Goals come in different flavors--and they don't all work same way. By understanding the differences, we can uncover ways in which our goals may be a bit fuzzy, lacking support, in conflict with one another, or even just out of balance. That insight can help us fine-tune our efforts, helping us create lives that are healthier, happier, more productive, and more meaningful!Key Takeaways:Make sure that your emotional and outcome goals are supported by specific behavioral goals. There's an important difference between emotional goals (how we want to feel in our lives) and the desire to simply “feel better right now,” which can often lead us to act in ways that thwart our progress toward our actual goals. It can be hard to stay motivated by behavioral goals alone, so try to be clear on what emotional or outcome goals your behavioral goals are in service of. We also want to check our goals for alignment with our other goals and our values and adjust as necessary. Lab Experiment:Make a list of your current goals, objectives and aspirations and sort them into behavioral, emotional, and outcome goals.Does one category dominate your list? If most of your goals are behavioral, what sort of outcome or emotional goals will these behaviors lead to?Are your emotional goals supported by behavioral goals? Are your outcome goals supported by specific behavioral goals? Why do these outcomes matter to you; how do they align with your values and long-term vision? What emotional goals might your outcome goals serve? Do you have goals that are in conflict with one another? Can these two goals co-exist?If not, how do your values suggest you ought to proceed?Do your goals reflect the things you care about most? Do they bring you closer to a life that is aligned with your deepest values? Join us as we explore the depths of this parable and uncover its profound lessons.Episode Notes:Introduction:The anticipation of the Lord's return is a common theme in Christian sermons, often emphasizing the need for readiness. However, what if the Lord delays his return? This episode looks at Jesus' own words regarding this delay and its significance.Understanding the Parable:Jesus begins by narrating a parable to address the misconception among the people that the Kingdom of God would appear immediately.A nobleman goes on a journey to secure a kingdom for himself, leaving his servants with resources to invest until his return.Interpretation and Application:The delay in the nobleman's return challenges the immediate expectations of his subjects, prompting reflection on the nature of the Kingdom.Faithfulness in small matters leads to significant rewards, as illustrated by the servants' stewardship of the resources entrusted to them. The parable underscores the correlation between faithfulness and divine reward, emphasizing the importance of seizing every opportunity to serve faithfully.Everyone falls into one of three categories: faithful, fearful, or faithless, determining their eternal destiny and level of reward.Key Takeaways:Make the most of opportunities during the delay of the Kingdom's establishment.Prioritize faithfulness in small matters, as every act of obedience and integrity contributes to a holy life.Closing Reflection:The Christian life is often characterized by small deeds of kindness and faithfulness, which hold great significance in the Kingdom of God.May we find fulfillment in faithfully carrying out the tasks we have been entrusted with, regardless of recognition or reward.Support the showJeremy McCandless is creating podcasts and devotional resources | PatreonHelp us continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com

In this episode of the True Love Knots Podcast, Maria is joined by Rev. Orsella Hughes, and they will be talking about the importance of premarital counseling, keeping the spark alive in marriage, and much more! Standout Quotes: “Authentic authenticity begets authenticity.” “Marriage is a daily journey that evolves as you break down barriers.” “To whom much is given, much is required.” “You cannot live your life always as a recipient; you must give, you must be a blessing, you must serve other people.” Key Takeaways: Make authenticity a priority in your relationships and business by staying true to who you are. Reflect on your "why" - your core values and purpose in relationships - to guide you during challenging times. Prioritize regular date nights and vacations with your spouse to continuously strengthen your emotional and spiritual connection. Hiii everybody. This week on the show we are flipping things on it's head a little bit. I'm often asked about my story, my journey, my advice...so I figured it could be a fun opportunity to have my associate producer, Sarah Bockian, take the reins as interviewer and put me in the hot seat. Sarah joined the team six months ago at the start of the writers' strike, and has been working behind the scenes with me to help bring these episodes to life. She comes from the world of development and writers' room support staff, having worked on comedies and dramas for both broadcast and streaming. As this is her formal introduction on the show, she'd like the listeners to know two things: 1) she's available for staffing (and also Showrunners' Assistant and Writers' Assistant positions), and 2) she was super congested during the recording of this episode, and she's 90% sure her voice normally sounds less annoying. In this episode, we cover everything from my immigration to America, to egos at work, and the one set experience that still haunts me to this day. Key Takeaways: -Make your own opportunities, don't wait for them to find you -The most valuable business relationships are about depth, not quantity -The importance of holding on to your spark Thanks for doing this life thing with me! -C

What is your bigger purpose? Have you really thought about it? I've noticed throughout my travels and experiences, that many times people tell me I'm their “first”. The first person who made them feel special and included. Yes, I put pressure on people to step out of their comfort zones, but that's where growth happens! When you get uncomfortable you give yourself the room to grow. And I love seeing how people take the opportunity to give themselves that room, they just need a little push and a sprinkle of confidence. What do you think about when someone says, “Do you remember your first time”? The first memory or the first meaningful thing you can remember as a child? Sad, angry, mad? How would you feel? I want people to feel FUN. I want them to understand you can have fun while being present, productive and profitable. Main Topics: *How getting uncomfortable helps you grow *Finding your bigger purpose (through life experience) *How are you making others feel? Key Takeaways: *Make sleep a priority *Knowing how to manage emotions like stress *Connection starts with stepping out of your comfort zone
