In this episode of the Loan Officer Podcast, host Dustin Owen is joined by Marketing Mike and Special K for an in-depth discussion that tackles the widespread misconceptions surrounding mortgage company ownership and branch management. Together, they break down the common belief that owning a mortgage company or running a branch is a guaranteed path to wealth and financial freedom. Dustin candidly explains that these leadership roles rarely deliver the lucrative financial rewards many in the industry expect, emphasizing that true profitability requires not only significant loan volume but also advanced operational expertise, substantial capital investment, and a willingness to shoulder considerable risk and responsibility. The team delves into the ongoing trend of industry consolidation, highlighting how increased competition and tighter margins have made it even more challenging for small business owners and branch managers to thrive. They provide a transparent look at the true costs of ownership, including overhead expenses, compliance requirements, and the complexities of managing a team. The conversation also covers realistic income expectations, dispelling myths about easy money and underscoring the importance of understanding the business side of the mortgage industry. Throughout the episode, Dustin emphasizes that for most professionals, focusing on personal loan production and honing sales skills often yields better financial returns and job satisfaction than pursuing management or ownership roles. He shares personal anecdotes and hard-earned lessons, encouraging listeners to carefully evaluate their career goals and motivations before making the leap into leadership positions. The episode concludes with practical, actionable advice for loan officers seeking career clarity and sustainable growth in the ever-evolving mortgage industry. Dustin and his co-hosts urge listeners to prioritize self-awareness, ongoing education, and strategic planning to build a rewarding and resilient career path, whether as a top-producing loan officer or an informed leader. Last year he sold and installed $1,011,000 in electrical — out of one van. Mike Howie is a service technician at Travis Electrical Service in Clarksville, Tennessee. He does the selling and splits the installs 50-50. He did $612,000 one year and $1,011,000 the next — two years into residential service, in a middle-America market. He had about ten years in electrical first: an industrial apprenticeship, then a service shop that, in his words, “threw you out in the wind.” A three-week job became seven unpaid weeks in Texas and Oregon. He nearly lost the house, his wife's car was impounded, and he lost his mom in the middle of it. He found Travis on Indeed, emailed the owner's wife from Oregon, and she kept telling him one thing: “Just get home.” Then six months of ride-alongs and CertainPath training before anyone handed him a van. What changed between $612,000 and $1,011,000 was operational as much as personal. Travis added installers halfway through the year, anything over $1,000 started handing off, and Mike got into more houses. The rest of this conversation with host Bob Houchin is his entire service call, line by line. In this conversation, you'll discover: • Why adding an install team took him from $612,000 to $1,011,000 • The six-month onboarding most owners skip — and what that patience actually bought • Why he never finishes the troubleshoot, and the one question he asks instead • The chain-link analogy that makes a backstabbed outlet obvious to a homeowner • How he positions financing before the sticker shock lands • “First person that talks loses” — and the fifteen minutes he sat in total silence Whether you run an electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or roofing company, Mike's process shows how one well-trained technician turns ordinary service calls into a million dollars a year. Watch on YouTube or listen on your favorite podcast platform. If we are high-impact, low-ego folks and we keep our eye on the ball, that's a recipe for success no matter what industry you're in.NextGen Scientific is turning an ancient Middle Eastern medicinal plant into a modern platform for cancer drug development and wellness products. In this episode, I spoke with Jason West, co-founder of NextGen Scientific, a PurposeBuilt100™ company recognized for combining growth with measurable impact. Jason explained that the company operates along two related tracks: Hyatt Life Sciences, its dietary supplement business and Genzada Pharmaceuticals, its drug discovery and development company. The common thread is chemistry.Jason described the company's work with Arum palestinum, a plant that grows wild in the Middle East and has long been used there as a tea. That history is what pulled the scientific team in.