Inner development to become the change – Heather Lynch

Today, we are learning from Heather Lynch. Heather is deeply committed to creating a more regenerative world where people live in harmony with themselves, others, and nature. Her mission is to empower those working toward positive change to find greater happiness, fulfillment, and peace—helping them feel more aligned with the change they want to create in the world. She helps changemakers reconnect with themselves, to work in alignment with the change they want to see, and take inspired action towards systemic change. She previously spent 10 years working in international development and sustainability in corporates, start ups and government, but began to feel that her work wasn't addressing the root causes of the challenges she cared most deeply about. Alongside this, she struggled with climate grief, overwhelm, and feeling incongruent and unfulfilled in her change work. Heather has shifted her focus to supporting people who are trying to make the world a better place — helping them transform from the inside out, so that they can become the change they want to see in the world. Let's get started... In this conversation with Heather Lynch, I learned: 00:00 Intro 02:35 Her start at the large consultancy firm PWC. 04:40 Questioning whether she made an impact. 09:20 It starts with me. Where can I contribute? 12:30 Is focusing on inner development a selfish act? 15:40 Trying to make the business case for sustainability drained me. 17:00 Focus your time and energy on your circle of control. 20:00 If you are working towards something that matters to you, it brings people along the journey with you. 22:50 Be aware of your ego; when it comes up, choose how you want to respond to it. 28:00 We can't change the inevitable. But we can change how we respond. After all, life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react. - Charles Swindoll 29:20 I always have a choice about how I respond. 31:45 Finding training every day in how to respond, like with the puppy and starting with Zumba. 35:50 I became a corporate version of myself at PWC. 39:00 Getting away from the question, how do I have the biggest impact? 43:15 At the time, I didn't have enough emotional intelligence to manage the grief I was feeling about the state of the world, and to lean into the emotions 45:20 The people who have contributed the least to the world's problems are going to be the people who are most impacted. 46:25 “Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” - Rumi 51:05 What is your conditioned self versus your authentic self? 54:50 Four years, four themes in her life. 56:20 Our mind is 80% negative and 70% repetitive thoughts, based on the past. 1:02:15 The more I find inner peace with myself, the less external things I need. 1:04:50 Falling in love with nature. We are nature. 1:06:50 If you feel that you don't have enough, give something away.

Was genau ist Sichtbarkeit? Jede/r weiss inzwischen hoffentlich: don‘t fix the women, fix the system. Aber was heisst das konkret? Was ist unsere Vision? Folge 3/3: In diesem 3. Today we are visiting the city of Hilversum, in North Holland, the Netherlands to chat with our guest Mr. Juan Campoo. Juan is a transformational coach, trainer, and speaker who has dedicated his career to helping individuals achieve personal mastery and emotional freedom. Over a decade ago, Juan was a rising professional in the corporate world, and he seemed to have it all, yet his health told a different story. Having flirted with burnout and depression, he learned firsthand how vulnerable and fragile we can be. These experiences led him on a journey to learn the secrets of the body and mind, and to study how that all plays out in the workplace. Eight years into this journey, with more than a dozen certifications in mindset and behavior change under his belt, and after working with some of the most prestigious training and consulting firms in Europe on things like communication, influence, leadership, culture, and wellbeing—Juan came to a realization: We live in complex times and move toward ever more ambiguous futures, with mindsets we developed in the past. “THE WORLD IS ACCELERATING FASTER THAN OUR INNER DEVELOPMENT” So, Juan asked himself a question: How can we accelerate Inner Development so people can show sustainable impact in life and at work? This led him to develop and refine a revolutionary method that makes psychology simple and intuitive, helping people leverage their brain's ability to learn and change It's called “The Mind Canvas.” This methodology kick-starts and accelerates Emotional Intelligence, empowering well-being and contribution for individuals, teams, and organizations. The Mind Canvas soon became an Amazon-Best Selling book, led to a TEDx talk with +10K views, and was the basis for some groundbreaking transformational work with leaders around the world, granting Juan an award as Best Wellbeing Coach 2023 by CoachAwards. Born in Argentina and now a resident of The Netherlands, Juan is a devoted father and husband, on a mission to empower people and organizations to unleash their potential for well-being and positive impact. So TEAM ET please join Juan and me as we look at how we can find our inner accelerator and move beyond personal development. This week's guest, Jessica Bockler is one of those people who sparks every fire in my being - and i hope in yours, too.  