What if the best networking event you'll ever attend doesn't require a name tag, awkward small talk, or leaving your cozy home?In this episode, I'm sharing exactly why podcast guesting has become my go-to strategy for growing my business, increasing visibility, and building genuine connections. Unlike traditional networking or social media posts that disappear, podcast guesting creates authentic, long-lasting visibility — and it works even while you're offline.Inside, I break down:Why podcast interviews create deeper trust than a networking eventThe borrowed credibility that happens when a trusted host introduces you to their audienceHow one podcast guest spot can lead to clients, collaborations, and partnershipsThe power of evergreen episodes that continue bringing people to your businessWhy this method works especially well for introverts and busy entrepreneurs like meIf you've been overlooking guesting as a real networking strategy, this episode will shift your mindset — and give you a clear path forward.

I want to make sure we reinforce what we've learned over the last month. Also, go give Dan and his show some love. We've all been to one: loud music, people huddled in clicks, and little to no guidance from the host. I'm talking about poorly run networking events. The kind of events that spike the anxiety of us introverts and solo attendees. But nobody wants to throw a bad event. The host wants to make sure everyone is having a good time and leaves having made meaningful connections. The problem is that nobody taught us how to throw a great networking party. That was until Nick Gray wrote The 2-Hour Cocktail Party, a step-by-step handbook that teaches you how to build big relationships by hosting small gatherings.Nick is a firm believer that hosting these simple, lightweight gatherings will accelerate your network. And he's given us the playbook for how to do just that.In this conversation, we cover how to make sure people show up, 4 secrets for hosting a great event, and how to politely kick people out at the end of your party. Nick also gives me an answer for the perfect number of attendees and the best day of the week to host your networking party. And actually, since this recording, I've been to two cocktail parties that used Nick's book to host their event, and they have both been far superior to the typical networking events. But they weren't flashy events with paid bartenders, catering, and a DJ, no they were well-run events and a great use of my time. Radical Cooperation (ft. Anita Castille & Michael Kahane)The transformative power of deep trust and collaborationGUEST BIOS:Anita Castille:Vice President of Human Resources for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, responsible for both domestic and global regions.Learn more about Anita: https://www.linkedin.com/in/anita-castille-b26b9b1/Michael Kahane:Southern Bureau Chief for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, overseeing operations in the AHF's largest bureau— incorporating the southern United States, Caribbean, and Latin America.Learn more about Michael: https://www.aidshealth.org/about/leadership/CORE TOPICS + DETAILS:[6:25] -- Radical CooperationWhere teamwork meets trustEveryone has heard of cooperation. But radical cooperation takes cooperation to another level because it incorporates real trust. Where trust is, cooperation becomes more efficient, more seamless, and less problematic— because you know that when there's a problem, the people in your organization have your back, no matter how large or widespread the organization may be.[8:11] -- Building Trust Over TimeWhy radical cooperation is a process, not an eventThe trust that allows for maximum efficiency and effectiveness in an organization isn't a matter of making a decision— it's a continual commitment to grow relationships, build trust, and depend on one another in ways that can sometimes take us outside of our comfort zones. But while there is no endpoint, there is an ongoing promise of growth and exponential success.[11:54] -- Shared Goals: The Foundations of TrustEven when we disagree, a shared mission unites usHow do you build trust and cooperation? By developing a true belief that the people in your organization have the same end goal as you— to make your organization a success. When you can get to this place mentally, you can see any decision or opinion you disagree with through the prism of a difference of methodology, not ideology. Instead of thinking, ‘This person is trying to ruin this project,' you start with, ‘This person wants the same thing I do, even though we disagree on the path to get there.'[18:30] -- Tell the Whole Story‘Trust' and ‘Truth' have shared rootsAnita shares the importance of telling both sides of a story when sharing your thoughts with a superior or team member. Be transparent, and you'll ultimately be rewarded with the trust of everyone around you— your superiors, your employees, and your partners at every stage of the journey.[28:21] -- Find Joy in Your MissionAdvice for prospective hires anywhereA job is a job, but it can also be more than that. When you're able to find true joy in the mission of the organization you call your career, you'll be more fulfilled, more effective, and more willing to go the extra mile to generate successful outcomes.RESOURCES:AIDS Healthcare Foundation WebsiteFOLLOW:Follow Anita: https://www.linkedin.com/in/anita-castille-b26b9b1/Follow Michael: https://www.aidshealth.org/about/leadership/Follow Lauren: https://www.linkedin.com/in/laurenhogan3Follow AHFter Hours on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ahfterhours/ABOUT AHFTER HOURS:The AIDS Healthcare Foundation is the world's largest HIV/AIDS service organization, operating in 45 countries globally. The experience that they have in between those two points and even beyond carries an impact across the company. Hello, Hello! In this episode, Chris and Nick talk with documentary filmmakers John Kirby and Libby Handros. They discuss their 25-year partnership and their upcoming documentary film cycle "Four Died Trying," which explores the major assassinations of the 1960s. The conversation covers topics such as state involvement in these assassinations, the lack of transparency around the investigations, and the importance of understanding history and promoting positive social change.Show Notes:John Kirby and Libby Handros discuss their 25-year partnership in documentary filmmaking, including their work on the festival favorite "The American Ruling Class" and their current project, "Four Died Trying."The guests share details about their interviews with over 130 people, including Bob Groden and the late Dick Gregory, for their "Four Died Trying" documentary series, which explores the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr.The group discusses the lack of transparency and documentation around the JFK and RFK assassinations, in contrast to the civil trials and FBI documents that have emerged for the Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. assassinations. They explore the international implications of Malcolm X's work and the Kennedys' connections to Africa, as well as the role of the Warren Commission and Operation Gladio in obscuring the truth about these events. The conversation touches on the challenges of researching and discussing conspiracy theories, the importance of critical thinking and independent research, and the preference for conflict-driven narratives in documentaries. The guests share their insights on the power of nonviolent resistance, the legacy of Dick Gregory, and the need for more positive and uplifting stories in filmmaking. We also talk about:The attempted assassination of Donald Trump and the timing of the release of a documentary about the eventThe importance of the Warren Commission and its handling of the JFK assassination investigationThe concept of "patsies" in high-profile assassinations, such as Sirhan Sirhan in the RFK case and James Earl Ray in the MLK caseThe lack of a Truth and Reconciliation committee to address the assassinations of the 1960sThe influence of the military-industrial complex and big oil interests on the presidency, particularly in the case of Lyndon B. JohnsonBodega Artist of the WeekAmy Jay - JokeNew York based singer/songwriter Amy Jay harnesses the power of vulnerability and introspection with euphonious indie-folk music that captures the afflictions of humanity and explores the depths of emotionality. “Joke” asks if life is just one big joke when things don't go as planned or when crazy events happen in the world. While its lyrics are moody, they are tinged with hope that there might be an explanation. The drums establish a pounding rhythm from the opening notes, giving the song an urgent, restless feel. The insistent beat seems to represent the endless march of days where nothing makes sense. The guitar melody echoes the anxiety expressed throughout.InstagramTikTokWe are humbled to have a community of creatives who care deeply about our work. And your support makes our work possible.
