When it comes to accountability, the traditional approach has put leaders in charge of holding others accountable. Often this approach translates into a fear-based, command-and-control, “I have the authority, and I'm going to tell you what to do” approach to accountability. But does this approach work in the modern workplace? (And, we might ask, did it ever work?)In this episode, Daniel and Peter dive into the myth of accountability–the idea that leaders must hold their people accountable. This myth often leads to micromanaging, conflict, and a kind of “parent-child” approach to leadership.Daniel and Peter suggest a better path–one that encourages a culture of self-accountability where teams work together in a partnership to deliver results.Tune in to learn:What the CMC model of accountability is–and why it worksHow to encourage self-accountability as a leaderWhat to do if your team resists an approach of self-accountabilityPlus, some thoughts on Artificial Intelligence, including a big announcement! This past year we lost one of our dearest friends and mentors, Bill Lokey. As we close out the year, we were listening back to some of his wisdom and gold nuggets and thought it would be a tremendous gift to re-release a series we did together in 2020. He was a gift to us, and his insights, wisdom, and influence will continue to echo across generations, no doubt. In his honor, we're releasing this four-part series, recorded in 2020, to share with you again his insights on leadership, connection, and trauma. In part 1 of the series, we begin with the heart of leadership. Because no matter our stage, we lead people. As a parent, you lead your kids. As a spouse, you lead your husband or wife. At work, you lead your employees, congregants, soldiers, clients, and teams. How would each person you lead describe your ability to connect to their reality? And how much do we pay attention to those realities versus focusing solely on our own? As Bill describes, the quality of how well we lead rises or falls on our inner world. And the people we lead, feel it. In this series, we cover The Heart of Leadership, The Heart of Connection, The Heart of Trauma, and The Heart of Your Culture. In this first episode, Josh and Bill talk about:What makes a person a leaderWhat happens when we feel like we're not enough or don't have what it takes to leadWhy we have a tendency to focus more on reputation than characterWhat happens when your stage is ripped out from under youHow to transition well as a leader when bad things happenWhat it means to grieve and why it's critical for how we leadShow Notes: Apply now for The Leader's Heart Men's Cohort, Feb. 26-29, 2023!https://www.famousathome.com/theleadersheartSign up for MyKidsEQ Winter Cohort: https://www.famousathome.com/offers/7izP4Puk/checkoutInterested in group coaching with Christi? It's easy to feel pulled down by the difficult happenings at your center. This was the case for Ashriel Huber, second-generation legacy owner of A Child's Touch in Colorado. Her desire to make the previous owner proud, coupled with the stress of taking over a large center with many moving parts, led to dysregulation, impostor syndrome, and a sense that she could never give enough to move the needle. When I met Ashriel at a conference, she felt stuck. She confided that she'd lost key members of administration, and lacked the processes and procedures that would calm the chaos.More troubling, she felt as if she'd given her life to the center, staying late night after night to try and get ahead. She needed to gain the trust of her employees, and working hard seemed the best way to accomplish that. After listening to her story, I grabbed a napkin and walked her through the Pyramid of Excellence. In her own words, that conference marked a turning point in how she thought about her role as owner. She joined the Schools of Excellence Owner's HQ membership program and began working to shift her limiting beliefs. With the support of other owners, she's learning to build emotional resilience, allowing her to stay the course when challenges arise. Instead of living at the center, she's dedicated several mornings to staying home and attending coaching calls. Most importantly, she found connections with other leaders, which allowed her to form a community of peers. Instead of feeling isolated and alone, she could share her ideas, gain feedback, and take concrete steps forward.Members of Ashriel's staff have noticed a shift. They've commented on her growing confidence, and the atmosphere at the center is beginning to transition. Now she has the tools to separate caring for the individual from being a leader who expects people to do their jobs.If you've ever felt like you're struggling with impostor syndrome, or if the stressors of your center sometimes feel too daunting, I encourage you to listen to Ashriel's story. You'll hear more about her journey and how the membership helped her gain confidence in her role as a leader.Join me for a conversation about:The struggles