A pair of brilliant intelligence analysts working for the DIA circa 2006-2007 came up with an idea to design the largest, most audacious, and most secretive UFO program ever funded by the US government. It was dubbed AAWSAP, and the public never knew it existed until 7 years after it ended. In its 27-month existence, it created the world's largest UFO data warehouse, a stack of more than 100 thick, highly detailed reports filled with hard data about UFO cases and incidents, as well as rigorous, original investigations into connections between UFO incidents and paranormal phenomena. The two instigators of AAWSAP came to believe that paranormal events were not a subset of UFO cases, but rather, the opposite. UFOs were - and are - a small slice under a larger paranormal umbrella, according to nuclear engineer, rocket scientist, and DIA analyst Dr. James Lacatski, who was appointed director of AAWSAP and who continued to rely on his fellow innovator, Jay Stratton, who later became head of the UAP Task Force. In this sometimes-tense conversation, Dr. Lacatski reveals that, as far as he knows, no one in government knows the full story about UFOs or where they originate, or what intelligence is behind them. Lacatski has just released "Future Visions," his fourth book culled from the unreleased files of AAWSAP. He doubts that the actual files will ever be released, and that his books constitute the closest thing to full disclosure the public might ever get. Lacatski says there is no way another AAWSAP will ever be approved, but hints that a smaller, more focused effort related to the proposed Kona Blue program did carry on after AAWSAP ended. Like the previous books, Future Visions is jammed with startling incidents, hard data from UAP encounters, and inexplicable, bone-chilling encounters with bizarre phenomena at Skinwalker Ranch and other similar locations. "The government doesn't know much more [than the general public]," Dr. Lacatski declares. "There are people that think they know more, but they don't. That this is wide open." *Check out Dr. Lacatski's new book, Inside the U.S. Government Covert UFO Program: Future Visions https://a.co/d/0dvJApZ3 •••
Most of us know choreography affects our dancers scores, but few of us dance parents understand the how and why. Today we brought on Pulse Dance Studio owner, dancer, choreographer, and competition Judge, Jennifer Olsen, to help explain to us the relationship between choreography and your dancer's scores! ABOUT JENNIFER: Jennifer started studying dance at the age of 3 in Pennsylvania. She has been extensively trained and is proficient in many forms of dance including tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, musical theatre and ballroom. Her first taste of love for live theatre was her junior year of high school where she performed at The Fulton Opera House in Lancaster, PA. After high school Jennifer started traveling as a spokesmodel for Infiniti Automotive Company for 9 years as well as was a on air guest on QVC. After traveling she brought her love of dance and the arts back home where she opened her own studio in 2008. She has nurtured and grown her studio for the past 18 years helping her students to be successful dancers and aide them in achieving their goals. It has always filled her heart to watch her dancers grow as dancers and as humans. She has always taught them that to win many awards, accolades, and scholarships along the way is icing on the cake, but they don't define you. Jennifer has also won many choreography awards from various dance competitions around the east coast. Most recently she has choreographed Jesus Christ Superstar for Millersville University and has traveled as far as St. Croix, to give master classes to students of all ages and abilities. Her performing credits include West Side Story, Hello Dolly, Catch Me If You Can, Holiday Treasures, and Future Vision. Her most prized accomplishment is working with her students inside her studio. Jennifer feels to build relationships both on and off the dance floor is the most rewarding thing as a teacher and studio owner. To know that dancers you work with will carry a piece of you with them is her biggest award ever given. Bob Dittmar has big goals for the Virani Undergraduate School of Business. Dittmar came to Rice in 2022 after teaching for nearly 20 years at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business. He's taught finance courses across Rice Business' degree programs, including in the undergraduate and MBA programs. On this episode, Dittmar joins co-host Maya Pomroy '22 to share what sets the Virani Undergraduate School of Business apart from other undergraduate business programs — and his advice for prospective students who are trying to decide if Rice Business is the right fit for them. He also delves into his fascinating research on options and how to assess risk more clearly, especially when the signals aren't obvious.Episode Guide:00:00 Introduction to Associate Dean Bob Dittmar01:59 Early Influences and Academic Journey03:11 Discovering a Passion for Finance04:59 College Years and Mentorship08:55 Research on Options and Market Psychology16:05 Role as Associate Dean