier starke Maßnahmen gegen eine solche Ansteckung ergriffen wurden", sagt der gebürtige Bayer. Etliche Maßnahmen seien allerdings wenig sinnvoll und würden vielmehr die Freiheit des Individuums stark einschränken. So habe er beispielsweise beim Einchecken ins Hotel seinen Ausweis abgeben müssen und habe den erst am letzten Tag wiederbekommen. Dies sei ein kleines, aber aussagekräftiges Beispiel. Die Corona-Quarantäne habe sich wie Strafvollzug angefühlt mit Stacheldraht rund ums Hotel, meint Hackl mit leiser, ernster Stimme. Ursächlich verantwortlich dafür macht er "ein anderes Menschenbild, ein anderes Weltbild, das man in diesem Land hat und Dinge handhabt, die wir in freien, demokratischen Ländern unter ,geht gar nicht' einordnen würden. Da ist der Mensch nichts wert, und da ist es wurscht, wenn der Mensch nicht raus darf." Unter diesen Voraussetzungen, stellt Hackl weiter fest, "hat das Große, Schöne und Tolle, was Olympia immer war, für mich ganz grundsätzlich seinen Zauber verloren". Es falle ihm daher auch sehr schwer, sich für eine erneute Reise nach China im Februar zu motivieren, er verbucht es inzwischen vielmehr als reine Arbeitsreise. "Mir tun vor allem die Sportler leid, die um das Erlebnis Olympia und die großartigen Momente, wie ich sie mehrfach erleben durfte, betrogen werden", sagt Hackl und macht dafür gleichermaßen die Pandemie und den Austragungsort verantwortlich. Hackl kommt nicht zuletzt aufgrund der anhaltenden Menschenrechtsverletzungen in China zu dem Schluss: "Augen auf bei der vergabe der Olympischen Spiele." Es tue ihm für die Sportler leid, es tut ihm für Olympia leid. "Und mir tut es für alle sehr, sehr leid, die unter solch einem Regime leiden", betont er. Was bleibt, ist der sportliche Wettbewerb - auch in Peking und trotz der widrigen Umstände, die auch von den Athleten anderer Länder kritisiert wurden. "Wir sind gut aufgestellt, sind gut vorbereitet. Und wir haben unsere Erfahrungen mit der Bahn gemacht", sagt Hackl. Er spricht von einer sehr aufwendig und großzügig gebauten Anlage. "So etwas hat der Rodelsport bisher noch nicht gesehen. Eigentlich eine Vorzeige-Anlage." In knapp acht Wochen beginnen die olympischen Winterspiele in Peking - am 4. Februar ist der Auftakt. Viele Athletinnen und Athleten freuen sich auf die Wettkämpfe, aber über allem liegt ein Schatten: China ist als kommunistischer Ein-Parteien-Staat alles andere als demokratisch, die Menschenrechte etwa der Uiguren werden ziemlich offen verletzt. Und dazu kommt noch die Pandemie. Kaum ein Land hat so strikte Corona-Regeln wie China. Das bekamen auch die deutschen Rodlerinnen und Rodler zu spüren, als sie vor kurzem im Land waren, um dort die neue Olympia-Bahn in Yanqing zu testen. Felix Loch, Tobias Arldt und Natalie Geisenberger haben in einer Dokumentation in der ARD über ihre Erfahrungen berichtet. Deutschlands derzeit stärkste Rennrodlerin Julia Taubitz sieht rund zwei Monate vor Beginn der Olympischen Winterspiele in Peking noch Nachbesserungsbedarf bei den Corona-Abläufen im Gastgeberland. Im Podcast Dreierbob bei Sächsische.de berichtet die 25-Jährige von Erfahrungen, die sie gemeinsam mit der Nationalmannschaft kürzlich bei den Trainingswochen samt abschließenden Weltcup auf der neuen Olympiabahn gemacht hat. Taubitz betont, dass die Anlage in Yanqing gut 80 Kilometer von Peking nordwestlich "traumhaft" sei. "Die Bahn schlängelt sich wie ein Drachen in die Landschaft." Sie sei außerdem schnell und aufgrund ihres verhältnismäßig milden Kurvenprofils nicht wie frühere Olympiabahnen so beschaffen, dass sie die Athleten an körperliche Belastungsgrenzen oder darüber hinaus bringe. Dem sportlichen Teil ihrer jüngsten China-Reise kann die sächsische Rodlerin viel Positives abgewinnen, nicht zuletzt wegen ihres zweiten Platzes beim Weltcup-Rennen. Anders sieht es beim zweiten großen Thema aus, das in dieser Saison auch die Wintersportler wieder intensiv beschäftigt: Corona. Nach der Ankunft in China, so erzählt es Taubitz, wurden drei Passagiere an Bord eines Flugzeugs, das den internationalen Rodlertross beförderte, positiv auf das Coronavirus getestet. Sie selbst sei nicht betroffen gewesen. Teamkollegen wurden allerdings als Kontaktperson ersten Grades eingestuft, weil sie im Flugzeug in der Nähe eines Infizierten gesessen haben sollen. Dass auf jenen Plätzen aufgrund von Kapazitätsproblemen jedoch nachweislich Gepäck gelagert wurde, spielte für die Sicherheitskräfte im Olympialand keine Rolle. Bei Corona kennen die Chinesen kein Pardon. Zudem berichtet Taubitz von "menschenunwürdigen" Zuständen in der Quarantäne-Unterkunft, wo sie sich genauso wie viele weitere Mitglieder des deutschen Teams in 14-tägige Isolation begeben musste. "Man wurde früh um 5 Uhr und abends um 23 Uhr getestet. Das Essen wurde vor die Tür