Let's get started.Lesley Logan 0:48 Hi, Be It babe. How are you? Happy Friday. Happy February 6th. I'm super excited to chat with you today. I mean, like, something about February is just really nice because, like, okay, we're in this. We we're in it, we're in the month, we're in the new year, we're in all the things. And there's lots of stuff going on, you know, always, but you made it. You're here. And it's the day that we celebrate things, we're inspired by things we like, kind of have a loose agenda. Fridays are the days I like to reflect on the week. That's why it's a great day to, like, celebrate something you did do, because you did something great. I know you did. Especially since most of our listeners are women, I thought this would be a fun thing for us to look at together. So let me pull up my inspiration. You know, inspirations don't always have to be exciting. This one is interesting, and I think important for us to know. So women are 51% of the population, but 60% of the poor. Women are 83% of single parents, doing 66% of the work, producing 50% of the food, but earn just 11% of the pay and own only 20% of the land, all while giving birth to 100% of the population. In case you wondered why we still need feminism. And I share this because, look, I I think it's amazing if you want to choose to to not have a traditional work job, like if you're going to like work from home or things like that. The fact that you get to choose is because of feminism. And I think it's important that we continue to remind people that it wasn't always a choice, and women are still not getting paid what their fair share is, and there are plenty of women who are doing a ton of unpaid labor. There's a bunch of people out there who get to do different paid labor jobs because of the unpaid labor of women, and I just want, I just want us to remember that, because it can be really easy to think that, oh my gosh, like we're greedy, or is it ridiculous, we want these things, or should just be happy with what I have? No. Every time you fight for you, you're also fighting for the other women around you. You are. So many women benefit from it, you know, especially those who can't fight for themselves right now, who don't have the rights or the ease to have those rights. So don't stop fighting in the countries and places that you live, and don't stop reminding the people around you, men and women or and everything else and everyone else who are like, it's not that big a deal, like we've moved on by now. We haven't. You know, something that really bothers me is that when a male drives from one state to another, his rights don't change. But for women, their rights do, and that right there should piss you the fuck off. And I don't mean it because I want you to be in an angry place all the time, but like, my goodness, you know. So if you have a family member or a person in your life who's like, you know, it's not that big, it is a big deal. And this is why. And you can use the link in the show notes below to go over those stats with them, and kind of just say, like, explain, like, explain to me why you think we don't need it anymore. And I just would like to say, like, in the history of the U.S. we haven't had a, you know, all female at the top running this country, even at state levels, right? Like we've had governors, but, like the rest of the state, is not majority women running it. It's always had a majority of men, but never majority of women. So, you know, we haven't got what we want. We haven't done that yet, and you can't tell me feminism is a problem when women haven't been in charge of everything, you know. So I'm not saying that we're better than they are, or they're worse than us, or whatever. I'm just saying I think we really still have a lot of reminding people to do that there's still work to do, and we're still not there yet. Anyways, that is my little thing for today. Lesley Logan 4:43 Let's get into your wins. So we have from Nancy Lawrence, who's an eLevate grad and just an all around amazing woman who we've got to go to Cambodia with and celebrate. She's got a great win. She said, m win watching this young queen teach Pilates in her own beautiful studio. And I tell you, she's headed to Cambodia for this year's retreat. She's smashing it. So I love this win, Nancy, because you and your daughter are smashing it. And I there's a picture that was attached to this win, which is like of Miranda teaching in this beautiful space. And you know, when we went to Cambodia together the year before, not, none of those things were on the drawing board. And so like the fact that you get to have a win where you're so present in a space, and you're watching your beautiful daughter's an amazing teacher, teach in that space. What a beautiful win. You know, it's so interesting how we can underestimate what happened in a year. You know, just by being focused on what we want to do, it's kind of incredible what what we can do, and then what we get to witness along the way. So thank you for sharing that win with us. Lesley Logan 5:44 So my win is I bought a blow dryer, and I have been learning to blow dry my hair, and you don't get to see it from today's video, but I have been so once a week, I wash my hair, and then I try with different