Unlike Twitter, Identi.ca was open source and federated, allowing independent networks to interconnect.Prodromou, a co-author of ActivityPub—the W3C standard for decentralized networking used by platforms like Mastodon—discusses the evolution of the fediverse on The New Stack Makers podcast. He notes that small social networks dwindled to a few giants, such as Twitter and Facebook, which rarely interconnected. Des Argentiniers Manuel Puig Leitmotiv ist der Film und seine suggesitve Wirkung auf das Individuum. In seinen Werken geht es um die Verschlungenheit von Kitsch (Ästhetik) und Politik (Ethik), um die Verführbarkeit und Manipulation durch Projektion von Sehnsucht und gebrochene Identiät. Dargestellt an seinem Schlüsselroman "Der Kuss der Spinnenfrau" werden Handlung und Verschränkung von Realität und Fiktion deutlich. Die Frührwerke "Verrat von Rita Hayworth" und "Der schönste Tango der Welt " vertiefen diesen Eindruck. Dabei kommen innovative Schreibtechniken, das Narrativ der Postmoderne, zum Tragen.

Have you ever felt uncomfortable because of mixed emotions, or even conflicting emotions? We rarely feel one thing at a time. You don't have to choose, push away or talk yourself out of either one emotion or the other. They can exist as a “both” and an “and”!  Allow the coexistence of the emotions. In fact, one emotion is likely because of the existence of the other and is often potentiated because of it! Name the emotions, because the subtle nuances of the emotions, once recognized, allow for self regulation. And in relationships, it's actually something somewhere in the complexity that allows us to find at least one thing that we connect and share in the human experience.  While we are multifaceted individuals with complex emotions, concurrently we are simply enough, just as we are.  

The Helmet of Salvation protects us in similar ways as the Belt of Truth and the Breastplate of Righteousness. We need to protect our mind from Satan’s deceiving lies and false teachings—it is after all a helmet meant to protect the head. But it specifically deals with our salvation, which like the Breastplate of Righteousness, assures us against Satan’s accusations meant to discourage us and cause us to doubt our relationship with God and our usability to Him and His Kingdom. So the Helmet of Salvation further protects us against both of these schemes of the Devil, but in a different way.

So wie wir uns jetzt im kalten November den Sommer und im Hochsommer verschwitzt wiederum gerne den kühleren Herbst zurückwünschen, steht Asako im Film zwischen Baku und Ryohei. Auch wenn Baku und Ryohei gleich aussehen, könnten sie sich kaum mehr unterscheiden. Baku lebt in den Tag, streunt durch die Welt, wird zum Model und Fernsehstar, Ryohei wiederum arbeitet in einer Firma und hat einen Bürojob, führt ein gemächliches Leben. Und doch sind sie Dopplungen voneinander und zwischen ihnen steht Asako, deren Identiät auch nicht in Stein gemeißelt ist. Wen lieben wir und wie verändert diese Liebe uns selbst? Welche Fragmente von anderen Menschen tragen wir uns? Wie sind Theater und vor allem das Kino hier eingebunden? Diesen und weiteren spannenden Fragen widmen wir uns anlässlich dieses großartigen Films in unserer heutigen Ausgabe.

