According to the State of Sales Enablement Report 2024, organizations are 80% more likely to increase their win rate when using a unified platform for all of their enablement needs. So how can you leverage a unified platform to drive sales productivity?Shawnna Sumaoang: Hi, and welcome to the Win-Win podcast. I’m your host, Shawnna Sumaoang. Join us as we dive into changing trends in the workplace and how to navigate them successfully. Here to discuss this topic is Karl-Philippe Clement, the VP of Sales and customer experience at RIB software. Thank you for joining us KP. I’d love for you to tell us about yourself, your background, and your role. Karl-Philippe Clement: Yeah, well the pleasure is all mine. I’m responsible for everything which is sales operations. We very often call it, or sales excellence related to software company RIB software. We do sell software for the construction industry. We were acquired by Schneider Electric. It was a lot of smaller company, and now we are consolidating our approach, working much closer with the software. Of Schneider Electric, and we have possibility also to improve our sales enablement, but also our sales approach and sales operation for our market. So I’ve been hired two years ago by this company specifically for this approach for sales operation. Previously I worked for Bosch Rexroth and Siemens, and I was there 6 and 16 years respectively. I was able to really focus on growing sales operation and sales improvement along the way. SS: Wonderful. Well, we’re excited to have you here, KP Now you have a lot of experience in both sales, marketing, as well as customer experience. How does this experience across go to market teams really helped to influence your approach to sales enablement at RIB? KC: Well, the experience has a lot to do because when we talk with sales very often, it’s uh, you have multiple age group. What I’ve been seeing, and you have people which are much more familiar with new technology and some are less familiar with technology, some are less ready to go with new technology while the. Looking back at the experience that I was faced with a different job, it was really about not only the customer experience, but the user experience of our salespeople in order to bring sales enablement to the next level. If we cannot tackle our users, our people enablement, I’ll have a big problem to reach our objectives with sales enablement. That’s definitely one of the biggest experiences I gathered in the last years. SS: Absolutely. And RIB actually recently implemented Highspot as its enablement platform. What were the main challenges that led to this decision to invest in enablement and, um, how do you see a unified platform helping to overcome those challenges? KC: There was multiple challenge, right? The user challenge was definitely one, right? Fortunately, with HighSpot, I must really be honest. It helped us a lot because it’s really user friendly. It’s also part of our approach to roll out our new CRM, where HighSpot will be able to help us getting a better user experience within Salesforce. That said, there were also multiple objections to getting another tool. Why I say another tool? Because we are submerged with quantities of tool and different company coming to us, hey, my tool is better than the other tool. Which tool should I use? And there’s so many different tools and we come to an IT stack, which. Unsustainable. So it’s really about how we approach to rationalize what do we really need and what will be the output. So this was a challenge to bring IT organization and make sure that we have the money to fund a new approach, because this is definitely one of the challenge. What do you get? And everybody has their own answers – hey, you can make a lot of money with the tool. So it was one of the challenge we were able to, with the help of Highspot supporting us there for the use case, we were able to resolve those challenge and a much nicer way I would say, which facts very clearly that we could put in front of our. SS: I’d love to learn a little bit more about that, especially as a leader in the evaluation process. How did you go about building the business case for enablement and, and securing that stakeholder buy-in? KC: If I can be honest, Highspot helped us a lot. That’s what I mentioned a little bit prior, they took the time and, and I must say that working with Burak, who work with us from Highspot, really taking a deep dive on looking at our process and really taking the time to analyze and build a pilot and get the right data out. And then we are able to go forward. It’s not rocket science in a way, but the support made it a reality, and that’s mainly how we took the problem to fix it. SS: I love that. I’m curious, as you go about implementing this new platform for the first time, how do you plan to drive adoption and, and really build excitement amongst your sellers? KC: It’s all about the value they can get. It’s quite simple. It’s all about the value they can get. So far from what we’ve been doing during the pilot, the value that the sellers could get out of Highspot was quite high. It was pretty good user journey and they got a lot of value. They were able to tackle, uh, lease much faster. They were able to focus on the leads that are interested in what we sent, and see directly activities in the Digital Rooms and everything. So it’s really about what values the users get so they sell more, they get more