Oxytocin: How To Naturally Induce Your MIRACLE Hormone | Anna Cabeca : 1493

Your Hormones Are Killing You: Oxytocin, FSH, and the Anti-Aging Protocol Most Doctors Ignore Your hormones are running your love life, your intuition, your longevity, and your brain, and most doctors are getting it completely wrong. Host Dave Asprey sits down with triple board-certified OBGYN Dr. Anna Cabeca to break down the clinical science of oxytocin, female pleasure, hormonal optimization, and why fixing your hormones can make your 70s the best decade of your marriage. Dr. Anna Cabeca is a triple board-certified OBGYN and fellow of gynecology and obstetrics, integrative medicine, and anti-aging and regenerative medicine, with additional board certifications in functional medicine, sexual health, and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. She is the bestselling author of The Hormone Fix, Keto-Green 16, and MenuPause, and has spent decades researching the clinical intersection of oxytocin, cortisol, estrogen, and progesterone on women's hormonal health, metabolism, and longevity. Her work on keto-green nutrition, vaginal and bladder microbiome health, and bioidentical hormone replacement has made her one of the most credentialed and clinically experienced voices in women's functional medicine practicing today. Dave and Dr. Anna break down the real pharmacology of oxytocin, including its role in muscle regeneration, cortisol suppression, mitochondrial signaling, and vagal tone optimization. They expose the toxic ingredients hiding in mainstream lubricants and vaginal hormone creams, including aspartame, parabens, and petroleum derivatives, and explain why the vaginal microbiome is a frontline organ for women's metabolism and anti-aging. They get into the neuroscience of orgasm, pineal gland activation, endogenous DMT release, and the neurochemical cascade behind peak altered states. Dr. Anna also breaks down the Women's Health Initiative disaster, the FDA's recent reversal on bioidentical hormone replacement, and why FSH is a critical and widely overlooked longevity biomarker. High post-menopausal FSH drives neuroinflammation, accelerates bone loss, and degrades brain optimization outcomes, and most physicians are not testing for it. This is essential listening for anyone serious about biohacking, longevity, anti-aging, functional medicine, human performance, brain optimization, and taking full ownership of their biology. You'll Learn: Why oxytocin functions as a regenerative hormone that rebuilds muscle, suppresses cortisol, and supports mitochondria signaling What toxic chemicals are hiding in standard lubricants and vaginal hormone creams and what to use instead How orgasm activates the pineal gland and triggers endogenous DMT release and altered neurological states Why female intuition may be directly linked to mitochondrial density concentrated in the ovaries How elevated FSH drives neuroinflammation, bone loss, and accelerated brain aging in post-menopausal women Why the FDA reversed 30 years of flawed guidance on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy How four days of sensory deprivation supercharges melatonin, oxytocin, and endogenous DMT production Why oxytocin combined with ketamine is being used clinically to break trauma patterns and rewire neural pathways How polyphenols, CoQ10, carnitine, and vagal tone training protect cardiovascular health and support longevity Why polypharma accelerates decline and what functional medicine does differently Thank you to our sponsors! - KILLSwitch | If you're ready for the best sleep of your life, order now at https://www.switchsupplements.com/and use code DAVE for 20% off - Gatlan | Book your free consultation at www.gatlan.com/DAVE - Redmond Real - Leaf Toothpaste | Go to https://redmond.com/asprey and use code ASPREY for 15% off your first order. - Neuronic | Go to www.neuronic.online Code DAVE for $100 off Dave Asprey is a four-time New York Times bestselling author, founder of Bulletproof Coffee, and the father of biohacking. Why do so many women suddenly start waking up at 3:00 a.m. during perimenopause? In this practical and science-backed conversation, Dr. Mariza sits down with renowned sleep specialist Dr. Michael Breus to unpack why sleep changes so dramatically during perimenopause and menopause, and what women can do to finally get restorative sleep again. Dr. Breus explains how fluctuating estrogen, progesterone, melatonin, cortisol, body temperature, and blood sugar all collide during midlife, creating the perfect storm for middle-of-the-night awakenings. He shares why waking up at 3:00 a.m. is incredibly common, how modern habits