Wenige Tage bevor George Floyd starb, hatten wir uns Spike Lees BLACKKKLANSMAN angeschaut, also bitte nicht wundern, wenn wir auf seinen Tod und die aktuellen Proteste gegen rassistische Gewalt gegen Schwarze nicht eingehen. Spike Lee verfilmt hier eine wahre Begebenheit: Der schwarze Polizist Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) hatte sich in den 1970er Jahren am Telefon als rassistischer Weißer ausgegeben und sich fernmündlich in den Kukluxklan hineingeredet. Um aber vor Ort tatsächlich die Rolle weiter zu spielen, muss ein weißer Polizeikollege (Adam Driver) die Rolle übernehmen. Die Sinnlosigkeit der Rassenvorurteile wird augenfällig vorgeführt. In dieser Situation, in der zwei Männer gemeinsam eine Identiät übernehmen, hinterfragen die beiden auch ihre eigene Identität als Schwarzer und als Jude. Das ganze Verwirrspiel hat seinen komischen Höhepunkt, als es dem schwarzen Polizisten gelingt, ein Polaroid-Foto Arm in Arm mit dem Klan-Chef zu machen. Im Podcast direkt nach dem Film ordnet Heidi den Film ein in die amerikanische Realität, in der der Rassismus tief verwurzelt ist und der Faktor ist, der die US-amerikanische Gesellschaft prägt. Wir diskutieren das Spannungsverhältnis zwischen dem sehr ernsten Thema und dem unterhaltsamen und sehr komischen Charakter des Films: Die erste Reaktion von Thomas: „Ich habe mehr Spaß gehabt als ich hätte haben dürfen“, wird von Bettina gleich als White Protestant Point of View einsortiert. Für Bettina ist es die eigentliche Leistung des Films, dass ein Film mit toller Musik, der spannend, lustig und sexy ist, den systemischen Rassismus erklären kann. Das gelingt Spike Lee, in dem er unterschiedliche Elemente miteinander konfrontiert – zum Beispiel erklärt ein älterer Zeitzeuge und Bürgerrechtler (Harry Belafonte) seinen schwarzen Zuhörern die Hintergründe eines Lynchmordes an einem jungen Schwarzen 1916, während in einem anderen Raum gleichzeitig die Klanangehörigen „Birth of a Nation“ von Griffith als rassistischen Film deuten und bejubeln. Die beiden Szenen schneidet Lee höchst wirkungsvoll gegeneinander. Am Ende entlässt Spike Lee die Zuschauer in die Gegenwart, zeigt die Neonazi-Umzüge in Charlottesville, die Gleichsetzung der Neonazis und der Gegendemonstranten durch Trump und den Mord an einer Demonstrantin. Damit spätestens hebt er erfolgreich den Feelgood-Moment seines Films wieder auf. Direkt nach dem Film per Videokonferenz an den Mikrofonen: Heidi, Bettina und Thomas. This Might Surprise You! We have already mentioned that the scrum framework is not only a software engineering process. It also has a robust set of underlying principles. In fact, most of the professional business domains can apply and utilize these principles. It's not enough to get a scrum certification to be hugely successful with the scrum. You should possess a firm grasp for scrum values to succeed with the Scrum framework So that you're going to deliver a great job and fantastic software that your customers and employers love. Let me now tell you more about those principles of the scrum process. Scrum Value #1. Courage There are times when doing the correct thing to serve the best values and benefits for our clients are not the easiest. In such moments, scrum master, scrum product owner, and the scrum team members should remember their duty and obligation. That’s to build the best possible products and services in their particular business and information technology domain. To be better than mediocre, a scrum team should sooner or later face difficult decisions that won’t make everyone happy in their particular ecosystem of stakeholders. To deal with this, all members of the scrum team should remember what they learned during their scrum certification training. They should remember to be courageous, and they should master to decide and act courageously. Scrum Value #2. Focus With the scrum framework, when you hear the value focus, you should be thinking about two things: Identification of correct work: What tasks are necessary to deliver the goals of my sprint? What are essential to developing the best software products and services for my clients so that they will be pleased with my work?Prioritization: What tasks should I be working on next? Each moment in time, there is one critical question that the entire scrum team, including scrum master and product owner, must be answering. This question is: “What are the most important things we should be doing at the moment to fulfil reasons of why an employer hired us in the first place?” Scrum framework has several built-in events (rituals) to ensure the reasonable