Ashriel faced before joining the membershipWhat she learned by being surrounded by other like-minded ownersHow her center looks now that she's a more confident leaderWhat's next for her and her centerLearn more and apply for the Director's Inner Circle & Owner's HQ: http://Chanie.me/jointhedic More about the show:If you are an Early Childhood director or owner, prepare to transform your school and life with the Schools of Excellence podcast. What if I told you that you didn't have to be at your center 40+ hours a week?Would you believe me?The reality for a lot of owners is that the line between home and school is so blurred it's almost nonexistent. They spend so much of their time wrapped up in the day-to-day operation of their centers that they end up spending more time there than they do at home with their families. This was the case for Ashley Corthell, owner of Daybreak Academy in Utah. When I first connected with her, she was spending 45+ hours per week at her school. During the few hours she was at home, she was too stressed to truly be present. In Ashley's words, school was sucking the life out of her.But all of that changed when she joined the Schools of Excellence Owner's HQ membership program. Inside the membership, Ashley built skills and gained access to resources and coaching that helped her adjust her mindset, better manage her time, and transform her school's culture. With the support of other owners, she learned to use her hours at school more productively and set healthier boundaries, which made her more intentional about how and where she was spending her time. As a result, not only did the line between school and home become better defined, but Ashley was able to reduce the number of hours she spent at her center to just 10 hours per week! And Ashley isn't the exception either. She's one of hundreds of owners and directors who have transformed their schools—and lives—thanks to the opportunities available in the membership. So, when I asked you whether you thought it was possible to spend less than 40 hours per week at your center, it wasn't hyperbole. It was a question based on the very real experiences of leaders just like you.If you're ready to start spending less time running your center and more time focused on its growth and development, I encourage you to check out this week's podcast episode. You'll hear more about Ashley's story and how the membership impacted her life and leadership.Join us for a conversation about:The struggles Ashley faced before joining the membershipWhat she learned by being surrounded by other like-minded ownersHow her center looks now that she's a more confident leaderWhat's next for her and her schoolLearn more and apply for the Director's Inner Circle & Owner's HQ: http://Chanie.me/jointhedic If Ashley's story resonated with you, don't wait and apply for the membership today. There's never been a more complicated time to be a leader. The state of the property management and real estate workforce has changed drastically over the last two years, and it continues to shift every day. In fact, HR, Staffing, and Recruitment are still among the industry's top concerns, especially when it comes to attracting new team members, reducing staff turnover, and improving company culture. To help guide leaders through these challenges, AppFolio recently led a live town hall-style panel session at the National Multifamily Housing Counsel's 2022 OPTECH Conference and Expo. That session was specifically designed to cover the new rules for leading and managing the next generation of property management talent. As part of that session, AppFolio interviewed five early-career and emerging property management and real estate leaders to hear first-hand what they think about their careers, what they look for when choosing an organization to work for, and what they expect from their own leaders today. In this episode, we hear from two of those up-and-coming property management and real estate leaders that were essential to our 2022 OPTECH panel to help you identify the leadership and talent management strategies that will lead your organization and team to success.Rohit Singh Chauhan, a Graduate Student at the MIT Center for Real Estate, and Kira Goepferd, a student at Portland State University & Property Management Assistant at Schnitzer Properties, share their invaluable insights in this episode of The Top Floor podcast.Key PointsHow to market roles to young professionalsWhy job descriptions should include future career growth opportunities How current employees can become brand ambassadors Why company culture is important to potential job candidates Why meaningful work is key to talent retentionWhy organizations need to build a culture of upskillingCurrent flexible work expectations What people want from a leaderWhat people don't want from their leaders Key Links What Do Property Management Employees Really Want? The Coaches get emotional in this one talking about how one coach made a monumental difference for his athletes. Here's