incentive. Everybody’s happy. And that’s really to the basic, how can I sell more and faster? Everybody’s focused on efficiency, so it’s as simple as that. SS: I love that. And I know RIB has a diverse set of products and use cases. How can enablement help sellers effectively navigate that complexity at RIB? KC: Well, having the right documentation in the right place. And this was one of the reasons we selected to go with a sales enablement tool. This was one of our challenge, finding the right documentation, making sure it’s adapted in the right way. This was one of the main thing. We have a lot of a portfolio, not everybody is an expert of everything. Onboarding new sellers is definitely one of the challenge. So in this way, we’re able to navigate and help reduce complexity on this aspect. The other aspect is to focus where we need to focus. We need to focus on all these, or do we need to focus on the one that has a real interest. So that was mainly the two main aspects in it. SS: Amazing. And one of your current initiatives is transitioning to a new subscription-based business model. How do you plan to leverage your enablement tech stack to help drive this transition? KC: Well, like I said earlier, a seller is about efficiency and it’s about how much money can you make based on an incentive, right? So from a strategic perspective, we can say from a company, this is where we wanna focus, but it’s really to put the means at the right place. So the enablement will help our seller to be more effective to follow up on the right leads. The incentive, I must say, is a big portion on how will we get more into subscription, or how do we wanna focus of getting the maximum outta subscription. So whether we use annual contract value, a CV, or conditionable a CV to help our people focus on the. More focus. More focus on those needs. The proper needs. SS: I love that. So, shifting gears a little bit, ’cause you just mentioned the importance of, you know, that agility and speed as well as the results in your enablement approach. How do you bring this philosophy to life in your enablement efforts using data and insights? KC: Well, there’s always two sides, right? There’s the side that we have. Data needs to be perfect, needs to be exact, and we need to use the data. And there’s the the other side to say, let’s look at the big picture and not necessarily too much on the details of every single data point. If you’re in sales, it’s about speed. It’s about making the right decision and looking at the data will be perfect. So on speed and on right? From this big, it’s really about speed. SS: Absolutely. I could not agree more. And one of the ways that seems to be creating a lot of expediency these days is AI. So I’d love to understand KP, I know you plan on leveraging AI to enhance seller performance. Can you share more about how you envision using AI to elevate your enablement effort? KC: Well, I can share more a little bit on my expectations. We have not used AI yet since we’re, we need to roll it out on our new CRM platform. We just had the pilot project. Again, it’s about speed. How can AI help us have the right insight, make the right decisions? Increase speed to grab the right customer or grab the right leads and make the most out of it. For me, that’s really where AI is. It’s not gonna replace anybody. I don’t believe it’s gonna replace sellers. I believe it’ll be kind of a co-pilot, don’t want to use this word, but it’s. Being beside our sellers and supporting his approach to really, maybe he’s missing a few points, he’s missing some comments, coming outta discussion. He’s missing some different views to help him make him the right decision. That’s how I see that AI will help a lot. SS: Absolutely. Absolutely. Well, I’m excited for you to get started on that front. What do you think is the potential long-term value of embracing innovations in technology like AI to both help the seller and improve the customer experience? KC: It’s about trying right? Try and error to a certain point. Better try and find out as fast as possible. Competition will do, try and if it works well, well much faster than in. So for me, trial error and always keeping up to date and keeping the speed and trying to make it faster because nobody sleeping and definitely not the competition. SS: Absolutely KP. Last question for you. What is one piece of advice you would give to other companies that are considering investing in enablement for the first time? KC: Do your homework. Look, but also be very clear on what you’re trying to achieve and where do you want to go. Keep the end in mind of where you wanna go. Speed is a key essence of any implementation and rollout to make this a reality supported by the user experience, your user experience, your sellers to embrace and make the most out of it, because there’s a lot of technology there that even looks great on paper if the users are not using it. It’s not gonna make the best. A fool with the tool is still a fool. So make sure that you get the right tool to make sure that the people will use it properly and will get the most out of it. SS: Thank you KP. Appreciate the advice and thank you for joining the podcast. I’ve greatly appreciated your insight. KC: It was my pleasure. Thank you very much. SS: To our audience, thank you for listening to this episode of the Win-Win podcast. Be sure to tune in next time for more insights on how you can maximize enablement success with Highspot.