gestellt, meistens war das dann auch kalt. Noch dazu klappte die Verständigung nicht, weil niemand wirklich Englisch sprach", sagt Taubitz in der aktuellen Folge des Wintersport-Podcasts Dreierbob, der diesmal ganz pragmatisch das Sportgerät wechselt und zum Dreierrodel wird. Weil sie nicht positiv getestet wurde, konnte sich innerhalb der Unterkunft bewegen und auch trainieren. Schlechter erwischte es ihren Teamkollegen Tobias Arlt. Er wurde vor Ort positiv getestet und in eine andere Unterkunft gebracht. "Er war ja kein Schwerverbrecher und hat dann dort echt viel durchmachen müssen." Sein Zimmer sei sehr klein gewesen, "noch schlimmer aber war, dass da tote Tiere waren". Taubitz meint schließlich: "Wenn man schon in Quarantäne geht, macht man eh eine schwere Zeit durch. Dann sollte wenigstens die Unterkunft in Ordnung sein." Der Olympia-Winter hätte also kaum turbulenter und aufregender beginnen können. Erst die drei Wochen Peking, dann zwei Weltcups in Sotschi, jetzt weiter nach Altenberg - und das alles inmitten der Corona-Pandemie. Doch Taubitz versucht entspannt zu bleiben. Lockerheit, das hat sie in den vergangenen Jahren gelernt, ist auf dem Rennschlitten entscheidend. In Bezug auf die Corona-Entwicklung gerade auch in Sachsen vertritt Taubitz, die in Annaberg-Buchholz zu Hause ist, eine klare Meinung. "Ich frage mich schon, wie können manche Menschen ihre Augen verschließen und einfach so hinnehmen, dass alles irgendwie den Bach runter geht." Die Impfung, der sie zunächst auch skeptisch gegenüberstand, sieht sie als "den ersten Schritt, den man in die richtige Richtung" machen könne. Selbst wenn die kommenden Tage in Altenberg nicht ganz so normal und unbeschwert wie üblich sind, zumindest sportlich läuft es. Die offizielle Olympia-Norm hat Taubitz erfüllt, und auch im internen Duell liegt sie gut platziert. Es sieht danach aus, als würde sie sich im Februar ihren großen Traum erfüllen können: die Olympia-Teilnahme.

Die neue Wintersportsaison hat gerade erst begonnen, da ist klar: Große Events vor Zuschauern wird es in den nächsten Monaten kaum geben. Das gilt für die Olympischen Spiele in Peking (4. bis 20. Februar) und die Wettkämpfe bis dahin - unabhängig von der Sportart. Doch wie wird dieser Sportwinter, der erneut von der Pandemie gezeichnet ist? Im "Dreierbob", dem jetzt wieder startenden Wintersport-Podcast von Sächsische.de, geht es um genau diese Frage. Zum Auftakt zu Gast ist der Pirnaer Bobpilot Francesco Friedrich. Der Rekordweltmeister und zweimalige Olympiasieger erklärt, wie ernst er und sein Team das Thema Corona nehmen - inklusive der weitreichenden Folgen der Selbstschutz für die Sportler und ihr privates Umfeld haben. "Wir wissen alle, was wir zu tun und zu lassen haben", erklärt Friedrich. Dadurch sei bei Wettkämpfen das Risiko überschaubar. "Doch die Gefahr, sich irgendwo anzustecken, fährt überall mit." Friedrich weiß, wovon er spricht. Im März hatten er und seine Crew Corona. Die Infektion verlief für alle folgenlos. "Wir haben dabei aber unsere Erfahrungen gesammelt", sagt er. In seinem Team gehe man mit dem Thema Corona auch deshalb sehr sensibel um. Friedrich selbst beobachtet die momentane Entwicklung genau - insbesondere in seiner Heimat. "So wie sich das jetzt wieder zuspitzt, kann man nicht damit rechnen, dass wir das Ganze bald überstanden haben", meint Friedrich, dessen sportliches Zuhause die Bobbahn in Altenberg ist. Am kommenden Wochenende findet dort der erste von zwei Heim-Weltcups in diesem Winter statt, aufgrund der Corona-Notfallverordnung in Sachsen ohne Zuschauer. Privat versuchen er und seine Familie jedes Risiko zu meiden. Um die Sicherheit bei Olympia macht sich Friedrich wenig Sorgen. Erst kürzlich war der gesamte Bob-Zirkus für drei Wochen an der neuen Bahn, die rund 80 Kilometer entfernt von Peking in Yanqing liegt. "Die Chinesen nehmen das Thema sehr, sehr ernst", betont Friedrich. Er berichtet von täglichen PCR-Tests und reibungslosen Abläufen, wie sie auch während der Spiele zu erwarten sind. Unabhängig von der sportlichen Vorbereitung, die in der Bob-Gemeinschaft wohl niemand so akribisch betreibt wie er, beschäftigt Friedrich das gesellschaftliche Miteinander. Er selbst sei genauso wie seine Teammitglieder geimpft. Die Impfung sieht er aber nicht als allein entscheidendes Kriterium an. "Nur weil man geimpft ist, kann man nicht die Hände hoch nehmen und sagen: 'Es liegt doch nicht an mir'". Weil auch eine Impfung nicht davor schütze, das Virus weiterzugeben, müsse jetzt jeder auf sich und andere aufpassen. "Egal, ob man nun geimpft ist oder nicht. Hauptsache, jeder hält sich an die Regeln." Für ihn ist das eine Selbstverständlichkeit.

Applicant cities for the 2022 Winter Olympics are in Sochi drumming up support for their bids. China was the first to start its campaign.