often make it worse, and why women need a layered approach instead of relying on a single solution. Together, they discuss everything from sleep apnea, hormone replacement therapy, alcohol, caffeine, blood sugar, and evening routines to cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), breathwork, thermoregulation, and supplementation. Most importantly, Dr. Breus offers practical strategies women can begin implementing immediately to improve sleep quality, reduce nighttime wakeups, and build a foundation for better health through every stage of menopause. If you've been lying awake at 3:00 a.m. wondering what's happening to your body, this episode is packed with answers and actionable solutions. DR. MICHAEL BREUS Dr. Michael Breus is a board-certified clinical psychologist, clinical sleep specialist, bestselling author, and founder of The Sleep Doctor. For more than two decades, he has helped millions of people improve their sleep through science-backed strategies focused on circadian rhythms, sleep disorders, behavioral sleep medicine, and overall wellness. He is the author of multiple bestselling books, including Sleep, Drink, Breathe. IN THIS EPISODE Why women commonly wake up around 3:00 a.m. during perimenopause How estrogen, progesterone, cortisol, and blood sugar affect sleep The biggest mistakes women make before bedtime Why sleep apnea is often overlooked in midlife women How CBT-I can help retrain the brain for better sleep The role of caffeine, alcohol, fiber, and evening nutrition Why cooling the body improves sleep quality Practical habits that create a healthier nighttime routine QUOTES “Everything we do, we do better with a good night's sleep.” “Sleep is the currency of attention.” “You need runway to land the plane.” RESOURCES MENTIONED Order my newest book: The Perimenopause Revolution https://peri-revolution.com/ Get the “Sleep Drink Breathe: Simple Daily Habits for Profound Long-Term Health” book by Dr. Michael Breus. https://amzn.to/4b6OM75 Take the Chronoquiz nowGet the Home Sleep Study - The at-home sleep study measures key sleep metrics The Sleep Doctor Website The Sleep Doctor Instagram The Sleep Doctor Youtube RELATED EPISODES  758: Why Your Body Can't Heal Until It Feels Safe: The Nervous System Shift That Changes Everything with Dr. Dave Rabin 757: The Hidden Emotional Shift of Perimenopause (No One Prepared Us For) with Dr. Melinda Ring 756: What Low-Grade Inflammation Is Really Doing to Your Hormones, Brain & Metabolism with Dr. Mariza 755: What If Your Body Isn't Broken, Just Undernourished? #322 Menopause Hormone Therapy: Everything You Need to Know in 2026

    How Humans Heal

Welcome to How Humans Heal. In this episode, I'm covering one of the most common topics I get asked about every day: hormone therapy during perimenopause and menopause. Whether you have fears about estrogen, your doctor recently recommended hormone therapy, or you're simply trying to figure out what to do, I want this to be your one-stop place to get informed and start making decisions. There's a lot to understand, so I'll break it down as simply as possible. Keep in mind that this is never one-size-fits-all, everything needs to be individualized, monitored, and adjusted over time with a knowledgeable practitioner. I'm Dr. Doni Wilson, a Naturopathic Doctor and Certified Professional Midwife with over 26 years in practice. I learned about hormone therapy over 30 years ago in naturopathic medical school, so this is not a new topic for me. I've been helping women navigate hormones for decades, and I'm recording this in 2026. Research over the past few years, particularly since 2023, has completely changed how both naturopathic and conventional medicine approach menopause. I'm here to help you! How do you help someone whose chronic bloating, abdominal distension, digestive issues, hormone imbalance, and fatigue keep returning, even after working with multiple practitioners? In this episode of the Health Detective Podcast, Michele Scarlet sits down with FDN Practitioner Becca Chilczenkowski, co-owner of FitMom Functional Health, to break down one of her most complex Functional Diagnostic Nutrition case studies. Together, they explore how a woman struggling with severe bloating, recurring H. pylori, parasites, reflux, constipation, dermatitis, fibroids, weight gain, exhaustion, and hormone challenges finally experienced lasting Health Transformation through a layered, whole-body approach. Rather than chasing symptoms or relying on aggressive protocols, Becca explains why supporting Functional Health begins with restoring digestive capacity, improving stomach acid, bile flow, nutrient absorption, and