This week on Hafta, Newslaundry's Abhinandan Sekhri, Manisha Pande, and Jayashree Arunachalam are joined by Priya Sahgal, editorial director at NewsX, Jasmine Damkewala, advocate on record in the Supreme Court, and senior journalist Hridayesh Joshi. The episode opens with a discussion on the opposition's protest against the special intensive revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar. Priya states that when the opposition sets aside its differences, it can make an impact. “The fact that everybody came together, even the AAP, even though they're not part of the India Block itself, also showed there is unity. When the opposition comes in full strength, they can make an impact and a difference,” she says. Referring to Rahul Gandhi's press conference on alleged voter fraud, Manisha notes how it is unusual for a political party to assume the role traditionally played by the media. “However journalistically sound it may be or not be, it's still striking that political parties today also have to do the media's job of starting a narrative through such investigations, because very few organisations have actually invested time in looking into this issue and the related complaints.”The conversation then shifts to the Supreme Court's order to remove stray dogs from Delhi's streets. Jasmine Damkewala notes that the dog population surged during the pandemic, when government-led sterilisation drives came to a halt. “Especially during COVID, no sterilisations were happening, or very little… The thing is, the state government is not really doing sterilisations. They do very little, and for that, too, they send the dogs to NGOs and pay them for it.” Manisha adds that the court's solution seems unworkable as there aren't enough shelters to house the dogs. “This is Delhi – we haven't even figured out shelters for humans during extreme heat waves or extreme cold waves,” she says.Abhinandan agrees and says, “For the Supreme Court to pass an order that is unimplementable is ridiculous. We have to acknowledge there's a problem, but this is certainly not the solution.”For the discussion on the Uttarakhand disaster, Hridayesh joins from ground zero. He recounts his journey to the site of the tragedy, despite being denied permission by the local authorities. He also discussed the current situation at Dharali, the village most affected by the flood. Check out the Newslaundry store and flaunt your love for independent media. On this episode of Clean and Sober Radio, host Gary Hendler and cohost Mark Sigmund paid tribute to the late Marc Willig, a beloved friend of the show and a pillar of the Philadelphia recovery community, who passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with medical issues. Marc's life in recovery was marked by his unwavering dedication to carrying a message of hope and resiliency to those struggling with addiction. The program also featured Steve C., who has remained clean and sober for over three decades despite enduring the unimaginable loss of two wives—one in a car accident and the other to COVID. His story of perseverance, commitment, and faith in the recovery process was both moving and inspiring.
It becomes clearer each day that COVID-19 was a bio-weapon unleashed for globalist purposes. Many assumed the only goal was depopulation from the dangerous “protocol” and the deadly “shot.” However, Dr. William Makis believes that the primary purpose was to sterilize the majority of the world via the shot so that fewer children would be born in the future. Makis also covers amazing and effective treatments for cancer. Curtis comments on several clips from Dr. Makis, along with a 2018 movie that shockingly predicted the globalist plandemic blueprint.
About this episode: Fall vaccines for flu, RSV, and—more recently—COVID have long followed a uniform rollout schedule allowing clinics and pharmacies ample time to order and administer shots. But that process looks different this year, raising concerns about access. Guest: Katelyn Jetelina, PhD, MPH, is an epidemiologist and scientific communicator. She is the co-founder of Health Trust Initiative, an adjunct professor at Yale School of Public Health, and a Senior Scientific Advisor to several government and non-profit agencies, including the CDC. Will the studio’s bold strategies play out as intended? Kim Masters and Matt Belloni break down Paramount’s next act. Plus, Masters talks to documentarian Petra Costa about Apocalypse in the Tropics, a follow-up to her Oscar-nominated 2019 film The Edge of Democracy. Nicotine, NDT Bans, and the Truth Big Pharma Doesn't Want You to Hear In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Bryan Ardis to challenge the mainstream narrative on nicotine and expose what's really behind the push to ban it worldwide. Backed by history, published research, and clinical data, Dr. Ardis explains how nicotine may support recovery from long COVID, reduce inflammation, improve autoimmune conditions, sharpen brain function, and even play a role in cancer prevention. We also cover the FDA's plan to ban natural desiccated thyroid medications and how it connects to larger efforts to restrict patient access to bioidentical hormones and other natural treatments. Dr. Ardis breaks down the financial and political forces at play, and I share my own cancer experience and how this information could shift your approach after a diagnosis. If you're ready to hear the research, the risks, and the real reasons behind these bans, this conversation will give you the clarity you need to protect your health and your options. 