“What caught our attention was that there are references to the use of this plant as a medicinal plant going all the way back to the 9th century AD,” Jason said. “For 1,100 years, it's been in continuous use.”That kind of longevity raised a serious scientific question for the team: why would people keep using it for more than a millennium if there were no benefit? Jason said NextGen began studying naturally occurring molecules in the plant, ultimately identifying compounds that became the basis for its oncology research. The company now has two lead oncology or oncology-related drug candidates. One is an oral capsule in clinical trials at Virginia Commonwealth University for late-stage prostate cancer, with trials expected in the Netherlands and Sweden. The other is a topical cream aimed at actinic keratosis, a precancerous skin condition with tens of millions of cases annually in the United States.Jason emphasized that the goal is not to replace oncologists but to help them. “We feel like we can be just one more tool in the toolbox of the oncologist, and that's what our ultimate goal is,” he said.Congratulations to NextGen Scientific LLC on ranking #46 on the 2026 PurposeBuilt100™ list! We're proud to recognize the company among America's fastest-growing mission-driven businesses, celebrating the connection between purpose, innovation, and growth. Meet the Class of 2026 — see the full list of winners →What I found especially compelling is the company's dual-path strategy. Drug development can be slow, expensive and risky. By building a supplement business alongside the pharmaceutical pipeline, NextGen has created revenue while continuing the long FDA-focused journey. That strategy emerged organically. In rural Kansas, word spread that the family was working with a tea tied to cancer wellness. People began asking for it. “By the end of the day, I think we were sending about 40 gallons of this tea out a week just to friends and family,” Jason said.NextGen Scientific is currently raising capital through a Regulation D offering for accredited investors, targeting just over $10 million. Jason said proceeds will help accelerate clinical trials, open new trial fronts and support marketing for the supplement business. It is exactly the kind of purpose-built growth story I love to celebrate.tl;dr:Jason West's team is translating an ancient Middle Eastern plant into cancer drugs and supplements.NextGen Scientific pairs Genzada Pharmaceuticals' clinical pipeline with Hyatt Life Sciences' wellness products.Small-town curiosity created unexpected demand, eventually reaching roughly 40 gallons of tea weekly.A Regulation D raise seeks just over $10 million from accredited investors to accelerate trials.Low-ego brilliance helps Jason keep hard conversations focused on data, kindness and learning. How to Develop Low-Ego Brilliance As a SuperpowerJason's superpower is Low-Ego Brilliance. He describes it as being among people with “big brains and small egos.” For Jason, the combination matters because “if we are high-impact, low-ego folks and we keep our eye on the ball, that's a recipe for success no matter what industry you're in.” He connects the idea to persistence, humility and disciplined focus: “You just have to keep on putting one foot in front of the other.” His advice is simple but powerful: “Take the phone call. Always take the phone call.”Jason shared a story about meeting with an exceptionally smart but highly skeptical person who seemed to have little patience for NextGen's science. Rather than taking offense or trying to win a personality contest, Jason and his team stayed calm and redirected the conversation to the data. A meeting scheduled for 15 or 20 minutes stretched to about two hours. By the end, the skeptic had become a friend. Jason summed up the lesson this way: “If you have the data on your side, you don't need to be too big for your britches.”Build teams with big brains and small egos; value impact over status.Keep your eye on the ball, especially when the work is long and difficult.Put one foot in front of the other rather than demanding instant success. When challenged, redirect the conversation to evidence instead of emotion.Be kind to skeptics; you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.Take the phone call when you can because there is almost always something to learn.Stay curious, not judgmental, especially when you assume a conversation will not matter.By following Jason's example and advice, you can make low-ego brilliance a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileJason West (he/him):Executive Vice President, NextGen ScientificAbout NextGen Scientific: NextGen Scientific is a biotechnology and life sciences company dedicated to advancing innovative oncology research and developing evidence-based therapeutic solutions.

