Mark Carpenter is a keynote speaker, leadership coach, and bestselling author dedicated to reshaping business leadership with a human-first approach. With experience across multiple industries, Mark helps organizations improve productivity, engagement, and commitment by fostering authentic connections. He is the author of Lead Like a Person, Not a Position and co-author of Master Storytelling: How to Turn Your Stories Into Experiences that Teach, Lead, and Inspire. Mark's work blends heart and strategy, equipping leaders to move beyond titles and authority to build trust, unlock commitment, and create cultures where people truly thrive.SHOW SUMMARYIn this episode of the Selling from the Heart Podcast, Larry Levine and Darrell Amy are joined by Mark Carpenter to explore what it truly means to lead and sell like a person, not a position. Mark challenges traditional leadership models that rely on authority and hierarchy, emphasizing instead the power of authenticity, presence, and intentional connection.Drawing from his bestselling book, Mark outlines three essential leadership skills—listening intently, communicating intentionally, and recognizing individuals, that directly impact trust, performance, and engagement. The conversation also addresses why top-performing salespeople often struggle when promoted into leadership roles without people-skills training and why mentorship is critical for developing effective leaders. This episode offers practical, human-centered guidance for anyone looking to lead and sell from the heart.KEY TAKEAWAYSLeadership and sales success begin with human connection—not titles or authority.Lead and sell as a person first; positions don't build trust, people do.The three core leadership skills: listening intently, communicating intentionally, and recognizing individuals. Many leaders fail because they receive position training but not people-skills training.Being a great salesperson does not automatically translate into being a great leader.Recognition is just as important as correction, and often overlooked.Listening requires discipline and presence in a fast-thinking world.Mentorship accelerates leadership readiness and long-term effectiveness.HIGHLIGHT QUOTESWe do not rise to the level of our expectations. We fall to the level of our training.People can speak at about 125 words per minute, listen at 400, and think at 900, presence is work. What's the best thing about your work? The people. What's the worst thing? The people.People are messy… and there's joy in the messiness too.

In this powerful episode of Prophetic Spiritual Warfare, Kathy DeGraw exposes how the brain forms habit loops, how rumination fuels anxiety, and how mind-binding spirits exploit unhealed trauma and repeated thought patterns. Viewing mental battles through both a scientific and biblical lens brings clarity and hope for true freedom. Kathy explains how unresolved emotions, forgiveness issues, and trauma memories create mental strongholds that keep the brain locked in fight-or-flight mode. Over time, these natural patterns can open the door to spiritual oppression, intensifying anxiety and torment. This episode equips you with practical tools to break those cycles, including prayer declarations, journaling, worship, breathing techniques, and the biblical use of anointing oil. You will learn how to identify recurring anxious thoughts, interrupt destructive mental loops, and replace them with truth from the Word of God. Kathy shares proven strategies to renew your mind, bind and restrict mind-binding spirits, and partner with the Holy Spirit for lasting peace. 416 From Blackout Drinking to Divine Alignment: Paula Robbins' Recovery Story

There's a point in many recovery journeys where insight stops being the problem. You know what to do. You understand your patterns. And yet… change still feels hard. In this episode, I talk with Paula Robbins, author of Hitchhiking Into Recovery, who has over 37 years of sobriety, about why that happens—and what actually sustains healing over the long haul.     The Ride That Opened the Door Paula's recovery didn't begin with a dramatic intervention. It began when she was picked up hitchhiking in 1988 by someone living a sober, connected life. That single interaction mattered because it interrupted isolation. Not with willpower. With connection.     Addiction Is a Disconnection Problem Paula grew up with trauma, neglect, and instability. Alcohol became a way to shut down overwhelming emotions long before she had language for what was happening. By age 12, she was drinking to blackout. What stands out isn't just the trauma—it's what was missing: Safety Emotional guidance Consistent connection Addiction wasn't a moral failure. It was a survival strategy.     Feelings Aren't Facts One of Paula's most grounding principles is simple: Feelings and facts are not the same. Recovery didn't eliminate difficult emotions—it created space to respond instead of react. That pause is where real change happens.     