What if the hardest part of money isn't earning it, but knowing how to use it well?Morgan Housel, bestselling author of The Psychology of Money, returns to Finding Mastery to explore the core idea behind his newest bestselling book, The Art of Spending Money. In this next chapter of his work, Morgan shifts the conversation away from accumulation and toward a deeper question: after the basics are covered, what role should money actually play in your life? While most financial advice focuses on how to earn and invest, Morgan argues that the more consequential skill is learning how to spend in alignment with your values. The challenge isn't simply getting rich. It's defining “enough.”In this conversation, Dr. Michael Gervais and Morgan unpack why money decisions are rarely logical and almost always emotional… shaped by identity, comparison, uncertainty, and the quiet pull of status. They explore the psychological difference between getting rich and staying rich, why uncertainty is a permanent feature of life, and how financial independence — not prestige — may be the real prize. At the center of it all is a powerful reframe:Money is a tool, not a scorecard. In this episode, we explore:Why money anxiety persists even when you're “doing fine” on paperHow comparison and status influence spending decisionsWhat it means to use money in service of “a good life”Why defining “enough” matters more than earning “more”How to spend with more intention and fewer regretsIf you're serious about building a life that feels aligned — not just impressive — this conversation offers a grounded, psychologically rigorous lens on how to think about money differently.__________________________________Links & ResourcesSubscribe to our Youtube Channel for more conversations at the intersection of high performance, leadership, and wellbeing: https://www.youtube.com/c/FindingMasteryGet exclusive discounts and support our amazing sponsors! Send a textWhat if bravery isn't something you're born with—but a skill you can train? In this powerful and deeply thoughtful conversation, Joey Pinz sits down with Jill Schulman, a former U.S. Marine Corps officer, positive psychology expert, and author of The Bravery Effect. Together, they explore what bravery really is, why fear never goes away, and how choosing action—especially when it's uncomfortable—can radically improve performance, fulfillment, and well-being.Jill breaks down the science behind bravery, explaining how taking action rewires the brain, builds confidence, and strengthens self-belief over time. She shares powerful stories from her military background, her Ivy League education in positive psychology, and her recent TEDx experience—revealing why courage often comes before confidence, not after. The conversation also dives into leadership, personal growth, and why avoiding discomfort may actually fuel anxiety and dissatisfaction. From decision-making and self-agency to discipline, consistency, and building a “brave tribe,” this episode offers practical, evidence-based insights you can apply immediately. If you've ever felt stuck, hesitant, or unsure about taking the next step—this episode will challenge you to rethink fear and redefine what's possible.
Send a textWhat if the very thing you were told would “ruin” your health was actually the moment everything clicked? In this powerful conversation, Joey Pinz sits down with Allyson Hurley, a certified personal trainer, nutrition coach, and longtime probation officer, to unpack how mindset—not restriction—is the true driver of lasting health change. Allyson shares the now-famous “cheesecake moment” that forced her to confront years of rigid food rules, marathon overtraining, and chasing outcomes instead of behaviors.Together, they explore why weight loss is often the wrong target, how diet culture quietly shapes identity and self-talk, and why motivation isn't something you either have or don't—it's something you design through systems and environment. Allyson also draws compelling parallels between probation work and health coaching, revealing how motivational interviewing and behavior change science apply to both personal freedom and physical wellbeing. This episode challenges black-and-white thinking around food, fitness, and self-worth—and replaces it with a sustainable, compassionate approach to building healthier habits for life.If you've ever felt stuck in the cycle of restriction, frustration, and “starting over,” this conversation will change how you think about progress.