immune resilience before introducing targeted Healing Protocols. She shares how Functional Lab Testing, blood work, and GI-MAP testing helped uncover hidden stressors driving chronic inflammation and why rebuilding the body's foundations produced long-term results. The conversation also explores Gut Health, Hormone Health, Functional Medicine, Root Cause Healing, digestive enzymes, HCl, ox bile, immune support, fasting strategies, metabolic flexibility, and the importance of nervous system regulation. Michele and Becca discuss why many women dealing with Chronic Illness, Burnout, bloating, and hormone issues often need less stress, not more exercise, and why personalized care consistently outperforms one-size-fits-all protocols. They also discuss collaborating with medical teams for hormone therapy and peptides while staying within the FDN scope of practice, highlighting how Health Coaching, Practitioner Education, and teamwork create better client outcomes. Laura Federico is a certified sex therapist. Morgan Miller is a certified professional midwife who runs a birth center in Maine. They've been friends since their early twenties and recently co-authored "The Cycle Book," a guide and tracking tool built to teach people about their hormones before they're in crisis. They join Em and Cass to talk about why most of us only learn about our cycles when something is already wrong, and what changes when you actually understand what your body is doing. From there, they get into the trap of cycle-syncing programs (the seed cycling, the diets, the "stay in bed during your luteal phase" advice), why ovulation deserves way more attention than it gets, the cervical fluid biomarker nobody was taught about in middle school, and why the natural-versus-unnatural binary is a red flag every time. They explain why they're fans of tracking your cycle even on hormonal birth control, what they actually think of Oura Rings, and the stat about period tracking apps that should be on every billboard (they're 21% accurate at predicting ovulation, and your data is being bought and sold). You can find "The Cycle Book" wherever books are sold, and Laura and Morgan at itslauraandmorgan.com and on Instagram at @itslauraandmorgan. Have you ever eaten past the point of fullness and immediately thought, “What is wrong with me?”  Maybe you told yourself you had no self-control. Maybe you promised you would start over on Monday. Maybe you felt guilty, frustrated, or ashamed, then tried to fix it with another plan, another set of rules, or another attempt to “be good.” In this episode, we're talking about the restrict binge cycle, and why the story you've been told about it may be completely wrong. Because what if your eating patterns are not a sign that you need more willpower or self-control? What if your body is responding exactly the way it was designed to respond? And what if the very thing you keep turning to for control is the thing keeping you stuck? We're breaking down why food restriction can lead to intense cravings, overeating, and shame, and why willpower is not the answer most people think it is. We also talk about the sneaky ways restriction can show up, even when you are not technically “on a diet.” You'll learn: What the restrict binge cycle is and why so many people get stuck in it Why overeating is not always a lack of self-control How physical restriction and mental restriction can both affect your relationship with food How hunger hormones shift when your body feels deprived, and why willpower was never going to win that fight Why certain foods can feel more tempting when you label them as “bad” or off-limits Why the guilt and shame after a binge keep the binge cycle alive long after the eating stops How diet culture profits from making you believe you are the problem Why self-compassion is such an important part of healing your relationship with food This conversation is for anyone who has ever felt like they cannot trust themselves around food. We hope it helps you see that your body is not the enemy, and that there may be a much kinder, more freeing way forward. Let's rebrand wellness together! Elizabeth, Tara & Maria   Connect with us! They also discuss why traditional medical approaches have historically fallen short for women, the growing role of hormone replacement therapy, and why individualized care matters more than ever. You're eating "pretty well." You're moving your body. So why does it feel like your muscle is disappearing and your effort isn't paying off the way it used to? In this episode, I sit down with Liz Plosser, former editor-in-chief of Women's Health and a woman who has spent her entire