The Four Pillars That Sustain Recovery After decades of sobriety, Paula distilled what actually works into four stabilizing forces: Community – healing happens in relationship Mentorship – someone to help you see clearly Service – contribution rebuilds self-esteem Daily spiritual alignment – prayer, meditation, or quiet time These pillars show up in every effective recovery model because they address the root issue: disconnection.     Divine Alignment vs. Self-Will Paula explains divine alignment not as certainty, but as a felt sense. When she's controlling outcomes, she feels restless and tight. When she surrenders—even briefly—things soften. Sometimes all it takes is the simple phrase: "Thy will be done."     A Gentle Reminder If change feels hard, it doesn't mean you're failing. It may simply mean effort isn't the missing piece—connection is.     One Small Action Try just one: Strengthen one pillar that feels weak Take a 5-minute daily pause Offer one small act of service Notice a feeling without acting on it Healing doesn't require fixing yourself. It starts with not doing it alone.     Resources Mentioned Hitchhiking Into Recovery 12-Step Recovery Programs Step 3 Prayer Step 11: Prayer and Meditation Service work in recovery Guest Contact Info:

In this episode of The Steward Chair, Maria Thacker Goethe, President and CEO of Georgia Life Sciences, shares her journey of transitioning from a dedicated "number two" to leading a massive ecosystem through a global pandemic. We explore how a commitment to mission and the guidance of mentors drives meaningful, long-term success even when the original plan is upended. We discuss the critical role of a connector in the life sciences sector, the importance of "work-life harmony" over balance, and why true stewardship means preparing the next generation to lead. This conversation provides actionable takeaways for leaders committed to stewardship, integrity, and impact. Key Takeaways Purpose Over Tactics: In times of crisis, your "North Star" must be your organizational purpose, allowing your tactics to remain nimble and adaptive. The Responsibility of Mentorship: Leadership is a societal responsibility; investing time in the next generation is essential because no leader is "here forever". Embracing "Ready Enough": You don’t have to feel fully ready to step into a leadership seat; surrounding yourself with a community that believes in you is the key to moving forward through fear. What does it actually mean to be wild in the modern world—and why does it matter so much for our health, identity, and sense of belonging? In this episode, I explore those questions and more with Daniel Vitalis, host of the TV series WildFed and a lifelong advocate for reconnecting with nature through food, place, and embodied experience. We dive deep into what wildness really is—not as a romantic ideal, but as a lived, practical relationship with the natural world. Daniel shares how wild foods offer more than just nutrition; they provide feedback, resilience, and a kind of intelligence that modern systems have largely stripped away. We talk about how convenience culture has distanced us from our instincts, our land base, and even our own hunger cues, and why reclaiming these relationships is essential for both personal and ecological health. This conversation also weaves through nervous system regulation, ancestral skills, and the quiet confidence that comes from direct experience—whether that's foraging, hunting, or simply learning to trust your own perception again. Daniel reflects on the responsibility that comes with sourcing food from the wild, the ethics of reciprocity, and how participation in nature changes the way we see ourselves as humans. If you've felt a pull toward something more grounded, more honest, and more alive—this episode is an invitation to listen to that signal. It's a reminder that wildness isn't something we've lost; it's something we can remember, one relationship at a time.Visit lukestorey.com/surthrival and use code LUKE to save 10%.DISCLAIMER: This podcast is for educational purposes only and not intended for diagnosing or treating illnesses. The answer is yes—both spiritually and scientifically. In this powerful teaching, Kathy DeGraw explains how fear, stress, anxiety, and worry release harmful chemicals such as cortisol that weaken the immune system, increase inflammation, and contribute to sickness and disease. At the same time, faith, gratitude, worship, and trust in God activate peace-filled chemicals like dopamine and serotonin that promote healing, restoration, and physical well-being. This episode reveals the connection between emotional health, spiritual warfare, and physical healing. Fear and faith release opposite chemical responses in the body, and repeated negative emotions can quietly sabotage health over time. Kathy shares biblical truth, neuroscience insights, and practical strategies to help you take authority over