Hacks: B2B Marketing Lessons on Working the Crowd with Chief Marketing Officer at Workshop, Jamie Bell

    Remarkable Marketing

In comedy, the punchline only works if it lands with the audience—and B2B marketing is no different. That's what we can learn from Hacks, a show about a legendary comedian reinventing herself with the help of a Gen Z writer. In this episode, we're breaking down its lessons with the help of special guest Jamie Bell, Chief Marketing Officer at Workshop.Together, we explore what B2B marketers can learn from creating a “writer's room” for fresh ideas, testing content like comedians test their sets, and embracing generational differences as a source of connection rather than division.About our guest, Jamie BellJamie Bell is the CMO at Workshop. She is a marketing leader with a passion for building brands in underestimated industries and demand engines that keep sales teams busy (in a good way!). Over the past 12+ years, Jamie has been lucky enough to work in several early- and growth-stage companies in SaaS, e-commerce, retail, and media. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Hacks:Create a “writer's room” for marketers. Great campaigns don't just come from formal briefs—they need a space for messy, creative riffing. Jamie explains, “We didn't have a writer's room, at least at Workshop, and so when I came back from maternity leave, we added a meeting. We called it the pitch deck… it's just like an open forum for people to do like five-minute pitches, and we just creatively layer on, and it's been a blast.” The lesson? Carve out judgment-free time for brainstorming, where small sparks can snowball into big campaigns.Test your material before scaling. Like comedians who try new jokes on the road, marketers should pilot ideas before investing heavily. Jamie notes, “She does road shows, before to test the set list. So we do some things in like our Happy Monday Club newsletter, where before we'll like super invest in a piece of content, we'll just see if it does better than the other content in that newsletter, and see what the reception of that is before we blow it up a bit.” The takeaway: use small, low-risk formats to gauge response, then double down on what resonates.Bridge generational divides head-on. Hacks thrives on the clash between an aging comedy legend and a Gen Z writer, two perspectives that seem at odds, but create brilliance together. Jamie ties this directly to marketing: “There's so much about marketing and internal communications that I feel is around generational differences… and I think the idea that you take that relationship, you're unapologetic about it and you just talk about it head on… I think it's really great too.” In B2B marketing, don't shy away from generational dynamics; embrace them as a rich source of storytelling and connection.Quote“ Employees are your best brand ambassadors, and you need to spend some effort rolling out things internally. Having employees connected to the mission, the vision, the values.”Time Stamps[00:55] Meet Jamie Bell, Chief Marketing Officer at Workshop[01:33] Why Hacks?[02:07] The Role of CMO at Workshop[03:07] What is the Happy Monday Club?[04:45] The Concept and Creation of Hacks[20:16] Marketing Lessons from Hacks[41:38] Importance of Community and Events[44:03] Workshops' Content Strategy[45:04] Advice for a first-time CMO[48:38] Final Thoughts and TakeawaysLinksConnect with Jamie on LinkedInLearn more about WorkshopAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. In this week's episode, we're featuring two powerful stories born from our education program.Part 1: As an undergraduate with no “real” science experience, Molly Magid is thrilled to join a research project studying how bats fly—until she discovers the bats refuse to cooperate. Part 2: As a child, Léa Souccar and her father explore the wreckage in the aftermath of a devastating bombing. Molly Magid is a science communicator and podcast producer. She has been telling stories about science since the first grade, when she wrote a biologically accurate story about ladybugs. Originally from Denver, Colorado, Molly now lives in Christchurch, New Zealand. She enjoys sharing her passion for science anywhere from podcasts to social media to declaring her love of longfin eels on the street. Léa Souccar was born in Lebanon, three years into the war. By the time the fighting stopped, she was twelve. In between, the voice of her storytelling grandmother carried her above the chaos—like a flying carpet—and helped shape who she became. During her first year studying Performing Arts, Beirut hosted its first Storytelling and Monodrama Festival. She skipped classes that week to attend every lecture by day and every performance by night. Something long asleep inside her woke up. From that moment on, she trained relentlessly, learning from renowned storytellers from around the world. After earning a Master's in Theater Education for Special Needs, she began working as a storyteller and puppeteer, sharing stories in schools, hospitals, refugee camps, and prisons. In 2010, she became a primary school teacher in France. She found her place in a preschool classroom, where she began exploring all the ways oral storytelling can support and inspire learning. Today, she leads workshops where she shares her two greatest passions: storytelling and education—and the sparks that fly when the two meet.