In this episode of The Alpha Male Coach Podcast, Kevin sits down with Curtis McKee, a recent graduate from Class 003 of the Tribe, for a grounded, powerful conversation about what real change actually looks like. Curtis is a traveling boilermaker from Canada, spending long stretches of time working remote camp jobs across northern British Columbia and Alberta, and he brings a rare combination of blue-collar practicality and deep inner development to the table.Curtis shares how his journey began with a single concept that hit him so hard he had to pull his truck over on the highway just to absorb it: buffering. Not the surface-level distractions themselves, but the deeper reason men reach for them. Like many men, Curtis thought he could numb stress and frustration with a drink or a dopamine hit, but he kept finding the same truth - it never works. And what shocked him most wasn't just that buffering was happening, but that no one had ever taught him how the mind actually functions. This episode dives into the difference between trying to control the external world and learning to control what you actually have power over: your internal experience. Curtis explains how mind management gave him something he hadn't felt in years - stability, clarity, and choice. Not because life became easier, but because he became more conscious. He describes a shift from drifting through life to taking ownership of his thoughts, emotions, and decisions, using the Model of Alignment to label what's happening inside and create intentional change.Kevin and Curtis also unpack something most men don't realize until later in life: this work must be taught, and it must be practiced. You don't just listen to a podcast and get fixed. You don't read one book and suddenly become unstoppable. Real transformation requires repetition, feedback, coaching, and community. Curtis shares how even one hour per week of meaningful conversation with like-minded brothers created a foundation of growth, especially when his everyday world was filled with surface-level talk and isolation. The conversation expands into Curtis' experience in the Tribe - why he chose to commit, how he balanced long workdays with intense study, and how he discovered something deeper about himself: he's called to guide others. The episode ends with the story of the Class 003 gathering in Mexico, including ceremony, reflection, challenge, and initiation - culminating in an ice bath that nearly broke him, and a plant medicine experience that revealed something simple, undeniable, and unforgettable:Everything he was seeking was already within him.If you're tired of drifting, tired of reacting, and ready to take ownership of your inner world, this episode will land.

February honesty hits different. The motivation buzz fades, real life crowds in, and the question sharpens: are we building lives that actually fit? We ditch quick fixes for sturdy rules—starting with our favorite: never miss twice. Miss a day, reset the next. It's the cure for all-or-nothing thinking and the backbone of habits that last.We dig into the quiet power of privacy (not secrecy), better boundaries, and fewer explanations—and how that creates space for a true “year of impact.” From kinder no's and protected relationships to midlife glow-ups that go deeper than skincare (though yes, chemical peels and “don't cut bangs” still make an appearance), this episode is about moving from performance to alignment.Books, therapy, and responsibility thread it all together. Fiction as soul care. Clarity over buzzwords. Owning harm, apologizing when possible, and living honestly when life won't wrap things up neatly. If you're craving sustainable habits, better boundaries, and a midlife reframe that actually works, this one's for you.

Vinny Brusco is an insight and perspective coach, community builder, and podcast host who helps men cultivate clarity, connection, and purpose. After 16 years in the car business, he walked away from a lucrative but misaligned career to build a life and business rooted in what matters most to him: authentic brotherhood, mental and spiritual health, and intentional living. As the founder of Agora Social Club and host of The Council of Dudes podcast (with over 500 episodes), Vinny creates spaces where men can drop the performative self-help act and actually live in alignment instead of autopilot. On this episode we talk about: Leaving a high-income, misaligned career for a more meaningful path How sales skills become a “break glass in case of emergency” safety net Why fulfillment in the pursuit matters more than status or titles The loneliness epidemic among men and entrepreneurs Building real, local community through Agora Social Club and long-form conversation Top 3 Takeaways You can be making great money and still be completely out of alignment—and no number in your bank account will fix that internal mismatch. Learning to sell is one of the most valuable “forever skills” you can develop, giving you the confidence to take bigger risks in pursuit of a life you actually want. Deep, in-person community and long-form conversation are antidotes to modern male loneliness, especially for entrepreneurial men who often feel isolated at the top. Notable Quotes “This isn't a weekend hobby; it's a