Irish-based sales performance, efficiency and planning start-up Lative has raised $3 million in seed funding led by Elkstone Ventures to automate the B2B sales planning and execution process in real-time. Lative has developed powerful and easy-to-use cloud-based sales performance, efficiency and planning software that helps B2B revenue teams monitor and improve sales performance. It allows users to understand their sales performance, cost efficiency and return on investment (ROI) with real-time risk and opportunity assessment, as well as easily simulate future capacity and investment plans with far higher accuracy than how it's currently done within organisations today. The software connects top-down revenue plans and targets to bottoms-up performance and costs, empowering companies to boost sales productivity, maximise every dollar spent, and plan with precision and purpose. Lative recognises the need for combining planning with execution within sales organisations and has built the platform to solve this need. Historically, this has been a top-down approach which Lative acknowledges is an inaccurate and inefficient method and leads to expensive mistakes. Instead, the company takes the customers' actual bottom-up data in real-time in order to build accurate capacity plans and see the impact of strategic initiatives on sales productivity and return on investment. This is not a once-off solution, but can be used consistently to monitor sales performance and efficiency as the company grows and changes. Currently, there are a growing number of companies on the platform including EnterpriseDB, Oneflow and Saleshood. Lative will continue to improve and deepen their integrations with strategic technology partners Salesforce and Snowflake, as well as continue to expand their broader integration partner ecosystem with a range of CRMs, ERPs, Finance and HR systems. With the funding, Lative intends to invest in its go-to-market strategy and further development of the platform. This funding will also enable Lative to build an integral insights and benchmarking module which will improve decision-making by sales teams. Lative was co-founded in 2022 by former colleagues Werner Schmidt (led revenue operations and sales enablement for high-growth SaaS businesses like Sage and Citrix), and Laura Tortosa Sancho (led multiple sales operations functions at Sage and was a senior consultant at Deloitte). Both founders have extensive revenue operations backgrounds and consistently struggled firsthand with the issues that Lative now solves. Werner Schmidt, CEO & co-founder of Lative said, "As economic conditions have changed in recent years, for B2B sales teams sales productivity and efficiency has gone from an afterthought to a critical success factor. Lative connects revenue plans to performance and costs in real-time so that you can focus on making the right decisions or course correct at the right times to achieve your revenue and profitability goals." Elkstone Ventures (Flipdish, LetsGetChecked, Manna) led the funding round, with participation from Enterprise Ireland, new investor Handshake Ventures (Beautiful.ai, 1Qbit, SteamElements), and existing investors WestWave Capital, Future Five and various Scouts and Angels from Sequoia, EQT, Sage, GoTo, Contentful and others were also involved in the funding round, including Kasper Hulthin (founder of Peakon, Podio and Kost) and Vernon Bubb (Stage2 Capital, Managing Director EMEA at Clari) who are both on the board of Lative, and Warren Weiss (founder, GP at WestWave Capital). Niall McEvoy, Partner at Elkstone Ventures said, "Lative is making sales teams more efficient, by replacing spreadsheets with software that can drastically improve sales results. The platform is potentially category-defining for sales team management. Werner and Laura are real domain experts with decades of relevant sector experience. Customers speak highly of the transformational impact of the solution " Jenny Melia, Execut...