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Will Sentance, Founder at Codesmith and Visiting Fellow at Oxford University, explores why empathy is a foundational skill in engineering. He explains how empathetic interactions are core to building software, teams, and the trust necessary to scale tech-based companies. Will reflects on Codesmith's mission to empower people through thoughtful communication in a non-hierarchical learning environment. He describes how empathy, as a relational tool, expands technologists' critical communication capabilities driving clarity and collaboration, propelling their careers.     TAKEAWAYS     [00:26] Will is drawn to the intersection of analytical and intuitive disciplines from early education.   [01:45] Will feels a deep sense of possibility through his PPE studies and aims to pass that on.   [03:05] A mentor at Oxford influences Will's brief foray into international relations at the UN.   [04:30] Not suited to be an employee, Will seeks autonomy and creative power in software engineering.   [06:00] Will finds software to be materially satisfying and empowering as a pathway to opportunity.     [07:20] A surprising response to an early JavaScript workshop reveals his teaching clarity.   [08:15] Struggling to understand complex concepts helps Will become a better educator.   [09:30] Codesmith is founded to be an alternative path to power by mastering technology.   [10:20] Teaching coding is not just technical but an empowerment vehicle for long-term careers.   [11:40] Thoughtful communication at CodeSmith recognizes others' knowledge and emotional states.   [13:00] Empathy is about adapting communication to another person's experience.   [14:30] Coding success requires explaining systems clearly—communication is as vital as code.   [16:10] Leaders like Sam Altman show that technical communication drives modern tech leadership.   [17:45] CodeSmith uses pair programming to instill empathy through precise verbal technical articulation.   [19:00] Empathy begins with self-understanding and is trained through iterative collaboration.   [20:20] Breaking down code for others builds resilience and fosters a capacity to learn continuously.   [21:45] How different learning speeds and imposter syndrome are combatted by sharing struggles.   [23:00] Codesmith instructors are alumni because lived experience cultivates trust and relatability with students.   [24:20] Will's Oxford Fellowship explores how certain skills drive opportunity in an AI-transformed job market.   [25:50] The real skill is learning how to learn and explain complex ideas using unfamiliar tools.   [27:15] Codesmith interviews measure communication, problem-solving, and how applicants handle the unknown.   [28:30] The focus is on cultivating capacities, not just teaching frameworks or programming languages.   [29:40] Engineers and non-technical people alike must build clear, empathetic communication skills.   [30:55] Workshops for non-programmers empower leaders to engage confidently with technical concepts.   [32:00] Empathetic leadership respects team members' potential rather than relying on rules-bound oversimplification.   [34:20] Scaling AI must be matched with scaling human trust across teams and organizations.   [36:00] Will warns against systems that machines understand but humans cannot, which risks alienation.   [37:30] Open-source tools preserve accessibility and transparency in a fast-moving tech landscape.   [38:45] Many leaders are not engaging with AI tools, missing key learning and leadership opportunities.   [40:10] Building the engineering mindset—problem-solving and communication—without coding.   [41:30] Struggle is not a problem in learning; it is the engine of understanding and growth.   [42:40] Empathetic development depends on trusted relationships and cannot be scaled without sincere human investment.   [44:00] IMMEDIATE ACTION TIP: Deep learning happens through struggle which takes place in trust-based environments, so build trusting relationships to facilitate learning.     RESOURCES   Will Sentence on LinkedIn Codesmith's website     QUOTES   "The hardest part of coding isn't writing code—it's explaining code to others so that they can also either build it, understand it, or write it themselves." "Struggle is not a bug—it's the engine of growth." "We train empathy like nothing else in the program. We train it through pair programming." "You can't scale trust with AI. You need humans to scale trust." "We've even called it empathetic engineering at times. One of the principles of Codesmith is grow others even before yourselves." "It is not how vibey you are. It is not how chummy you are. It's pure and simply, can you precisely walk through based on the understanding of another person?" "Breaking something down means that I can have clarity about how I'm thinking about it, and therefore I can then build it up for you." "Struggle-based growth depends on someone else saying, ‘You're important to me enough that I'm going to invest in you.'”