blow dryer attachment, blow dry my hair. And so I've had more days with my hair down than I usually do, and it's quite fun. It's not at all as gorgeous and wonderful as when my hairdresser does it. But you know what? We can't expect big things from ourselves, because I only wash my hair once a week, and so, you know, at this point, I've been doing it for 12 weeks now. And then, if you take one week out of each month away from my hairdresser doing it, I've only had nine attempts, and I'm not terrible at it, and I am really excited about myself for doing that. So you know, a win can be just learning something new, giving yourself permission to be a beginner at something and not great like that can be a win. Highlights From This Episode "Typically for our first-line therapies, we use certain classes of drugs and some of them are proteasome inhibitors like bortezomib and carfilzomib. We also have IMiDs or immunomodulatory agents like thalidomide, lenalidomide, and pomalidomide. We have monoclonal antibodies, anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies. Of course, we can never talk about treatment for myeloma without mentioning dexamethasone. It is an integral part of our treatment regimen. Most of our frontline therapies now are not just a single agent. They're not even doublets anymore. Typically, they're triplet therapies. And now in 2026, it's leaning more toward quadruplet therapies. By that, I mean you're taking a proteasome inhibitor, an immunomodulatory drug, dexamethasone, and an anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody all together to present patients with a good chance their induction therapy will lead to a good chance of them responding to treatment." TS 4:25 "[With] myeloma labs, there should be some indication after each cycle of therapy that the treatment is working. So, you don't have to do a whole myeloma panel, but maybe getting a monoclonal protein spike, maybe getting a free light chain assay, or maybe an immunoglobulin G or immunoglobulin A level, just to see if the treatment is working. So, those labs are crucial to determine whether the therapies are working. And again, the lab improvements usually correlate with the clinical presentation of the patient." TS 11:01 "There are active clinical trials ongoing with drugs like cell mods. Cell mods are the new oral anticancer agents for myeloma that have shown great promise with efficacy and safety profiles. And then there are other combinations that are showing a lot of promise. So, drugs that are already approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). And I'm talking about pairing anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies with bispecific T-cell engagers. If you do that, there has been some evidence that these combinations are very efficacious and responses are durable. And there are ongoing clinical trials and studies being done right now to see if these can be FDA-approved to pinpoint where they are as far as in comparison to other treatments." TS 20:10 "I always tell patients to try to participate in safe, and I want to stress safe, physical activity. So, I tell patients, the more you sit on the couch or you sit in the chair for most of the day, that unfortunately will make your pain worse. So, trying to get up and about and doing some physical activity, such as getting a physical therapy evaluation and a treatment program, no matter how passive or mild or gentle it is, can really help these patients with bone pain." TS 26:10 "I think it's important to realize that myeloma has had amazing advances in science, research and treatments. I think that all of these things coming together, all the science and clinical trials and everything like that, has led to a significant increase in overall survival of our patients, which ultimately is a great thing. We want patients to live longer and they're living longer with a very good quality of life. So, I think it's important to realize that myeloma is very well studied, very well researched, and it's still ongoing with many, many clinical trials." TS 36:04

Jake and Bob also answer a few questions received from priests at the retreat, such as—Am I using wounds as an excuse for sin? What is the difference between soul ties and enmeshment? And should I share my wounds with my parents? Key Points: Healing is best understood as an ongoing encounter with God's love that restores communion and is not simply the removal of pain. Pain relief can be a fruit of healing, but it should never become the primary goal over intimacy with God. Broken communion is the reason we experience pain. Wounds often lead us to develop maladaptive responses that we mistakenly elevate into "virtues." Holy desires naturally draw us toward love and communion with God and others. When wounds and vows press down on holy desires, those desires often emerge sideways as disordered desires. Disordered desires are not evil at their core but are distorted expressions of something originally good. Enmeshment reflects a lack of healthy differentiation and often develops within family systems. Soul ties are distorted bonds that form through sin, wounds, or misplaced dependency. Learning to recognize the good desire beneath another's behavior transforms how we relate to