heart-and-soul project that needs a life force behind it.” “If you'd still do it even if you never became ‘the best' at it, you're probably on the right path.” “The transaction is just an energetic byproduct of a real, authentic conversation.” Connect with Vinny Brusco: Instagram (personal): @vinnybrusco Agora Social Club website: agorasocialclub.com Instagram (club): @agora_westchester Podcast: The Council of Dudes Travis Makes Money is made possible by High Level – the All-In-One Sales & Marketing Platform built for agencies, by an agency. Have you ever felt completely worn out, uninspired, or exhausted… but you couldn't quite explain why?In this episode, I want to talk about something I believe is at the root of so much burnout: misalignment. It's not always that you're doing too much — sometimes it's that you're doing too much of what doesn't actually align with who you are.Alignment isn't just a trendy word. Alignment is when your values match your calendar, your beliefs match your decisions, and your faith matches your actions. When those things line up, there may still be hard work, but there's also joy, peace, and internal fulfillment. When they don't, exhaustion shows up fast.I share how I've personally had to recalibrate throughout my career — stepping off boards, saying no to good things that didn't feed my soul, and learning that all change initially feels like loss. But staying misaligned costs far more: your energy, your peace, your momentum, and eventually your health. One of the biggest indicators of alignment isn't excitement — it's peace. You can be walking through something challenging and still know you're in the right lane. Misalignment, on the other hand, shows up as irritation, restlessness, and feeling off without knowing why.In this episode, I challenge you to do an alignment check:Is your calendar aligned with what truly matters to you?Are you spending time with people who reflect your values? Are you honoring who you are becoming — not just who you used to be?Alignment doesn't require burning your life down. It's built through small, intentional steps. Saying no. Making adjustments. Choosing discipline. Getting quiet enough to ask where your soul feels the most alive. There's never been a more important time to tune out the noise and live authentically. When you live aligned, the right people find you, your peace returns, and your purpose becomes clearer.Because the truth is this:There is nothing more fulfilling than living in alignment with who you were created to be.Connect With Us:Website: https://www.youaremore.comFree Download: 5 Steps to Win Through AdversitySocial Media: Follow us on Facebook and InstagramEmail: amy@amywienands.comEpisode Minute By Minute:00:00 – Why exhaustion isn't always about doing too much01:00 – What alignment actually means02:10 – How misalignment shows up as burnout03:20 – Looking at your calendar honestly04:25 – Why good things can still drain you05:30 – All change initially feels like loss06:40 – Authenticity and living aligned07:50 – The car alignment analogy09:00 – The biggest indicator of alignment: peace10:20 – You don't need to blow your life up11:40 – Small steps into alignment13:00 – Finding where your soul feels most alive14:45 – Alignment looks different for everyone16:10 – Why recalibration is necessary over time17:40 – Walking in endurance without losing yourself18:45 – Final encouragement: living aligned on purposeBe intentional, stay focused, and remember you are more!

@1QLeadership Question: What matters most in how we develop student-athletes? College football analyst Yogi Roth challenges administrators to see athletes not as transactions or brands, but as **human** stories whose mental skills and identity must be developed as intentionally as their physical talent. He argues that in today's NIL and transfer-portal era, alignment on "what matters most" from the president to the graduate assistant is the only sustainable way to support coaches, protect athletes' mental health, and keep sport rooted in purpose rather than purely in revenue.  - Mental performance is framed as a competitive advantage: Roth emphasizes visualization, self-talk, body language, and "competing in the absence of fear," urging programs to front-load mental skills support with licensed professionals just as aggressively as they invest in strength and conditioning.  - Athlete identity and NIL: The discussion warns that a hyper-transactional environment and NIL money amplify "athlete identity syndrome," and calls on coaches and departments to help athletes know their story, voice, and purpose beyond their sport and logo so the college experience sets up the next 40–60 years, not just the next season.  - Alignment and culture as AD work: Roth stresses that presidents, ADs, coaches, and staff must be able to answer the same "what matters most here?" question, and that administrators should structure resources, policies, and daily operations to mirror those priorities to create a sustainable alignment. - One Question Leadership Podcast - Tai M. Why your best life isn't about having the right answers, but about asking the right questions.Finding meaning and purpose in life isn't about having all the answers. For Bill Burnett and Dave Evans, it's about having the courage and curiosity to constantly engage with the questions. As designers, Burnett and Evans have careers spanning everything from academia to companies like Apple, Electronic Arts, and Hasbro. But beyond fashioning better products and user experiences, they've also put their expertise toward the transcendent, writing several books about designing and living lives filled with meaning and purpose.