for the Virani Undergraduate School of Business18:05 Teaching Finance and Real-World Applications23:02 The Psychology of Investment Decisions25:54 Understanding Risk and Uncertainty29:35 AI's Role in Education and Work33:31 The Unique Culture of Rice University37:17 Future Vision for the Virani Undergraduate School of BusinessThe Owl Have You Know Podcast is a production of Rice Business and is produced by University FM.Episode Quotes:Taking the Rice beyond Houston38:03: My goal at Virani is really largely to try to expand Rice's national footprint to some extent. So I think, you know, if you grew up in Houston, you know a lot about Rice, and you know, Rice is a great institution. Rice is a great institution and really hard to get into. Yeah, absolutely. You know, I mean, look, you know, our median student is, you know, in the right tail, basically, of most students across the country. But look, when I was growing up in Chicago, Rice really was not on my radar. There were a few liberal arts schools in the Midwest that I kind of thought about, but Rice never kind of came up. But I do think that Rice needs a little bit more visibility on the coasts. And that is especially important in business and finance in particular, where New York is so much the center of activity. How do you know if Rice is for you?41:01: If you want to be at a place that is truly collaborative, that has a rigorous education and provides opportunity and really cares about its students, then I think Rice is the right place for you. Think about Rice as a whole institution and how you feel on campus, and compare that to how you feel on the campuses of these other universities. And again, this is a little weird to say, because I am a finance guy. I am supposed to be cold and rational about all these things, but how you feel about these kinds of things, I think, is usually a pretty good indication of what actually is right for you and what is going to suit you.Why Rice is a special place to get your business degree34:29: At the business school at Rice, you get a lot of what I think makes Rice as an institution special. Which, you know, our students are a little quirkier maybe, but they are also a little nicer and less, you know, maybe not quite so cutthroat, I guess, maybe is what I would some ways, much more collaborative. And so I think that, combined with the fact that Rice has this STEM focus that it always has, so it is grounded in a really rigorous way of, kind of, approaching things, really combines together to make this a very special place to get your business degree.Show Links: TranscriptGuest Profile:Robert Dittmar | Rice BusinessProfessional WebsiteLinkedIn Profile

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to talk to the new Master of Palm Springs Lodge No.693 and aske him what his goals are for this year?We talked a little more about other things around the topic but he never went through or enumerated a list. A few weeks later I again reached out to him and followed up on his goals and his vision for Palm Springs Lodge No.693.He quickly responded and here are his 8 goals he wishes to work throughout the year. When the year starts and you have your first stated meeting, the realities of lodge life begin to sink in on all involved. The eight areas of lodge life should be an eye opener for any aspiring lodge leader because you now see all these different areas you had not probably thought about. Lets go over his list.Write to me atMasonicmuscle357@gmail.com
For the final installment of our LawNext on Location series, Bob heads across the bay, from San Francisco to Oakland, to the headquarters of e-discovery company Everlaw, where he sits down with founder and CEO AJ Shankar for a conversation about technology, AI and being in it for the long game. AJ grew up in Connecticut, came west in 2002 for a computer science PhD at UC Berkeley, and has lived within a few blocks of the Berkeley campus ever since. He stumbled into the legal industry almost by accident — recruited to serve as a technical expert in litigation involving how the internet worked — and quickly realized that the legal world was home to some of the most technically fascinating and underserved problems he'd ever encountered. He never left. AJ had a prior startup, a computer vision company that was acquired, before launching Everlaw in 2011. The company was cloud-native and ML-infused from the start, built on the conviction, AJ says, that there's no single way to find the needle in a discovery haystack, and that building a genuinely useful litigation platform requires solving for collaboration, ease of use and scalability all at once. The bulk of the conversation focuses on generative AI, and how Everlaw has approached it differently than much of the market. Rather than bolting on a chatbot, AJ says, Everlaw embedded AI deliberately throughout the platform — document summarization, coding suggestions, deposition analysis, fact extraction — always grounding responses in the actual documents at hand and citing sources so users can verify the work. The December launch of Deep Dive, which lets litigators pose a question and get a synthesized, cited answer drawn from an entire document