them. Love grows when we respond to a person's holy desire rather than reacting to their maladaptive behavior. Discernment, timing, and freedom of heart are essential when considering sharing one's wounds with parents. In this episode, I talk about one of the most important and often misunderstood skills in mediumship: learning to say exactly what you get, without interpretation or adding extra information. So many developing mediums struggle not because the information is wrong, but because they change it before it ever leaves their mouth. In this conversation, I share why accuracy matters and how over-interpreting can actually dilute the information you're receiving and turn a yes into a no. I walk through three real examples from my own practice where this skill went right and wrong. One story involves one of my mentees and seeing a swing and assuming it meant a playground, when it wasn't a swing at a park at all. Another comes from a group reading where I said a grandfather bought the same car, only to learn it was actually a truck. And in a third example, I share a moment from one of my monthly mediumship practice circles, where broken glasses was the correct information, but how it was delivered from spirit was clever to get the developing medium to say the correct thing. This episode is meant to support developing mediums as they refine their delivery, build confidence, and learn to trust what comes through without reshaping it. Saying exactly what you get can feel uncomfortable at first, but it's one of the fastest ways to strengthen your mediumship and improve your accuracy over time. Why Soft Skills Outlast Technical Skills on Product Teams - Mike CohnAnyone who has worked in product development for more than a few years has seen the same pattern repeat itself.The technical skills that once felt essential gradually—or sometimes suddenly—become obsolete. Tools change. Frameworks fall out of favor. Architectures that once seemed modern start to look dated.This isn't new, but it is accelerating.The half-life of technical skills keeps shrinking, especially in technology. In the 1980s, it took ten years for half of what you knew to become outdated. Today, it is four years, and will soon fall below two years according to a Stanford professor. This raises an important question for leaders:Where does investment in people have the greatest long-term impact?Technical skills are necessary, of course. But they are rarely durable.Soft skills behave very differently.When someone learns how to collaborate well, make good decisions, facilitate discussions, or lead others, those skills don't decay at the same rate. Instead, they tend to compound. They become part of how that person works.Learning how to learn is a good example. Once someone develops that capability, it stays with them. The same is true for decision-making, leadership, and collaboration. These are skills that can continue to improve over time—but they don't become irrelevant.I once saw just how important this was during a demo to a group of nurses.A programmer demonstrated new functionality and showed text on the screen that suggested giving Saltine crackers to a newborn—clearly clinically inappropriate.He tried to explain that it was just placeholder text. The real point, he said, was the workflow, not the words.But to the nurses, the words mattered a great deal.Their professional identity is grounded in “do no harm.” What they saw on the screen violated that principle. They were ready to escalate the issue and cancel the project.What saved the project wasn't a technical fix.It was the project manager's soft skills.He calmed the situation, acknowledged the nurses' concerns, explained what had happened, and persuaded them to come back a week later for a revised demo.The failure wasn't technical—it was a failure of empathy.Product development is full of uncertainty. We work with evolving requirements, incomplete information, and users whose trust we must earn and keep.Soft skills reduce risk in these environments.Empathy helps teams understand users. Clear communication builds trust. Collaboration prevents small misunderstandings from becoming major setbacks.And when these skills improve, the benefit isn't limited to one person.If someone learns a new technical skill, that benefit often stays with them. But when someone learns to collaborate better, the entire team benefits. Everyone gets better.This is one reason leaders often underestimate the return on investing in soft skills.The payoff isn't always immediate or easy to measure. It tends to show up most clearly under pressure—when teams need to have hard conversations, discuss options honestly, and make good decisions quickly.That's also when the absence of soft skills is most costly.Some leaders think these skills can wait until things slow down. The Neuroscience of Fear vs. Gratitude When you're afraid, your amygdala (a walnut-sized area in your limbic system) triggers fight-or-flight responses. It's tiny and can't think well—it can only react. But your hippocampus acts like a one-way switch: it either triggers your amygdala OR your frontal lobes (billions of neurons designed for rational thinking). The deciding factor? Fear or gratitude. You literally cannot be grateful and anxious at the same