prioritization of user stories and tasks. According to the scrum process, the prioritization of user stories and their associated tasks should have a continuous priority. So we make sure that the scrum team works on the right things in the correct order. Some of the built-in scrum ceremonies (scrum events) to prioritize our work and adjust our focus are: Scrum Grooming (Backlog Refinement) Meeting: Grooming Meeting solely focuses on prioritization for Product Backlog to prepare it before the upcoming Sprint Planning Meeting.Sprint Planning Meeting: These meetings help us see the dependencies and correct order of work to deliver our user stories.Daily Scrum Meeting: Daily Scrum (Daily Stand-Up) Meeting supports us to set the tone of an upcoming workday. We must direct our focus on where it’s most required.Sprint Review Meeting: Sprint review meeting indirectly shows us where the emphasis of the 21 scrum team must be channeling to have more successful reviews in the future.Sprint Retrospective Meeting: These meetings support the scrum team to prioritize what aspects of their engineering process must be first improved. Here in this section, I covered scrum rituals only from a focus point of view. You can find a more detailed explanation about the scrum ceremonies later in this material. Having read all these, it must be evident for you now how essential prioritization and focus for the scrum framework are. Scrum Value #3. Commitment Without the commitment of scrum master, scrum product owner, and the scrum team, there is no possibility to deliver outstanding results with software. In the world of the scrum software development process, most people translate the commitment value as the agreement and confinement of goals of given sprint deliverables. Although this entirely makes sense, that understanding is not flawless. Whenever you hear the word “commitment” within the context of scrum values; what you should remember is the word: “obsession”. To be successful in software engineering and, in life and business, you should become obsessed with your goals. So in the context of the scrum process, you should become obsessed with creating marvelous software for your clients to solve their problems. Why are commitment and the associated obsession with scrum goals so important? Because without the obsession with the team’s mi ssi on to bui l d and del i ver astoni shi ng software, each time the scrum team encounters a non-trivial impediment, your work will slow down and stall. Then the scrum master and the scrum team will start creating explanations to justify and legitimize for scrum product owner why they’re unable to deliver sprint goals. Excuses should have no more room in your team if your goal is to become a better than an average scrum team. Only with an enormously high level of dedication, it’s relatively more comfortable and fulfilling to solve the problems of our clients and help and build value for them with software. Scrum Value #4. Respect Regardless of their age, gender, race, belief, experience, competence, opinions, and work performance, every member of a scrum team must respect and count on each other. This respect is not only confined within the boundary of the scrum team. Moreover, every internal or external IT and business stakeholder who interacts with the scrum team is utterly respected and welcomed by a scrum team. Experienced team members must pay attention in order not to invalidate the willingness of the contribution from less experienced team members. It’s particularly crucial to properly receive and answer opposite opinions that the majority of the group do not agree with. Scrum Value #5. Openness The scrum value “openness” is often one of the primary differentiators between an average and high-performer scrum team. It would help if you resembled the openness capability of a scrum team to the vast ability of a collection of open minded individuals. They’re creative, innovative, intellectual, honest, direct, and humble. In the scrum software engineering and delivery process, there is no inappropriate opinion, decision, and action. The only condition is that they must be transparent, and they should aim to contribute to the joint mission of the scrum team. It doesn’t mean that every decision and action must necessarily accelerate the outputs of the scrum team, and they should result in substantial success stories. Thanks to openness and courage values, the scrum software development group is not afraid of making mistakes. They see their errors and less than optimal outcomes as vital chances to meaningfully improve their overall productivity and quality of work.