what gets covered in this episode.Culture is NOT a saying or statement posted on your locker room, weight room wall or slogan you slap on a T-shirt and refer to when it's convenient. It's a living breathing organism that's GOT to be nourished and poured into daily. It has to start with a self diagnostic period of reflection on where are you, where do you want to go as a leaderWHAT is your MVP? not who is your MVPUsing 3 C's 3 E's and 3 P's will definitely act as a launching point for developing your culture. So much to work on as a coach, but if we pick one or two elements to focus on at a time for one season, or a week, or even one game or practice, we'll be able to work at becoming that 1%better.BTTYBTTT.Extreme OwnershipDevelop everyday habits for individuals on a team that fosters a sense of belonging, purpose and bettermentService or Status - Status drives failure. When you play to serve others you build trust and love and success will follow.Coaching and leadership at it's best is service to othersCoaching is the ultimate customer service job.The best of the best do things differently and it starts with building the right culture. There is a championship culture that dictates how they treat each other, how they respond to adversity, and how they perform at their highest level regardless of their sport or their level.Creating the right culture will lead to:More predictable and consistent outcomesCatching and passing the competition that's ahead of youLeading others and becoming the best at what you doIf players resist buy in, try to be more clear on what you're asking players to buy into first. Ep. 004 - “Doing it scared” may sound hard to believe coming from this week's powerhouse guest, Ruthie Kim, who has been doing just that over the past two decades. Her commitment to hearing and following God's voice partnered with her heart for the marginalized is what brought her to the US from the UK, eventually leading her to found the San Francisco- based non-profit, Because Justice Matters. Today's episode is a little bit different than our usual episodes because today I am sitting down with Amber Williams, not really an interview type but a candid conversation about race and business which is so relevant to the recent events that are currently taking place. We wanted to have this candid conversation with a sole intention to hopefully inspire and educate, to take action and make a change in your circle of influence. We are taking this initiative, though we both have been friends for a while now we still feel a bit uncomfortable to discuss these topics. So today we will talk about race and business and so much more! This is going out to both our podcasts and so make sure to tune in! In this episode you will...Learn about discussing topics that are uncomfortable but is necessaryHow can women business leaders use our platform to take a stand against social injusticeWhy it's necessary to stand up especially as a business leaderWhat is the best way to talk about anti-racism without sounding racist or ignorantWhat does doing the work really looks like Insights:"Silence is not an option, silence is betrayal.""It takes a lot more than words to make a difference it takes action.""There's a difference between hearing and listening, listening and knowing, knowing, and understanding." No matter your stage, you lead people. As a parent, you lead your kids. As a spouse, you lead your husband or wife. At work, you lead your employees, congregants, soldiers, clients, and teams. How would those you lead describe your ability to connect to their realities? And how much do we really pay attention to those realities versus focusing solely on our own? Make no mistake, the quality of how well you lead rises or falls on your inner world. And the people you lead feel it. That's why we begin season 8 of our podcast with a 4-part series on the Heart of Leadership. Sitting in as co-host while Christi is on maternity leave is world-renowned therapist Bill Lokey. In this series, we'll be covering The Heart of Your Leadership, The Heart of Connection, The Heart of Trauma, and The Heart of Your Culture. In this first episode, Josh and Bill talk about: What makes a person a leaderWhat happens when your stage is ripped out from under youHow to transition well as a leader when bad things happenWhat it means to grieve and why it's critical for how we leadWhy we have a tendency to focus more on reputation than characterWhat happens when we feel like we're not enough or don't have what it takes to lead Show Notes: Bill and Josh together will be facilitating The Leader's Heart Cohort beginning September 1. Seats are limited. To learn more about this holistic emotional / spiritual one-year journey, click here.