your thought life and emotions so your body can function the way God designed it to. You will learn how worship and gratitude calm the nervous system, how faith invites divine healing, and how renewing your mind aligns your body with God's promises. If you are battling anxiety, chronic stress, or physical illness, this teaching will empower you to shift from fear-based living into faith-filled freedom. SUMMARY OF THE TAMMECA ROCHESTER INTERVIEW From “Money Making Conversations Master Class” with Rushion McDonald 1. Purpose of the Interview The interview was designed to: Spotlight Tammeca Rochester, founder and CEO of Harlem Cycle, and her journey from engineering and corporate marketing into entrepreneurship. Highlight the importance of holistic wellness, community‑based fitness, and representation within the fitness industry. Inspire entrepreneurs—especially Black women—to pursue business ownership, develop strong business plans, and stay committed to their vision despite barriers. Overall, the interview serves as both a success story and a lesson in entrepreneurship, community impact, and personal transformation. 2. Summary of Key Themes A. Re‑Defining Herself Through Education & Career Changes Tammeca explains why she pursued multiple degrees—from Spelman and Georgia Tech to NYU Stern—and how each phase of her life motivated a new direction. She began in engineering, shifted to business, and ultimately found her passion in wellness. B. The Birth of Harlem Cycle Launched out of personal stress relief and a desire for culturally inclusive fitness spaces. Indoor cycling reminded her of joyful childhood bike rides in Atlanta. She wanted a wellness space where Black people felt seen, represented, and culturally connected—something missing from other cycling studios she attended. C. Building a Community-Centered Fitness Brand Harlem Cycle blends movement, music, and culture, playing the genres she grew up with—reggae, soca, hip‑hop—and fostering a socially connected environment. She stresses that fitness isn’t just physical but also emotional and mental health. D. Entrepreneurship: The Real Story Tammeca self‑financed her business after being denied a bank loan. She built her studio while still working full‑time and caring for a young child. Her first year was grueling—waking up at 5:30am and working until after 9pm daily. She emphasizes the importance of writing a business plan, using realistic projections, and staying true to your vision. E. Mentorship, Representation, and Industry Impact Over 60% of her team began as Harlem Cycle clients she later trained to become instructors. She aims to shift the fitness industry to include more diverse voices and accessible community wellness options. She plans for expansion, opening a third Harlem Cycle location in Newark to serve another community with limited wellness options. 3. Key Takeaways 1. You can redefine yourself at any point in life. “We can always redefine ourselves at any moment in life.” 2. Wellness must address the whole person. “Fitness is not just physical… it’s emotional and mental well‑being.” 3. Create community spaces where people feel represented. Tammeca built Harlem Cycle because she felt isolated in other fitness spaces as the only person of color. She wanted a studio rooted in Black culture and community. 4. Entrepreneurship requires discipline, planning, and sacrifice. “Write out your plan… and stay true to your plan.” “Just because you build it doesn’t mean they’ll come.” 5. Community impact drives her business model. Harlem Cycle isn’t just a workout studio—it's a culturally rooted community center focused on mental, emotional, and physical health. 6. Representation & mentorship matter. “60% of my team started as clients that we trained.” 4. Memorable Quotes Here are the strongest, most quotable lines from Tammeca: On Reinvention “Each time has been a moment in life where I evolved because of a goal I personally wanted.” On Holistic Fitness “Fitness to me is all about how we take care of our bodies—not just our physical body, but our emotional well‑being, our mental well‑being.” On Creating Harlem Cycle “I didn’t want to be the only person of color in the room—again. I wanted a place where my community could be seen.” On Entrepreneurship “Just because you build it doesn’t mean they’ll come… back down those numbers by 90%.” On Community Impact “We’re changing the fitness industry… starting here in Harlem by training our clients to be part of the wellness industry.” On Cultural Integrity “We don’t care about competition here—it’s about community.” #SHMS #STRAW #BESTSupport the show: https://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What began as a job delivering cases quickly turned into a full-blown passion once she stepped inside the lab and saw what technicians were creating. From trimming dies and waxing copings to managing labs, supporting implant surgeries, teaching doctors chairside, and leading removable and implant