When we talk about intellectual property, rarely is it a one-size-fits-all approach. Often, overlapping forms of intellectual property protect particular innovations, new products, etc. There is no substitute for being careful and deliberate. It requires thinking through a strategy that keeps your eyes on the prize in terms of how a particular form of IP or strategy might benefit the business. That strategy must also be consistent with the goals of your client. To talk about this and much more, we have Leo White, who serves as chief IP & associate general counsel, assistant corporate secretary for The Duracell Company. In this episode, Jeff Harty and Leo White discuss: Approaching IP from a strategic perspective with the business' goals and plans in mind. The bundle of IP tools for protecting your invention, product, and other property. The power of a brand for the company and consumers. Handling gray market and counterfeit goods. Key Takeaways: Make certain you are receiving the right advice for the situation at hand. A brand at the center of your business makes its way into almost everything you do. Combating and counteracting counterfeiting activity can be difficult depending on where in the world it happens; however, counterfeit products hurt not only the company but also consumers. “Patent maintenance fees cost a lot of money. Welcome to the holiday season fueled by high emotions and unreasonable expectations along with a sprinkle of Codependency - a powerful cocktail Join me for this important conversation about dealing with the Holiday Season, high emotions, expectations, family and divorce - it's potentially an explosive mix to say the least. I will share important tips and strategies for staying “in your own lane” during the holidays and in general. There is a way to make it through the holidays in a healthy way that honours your boundaries and feels as good as possible all things considered. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Make a list of your wants and then your expectations. Also other's expectations - It's better to be prepared with what you are willing to do and not willing to do. It's Okay to Say “No” – Set boundaries for what you feel able to manage under the circumstances. Great practice for your new life as well. Use the list above to start having conversations with your family about what you can and can't do. Remain in Control of You – Stay on your side of the fence and make any arrangements you need to make for a quick escape, to come and go as you need etc. Accept Others for Who They Are – Just as you need to remain in control of you, you need to let go of trying to control anyone else. You are not responsible for others' happiness, fun or Christmas spirit. And you aren't responsible for their bad behaviour. Surround Yourself with Supportive People – Make plans to ensure you aren't alone on key days and surround yourself with and spend time with people you feel emotionally safe with and who you trust and love. Also, at the end I share a bit about a coaching program I am running in January to help you release Codependency patterns. This is an incredible opportunity to work with me in a way that allows you to understand the patterns and release them so you don't take this with you into new relationships and your new life. In this episode, Shellee and Moira discuss:The best time for students to start thinking about collegeWhat students consider when choosing collegesHow to pick your college listKnowing your resources as a parent Key Takeaways: Make sure your child is involved in the college planning process. There is so much to learn just by watching and supporting them. The college search is often an independent choice for students, but as parents, you need to guide them in choosing which colleges to apply to, choosing the best school for them, and knowing whether their choice is right. Picking a college list begins with looking at local schools. Allow your child to explore the new environment and become familiar with it - putting them in the driver's seat will create a completely different outcome.Know your resources. Bringing all of this to their doorstep will allow them to feel more confident and apparent. “We want a wide range of diverse students from all different aspects of campus life, so that they could share their stories in a way that will resonate with somebody out there watching that video, reading that information on an interactive guide, or reading it in a particular social media piece that we put out.” — Moira McCullough About Moira McCullough: After successfully raising a family and working as a technology consultant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in NYC and London, Moira drew upon her wide-ranging experiences to create a comprehensive platform to help families and students have the best college experience, whether they are applying to, attending, or graduating from college. No matter how well-seasoned you are in real estate, there's no denying the fact that sometimes sale agreements fall through. Buyers that walk away from an agreement have their own personal reasons not to continue doing business with you. This situation can be very frustrating, given the fact that you've put in your time, effort, and heart to make this deal possible. To avoid mishaps like this along the way, listen to Zack as he gives you the secret ingredient on how to save a wholesale and get that shiny paycheck that you deserve. Key Takeaways Make sure that you're doing things legally and properly. Allocate 2-4 weeks for the inspection period. It's important to set certain expectations with the seller. Inspect the property and make sure that your price is correct. What happens when you're under contract for too long? It's all about progress, not perfection. The only thing that matters is what the end-buyers are willing to pay. To be successful in this business, you have to make sure that the offers that are coming in for that certain opportunity are as high as possible. Resources Driving For Dollars Mastery

