Can grief and joy co-exist? Can families rediscover their joy after experiencing unthinkable tragedy? When our pain feels so intense we struggle to breath, we might fear we don't have the strength to carry on, the Lord comes beside us and speaks truth and love into our wounded souls. Amber Smith, wife to country music singer Granger Smith, experienced this in a profound way when she and her husband lost their precious toddler son in a tragic drowning accident. Their son's death could've shattered their marriage and their family. But because of God and His grace prior, during, and since that time, their relationship not only survived, but came out stronger. In this episode she shares how Christ carried them through and enabled them to heal and experience renewed joy. Every girl will face fear—whether it's speaking up in class, standing up to a bully, trying something new, or stepping into leadership. But the true measure of courage isn't the absence of fear—it's learning how to move forward with fear, leaning on God's strength instead of shrinking back in doubt.  In this episode of the Raising Godly Girls Podcast, co-hosts Rachael Culpepper and Natalie Ambrose tackle the topic of courage head-on, exploring how parents can help their daughters face giants with faith. Drawing from Scripture, personal stories, and AHG's own legacy of raising strong, Godly women, they remind us that God doesn't call our girls to avoid fear—He calls them to trust Him in the midst of it.  Rachael and Natalie reflect on what cowardice looks like in today's culture, how trauma requires a gentle approach, and why resilience is best cultivated at home before our daughters step into the wider world. You'll also hear how the AHG Program develops courage in girls through meaningful service, leadership, and discipleship opportunities—including the Stars & Stripes Award and sharing insight on the For Girls Like You program alliance.  Whether your daughter's giant is stage fright, peer pressure, or self-doubt, this conversation will equip you to inspire her toward bravery, remind her that God has called her to hard and holy things, and show her that real courage means stepping forward—even when fear tags along.  Scripture Referenced in This Episode:  Deuteronomy 1:19–33   James 1:2–4   This Week's Reminders:  Fear will always be present—but it doesn't have to be in charge.  Resilience in your daughter grows when you model courage in your own life.  God equips girls not to avoid fear, but to lean into His strength when it comes.  Explore more resources to raise girls rooted in Christ at raisinggodlygirls.com.  To find or start an AHG Troop in your area, visit americanheritagegirls.org.

You can take the girl off of the ranch, but you can't take the cow trails out of her metaphors. When Lindsay shared that the first time her son stepped onto a sidewalk he called it a “cow trail for people,” we knew we were in for a good one. This episode isn't about slowing down or speeding up, but finding your footing when everything familiar shifts. From feed store counters to city sirens, we're unpacking what happens when convenience meets capacity, and why your best practices still apply … even when your groceries can be delivered to your doorstep. This week we welcome Lindsay Garber, formerly a top-tier ranch wedding photographer, and now the fourth-generation force inside her family's western wear & feed store in Albuquerque. She's traded gravel roads for Trader Joe's, but what grounds her is the same: purpose, people, and a love for the culture that raised her.Together we explore why leaving town won't fix a life that's running on fumes, and why the basics still matter whether groceries are a seven-hour round trip or seven minute away. We talk about context over tactics, conversation as a catalyst, and how retail has its own seasonality: chickens, rodeo, fairs, film crews, and yes, the surprise delight of French cowboys. Through it all runs a throughline we live by at Cowgirls Over Coffee: when the landscape shifts, your practice (water, sleep, vegetables, reflection, and real connection!) keeps you steady.Listen In For …Why swapping ranch life for city life changes the scenery but not the work of caring for your capacity. How conversation functions like binoculars, giving you context so you can actually see what's coming.A practical reminder that the “next level” still runs on the same basics: sleep, hydration, nourishment, and honest check-ins.The difference between exhaustion on the ranch and monotony in town, and how to break both with intentional moments of awe. What retail teaches about seasons (spring chicks to fall fairs to pilot season) and how to plan without losing presence. The store as tether: how tending a legacy space can anchor identity and community in the middle of a metro. Why mastering yourself outperforms mastering the hustle, especially when opportunities arrive faster because you planned well.A gentle reframe for over-capable women: you don't need a 12-step overhaul; you need faithful follow-through on what already works.TL;DR (Minute by Minute)04:30 Lindsay's move: from “most rural” New Mexico to the heart of Albuquerque; what changed and what didn't.09:40 Context over geography: leaving town won't solve capacity problems without deliberate practices.15:20 Conversation as a tool: the “binoculars” for seeing the ship; tactics make sense once you have context.21:35 City monotony vs. ranch exhaustion: different drains with the same antidote: intentional rest and wonder.27:10 Retail seasons 101: chickens, rodeo, fairs, film crews … and the unexpectedly punchy French cowboys.32:45 Legacy as anchor: keeping a 75-year family business human in a humming city.38:50 The faithful basics: water, sleep, vegetables, and how simple habits power real next-level growth.43:30 Wrap-up + invitation to carry the conversation forward.Where to Go From HereJoin the conversation: What did this conversation remind you to tend? But unbeknownst to Skylar, it turns out her parents are actually monster hunters, and by destroying their equipment Skylar has unleashed all manner of evil spirits onto the town, as well as restored Skylar's sense of fear at the worst possible time. Will Skylar be able to conquer her fears and face the monsters? Will the Halloween party at the old McQuarry Mansion still go ahead? And does anyone want to buy some slightly used orbs? In this episode, I'm excited to be joined by Emily Harrington, one of the most successful and versatile professional climbers in the world. Emily discusses the pressure of failure and perfectionism in motherhood, pregnancy, and postpartum, which are common experiences among mothers. Join us to hear this beautiful conversation about life at the intersection of motherhood and elite athleticism in a largely male-dominated sport. Emily Harrington is a five-time US National Champion, has completed numerous first female ascents of 5.14 routes, summited Mt. Everest, and made a complete ski descent of Cho Oyu, the world's sixth-tallest peak. She made history when she became the first woman to free-climb “Golden Gate on El Capitan in under 24 hours. The movie about Emily's career, Girl Climber, is screening at IMAX theaters and various cinemas through the end of the year. It will be available on JOLT starting on October 15 and will be available for full streaming in November. Emily currently resides in Tahoe City, CA, where she spends her time training, climbing, and skiing with her husband and young son.  Show Highlights: Common assumptions about what moms “can/can't” do Emily's journey as a climber, which started at age 10 Thinking about having a baby as a natural part of life The 7-year plan to climb El Capitan—and then have a baby A plan for modified climbing and running as her pregnant body changed Approaching pregnancy from a place of curiosity Feeling unprepared for what came after childbirth Breastfeeding and sleep challenges—and dealing with unsolicited advice Emily's way of dealing with others' judgments and comparisons Parallels between climbing and motherhood Letting go of perfection to find more peace “Enjoying the struggle and embracing failure” Girl Climber: how it tells the story that we all go through failure, and we can show that with honesty and vulnerability Climbing: a sport that is growing in popularity and accessibility What Emily wants other moms to know Resources: Connect with Emily Harrington: Instagram and the screening schedule for Girl Climber Call the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-TLC-MAMA or visitcdph.ca.gov.
