There were many exciting things at this year's National Western Stock Show, but one of the highlights was the group meeting up on the side pens of the Event Center.  The Bison people were there in force, and the critters they came with stole the show, even if it was 25 degrees and snowing.  Especially since it was that cold, because in the frigid air the already impressive and feisty beasts were breathing out steam from their nostrils like something out of The Hobbit.  Today, we're sharing a conversation we had with Chad Kremer, President of the National Bison Association, Herd Manager for Custer State Park in South Dakota, long-time bison ranch owner, and title holder of the National Western's Most Interesting Mustache.  He was also a super nice guy, and a true representative of All Things Good about South Dakota.  After speaking with him, it looks like another roundup might be in our filming future -- Buffalo style, so it looks like we're going back.Done with capitals yet?  Wild, Wooly, and Untamed.  With that, we'll put our foot down (but gently)(And as a side note – how many people can legitimately say they're president of the NBA?  How cool is that?) Links:www.kremerbuffalo.comhttps://kremerbuffalo.com/blog/https://www.nps.gov/articles/15-facts-about-bison.htmhttps://gfp.sd.gov/parks/detail/custer-state-park/https://gfp.sd.gov/buffalo-roundup/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_bisonhttps://www.fws.gov/about/region/mountain-prairiehttps://bisoncentral.com/https://www.nps.gov/articles/15-facts-about-bison.htmhttps://www.nwf.org/Educational-Resources/Wildlife-Guide/Mammals/American-Bisonhttps://www.rei.com/blog/camp/yes-there-are-still-bison-in-america-heres-where-to-see-them Support the show

By 1963, James Bond has now become an international success with two popular installments brought to cinemas around the world. For the third installment, Goldfinger, new director Guy Hamilton was brought in to broaden the appeal of the suave super spy, by making subtle changes to the formula and the tone of the films. In 1999 at the height of the teen comedy craze came a film set in 1978 about four boys' journey to see the legendary rock group KISS in Detroit and the only thing standing in their way is overjealous parents, the clergy, girls and their own ineptitude. While this film was panned by critics, MovieDude Eric, Kent & special guest Willie D. Nelson of All Things Good and Nerdy take the trip to Iron City to see if the critics were wrong.   Music: "Poofy Reel" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ If you like this episode, you can find more of Arthouse Legends on GonnaGeek.com along with other similar geek podcasts. January is once again on us and that only means one thing: Arthouse Legends looks at films panned by film critics and determine if they weren't given a fair chance. Special Guest Anthony from All Things Good and Nerdy joins us as we look at the 1980 surprise hit that would launch one of the largest horror franchises yet was so hated by critics that it caused several of them to literally dox the filmmakers and one of it's lead actors. But does Friday the 13th deserve such ridicule or has time vindicated this staple of horror (not taking into account the numerous sequels in its wake)? Join the MovieDude Eric, Kent and Anthony as they stretch out by the lake, take in some archery and possibly some Strip Monopoly (you might not want to be around for that). Then, he and Jon have a MAJOR announcement about the future of Unqualified Gamers! Show Notes: * Cody and Jon discuss whether 127 is a prime number (it is) in a moment of ominous foreshadowing * Cody explains how nuclear weapons work (kind of) in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and the inner workings of Konami’s “worldwide nuclear disarmament” event online * Members of two subreddits, /r/MetalGearPhilanthropy (which Cody mistakenly calls Metal Gear Philosophers throughout the episode) and /r/MetalGearPatriots, are particularly active in vying for disarmament and proliferation, respectively * Cody references “mainstream” pickup of the event, including WIRED and Ars Technica * Jon compares the event to events in massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) * Meanwhile, in real life, Cody and Jon actually saw each other in the flesh over Thanksgiving! Hear them recap their turkey day weekends, including Cody seeing Jon’s son running around and being hilarious * Hear why Jon is still playing Final Fantasy XIV, and what his latest plans are for his PC gaming life * PC building with Jonathan Martin * Cody and Jon make a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT regarding the future of Unqualified Gamers * You will not want to miss next week’s episode, for anything, no matter what * Also on the GonnaGeek Network this week, check out Legends of S.H.I.E.L.D. Plus, Cody has an exciting announcement about the future of Unqualified Gamers! Photo credit: gullevek via Flickr Show Notes: * Jon briefly mentions Google’s addition of podcasts to Google Play Music, which is a big deal for the world of podcasting * Cody teases an announcement, which Jon fears may be an announcement of an