career reporting on health and fitness, to talk about what changes in midlife and why the old rules stop working. Then we go deep on amino acids, what they actually are, why your body becomes less efficient at using them as estrogen declines, and why an essential amino acid supplement might be one of the smartest, simplest things you can add to your routine. We also break down the real difference between amino acids and creatine, why BCAAs may not be worth your money, and how to build a stack that actually fits a real life, not a biohacker's spreadsheet. If you've ever felt like your body stopped responding to the things that used to work, this episode will explain why, and more importantly, what to do about it. In This Episode, We Cover: How perimenopause changed Liz's approach to fitness after decades as a cardio-focused marathoner Why muscle loss accelerates in midlife and what that means for your metabolism, strength, and aging The injury that led Liz to fall in love with strength training and chase a 280-pound deadlift PR Why it's okay to want to look strong, lean, and confident, not just "healthy" What essential amino acids are and why your body can't use protein without all nine Why women become less efficient at absorbing amino acids from food as estrogen declines The difference between amino acids and creatine, and why you likely need both Why branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) may not be worth the hype or the money New research on creatine and brain health, including higher doses on high-demand days How to build a simple, realistic daily protein and supplement routine, especially if you're on a GLP-1 Who This Episode Is For This episode is for the woman who feels like her body just isn't responding the way it used to, no matter how "right" she's doing things. It's for women in perimenopause and menopause who are confused about protein, curious about amino acids and creatine, or tired of conflicting advice from every corner of the internet. Episode #1153  This is a special revisit of one of our most popular health conversations. In this episode of The TPM Show, Doug Holt sits down with health optimization coach Jason Kidman to discuss the growing world of peptides, hormones, biohacking, and what men can do to improve their energy, recovery, body composition, and long-term health. Jason shares his personal journey through burnout, chronic health challenges, hormone issues, and emotional suppression, and how those experiences led him to spend years researching health optimization and helping other men take control of their well-being. Together, Doug and Jason explore why so many men accept low energy, brain fog, poor recovery, and declining performance as a normal part of aging when there may be more options available than they realize. Inside this episode, you'll learn: Why many men struggle with energy, focus, and recovery as they get older The connection between emotional health and physical health What peptides are and why they're getting so much attention The role hormones play in performance, mood, and vitality Common mistakes men make when trying to improve their health Practical ways to improve recovery, body composition, and longevity Why optimizing your health impacts every area of life, including relationships and business If you've been feeling tired, stuck, or frustrated with your health, this episode offers a practical look at what's possible when you stop settling for "normal" and start taking a proactive approach to your well-being. A lot of men focus on improving their health, business, and finances, but still struggle with the one area that matters most: their relationship. If you want to understand what's really causing the distance, tension, or lack of connection in your marriage, check out this free training. You'll learn the key patterns that create disconnection and the practical steps you can take to rebuild trust, respect, and intimacy. Get the free training here: https://thepowerfulman.com/scales

Women were treated as a confounding variable — their cycles, hormones, and life stages filtered out of study designs rather than centered in them. The result is a clinical landscape where practitioners are guessing, women are underserved, and the knowledge that has existed for generations in women's bodies and lineages is treated as anecdote rather than data.Stephanie Karzon Abrams is the co-creator of Galilea and founder of Beyond Consulting, a practice focused on psychedelic-informed female care: what it requires, what the research does and doesn't tell us, and what women's lived experience is already teaching practitioners who are paying attention.

Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend!   I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks…   Sussanna: Hi Dr. Cabral, I'm very interested in getting your take on this question! I'm a menopausal woman in my early 50's suffering from lack of sleep, hot flashes and mood disruptions. Is taking bio-est 80/20 plus progesterone cream (prescribed by one of the online practitioners) - safe for women with a uterus, or is switching to an estrogen only cream or patch with a progesterone pill the safest option? I've been watching many videos and trying to research as much as I can, yet the debate on which is 'correct' is quite overwhelming. My concern is my background includes my mother who passed away from an aggressive form of uterine cancer. The online practitioner assured me that studies show this combo of compounded estrogen and progesterone can decrease uterine cancer. Thoughts?! Thank you!       Kathleen: Hi Dr. Cabral, Have you any recommendations on minimally-invasive skin tightening procedures (after natural weight loss for skin that does not want to retract), such as Airsculpt with Renuvion/Plasma J? It's very expensive, but intriguing, if it works. Mostly concerned about how well it works and the long term effects of Renuvion/Plasma J and dangers it warnings associated. Thank you!       Tricia: Hi Dr. Cabral – Hope you are well! I have a bit of an embarrassing topic that I need your help with. I'm 56-year-old female & the last few months I would find myself in a deep sleep dreaming and then jump up as I'm starting to wet the bed. Lately it has gotten more frequent since I've been taking progesterone and melatonin supplements. I'm sleeping great but I can't have this issue keep happening. I am about 50lbs overweight trying to heal my insulin resistance. I always get up at least twice to use the bathroom in general. I figure the doctor would give me pills so I haven't gone. I realize something in my brain is not switching on to tell me to wake up. Do you have any suggestions or guidance? I do stop drinking liquid 2 hours prior to sleep. Thank you!      Al: Dr Cabral, I have a question about white nail spots. They tend to appear only whenever I start taking zinc supplements. I've tried picolinate or glycinate (15mg). Even when I take extra zinc short term, for about two weeks 30mg while having viral infection, a spot or two appear. Isn't it suppose to be the opposite? The only zinc that doesn't cause it are those "food-based" supplements. I also take D, Ca (from algae),and now food based multi from fermented quinoa. Even without the multi, according to cronometr I hit everything over 150% except Ca & D. I have smoothie with goat whey for breakfast, vegetarian lunch with lot of beans, paleo style dinner with rice, plus fruits & creatine pre-workout. I am a 44 years old male, about 10 percent bodyfat, athletic looking vata body type     Jennifer: Can you give me any insight on cycle problems that I have been having for almost 2 years now. They don't align with the typical timeline of PMS symptoms that everyone talks about. I have minor physical symptoms that I can handle but most importantly I have bad emotional disregulation from about days 3-8 to 12 depending on the month. I'm extremely, anxious, depressed, and get mad at everyone around me. I know this happens but when I'm in it there's nothing I can do to bring myself out until the days pass. It's really starting to take a tole on my relationships, especially my marriage. I plan to do stress mood and metabolism test but should I still do it on 19-21 days since I'm pretty stable then? Also, I'm currently doing CBO and will do the finisher, should I wait til after I finish?     Thank you for tuning into this weekend's Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right! - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/3789 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. Cabral's Book: The Rain Barrel Effect - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: CabralSupportGroup.com - - - Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - Get Your Question Answered On An Upcoming HouseCall: StephenCabral.com/askcabral - - - Would You Take 30 Seconds To Rate & Review The Cabral Concept? What if one of the most important health crises affecting men today wasn't being caused by aging, but by the environment we live in? In this eye-opening solo episode, Darin Olien investigates the alarming decline in testosterone levels, fertility, and reproductive health among men worldwide. Drawing on decades of research, epidemiological studies, environmental science, endocrinology, and public health data, Darin examines the growing evidence connecting endocrine-disrupting chemicals, microplastics, sleep deprivation, chronic stress, poor lifestyle habits, and environmental toxins to declining testosterone levels across generations. From BPA, phthalates, atrazine, PFAS, and microplastics to sleep quality, circadian rhythms, cholesterol metabolism, cortisol regulation, and natural testosterone-supporting strategies, this episode explores what may be one of the most underreported public health issues of our time—and what men can do to take control of their health today.     