In this episode, Scott Becker examines the U.S. approach to Iran, rising economic pressure and the escalating trade tensions with Canada.
In 2007, an abandoned photo album revealed the chilling normality of life at the Nazis' most notorious concentration camp, Auschwitz. The 116 black-and-white images had been sent to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, in Washington DC, to be considered for their archives. In the photographs, SS officers are seen laughing, singing and celebrating, while a short distance away hundreds of thousands of people, mainly Jews, are being murdered. Among those pictured are Rudolf Höss, the camp commandant, and German doctor, Josef Mengele, known as the Angel of Death.Archivist Rebecca Erbelding tells Jane Wilkinson that the photos are an important reminder of how casually those running Auschwitz approached their work.Witness History is a short BBC World Service podcast about history that takes you inside big moments from the past through first-hand testimony and archive. Each weekday, in around nine minutes, we revisit one moment that helped shape the world and hear it through the voice of someone who was there. Scientists, artists, campaigners, soldiers, leaders and everyday people tell their true stories. When you subscribe to Witness History, you'll be taken inside turning points in world affairs from West Africa's fight back against Boko Haram in 2015 to the behind-closed-doors talks that led to the US-Cuba “thaw” and the surprise announcement of restored relations. You'll discover what it was like to experience disasters and how people recovered from them, including the Tabasco floods in Mexico, Portugal's worst train disaster, and the huge clean-up after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. You'll explore culture and ideas too: Sweden's Expedition Robinson, often credited as the first modern reality TV game show; the friendship between The Beatles' George Harrison and Indian sitarist Ravi Shankar; and the night a tiger attack brought Las Vegas superstars Siegfried and Roy's show to a sudden end. And if you're curious about inventions, we'll tell you how air fryers, BlackBerry, YouTube, Alexa, GPS, superglue, the shopping cart (shopping trolley) and bubble tea were created. If you're new to Witness History, the appeal is simple: real voices, one strong true story, and a fresh way to understand today through events from history – all in the time it takes to enjoy a cup of tea or a walk around the block. No script, no safe direction, and absolutely no guarantee where the conversation is going. The crew kicks things off with WNBA betting, Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and the increasingly bizarre trend of objects getting thrown onto basketball courts. From there, things quickly go off the rails with a discussion about Fast & Furious 11, Paul Walker, whether Tupac could somehow show up in the franchise, and just how far Hollywood can stretch a movie series before reality no longer matters. The conversation turns to politics, government spending, Washington D.C., American priorities, foreign policy, the midterm elections, beef recalls, wild horses, fake meat, and trying to figure out exactly what we're eating anymore. Mason also introduces the crew to MC Type's "Mansplaining," which leads into Ju Unit's massive archive of old songs, unfinished tracks, music videos, Bandcamp plans, and memories from the early days of making ridiculous videos. Later, the guys get into wine, steaks, Leonardo DiCaprio movies, Shutter Island, Secret Window, Inception, The Basketball Diaries, Bruce Lee movies, Neuralink, universal translators, AI, microplastics, The Walking Dead, Mitch McConnell, Snowfall, and why the first episode of Black Mirror is one hell of an introduction to a television series. (00:00-25:51) – Query & Company kicks off on a Monday with Jake Query and producer Eddie Garrison recapping the Freedom 250 Grand Prix from Washington D.C. yesterday, and the quarterback two battle with how poor Riley Leonard performed against the Atlanta Falcons. (25:51-37:41) – The Indianapolis Colts defense left a lot to be desired in Saturday’s preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons. Jake dives into the performance of the pass rushers because there is a lot the Colts are banking on this season and CJ Allen’s NFL debut. (37:41-44:44) – Jake Query concludes the first hour of the show by expressing the concern that he has about Charvarius Ward’s availability for week one with how little information we have about his back injury. (44:44-1:12:31) – The Dean, Mike Chappell, from CBS4 and FOX59 makes his weekly stop on Query & Company to chat with Jake Query about the latest happenings with the Indianapolis Colts. Their conversation starts by discussing the brutal second preseason game for the Colts, his current thoughts on the QB2 battle between Anthony Richardson Sr. and Riley Leonard and then they transition to the kicking competition and his thoughts on the Alec Pierce recovery timeline. (1:12:31-1:29:13) – Indiana Fever radio analyst Bria Goss joins Jake Query to recap the five-game road trip for the team and to discuss the vulnerability that Stephanie White showed when asked about how she compartmentalizes the drama and