Most of us know we're moving too fast, but can't figure out how to stop. In this episode, journalist and author Carl Honoré joins Michael and Megan to explain how we got addicted to speed, what we're missing out on as a result, and why slowing down is a skill that requires practice. They dig into the warning signs that you're living too fast and the hidden math that makes quick fixes more expensive than slow ones. Our world moves fast. The good news is, you don't have to.Memorable Quotes“There's an intimate bond between slowness and remembering… Everything just moves very fast, nothing sticks, and you don't remember anything.”“Slow is a byword for lazy, boring, stupid, unproductive, all the things nobody wants to be associated with. And this taboo works like this: It means that even when we can feel in our bones that it'd be good for us to put on the brakes, even when we're yearning to slow down, we don't do it, because the taboo makes us feel ashamed, guilty, afraid.”“People often say, ‘We don't have time for a slow fix. We only have time for a quick fix,' right?... But then later on, when the quick fix proves to have failed and blows up in our face, we always find time then to pick up the pieces and deal with the fallout, don't we?”“In this road runner culture, we are all marinated in adrenaline… I think we are now chemically, emotionally, physically, and biologically addicted to the rush of speed, and that drives us into the arms of the quick fix.”“We need to build in little rituals—whether it's meditation, reading a bit of poetry, sketching, whatever it is—that reacquaint us with slower, deeper rhythms… It kind of inoculates you against the virus of hurry… and allows you to come back into the fray with a mindset that is more still, more calm, more focused, more able to see the big picture.”“It's about doing things at, at the right speed. Musicians have a beautiful term for this. They call it the tempo giusto, right? The correct tempo for each piece of music… It's putting quality before quantity. It's being present, being in the moment… Slow is about doing everything not as fast as possible, but as well as possible.”“One of the best ways to find that deeper, slower, healthier, richer rhythm, is spending time in nature. Because nature is the ultimate cradle of slowness. Everything happens in nature at the right pace.”“Judiciously applied slowness can fire up creativity, can supercharge innovation, can deepen communication, and can avoid costly mistakes.”Key TakeawaysLive in Tempo. There's no one right speed, and slower isn't always better. Musicians have a word for what we're after: tempo giusto, the correct tempo for the piece. Sometimes, that tempo is fast! The skill is discerning the right speed, and moving at that pace.Your Body Sends the Bill. Constant exhaustion, sloppy mistakes at work, and weeks you can't quite recall are all symptoms of a life lived in overdrive. Your body isn't built to sustain that pace. Sooner or later, the bill comes due.Quick Fixes Are Expensive. We reach for the fast solution because we believe we don't have time for the slow one. But quick fixes usually create costly problems. Investing in slowness up front saves us hours and dollars.Pull the Andon Rope. In Toyota factories, any worker at any rank could pull a rope and stop the entire production line when they spotted a problem. Everyone had permission to slow down and go find the root cause. What would that make possible in your company?Slowness Requires Practice. Deciding to slow down won't undo decades of speed. Slowing requires intentional practice. Choose hobbies or activities that require you to downshift—and don't be surprised if you feel restless at first.ResourcesIn Praise of Slowness by Carl HonoréThe Slow Fix by Carl Honorécarlhonore.info This episode was produced by Sarah Vorhees Wendel of VW Sound

DHU MAILING LIST! - Go to DHUnplugged.com LAKE AMERICA - Google Maps now shows "Lake America" to U.S. users after the federal naming change. - Canadian users still see "Lake Ontario"; users elsewhere see both names. - Canada did not adopt the change, setting up an easy cross-border naming fight. OIL / IRAN - Last week - Oil dropped more than 3% as traders viewed tougher Iran sanctions as less disruptive than renewed military escalation. - Brent fell to roughly $88.58 and WTI to about $82.36. - Washington stopped short of immediately targeting major Chinese banks buying Iranian oil. - Markets also reacted to hopes for improved navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. ----  OH WAIT>>>> IRAN - FIGHT IS ON - We are back bombing and they are