Discovering Grayslake: Unveiling the Stories and People That Make Our Town Unique

Sally shares her inspiring journey from dance and theater to yoga instruction, highlighting how yoga and running have shaped her life. The conversation covers the welcoming spirit of The Yoga Effect studio, its diverse classes, and the importance of community in Grayslake. Fun rapid-fire questions reveal Sally's personality, while local sponsors and events reinforce the hometown feel. Listeners are invited to try a free yoga class and discover the benefits of mindfulness, movement, and connection in Grayslake. The True Essence of Yoga: Beyond the Poses Sally Gill's journey with yoga began not with the physical postures, but with meditation and breathwork—tools she used to manage performance anxiety as a young dancer. This foundation shaped her understanding of yoga as a holistic practice. Key Insights: Yoga is an Eight-Limbed Path: While most people associate yoga with physical poses (asanas), Sally emphasizes that yoga encompasses eight elements, including ethical principles, breath control (pranayama), and meditation (dhyana). Actionable Tip: Explore breathwork and meditation alongside physical practice. Even a few minutes of mindful breathing can reduce stress and improve focus. Stillness is Powerful: The most challenging pose, according to Sally, is often shavasana (final relaxation). Lying still and being present is where true transformation happens. Actionable Tip: Don't skip shavasana! Allow yourself time at the end of each practice to rest and absorb the benefits. Yoga Sparks Creativity: Sally finds her best ideas come during moments of stillness, especially in shavasana. Actionable Tip: Use your yoga practice as a space for creative reflection. Keep a journal nearby to capture insights that arise. Yoga for Everyone: Breaking Down Barriers A recurring theme in the episode is the inclusivity of yoga. Sally is passionate about dispelling the myth that yoga is only for the flexible or physically adept. Key Insights: Yoga is for All Ages, Genders, and Abilities: The Yoga Effect welcomes everyone, regardless of experience or physical condition. Actionable Tip: If you're new or hesitant, start with a gentle or restorative class. These are designed to be accessible and supportive. Men in Yoga: While 70% of students are women, men are increasingly discovering the benefits, especially in restorative classes. Actionable Tip: Men: Try a restorative or gentle class. You might be surprised by the mental and physical benefits. No Need for Perfection: Yoga is about presence, not performance. Actionable Tip: Focus on how you feel, not how you look. Progress in yoga is measured by increased awareness and comfort, not by achieving advanced poses. Building Community Through Yoga The Yoga Effect is more than a studio—it's a hub for connection and support in Grayslake. Key Insights: A Welcoming Space: The studio's recent move to a larger, more accessible location reflects its commitment to serving the community. Actionable Tip: Engage with your local studio's events and social media. Community is built both inside and outside the classroom. Long-Term Relationships: Many students have practiced at The Yoga Effect since its founding, forming deep friendships and support networks. Actionable Tip: Attend workshops, retreats, or social events to deepen your connections. Supporting Local Businesses: The podcast highlights the interconnectedness of Grayslake's business community, from yoga studios to real estate agents and legal services. Actionable Tip: Support local businesses and participate in community events to foster a sense of belonging. Yoga and Running: A Powerful Partnership Sally's passion for running complements her yoga practice, illustrating how the two disciplines support each other. Key Insights: Running as Moving Meditation: For Sally, running is a form of meditation, offering clarity and presence. Actionable Tip: Try mindful running: focus on your breath and surroundings rather than speed or distance. Yoga for Runners: Yoga helps runners with flexibility, injury prevention, and recovery. Actionable Tip: Incorporate yoga stretches before and after runs. Attend yoga classes designed for athletes. Endurance and Willpower: Sally's experience with long-distance running underscores the mental strength developed through both yoga and running. Actionable Tip: Use yoga to build resilience and mental fortitude, skills that translate to all areas of life. Retreats, Workshops, and Lifelong Learning The Yoga Effect offers more than regular classes—it's a center for growth and exploration. Key Insights: Diverse Offerings: With 23–25 classes weekly and 15 teachers, there's something for every schedule and interest. Mann/Frau/Frau? Frau/Mann/Mann? Mann/Mann/Mann…….? Will ich nur zugucken? Schaff ich es überhaupt, mich um zwei Personen gleichzeitig zu kümmern? Was ist mit Verhütung? Wo soll die Sache stattfinden? Was redet man danach? In this episode, Guy welcomed back Reverend Bill McDonald. He shared his profound insights on the power of love, spiritual healing, and maintaining a high frequency to influence positive change in the world. He discussed the importance of focusing on love and light, even amidst global turmoil, and the transformative potential of self-love and meditation. Reverend Bill reflected on his personal experiences with healing, recounted stories from his spiritual journey, and emphasized the significance of living authentically and spreading positivity. This enlightening conversation aims to inspire listeners to embrace their inner potential and contribute to global well-being. About Rev. Bill: Rev. Bill's life has been a spiritual journey, spanning slightly over 7 decades. His whole life has been a mystical trip in search of gurus, the paranormal, and self-discovery. He has written about his many spiritually transforming experiences and “near-death experiences” including supernatural events during his combat tour-of-duty in the Vietnam War.  