In this episode, Cheryl and Eric discuss: Leadership and culture-fitness Double-downing on hiring mistakes Going to our strengths, hiring for our weaknesses The key to building relationships quicker Key Takeaways: Make sure that the right people are on the right seats and that you are picking culture-fit people in your team. When hiring, sometimes you'll make mistakes. Don't double-down on these mistakes, it's for the betterment of the organization and that individual if you part ways peacefully and quickly. We become successful by capitalizing off of our strengths, not by overcoming our weaknesses. Hire according to your weaknesses, let people who can do that job fill that role. Every one has warmed my heart. ❤️ In Free Time, I share operating principles to help you run a more agile business. Each chapter is a call to action—ways of working smarter, teaching ourselves and team members to operate with greater joy, ease, and efficiency. There are ten vital guiding principles that can transform your business. These will free up hours of time and energy each week, multiplied by every team member in your ecosystem—that's what I'm sharing with you today. Key Takeaways: Make a list of how you're spending your time for a week. If you see repeated tasks — those are prime candidates for automation. Notice the mortifying moments in your business. We all have them, and as uncomfortable as they are, they are great chances to fix our systems. Are your processes and systems ready for a big break? If Oprah came out of retirement and wanted to talk to you tomorrow — could you meet the increase in demand that would ensue? ⭐️ Permission: Relinquish your role as all-seeing question answerer. Let someone else answer the questions (and maybe your email!) — you are juggling way too much to remember all of the little things. ⭐️ Do (or Delegate) This Next: Double it! Double how much you delegate. What is your comfort zone for allowing other people to take things over? Stretch it to accommodate more.

Larry's path into education wasn't typical. Upon graduating from Ithaca College, he spent 10 years in radio/television news before travelling across the country playing piano/singing at retirement communities- eventually arriving back in his hometown of Framingham, Massachusetts. There, while substitute teaching, he became passionate about education and earned his Masters in Elementary Education from Lesley University. Key Takeaways: Make sure you are intentional about building relationships Use specific, personalized questions to get great feedback from teachers Small actionable adjustments make all the different when building relationships and culture Use UDL for staff, not just students Focus on listening more than writing when taking notes in a meeting Make sure you take time to stop and see what everybody at the ground level thinks. Pay special attention to the needs of your stakeholders Self talk is an incredibly important part of your mindset Always assume positive intentions The process of authentically listening is difficult and takes practice Listening and reflection are both two way skills. On this episode, Stacy talks with USA Global Scholar Dr. Torsten Pieper. Torsten is an Associate Professor of Management in the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte, the President of the International Family Enterprise Research Academy, and the author of more than 20 articles and nine books on family business. He gives some great insights and specific advice when searching for the right post-graduate business degree or Ph.D. and ensuring you're not wasting your valuable money and time and not shooting yourself in the academic foot. Key Takeaways - Make sure you're looking at AACSB accredited institutions and colleges. - Find a traditional or non-traditional degree that fits your lifestyle and long-term career goals. - Research the instructors and professors. You want to work directly with the best researchers and instructors in that school. - Look for a program that will teach you to research correctly and how to get published. Compare your list of AACSB programs, and then determine how they differ. Torsten Pieper Says: There's a lot of confusion out there in the market over the years. There's Doctor of Business Administration, Executive Ph.D., Executive Doctorate, Executive Doctorate Management. There are so many names and programs that came about that I can see how people can get very quickly confused. One important criterion you want to take into your calculation is to make sure the school has AACSB accreditation. Otherwise, you are wasting the money. You need to make sure that somebody teaches you how to publish and how to get published. You need to do research that has a chance of getting published, that has a chance of getting published. Because otherwise, you spend a bunch of money and at the end, you will have a degree from a school with a nice name. But if you still don't know how to do research and that's what you want to do, then kind of shot yourself in the foot. /////////////// Learn more about the USA Mitchell College of Business - Business PhD Program - Master in Business Administration - Undergraduate Business Degrees

This episode is the 2nd in our DBAJAW Guardian series -- our series of episodes focusing on the concerns and perspectives of future business and HR professionals. We call them the guardians because they are the next generation that will strive to keep the jerkiness down at work. In this discussion, we talk with Guardian Maggie Majerova, a student at Concordia University of Edmonton, about how prepared / unprepared students and new grads feel about starting their first career job and what they are doing about that. Big thank you to Maggie for showing up as her true self and sharing her experience and her feelings about the future! Key Takeaways: Make the most of internship and co-op opportunities. These help fill in the practical knowledge gaps that can’t help but exist in educational programs. Think about how to reframe concerns -- ask yourself questions that can help you take your concerns and identify new ways to approach building confidence The fake-it-to-you-make-it approach might be your friend! Keep learning! Stay curious! In addition to the program at university or college, there are other ways to add to your education: networks, community, podcasts (that’s us!!), reading, etc. Bonus Takeaway: Misconceptions of Gen Z? That they don’t want to work hard or for anyone else. Rather, they want to work with organizations that focus on development and sustainability, where they can show up as their true selves, and for and with leaders who want to make a difference.