corpus in about a minute, is the feature AJ calls a "new era" for discovery — one he genuinely believes represents a categorical shift. As Everlaw continues to grow, it also remains independent, with no private equity and no outside majority owners. As for AJ, he says he is in it for the long game, and has never included an exit slide in a fundraising deck. What if the greatest barrier to kingdom collaboration isn't theology—but ego? In this episode, we sit down with leaders from GACX (Global Alliance for Church Multiplication) to explore a radically different vision of partnership—one that doesn't begin with “what do I gain?” but with “what can I give?” From global church planting networks to theological education, we wrestle with a provocative idea: real collaboration may require us not just to win—but to lose. And in that loss, discover how the kingdom actually advances. Keywords: Church multiplication, GACX, Global mission networks, Missiology, Kingdom collaboration, Partnership theology, Church planting movements, Theological education, Missional leadership, Younger leaders in mission, Organizational discipleship, Collaboration vs competition, Unreached people groups, Microchurch / movement ecclesiology, Competency-based theological education. Sound Bites “Partnership is not pragmatic—it's theological.” “If I come to the table to lose… and you come to lose… then the kingdom wins.” “The first question is not how you benefit—but how others benefit from you.” “Collaboration is part of the DNA of the kingdom—the struggle is the ‘how.'” “What would it look like for an organization to have a cruciform strategy?” “We're not about our thing—we're about His thing.” “We don't just want multiplying churches—we want sustainable ones.” “Maybe the future isn't choosing between models—but building bridges between them.” Key Takeaways Partnership must be re-theologized The “lose-win” paradigm Collaboration requires structure, not just desire The power of collective action Organizational discipleship The emerging gap: movements vs. theological education The future is both/and Younger leaders need access Chapters (Based on transcript timing) 00:00 – Opening + PrayerSetting the tone: mission, Jesus, and kingdom focus 01:40 – Episode Intro + GuestsJoey Shaw & Valerie Hamilton (GACX) 04:00 – Humanizing the GuestsPoetry, basketball, third-culture identity 11:00 – What is GACX?Vision: a church for every 1,000 peopleCollaboration over duplication 13:00 – The Challenge of PartnershipWhy collaboration is hard in practice 15:00 – Rethinking PartnershipFrom “win-win” → “lose-win” 20:00 – A Case Study in Kingdom CollaborationReal-time resource sharing across organizations 24:00 – Personal Reflection on Ego & LeadershipThe hidden struggle behind collaboration 25:00 – Future Vision of GACXInitiative groups, global forums, younger leaders 29:00 – Organizational DiscipleshipCan institutions live cruciform lives? 32:00 – Biblical Framework (Deuteronomy)Giving without recognition 34:00 – Theological Education & MovementsBridging formal and informal systems 38:00 – The Future of SeminariesDecline, innovation, and new models 41:00 – Two-Loop Theory of ChangeBridging old and emerging systems 43:00 – Final Reflections + Call to Action Connect With Us Follow Ephesiology: Website | Twitter | Instagram | YouTube Follow Andrew Johnson @thediscfan.bsky.social If this episode encouraged you, please leave a review and share it with others exploring missional living in post-Christian contexts. In this winsome study, Ephesiology offers readers a comprehensive view of the empowering work of the Holy Spirit in the most significant city of the New Testament, and compels us to ask the question: how can we effectively connect Christ to our culture? “Masterfully handling the book of Ephesians and using its content as a definitive guide, Michael Cooper lays a theologically strong foundation that is both corrective and directive to disciple making movements. The principles he gleans from the book of Ephesians and related texts, help to ensure the on-going multiplication and maturation of a movement. [12:28] When the 17th ranked university in the country says, “I am interested in recruiting you to play high-level sports at the Group of Five,” which, by the way, we sit on an island in that, and I think we need to lean into this further... [13:09] We sit very isolated, but in this unique position where if you want high academics and you want to compete at the Group of Five, there's only one choice. That's a beautiful filter.Rice community stadium is more than just a football stadium17:30: It's not Rice Football Stadium, it is the Rice Community Stadium and football is going to be the primary tenant. But we need to expand the things that we do in it on a yearly basis... We should not look up in a given year and say, the only thing that happened there was our conference slate, a graduation. On making a year count29:17: I only have them for one year, how am I going to influence them the most in their entire life? Through the professors they meet. Because they will be introduced to that through the network of people that they get to meet in the alumni, in the external network.