retaliating - We retaliate, they bomb - Threat: President Trump in phone interview with Fox News reporter repeats that if Iran retaliates, they will be hit harder, but he adds that if Iran retaliates for a third time "they will be totally wiped out as a country"; says any deal with Iran will not be "worth the paper it is printed on" - Oil Up ... LEGO BOOM - Lego first-half revenue jumped 21% to about $6.5 billion. - Net profit rose 32%, while consumer sales increased 22%. - More than 330 new products helped drive demand across Star Wars, Formula 1, Botanicals and other franchises. - Lego continues gaining share while expanding stores and manufacturing capacity. WAIT - WE'RE BOMBING IRAN AGAIN - U.S. forces struck Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island near the Strait of Hormuz, the first U.S. attack on Iran in several weeks. - Iran retaliated with missile attacks targeting U.S. bases in Jordan, restarting direct military exchanges. - Oil jumped more than 2%; Brent moved back above $90 and WTI above $85. - The Strait remains the key issue: roughly 20% of global oil shipments pass through it, so actual disruption to tanker traffic matters more than the headlines. IRAN SANCTIONS - Treasury warned countries doing business with Iran could face secondary sanctions and loss of access to the dollar system. - Scott Bessent described the campaign as an "economic D-Day." - Treasury sanctioned dozens of people, companies and vessels but initially avoided major Chinese financial institutions. - The expanded sanctions reach oil, shipping, gold, aviation, technology and digital assets. JOBS REPORT / FED TEST - August payrolls hit Friday after July shocked with a 23,000 job decline. - Expectations are for only modest job growth, making revisions and the unemployment rate especially important. - Fed rate-hike odds jumped after Kevin Warsh's hawkish Jackson Hole comments; a strong jobs number could push them higher. - JOLTS, ADP and ISM data provide several previews before Friday.   Love the Show? Over the summer, thousands of young Indians took to the streets to demand sweeping reforms of the higher education sector. This unexpected wave of Gen Z mobilization was catalyzed by the emergence of the Cockroach Janata Party, a satirical meme that blossomed into a national movement. Protests that began over the state of higher education soon tapped into something much larger: growing frustration among young Indians over jobs, economic opportunity, and their prospects for the future. India's jobs debate is often framed around a familiar set of concerns: too many people working in agriculture, too few manufacturing jobs, an economy that is too-services oriented, and stubbornly high unemployment among the young. Our guest on the show this week has views on these subjects that often cut against the conventional wisdom. Vidya Mahambare is the Union Bank Chair Professor of Economics and Director at the Great Lakes Institute of Management in Chennai. She studies central banking and monetary policy, structural transformation, labor market dynamics and gender economics. She is also a prolific commentator and writes regularly for outlets like Mint, Business Standard, and The Print. She joins Milan on the Season 16 premiere of Grand Tamasha to discuss the economic drivers of the Gen Z protests, the link between unemployment and education, and the futility of the manufacturing versus services debate. Plus, the two discuss the exodus of young people from the agricultural sector, the misleading headlines on female labor force participation, and India's acute urban housing shortage. Episode notes: Vidya Mahambare and Vivek Yadav, “Indian farms have been losing their workers—at a time they need the youth to improve farming,” Mint, July 20, 2026. Vidya Mahambare and Vivek Yadav, “Employed women in Uttar Pradesh—what explains such a large increase within a decade?” Mint, July 1, 2026. Vidya Mahambare and Asrar Alam, “Elusive jobs: how AI will demand even greater patience of India's unemployed youth,” Mint May 11, 2026. Vidya Mahambare and Poonam Munjal, “Are young Indians under or overworked? Both are true but AI may change work hours as we go along,” Mint, April 14, 2026. Vidya Mahambare, “Urbanization pressure: India's housing policy needs a rethink,” Mint, April 22, 2024. Vidya Mahambare et al., “The employment profile of India's young adults,” Hindu Business Line, May 5, 2026. At 11:29 in the recording, the guest misspoke when she said: “By 2025, we want to have a 50% of higher education rate in India." She later clarified that she meant to say 2035, not 2025.