Some of the company's core innovations include:    Expansion of electrification and smart products for every room in the home.  Addition of electrification enablers, such as smart electrical panels and dynamic Level 2 EV chargers, that help eliminate roadblocks many homeowners have in wanting to electrify their entire home.  Simplifying rebate and savings programs, such as Congress' Inflation Reduction Act, to help customers cut costs by taking advantage of available local and national funding and discounts.  Building relationships with industry leaders in product, service and consumer education to supplement and amplify their mission to electrify American homes.    This electric push comes as a new generation of homeowners seek to invest in smarter, greener home solutions and previous generations are coming up against new government standards making accessibility to like-for-like replacement equipment for their home obsolete.    With Kenmore's electrification program delivering a quick onramp to affordable green energy homes, homeowners of all backgrounds and budgets have a more attainable path to smart, green home adoption.        Seg. 2   Clips from: How do Startup Founders Raise Venture Capital? w/ Chris Smurthwaite of VC Insider - BRT S04 EP05 (167) 1-29-2023                    FULL Show: HERE   What We Learned This Week EX VC or ‘Recovering' VC who now works with Startup Founders to help them raise $ money & build their business. Factory Automation + Robots w/ Brett Dooley of Bosch Rexroth  BRT S04 EP24 (187) 6-18-2023   What We Learned This Week Rexroth does factory automation, assembly lines, and robotic manufacturing – they setup the whole process + software Factories in recent years have gone more and more to automation and robotics. The idea being zero people on the factory floor or ‘lights out'. There are also transport robots, AI or autonomous robot transports. They deliver goods and parts around the factory floor.    ·     Brad Dooley has a background as an engineer (post           career in the Navy) he is the only Rexroth employee in                  Arizona. His job is to create business relationships with                 EV, battery and chip industries.    ·    Factory Automation - The planning cycle could be several years. These big factories could be making millions of parts for example - spark plugs in the auto industry.    ·     Modern factories are a collaborative workspace, people     in machines in the same space in a safe manner.       Guest: Brett Dooley - Senior Technical Sales Engineer, Bosch Rexroth  https://www.linkedin.com/in/dooleybrett/  Brett Dooley is a mechanical engineer at Bosch-Rexroth. He collaborates with business owners as well as engineers to develop targeted solutions for motion control and automation challenges. Brett uses his wide experience in business development, industrial repair, and a decade as an electronics tech in the US Navy submarine force to ensure delivery of an effective and robust automation system.    Bosch Rexroth  https://www.boschrexroth.com/en/us YOUR PARTNER FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF MOBILE MACHINES Whether driving or working, hydraulic, hybrid or fully electric, Bosch Rexroth offers highly efficient, low noise and powerful electric motors, generators, inverters and hydraulics combined with modular software modules.   2017 -  Today: Bosch Rexroth drives the digital transformation of the Factory of the Future, exceeds the limits with Connected Hydraulics and sets the stage for Transforming Mobile Machines. All products and solutions contribute to a more sustainable development of machines, manufacturing and daily life.   2001 – 2016: Move to one brand for software driven and interconnectible Drive & Control solutions The merger of Mannesmann Rexroth with Bosch Automationstechnik establishes a global leader for Drive & Control solutions. They reach new levels of seamless integration of all relevant technologies for improved energy efficiency and safety.   The origin of Bosch Rexroth's long history is influenced by constant movement. It all started with a water-powered hammer mill, followed by an iron foundry in Lohr am Main. Bosch Rexroth's unique industry expertise has become synonymous with tailored solutions. 1795 – 1964: Move from iron foundry to hydraulic solutions From forging iron out of ore to a foundry for cast iron, Rexroth entered the hydraulics market in the 1950s and laid the foundation to become a global market leader.     Notes:   Bosch and Rexroth each have company histories from late 1700s, 200+ years old dates back to the steel and iron industries. Both or German companies, businesses worldwide with factories in US and Europe.   Bosch has a background in auto manufacturing of parts. Rex Roth deals in machinery automation factories.   Brad Dooley has a background as an engineer he is the only Rexroth employee in Arizona. His job is to create business relationships with EV, battery and chip industries. Since he has a background in engineering he understands the tech and manufacturing.   Seg 2 Factories in recent years have gone more and more to automation and robotics. The idea being zero people on the factory floor or ‘lights out'. Regardless of whether people are working in the factory there's always people monitoring and maintaining the factory. Cameras are used also to monitor. Factory size could be similar to a QT gas station or as massive as an airport terminal.  