announcement, which may just end up being a bunch of Vaguebooking * Jon talks about his internet connection, which is running at a slow speed of legendary proportions, although you’ll really only notice if you’re watching the video of this podcast on YouTube * Jon gives a feature-length Dragon Quest Heroes review, starting with an overview of the relationship of the Dragon Quest series with North American audiences, including when in 1990, Nintendo Power ran a promotion packaging a free copy of Dragon Warrior with a paid yearly subscription * Jon discusses Musou games in general, then gives a review rife with comparisons to Hyrule Warriors, which Cody talked about on basically a zillion episodes in a row in the past * In a surprising twist, although Jon likes Dragon Quest Heroes more than Hyrule Warriors in general, he does point out one thing he misses from the WiiU game from his past * An unexpected, accidental seamless transition finds Cody briefly mentioning a bachelor party and how he brought his WiiU to play Smash Bros. with friends, and ended up playing Hyrule Warriors in an airport * PSA: Cody reminds the listener that neither he nor Jon advocate drinking and driving * Without giving any details, Cody briefly mentions that he is still playing Metal Gear Solid V, and just over 70 hours into the game, he has finally unlocked multiplayer mode (and maintains a game completion rate of less than 40%) * Cody promotes All Things Good and Nerdy Episode 183 “Halloween Hangover” and the series finale of Voices of Defiance, both fellow podcasts on the GonnaGeek Network * Jon brings up the fact that there’s going to be a new Star Trek television series, which he simply hopes won’t be as bad as Enterprise, which he hated; Cody remains neutral on the matter for various reasons * Cody finally makes the first official announcement about an upcoming change with the podcast—tune in to future episodes to learn more details!

But Jon talks in painstaking detail about those things anyway * Fun fact about Walt Disney and his dad, which serves as a seamless transition into Cody talking about Devil in the White City, an excellent book * Cody explains that reading Devil in the White City is infinitely more fun and rewarding than playing Hearthstone in literally every way * Jon claims that the Arena is still “kind of” fun, but Cody insists that Hearthstone generally just really sucks and is not a game “for him” * Cody gives an update on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which he’s now played for a bit over 50 hours * Cody describes the “buddy” system, including D-Horse, Diamond Dog, and Quiet, which is very cool * Cody also discusses the prevalence of side missions and dispatch missions in the context of main story missions * Jon discusses his first impressions of Final Fantasy: Type-0 HD, which Cody had also begun playing before he got MGSV * Jon explains the premise and beginning of the game, and he and Cody discuss how the “tutorial” near the beginning nearly ruined the game for both of them * Cody calls out the voice acting after Jon calls out some inconsistencies in what graphics had increased resolution and what graphics seem to have been forgotten * They discuss pacing in games and how things like the tutorial in this game can really mess up a game * Cody plugs the GonnaGeek Network, specifically All Things Good and Nerdy * Reminder that you can subscribe to Unqualified Gamers on iTunes, and even leave reviews, which we would LOVE for you to do

Show Notes: * Cody kicks off the review by discussing the storyline of the series, including how accessible this game is to Metal Gear newcomers * Jon asks about the new open world format of Metal Gear Solid V, and Cody addresses how the change in structure affects the feel of the series * Cody describes what “open world” means to the Metal Gear Solid series, including the new “episode” structure of the storyline * Jon inquires about the actual game mechanics, so Cody explains the iDroid system, the sneaking and combat mechanics, and what “stealth game” precisely means in the context of the Metal Gear series * Moby Dick references and symbolism! Hooray! * Cody explains Mother Base and the private army you build throughout the game, and how those mechanics affect your progression through the game * Upon further questioning from Jon, Cody explains the Fulton recovery system, also known as “the giant balloons you attach to things,” and Jon finds the idea utterly insane * On a side note: fortunately for everyone, microtransactions seem to be all but missing from this game, which Cody and Jon are fine with * Without giving away any spoilers, Cody describes the uncharacteristically hyper-violent opening to the game, which sets a somber tone that Hideo Kojima somehow masterfully maneuvers into a much different overall feel * Jon talks about why he’s pretty much “done” with Diablo 3 (for now) * Mandatory Hearthstone talk, since Jon downloaded it to his phone again, and Cody can’t quit it despite the amount of self-loathing that it entails * After Cody plugs All Things Good and Nerdy on the Gonna Geek Network, Jon talks about the show Bojack Horseman, and how it is not at all the kind of show he expected it to be when he started watching it * Following a final plug for Gallifrey Public Radio, Cody impresses everyone with his ability to roll the letter “r,” even in completely inappropriate situations