time. This is exactly what Paul described in Philippians 4:6-8 two thousand years ago: "Don't be anxious, be grateful instead...think about what's noble, true, lovely..." Paul was 2,000 years ahead of neuroscience. The Auburn University Discovery Dr. Warren shares the pivotal moment at Auburn University's MRI Research Center when he and his wife Lisa watched a patient's brain respond to different thoughts in real-time. When thinking about the worst day of her life, her amygdala lit up, blood pressure rose, heart rate increased. When thinking about her happiest memory, frontal lobes activated, peace indicators appeared, blood pressure and heart rate dropped. That's when God spoke to Dr. Warren: "When you do surgery, you intentionally make a structural change in someone's brain to improve their life. When someone changes from harmful thoughts to helpful thoughts, they're also intentionally making structural changes in their brain to improve their life. That's surgery too—self-brain surgery." The Power of Anti-Fragility We've been taught that humans are fragile—easily broken and needing protection. But Scripture, neuroscience, psychology, and social science all agree: we're actually anti-fragile. You can't be as strong as you're capable of being without being broken a few times along the way. Romans 5:3-5 explains the process: suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope. Your mid-anterior cingulate (the part of your brain that handles willpower and resilience) literally gets stronger when you do hard things you don't want to do. George's Story - From Dyslexia to Fearless Dr. Warren's 7-year-old grandson George couldn't read despite being brilliant at everything else. He was diagnosed with dyslexia and worked with a tutor for 8 months, making up 3 grade years in reading. When George called his grandfather and said, "Pop, I'm a reader!" everyone wept. But here's the lesson: George is now fearless at age 10 because he faced the hardest thing in his life—not being able to read—and overcame it. If his parents had blamed the school or lowered standards, George would still be afraid of things he doesn't know how to manage. Instead, he knows nothing in his entire life will be as hard as learning to read, and he did it anyway. Mary's Story - From "I'm Stupid" to Syracuse Graduate Janet shares about 10-year-old Mary who had every learning label and refused to pick up a pencil or book. When learning to type, every mistake beep triggered outrage: "I'm stupid, I'll never learn, you hate me." After 3 days, Janet transcribed Mary's words on a whiteboard and asked, "Can we call this list 'lies'?" They created a truth list: next to "I'm stupid" was "I'm capable," next to "you hate me" was "you believe in me." Mary's new instruction: every time she heard the beep, name the truth. Beep. Truth. Beep. Truth. Struggle, truth. In 3 weeks, Mary typed 35 words per minute with 98% accuracy. She recently graduated from Syracuse University on a creative writing scholarship. The Critical Lesson for Parents Don't just let your kids suffer—teach them to struggle well in truth. Many of us developed unhealthy willpower and over-functioned in dysfunctional environments out of fear, not agency. When you teach children that everything they think isn't true and that even when something is true, there's more to the truth God wants them to see, you're giving them the tools for transformation. Come alongside them. Show them how to confess their story to God, ask Him what's true, then walk in that truth. The Three Sources of Thoughts Not every thought you think comes from you. Thoughts come from three sources: (1) your brain's automated patterns, (2) yourself and the Holy Spirit, or (3) the enemy. Learning to discern which source is speaking—and training your children to do the same—is essential for self-brain surgery. Key Takeaways: Start practicing self-brain surgery today. When you're triggered or afraid, confess your actual story to God. Ask Him what's true. Walk in that truth. Let your kids see you do this. Do one hard thing you don't want to do. Your mid-anterior cingulate cortex gets the signal that you're the kind of person who can do hard things, making all future hard things easier. This works for your kids too. Let your children suffer when it's safe to do so. Don't protect them from scraped knees, failed tests, or rejected friendship notes. Their brains are built for this. The Bible promises it. Your child needs evidence that they can survive hard things before they face the next hard thing. Teach the "two truths" practice. When your child says "I'm stupid" or "I'll never learn," acknowledge their feeling ("Yes, this is hard right now") AND teach them to name the truth ("AND you're capable, AND you're learning, AND struggle doesn't define you"). Focus on what you're grateful for, not what scares you. Your hippocampus is a one-way switch—it either activates your fear response or your thinking brain, but not both. Practice gratitude to literally change your brain chemistry and model this for your children. Remember: the generational chaos ends now. God has declared it, and He's made your mind and brain to promise it's true. You can't give what you haven't received, so do this work for your sake AND your children's sake.