Rexroth automation is involved in Bosch auto parts, fast moving consumer goods, and even medical equipment. Factories on an automation line could have hundreds of robot arms putting together equipment. There are also transport robots, AI or autonomous robot transports. They deliver goods and parts around the factory floor. Multi million dollar cost to build this automation set up in a factory, could be 100,000,000+ for bigger factories.  The planning cycle could be several years. These big factories could be making millions of parts for example - spark plugs in the auto industry. The smaller size factory, like the QT building is a subset of factory design. Doing less volume for higher priced goods like medical devices. They could be producing hundreds to thousands. Examples could be an x-ray machine, table top analysis type health machine for blood analysis or bigger machines like an MRI machine.   Seg 3  Brett's background is an engineer, who also served 11 years in the Navy. He was working on submarines and monitoring nuclear reactors. He had to wear a disseminator jacket which monitors for radiation with a meter. In 2008, he got out of the Navy, went to school at ASU for mechanical engineering.  After ASU, got a job with automation components distributor in Arizona. He has an electronics background and then in 2021,  he got the job with Bosch Rex Roth as Arizona's sole employee. Bosch Rexroth already has a market share in Detroit Michigan in the auto industry. Their automation of manufacturing is considered industry standard with a long track record. Brett is working in Arizona to build awareness for box Bosch Rexroth. Create contacts in the battery in the EV manufacturing area. Get them as potential clients. Bosch spends 6% of their budget on R&D. Not a lot of money is spent on marketing. A lot of the business is word of mouth marketing.  Bosch specialty is in solving manufacturing problems and helping build factory automation from end to end. They know the factory set up and have a proven system. Combo of experience and resources which they can prove out the ROI of automation.    Seg 4  Cost component, efficiency and precision in manufacturing. Many of these jobs are very repetitive and boring and people do not even want to do them. People are good at making decisions and designing processes.  Computers are good at repetitive tasks, do not get tired so it's good to automate these systems. Rexroth has software told tools to do the layout and floor plan of a factory. Determine the best use of the actual building. And example of this would be planning traffic within the system or conveyor lines and systems. They can run simulations of how the factory work up to one year and down to one hour.  Companies investing in this process have business case risk. Can the business sell enough products to make the factory plan work?  Automation needs to be very accurate so that the conveyors can either move fast or slow depending on needs. There are lots of safety precautions to keep people out of the way and make the assembly line fast.   Modern factories are a collaborative workspace, people in machines in the same space in a safe manner. There are laser sensors and cameras to help with safety. Rexroth is not in the vision business that is outsourced. There are other companies that make specialty LiDAR cameras.  There will always be people involved in automation systems at some level. Could be in the design part, overseeing the factory or programming. Overall automation is actually a net win for people. You invest a lot upfront, but have lower costs and more safety over the long term.  Example of dangerous work is forklift traffic. One mistake could actually be fatal. AMR or or autonomous mobile robots are intelligent machines that read traffic in a factory can map out a route. They can also reroute if necessary depending on what's going on.Hard to capture the safety cost and ROI of having automation.     Seg 1  Flashback AZ Tech Clip w/ Eric Miller of PADT  3D Printing & the AZ Tech Industry - BRT S02 EP25 (72) 6-20-2021  Eric discusses the 3D printing process  Things We Learned This Week 3D Printing tech affects many industries – healthcare, robotics, Aerospace, design Aerospace – 3D printing for rockets for moon & mars exploration                                                    AZ Tech was an Aerospace & Semiconductor hub for years, now growing into to many more tech industries, History dates back to WWII Moore's Law – cost of 3D machines are down, cheaper to use 3D, & growing PADT has many Patents, plus also does Angel Investing to grow AZ Tech community   Full Show: HERE   Tech Topic: https://brt-show.libsyn.com/category/Tech   More - BRT Best of Tech: Best of AZ Tech Council BRT of Tech 2022 BRT S02 EP52 (99) 12-26-2021 – Tech for the Holidays – BRT    Thanks for Listening Please Subscribe to the Podcast   Business Roundtable with Matt Battaglia The show where Entrepreneurs, High Level Executives, Business Owners, and Investors come to share insight and ideas about the future of business. BRT 2.0 looks at the new trends in business, and how classic industries are evolving.  