Stress is part of everyday life. And while acute and short periods of stress can help to overcome challenges, exposure to chronic - and especially uncontrollable - stress can lead to maladaption of the organism, which can ultimately increase the risk of disease. However, vulnerability to stress and vulnerability to risk increases are strongly dependent on the individual. The molecular underpinnings of this vulnerability and resilience are still largely unknown. Therefore, the present thesis aims at identifying novel molecules involved in modulating individual stress vulnerability in the brain of male mice. In a first step, we investigated long-term gene expression changes in the hippocampus of male mice that underwent chronic social stress. Adolescent male CD1 mice were subjected to 7 weeks of chronic social stress and were investigated after 5 weeks of recovery via an unbiased whole-genome approach utilising microarray technology. Here, we did not find strong differences caused by the stress exposure, possibly because not all animals were affected by the stress exposure. Nevertheless, we identified Iffo1 as a gene that seems to be affected by at least acute stress and might also be involved in the long-term effect of chronic stress exposure. In the next step, we classified the animals from the same paradigm into stress-vulnerable and stress-resilient individuals based on their corticosterone levels after recovery. Animals which still showed elevated levels of corticosterone 5 weeks after stress were defined as vulnerable, while animals in which levels returned to baseline comparable to controls were termed stress resilient. With an additional whole-genome experiment, we were able to show distinct patterns of gene expression between the groups, including genes like Arc, Gria1 and Gria2. In addition, we also investigated differences in peripheral lymphocytes, which showed regulation in genes like Hsp90b1 or SLA. When we compared the expression profiles between brain and peripheral blood, we showed that stress-vulnerable and stress-resilient animals show different patterns of correlations. In the final part of the thesis, we decreased the expression of Arc, one of the genes we found overrepresented in vulnerable individuals, in the hippocampal formation of male mice via AAV-mediated shRNA knockdown. As we performed the modulation of Arc before the stress exposure, we were able to investigate the causal influence of Arc expression on stress exposure. Animals that were subjected to 3 weeks of chronic social defeat, showed an increase in anxiety-related behaviour, impairment in spatial memory, an increase in social behaviour and did not differ in depression-like behaviour. Concomitant with the behavioural alterations, stressed animals showed alterations in multiple physiological parameters, like increased adrenal glands or corticosterone response. Intriguingly, we were able to prevent most of the behavioural, but not the physiological, changes with the Arc knockdown. This strongly suggests that Arc is at least partly causally involved in the molecular machinery that underlies stress vulnerability. As Arc is a downstream molecule in multiple pathways already connected to stress vulnerability or stress in general, it might be that Arc actually is one of the major molecular factors that translate the effects of these pathways.

Zusammenfassung O ene Sternhaufen stellen als Gruppen von Sternen gleichen Alters und aufgrund ihres Ursprungs gleicher chemischer Zusammensetzung ein einzigartiges Labor zum Test von Sternentwicklungsmodellen dar. Diese Arbeit beschaftigt sich dabei mit dem o enen Sternhaufen Melotte 111 und den Pleiaden. Um Beobachtung und Modell vergleichen zu konnen, ist es dabei notwendig die stellaren Parameter E ektivtemperatur, Gravitationsbeschleunigung, Metallizitat und Mikroturbulenz mit gro tmoglicher Prazision fur Sterne im gesamten in o enen Haufen vorkommenden Parameterbereich zu messen. Um diesem Anspruch gerecht zu werden wird im Rahmen dieser Arbeit das Opacity Sampling Modellatmospharenprogramm MAFAGS-OS eingefuhrt. Auf einer Datenbasis von mehr als 20 Millionen gebunden-gebunden Ubergangen von Elementen der Ionisationsstufen I, II und III sowie 11 diatomischen Molekulen basierend werden Methoden der Linienauswahl, sowie ein geeignetes Stutzstellengitter fur Sterne der Spektraltypen A, F und G fur Entwicklungsstadien von der Hauptreihe bis zum Turno und Sterne verschiedener Metallizitat untersucht und festgelegt. MAFAGS-OS erweist sich im Vergleich mit der solaren Flussverteilung und den " Farben der Sonneals herkommlichen