Jessica is an applied theatre practitioner and transpersonal psychologist who co-founded the Alef Trust a globally-conscious non-profit organisation offering online graduate education programmes, and open learning courses for people who want really to step into what Indy Johar so beautifully calls the emergent edge of Inter-Becoming. Jessica is integral to the Nurturing the Fields of Change Programme that brings people together from diverse walks of life to create an emerging community of practice around change - and she's Programme Director for the Trust's academic programmes in Consciousness, Spirituality and Transpersonal Psychology. She teaches on a range of topics, bringing spiritual perspectives to activism and social change - so you can begin to see why I find her work so enthralling. She stands at that nexus where transpersonal psychology meets shamanic practice, where being and becoming are an art and a practice in themselves, grounded in modern science - not the reductive, Head Mind science of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, but twenty-first century science where complexity and systems thinking lie at the heart of all we do, where we recognise that only by becoming fully present in the moment, can we access the whole, vast intelligence of the All That Is and find what is ours to do. Jessica brings all this into being in social prescribing programmes, in theatre, in change facilitation, in the MSc at Liverpool John Moores University and in her daily life and she shares it in the conversation you're about to hear - including a clip of one of her own practices, that is solid podcasting gold.  If you're interested in finding out how we can access our own inner intelligence and build with others to co-create the foundations of that more flourishing future we'd be proud to leave behind, then this is the podcast for you.  ALEF Trust  https://aleftrust.org Nurturing the Fields of Change https://www.aleftrust.org/alef-applied/nurturing-the-fields-of-change-programme/MSc in Consciousness, Spirituality and Transpersonal Psychology https://www.aleftrust.org/academic-learning/masters-degree/Live Event: Healing Humanity, 1st June 2024, Broughton Sanctuary, Yorkshire eventbrite.co.uk/e/healing-humanity-imagination-embodiment-and-community-tickets-887551710057 Workshop: Embodied Imagination for Social Change, 2nd & 3rd September, Oxford eurotas2024.com/pre-post-conference-workshops/towards-emergence-embodied-play-and-sourcing-for-transformation Conference, 4 – 8 Sept, Oxford: Creative Bridges: embodied consciousness, psyche & soul in research and practice eurotas2024.comNational Academy for Social Prescribing https://socialprescribingacademy.org.uk/Inner Green Deal  https://innergreendeal.com/

Talking with the Swedish entrepreneur of the year in our fresh episode of 'New Horizons'! Must a company perpetually expand to be successful? Does the journey towards a more sustainable way of life also demand a personal commitment to growth? These are the thought-provoking questions we explored during our recent visit to ICEBUG. Additionally, you'll discover why communal mushroom foraging and jogging have become integral elements of daily life at ICEBUG. The key takeaway from our visit is that personal development and achieving a work-life-balance are not just aspirations but can be tangible realities. Our podcast host, Fabian Nendza, engaged in a conversation with David about ICEBUG's vision of a "planet in balance", the Inner Development Goals and their collaborative solar energy project in Vietnam.  Grab yourself a coffee and enjoy “Fika” with David Ekelund! BONUS: Embracing Change, A Conversation with Change Leader Susanne Taylor   In this episode, Susanne Taylor shares her profound experiences that have shaped her approach to change leadership. From navigating different environments to choosing change willingly, Susanne's life has been a testament to the inevitability and transformative power of embracing change. Embracing Change: A Natural State of Being Susanne enlightens us on the essence of change: it's not something we choose, but how we choose to react to it. By reframing our perspective on change, we can shift from a mindset of control and fear to one of adaptability and growth. This change in mindset holds the key to thriving in a world of constant transformation. As Scrum Masters and coaches, it's imperative to develop certain capabilities that allow us to navigate change effortlessly. Susanne imparts wisdom on slowing down, building trust, setting boundaries, and honing our ability to sense the subtle shifts in a room. Recognizing our own worth and understanding our interconnectedness are pivotal steps in mastering change. Change Leadership Susanne advocates for a unique form of leadership in times of change – one that embraces the unknown and prioritizes connection with others. She emphasizes the power of facilitation and reminds us that true change occurs when individuals choose to transform themselves. Susanne recommends “Flux: 8 Superpowers for Thriving in Constant Change” by April Rinne, a book that delves into the superpowers needed to thrive in a world of constant change. She also suggests exploring the 'Slomo' podcast and mentions the Inner Development Goals Summit in Stockholm. Parting Words of Wisdom Susanne leaves us with a powerful thought: "When you replace 'I' with 'we', even 'illness' becomes 'wellness'". She urges us to practice noticing connections in our lives, highlighting the profound impact that unity can have on our well-being. About Susanne Taylor Susanne is a transition coach, which translates to roles as: change management facilitator, organizational development consultant, scrum master, agile coach and community manager. Today we are learning from Julia Tew. Julia is a seasoned communications specialist and change catalyst. She's passionate about helping leaders and their organisations develop the awareness, skills and tools required to navigate an increasingly complex world, and about nurturing more resilient, inclusive and regenerative cultures through inner development and conscious communication methods. By harnessing the power of modalities such as systems thinking, storytelling