teams, Helen shares a journey built on curiosity, persistence, and a deep drive to understand the why behind everything in dental technology. Helen talks about working her way through crown and bridge fundamentals before discovering her true passion in removables, dentures, implants, and occlusion. After getting real-world lab experience, she attended dental technology school, studied all six specialties, and continued expanding her knowledge through advanced occlusion training and continuing education. She explains why understanding morphology, materials, and occlusal principles is critical — especially today — and why technicians must know more than just the steps of fabrication. For Helen, dentures and implant prosthetics offer the ultimate puzzle, combining anatomy, function, and problem-solving in ways that keep her constantly engaged. The conversation dives deep into digital dentistry, guided surgery, and removable workflows, with Helen sharing her early experiences launching digital denture and sleep appliance programs long before the workflows were polished. She discusses digital record capture, stackable surgical guides, implant planning, photogrammetry, and where digital still needs improvement — especially for removable prosthetics. While she embraces technology, she stresses that software is only as good as the technician behind it, and that skipping fundamentals creates bigger problems later. Digital is powerful, but it doesn't replace understanding. Education is a major theme throughout the episode. Helen regularly teaches doctors and technicians, speaks at courses, supports live implant conversions, and works with dental students. She emphasizes that many clinicians today lack confidence in dentures and removable workflows, often because fundamentals are under-taught, and she sees technicians as essential partners in closing that gap. She and the hosts discuss how removable cases are frequently rushed, underpaid, and misunderstood — even though they replace a critical body function — and why slowing down, capturing correct records, and returning to basics solves many of the “mystery” failures labs see every day. Helen also shares stories from her time with large organizations and clinical teams, including MicroDental, ClearChoice, Arklign, and implant education centers, where she has worked in technical service, management, training, and quality oversight roles. She talks about networking, mentoring, never burning bridges, and investing in people coming up in the industry. Her approach to both dentistry and life centers around curiosity and accountability — always asking why, always backing decisions with data, and always trying to do the right thing even when no one is looking. Throughout the episode, the energy stays fun and honest, with stories about speeding delivery runs, early digital growing pains, chairside save-the-case moments, and the reality of fixing cases that skipped key steps. Helen brings passion, technical depth, and a strong belief that knowledge should be shared, not guarded. It's a conversation about growth, fundamentals, digital evolution, and why great technicians still matter more than ever. Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Kaela.Kaela is a mama of one from Australia. In today's episode she shares about her empowering and natural home birth that turned into a hospital transfer as she had a 3rd degree tear. Hospital transfers and tears are the 2 biggest fears amongst pregnant mamas and especially you who listen to this podcast. So what better way of facing those fears than by listening to a mama who had, according to herself, the most empowering birth even though she had both one of the bigger tears that only around 5% of women get and a hospital transfer from her home birth.People usually assume I think a natural birth through and through is the be all and end all because I am a huge advocate about educating about natural physiological birth and the benefits of it. But if you've listened to me for any length of time you know this is not true, and if you're a student or mentee of mine you know it even deeper.I'm all for education in pregnancy and optimizing body, mind and soul for your desired birth outcome which I believe mostly have to do with inner work, facing fears and deeply getting to know your body, baby and having a relationship with your intuition.Once the first contraction hits you are now to surrender to the great mystery of birth. And a positive birth experience is not necessarily a natural one. Not holding on to a certain outcome for your happiness is so important and trusting that there is wisdom in the way you birth even if it's not the way you wanted it. We can learn so much about ourselves, our babies, our deep hidden patterns and allow birth to awaken us, transform us and enlighten us instead of feeling like failures if it didn't end up being exactly as we wished.I love that Kaela only have positive proud feelings around her home birth where some might have felt the opposite having had a 3rd degree tear and transfer.I hope her story and how she navigated her tear and transfer is inspiring to you and also might release some fear around these two occurring in your birth.Want to work with Anna or join The Sacred Birth Worker Mentorship?Find Anna's Website, about her Mentorship & How to Work with Her, as well as all Links & Resources she mentions in the episode here:www.sacredbirthinternational.com/links-podcast