What You'll Learn Why testosterone levels have been declining for decades The startling research on global sperm count decline How endocrine-disrupting chemicals interfere with hormone production Why BPA and phthalates may disrupt testosterone synthesis The role of atrazine, PFAS, and environmental toxins How chronic stress diverts resources away from testosterone production Why sleep may be the most important testosterone intervention The connection between cholesterol and hormone production How microplastics are being found throughout the human body The surprising relationship between statins and testosterone levels Natural lifestyle strategies that support healthy hormone production Practical steps to reduce environmental exposure and improve health     Chapters 00:00:00 – Welcome to SuperLife 00:00:33 – Sponsor: Fatty15 and cellular health 00:04:17 – The testosterone collapse explained 00:04:51 – Testosterone levels have been declining for decades 00:06:03 – Global sperm count decline and accelerating trends 00:07:02 – Why treating symptoms misses the root cause 00:07:27 – The hidden public health crisis 00:08:03 – Why low testosterone isn't just about aging 00:09:12 – Why hormone health affects longevity 00:09:53 – Low testosterone and increased mortality risk 00:10:35 – Testosterone's role in metabolism and cardiovascular health 00:11:27 – Endocrine-disrupting chemicals and hormone disruption 00:12:44 – BPA and its effects on testosterone production 00:13:59 – Phthalates and their impact on hormone pathways 00:16:00 – Glyphosate, atrazine, and pesticide exposure 00:17:07 – PFAS and reproductive health concerns 00:17:55 – Environmental toxins and population-wide effects 00:18:11 – Sponsor: Shakeology 00:20:02 – Cholesterol and hormone production 00:20:53 – Chronic stress and cortisol dominance 00:21:45 – Actionable solutions begin 00:21:56 – Why sleep is essential for testosterone production 00:23:07 – How sleep deprivation rapidly lowers testosterone 00:23:21 – Light pollution and circadian disruption 00:23:41 – Foods and nutrients needed for hormone health 00:24:23 – Microplastics and testicular tissue 00:24:53 – Statins and unintended hormonal consequences 00:25:39 – A practical testosterone sovereignty protocol 00:25:48 – Water filtration and reducing toxic exposure 00:26:13 – Eliminating plastics and fragrance chemicals 00:26:35 – Why organic food matters 00:26:45 – Sunlight and vitamin D 00:27:05 – Magnesium, omega-3s, and iodine 00:27:26 – Pine pollen and natural androgen support 00:28:01 – Tongkat Ali and ashwagandha 00:28:48 – Strength training and lifestyle interventions 00:29:10 – Habits that naturally support testosterone 00:29:27 – Darin's approach to healthy aging 00:29:37 – Plants, herbs, and common sense 00:29:51 – Reclaiming your health and sovereignty 00:30:00 – Final thoughts and closing message     Thank You to Our Sponsors Fatty15: Get an additional 15% off their 90-day subscription Starter Kit by going to fatty15.com/DARIN and using code DARIN at checkout. It may be a reflection of the modern environment itself—one increasingly saturated with endocrine-disrupting chemicals, chronic stress, poor sleep, circadian disruption, and toxic exposures. While many of these forces feel outside our control, the encouraging reality is that many of the most powerful interventions remain accessible: improving sleep, reducing toxic load, eating whole foods, getting sunlight, managing stress, exercising regularly, and reclaiming responsibility for our health. The goal isn't fear. The goal is awareness—and action."     