107: Can You Be Rich And Spiritual? If you're a spiritual person, does that mean that you can't be rich or can success bring spiritual fulfillment? The greatest gift is to be able to show people into understanding that they can be kind, loving, and spiritually rich. If you believe this, your life will change. Richness is a result. It's a result of being a good person. In this episode, I talked about getting rich while living your purpose. Stay tuned to free your mind and go beyond your limitations so you can be rich and spiritual. Where does the rich or spiritual idea come from? 02:28- 02:44 (16) You know gorgeous, there are a lot of really beautiful spiritual traditions out there. Most of them have awesome things to say about treating your own fellow human beings with love, respect, and dealing with life's inevitable ups and downs. 02:45- 03:06 When it comes to money, though, things often start to get confusing for people. You probably know the old bible chestnut about the love of “Money being the root of all evil” and then there's one about it being “Easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter heaven.” 03: 07- 03:33 It's not Christianity either. The Prophet Muhammad once claimed that poverty was his pride. Buddha said that living a pure, unselfish life meant not owning anything at all. And the ancient Greek philosopher insisted that contentment came from wanting very little, rather than from being wealthy. It's not what you've got, it's what you do with it03:49- 04:32 Look, my dear, I'm not a religious studies scholar. Even though I've gone through the school of theology as a Christian but a religious study person. But I suspect that if you looked at each of those quotes in context and in their original language, the meaning might change a bit. I mean, yes, sure, if you walk all over people to build a fortune without caring who you hurt, and you step on people's back and step on people's shoes to get to climb up to the corporate ladder that's pretty unspiritual.04:51- 04:59 Can we please take a step back and acknowledge just one scenario: forgetting and spending money. 05:36- 05:45 The truth is that money doesn't change the person you are in your heart. Instead, it allows you to be more of whoever you already are. It's time to ditch the “either/or”05:59- 06:21 You can be any kind of rich person you want to be. Either a rich man, a rich woman, a soul rich woman, or soul rich men. First, though, you need to declutter all the damaging assumptions you've picked up about the way wealthy people have to be.3 Practical exercises06:34- 07:44 Here's a quick, practical exercise that will help you to do that. Step 1: Grab a pen and paper, and brainstorm a list of all the negative qualities that can go along with being rich in your mind. For example, being rich means “greedy,” “selfish,” “manipulative,” "you just love money," "you dissociate yourself with money," Step 2: Think of examples of real-life rich people who have those negative qualities and let yourself feel whatever it is you feel towards them. Then use the forgiveness mantra to let go of the charge around those feelings. "I forgive you," "I love you," "I thank you" Step 3: Finally, for every negative example of a rich person you identified, look for at least one person who's doing awesome things to make the world a better place.07:45- 07:50 So what kind of rich person do you want to be? Soul Rich Woman.Key Takeaways: Make a list of all your negative qualities. Use the forgiveness mantra. Make the world a better place. Let go of the negativity. Forget the spending. In two months she made four figures online. 08:51 - 09:24 Four figures, that's a few thousand dollars, Singapore dollars in two months after the very faithful first coaching session with me and a few more after, and then she took action and it was not an action that goes round and round in circles, no, it was really real, progressive, significant, cohesive action that brings results and she got it.Turn that passion into a business03:56 - 04:00 So we have this ten years stay-at-home mom, her name is Maelynn Lim. 04:19 - 04:34 And before she was a stay-at-home mom, she was a twenty-year, working in twenty years in a digital advertising firm and it was because of her daughter who has a hot problem that therefore she decided to stay at home. 04:58 - 05:07 So by the time ten years later, moving a timeline forward, you see she was unhappy, she was getting unhappy because the kids are already grown up. 06:10 - 06:19 So after discussing with her and using the soul rich blueprint I got her through the blueprint process and a few questions I always asked and I discovered that 07:07 - 07:29 she has this secret recipe, the chili paste, something really spicy, something really fresh, there is preservatives-free and it's not salted, there's are no sugar, there's no salt, there's not much oil within that pocket of chili recipe and I said wow this is it!The beautiful results08:05 - 08:09 And with marketing, you will get your results. 09:25 - 09:37 Now every single month even up to today moving the timeline forward months later, one year later she is still making four figures online, recurring. 