639. Part 2 of our interview with Lori Peek about her book, The Continuing Storm, which she wrote with Kai Erikson. More than fifteen years later, Hurricane Katrina maintains a strong grip on the American imagination. The reason is not simply that Katrina was an event of enormous scale. But, quite apart from its lethality and destructiveness, Katrina retains a place in living memory because it is one of the most telling disasters in our recent national experience, revealing important truths about our society and ourselves. The Continuing Storm reflects upon what we have learned about Katrina and about America.Kai Erikson and Lori Peek expand our view of the disaster by assessing its ongoing impact on individual lives and across the wide-ranging geographies where displaced New Orleanians landed after the storm. Such an expanded view, the authors argue, is critical for understanding the human costs of catastrophe across time and space. Concluding with a broader examination of disasters in the years since Katrina—including COVID-19— The Continuing Storm is a sobering meditation on the duration of a catastrophe that continues to exact steep costs in human suffering. "The Hurricane" by William Cullen Bryant (November 3, 1794 – June 12, 1878) was an American romantic poet, journalist, and long-time editor of the New York Evening Post. Born in Massachusetts, in 1825, Bryant relocated to New York City, where he became an editor of two major newspapers. He also emerged as one of the most significant poets in early literary America and has been grouped among the fireside poets for his accessible and popular poetry. "Lord of the winds! I feel thee nigh, I know thy breath in the burning sky! And I wait, with a thrill in every vein, For the coming of the hurricane! And lo! on the wing of the heavy gales, Through the boundless arch of heaven he sails; Silent and slow, and terribly strong, The mighty shadow is borne along, Like the dark eternity to come;" This week in Louisiana history. As we remember this past almost five years of “Truth to Ponder” what the world endured, some people have remarked, “it was only a test.” A test of what? Many, as does Bob Biermann, believe much of the response to COVID was to test what people would be willing to do no matter how ridiculous and no matter what the cost to themselves, their future, and their family. While people are waking up, history teaches us we can easily be deceived again. Are you ready? Now, do you believe in this ministry? If you do, you can keep us on the air as a radio program and podcast by visiting our website. It is vastly more urgent than ever that you do. https://truth2ponder.com/support. Family businesses face unique pressures — leadership misalignment, succession uncertainty, and legal blind spots that can undermine decades of hard work. In this episode of The Family Biz Show, host Michael Palumbos sits down with Mike Hayes, CEO of GLC Business Services, to unpack the strategies that have allowed GLC to thrive across generations. Mike's journey from West Point graduate and Army officer to family business CEO is a case study in resilience, vision, and people-first leadership. He shares how his father co-founded GLC in 1992, pivoting away from a declining printing industry into document outsourcing, and how that foundation of service and relationships carried the company through every transition. From navigating an amicable but high-stakes ownership split with the help of a well-drafted buy-sell agreement, to steering the company through COVID by putting people before profits, Mike reveals the decisions that protected both culture and cash flow. He also explains why legacy should be about giving the next generation options — not obligations — and how mentorship and internal promotion have fueled loyalty in a high-turnover industry. Key Timestamps: 00:08:40 — Leadership alignment & avoiding drift 00:10:33 — People-first strategy in crisis 00:17:31 — The buy-sell agreement that saved GLC 00:27:41 — Mentorship and culture as growth engines 00:35:26 — Legacy by invitation, not expectation 00:52:33 — Redefining leadership legacy Tangible Takeaways for Family Businesses: Plan early, review often: Stress test your buy-sell agreement before conflict arises. Protect culture in crisis: Retention comes from trust, not just contracts. Align leadership vision: A unified direction prevents costly stalls. Build legacy through choice: Give future generations the freedom to decide. Mentor for growth: Invest in people who can lead long after you step back.