In today's episode of Next Level University, hosts Kevin Palmieri and Alan Lazaros challenge one of the most common assumptions in personal growth that confidence must come before success. Many people wait to feel ready, certain, or worthy before they take meaningful action, and that delay quietly keeps them stuck. This episode goes straight into the psychology of self-belief, momentum, and why progress often starts before your mindset catches up.If you've been hesitating, overthinking, or questioning your capability, this may change how you see readiness and what it really takes to level up your life. Wow, what form Zach Galla is in! Recent sends of Hypnotised Minds, Devilution, Return of the Sleepwalker and Shaolin, could be the most impressive run of ascents ever recorded. We really wanted to try and discern what could have led to such form, is it a mentality thing or improvements in strength? What is the optimum level of confidence for repeat sending? Knowing that rich veins of form are often ended with injury when do you take your foot off the gas? Can you stop to enjoy it? All these questions and more are at least partially answered or vaguely talked about in the podcast! This Mindset Debrief episode is a short-form reflection on personal accountability, discipline, and self-leadership for people navigating pressure, responsibility, and growth. In this episode, we focus on: trying to do everything on your own and carry to much by yourself. You can be capable and still be stuck. That's the trap this episode gets into.A lot of high-performing people don't avoid help because they're “strong.” They avoid it because asking feels like exposure. Like it'll cost them status. Like needing another set of hands means they weren't actually as competent as everyone thought. So you keep carrying it. You keep white-knuckling projects, decisions, stress, and responsibility, because doing it alone feels safer than being seen as not having it handled. But there's a quiet cost to over-relying on yourself. Your ceiling gets capped at what one person can carry. Deadlines slip. Quality dips. You get tired and you start calling it “standards” when it's really control. You tell yourself you're being accountable, but sometimes it's just hyper-independence in a nicer outfit. This episode reframes what strength actually looks like in business, leadership, and personal growth. It's not becoming helpless or outsourcing your life. It's learning how to use support strategically. It's knowing when collaboration increases the outcome. It's building trust and redundancy before you're in crisis. And it's being honest about the real reason you don't delegate, don't ask questions, and don't let people in.If you're someone who prides yourself on being the fixer, the reliable one, the person who always figures it out, this is for you. Not as a pep talk, but as a reality check. Because accountability isn't about doing everything yourself. It's about doing whatever it takes to get the right result, even when your ego doesn't like the method.Share this episode with someone who could benefit from the information.CONNECT WITH THE PODCAST:IG: https://www.instagram.com/paulpantani/WEBSITE: https://www.transitiondrillpodcast.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/paulpantani/SIGN-UP FOR THE NEWSLETTER:https://transitiondrillpodcast.com/home#aboutQUESTIONS OR COMMENTS:paul@transitiondrillpodcast.com

Finding the right funding for new ideas is challenging, especially when traditional philanthropy often favors established connections. However, open-call grant models are leveling the playing field, encouraging organizations to propose big, bold solutions that might otherwise stay under a funder's radar. What does it take to build a global design firm from scratch and then walk away from it at the top of your game? Mia Feasey did exactly that. She launched her international design business at just 24 years old, scaled it across borders, and made the bold decision to exit at 45, not because she had to, but because she chose to. In this episode, Christina's special guest Mia gets refreshingly real about what it actually took: the risks she took before she felt ready, the moments she almost played it safe, and why authenticity became her most powerful business strategy. If you've ever wondered what's waiting for you on the other side of a big leap, or if you're quietly dreaming of your own next chapter, this conversation will light a fire under you. About Mia Mia Feasey is the founder of Siren Design Group, a global design consultancy she built from a single Sydney studio into an international powerhouse with clients like Amazon, Google, Chanel, and Balenciaga. Guided by a people-first philosophy and a refusal to fear failure, she grew the firm over 20 years before making the bold decision to hand over the reins and walk away. Now based in Queenstown, New Zealand, Mia is channeling the same creativity and courage that built her business into redesigning her life — slowing down, reconnecting with her family, and figuring out what truly makes her heart sing. For 135 years Chiropractors have been lied to…They've been told that you are either in it for the patients - or in it for the money. Nothing could be further from the truth. Where you land on this issue can be the #1 determiner of your practice and business success - and the joy that you experience from both. Most chiropractors say they want to grow, but very few are truly fluent in the language of money. In this final installment of the five-part series on the two sides of the chiropractic coin, Dr. Stephen and Dr. Pete unpack the financial side of a Remarkable Business and why understanding revenue, margin, and profit is not optional for sustainable impact. They clarify the distinction between a healthy practice and a healthy business, introduce the five essential financial KPIs every CEO must master, and challenge the belief that working harder solves financial problems. When you understand how money works, you stop guessing, start leading, and build a business that funds your mission rather than drains it. In This Episode You Will: Understand the difference between collections and revenue in business terms Learn the five essential financial KPIs every chiropractic CEO must track See how gross profit margin determines whether your business is truly scalable Discover why associate doctor models often break financially Clarify how stewardship, pricing, and overhead directly impact your net profit Episode Highlights 01:53 - Discover the critical distinction between the practice side and the business side of the chiropractic coin and why mastering both is essential for long-term success. 