The organizational culture influences the way people interact, the context within which knowledge is created, the resistance they will have towards certain changes, and ultimately the way they share (or the way they do not share) knowledge. (Wikipedia)How it typically manifests in a company that advertises “healthy work culture”Transparency vs. You get what I tell you but you have to tell me everything“Ownership of work” vs. do what I say even though I say to trust yourselfUnlimited sick days vs. take them and you’re lazy OR you’re gaming the system“Flexible” work time/Remote work vs. you better be on your computer 24/7 or else you aren’t actually workingRelated “floating work from home day”“We’re like family here” vs. we’re like a very shitty, unhealthy, problematic, dysfunctional family hereI am not the micro-management type vs. i’m not equipped to be a successful supervisor so i’m going to control everythingI’d really love your feedback on this vs. i’d really love your positive feedback on thisWe’re mission driven, value centered vs. we’re money driven and looking-good-centeredFree snacks/catered lunches/alcohol to promote “fun” and “wellbeing” vs. (yeah this place sucks, but there’s free snacks!) because we provide these fun “perks” you won’t complain when things are difficult/challenging/no support is provided in ways you actually need How You Can Influence Your Work CultureTransparencyAs an IndividualSay What You Mean - be clear about your needs/boundaries/who you areAs a LeaderModelingCheck yourself b4 u wreck urselfTool: Workplace Culture Form“Ownership of work”As an IndividualAsk clarifying questions - what is my role? How can I support? Provide feedback when you have it - strengths based feedback (instead of “I don’t like this,” suggest positive changes)As a LeaderBe clear up front with what you want/need & what the team/work wants & needsIf you need to be more hands on, be transparent about your role & expectations of yourself and othersTool: B.A.R.TDynamic GovernanceTaking sick/vacation timeAs an IndividualYou can let ppl know where you are going/what you are doing as you feel comfortable (vacation, sick time, personal time, etc). But do not feel that you need to justify it - do the self work to feel confident in your decision to prioritize what you need to prioritize over work (ex. Danielle getting her hair done, ep. 3)As a LeaderModeling behaviorLeads to more productive employees & workforce/outputsIf you have boundaries around time off (deadlines, a particular time of year where everyone is hands on, major projects, etc). Communicate them to staff and ensure they understand how important the time is, but do NOT make them feel that they can’t take time for themselves if they need -Have a back up plan in case something happens, and share that with the team so they know you are genuinely thinking about them as people “Flexible” work time/Remote workAs an IndividualClarify with team & supervisors what norms are, what the work needs (and do this from the onset - in interviews! You are interviewing the workplace as much as they are interviewing you)Communicate your preferences and boundaries (this helps remove “bad assumptions,” if you have already communicated that you like to vacation on your birthday, take one big trip a year, visit your family at X time, everyone understands your intention)As a LeaderBe clear about expectations/rolesThis eliminates confusion around “what does Cam even do when he works from home?” Use tools like B.A.R.T. as needed so everyone know who is doing what and what is expectedTool: B.A.R.T. Establish normsModelDon’t tell your employees that work time is remote/flexible but then expect them to be in the office when you areAgain, be clear about your expectations (maybe everyone needs to be there in person for particular meetings, but not necessarily bc you like to drive in on Tuesdays)Encourage employees to meet & communicate as they best need/wantBe humble! You do not have to be in every meeting for it to be productive. My best meetings often occur without my “direct supervisor” at a coffee shop. Let your employees do their thing and empower them to do so!“We’re like family here”As an IndividualCommunicate needs clearly - what support do you need? Communicate your boundariesYou determine what ‘family’ means to you, you are not obligated to conform to the business’ definition of family. Make sure you understand their definition and assess if it aligns with how you want to be treated at workAs a LeaderFamily means different things to different people - provide clarification for what this phrase meansChoose a different phrase - we care about you, we see you as a whole person and want to support your wellbeing, etc.I am not the micro-management type vs. I’m not equipped to be a successful supervisor so i’m going to control everythingAs an IndividualAsk clarifying questions - what is needed/required? There are no other leadership lessons which are in comparison than those which are learned on the front lines. The Royal Marines of the UK's armed forces know all too well this lesson. Military leaders are trained to think quickly, be decisive, and most importantly the importance of taking care of their soldiers. All leadership traits which apply as much in service as out of service. Rod Yapp is a former Royal