Scott Miller, PA, is the author of The Most Dangerous Man in Washington—a gripping memoir of courage, conviction, and the moral cost of doing the right thing when the world punishes those who dare to care. A former pediatric physician assistant and founder of Miller Family Pediatrics in Washington State, Scott became nationally known during the COVID-19 pandemic for being the lone voice of dissent, defying “State Mandates”, fighting against hospital protocols, and aggressively administering early treatment protocols when few others in the country would. In 2021, Scott's license was suspended for refusing to conform to state-sanctioned protocols. The State of Washington called his actions misconduct. His patients called him a miracle. Today, Scott continues to speak out on behalf of those injured, medical whistleblowers, and people who believe that truth should still matter in medicine. Guest: Kevin Jiang, Toronto Star reporter Nearly one in five Canadians who had COVID—more than more than 3 million people—went on to develop long COVID, also called post COVID 19 Condition (PCC). Symptoms can include fatigue, brain fog, breathing problems and heart damage, sometimes lasting for years. In Ontario there is still no coordinated plan for care. Funding for specialized clinics has disappeared, rehab services often have to be paid for out of pocket and most patients report getting little to no treatment. Toronto Star's Kevin Jiang takes a look at what it is like to live with the long tail of a pandemic that is far from over for those still living with it. US Health Secretary RFK Jr's call to retract a study on childhood vaccines is resisted by the journal. Also antibiotics get designed by AI, and a new way for stars to die. A study focussing on Danish childhood vaccination data has attracted the US Secretary for Health's anger, as RFK jr calls for the journal in which it was published, the Annals of Internal Medicine, to retract it. The Editor, Christine Laine, talk to Science in Action about the strengths and challenges of observational studies. The cuts to prestigious US federal science funded research continue, as last week it was announced that $500 million funding for future mRNA vaccines would be withdrawn. Barney Graham, one of the pioneers in the field and prominent during the Covid vaccines, argues that the research will still happen, though maybe not in the US, as mRNA has become a fundamental area of global research. Meanwhile, strides are being made in the field of synthetic biology as Jim Collins and colleagues at MIT and Harvard have used AI to design potentially viable antibiotics for two important drug-resistant superbugs. Previously, AI has been used to comb through libraries of known antibiotics. This study has gone a step further, and used generative AI to design new ones, that can then be synthesised using real chemicals. Though a long way from being prescribable drugs, the team think this could herald a new golden age of antibiotic development – something which has been lacking in recent decades. Finally, it seems astronomers may have discovered a new way for a star to die, sort of. Supernova 2023zkd was seen to explode back in 2023, found by a team looking for odd events. It didn't seem quite like normal supernovae, in that it took a bit longer to die down. Then the team looked back, and noticed that it had also been getting slowly brighter for almost a year. At 730 million light years away, in a galaxy far, far away, it also seemed to have been stripped of all its hydrogen and even stranger yet, appeared to have exploded twice. As Ashley Villar of the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics explains, the almost unique observation fits with a model of the huge star getting closer to a black hole, the gravity of which may have disrupted the star enough to cause it to explode. A new study from Portland State University completes a three-year project looking at the impacts of several drug policy shifts - including Measure 110 - which decriminalized drug possession in Oregon. Among other things, this final study concluded that decriminalization had little to do with rising crime and overdose deaths. Instead, the study found that the COVID-19 pandemic and the widespread emergence of fentanyl were the primary drivers behind a surge in drug-related deaths. Brian Renauer, a professor in the Criminology & Criminal Justice Department at PSU, joins us to explain.
Today, we're exploring the science behind scent—and why it's so deeply connected to our brains. Joining Mosheh for this conversation is Mike Kinsey, a master perfumer and olfactive scientist at Procter & Gamble, who helps create some of the most recognizable scents in household products. In this special episode, sponsored by Gain and Downy, Mike breaks down why smell is so strongly linked to memory and emotion. He also explains how scent preferences shift across regions and cultural moments (like the rise of “clean” scents after COVID), and how major brands work to predict trends, avoid fleeting fads, and develop iconic fragrances for everything from shampoo to laundry detergent. Stick around until the end, when Mosh puts his nose to the test in a blind scent challenge – with scent-sational results! #GainPartner #DownyPartner
In the aftermath of the worst mass shooting in NYC in 25 years, we speak with NYC mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo as new details emerge about the attack and the suspect. The former NY governor discusses the state of gun violence, what he thinks needs to be done about assault weapons at the federal level, and how ‘Mayor Cuomo' would handle public safety and the NYPD differently. We dig into the NYC mayoral race, his loss to Zohran Mamdani in the primary, what he learned, and why he's staying in the race as an independent. He weighs in on Mamdani's proposals, why he thinks Mayor Eric Adams should drop out, the rise of “democratic socialism,” President Trump, the migrant crisis, antisemitism and what's at stake for New York City in November. We also revisit his record as governor, including the landmark NY SAFE Act counteracting gun violence, and his economic and infrastructure initiatives as he tells us why he thinks it's inaccurate to say ‘blue states' can't get things done. He also addresses Mo News community questions about his controversies, including about his COVID policies, and the sexual misconduct allegations that led to his resignation from governor.