In this powerful episode of Prophetic Spiritual Warfare, Kathy DeGraw teaches why deliverance is not a quick fix and why personal responsibility is essential for lasting freedom. Even after demons are cast out, the battle continues in the thought life through inner healing, breaking agreements, and replacing lies with God's truth. Drawing from decades of deliverance ministry and thousands of one-on-one sessions, Kathy exposes how demonic spirits target thought patterns to bring torment, discouragement, and deception. She explains how mental strongholds form, how to close demonic access, and how believers must actively partner with the Holy Spirit to maintain spiritual freedom. This teaching unpacks practical steps such as breaking agreement with lies, renewing the mind through Scripture, changing behavior patterns, and cultivating a lifestyle of worship and faith. Kathy also shares how mind battles can impact families, relationships, and future generations if left unaddressed. Freedom is not just about casting out demons; it is about transformation, healing trauma, and walking daily in the mind of Christ. Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Dr. Jacque Rushin and Robyn Donaldson. Below is a polished, thorough summary of the interview featuring Jacque Rushin and Robyn Donaldson discussing the career and legacy of Dr. Gladys West with Rushion McDonald—along with its purpose, key takeaways, and notable quotes, all drawn directly from the transcript.(Citations reference the uploaded file.) Summary of the Interview On Money Making Conversations Masterclass, Rushion McDonald welcomes Dr. Jacque Rushin (award‑winning business executive, educator, mental health professional, humanitarian) and Robyn Donaldson (2025 Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award honoree for global STEM education) to discuss their celebration of Dr. Gladys B. West, a pioneering mathematician whose work laid the foundation for the GPS (Global Positioning System). The conversation explores the intersection of Juneteenth, Black excellence, STEM education, and Dr. West’s life story, captured in her memoir It Began with a Dream. The guests highlight Dr. West as one of America’s last living “hidden figures”—a brilliant yet historically overlooked Black woman whose mathematical genius revolutionized everyday life. They detail how Dr. West rose from sharecropper roots, excelled academically at Virginia State University, earned her master’s and PhD, spent 39 years contributing to government research, and ultimately developed the algorithms and modeling processes that power GPS. They also describe their collaborative effort to create the Westward Bound Program, a life‑skills and STEM‑focused curriculum inspired by Dr. West’s principles of wisdom, endurance, strategy, and precision. Through humorous, emotional, and deeply insightful dialogue, the episode uplifts Dr. West’s accomplishments while discussing mental health, technology dependence, the importance of exposure to STEM pathways for underserved youth, and how the legacy of Black innovators must remain central in cultural celebrations like Juneteenth. Purpose of the Interview 1. To honor and amplify Dr. Gladys West’s legacy She is a living mathematical pioneer whose GPS contributions transformed global navigation and modern technology. 2. To connect her story to Juneteenth’s spirit of liberation and recognition The guests highlight the “delayed recognition” of Black innovators and the importance of acknowledging hidden figures whose brilliance shaped society. 3. To promote STEM exposure in underserved communities Robyn Donaldson emphasizes equitable access to STEM opportunities so children can compete in a global, tech‑driven world. 4. To introduce and promote the Westward Bound Program The curriculum teaches STEM principles, life skills, and personal development inspired by Dr. West’s methodologies. 5. To highlight themes of resilience, humility, and lifelong learning Dr. West’s quiet determination and academic persistence serve as a blueprint for young people and adults alike. Key Takeaways 1. Dr. Gladys West is a “living hidden figure.” Her research and mathematical modeling are the backbone of GPS, impacting navigation, transportation, military systems, and everyday digital tools. 2. Her journey exemplifies brilliance shaped by humility and hard work. Born in 1930 to sharecropper parents, she excelled academically despite segregation, pursued multiple degrees, and overcame racial and gender barriers in government research settings. 