In his books he has shared some incredible spiritual events that are beyond both common understanding or explanation. His autobiography “Warrior A Spiritual Odyssey” takes us on a life quest for love, understanding, forgiveness and enlightenment. His follow-up book (Publishing date 2017) “Alchemy of a Warrior's Heart “continues that mystical journey including four trips to India for even more profound experiences with holy men, miracles and his personal relationship with the Divine. His books are also available in German and Spanish. What he knows for sure, after all these years, is that the only thing that is truly real is LOVE.  He speaks publicly about the need to forgive and power and energy of love. His mission in life is to inspire others to seek the Divine and he does that though his personal stories of his own life experiences.  He is a seeker but not just for himself. His “mission” is to allow others to experience his journey through his stories. He has had 3 near-death and near-death-like- experiences and many countless encounters with the supernatural. His beliefs are simple: There is but ONE GOD – and our only mission is to LOVE & SERVE ALL. Key Points Discussed:  (00:00) - Rev. Ireland's electric vehicle market is booming, with registrations up 69% in August and over 20,000 new EVs licensed so far in 2025 - a 37% increase year-on-year. With one in six new cars now electric, EVs are becoming the mainstream choice for both drivers and businesses. This rapid growth makes the return of the Nevo Electric Vehicle Show to Dublin's RDS Simmonscourt this November especially timely - uniting industry leaders, public sector decision-makers and consumers for Ireland's largest ever showcase of electric mobility, clean energy and sustainable transport. The Nevo Electric Vehicle Show, in partnership with Bank of Ireland, is set to return to Dublin's RDS Simmonscourt this November with its most ambitious programme yet. Running across two days, Friday 7th November for businesses and Saturday 8th November for the general public, it will be Ireland's largest ever event dedicated to electric vehicles, clean energy, and sustainable mobility. Bank of Ireland is once again the show's title partner in 2025 while SSE Airtricity will continue as the exclusive Energy Partner, reflecting the growing importance of energy solutions in driving Ireland's shift to electrification. Every automotive brand operating in Ireland will be present, alongside exhibitors spanning public and home charging, solar energy, personal and public electric transport, smart home technology and wider energy services. Business day, on Friday, 7 November, is designed to help businesses, fleets, and the Public Sector of all sizes plan for a sustainable future. With climate targets looming, the event will bring together CEOs, CFOs, Heads of Fleet and Sustainability from across Ireland. The agenda will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions and case studies from organisations already transitioning to electric mobility. Workshops will be hosted throughout the day by GEOTAB, ESB, SSE, Activ8 Energies and Pragmatica, covering topics such as fleet management, smart energy, and business strategy development. The goal is to empower decision-makers to accelerate their journey towards net zero while also gaining practical advice on costs, infrastructure, and policy. For the general public on Saturday, 8 November, the Nevo EV Show promises a full day of discovery, excitement and hands-on experiences. Over 120 electric vehicles will be on display across 56 stands, representing 34 car brands. Nissan is confirmed as the official vehicle launch partner this year, where the brand will unveil the all-new Micra and the latest Leaf, marking their first official appearance in Ireland, giving visitors an exclusive first look. More than 30 vehicles will be available to test drive as part of the SSE Airtricity Driving Experience, while ESB ecars will showcase 12 vehicles in the new live demonstration area with EV expert Derek Reilly offering insights into performance, design and features. Visitors can also look forward to exclusive vehicle launches from more leading brands, expert panel discussions on everything from vehicle grants to charging, and a chance to explore the very latest in sustainable transport solutions. Attendance is once again expected to be significant! Organisers are targeting 10,000 registrations for the business day and 20,000 attendees for the public day, backed by a nationwide marketing campaign and strong support from event partners including Bank of Ireland, SSE Airtricity, ESB ecars, GEOTAB, ZEVI and SEAI. The Nevo EV Show aims to build on the extraordinary success of last year's event, which attracted almost 20,000 visitors. With a broader programme, bigger displays and more vehicles than ever before, the 2025 edition is shaping up to be Ireland's definitive showcase of the electric future. Admission is free, but registration is required. Tickets for both the Business Day and Public Day are available now at nevo.ie.