outside noise. They also get into the best guard duo in the WNBA performing at an elite level last night and the development of MaKayla Timpson from last year to this season. (1:29:13-1:54:50) – Jake Query kicks off the final hour of today’s show by diving more into the Indianapolis Colts loss to the Atlanta Falcons in preseason game two on Saturday with neither quarterback performing well. Jake believes that the entire Colts front office is wanting Riley Leonard to show them something, but he just hasn’t through two preseason games. What if some of your best real estate opportunities aren't traditional leads—they're people with problems you can actually solve? In this solo episode, Chris shares how he went from making $25,000 a year in ministry to finding his first real estate deals by literally knocking on the doors of homeowners facing foreclosure. He explains how massive imperfect action helped him get started, why distressed properties became a foundation of his real estate business, and how agents can apply the same principles today.Chris breaks down two major sources of opportunity: building deep referral relationships with professionals like estate attorneys, financial planners, divorce attorneys, and CPAs, and using curated data to identify homeowners who may be more likely to need real estate help. He also explains why better lists, better tools, and consistent follow-up can dramatically improve the effectiveness of your prospecting. In This Episode, You'll Learn:Why massive imperfect action can beat waiting until you know exactly what you're doing How distressed-property opportunities helped Chris build his real estate business How to build referral relationships with estate attorneys, financial planners, divorce attorneys, and CPAs How curated data can help you “hunt where the ducks are” instead of blindly cold callingHow to prioritize an existing database based on which contacts are most likely to sell The simple combination Chris recommends: referral partners + targeted data + working the list consistentlyConnect with Chris:Instagram: @craddrockFacebook: Chris Craddock BusinessRESOURCES:

In this barn burner of an episode, Joe dives headfirst into the mounting tensions surrounding election integrity and government transparency. Opening with damning claims from investigative reporter John Solomon regarding intelligence officials withholding key election security details, the show sets a fiery tone against system vulnerabilities and institutional silence. Joe dissects the growing skepticism among the electorate, targeting controversial mechanisms like the ERIC voter roll system while taking aim at the broad apathy and dismissive narratives dominating mainstream discussion. The focus shifts to cyber-security and election operations as expert Mark Cook joins the broadcast to pull back the curtain on voting system vulnerabilities. Highlighting alarming technical capabilities like tabulator hard drive wiping utilities and sharing firsthand observations from recent field investigations in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Cook provides a granular look at the mechanical and procedural risks threatening ballot security. The conversation builds on testimony from election officials, challenging the narrative surrounding automated tabulators and procedural transparency.Closing out the lineup, former Colorado elections clerk Tina Peters steps into the spotlight to discuss her ongoing national campaign for election reform. Fresh off high-level meetings in Washington D.C. with prominent figures like Howard Lutnick and Harmeet Dhillon, Peters shares critical updates on her political trajectory, including a potential return to public administration with an offered position in Shasta County, California. Joe brings the show home by tying together these individual battles into a broader picture of resistance, accountability, and the future of American voting systems.

David Waldman packs our heads and sends us off for the weekend. Donald K. Trump's imperial push has found a bit of a sticky wicket in Iran, yet his war with the US Navy is going splendidly, with their surrendering the naming of an aircraft carrier to him. What were the chances of Pete Hegseth ever allowing some unknown DEI hire with a CRT name like Doris Miller making some boat woke anyhow? Trump's war on Washington DC is scheduled to make the rubble bounce this weekend with his Grand Prix. Sure, some delicate old stuff might get broken during the celebration, but that's because it wasn't made in America. The event will be followed by the first annual Running of the Bulls through the Smithsonian. Those smarties in Silicon Valley invented AI to destroy our way of life along with the economy but really, any dope with a rifle could do that in 5 minutes. There's fake polling, and there's fake vote.gov, but you really need to beware real government websites, because they're really out to get you. The Department of Homeland Security discovered 16,000 non-citizen voters in Nevada, or maybe 185 "potential" ones. Counting isn't their strong suit, and usually just gets in the way. Trump needs quick money for his projects because if they are slow, someone usually makes him give it back. Trump only stumps in states that clap for him.

