Recognizing this, Deepti Brambl, Founder of Kaylaan, developed an innovative alternative: toothpaste tablets. The eco-friendly product eliminates the need for plastic packaging while providing a healthier, more sustainable oral care solution.“Toothpaste tablets are not a new concept,” Deepti explained in today's episode, “but for me, it was important to come up with a solution that is not just plastic-friendly but also chemical-free. All of our products are natural, which ties back to how I was raised.”Kaylaan has also expanded into mouthwash tablets and patented bamboo electric toothbrushes, solidifying their commitment to green innovation. The toothbrushes, with recycled plastic handles to combat mold growth, are fully compostable striking the balance between sustainability and practicality. This eco-conscious ethos stems from Deepti's Nepalese heritage, where everything was reused. After moving to the U.S., she was struck by the plastic waste culture and wanted to create an alternative that redefined oral care. She started small, testing products on Etsy. Her toothpaste tablets stood out, quickly becoming a bestseller thanks to community feedback. The company's community-centered approach is evident in the evolution of their product line, including fluoride-based formulas, strawberry- and watermelon-flavored tablets for kids, and neem-based tablets. Customers' input continues to shape Kaylaan's innovations: “Whoever came to us with requests, we worked on it,” Deepti noted. In just a few years, Kaylaan has earned B Corp certification twice, reflecting its strong commitment to sustainability. Revenue from crowdfunding has been instrumental in scaling operations. Deepti highlighted how funds from a $45,000 raise helped move the company into a new facility, upgrade machines, and achieve compliance with FDA and GMP protocols.Currently, Kaylaan is raising capital through regulated investment crowdfunding on Honeycomb Credit. This presents an exciting opportunity for sustainability-minded investors to support Deepti's vision of redefining oral care.Deepti's journey exemplifies the power of mission-driven innovation. By tackling environmental challenges head-on, Kaylaan is demonstrating how purpose and profitability can coexist in harmony.tl;dr:Kaylaan develops eco-friendly toothpaste tablets to reduce waste and promote sustainable dental care.Deepti Brambl draws inspiration from her Nepalese heritage to drive innovation at Kaylaan.Crowdfunding on Honeycomb Credit has empowered Kaylaan to scale operations and achieve regulatory compliance.Customer feedback has shaped Kaylaan's diverse products, including fluoride-based and neem-flavored options.Deepti's resilience and passion for sustainability have propelled Kaylaan's mission to new heights. How to Develop Resilience As a SuperpowerDeepti's superpower is resilience—the ability to rise after setbacks and turn challenges into opportunities. She explained, “You fall as many times as possible, because that's where real creativity, real strength, and real learning happen.” Her perseverance fuels Kaylaan, as Deepti embraces obstacles as steppingstones for growth, strength, and creativity.Deepti vividly recounted the 10-hour ordeal of relocating a 5,000-pound tablet-press machine to a new manufacturing facility. After renting a forklift that couldn't manage the task, she worked with a team of local professionals to resolve the situation. Despite setbacks, her persistence resulted in more efficient production and significant quality improvements for Kaylaan's products.Tips to Develop Resilience:View challenges as opportunities for creativity and growth.Accept failure as part of learning and keep moving forward.Build strong community and business relationships for support during tough circumstances.Prioritize preparation upfront to avoid costly mistakes later.Embrace the idea that obstacles are a pathway to innovation and strength.By following Deepti's example and advice, you can make resilience a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. The summer heat is here and so is a heavier load on our country's electrical grid. The U.S. Northeast, Northwest, and areas of Texas and California face an elevated risk of blackouts from extreme weather and overextended power grids. From A Glossary of the People, Places, and Events of Alkyon The Mourner— A god of death, grief, beginnings and endings, traditionally revered by the elves of the northern island. Whether the elven celebration of death as a gift and an honor, rather than as a loss, comes from the influence of The Mourner's adherents, or The Mourner gained the prominence she did because of that belief is, historically, unclear. In elven funerary rites, the elves appointed to stand vigil for the deceased are believed not just to be representatives of The Mourner herself, but true avatars of her for the period of the ritual. That's exactly how Darnell Stewart approached the 126-year-old firehouse he has owned for decades, envisioning it as more than just a structure, but as a hub of life and community for Detroit.Darnell is bringing that vision to life by transforming the firehouse into a co-living community for first responders, traveling medical professionals, and other essential workers. He calls it The Firehouse Detroit. “We like the Firehouse Detroit to be a community hub for those individuals, whether or not they're visiting the city or here on training,” he explained during today's episode. This project is designed not just to honor the history of the old fire station but also to provide practical, modern functionality for a sector of workers who are vital to our communities. The vision integrates dormitory-style accommodation, training facilities, and spaces to relax and connect with others from similar fields. It's about creating a space where professionals who serve others can recharge and build camaraderie in an environment that feels like home.Turning this long-abandoned building into a thriving community hub hasn't been without challenges, however. Traditional financing wasn't an option for the project. “We've also been told that the firehouse is such a unique project that a lot of lenders don't feel comfortable,” Darnell shared. That's why he turned to the power of regulated crowdfunding through the Small Change