09:39 - 09:45 Recurring is a repeat business guaranteed. Episode 23: Steps To Bring Your Personal Brand Online And Make MoneyHello and welcome to today's episode. My name is Genecia Alluora. I'm so glad for you to join me today. Now today is all about building a personal brand. How and why a personal brand online is very important. Now for you, the question that you need to ask yourself is what does it mean, and how does it look like?Building your personal brand(02:43 - 02:59) A lot of people think it's just posting on Facebook, posting on Linkedin, posting on Instagram and therefore I am online. But is it really the case? Is that really the situation to be seen as a leader in the online world?(03:05 - 03:23) Now, I want to highlight that it's never about the graphic. It's never about the logo, it's never about that website. It's never about the colors that you choose, the graphic that you used, the video that you used, that you post that would determine whether you become a leader or not. (03:25 - 03:28) The way to be seen as a leader by building a personal brand, Decide whether you want to be seen as a thought leader, business owner, or an influencer(03:29 - 03:40) the first step is to decide, do you want to be a thought leader, a business owner or to be seen as an influencer? Because a lot of times we just post randomly.(03:41 - 03:47) We post as a mother, we post as a teacher, we post in the roles that we are doing.(03:56 - 04:11) Does it move closer to another level? Does it move closer to another strategy? Who do you wanna be seen as? Because it begins with an end in mind.(04:37 - 04:43) So I'm a business owner but is that what I want to be known primarily?Types of personal branding(04:44 - 04:52) In personal branding, in my book, I talked about three types of personal branding. The primary, the secondary, and the tertiary.(04:53 - 05:19) So if you are just starting out, when you are executive, when you're working as a 9 to 5 employee, when you're just starting out in your junior position you wanna be known as hard-working, teachable, learnable and you build those as your personal brand. And then when you move into a slightly more senior position all these personal brands, you're learnable, you're teachable, you're hard-working will move to a secondary brand of yours.(05:53 - 06:03) So you're just layering one brick after another brick in your personal brand. So primary will move to secondary and then eventually move to tertiary. (06:06 - 06:19) So every time when you're moving and doing this online thing, bring your presence online, being seen as a leader online, you need to decide whether you wanna be seen as a thought leader, business owner, or influencer. An influencer, thought leader, and business owner...(06:20 - 06:35) An influencer is somebody like those in Youtube, you wanna become an influencer on instagram, you could be just posting everyday things, day to day. And then you influence people to purchase anything.(06:45 - 07:06) So that in itself is an influencer, probably making money through endorsements, brand ambassadorships, and maybe even some sponsorships or even some affiliate marketing fees that they get a small commission of every time you click on their link to make some purchases.(07:14 - 07:35) A thought leader is a subject matter expert. So for me I am a business owner but I don't want to really push that out so much so I kind of market myself and I help other women to be seen as a thought leader meaning that I'm always called on to speak about Women Empowerment.(08:38 - 09:09) As a business owner we talk about delegating, I talk about building a cafe retail chain so all these things are different areas that you need to work on to build your online brand because whenever we thought about offline, we talked about image consulting, right? We talked about colors, we talked about how you dress authoritatively, are you being presented, how well is your first impression, how was your handshake.Online is all about consistency(09:33 - 09:51) So then a way to do it is to make sure that you begin with an end in mind. The things that you are posting, the things that you are writing about, making sure that your mess is turned into the right message for people to see consistently.(09:52 - 10:09) Now, this is important because online is all about consistency, attention spend is very very short. So if you're not consistent, you're not able to be there to show your expertise, either it's an influencer, business owner, or thought leader, people will forget you.(10:10 - 10:13) So do you wanna be memorable or do you want to be forgettable? (10:18 - 10:54) Do you want to be a super earner that means you can make money online, or do you just want to be mediocre? You have to make a decision on that. Only then you can move and maneuver your way to be even a better version 2.0 of yourself in the online world if you know how to master and craft your brand, story, and the way to position yourself in the online space as a leader in order for you to be different in order to make a difference.Key Takeaways: Make a decision what version of yourself you want to be seen online. Maneuver your way to be a better version of yourself online. Know how to master and craft your brand Position yourself in the online world Make a difference Key Resources:Subscribe to Genecia's Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/SoulRichWomanVisit SRW's website: https://www.soulrichwoman.comFollow Genecia on Instagram : (@Geneciaalluora)Follow Genecia on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/geneciaalluora/Check Genecia's LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/genecia/Free Resource: "Soul Why: Soul Rich Woman Blueprint" and "How to Delegate 80% of your to-do list" ---> https://be.soulrichwoman.comSecrets of Manifesting Money Quickly Online Course ---> https://shor.by/moneymindset

