What if that nagging voice of imposter syndrome isn't really yours, but a belief you picked up in childhood and never questioned? In this episode of the Productivity Smarts podcast, host Gerald J. Leonard sits down with Armida Espinoza, educator, speaker, and author of Brave Lolis's Box of Hope, to explore how early self-doubt evolves into imposter syndrome and how neuroplasticity can help us rewrite that story. Armida opens up about her journey from a shy first grader struggling to learn English to becoming a published children's author who now helps others find their voice. She shares how one classroom moment led to years of limiting beliefs and how awareness, gratitude, and daily mindset shifts helped her reclaim her confidence and purpose. Together, Gerald and Armida unpack practical ways to reprogram negative thinking, build resilience, and teach both children and adults how to challenge their inner critic. It's an inspiring reminder that it's never too late to rewire your brain, rewrite your story, and step fully into your potential. Apologies if you've landed here hoping for a gripe-and-gossip session. Instead, Sierra and I dig into her experiences as a newer therapist in a group practice setting. This trajectory from grad school straight into private practice has become increasingly common. Subsequently, there's a learning curve to be aware of on both sides of the owner/therapist dynamic. Send Me a Message! Finally I've published something. Not because this episode is one of my best (it isn't), but because I couldn't stand being stuck in that record-delete loop any longer. After days of fighting perfectionism, imposter syndrome, and an overactive inner critic, I realised the only way to get beyond this loop is to publish something....anything!Fear of imperfection can paralyse creativity and curtail results, which is why releasing even a half-baked episode can be enough to get things rolling again. Although this episode leans towards filler, it is just as important as any other when it comes to it. I need this one in the bag, so I can then focus my energies outwardly again to create magic. I even give a sneak preview into two of the new episodes in the pipeline....and thanks to this current effort I can work towards getting those episodes published sooner rather than later.Perfectionism, creative anxiety, self-doubt, imposter syndrome, inner critic. Quite the handful, but I've been able to overcome them again!Support the showYou can follow me on Instagram: @elliot.t.waters, and the show on Facebook!

You tell yourself you're being strategic. That you're building collaborations, finding complementary skill sets, creating win-win partnerships. But what if the real reason you keep looking for someone else to do it with you is because you don't believe you're enough on your own? Andrea Janzen built a wildly successful leadership development company in one of the most male-dominated industries on the planet: construction. She's coached over 1,000 construction professionals, works with multinational companies, hosts the Ambition Theory Podcast, and is a Forbes contributor. On the outside, she's absolutely killing it. But for years, Andrea was running a story underneath all that success. A story that said she wasn't legitimate without an HR background. That she needed partners to fill her gaps. That her energy and authentic approach weren't enough to carry her business forward. The cost? She almost missed massive opportunities. She hid her greatest strengths. She exhausted herself trying to prove her worth. And even when she was achieving goals she'd journaled about years earlier, she couldn't let herself feel successful. Until a client said five words that changed everything: "We just want to work with you." In this raw, vulnerable conversation, Andrea reveals: The "not enough" story that drove her to seek business partners from scarcity, not strategy (and how to tell the difference) Why high achievers mistake imposter syndrome for missing credentials, when the real issue is hiding their genius The moment a client reflected back what she couldn't see in herself (and why we need mirrors when building something new) How over-functioning and resentment are your body's way of telling you you've abandoned personal responsibility Why she can journal about goals, achieve them years later, and still not feel successful (and what actually needs to shift) The practice of looking back at where you were five years ago as medicine for "never enough" How setting a 3pm work boundary and a shutdown ritual actually accelerated her business growth Why Santa now deposits $100/month for mandatory date nights (and what her kids are learning about prioritizing relationships) The difference between partnerships built from lack versus partnerships built from abundance Why solo time in nature, crime novels at the library, and protecting her energy are non-negotiables for showing up powerfully This episode is for you if you've ever: Told yourself you needed more credentials, certifications, or partners before you could really go for it Built something impressive but secretly felt like an imposter the entire time Looked for others to validate or legitimize what you're creating instead of trusting yourself Achieved goals you set years ago but moved the bar so fast you never celebrated Known you were over-functioning and carrying everything, then resented others for not stepping up Felt more comfortable being "strategic" about collaboration than admitting you're scared to do it alone Wondered if your authentic energy and approach could really be enough in a world that values traditional credentials   About Andrea Janzen: Andrea Janzen is a Certified Executive Coach with an MBA, the host of the Ambition Theory Podcast, a Forbes contributor, and a top-rated speaker. She is passionate about coaching construction professionals to develop themselves, set leadership goals, and get results. Since 2018, Andrea has coached and trained over 1,000 construction professionals. Before becoming a coach, Andrea was a marketing leader who worked on some of the world's best-known brands. Connect with Andrea: Ambition Theory Ambition Theory Podcast Leadership Accelerator for Women in Construction Building Better Report   Ready to stop hiding behind partnerships and step into what you're actually capable of? Here's what Andrea's story reveals: The "not enough" story doesn't go away with more credentials, more partners, or more proof. It goes away when you finally see what's been true all along, that your energy, your authentic approach, your unique way of seeing things, that's not a gap to fill. That's your genius. But most high achievers can't see this on their own. We need someone to hold up the mirror, to name the pattern we're running, to show us where we're hiding instead of leading. That's exactly what the Congruency Audit does. The Congruency Audit is where we look at the gap between the success you've built on the outside and what you're actually feeling on the inside. We'll identify the exact "not enough" story keeping you stuck, the ways you're over-functioning or seeking external validation instead of trusting yourself, and what it's going to take for you to finally create success that feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside. If Andrea's story hit you somewhere deep, if you recognized yourself in the pattern of seeking partners from scarcity or achieving goals without feeling successful, this call is for you. Book your Congruency Audit This isn't about optimizing the version of yourself you built to survive. It's about creating congruence so the life you've built doesn't just look good, it finally feels right.