platform.Crowdfunding has enabled him to turn obstacles into opportunities, inviting the community to be a part of his mission. “Small Change was an excellent option in order to allow other individuals to come onto the project,” he said.Darnell's efforts represent both a labor of love and a bold entrepreneurial move to preserve Detroit's history while addressing practical needs in the community. With the campaign underway, he's pushing forward, inviting all of us to share in the dream of transforming something abandoned into something vital. After decades of service to Detroit's Fire Department, Darnell isn't done giving back. Instead, he's just getting started.tl;dr:Darnell Stewart is turning a 126-year-old Detroit firehouse into a co-living hub for first responders. The Firehouse Detroit will include dormitory-style living, training areas, and spaces for community connection.Crowdfunding via Small Change is enabling community engagement and project funding despite traditional lending challenges.Darnell's superpower is seeing potential in neglected things and transforming them into valuable assets.Restoring properties has allowed Darnell to uplift neighborhoods, inspire change, and continue giving back to Detroit. How to Develop Seeing Potential As a SuperpowerDarnell's remarkable superpower is his ability to transform overlooked and neglected things—whether it's a building, a community, or people—into valuable and thriving assets. “Even being with the fire service for over 35 years, when things got messy, we were trained in order to keep things moving,” he explained. His belief that nothing is ever so broken that it can't be restored drives every project he takes on, from abandoned homes to forgotten firehouses.Darnell shared how he has spent decades restoring neglected residential properties in Detroit, a city that has seen both highs and lows. One project involved turning a particularly worn-down home into a “shining star” for its neighborhood. By investing in its restoration, Darnell not only transformed the property but also uplifted the entire street's morale, inspiring other residents to improve their neighboring homes. It's a small example of how his vision ignites bigger change.Tips for Developing This Superpower:Look beyond current flaws to identify the potential in people, projects, or places.Stay committed to restoration or improvement, even when faced with significant obstacles.Seek out role models and mentors who have overcome similar challenges to guide your efforts.Maintain a clear vision of the “end game” and trust that someone has solved similar problems before.By following Darnell's example and advice, you can make “seeing potential” a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. Looking for daily inspiration? Get a quote from the top leaders in the industry in your inbox every morning. Alyse Sklover is the Senior Manager of Events and Partnerships at ROLLER. Her career in the attractions industry began at The Walt Disney Company, where she worked in merchandise and entertainment in Tomorrowland before transitioning into the music industry. After studying at Rosen College of Hospitality Management, she returned to attractions at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, later joining IAAPA during the pandemic as the FEC and LBE liaison. Following a role with Escapology, she joined ROLLER, where she now focuses on events and community marketing initiatives that strengthen collaboration across the attractions industry. In this interview, Alyse talks about “nail it before you scale it,” collaboration as our power-up, and letting your guests be mad. Nail it before you scale it “Make sure that your focus really is on nailing it before you scale it.” Alyse emphasized that attractions often become so focused on creating memorable “wow” moments that they overlook the operational basics guests expect. Drawing from her experience at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, she explained that safety, cleanliness, and consistency must come before entertainment enhancements. She pointed out that no amount of “pixie dust” can overcome overflowing trash cans, unsafe walkways, or poor food quality. She also connected this philosophy to larger entertainment brands. While she admires the creativity and energy of many organizations, she believes the industry sometimes becomes overly focused on spectacle instead of operational fundamentals. Alyse argued that once a company reliably delivers on core expectations, the added entertainment elements become much more impactful. Collaboration as our power-up “Collaboration is my absolute favorite thing. And the power up for sure, it's what keeps this industry going.” Alyse described community marketing as a way to strengthen the already collaborative nature of the attractions industry. Rather than building competing platforms or sales-focused events, her goal is to make existing resources more accessible to operators who are often stretched thin. She discussed creating regional events, roundtables, and resource hubs that help operators connect, learn, and support one another. She believes attractions are unique because competitors openly share ideas, strategies, and best practices. Alyse shared a story about one roller skating operator willingly allowing another operator in the same state to copy her liability waiver because she simply wanted to help. She noted that poor experiences at one attraction can negatively impact perceptions of the entire industry, which motivates operators to collectively raise standards rather than protect information. Letting your guests be mad “Just let me be upset. I'm not mad at you. This is not your failure. You're trying to make it right, but just let me be upset.” Guest recovery is one of Alyse's biggest passions, and much of her philosophy was shaped during her time at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, where rocket launches could be scrubbed moments before liftoff. She explained that guests often traveled internationally and built entire vacations around launches, making those emotional disappointments incredibly difficult to recover from. Instead of immediately trying to “fix” emotions, she learned the importance of first allowing guests to feel disappointed and heard. Alyse also stressed the importance of empowering frontline employees to resolve issues quickly. Crew members were given tools and recovery options they could offer immediately without waiting for management approval. She believes silence and delays only escalate frustration, while empathy and decisive action build trust. In many cases, she argued that a well-handled recovery can create a more loyal guest than an experience where nothing went wrong at all. Tiger Talk Podcast by Northeast Mississippi Community College