Opacity Distribution Function (ODF) Modellen uberlegen. In dieser Arbeit wurde die Oberflaechensegregation bei Legierungen mittels niederenergetischer Ionenstreuung (Low Energy Ion Scattering, LEIS) am Beispiel von CuAu untersucht. Waehrend der Arbeit wurden Methoden weiterentwickelt und insbesondere bei der Computersimulation neu entwickelt. Die Vorgehensweisen sind nicht auf das hier untersuchte System beschraenkt, sondern koennen mit leichten Modifikationen auf andere uebertragen werden. Ziel der Arbeit war es, die Au-Konzentration der ersten und zweiten Atomlage der (100)-Oberflaeche der binaeren Legierung CuAu in Abhaengigkeit von der Temperatur zu bestimmen. Cu1−xAux ist ein in Bezug auf die Volumenverhaeltnisse bestens untersuchtes klassisches System mit einem Ordnungs-Unordnungs-Phasenuebergang erster Ordnung. Zwei der drei wichtigsten stoechiometrischen Kompositionen, naemlich CuAu3 und insbesondere Cu3Au sind auch hinsichtlich ihres Verhaltens an der Oberflaeche eingehend untersucht. Fuer CuAu findet man wenig Information. Es zeigt sich, daß die Analyse der zweiten Atomlage von besonderem Interesse ist. Hier unterscheiden sich (mit Ausnahme von idealen Loesungen) monotone und oszillatorische Kompositionsprofile, was Rueckschluesse auf die Art der Nachbarwechselwirkungen zulaeßt (Legierungen mit Entmischungstendenz und ordnende Legierungen respektive). Die Auswertung der Ionenstreuintensitaeten aus der zweiten Lage ist jedoch durch Fokussierungsund Neutralisationseffekte kompliziert und konnte bisher nur modellartig ueber Parameterbestimmung behandelt werden. In dieser Arbeit wurde die quantitative Auswertung der Intensitaetsverteilungen aus LEIS-Experimenten erstmals nur mit Hilfe von Computersimulationen durchgefuehrt. Damit wurde die Au-Konzentration der zweiten Atomlage bestimmt. Die notwendigen Eichungen der Streupotentiale und der thermischen Vibrationsamplituden der Oberflaeche wurden an Eichproben der reinen Komponenten, Cu(100)und Au(110)(1×2), durchgef¨uhrt. Die kritische Groeße fuer die Potentiale ist die Abschirmlaenge. Sie wurde fuer 1.5 keV Na+-Streuung fuer Cu zu 77% und fuer Au zu 95% des Firsov’schen Wertes bestimmt. Diese Ergebnisse wurden durch Ausnutzung der Vielfachstreuung gewonnen und nicht, wie sonst ueblich, mit Hilfe von sehr aufwendig zu simulierenden Polarscans welche nur zu Kontrolle verwendet wurden. Die Variation der Vibrationsamplituden zeigte, daß sich fuer die Anpassung an LEIS-Resultate Uebereinstimmung mit theoretischen Literaturwerten ergibt. Gleichzeitig zeigte sich, daß zur Anpassung bestimmter experimentellen Intensitaeten eine Gitterrelaxation senkrecht zur Oberflaeche von etwa 7% einbezogen werden muß, was mit den Literaturwerten hinsichtlich der tetragonalen Einheitszelle von geordnetem CuAu in Einklang steht. Mit dem so gewonnenen Datensatz und der di- rekt aus der He+-Streuung bestimmten Au-Konzentration der ersten Atomlage konnte durch Vergleich von Simulationsrechnungen mit Realraumkartierungen der gemessenen Intensitaeten erstmals die Komposition der ersten und zweiten Atomlage von CuAu(100) bestimmt werden. Es zeigt sich Au-Segregation in Verbindung mit leicht gestoerter idealer Volumenterminierung. Oberhalb der Uebergangsemperatur des Phasenuebergangs im Volumen faellt die Au-Konzentration von urspruenglich 95% in der ersten Lage auf 75% bei 750◦C ab, gleichzeitig steigt sie in der zweiten Lage von 5% auf etwa 30% an. Eine rein statistische Gleichverteilung wird erkenbar bis nahe an den Schmelzpunkt nicht erreicht. Fuer die Segregationsenergie wurde ein Wert von -0.3 eV ermittelt. Die Ergebnisse werden mit Simulationsrechnungen von Terser verglichen und zeigen sehr gute Uebereinstimmung, was moeglicherweise mit der guten Beschreibbarkeit der Segregation von CuAu mit Paarwechselwirkungspotentialen zusammenhaengt. Ferner wurden die Computersimulationsmethoden verbessert: Der 3D-Code MARLOWE wurde hinsichtlich Simulationsleistung gesteigert: laengere Variablen und Erweiterung zur Beruecksichtigung unterschiedlicher Vibrationsamplituden fuer vertikale und parallele Auslenkungen. Es wurde eine neue Routine zur Analyse von Trajektoriendaten entwickelt. Dabei zeigt sich, daß die hier vorangetriebene Trajektorienaufgel¨oste Analyse von LEIS-Spektren n¨utzlich ist fuer: Die Interpretation von Spektren mit einem substantiellen Anteil an Vielfachstreubeitraegen, den Gebrauch von Neutralisationsmodellen in Streusimulationen, die Bestimmung von spezifischen Neutralisationsparametern und die Identifikation von Strukturrelevanten Streuprozessen (z.B. bei rekonstruierten Oberflaechen und geordneten Legierungen).