“Compasses say North, not Seattle,” says Evans, highlighting how many mistakenly think of purpose as a single destination. “We're all a dynamic, flowing, constantly changing thing. So how could a changing thing have one static right answer?” Instead, he and Burnett maintain that meaning is more about “going the right direction, not [finding] the right destination.”In this episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Burnett and Evans join host Matt Abrahams to explore their strategies for leading a purposeful life. Rather than “rehearsing [an] answer,” their method involves “living [a] question” — embracing curiosity and designing a life through dialogue with ourselves and with others. To listen to the extended Deep Thinks version of this episode, please visit FasterSmarter.io/premium.Episode Reference Links:Bill BurnettDave EvansBill and Dave's Book: How to Live a Meaningful LifeEp.181 Why Happiness is a Direction, Not a Destination: Communication, Happiness & WellbeingEp.138 Speak Your Truth: Why Authenticity Leads to Better Communication  Connect:Premium Signup >>>> Think Fast Talk Smart PremiumEmail Questions & Feedback >>> hello@fastersmarter.ioEpisode Transcripts >>> Think Fast Talk Smart WebsiteNewsletter Signup + English Language Learning >>> FasterSmarter.ioThink Fast Talk Smart >>> LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTubeMatt Abrahams >>> LinkedInChapters:(00:00) - Introduction (01:02) - Meaning & Purpose as a Direction (01:42) - Coherence & Living in Alignment (02:23) - Design Thinking for Life Decisions (03:56) - Prototyping Conversations (05:29) - Odyssey Plans: Three Possible Futures (07:33) - The Four Elements of Meaning (09:22) - Wonder Glasses: Shifting Perspective (10:48) - Transactional vs. Flow World (12:36) - How to Build a Formative Community (13:59) - The Practice-to-Production Trap (15:07) - The Final Three Questions (18:35) - Conclusion

What if the “alpha” you've been chasing was never something you had to become… but something you had to remember? In this interview-season episode of the Alpha Male Coach Podcast, I sit down with a brother who's close to my heart: Salu “Lu” Smith - a fellow Projector, a long-time student in the Academy, a graduate of Tribe Class 002, and a mentor who returned to support Tribe Class 003. This is not a surface-level conversation about tactics, dominance, or performance. This is an initiation story. A seven-year transformation. A real example of what happens when a man stops outsourcing his power and starts listening to the voice inside him that already knows the truth.Lou takes us back to the beginning: 2018 in California, a relationship that exposed the “nice guy” conditioning, and the pressure he felt to become harder, stronger, more masculine - not from alignment, but from insecurity. Like a lot of men, he got pulled into the mainstream “alpha male” content and the idea that being an alpha was about getting women, gaining status, and proving something. But underneath that drive was something deeper: a craving to finally feel enough. That search eventually brought him to this podcast and to the Model of Alignment - the simple but life-changing understanding that your circumstances don't create your results… your thoughts do. Lou shares how he would come in and out of coaching at first, trying to “figure it out” on his own, until life humbled him into a deeper commitment. And that commitment became the turning point: not because the answers were outside of him, but because having a coach helped him see what he couldn't yet see in himself. We go deep on what it really means to invest in your inner world - especially when money fear, doubt, and ego resistance rise up. Lou explains how the leap always feels risky in the moment, but once the decision is made, reality starts rearranging around it. The money figures itself out. The mind quiets down. The path opens. From there, we talk about Tribe - not just as coach training, but as a high-accountability brotherhood container where men hold space for each other to grow, awaken, and lead. Lou shares what it was like to experience Tribe first as a student in Class 002, then to return as a mentor in Class 003. Watching other men rise didn't just inspire him - it expanded him. It sharpened his understanding. It brought new layers of wisdom online. And then we go to the hardest question of all: How do you explain “the lights being on” to someone who's never had the lights on before? How do you describe awakening to a man still living inside the program?Lou's answer is simple and profound: you don't convince the mind. You invite the feeling. You listen for resonance. You trust the signal. And you take the leap - even when it scares you - because that fear is often the ego trying to keep the old identity alive. If you've been feeling that pull inside you… this episode is for you.Elevate Your Alpha.