Marine Officer and the founder of Leadership Forces, a program that takes the high performance principles of the Royal Marines and applies it to leadership development. Rod has exemplified leadership on the front lines (literally) in Afghanistan and Libya and now uses that experience in order to develop leaders within organizations such as Land Rover, HSBC, and NATO. Lead like a Royal Marine Topics During this interview, Roderic and I discuss the following topics: What the Royal Marines taught him of leadershipHow his first bosses were great mentorsHow subordinates can mentor a leaderWhat leadership lessons he learned from his deployments to Afghanistan and LibyaMental Models which leaders can useWhat civilian leaders can learn from military leaders Roderic’s Resources If you are interested in learning more about Roderic and his resources then be sure to check out the following links: His website Leadership ForcesRoderic on LinkedInRoderic on Twitter Moving Forward Leadership Resources Keep on top of Moving Forward Leadership with all the resources which I have established for you: POWER Goals Program - If you are ready to stop complaining and start achieving those goals which you have been trying to achieve for some time now. We take the wider European view this week, catching up with the latest developments in Italy and France. A year on from the Italian elections, who is up and who is down in the coalition between the League and Five Star? What is China up to in Italy? Has Macron really got his mojo back? Plus we ask the big question: between chaos at Westminster, riots in Paris and rabble-rousing in Rome, whose democracy is in the biggest trouble? With Lucia Rubinelli and Chris Bickerton.Talking Points:What’s going on in Italian politics? In regional elections, the Five Star’s votes collapsed. The PD, the centre-left party, now has a new leader, but at the time of the regional elections it was in transition and still beat Five Star. The League has doubled its share of votes to 33-34%. The new leader of the PD got elected on a platform that would bring the party further to the left. But the Renzi faction is still quite powerful. What about France? There is something taking place in France that the national conversations don’t seem to have addressed.France has been through a lot of turmoil during the Macron presidency. Yet the polling is remarkably unchanged. It’s a very divided electorate, but it’s divided in basically the same ways as it was a few years ago.The gilets jaunes protest is targeted at Macron and the emblems of the state. Stepping back: In Italy, the anti-establishment parties are in power; in France, the centrist government is now facing radical street protests; and in Britain, you have Brexit. Which of these is the dominant crisis for this period in European politics?Brexit is a peculiarly institutional crisis. It’s not that it isn’t important, but in France, there is a more self-evidently class-war element. The Italian case is substantially different than both: it’s not an institutional crisis, at least for now. And unlike France, there isn’t opposition to what the government is doing—in fact, there’s a lot of support. In Italy, the main divide isn’t education or age, but region: it’s North vs. South.Mentioned in this Episode:Adam Tooze on EuropeRoberto Saviano on ItalyFurther Learning:Italy vs. EuropeOn the PD’s new leaderWhat is China up to in Southern Europe? And as ever, recommended reading curated by our friends at the LRB can be found here: lrb.co.uk/talking See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Gen. Colin Powell is an American statesman and a retired four-star general in the United States Army. During his military career, Powell also served as National Security Advisor, as Commander of the U.S. Army Forces Command and as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, holding the latter position during the Persian Gulf War. Powell was the first, and so far the only, Jamaican American to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He was the 65th United States Secretary of State, serving under U.S. President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2005, the first black person to serve in that position.General Powell visited Carly in her studio to talk about his life, his experience, and the unlikely lessons he learned from a very average upbringing. In this episode, they discuss:How Colin Powell’s titles (National Security Advisor, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Secretary of State, General) weren’t what made him a leaderWhat he learned talking through the parking lot attendants at the State DepartmentHis definition of character, and it’s significance in leadership and problem solvingHow a leader must define purpose and mission for an organizationWhat Gen. Powell calls the “celebrification of American society”The difference between leaders and managers, and what it takes to make up the differenceWhat to do when your superiors are on the wrong trackThat leaders must