This week we were supposed to talk to Jeff Friday, the Founder of the American Black Film Festival. However due to travel issues it is postponed until next week. If you have questions for Jeff, email me at hi@funnybrowngirl.com We are now on episode 47 of the Creative Breakthrough Podcast! These episodes take a lot of time, energy and love to make. As well as funds for new equipment, hosting fees, and website maintenance. If you are enjoying this podcast, please support my creative journey by donating your next cup of coffee to me. You can do this easily with Paypal or Credit Card at www.ko-fi.com/funnybrowngirl Your donation will go a long way! Last weekend, I attended the Playlist Live Conference in Orlando, Florida What is Playlist Live? It is an annual convention primarily for YouTube content creators, though this year I feel there were just as many TikTok creators and podcasters. The convention is held annually since 2010. Playlist Live’s programming is divided into three different tracks The Community Track is best suited for fans of Youtuber creators. The panels on this track consist of creators talking about various lifestyle topics. These topics include mental health, staying motivated and LGBTQ life. The Insight Track is created for current and aspiring YouTube content creators. The panels are geared toward teaching guests how to make a living from making YouTube videos. The Industry Track is for guests who currently work in the media industry. This track benefits marketers, managers, agents, producers, etc. This track goes in depth of the technicalities of the business realm. I checked out all the different tracks as I had an all-access pass. Observational takeaways of the panelists: (Important if you aspire to be a speaker or panelist in your creative field) Be prepared. The questions were provided in advance. You should not be stumped Have confidence and presence Dress the part Motivation and the Creative Process Creators shared tips about what goes into their creative process that keeps them inspired and motivated. Speakers: SuperMarioLogan, LeeThe4th, and one other guy Key Takeaways: Set aside time to write down ideas so when you have writer’s block you can still create content Aim to make the fans happy and do not chase fame or money Be consistent with putting out content Most ideas have been done before. Look at old videos and see how you can make them better or more relevant Don’t do it for the money (Lamborghini) Do what makes you happy Create content that you love If you feel burnt out, try something new in your life, like travel or skydiving for a new perspective Treat it like a job Before you launch, have ideas in your back pocket so you can stay on a schedule How to Build Your Personal Brand How do you build a brand that is authentic and resonates with your viewers? Speakers: Alex Ojeda, Cosette Rinab, Jay Mendoza Most of the panelists were TikTokers. Formerly known as musical.ly, TikTok is a social media platform for creating, sharing and discovering short music videos, think Karaoke for the digital age. However, other than dancing videos which are carefully synchronized, there are skits, travel, fashion, and beauty videos on the platform. The majority of the videos are 15 second long, but can be as long as 1 minute. If you are looking for quick entertainment, this is the platform for you. Key Takeaways: Make your brand consistent across all your videos. All your videos should have a similar vibe. If you want to be family friendly, then all your content should be family friendly Being family friendly will open more doors with brands and sponsors Be genuine. People want to see the real you. Don’t sacrifice your authenticity Create what make you happy and what you believe in. People can tell Don’t try to satisfy everyone People don’t know you so don’t let their negative comments bring you down. Be unapologetically you. Make other people’s ideas better. It’s not stealing, it’s inspiration to grow Don’t compare yourself to other people Don’t be scared to post. You have nothing to lose. Post consistently; however, remember its quality over quantity. Care about what you put out there Production 101 I stopped by this panel because JP Lambiase from episode 45 of the Creative Breakthrough podcast was on this panel. Growing a social media channel or page can seem pretty hard. This panel will discuss what goes into