Today's episode centers an important voice in the still-unfolding story of Jeffrey Epstein. Virginia Roberts Giuffre survived abuse at the hands of Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and a number of powerful men. Giuffre died by suicide earlier this year. But before her death, she wrote a memoir called Nobody's Girl. In today's interview with NPR's Leila Fadel, Giuffre's collaborator on the project, Amy Wallace, and her brother, Sky Roberts, share what it was like for Giuffre to write about what she endured. To listen to Book of the Day sponsor-free and support NPR's book coverage, sign up for Book of the Day+ at plus.npr.org/bookofthedayLearn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy

Virginia Roberts Giuffre's allegations against her father, Sky Roberts, form one of the most painful elements of her memoir Nobody's Girl. In it, she writes that the abuse began when she was a young child and continued for years, leaving her emotionally broken and distrustful of the people who were supposed to protect her. She describes her father as someone who manipulated her sense of love and loyalty, creating confusion and fear. This betrayal, she explains, destroyed the foundation of safety that every child should have, and it became the earliest chapter of the exploitation that would later consume her life. Her account frames the abuse as the beginning of a long cycle of predation — one that made her susceptible to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell's manipulation as a teenager.Sky Roberts has categorically denied the accusations, calling them false and saying he is devastated by the claims. Despite his denials, Virginia maintains that her father's actions were a key part of the trauma that defined her adolescence and adulthood. She says that being violated by someone within her own family conditioned her to accept mistreatment from others, because she no longer believed she deserved safety or respect. Her allegations have reignited painful conversations about generational abuse and how early trauma can make victims easier targets for predators later in life. For Giuffre, confronting this chapter publicly appears to be both an act of truth-telling and a step toward reclaiming power after years of silence and exploitation.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Virginia Giuffre accuses her father of abuse and of taking Epstein hush money in new memoir | The Independent

This week’s episode is one of the most emotional and powerful yet. Granger sits down with his wife, Amber Smith to talk about the release of her brand-new book, The Girl on the Bathroom Floor — a raw and redemptive story of grief, surrender, and finding God’s purpose in unimaginable loss. Together, they open up about the pain of losing their son River, the healing that came through Amber’s faith, and how God met her in her deepest sorrow with the words: “Enough. Seek Me.” Amber shares the meaning behind the book’s title, the story of meeting one of River’s kidney recipients, and the powerful lessons of hope and redemption that have emerged from their suffering. They also discuss the harsh criticism that comes with sharing their story publicly — including accusations of “profiting off tragedy” — and how they’ve learned to respond with grace and truth. If you’ve ever faced loss, doubt, or the question of how God could bring beauty from brokenness, this episode will deeply move you. ********************************************** CONNECT WITH MY PODCAST: Instagram► https://instagram.com/GrangerSmithPod YouTube► https://www.YouTube.com/@UCD1JSCn257RlatavklMALyg My NEW BOOK HERE▶ www.grangersmith.com APPAREL™️ GEAR ▶ https://YeeYeeApparel.com SUBSCRIBE HERE ▶ http://smarturl.it/gschannelsubscribe Subscribe to my family channel here ▶ http://youtube.com/TheSmithsTV TALK TO ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA: Instagram► https://instagram.com/GrangerSmith Facebook► https://facebook.com/GrangerSmith Twitter► https://twitter.com/GrangerSmith Website► https://GrangerSmith.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On today's episode as part of the Fit Girl Fall series, I'm sitting down to discuss how much protein you actually need to be eating per day if your goal is to lose fat and lean out. When it comes to protein, unfortunately much of the advice online makes you think that you need to eat like a bodybuilder to get fit – when that's the farthest from the truth. Instead, today's episode is going to walk you through three simple approaches to figuring out how much protein you actually should be eating per day, whether or not you want to track your calories or macros. You'll walk away knowing how to set a protein goal that's realistic for your lifestyle, feels workable even if you're busy, and actually sets you up for lasting fat loss based on science. Plus I'm also sharing the one benchmark that puts you ahead of 90% of dieters and address why protein is important… but if you don't also address this one thing it could hold you back from results. TVC 709.6: Part 2 of a conversation that began last week with Emmy Award-winning actress, producer, and author Mariette Hartley (The Incredible Hulk, Goodnight, Beantown, Breaking the Silence, Law and Order: SVU). In this segment, Mariette talks to Ed about “Cotter's Girl,” the classic episode of Gunsmoke from 1963 whose storyline is reminiscent of Pygmalion; her frequent appearances on shows produced by Quinn Martin; and her association with Rod Serling, which began when Mariette asked Serling to speak at her school after she had watched Requiem for a Heavyweight on television, and which culminated about ten years later, when Mariette appeared in “The Long Morrow,” one of the final episodes of The Twilight Zone. Mariette Hartley co-stars, co-wrote, and co-produced, along with her husband Jerry Sroka, in Our (Almost Completely True) Love Story, a charming romantic comedy that is available now for streaming on demand on Amazon Prime and other major platforms; it is also available on DVD and Blu-ray.
Don Ladolcetta Don Ladolcetta's new book, Hannah: The Lighthouse Girl of Newfoundland, tells the story of a young girl who doesn't know what to expect when her family moves to an isolated lighthouse on the rugged Newfoundland coast. What she discovers is a life filled with adventure, wonder—and danger. SARAH Facing everything from the fury of Mother Nature to illness, the Great Depression, and World War II, Hannah must find the strength to follow her dreams. When a stunning loss upends her world, Hannah decides to take a bold step along a new path. In the tradition of Little House on the Prairie and Anne of Green Gables, this novel of a spirited girl growing into a strong woman is based on a true story. In fact, Hannah was Don's mother, and the book is inspired by true family lore and is sprinkled with cultural insights.