and appreciative inquiry, Julia's mission is to help individuals, organisations and communities become more self-aware, to clarify their purpose and find their authentic voice - enabling them to co-create a more regenerative, equitable and thriving future for all. The diverse skills and experience Julia brings to the table have been gained during decades in management, consulting and entrepreneurial roles, while also walking her own inner development journey. She has studied, and continues her lifelong learning, with leading institutions teaching topics ranging from business sustainability, social innovation and the circular economy to systems thinking, regeneration and behavioural psychology. Julia has worked with or in industries ranging from food, agriculture, beauty and pharmaceuticals to publishing, financial services, recruitment and education. Impeccable wordsmithing standards, creativity and professionalism can be expected, together with strong media relations, crisis communications, branding and marketing experience. Current projects include supporting an NGO delivering green economy skills to underprivileged youth in South Africa, and consulting in the regenerative investment space, inter alia. Let's get started... In this conversation with Julia, I learned: The Inner Development Goals were developed by the global North and in many cases it is the global South that suffering even more from the crisis, many of wich are worsened by the global North. Africa has well-established concepts like Ubuntu and also deals with a lot of trauma. Possibly adding forgiveness to the IDGs, input from Africa. Long-term orientation is not always part of the culture in Africa. Inner compass and going inward, mindfulness, are more Western concepts. The wise voices of our ancestors are not in the IDG. What happens to me, happens to we. (Ubuntu) Ubuntu is systems thinking and going back to the whole. The disconnect from the whole has gotten us into this mess. What happens to you, is probably going to affect me. Look at the case study of Ghana. Who are the leaders, what are they doing differently? It's Africa's time. The giant is awaiting. The Golden Rule is the principle of treating others as one wants to be treated. Allow Africa to want to bring their living standards that are acceptable and comfortable. This requires a rebalancing. Solopreneurs in the pilot of the four day week. The future of work will look different. The younger generations are challenging the way we work. Inner change leads to outer change. Are you listening? Laten we beginnen… Waarom gebruiken we zoveel materialen?

Laten we beginnen… Levensverhalen delen - the river of life. Founder of modem conclusa gmbh, as a pioneer in sustainability consulting and communication; internal and external communication.  Being enthusiastic about sustainable management and ecological-social lifestyles as a creative act in the sense of building, caring for, and honoring is what drives her. Her professional recipe for success consists of three basic ingredients: the knowledge and experience of the importance of nature shaped by vitality, the intensive study of (eco)systemic mechanisms of action, the ability to combine creativity and strategy, seasoned with a lot of courage and deep empathy. She finds it particularly nurturing to maintain close, cooperative relationships with farmers in her town and to have been trained as a "temporary cheesemaker". Enjoy the insights of Andrea. Laten we beginnen… In gesprek met Andrea leerde ik: She is into the natural spirituality Follow the resonance. There is an individual tempo and planting seeds turn into individual healthy development. She doesn't talk about greenwashing. Everyone starts somewhere and then it evolves. Andrea is not fundamental. Fundamentalism destroys growth and development. She rather asks questions to bring the people along. modem conclusa; modus = the way you do things; conclude = invite people to draw their own conclusions, and not to persuade. Sometimes it is good to learn the opposite of what you want to do; it strengthens you. Perspective thinking means for Andrea, diving into the perspective of how other people are thinking. Why is it so hard for us (in the Western World) to feel enough? Trust comes from the feeling there is enough. Michael Braungart: "In nature, there is always enough." We have lost the practical skills. With our basic skills, there is always a social interconnection. If we help each other with these basic skills we form a community. Be aware of the basic skills of others in the company. IDG is the best framework developed and it brings the light on kills we all have. Starting each meeting with 3 minutes of silence. Experience the value of slowing down before the meeting. De IDG's are very inviting. The V. World Organic Forum have put the SDGs and IDGs on their agenda for the forum in 2023 Avoids the words making the world better - she asks questions about the status quo, are you content with it? Do you hear enough laughter in your company? The organic companies are from the outer to the inner. Traditional companies it is more from the inner to the outer. How do we get out of the pressure for the SDG's? We need patience too, pressure paralysis. We need dynamic balance. See the book of Paul Behrens - The best of times, the worst of times. Andrea limits her media consumption. It helps her to be mentally healthier. If we make a business out of the IDG's, we are lost. Make people more curious, instead of saying how you should do this. Invite people to come to inner development. She uses it when she feels it is the right moment. She is not creating a concept. We should go back to more experimenting. CWS Virtual Side Event (Zoom)  The Necessity of Inner Development for the Full Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)  