creating content that stands out, what you need in terms of equipment, editing tips, what you should be thinking about, and general best practices for building an audience. Speakers: JP Lambiase, Julia Goolia, Legendary Shots, Most Amazing, Information Overload, Jonathan Paula, and Ben De Almeida Key Takeaways: Make your idea unique by bringing in your personality and unique perspective If you have an idea do your due diligence before you start to see who else has done it and how you can make it better. Don’t worry if the idea has been done before, put your own spin on it and make it better Highlight your strengths in your content, so that you can continue making quality content and not get stuck. e. if you’re not a singer, don’t make a singing podcast. You will get stuck real quick. The more you put out there, the more opportunities you will have Don’t have high expectations. Remember, everyone started at the bottom and now they’re here…meaning on this panel Find something you enjoy, otherwise it becomes work Passion shows through your work, so make sure you enjoy it Soul search – find what you are strong at and what you enjoy doing Remember, it has never been easier to create content and to be seen, so what are you waiting on? You don’t need any fancy equipment to get started, your cell phone has a camera, editing tools, and filters. You’re ready now. Finding Your Place How to carve out a special place for yourself, your content, and your communities in the sea of creators and platforms. Speakers: Drew Lynch, Fur, Hannah Forcier, Sarah Lugor, Supdaily, syd’s vids Find what you do well, hone in on that, repeat it, and refine it Do not follow a formula Develop your own voice and style Expanding Your Creative Career These creators started out on one platform but have been able to translate their success onto different platforms, verticals, gigs, jobs, and more Speakers: Mark Daniel, Brandi Marie King, Shark Puppet, The Ballinger Family, Thomas Hayden sWooZie Find what platform works for you – podcast, YouTube, blogging Make sure your content represents you If you are aiming for an entertainment career, showcase your skills online. For example, one woman wanted to be a TV host so she began making YouTube videos to showcase her skill set. Another person put his magic tricks online and now travels the world doing magic Treat your content as if your grandma is watching or listening if your goal is to acquire sponsors Don’t worry about views and numbers Focus on engagement Experiment and try different types of content Don’t let bad experiences or comments demotivate you, learn from them Do not be afraid to evolve Understand your priorities, meaning how do you prioritize your content versus your family or how do you prioritize making content you enjoy versus money Battling Burnout Coping with feelings that come with content curation challenges Speakers: Brandon Baldwin, Emzotic, Jonathan Paula, Kati Morton, Rhino Burnout effects everyone. Everyone on the panel agreed they had felt burnout at some point in their career Learn to put yourself first Have patience with the process Don’t let others bring you down Do what you love Pushing Through Sometimes what you’re working on doesn’t perform as you wanted it to, or something didn’t turn out how you expected. Hear how these creators stay motivated through the ups and downs of life and work. Speakers: EnochTrue, Hailey Reese, Mark Daniel, Slice N Rice, Vanessa Nagoya Keep reading about changes in the algorithms on Google, YouTube, Instagram, etc. Remember even influencers videos don’t always perform well Keep a running list of ideas for when you have writers’ block Find new ideas in the comment sections of your content and other people’s content Remember why you started making and putting content out - the joy, the passion, the love One question that people kept asking the panelist – How do you deal with negative comments? Key takeaways from the entire conference: Do what you love and do it for love, not for money Stay consistent Have fun! Josh, Caleb, and Maria talk about Monday's interview with Cherie Lowe, "The Queen of Free." Their discussion includes how certain moments in life act as catalysts for long-lasting and life-defining change, what goes into making those catalytic changes, and how to face the difficulties in life that you may not want to face. They also discuss how to model actions as leaders (particularly celebrations) and, in a roundabout way, how leaders can help round each other out with their unique strengths, and more. Key Takeaways: - Make hard but necessary decisions sooner rather than later. - Embrace the reality of criticism. Let it make you better. Take what's valuable, leave what's not. But don't let it kill your identity. - Find your pace and rhythm in life. - Take people's critique with a grain of salt. Value feedback from people who value you more than those who don't know you. - Have two types of people in your life: someone you look up to and someone you can encourage on their journey. - Change that thing in your life - whether finances or otherwise - by taking that next smallest step. Move forward from there!