In Nobody's Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice, Virginia Giuffre opens up about the full, unrelenting scope of her trauma — the kind that doesn't fade with time or distance. She writes about how, for years after escaping Jeffrey Epstein's orbit, the abuse followed her in the form of brutal, recurring nightmares. These dreams, she says, weren't abstract or distant; they were graphic replays of the hell she endured. In them, she relives the moments of being trapped and powerless — “greedy, heaving men on top of me,” as she describes in one passage — faces of powerful men she says she could never forget no matter how much therapy or time passed. These weren't just faceless monsters in her dreams, but the same influential figures who smiled for cameras by day and committed atrocities behind closed doors. Each nightmare pulled her back into that same room, that same suffocating darkness, where her voice was taken and her body wasn't hers to protect.Giuffre writes that even as she built a life beyond Epstein, married, and became a mother, the shadows of her past crept into every quiet moment. The nightmares would come without warning, often triggered by a sound, a smell, or a fleeting image — and they would leave her in tears, shaking and gasping for air. In Nobody's Girl, she describes waking up drenched in sweat, her heart pounding, the faces of her abusers flashing before her eyes. The emotional toll was relentless: feelings of shame, self-blame, and fear blended into a kind of nightly punishment for crimes she never committed. Through therapy, advocacy, and confronting her past publicly, she began to reclaim fragments of peace — but even then, she admits that healing isn't clean or complete. Her nightmares became both a curse and a reminder: a symbol of the damage inflicted not just by Epstein and Maxwell, but by the entire system of enablers who let it happen.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Prince Andrew accuser Virginia Giuffre claimed she was haunted by images of 'greedy, heaving men' who abused herBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.

Kevin's still celebrating his birthday, Andy's back behind the mic, and somehow the guys end up debating Hallmark movies, Wi-Fi, and whether Joe Rogan controls their lives. Add in dad tips, relationship burns, and a classic Florida headline mystery, and you've got a vintage Cup to Cup episode—loud, dumb, and perfect.

Ep 232 | This week on Discover Ag, Natalie and Tara dig into viral apple-splitting techniques, controversial rodeo documentaries, farm wellness tourism, and laser fruit labeling technology --- with their usual dose of snark and sincerity. From Apple Girl Kait's viral fruit-splitting powers (spoiler: the hosts can't replicate it) to the realities of 20-year apple farming lifecycles and GMO solutions for browning, the agriculture education is real. Then they dive into Boot Barn's "Hell on Wheels" docuseries featuring bad boy bareback rider Rocker Steiner, European-style agritourism booming in America, and whether luxury farm stays help or hinder consumer understanding of production agriculture. The episode wraps with Australia's innovative laser fruit labeling technology that could eliminate 110 tons of plastic sticker waste annually, plus a heated debrief on Glyphosate Girl's attack on Luke Bryan's Bayer partnership. From terminology debates (herbicide vs. pesticide) to food stylists fuming over etched fruit, it's another week of agriculture meeting pop culture with plenty of contradictions along the way.. WOKE School Board PANICS when activists STRIP DOWN to protest against TRANSGENDERS in Girl's Sports!
Jason Wood turned his battle with orthorexia into a mission to break the stigma around men's mental health by publishing his memoir Starving for Survival. He is proud to serve on the board for Running in Silence, Michigan Eating Disorder Alliance, and SoulPaws Recovery Project. Jason is also the Director of Community Engagement at ANAD and facilitates the organization's new men's peer support group. Through speaking engagements, his writing, and his work, Jason strives to start an important conversation that encourages everyone--especially men--to speak up, share their stories, and get the help they deserve. Our Hosts, Linda and John Mazur, and Ellen Bennett, discuss various mental health issues—eating disorders, anxiety, depression, suicide, substance and alcohol use disorders. This team has a combined experience of over thirty-five years in dealing with eating disorders and their co-morbidities. They share their insights on anorexia, grief, advocacy, and the significance of finding support networks. The podcasts feature interviews with mental health experts, authors, and individuals with lived experiences. Linda, John, and Ellen emphasize the need for improved community awareness and the benefits of strong interpersonal connections. Join us as we start the conversations to end the pervasive shame and stigma associated with mental health issues as we strive to improve mental health care and learn to embrace, better understand, and support those who struggle, and those who love them. Let's help each other pick up the pieces and discover new pathways to healing.Linda and John Mazur advocate locally, nationally, and internationally. They serve as community advisory board members of the Western New York Comprehensive Care Center for Eating Disorders. They attended President Biden's Speech, Improving Access for Mental Health Care, in 2023. They have spoken at eating disorder conferences, and for community groups regarding the importance of eating disorder and mental health awareness, advocacy, and education. They provide peer support groups for adults and families through their non-profit, The Emilee Connection, as well as connect people to resources. They wish these supports were available for their adult daughter, Emilee, and for them, as her parents. It takes a village of support to help someone through a mental health struggle. They honored their daughter's last wish by writing a memoir with her writings included, so it might bring awareness to the things that need to change, in the hope that no one else would have to suffer as she did.The Mazur's can be reached at: Linda.John.Mazur@gmail.comTo learn more about their nonprofit visit: www.TheEmileeConnection.comTheir book and audiobook : Emilee - The Story of a Girl and Her Family Hijacked by Anorexia: Mazur, Linda, Mazur, John, Mazur, Emilee: 9781700920126: Amazon.com: BooksTheir book website www.EmileetheStoryofaGirl.comEllen Bennett is an advocate, speaker, retired educator, and director of KMB for Answers which is a non-profit foundation providing educational and financial support for mental health professionals as well as assistance for families in search of resources.