The tarot's Messenger of Water leads us into desire, self-love, and the art of romanticizing the ordinary. In this episode, I'm joined by Johanna for a grounded, honest conversation about body image, self-trust, and what alignment actually feels like, not as a concept, but as a lived experience in the body.Johanna shares her personal story of being shamed for having a strong, muscular body and how moments like that can quietly disconnect women from themselves. We talk about how body shame fractures trust, how external voices get louder than our own, and what it takes to gently rebuild a relationship with your body during seasons of grief, transition, or rebuilding. This conversation isn't about fixing your body, following rules, or striving for perfection. It's about learning to listen again. About recognizing when something feels off. And about understanding alignment not as discipline or performance, but as an inner sense of truth, safety, and self-respect.If you're in a season where your body feels unfamiliar or you're learning how to trust yourself again, this episode is an invitation to come back, gently.

Scholars of international relations, political thought, and India's international and diplomatic history are increasingly interested in the relevance of non-alignment in Indian foreign policy. The origins of such policies and debates can be traced back to Nehru's conceptualization of non-alignment at the height of the Cold War. In this deeply researched study of his years as Prime Minister, 1947–64, in The Nehru Years: An International History of Indian Non-Alignment (Cambridge UP, 2025) Dr. Swapna Kona Nayudu utilizes archival research in multiple languages to uncover Indian diplomatic influence in four major international events: the Korean War, the Suez Crisis, the Hungarian Revolution, and the Congo Crisis. Through this detailed examination, she explores the contested meaning of non-alignment, a policy almost unique in its ambiguity and its centrality to a nation's political life. The resulting history is a thoughtful critique of India's diplomatic position as the only non-aligned founding member of the UN. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. Let's unpack a truth most people don't want to admit: the thing you're avoiding is action. When you leave inaction untouched, it does not sit quietly. It grows. It drains you. And it quietly reshapes your life through mental drag, stress, and procrastination. Unaddressed conversations don't sit still. Ignored decisions don't pause. Delayed action doesn't disappear. It compounds. It leaks energy, creates anxiety, and slowly trains your nervous system to stay stuck. In this episode, Troy introduces the Bison Theory, a counterintuitive truth rooted in real behavior: while most animals run away from storms and stay trapped in them longer, bison run straight into the storm, shortening how long they suffer. This episode isn't about hype or grit for grit's sake. It's about why facing the thing you're avoiding is the fastest path to transformation, and how movement, not certainty, is what breaks the loop. If you've felt the weight of indecision, the drag of unfinished business, or the mental exhaustion of too many open loops, this conversation will feel uncomfortably familiar in the best way. This Episode Covers:Why avoidance is active, not neutral, and how it quietly compounds stressHow “direction determines duration” when it comes to pain and changeWhy facing the storm creates momentum even before clarity shows upHow anticipation of pain often hurts longer than the pain itselfThe real reason action restores energy faster than motivation ever willHow to stop negotiating with reality and start reclaiming agencyWhy transformation begins the moment you turn toward what you've been running fromBeyond The Episode Gems:Subscribe To My New Weekly LinkedIn Newsletter: Strategize. Democracy might be a brief historical blip. That's the unsettling thesis of a recent paper, which argues AI that can do all the work a human can do inevitably leads to the “gradual disempowerment” of humanity. For most of history, ordinary people had almost no control over their governments. Liberal democracy emerged only recently, and probably not coincidentally around the Industrial Revolution.Today's guest, David Duvenaud, used to lead the 'alignment evals' team at Anthropic, is a professor of computer science at the University of Toronto, and recently co-authored 'Gradual disempowerment.'Links to learn more, video, and full transcript: https://80k.info/ddHe argues democracy wasn't the result of moral enlightenment — it was competitive pressure. Nations that educated their citizens and gave them political power built better armies and more productive economies. But what happens when AI can do all the producing — and all the fighting?“The reason that states have been treating us so well in the West, at least for the last 200 or 300 years, is because they've needed us,” David explains. “Life can only get so bad when you're needed. That's the key thing that's going to change.”In David's telling, once AI can do everything humans can do but cheaper, citizens become a national liability rather than an asset. With no way to make an economic contribution, their only lever becomes activism — demanding a larger share of redistribution from AI production. Faced with millions of unemployed citizens turned full-time activists, democratic governments trying to retain some “legacy” human rights may find they're at a disadvantage compared to governments that strategically restrict civil liberties. But democracy is just one front. The paper argues humans will lose control through economic obsolescence, political marginalisation, and the effects on culture that's increasingly shaped by machine-to-machine communication — even if every AI does exactly what it's told. This episode was recorded on August 21, 2025.Chapters:Cold open (00:00:00)Who's David Duvenaud?