February 7, 2023 1:15 - 2:30 PM EST CSocD 61 Priority Theme Creating full and productive employment and decent work for all as a way of overcoming inequalities to accelerate the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic & the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development   Event Concept Note At a point approximately halfway through the 15 year time period to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is critical that all actors strategize around full implementation and achievement of the 2030 Agenda. Leveraging highly effective partnerships and applying lessons learned from the first seven years of the SDGs are necessary, and community-level engagement and leadership will continue to be critical. The role of the individual, and their personal journey toward their sustainable development will also be a critical lens for program design and implementation over the second half, and throughout the final years leading up to 2030.   The interconnectivity of the goals is also inextricably linked to the complexities of each person and their own capacities, interests, goals and lived experience - to name a few. This session will look at the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) as a key means to help the world achieve the SDGs.    The IDGs (https://www.innerdevelopmentgoals.org/) concern each humans' 1) being; 2) thinking; 3) relating; 4) collaborating, and; 5) acting. These five areas of the individual will be the lynchpin to help sustainably shift toward sustainable interests, habits, efforts, and unleash creativity and innovation.  Panelists will discuss how program models and approaches have shifted since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda in 2015 and how the role of program participants - as individuals - has shifted, including their roles in program design, community leadership and their personal goal setting and action. This will take into consideration inequity in access to basic services and disproportionate consequences - especially for marginalized and displaced people. This will be explored through several perspectives of our speakers with different backgrounds.   Speakers   Maurice A. Bloem, Chief Sustainability and Impact Officer, Church World Service (moderator) Dr. Michael Trice, Director of the Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement, Spehar-Haliligan Associate Professor, Seattle University Ntombentsha “Portia” Tengani, RDP Project Manager, Church World Service Africa  Sophia Robele, Foresight Specialist Consultant, UNDP Wardah Khalid - Foreign Affairs Officer at the US Department of State, but during this event she (re)presented: Founder and Board President, Poligon Education Fund

Khen Rinpoche Geshe Kachen Lobzang Tsetan is Abbot of the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in Bylakuppe, in southern India. He is a Tibetan Buddhist monk from Ladakh, India, who has lived and taught in the United States for more than fifteen years. He began his monastic life at age seven in Stok, his family village.  At age thirteen he joined the Stok Monastery to study and memorize Buddhist scriptures. In 1952, when he was sixteen years old, he walked with his father from Ladakh to Shigatse, Tibet, to enter the famous Tashi Lhunpo Monastery. The 800-mile trek took them over two months to complete. Khen Rinpoche Tsetan received his novice monk vows there and studied Buddhist philosophy at the monastery's Skilkhang College with many prominent Tibetan scholars. Once back in the village of his birth, he studied tantric practices and joined the School of Buddhist Philosophy in Choglamsar where he studied for seven years. Due to the fact that the Buddhist tradition in Ladakh is dependent on the Tibetan lineage of teachers to transmit and bestow higher Buddhist degrees, it was necessary for him to leave Ladakh again in 1970 in pursuit of the Geshe training. From 1974-1978 he taught high school in Ladakh. Then he met with a special invitation to come to the United States and teach at the first Tibetan Buddhist learning center in America, Labsum Shedrub Ling, in Washington, New Jersey. He went in hopes of learning English and completing his Geshe degree studies. He accomplished both, and in 1984 he returned to the Drepung Monastery for commencement. Since that time Khen Rinpoche Tsetan has been living and teaching in the United States from October to June and returning to Ladakh during the summer months to oversee activities at the Siddhartha School/Choskor Stok school he founded in 1996. While in the States, he has divided his time between Maine and New York City with additional teaching trips to Amhurst, MA, and other areas of the U.S.  His association with the Manjushri Center in Amherst has provided him with extensive teaching positions and lecturing opportunities at a number of schools including Smith, Bowdoin, Amherst, Hampshire, Drew, Maine College of Art, Bangor Theological Seminary, Phillips Exeter Academy, Deerfield Academy, and others. In 1996 shortly after founding the Siddhartha School in Stok, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, appointed then Geshe Tsetan to be the Abbot of the new Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in India. This was a great honor for him, and one that was humbly set aside so that he could devote himself completely to the Siddhartha School. The Dalai Lama gave his blessings and support. His title became Khen Rinpoche Geshe Kachen Lobzang Tsetan, and he has assumed his new responsibilities, over-seeing the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in exile. Since summer 2005 he has worked ceaselessly to fulfill the charge of increasing the number of monks at Tashilhunpo, the poorest of the Tibetan monasteries in exile, and of raising the funds for their support.