Who are the covered entities under the regulations? What is Section 500.06 all about and what it requires. How brokers detect and respond to cybersecurity events. Text ‘bulletproof’ to 345345 to stay in the know about our upcoming book release and the Bulletproof Summit in fall 2018! Bulletproof Dental Practice Podcast Episode 58 Hosts: Dr. Peter Boulden & Dr. Craig Spodak Guest: Dr. Tarun Agarwal, owner/dentist Raleigh Dental Arts, owner T-Bone Speaks Watch the full video of the interview by clicking here! Key Takeaways: Make sure you’re not being oversold by predatory companies offering horrible insurance and investment planning. Review your estate plans every couple years. It’s not about how rich or poor you are, it’s about preventing your loved ones from inheriting a storm. The cost of maintaining a healthy office is significantly higher than it was 15 years ago. We should be shooting for profitability in the 10-20% ballpark. Profitability should be based on all your normal expenses, plus the following: Each dentist (including yourself) should be paid as an associate Build in an escrow dollar or percentage amount (2-3%) for future improvements, renovations, and technology gains Interest amount (5%) on capital put into the practice “All things under one roof” – medical and dental – is the future of dentistry. Cottage industry offices as we know them will be displaced in certain environments. Approximately 80% of offices are solo dentists. The believe is within 10 years this number will drop to closer to 50%. If you’re going to stop practicing within the next 10 years you’ll probably be fine. If you’re planning to practice longer than that you will get hit by these changes. Put away money on an annual basis to cover renovations. Make sure you’re getting fulfillment in your professional life, as well as in personal. If you design your business around you and make yourself happy, others around you will be happy as well. Focus on outcomes, not goals. People aren’t doing enough live training. The magic is being around people and interacting with others. As an online entrepreneur, you may wonder where and how to get clients. Since Facebook is one of the most used social media tools today, you may be tempted to create an account, join some groups, and immediately send private messages to potential clients. But what are the chances that this strategy will work? How should you approach members so they will be responsive towards you and not reactive against you? In this episode, I share strategies on how to acquire clients through Facebook groups. I discuss how to be authentic in a non-self-promoting manner, how to build authority as someone credible in your industry, and the significance of helping from a place of giving. “When you don't try to sell, you are building up trust.” - Sigrun In This Episode of The Sigrun Show: Easier ways to acquire clients Why joining Facebook groups or paid programs to look for clients doesn't work What to include in your “Work with Me” page Managing your time in the groups you're involved in The kinds of questions to post What not to include in the responses you provide to member queries Key Takeaways: Make sure that people know where to find you -- show links on your Facebook profile. People tend to click through once they see your desire to help others. Search for keywords in the search bar instead of scrolling through the feed. Show Summary: This is a general, straight-up talk for a business owner that runs his/her service or product-based business. You have to have a way to review your numbers. You must have somebody doing your bookkeeping and providing your financials. I've seen this so much and it's so disturbing that people don't even have the most basics figured out and they really manage business through their checking account and that is just so scary. Why is knowing your numbers critical? To fix issues To prevent issues before they become out of control To measure your success and to have goals Having your head in the sand is not an option. You need to be an expert in your business and in tune with what's going on in your business financially. Let's jump into some of them. Revenue Be aware of how much money is coming in your business, otherwise you will never be able to know how much money is going out and how much you really have to spend. Expenses Know all of your expenses (rent, labor, utilities, annual expenses). Know when your money needs to come out. Accuracy is super important. Cost of Goods Sold What's the cost to you to provide your service or build your product? Inventory Levels As an investor, every time you walk into a store room and there's inventory, it should be making you excited because it's turning over and making money or it should make you sick because it's money you spent but just sitting there. Make sure you manage your inventory levels so you remain profitable and be able to move your product. Profit Margin You don't know what your profit is if you don't know your expenses. Know how to reverse out your profit margin. Cash Flow You need to be acutely aware of how much cash is coming into your business and how much is going out that you've committed to. Many companies don't know this so they're giving cash squeezes because they're not able to manage the cash flow process or they don't have cash on hand. Cash is king. You have to plan for higher unforeseen expenses. Plan on a slow-pay or no-pay customer. You have to have cash on hand to account for that. Other numbers you need to know: Profit and loss statement Balance sheet From a business operation standpoint, here are some things you should consider: Cost of Acquisition How much does it cost you to acquire a new customer? How much advertising or money are you paying to acquire one new subscriber? Customer Retention If you're acquiring a customer, how long are they staying with you? If your retention is not able to outrun the cost of acquisition, then you're losing money by getting a new customer. This is a bad business model. Marketing and Sales Funnel Efficiency There are a number of spots in the sales funnel that affect your business. Raw leads (a reflection of your marketing and business development outreach) Qualifying a lead (a reflection on your marketing message and lead nurturing and business development prospecting) Prospecting Proposals Customers Here's a metric you can follow: If you know your leads are down 60%, there is a chance your sales is going to be down 60% soon if you don't do something to fix that. Breakpoints Know what your break point or capacity is (physical space, operating hours, number of staff, etc.). If your team is not set up properly or your processes are not in place, you lose quality. Hence, your capacity can dictate the quality of your service delivery for the rest of your products. Other KPI's: Renewed customers Total number of clients contacted Here are some metrics I monitor in my business: Webinar attendees Podcast downloads (Libsyn) Leads Subscribers to all social channels Email subscribers YouTube followers Website stats The financial side of a business can intimidate so many people but you have to understand what's going on in your business. If you're not aware of your numbers, it will come back to haunt you. Key Takeaways: Make sure to keep accurate books. Hire a bookkeeper. Get an accountant. Review your key numbers weekly, monthly, or yearly or whenever is necessary for that specific metric. If you need help, do whatever it is to get help.