In this episode I chat with the lovely Erica Gwynn, author, podcaster, and mom about her new book That's Just Not True. She shares how easily we start believing lies about our worth, purpose, and identity. From the pressure to “have it all together” to the quiet voice that whispers “you're missing out” or “you're not enough,” the conversation dives deep into how these thoughts take root — and how God's truth brings freedom. Through honest stories and truth, Erica reminds us that you are not enough — but Jesus is enough. God hasn't asked us to do everything; He's gifted us to play our part in the body of Christ. Here is some of what we cover: Turning ordinary (or in between) moments into “breath prayers”  Recognizing lies like: I'm missing out, I missed my shot, and I can manifest my dream life We talk about how mom's can make their kids their whole life and identity How to shift worldly affirmations to Godly affirmations How social media has become a place of “curated messy” and fake authenticity Connect with Erica Gwynn:  Website:  Popular Philadelphia Lifestyle Blog | Coming Up Roses Facebook: Coming Up Roses Instagram:  Erica Ligenza Gwynn // PHILLY (@ericaligenza) Links Mentioned:   That's Just Not True: By Erica Ligenza Gwynn You Are Special; by Max Lucado Must Be Nice Hat from Sidetracked Podcast Thrive Podcast | Coming up Roses Related Episodes: If You're Tired of Feeling Like You Don't Measure Up… :: Hosanna Wong [Ep 538] The Shift: Overcoming Self-Sabotage, Imposter Syndrome, and Critical Inner Monologues :: Mary Marantz [Ep 520] Unpacking Moms' Mental Load :: Dr. Morgan Cutlip [Ep 503] Featured Sponsors:  Green Chef–Make this fall your healthiest yet with Green Chef. Welcome to the Like Attracts Like Mindshift Challenge! Over the next 21 days, we are dropping a podcast a day with our most powerful mindset shifts and techniques. Join us as we go on a journey of self discovery and uncover the truth of who we are. On Day 12, we discuss the concepts of people pleasing and imposter syndrome. We keep people in our lives that help us reinforce the stories we've been telling. As we shift identities, the people externally will exist to challenge the new beliefs we are creating.  Action Step Today:  Think about the people in your life right now, and ask yourself these questions to examine if either of these two energies are at play: People pleasing: How are people outside of you responding to the changes you're making, and how does that mirror you're level of sureness? Are you dropping back down to your old beliefs to make other people feel comfortable? Imposter Syndrome: Do you feel guilt for wanting a better life?  Are you experiencing feelings of "leaving people behind"? These are all tricks we will use to drop back down to our old story.    As always, if you want to discuss how any of these topics pertain to a specific area of your life, book a mindset shift session below: 1:1 Mindset & Performance Mentorship Calls: If you would like to book a session to move forward in the area discussed in this show or any other areas of your life, visit link below for further resources or booking schedule  https://hoo.be/patmahan   CONNECT WITH ME ON: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/likeattractslike11 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thelikeattractslikepodcast TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRDc1pT4/

If you've ever paused on your next chapter because you think you need to be “more ready” or “more perfect,” this one's for you. My dear friend, multi-hyphenate creative and mentor Jessica Eileen Drogosz joins me to dismantle the myth that leaders must have it all together before they lead. From building associate teams and separating brands to launching a heart-led coaching offer, Jessica shares the real (and often messy) middle—where clarity, courage, and connection are forged. So many of you are standing on the edge of your next season—coaching, teaching, creating a course, or simply showing up more boldly online. If perfectionism has been your speed bump, consider this your green light. Progress—not flawlessness—is what builds mastery, self-trust, and momentum. In this episode, we cover: The myth of perfection and why showing your humanity actually builds more trust. Following the “whisper”—how to recognize the nudge that it's time for your next thing. Making space for multipassionate work: running successful photo brands and stepping into mentorship. Leadership in real life: humility, owning mistakes, and building systems with your team. Identity first, strategy second: creating from the future you (website, offers, and voice) before you “feel ready.” Micro-leaps & progress tracking: simple daily practices that compound into big outcomes. Social media resistance: sharing vulnerably in a new container without overthinking it. Coaching with depth: why inner story work belongs before scaling strategies. You don't need a perfect plan to lead—you need your imperfect, present self and one brave step. If you're ready to move from dreaming to doing, go follow Jessica and book a clarity call. And if you want coaching around identity, mindset, and strategy for your next season, my door's open too. Let's build the future you—starting today. Meet Jessica Jessica Eileen Drogosz is a multi-hyphenate creative with over 14 years of experience turning vision into reality through artistry, strategy, and soul. As the founder of For Just a Moment Weddings and Our Days Photo and Film, she has traveled the world documenting love, legacy, and human connection—blending refined editorial style with honest, documentary storytelling. Beyond photography her work has always been about more: helping others step fully into their story, create with truth, and embrace the beauty of becoming. Through her Undone & Becoming coaching, Jessica supports women and creative entrepreneurs in moving from uncertainty to clarity, from dreaming to doing. She offers strategic guidance, grounded mentorship, and bold encouragement to help others take their next leap—with heart, purpose, and integrity. Status isn't fixed; it's transferred and "bestowed," shaping who gets resources, attention, and opportunity. So argues author Toby Stuart of UC Berkeley in his book, Anointed. He and EconTalk's Russ Roberts explore why hierarchies persist--reducing conflict, allocating scarce resources, and curating our overwhelming choices--and how endorsements, blurbs, and brands quietly steer our judgments, from bookstores to wine shops and art galleries. At the end, Stuart reflects on imposter syndrome and how thinking deeply about the anointed changed how he sees success.