have a bias to action, to not walk past a problem, no matter the sizeThe importance of humility in leadershipHis upbringing in the Bronx, and his “long run of mediocrity”The ROTC officers who changed his life and unlocked his potentialHow he strove to improve, even at the Coca Cola bottling plantWhat satisfaction means for himLove the episode? Speaker or Performer: Caleb Petersen Date of Delivery: October 21, 2018 Points of Reform for the Modern ChurchFrom Denominationalism back to the 5-Fold ModelAn Ever-Increasing Revelation of Jesus The New CovenantDeeper Understanding of the Bible its Application TodayHopeful Victorious EschatologyEffective Strategies to Accomplish the Great CommissionWomen in Ministry Women in GeneralTrue Unity Between ChristiansLove Affection Between ChristiansWhat Loving the World Actually Looks LikeWholeness Selfcare*new 95 theses*DenominationalismWe vered from the original model. Why?After apostles died, Platonian (Greek) philosophy took over:Marcionism: the God of Jesus was a different God from the God of the Old Testament.Montanism: relied on prophetic revelations from the Holy Spirit.Adoptionism: Jesus was not born the Son of God, but was adopted at his baptism, resurrection or ascension.Docetism: Jesus was pure spirit and his physical form an illusion.Sabellianism: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three modes of the one God and not the three separate persons of the Trinity.Arianism: Jesus, as the Son, was subordinate to God the Father.Gnosticism: “having knowledge”Derived from interpreting the Biblical text through Platonian (Greek) philosophy.Dualism: All matter is evil, and the non-material, spirit-realm is good.Asceticism: Severe self-discipline and avoidance of all forms of indulgence.Anit-Cosmism: There is an unknowable God, who gave rise to many lesser spirit beings called Aeons. One evil, lower spirit being is the creator who made the universe.High Christology: Jesus’ divinity is real, but a divine being would never subject Himself to a material existence, so Jesus’ humanity isn’t real.No human Jesus, no blood. No blood, no atonement for sin.To achieve salvation, one needs to get in touch with secret knowledge called gnosis.Inverse Exegesis: In biblical exegesis, the opposite of exegesis (to draw out) is eisegesis (to draw in), in the sense of an eisegetic commentator importing or drawing in his or her own purely subjective interpretations into the text, unsupported by the text itself.Wiki: “After the second century, a decline set in, but Gnosticism persisted throughout the centuries as an undercurrent of western culture, re-manifesting with the Renaissance as Western esotericism (mysticism), taking prominence with modern spirituality.”Kris Vallotton on Denominationalism“In my encounter, the Lord said He is going to pour out revelation on this generation that has been held in the vault of heaven for eons of ages. However, if He pours it out on denominationalism then it would rip the wine skin. Why? The nature of revelation is that you have a new idea, and new ideas are not welcome in a wineskin where you have to agree (denominationalism).I’m not talking about denominations; I’m talking about denominationalism. It doesn’t matter what it says over the door of your church, it just matters what you say over the door of your heart. The denominational spirit is just as alive in some apostolic networks as it is in many churches with a denomination. In denominationalism, church leaders preach don’t preach to inspire, they preach to convince. Why? Because when you inspire people, you’re causing them to think, which causes them to have an idea and therefore causes them to have an opinion.Denominationalism doesn’t like opinions because they could lead to disagreements, and under this spirit, disagreement causes splits and division! In denominationalism disagreement is seen as disloyalty. Therefore, there is no freedom for disagreement. Beyond that, how much you value someone is seen by how much you agree with them! What a controlling mess!I’d love to suggest that you have permission to love anyone, whether they agree with you or not. This will keep you out of manipulating people into agreeing with you. What’s the overall point? Each part gets its meaning from the body as a whole, not the other way around. The body we’re talking about is Christ’s body of chosen people. Each of us finds our meaning and function as a part of his body. But as a chopped-off finger or cut-off toe we wouldn’t amount to much, would we? So since we find ourselves fashioned into all these excellently formed and marvelously functioning parts in Christ’s body, let’s just go ahead and be what we were made to be, without enviously or pridefully comparing ourselves with each other, or trying to be something we aren’t.So what are these gifts what should I receive from them?11 And [His gifts to the church were varied and] He Himself appointed some as apostles [special messengers, representatives], some as prophets [who speak a new message from God