Why do we spend so much time worrying about the risks of making a change, but rarely consider the risks of doing nothing? In Part Two of Why Podiatrists Play It Safe, I explore 13 more reasons podiatrists resist change, even when they know their practice, career, or personal development could benefit from doing something differently. We look at the fear of being judged by your team, getting burnt by a previous experience, waiting for evidence before experimenting, comparing yourself with others, worrying about becoming too commercial and being afraid to stand out. I also explain why trying something new doesn't mean you're committing to it forever. Most business experiments can be tested, adjusted or reversed. But perhaps the biggest issue is that we often overestimate the downside of change while underestimating the cost of doing nothing. Not increasing your fees, improving your systems, learning new technology, developing your leadership skills or changing ineffective marketing all have a cost. And finally, there's an important distinction between discomfort and danger.

Patrick and Tim discuss Tim's latest book, An Axe and Four Balloons, which tells the story of Brian Franks—the former Etonian and hotel manager who became a wartime commando and is credited with saving the SAS from extinction after the Second World War. Tim explores Franks's military career, from his early days in the Middlesex Yeomanry and commando raids in the desert, to leading 2 SAS during the perilous Operation Loyton in the Vosges Mountains and his post-war hunt for German war criminals. The discussion broadens into big-picture concepts of military philosophy and modern society. Tim reflects on the nature of leadership and shares his definition of courage as "the management of fear." They also examine the qualities of historical mavericks, whether modern political leadership is lacking, and whether the youth of today would step up to defend their country if called upon.Join the Conversation: If you have a question about the war in Ukraine or any of the conflicts we cover, email us at podbattleground@gmail.comFollow us on:X - @PodBattlegroundInstagram - podbattlegroundProducer: James HodgsonA Goalhanger Podcast Hosted on Acast. Eric Smith is the founder of Edacious, a company building the infrastructure to make food quality and nutrient density measurable, objective and comparable. After spending years building a nutrition-testing platform capable of measuring macronutrients, micronutrients, bioactives and phytochemicals, alongside the benchmarks and data systems needed to make those measurements useful, he returns to sit down with us to share what they have been building, how the field of nutritional testing has evolved, and the critical insights they have uncovered. At the heart of Eric's work is a simple belief:  if consumers can access and verify the quality of their food, they will demand products grown in ways that prioritize soil health and regenerative practices. This increased market demand will structurally direct more money into the pockets of farmers and land stewards, enabling them to expand regenerative agriculture across more hectares, creating a self-sustaining loop of human and ecological health. To ground this concept in science, Edacious leverages the GEMP framework—Genetics by Environment by Management practice equals Yield by Nutrition—moving beyond subjective labels to deliver objective, verified data. This episode is a deep, down-to-earth dive into the nuts and bolts of quality, nutrient density, and systemic agricultural change. Eric teases the science behind Edacious' preeminent nutrition lab, which has processed over 6,000 food samples and generated nearly a million analytical data points. The conversation exposes the compromises of industrial crop breeding through the story of carrots, compares apples to apples, reveals the massive nutritional differences hidden in the skins of produce, and explores how Eric's own eating habits have transformed since he gained direct access to the data, including a surprising advocacy for frozen food and ancient grains.More about this episode.Thoughts? What if the biggest thing holding your dealership back isn't the market, the leads, or even the competition... but the habits happening inside the store every single day? "The biggest bad habit you have is that you allow your employees to run your dealership." - Sean V. Bradley In this episode of the Millionaire Car Salesman Podcast, Sean V. Bradley and LA Williams take a hard look at the small, repeated behaviors that can quietly limit performance across every level of a dealership, from salespeople to leadership. "You've got to expect greatness from yourself." - LA Williams The conversation explores how complacency, inconsistent follow-up, underused technology, negative thinking, and drifting away from proven processes can slowly become part of the culture if they are not addressed. Sean and LA also challenge automotive professionals to think bigger about ownership, accountability, and personal growth, including what it really means to maximize the tools, training, opportunities, and resources already available to you. "If you don't know the tools inside and out, you're only using 10% or 20% of the potential value of it." - Sean V. Bradley If you are serious about becoming