//The Wire//2300Z August 19, 2026// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: PRESIDENT TRUMP ANNOUNCES HALT TO DIPLOMATIC EFFORTS WITH IRAN. DUBAI CONFIRMS YESTERDAY'S MISSILE ATTACK ORIGINATED FROM IRAN. ISRAELIS STRIKE AIRBASE IN SYRIA. TAJIK NATIONAL FLEES MURDER CONVICTION IN UNITED STATES AFTER VIRGINIA ALLOWS HIM TO OBTAIN PASSPORT.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Persian Gulf: Following yesterday's missile warnings in Dubai, the culprit of the missile attack was revealed to be not the Houthis, but Iran. Two ballistic missiles were launched from within Iran, with one impacting in the Gulf, and the other landing somewhere outside the UAE. Emirati officials have stated that the missiles were not intended for them, and that the missiles were attempting to target merchant vessels within the Strait of Hormuz. Nevertheless, the UAE has allegedly halted trade and financial transactions with Iran, until further notice.Analyst Comment: Prior to the war, Dubai was Tehran's gateway to the west, and served as a major hub for trade, but especially for banking. If the Emirs have indeed shut down Iran's access to financial markets, this will probably have more significant impact than it seems at first.Syria: Last night Israeli forces conducted airstrikes at Al Duhur Airbase, targeting the runway and several maintenance facilities at the airfield.Analyst Comment: This is a message to Turkey. Turkish forces have been at this airfield for a few months, trying to fix the airstrip enough for it to open once again, which would in turn allow for the recreation of the Syrian Air Force, but also another place for Turkish forces to run operations out of. The Israelis striking this runway is probably an effort to put the Syrians back in their box, and also inflame tensions with the Turks even more, to prevent their expansion into Israel's back yard.-HomeFront-USA: Around the nation, the energy crisis continues to worsen as gas prices climb steadily higher. This morning, the national average for diesel rose to over $5.50, as reflected by the current global diesel shortage. This afternoon bond yields dropped after the Treasury Department announced that the US will be doubling the repurchases of debt.Washington D.C. - Yesterday President Trump stated that no diplomatic efforts with Iran are taking place, sharply reversing the months of prior rhetoric that the White House has become legendary for. Up until this statement, the official stance has been that indirect talks are occurring, and that Iran frequently calls the White House "wanting to make a deal". Yesterday's statement by President Trump is a very sharp reversal regarding the diplomatic efforts in the region.Virginia: Yesterday local authorities revealed that a Tajik man fled the United States last month following his detention in a mental facility. In 2019, Abdulloi Toshpulodzoda stabbed his landlord to death, but was found not guilty by reason of insanity in 2022. He was sentenced to detention in a mental facility, before being deemed to be a candidate for early release last year. While serving his sentence, he was allowed by the prosecution to visit the Tajik Embassy in Washington D.C. where he was allowed to obtain a passport for his home country of Tajikistan. He was also allowed to have prison vacation time, when he could have two-day vacations outside the detention facility. During one of these vacation slots on July 6th, Toshpulodzoda used his passport to flee the United States.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: In Utah, overnight more details have come to light regarding Monday's funeral shooting. The lead suspect at the moment is Afuhia Masiu Manatau, who pulled out a gun and attempted to kill an unidentified person at the funeral. At some point during the shootout, his son Tusi took his father's gun and continued to shoot at members of the Angilau family.Concerning the alleged victims, a correction to yesterday's report is needed as the fatality in this case is not the same person who was previously convicted of murder. The victim was Vilisoni Angilau (aged 18), and Vilisoni Angilau (aged 33) was previously convicted of crimes related to gang affiliation. Same exact name, same exact area, same exact family, same exact affiliation with the Ward, but different people. Turns out, the 18-year-old who was killed yesterday is also affiliated with the Tongan Crips, as evidenced by confirmed gang members and shotcallers mourning his death on Facebook. Local Tongans are claiming the victim is not affiliated with the gang, but social media posts indicate this is not true. The reason for why this matters is due to the elevated potential for a gang war to kick off, if it hasn't done so already. Clearly local police thought the same at the time, as they rolled way harder than they needed to in order to protect the hospital. Gang violence is very likely to continue to escalate within Utah over the next few weeks, and this is going to affect more people than just those in the gang. When the only Level 1 Trauma Center for hundreds of miles is locked down because hordes of Tongan Crips are trying to break down the doors after a gang shooting, this becomes more of a substantial concern than just some random gang war. Even in the legendary gang epicenters around the country, local hospitals don't have to worry about literally being overrun as if they were a forward-deployed military base in a foreign land. But in Salt Lake City, this is now a genuine concern that is all brought about by a demographic that comprises less than one percent of the population.Analyst: S2A1 Research: https://publish.obsidian.md/s2underground NomadNet: 5fa68c88be727a0e1a250a75e5e79269 Disclaimer: No LLMs were used in the writing of this report. //END REPORT//