to the people], some as evangelists [who spread the good news of salvation], and some as pastors and teachers [to shepherd and guide and instruct]Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers5 natural senses → 5 spiritual senses“Just as you use your natural senses to be consciously aware of this earthly existence, each of these gifts equip your spiritual senses to be consciously aware of your spiritual existence, in order that you would come back into wholeness, grow into maturity, effectively carry out the mission of bringing heaven to earth.”ApostleWhat is?Wiki: An apostle, in its most literal sense, is an emissary, from Greek apóstolos, literally one who is sent off, from the verb apostéllein, to send off. The purpose of such sending off is usually to convey a message, and thus messenger is a common alternative translation; other common translations include ambassador and envoy.“Apostles are sent from one place to another place in order to make the place where they were sent look like the place they came from.” - Kris Vallotton“When in Rome, you do as the Romans do.”Apostles are concerned with transformation of culture locally with the whole world into the culture of heaven.Apostles are ambassadors that bring an envoy of heaven everywhere they go. This envoy is there to spiritually transition that region into the kingdom of heaven. They do this by conquering culturizing. If a kingdom has already been set up that doesn’t look like heaven, they conquer it by enforcing their jurisdiction over principalities, and then implement a cultural transformation so that “When in the Kingdom, you do as the King does.”Fear: authority = controlTruth: authority = responsibility to serve empowering self-controlBut how will we get stuff done if no one is in control?Leadership is still not controlling a person, it’s leading them. If they don’t want to follow, they don’t have to.But that much freedom is kind of scary because we can’t predict it! Someone could just leave at any moment! That makes us feel vulnerable and uncomfortable!Well, God is into the love business. And love means empowering free choice.Where is your trust? In God or a person?Do you fully trust Jesus is the healer of the brokenhearted? (Luke 4:18)In 1 Corinthians 12:28, it says “He appointed: first apostles.” They are the first, which means they are the bottom.Luke 22:24-27 AMP 24 Now a dispute also arose among them as to which of them was regarded to be the greatest. 25 Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles have absolute power and lord it over them; and those in authority over them are called ‘Benefactors.’ 26 But it is not to be this way with you; on the contrary, the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest [and least privileged], and the [one who is the] leader, like the servant. 27 For who is the greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves. They are the soil from which we all grow. They often get stepped on overlooked.1 Corinthians 12:23 and as for those parts of the body which we consider less honorable, these we treat with greater honorThe less honorable, the more we honor.Apostles train us how to send and be sent in order to affect the culture around us.Expect to be equipped by this office with:A view of the “blueprints” for bringing heaven to earth transforming cultureA connectedness with the local body of Christ to the body as a wholeAn empowerment to reign in life like Jesus didLeadership skillsHow to maintain a personal corporate visionHow to win: steadfastness persistenceUnrelenting drive to see the kingdom of God manifest on the earth← HONOR THE GIFT → ProphetWhat is?The role of a prophet under the Old Covenant was to keep the nation of Israel accountable to keep their covenant faithfulness to God. They were the intermediaries between God and the people. → they’re between us GodIn the New Covenant, the role of the prophet has changed. We no longer need a middle man between us and God. This is what is meant in Matthew 5:17 when Jesus said He came to fulfill the Law the Prophets. Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God16 For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? You’re motivated to work hard, and you know you want to add value and you want to have a positive impact.” 4:35 [On having Walmart as a first customer] - “When you’re a tiny little startup and Fortune1 becomes your first customer, you learn a lot quickly.” 5:02 “We didn’t have a strong platform to stand on, but we were incredibly passionate about what we had to offer.” 5:54 [On getting Walmart as a client] - “Walmart was a cold call, but it was an informed cold call.” 6:21 “I realized that the problems Walmart had, the challenges Walmart had…when you’re such a big organization, you’re a cross section of society, just like the Marine Corps…so my thinking was, if they had leadership development experiences, especially for their female employees, problems could be caught at the store level.” 7:06 “We just happened to connect with someone inside...