02:30 - Understand that greater impact and greater income are naturally connected when your business is structured properly. 04:40 - Recognize that a remarkable practice does not automatically equal a remarkable business and why both must be intentionally built. 11:40 - Reflect on the limiting belief that making money is enough, when true stewardship requires understanding how money actually works. 12:21 - See how avoiding accounting creates blind spots that prevent optimization and leave profit on the table. 16:09 - Learn why tracking collections consistently is foundational to operational and financial control. 16:39 - Clarify how Collection Visit Average reveals whether you are truly profitable per adjustment. 17:53 - Discover why Monthly Recurring Revenue creates stability, predictability, and long-term sustainability. 22:11 - Understand that gross profit margin determines whether scaling your practice is wise or financially dangerous. 26:28 - Recognize that net profit margin and absolute net profit are the ultimate indicators of financial health and CEO-level leadership. 27:34 - Dr. Kevin Day is joined by Success Partner, Dr. Jeff Langmaid of The Smart Chiropractor to discuss using consistent email communication to improve patient retention, reactivations, and overall profitability. They discuss key metrics like net momentum and lifetime value, emphasizing that keeping and reactivating patients is far more cost-effective than constantly acquiring new ones, leading to stronger, more sustainable practice growth. Leora Lanz is an associate professor at Boston University's School of Hospitality Administration and a former global marketing leader who helped grow HVS from seven offices to forty worldwide. After decades in destination marketing, hotel operations, and consultancy, she turned her classroom casework into two books on developing a marketing mindset. Susan and Leora talk about critical thinking, conscious marketing, and career courage. What You'll Learn: • Why you need to "know enough to be dangerous" in digital marketing • What crisis communication in hotels teaches about compassion • Why today's marketing funnel feels more like a pinball machine • Why hospitality and marketing are fundamentally the same • How to shift from "you should" to "we will" with owners • When the ROI of a hospitality degree really kicks in • How set-jetting and streaming shows shape travel trends • Why wellness, sustainability, and community are marketing power plays • Why career reinvention requires courage and community *** Our Top Three Takeaways Marketing Is a Mindset, Not a Tactic Marketing isn't about flashy campaigns or one-hit wonders. It's about critical thinking, strategic planning, and starting with clear goals and KPIs. Everyone in hospitality (not just the marketing team) needs to think this way to build real, lasting impact. Shift from "You" to "We" Great marketing happens when teams act as true partners, not outside advisors. Saying "we" instead of "you" creates a sense of shared ownership and stronger alignment with stakeholders. That mindset builds trust, buy-in, and better results. Hospitality Is a Competitive Advantage Hospitality is more than an industry; it's a philosophy that can differentiate any business. Purpose-driven marketing rooted in wellness, sustainability, and community creates deeper, more meaningful connections. The future depends on honoring both emerging talent and seasoned voices while keeping that purpose front and center. “Send Coach John a message”I found this post from Greg Berge (@GregBerge) where he shared this clip from American Freestyle skier, Eileen Gu. Greg's intro was this: “This is a Mindset MUST-watch. Bookmark and share. We can become exactly who we want to become. We can control our thoughts.” It was such a breath of fresh air starting out with a sincere question from the reporter, whose name was Charlotte, and you can tell there is a bit more of humor coming from other reporters as to the down to earth way of asking it. The answer that Eileen gave - total brilliance! These were my thoughts as I shared this post: “Love this!! I've been thinking a lot lately of how my 8 year old little self would be proud of me today! (Also remembering he's still a part of me) I'm also thinking about how my future self would be grateful for the things I'm doing & thinking today!” You can tell by how fast she talks, that she has a lot going on in her head and / or she's simply full of passion for what she does in life. I think that's really cool that she explained a little bit of what is going on inside her head and what we can learn about it. Outstanding clip here and I'm glad I found it as I think the value from this is simply tremendous. Thanks for listening. Mindset is the real growth strategy. In this episode, I'm joined again by Andy C. Seeley, CEO + co-founder of Creatively Disruptive and we go beyond ads, tactics, and “what's working” to talk about what actually determines whether a business scales: the founder's headspace.Andy shares how his agency evolved from “run the ads, track the data” to a hands-on consulting model rooted in one truth they see again and again: if the mindset isn't ready, the business isn't ready. We get into the psychology of change, the tug-of-war between what you