Common Topics Discussed: Business, Entrepreneurship, Investing, Stocks, Cannabis, Tech, Blockchain / Crypto, Real Estate, Legal, Sales, Charity, and more…  BRT Podcast Home Page: https://brt-show.libsyn.com/ ‘Best Of' BRT Podcast: Click Here BRT Podcast on Google: Click Here BRT Podcast on Spotify: Click Here                    More Info: https://www.economicknight.com/podcast-brt-home/ KFNX Info: https://1100kfnx.com/weekend-featured-shows/   Disclaimer: The views and opinions expressed in this program are those of the Hosts, Guests and Speakers, and do not necessarily reflect the views or positions of any entities they represent (or affiliates, members, managers, employees or partners), or any Station, Podcast Platform, Website or Social Media that this show may air on. Stefan Sacre, President CEO of Carl ZEISS Japan, originally came to Japan to pursue research in Tokyo University during the 80s. Dr. Sacre was fascinated by Japan, an emerging Asian power at the time, particularly in the semiconductor industry. He even remembers one of his professors in Germany saying “better watch out” as he predicted Japan to become the next superpower.   By the time he was around 30, Dr. Sacre had lost interest in research and became an advisor to the European Commission in metals of industrial corporation towards Japan. His experiencing working in the “bureaucratic” circle gave him key insights into the funding structure of projects, which gave him an edge once he started working at a German optoelectronics company, SICK. There, Dr. Sacre was hired to turn around the loss-making business as someone new to a leadership role. Dr. Sacre implemented new work habits and restructured the business strategy to focus on selling key products. To have these products accepted by Japanese clients through meticulous testing and communicating this back to headquarters was a major challenge he faced. Yet Dr. Sacre fortunately found like-minded colleagues and stayed persistent.   After three years, Dr. Sacre moved back to the company headquarters in Germany. By that time Dr. Sacre was married to a Japanese partner and decided to raise their children in Japan, he returned and became CEO of Bosch Rexroth in Japan. There, he managed a company of 1000 employees from originally leading 10-15 in his previous position. Dr. Sacre again had the challenge of communicating between headquarters and Japanese offices, and persuading those who were resistant to change. In addition, the organization was struggling from the impact of the 2008 Financial Crisis.   He then moved to Eagleburgman in Germany after 6 years in Bosch, and returned to Japan to resume the role of CEO at ZEISS Japan. At ZEISS, Dr. Sacre manages a team of approximately 350 people and is proud of the company's reputation for integrity, long-term thinking and super advanced technology. Yet he has been confronted with difficulties that come from long-term success where people are reluctant to change from good to great. Dr. Sacre has taken on this challenge through constant communication and building trust, particularly by being transparent and consistent in his thought process and behaviour. To newcomers arriving in Japan, Dr. Sacre advises people to be open to learning without making any quick judgements based on your previous experiences, and accepting Japan as a well-functioning society.

How Bosch Took a Dumb SKIL Drill Press and Made it 'Smart'

At the end of the day, everyone just wants to make more money. That was the message at the Factory of the Future experience at the Bosch Rexroth Automation & Electrification facility in Hoffman Estates, IL. According to Peter Fischbach, industry segment manager at Bosch Rexroth, 70 percent of machines on the factory floor are not connected at all. The situation provides a huge opportunity to make machines more transparent (and profitable) using data, but one of the common misconceptions is that if you want the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) or Industry 4.0, you have to buy new equipment. To demonstrate how manufacturers can connect legacy machines, the company took a SKIL drill press and added some sensors as well as the company’s IoT Gateway. The upgrade enabled them to start pulling data from an otherwise dumb or “brownfield” machine and use it in real time.“Brownfield” equipment is a term used for legacy equipment that is otherwise unconnected and “greenfield” refers to a new facility that is starting from scratch. The team added an acceleration sensor to monitor motor and spindle speed as well as the ability to monitor pressing force and drill temperature with an edge-connected device. All-in, they added about $2,000 worth of technology to the press. The data is routed through Bosch’s IoT Gateway which has the ability to pull data from multiple disparate devices and then deploy it to a database where it can be used for anything, including predictive maintenance, data analytics, etc.For the demo, the data was pulled into IoT Insights, analysis software that comes pre-installed on the IoT Gateway. It provides a dashboard for the user to view all live-streaming data in one place for up to 20 machines. The user can set the dashboard to monitor spikes in quality problems. The SKIL example shows a plug-and-play option for OEMs that want to get rolling with an IIoT solution. According to Fischbach, any company can start small and build up to the "factory of the future" using existing brownfield machines.According to Matteo Dariol, once companies have the data, a common problem is end user follow up. Dariol says that to understand what's going on, companies need to have the right people looking at the right data.IoT is confusing and a lot of people don't know where to start. Bosch thinks that they can not only help scale towards IoT functionality, but they have the legacy application expertise as well.Fischbach says that a lot of factories have no insight at all, and for a few thousand dollars of technology, they can change that. After all, at the end of the day, everyone just wants to make more money.Oh, and the company made a rap marketing video, so there’s that too. #LikeABosch
