Yes: use “Pause, Part, Punch.” Pause before you speak, insert a brief “part” between your first and last name, then punch (emphasise) your surname. The pause stops the mental scroll, the parting creates a clean boundary (helpful in loud rooms or across accents), and the punch leaves a sticky final note—useful in Japan, the US, and Europe where surnames often carry professional identity. Executives at multinationals and SMEs alike can coach teams to deploy this consistently at trade shows, chambers of commerce events, and alumni nights. Why Japanese buyers demand sharper differentiation in today's competitive market Many companies thought that surviving the global pandemic would reduce competition. Instead, by 2025 the business environment in Japan has become even more intense. Buyers have more choices, new competitors are entering the market, and digital transformation is raising expectations. Today, if your Unique Selling Propositions (USPs) are vague or outdated, you risk being treated as a replaceable commodity. Why are Unique Selling Propositions still so critical in 2025? In today's market, uncertainty is constant. Inflationary pressures, geopolitical instability, and shifting customer needs mean buyers are cautious about whom they partner with. In Japan, risk reduction remains paramount—executives will only commit if they feel reassured that your offering is safe and superior. A strong USP is no longer optional. It must demonstrate not only why you are different but also why you are the least risky choice in a volatile economy. Companies like Toyota or NTT still look for partners that can prove stability and reliability as much as innovation. Cidadão Kane é um daqueles clássicos do cinema que estão entre os filmes que precisam ser assistidos por aquelas pessoas que querem estudar a sétima arte. Mas para além disso, o filme de Orson Welles, de 1941 traz elementos e inovações que talvez hoje em dia com o distanciamento histórico, seja mais fácil de captar. Robert Wise, o editor/motador de Cidadão Kane, fez esse filme quando tinha apenas 27 anos. Some of us may have learned the role and meaning of money through board games such as Monopoly, and video games such as Super Mario Brothers or through allowance we received from our parents in real life. Some people instinctively ace the game of money and have a large list of things they can buy, and a lot of people are just getting by, others are sadly scraping by. お金は小さい頃から私たちの生活に定着しています。私たちは子供のころ様々な方法で、お金の意味や役割を学びました。それはスーパーマリオなどのテレビゲームやモノポリーなどのボードゲームを通してだったり、親からのお小遣いや親せきからのお年玉などを通してだったりします。世の中にはマネーゲームを楽々と圧勝する人々がいる中、多くの人は日々を上手くやりくりしています。中には何とか食いつないでいる人もいるでしょう。 So what is money? We learn about the origin of a currency system, where people started using tokens instead of barter exchange. I often hear the following: Money is a tool. Money is energy. Time is money. Money is a store of value. I won't go too deep on the philosophical route about money here, but I would like to make space to think about money in the next few series as its form is constantly changing, whether that's credit cards, digital currency, or cryptocurrency.