sharper, more disciplined, and more intentional in your career, this conversation will definitely make you look at your daily routine a little differently! Key Takeaways: ✅ Many sales professionals fail to fully utilize the advanced tools and systems available at their dealerships, thereby limiting their potential success. ✅ Developing a proactive mindset and treating car sales as an entrepreneurial endeavor can significantly enhance individual and dealership success. ✅ Effective training and personal development go beyond learning sales tactics, encompassing mastery of digital marketing, customer relationship management, and personal branding. ✅ Managers and dealer principals need to enforce accountability and ensure their teams adhere to proven processes, instead of allowing complacent behaviors. ✅ Reflecting on personal weaknesses and embracing continuous improvement can lead to personal and professional transformation.   About Sean V. Bradley Sean V. Bradley is a renowned entrepreneur, keynote speaker, and CEO of Dealer Synergy, a company specializing in training and consulting automotive dealerships to improve sales and operations. With over two decades of experience in the automotive industry, Sean is a celebrated author and is recognized for his innovative strategies in digital marketing and customer relationship management.   About LA Williams LA Williams, also known as the Blind Master, holds the position of Vice President at Dealer Synergy. He is the co-creator of the Millionaire Car Salesman Podcast and an acclaimed author. Despite being totally blind, LA has achieved significant success by leveraging his unique frameworks to inspire and educate automotive professionals to overcome adversity and maximize their potential.     Harnessing Success: Dissecting Effective Strategies from Automotive Sales Titans Key Takeaways Understanding and leveraging tools and technology is imperative for maximizing success in the automotive sales industry. The mindset of treating automotive sales as your own business can lead to unparalleled growth and innovation. Leadership rooted in authentic practice and constant self-improvement sets the groundwork for dealership excellence.   In the high-octane world of automotive sales, the difference between mediocrity and greatness isn't just about product knowledge or charismatic sales pitches. As illuminated in a vibrant exchange between industry veterans Sean V. Bradley and LA Williams, the path to monumental success encompasses mindset mastery, strategic tool utilization, and transformational leadership. With Sean's no-nonsense approach to self-empowerment and LA's captivating advocacy for greatness, automotive professionals are invited to embrace a revolutionary perspective on sales, management, and personal development.   Mastering Technology in Automotive Sales One of the most pertinent themes discussed is the underutilization of technology and resources within dealerships. Sean V. Bradley emphasizes the necessity for employees to fully engage with their available tools, stating, "You are only as strong as your weakest link." This indicates that even the most advanced technologies, akin to the latest iPhone features, yield little value if only used for basic functions. In dealerships where resources like CRM systems, AI integration, and data mining tools are abundant, the challenge is not in their availability but in their effective utilization. As Sean elaborates using the analogy of a ninja equipped with an arsenal of weapons, the expertise lies not in possessing tools but in mastering them: "Can you imagine if you only were able to use it basic or rudimentary?" The implications of this extend beyond individual success, reflecting on the dealership's profitability and competitive edge. With every employee maximizing their toolset, the collective efficacy of the dealership multiplies.   Adopting an Entrepreneurial Mindset Transitioning from technology to mindset, Sean and LA underscore an entrepreneurial approach to automotive sales, treating it as one's own business. Many salespeople fall into the trap of dependency, leading to complacency and stagnation. Instead, Sean encourages a paradigm shift, "You are building your business within the dealership's business." This self-starter attitude circumvents any limitations posed by the dealership's supply of leads or market fluctuations. By pursuing eight varied strategies for car sales—ranging from walk-ins to referrals and beyond—sales professionals can expand their influence and multiply opportunities. This entrepreneurial mindset not only fuels personal income growth but fosters an environment where innovation thrives, setting apart top performers like Cody Carter, who achieved remarkable earnings by mastering these principles. The broader impact of this theme reveals a market characterized by agile, autonomous professionals poised for optimum success.   