say you want and what you're actually aligned to receive, and why leadership energy becomes company culture whether you mean it to or not. This episode is equal parts practical and perspective-shifting… and yes, we even unpack Andy's “Delight” philosophy (a decision-making framework that changes how teams lead, serve, and grow). We cover:Why “success readiness” matters more than strategy (and how founders sabotage momentum)The difference between wanting growth vs. being aligned with what growth requiresWhy people fight change even when they asked for it“Delight” as a leadership philosophy (and how it impacts culture + retention)How gratitude, belief, and consistency reshape performance over timeWhy mission-first businesses tend to outperform money-first businessesThe ripple effect of leadership energy on clients, teams, and outcomesKey Takeaways:The biggest bottleneck in most businesses is the founder's mindset. You don't need more tactics, you need alignment between your inner beliefs and outer actions.Culture scales when you lead with emotional intelligence, not fear.“Delight” is a powerful lens for better decisions, stronger teams, and healthier growth. When your mission is bigger than money, money tends to follow.Connect with Andy:Website: https://creativelydisruptive.comAshworth Strategy: https://ashworthstrategy.comLinkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/andyseeley/Follow Us:

Randy is back! After a break to welcome a new grandchild, Randy returns with a powerful and vulnerable episode that goes deep into the core of The Gap Thinking Framework. Why do we so often self-sabotage when faced with a new opportunity? Why is our first instinct to say, "I can't" or "I shouldn't"? Randy explains that the answer lies in our "BS" (Beliefs and Stories)—the subconscious programming from our past that dictates our automatic reactions. He shares a deeply personal story about how a "lack mindset" instilled in childhood has held him back for decades, and how it almost stopped him from pursuing a major new business venture just yesterday. In this episode, you'll learn how to identify when you are trapped in a "narrow gap" of old thinking and how to consciously widen that space to choose a different path. Randy challenges the idea that you need to know the "how" before you act, arguing that faith and a belief in your own ability to choose are the real keys to success. This is a masterclass in moving from being a habitual thinker on autopilot to becoming an active thinker who designs their own life. Mentioned in this episode: The Gap Thinking Framework, beliefs and stories (BS), self-sabotage, lack mindset, triggers, narrow vs. wide gap, faith, decision-making, Henry Ford quote, personal development. Ready to identify the patterns that are holding you back? Take the free Gap Thinking Framework Assessment at richmind.co Key Takeaways: The Gap Thinking Framework is about controlling the critical split-second window between a trigger (stimulus) and your reaction. Most of our life is lived on autopilot, but we can't afford to let our big life decisions be made by habitual thinking. Your "BS" (Beliefs and Stories) are the subconscious programs, often formed in childhood, that dictate your automatic reactions to new opportunities. A "narrow gap" occurs when you instantly revert to old, safe beliefs of "I can't" or "I shouldn't," leading to self-sabotage. You don't need to know the "how" before you take action. The key is to step out in faith and belief, and the resources will appear. Randy shares a transparent example of being triggered by an old "lack mindset" while researching a new business venture and how he overcame it. The famous Henry Ford quote, "Whether you believe you can, or believe you can't, either way, you're correct," is the foundation of this episode. Questions Answered in This Episode: Why has there been a break in the podcast episodes? (Hint: A new grandbaby!) How do my childhood beliefs and stories affect my adult decisions? What is a "narrow gap" and how does it lead to self-sabotage? Why do I automatically think "I can't" when presented with a big opportunity? How can I stop letting my past define my future? What do I do when I'm triggered by fear and doubt? Why don't I need to know the full plan before I take the first step? How can I shift from being a "habitual thinker" to an "active thinker"? Key People, Concepts, & Terms: People: Randy Wilson, Henry Ford, David Neagle. Concepts: The GAP, Gap Thinking Framework, Beliefs and Stories (BS), Self-Sabotage, Triggers, Patterns, Narrow Gap vs. Wide Gap, Habitual vs. Active Thinking, Faith, Lack Mindset, Abundance. We cover a lot on this one, and we do hope you'll listen in. Where are we with the commie government in Richmond as of now? (Not as bad as you may have been led to believe)... And, are these new and esoteric knife steels really what we're being led to believe (likely not, we'll talk about this)...And, is there anything unique about the "Appalachian Mindset?" Will we really buckle under to tyrannical attempts to rule over us?
Message title: Mindset for MinistryBig Idea: Ministry is messy, so mindset matters.
Anna Lundberg had spent her whole life being the good girl. Top of the class as valedictorian, Oxford graduate, and the shiny P&G title to show for it. She'd ticked every box, perfected the image, and then she did something very off-brand: she quit. What she didn't expect was how long the good girl mindset would follow her. Even now, a decade into solopreneurship and 370 episodes into her podcast Reimagining Success, Anna still feels the pull of the old scripts. Say yes, never chase, be likeable, and fill up your diary to feel important. We talk about what success looks like once the gold stars disappear and you're left to figure it out on your own. Anna's advice? Bring your A game, set the boundary, go the extra mile – but whatever you do, don't go two.Links to learn more about Anna Lundberg:WebsiteLinkedInBookPodcastAny thoughts?