Northeast Mississippi Community College President Dr. Ricky G. Ford and Marketing and Public Relations Specialist Liz Calvery look at some of the big projects that the college has going on on the Booneville campus. Ford highlights the ongoing renovations to the men's residence hall -- White Hall - and the significant improvements taking place to enhance student living spaces. He also discusses the Career Technical Education (CTE) build-out at the former Corinthian building on MS-4, noting the multi-phase approach with the first stage set to begin in late summer or early fall of 2026 to develop new classroom spaces. By relocating a majority of the college's CTE programs to the new facility, additional space will become available on the Booneville campus to expand healthcare programs and increase the number of graduates in high-demand medical fields. Ford also provides an update on the Seth Pounds Auditorium renovation, sharing that contractors are on schedule -- and in some cases ahead -- with completion now anticipated in spring 2027. Ford also discusses the Public Safety Training Center that will make Northeast one of the premier locations for training of public safety officials in the state. In addition, Ford touches on several other campus improvement projects, emphasizing that each carries its own timeline but will ultimately enhance the overall student experience in meaningful ways. Plus, get the latest updates on athletics, academics, workforce development, and all the incredible things happening at one of the nation's premier community colleges.
The Met Office has issued a rare red 'extreme heat' warning for parts of southern England, the Midlands and southern Wales for tomorrow and Thursday with amber warnings already in place more widely in England and Wales. Some fire services are warning of a increased risk of wildfires as temperatures are set to reach the high 30s. It comes just as the government's announced a one hundred million pound investment to help tackle wildfires, to offer better protection for the countryside and rural communities after some truly devastating fires last summer: 2025 broke the record for the number of wild fires reported in the UK. The Fire Chiefs' Council's Wildfire Tactical Advisor tells us the new strategic teams will be trained in skills needed to tackle large scale ferocious blazes, which are becoming more frequent in the UK.Sheep shearing is an international industry and each summer between 50 and 75 professional shearers from overseas take out temporary visas to work with the UK flock. But the government says this is the last year they'll allow that to happen and that the sheep industry needs to train up more home-grown shearers. To cope with the demand, British Wool is laying on extra courses around the country. All this week we are looking at agri-tourism, how farmers are boosting their incomes with everything from farm safaris and events for foodies to the traditional campsite. Today we visit a small hill farm in the Glens of Antrim which has reinvented itself as the venue for heritage events.Presenter: Caz Graham Producer: Sarah Swadling

A federal judge has tossed out U.S. Justice Department subpoenas targeting Gov. Tim Walz and other state and local leaders. Judge Patrick Schiltz called the subpoenas an “unlawful and unethical use of the grand jury process.” The subpoenas were part of a criminal investigation into whether state officials were obstructing federal immigration enforcement. Schiltz wrote that evidence the subpoenas were issued for unlawful reasons was “overwhelming,” and said the investigation appeared designed to harass political opponents and pressure them into taking federal action.A new study recommends Minnesota take action to prevent groundwater contaminated with PFAS from spreading in the Twin Cities east metro. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency report recommends pumping groundwater and removing PFAS. The treated water would then be sent to cities for drinking, or returned to the underground aquifer. Decades ago, 3M disposed of chemical waste containing PFAS at several sites in the east metro, where the chemicals leaked into the environment.About 75,000 spectators are expected to attend the Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota this week. Competition began Monday at the University of Minnesota and the National Sports Center in Blaine. The games bring together more than 3,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from all 50 states. Through signs and stories, questions and conversations, light and life, John calls us again and again to “come and see.” Over the next year, we'll walk with Jesus from the opening words—“In the beginning”—to the empty tomb, discovering how encountering Christ shapes our faith, our hope, and our everyday lives. She sat down with Jay Schwedelson at Eventastic to break down how she now fuels an entire coaching business with the same live webinar every single Monday, no replay and no apologies. If you've ever told yourself your best material is too repetitive to run again, her answer might change your mind.ㅤBest Moments:(04:15) Amy's reframe for anyone facing a big pivot, the idea that you have earned your elevation.(07:46) The Tony Robbins lesson that stuck with her: growth means being uncomfortable about ninety percent of the time.(12:06) A Claude project audits her webinar every week and nudged conversions up four percent with tiny tweaks.(17:44) Her fix for boring webinars: make the first five minutes about them and get to the pitch by the forty-five-minute mark.(20:32) The in-person event mistake she kept making: teaching too much when people actually wanted time to connect.(25:35) The simple three-part email that pulled a hundred thousand dollars in three days from a list she already had.