Claire's response to how to deal with Matt is pretty reasonable. "Davai, Davai.." Man, that was a new way to see how to kill someone, dropping an fire extinguisher from 20 meter down onto his head. Hmmm, so that just incapacitated him.  Daddy Murdock not sticking to the plan...will this end like Butch on Pulp Fiction or Homer, when Angel-Moe had to come to rescue him?  What the Dickens (Orphan Black reference) is Claire wearing there? But like KKK. A medically savvy KKK. Matt listening if Russian friend will live. Well that depends when/if somebody finds him in that dumpster. I wouldn't be surprised if kid Matt actor is really blind or just a great performer. All in all I felt the actors were more comfortable with each other, although they most likely shot most scenes out of sequence anyway.   My eyes are falling asleeeeeeeoe bye now   Andi...somehow forgot in first mail to add my name.   _________________________________   Andreas Kuehn May 13 (13 days ago)   to stargatepioneer  After last weeks cliffhanger, I would expect Skye entering the house, finding "stoned" Gonzales and figuring out that something is seriously wrong with Jiaying. Jiaying telling Gordon to "take care" of Gonzales, meaning blasting everything to pieces to destroy every evidence. Sure Lauren did the "maaaahp" sound from Sterling Archer, after they blasted the building. Like me. Holy Frak how Skye took out that Agent! But May really shouldn't try reason with her right now. Jiaying's plan to distrust seems to work. Ugh! Man, all that plus the May vs. Skye bonnanza, and that was just the pre title logo sequence! Perfect, so Jiaying has powers like X-Men's Rogue! Aaaaargh, pushing that needle under Bobbi's fingernail is too brutal for me. Gutting, chopping off heads, no problemo, but this...uhrrrrr. Really beginning to dislike Agent Weaver. How disrespectful she talked to Mack. Simmons finding out about Cal's substances...I have a BAAAAD feeling about this! No surprise that Jiaying would kill Raina, but that Skye would see it from the bushes. Please! Let it be May posing as Agent 33, while Kara is still sleeping!!!   Poor Cal, being the puppet for Jiaying. But man are the SHIELD people dumb for taking Cal to the medical wing from where he can escape. If Gordon and Lincoln doesn't understand it by now, when Jiaying opens up the briefcase with the crystals, then they can't be helped.   Nice, Coulson taking out the battering ram from Winter Soldier out of the closet. And managing to derage Cal. Quite a feat! Hahaha, Mack asking for these skills from Skye! Last episode I was wondering which unconscious body they carried through the ship. So that was Skye. "Ginger Ninjas" *rachelsnort, at least Lincoln is finally beginning to question of what is going on. I predict, in the end he will sacrifice himself. Only in the end they show Bobbi's chair was chained to the ground. First suspected she would try to knock down the rifle. In the end sliding into the line of the bullet. Next best decision. This two-parter is bannanas! Now May managed to trick kara to pose as May, to go to Ward and Ward to shoot her. Wow!! Mack mentioning Fox News...priceless! If there wouldn't have been talk about a Spin-Off show, I would feel way more anxious about Bobbi's current critical condition. How did Skye know about her mother using the crystal on the ship to kill Beardy Agent? Really Simmons??!! Now you are bringing up this delicate topic?! As if Fitz doesn't need anything extra to cloud his mind during this crucial mission!  Skye vs. Ginger Ninjas and all the rest is more grand than some action movies in the cinema. Really Skye??! Talking with your mom while her goons load the crystals on a plane?? "And together we can rule the galaxy as father and son....oh mother and daughter". Very Empire Strikes Back. I was so freaking out when Skye let her mom come closer...to freaking touch her and suck out her life energy!!!!! How they decided to make Skye's eyes bleached out, hen Jiaying tries to kills her. Though Skye still had some energy left for that power move to push the plane from the ship. So that happens when two different objects try to exist in the same space: Bye Gordon, really liked you but Jiaying had you already around her finger for many years. FRAAAAAK!...was that quick thinking by Mack! Jamie Lannister sends his regards. Awwwwww, Cal doing the deed for Skye to snap Jiaying's neck. Daddy really loves his Daisy. Well that concludes everything, right?? Oh, what happened to Ward in the meantime?? What plans is Coulson printing back at base? So he will become a Real-Life-Decoy? My guess, May took vacation to hunt down Ward. Ohhhh, the feels again at the end with Cal and Skye....Oh noes so they gave Cal the "Magical Place" treatment. Do you think he asked for that or not? Come ON!!! Fitz not seeing that he opened the box!!!! Or was he mind-controlled?   All in all grandiose Season Final and gripping 2nd season. Now Dichen Lachman can return to "The 100".