The 5D Academy with Zarathustra explores universal wisdom to foster total freedom from suffering in all areas of your life; health, wealth, love, and self. Each Academy podcast contains valuable insights and takeaways to become the best version of yourself and create an authentic, fulfilling life. Zarathustra transmits 5th Dimensional Quantum frequencies in each episode with transformational tools while discussing different topics to help you maintain this new frequency in your daily life.Zarathustra has created a practical system of transmitting the truth to his audience allowing transformation and freedom from suffering. Spiritual development requires an open heart. It is virtually impossible for a seeker to advance to higher consciousness if they don't love themselves. The belief system which has been ingrained in our cellular memory from childhood that we are not good enough results in a conditioned mind. The conditioned mind holds the false belief that there is something missing in our lives, that we are incomplete, that we need to gain something in order to become happy and whole, which is not true. After a life time of searching, Zarathustra has blended a practical system of Eastern and Western methods and techniques to help the Academy members to free themselves from anxiety, negative thoughts, lack of self-love and self-acceptance and destructive emotional patterns through a systematic way to raise your vibration to 5D Vibrational Frequency, which enables you to live a vibrant life of freedom and happiness. The Key Elements To Freedom:Zarathustra recognizes continuity and consistency are the key elements to freedom. In order to help you achieve your spiritual goals, it's best to have a highly effective spiritual practice, free of dogmas, false beliefs and superstition that helps you raise your vibration to 5D Vibrational Frequency as well as the ability to maintain this newly found higher level of consciousness. This translates to a life filled with inner peace, self-love and happiness which is the goal of every spiritual seeker.New knowledge and benefits are gained with each replay. The world is full of masks and illusions — so how do we keep our hearts open without being devoured? In this episode, Rina explores the fine line between innocence and naïveté, and how true vulnerability is never about blind surrender. She unpacks the danger of being “too trusting” — recalling Professor William McMorran's study of Marquis de Sade, who deliberately preyed on the naïve. But just as destructive is the opposite extreme: becoming so cynical and guarded that no one ever gets close.Rina invites you into the art of sacred innocence — a way of opening fully without being exploited, of trusting without losing discernment, of risking intimacy without becoming someone's prey.Rina is a shibari artist, tantric bodyworker, former Dominatrix, and extreme sports athlete, learner of ancient traditions and intrepid explorer of consciousness. She guides people to their core, creating safe spaces for healing and self-discovery.This podcast is for courageous seekers like her, exploring meaning and spiritual illumination in the midst of life's intensity. Kicking off the new season with the spirited Adria Arjona for what was, incredibly, her first solo podcast ever. As someone whose face is literally on billboards outside my place currently, I found this fact both shocking and oddly kismet. It's a special treat to share this unexpected and refreshing punk rock side of her with you all. What you'll discover about Adria is that beyond being gorgeous – which, obviously – she's a dynamic, perceptive citizen of the world with a penchant for doing "bad things." And I mean that in the best possible way. She's the kind of person who makes you immediately start plotting how to become her best friend. Born in Puerto Rico, half Guatemalan, raised in Mexico, and shaped by a nomadic childhood following her father Ricardo Arjona on tour – one of the best-selling Latin American artists of all time – Adria learned early that home isn't a place, it's found in people and rituals. A lesson that serves her well in an industry that keeps her constantly moving between London, LA, and everywhere in between. There are SO many gems here, but a few that really stayed with me is how selling merch on her dad's tours taught her the art of hustling, a career-changing audition failure, and how producing has changed her as an actor for the better.   AOP SUBSTACK
