This is a fan fav episode. The word ‘capitalism' seems to make some people happy, while making others cringe. The U.S. started as a capitalist society and has evolved into a mix of capitalism and socialism. As society and technology evolves, how should our economic system evolve in response? In this episode, Sir Ronald Cohen, “the father of British venture capital” speaks with Tom about the importance of social impact and what impact investing is evolving into and how it can change the social world for the better. Creating systems that support entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and social responsibility of big companies is just the tip of a massive iceberg. Listen in to see how this all ties into our natural desire to evolve and strive for more than just money. #658: An unusual First Friday episode because we don't have a jobs report. However, we do know that in October, U.S. companies announced more job cuts in a single month than they have over any single month of the last 20 years. In other words, October was peak job cut month. By contrast, private payrolls, as reported by ADP, rose by 42,000 in October, so we have a little bit of conflicting data. Some pessimistic, some optimistic. We're going to take a deeper look at that in today's episode. In this episode of The Modern Man Podcast, host Ted Phaeton engages with Rick Walker, author of 'Nine Steps to Build a Life of Meaning.' They discuss the importance of family, the challenges young men face today, and the necessity of embracing failure as a pathway to growth. Rick shares practical advice for daily improvement, the value of reading old books, and how facing fears can lead to personal development. The conversation emphasizes the significance of community, accountability, and the pursuit of a meaningful life. Takeaways Too many men are winning on paper, but losing themselves. The most important thing we do is who we raise. Life is merely a string of failures with occasional moments of perfection. Pain ultimately becomes the only pathway to joy. The purpose of a good man is to invade the evil that he sees around him. The two shall become one, it doesn't say that you stop being one flesh. The thing that you least want to do is the thing you most need to do next. If you don't know what you want, find out what you don't want to exist. The older the sage, the quicker the solution. If one man's done it, another man can do it. In today's episode, Tom Bilyeu and Drew dive headfirst into America's current political and economic landscape, unpacking the recent “blue wave” of Democratic wins—including Zoran Mamdani's victory in NYC—and what it signals for the future of governance, policy, and the middle class. The conversation kicks off with heated reflections on the consequences of political shifts, examining the impact of progressive policies, the perennial debate over wealth and poverty, and the mechanics of economic systems that are driving so much division. Drew shares candid thoughts on why some policies, while well-intentioned, might be leading us toward more hardship, especially for the working class—all while painting vivid analogies connecting personal growth, historical lessons, and even Greek myths to our current reality. From government shutdowns and fiscal responsibility to the behind-the-scenes drama of Congress and power plays among billionaires, no stone is left unturned. The episode even touches on breaking news like the UPS cargo plane disaster, the precarious state of America's air travel infrastructure, and technological leaps with wireless brain implants, before rounding out with world affairs like Tommy Robinson's acquittal in the UK. Join Tom Bilyeu and Drew as they challenge conventional wisdom, debate the path forward, and highlight why cultivating a thriving middle class may just be the greatest KPI for America's future. This week on Giving Done Right, we're introducing you to another podcast we love: Nonprofits Now: Leading Today, from The Chronicle of Philanthropy. In this episode, two leaders, Kathleen St. Louis Caliento and Nick Grono, join Chronicle CEO Stacy Palmer to explain how they have engaged their board in financial efforts. As nonprofits face economic headwinds — including losses in federal funding, rising costs, and the possibility of a global recession — nonprofit boards play an increasingly essential role. Trustees help with strategy and can also be powerful donors and fundraisers. Yet fewer than a quarter of respondents to a Chronicle survey described their board members as enthusiastic fundraisers. Grono and St. Louis Caliento share their advice on how to inspire boards to champion your mission and share insights from their shared experience of working with trustees to manage unrestricted, multimillion-dollar grants from MacKenzie Scott. St. Louis Caliento runs Cara Collective, a Chicago nonprofit that helps low-income people find jobs. Grono heads the Freedom Fund, an organization that pools funds from donors who want to fight modern-day slavery. He's the author of “How to Lead Nonprofits: Turning Purpose into Impact to Change the World,” published in 2024.

In this episode, Steph discusses the profound impact of feedback—both positive and negative—on our daily lives. She emphasizes how our brains tend to focus more on negative experiences, often overshadowing the positive. A University of Pennsylvania study was aptly titled "Bad is Stronger than Good" because of this finding. By understanding this tendency, we can take proactive steps to give and receive feedback more effectively, fostering a healthier mindset and improving our interactions with others. The conversation highlights the importance of maintaining a positive feedback ratio, to give away positive feedback, compliments and praise, and encourages listeners to reframe their perceptions of daily experiences.Chapters00:00 The Impact of Feedback on Our Lives03:45 The Power of Positive Feedback08:11 Reframing Negative Feedback09:57 Taking Control of Our ExperiencesSign up for "The Impact Effect" newsletter at stephsaffer.com

In the riveting conclusion of Tom Bilyeu's conversation with WhatifAltHist, we journey deeper into the social and psychological forces driving the modern malaise. This segment picks up with the feminization of culture, the consequences for masculinity, and how evolutionary psychology explains everything from birth rate collapse to rising social distrust. With both wit and a sharp edge, WhatifAltHist analyzes the shifting dynamics between men and women, the devastating impact of merit suppression, hypergamy, and why Gen Z faces a world of atomized social interaction and declining family formation. Part two dives into the pathology of the modern left—from ideological purity spirals to the breakdown of authentic community and the rise of suicidal empathy. The conversation explores the perils of unchecked immigration, authoritarian overreach, and the dangers of ignoring biological realities. The episode wraps with hard-hitting advice on how society might regenerate—championing a return to masculinity, social trust, and the restoration of a truly human context. If you want insight into the deep mechanics of our culture war and the blueprint for unwinding the crisis, this is an essential listen.