3. Juneteenth is the perfect backdrop for honoring Dr. West. Jacque stresses that Juneteenth represents “delayed freedom,” paralleling the delayed recognition of Black inventors and innovators. 4. STEM exposure is vital to equity. Robyn insists that Black children are fully capable of STEM success—they simply lack exposure, not aptitude. Without STEM skills, young people risk being left behind in a robotics‑driven economy. 5. Technology should complement—not replace—human thinking. Jacque cites Dr. West’s personal preference for physical maps over GPS to maintain cognitive sharpness and critical thinking, a warning about over‑dependence on AI and automation. 6. The Westward Bound Program bridges STEM, life skills, and personal development. Built on the acronym “WEST”—Wisdom, Endurance, Strategy, Tracking—the program supports youth, adults, and entrepreneurs seeking direction and resilience. 7. Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Brett Chestnut. Summary of the Interview On Money Making Conversations Masterclass, host Rushion McDonald interviews Brett Chestnut, Managing Director of Northwestern Mutual Goodwin, Wright Gwinnett. The conversation centers on Brett’s mission as a financial leader, his journey from engineering to financial planning, his commitment to mentoring, and his focus on expanding diversity in the financial services industry. Brett describes how he transitioned from engineering in 2015 to financial planning because he wanted to help people regain the ability to dream—not just survive. He discusses his work in recruiting diverse advisors, supporting career‑shifting professionals, mentoring, and educating people on foundational financial decision‑making. The interview also explores money mindsets, budgeting, the challenges of building wealth in communities of color, and the often‑overlooked emotional side of money. Brett emphasizes starting with the basics, not skipping steps (e.g., jumping straight to cryptocurrency), and building strong financial foundations. Rushion repeatedly highlights Brett as a powerful brand and role model, underscoring the importance of Black leadership in financial fields and the role of representation in increasing trust and access. Purpose of the Interview The interview’s purpose is to: 1. Introduce Brett Chestnut as a trusted financial leader Rushion aims to elevate Brett’s visibility as a Black managing director in financial services—an industry where representation has traditionally been limited. 2. Educate listeners on financial empowerment Brett provides practical, relatable guidance on budgeting, investing, career transitions, and developing financial discipline. 3. Highlight Northwestern Mutual’s diversity initiatives Brett explains how the company is intentionally investing in diverse advisors and underserved markets. 4. Inspire career‑based and financial self‑reflection He encourages people to examine their spending habits, consider new career paths, and align decisions with long-term goals. 5. Promote mentorship and community uplift Both Brett and Rushion stress the transformative power of mentorship and generational investment. Key Takeaways 1. Financial empowerment starts with awareness Brett urges everyone to analyze their last 2–3 months of spending to understand what their habits really prioritize. 2. You must “choose your hard” Saving and planning may be difficult now, but the alternative is harder later. Financial success requires discipline, not magic formulas. 3. Wealth building is emotional as much as logical Money connects to family, relationships, self‑worth, stress, and confidence. Advisors must understand clients emotionally, not just mathematically—especially women and diverse communities. 4. Don’t skip steps (especially with investing and crypto) Many want to “get rich fast,” but Brett warns that skipping foundational steps (budgeting, savings, retirement planning) leads to confusion and poor decisions. 5. Mentorship works only with real relationship True mentorship requires understanding someone’s full life story, not just giving advice. 6. Representation matters in financial services Northwestern Mutual is investing heavily in diverse advisors not just for optics, but because entire markets have been historically underserved. 7. Closing the wealth gap requires generational strategy One generation must be willing to be selfless, disciplined, and intentional with assets to move future generations forward. 8. Brett sees his work as multiplying impact By developing new advisors and helping create “15 millionaires,” he hopes to create compounding community uplift. Notable Quotes (from the transcript) On financial empowerment “I want people to dream again. We’re not dreaming no more—we’re living because of obligation.” “When we’re born we look like our parents, but when we die, we look like our decisions.” On career purpose “I help people who are successful but career‑disturbed.