Transformative Leadership and Accountability Effective leadership, as addressed by Sean, emerges as the backbone of all transformative practices within a dealership. Critically, he observes a pervasive issue: leaders allowing employees to dictate the pace and quality of operations. "You allow your employees to run your dealership," Sean firmly states, highlighting a common pitfall among dealers. For an organization striving for excellence, leadership rooted in authentic practice and unwavering accountability holds the key. The narrative implores leaders to embody the values and discipline they wish to instill in their teams. "Are you the personification of what you're trying to articulate to your people?" Sean challenges. By doing so, they ensure that processes are adhered to and that strategic goals are not just theoretical ideals but operational realities. This approach to leadership extends beyond immediate organizational benefits, fostering a culture that values integrity, dedication, and continuous improvement. As these qualities permeate through all organizational levels, the dealership elevates its standing and success in the competitive automotive landscape.   In examining the dynamic dialogue and intricate strategies shared by Sean V. Bradley and LA Williams, automotive professionals are invited to transcend conventional practices and embrace transformative methodologies. From mastering cutting-edge technologies to adopting an entrepreneurial spirit, and executing authentic leadership, the road to monumental success is paved with conscious decisions, self-mastery, and community empowerment. This profound discourse draws a blueprint not merely for immediate gain but for enduring excellence and innovation in the automotive sales industry.       Resources + Our Proud Sponsors:   ➼ Podium: The AI Platform Powering the Modern Dealership. OMB publishes anticipated memo enforcing Login-dot-gov use

The Office of Management and Budget has officially released a memo directing agencies to expand the use of Login-dot-gov for user identity verification in a push to make it the universal sign-on for public services. In a six-page document dated Monday, OMB Director Russell Vought told agencies the absence of a clear strategy has led to agencies deploying various sign-on solutions and taking different approaches to digital identity management. Per the memo, that means users often need multiple sign-ons and the government pays more. “This policy enforces Login.gov as the universal sign-on for accessing public services online, enabling more seamless and efficient service delivery while safeguarding user privacy and supporting resilience against fraud and security threats,” Vought said in the memo. Official release of the policy comes after OMB recently circulated a draft version of the document to leaders for feedback. FedScoop obtained a copy of that draft and first reported on its contents last week. At the time, current and former officials viewed the policy as an effort to continue a longstanding push to establish a single sign-on for government. Login, which is run by the General Services Administration, was first envisioned under President Barack Obama, launched in 2017 during President Donald Trump's first term and continued under President Joe Biden. It was created after Congress required that agencies establish a single sign-on platform for government website logins. A newly released whistleblower complaint reveals details about the “rushed” effort by the Trump administration and U.S. Postal Service to install three new restrictive IT systems that would potentially deny thousands of mail-in ballots, if the federal government disagrees on their eligibility. According to the complaint, written by attorneys at the nonprofit Whistleblower Aid and released by Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., the individual is a federal employee with “direct knowledge of potentially catastrophic problems” related to USPS' handling of mail-in ballots for the upcoming 2026 midterm elections. The person claims that USPS is deploying entirely “new and untested” IT systems, including a new Federal Ballot Mail Portal that would potentially give USPS more control over when and whether states receive federal mail ballots for their voters. The disclosure describes the portal and other systems as “new IT systems and corresponding protocols [that] will govern the delivery of ballots to voters as soon as the 2026 mid-term federal elections and beyond.” It calls the development process “secretive, rushed, chaotic and fundamentally flawed,” and part of a larger effort by agency leaders to rush implementation of the system ahead of the 2026 elections. During the pandemic, Anthony Klotz predicted the “Great Resignation”: a mass exodus of unhappy workers leaving their jobs after COVID epiphanies. Now, he's seeing a different pattern begin to emerge as people opt to hunker down in their current jobs until they can find a better option. Anthony is an organizational psychologist and professor at the London School of Management. His recent book, Jolted: Why We Quit, When to Stay, and Why It Matters, explores how we make decisions in our jobs and careers. In this episode, he joins Anne and Frances to weigh in on the patterns developing right now in the world of quitting, offer practical advice for how to make measured decisions in a fickle job market, and explain the phenomenon he calls “jolts,” when a person experiences something that causes them to suddenly reevaluate their position. Together, they also work through a listener's dilemma as she navigates a relationship with collaborators who mistrust each other, and offer tips for leaders who suspect a member of their team may be considering quitting.