In this podcast episode I am discussing with Oren Greenberg (London, UK): How do we get the marketing to create a massive pull effect that people leave their comfort zone in order to become clients or passionate employees of this startup. Who is Oren Greenberg? Oren has a highly regarded digital strategy and commercial expertise to offer. His Marketing Consulting is based in London (UK). Oren is a On-Demand CMO, Startup Investor & Advisor. He also a mentor in Virgin Startup, which is a not-for-profit company (founded by Richard Branson) supporting entrepreneurship in the UK . He spends his days helping FTSE 250s and funded startups to navigate the perilous waters of growth and marketing. He has contributed to the growth of client brands including Investec Bank, Peakon, Wonga, Wink Bingo, Nutmeg, Funding Circle, MarketInvoice and innovation incubation projects within Canon, HomeServe. Oren knows how handle the big games in marketing as he managed over £10M marketing budgets. His impressive achievement included paid search campaigns with over 13.7 million key phrases. He is also knowledgable on organic traffic growth and scaling paid search delivery. Oren has been featured in The Telegraph, Social Media Examiner and the HubSpot blog. Oren Greenberg is an instructor on Skillshare and Jolt. This episode's train of thought: Our conversation matches todays challanges of new businesses that are in a situation "David vs Goliath". The discussions concept is based on a scenario where a startup enters a market. 3 big competitors have split up the market betweeen each other (Ratio 100% = 40-30-20-X). Theoretically there is still 10% of untapped market share and a potential that disatisfied customer base and frustrated employees might decide to shift over to the startup. This is where we discuss how such a startup can successfully move up to taking the place of #3 in the market. The startup presumably has sufficient funds through investors. The challange of the business is not money but actually getting clients (60% B2C + 40% B2B) and skilled workers (e.g. engineers, IT, marketeers, etc.). Episode descriptionIn this episode, you'll hear me talk with six of the hottest startups at the Slush 2019 tech conference in Helsinki, Finland. These include: a mobile app and Alexa skill to track your carbon footprint from your purchases; an automatic podcast creation product that uses text to speech to transform your blog posts into full podcast episodes; a wonderful UK startup that helps children to say what's on their minds and report abuse; an ID verification system that makes you pull funny faces to authenticate; a multimodal human emotion detection system from Russia that measures speech, gesture, heart rate and breathing to outperform some of the big tech players; and a super cool tactile sensor that lets you communicate with your autonomous car by touching it in different ways. It was an amazing event, and the Finns are justifiably proud of Slush, with over 25,000 attendees from around the world, and easily taking the title for best looking tech conference. It was surprising how few voice startups there were at the event, until I realised that both Alexa and Google Assistant do not support the Finnish language. And while they all speak perfect english, their accent can cause problems with the speech recognition. Despite the overwhelming advances in technology, we still haven’t made much progress in really knowing what people are thinking. While machine powered analytics can parse through an ocean of data to give insights on behaviors and tendencies, if we really want to know what someone is thinking – we’ve got to ask. The ability to survey a population provides huge insights into understanding the what and why of any particular population. Decades ago savvy, marketing experts realized that surveying customers would help them better understand their target audience. However, the value of the data was never in the asking, but in the listening. By listening and acting on the survey/review data, organizations have found great success in making sure they only produce goods/services that customers want to buy. Recently, organizations have caught on to the idea that this same principle applies to its employees. For companies that are cognizant of the mission-critical importance of the Employee Experience, being able to survey their employees is a huge advantage. By asking the right questions, organizations can gain insights into the lives/well-being of its workforce, these insights can drive change and produce a positively boost employee engagement. Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as just asking employees questions and figuring out what to do with the answers. The factors that affect each employees experience are numerous. Being able to piece together a series of questions where the answers accurately reflect an employee’s experience or level of engagement is no small feat. One of the main difficulties of getting good date from your employees is asking the right question. The other major element to gathering survey data was highlighted by a recent guest on our podcast Kasper Hulthin, cofounder and Chief Growth Office of Peakon. He said that people don’t respond to a survey to give feedback, rather they respond to a survey to be heard. If employees don’t see meaningful change to prove that management is listening to their responses, they will stop giving honest answers. When employers ask for employees to take the time to let them know how everything is going, employers must respect that effort; otherwise, future survey attempts will be fruitless. To hear the rest of Kasper’s episode, visit us at Forging Employee Experience. Feel free to reach out to Kasper through LinkedIn or visit www.peakon.com. Surveying employees is a powerful tool (and currently the only tool) in understanding how to improve the employee experience. To harness that potential, organizations must ensure that their questions are expertly crafted to provide meaningful insights and that once they have those insights, they make actual changes to prove to their people that they are listening. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/forgeant/support