Bibliography/Sources: The Decline — Primary Research Levine, H., Jørgensen, N., Martino-Andrade, A., et al. (2022). If you are exhausted all day, wired at night, and waking up between 2:00 and 4:00 AM with your heart pounding and your brain suddenly wide awake, this episode is for you. Because midlife sleep issues are rarely just about needing more progesterone or taking a melatonin gummy. They are usually a sign that a whole system is asking to be recalibrated. In this episode, I go deeper into the sleep side of the midlife stress puzzle and break down what may actually be happening beneath the surface. In this episode: Why so many women in midlife feel exhausted all day but wide awake at night Why progesterone can help sleep, but is not always the whole answer How oral progesterone works through allopregnanolone and the GABA system Why stress affects progesterone through disrupted ovulation, not "progesterone steal" How estradiol affects serotonin, dopamine, acetylcholine, and your circadian rhythm Why estrogen decline can destabilize sleep, mood, body temperature, and stress resilience How melatonin really works and why it is more than just a sleep supplement Why blood sugar drops can trigger cortisol and adrenaline spikes in the middle of the night What adrenaline wakeups feel like and why they are so common in midlife How to start becoming your own detective with sleep, stress, hormones, and testing Who this episode is for This episode is for women in perimenopause and menopause who are waking up between 2:00 and 4:00 AM, struggling to stay asleep, feeling anxious for no clear reason, or finding that the old sleep advice is no longer working. It is especially for women who want a deeper understanding of what is happening hormonally and neurologically, instead of being told to just take more progesterone and hope for the best.   Use coupon code SLEEP to get 20% off our Progest Sleep oil. "Is this in my head, or is this real?"Millions of women ask themselves this question -- about their sleep, their mood, their body suddenly working differently than it used to. They can't tell if they can't sleep as well as they used to because they've got two young children ... or whether it's perimenopause. If you want to be an awesome partner (either now or in the future), listen on! This is the hormonal literacy class you never got that could help with everything. Here I sit down with Morgan Miller, midwife and co-author of The Cycle Book (with her best friend, sex therapist Laura Federico), to decode what's actually happening in a woman's body as she's in different phases. We go deep on perimenopause: sleep disruption, night sweats, heart palpitations, ER scares no one warns you about; the anxiety and PMDD that can be a hormonal sensitivity, not an imbalance. There's also the easy, often-missed fix for vaginal dryness, recurrent UTIs, and painful sex (a targeted topical instead of antibiotics). We also cover why a single blood draw is just "her estrogen at 2pm on a Tuesday" — and why tracking biomarkers (which is actually pretty simple) over a few cycles tells you a LOT more.Plus a stat that floored me: period-tracking apps are only ~20% accurate at predicting ovulation — wrong roughly 80% of the time.If your woman has ever been told "everything's fine" while her body said otherwise, and you've felt helpless watching it — this one's for you.—Work with usReady to go deeper than the podcast and take action? What if inflammation is the missing link behind so many of the symptoms women experience after 40? In this solo episode, Dr. Mariza breaks down the powerful connection between low-grade chronic inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, hormone changes, brain health, energy production, and accelerated aging. She explains why inflammation is far more than an immune system issue and how it silently influences nearly every aspect of health during perimenopause and menopause. Many women assume that fatigue, brain fog, stubborn belly fat, poor sleep, anxiety, joint pain, cravings, and declining energy are separate issues requiring separate solutions. But Dr. Mariza reveals how these symptoms are often interconnected through one common underlying process: inflammation. She also explores why perimenopause is not simply a hormone transition but a metabolic, vascular, and neuroendocrine transition that increases inflammatory burden and changes how the body responds to stress, blood sugar fluctuations, sleep disruption, and hormonal shifts. Most importantly, Dr. Mariza shares the practical lifestyle pillars she uses to lower inflammation, improve metabolic flexibility, support hormone health, and create the internal environment needed for healthy aging and long-term vitality. If you've been feeling like your body is changing but can't quite connect the dots, this episode will help you understand what inflammation may be trying to tell you.
