The Dad Edge Podcast (formerly The Good Dad Project Podcast)
Gentlemen, we're two weeks out from Father's Day and this Q&A hit me right in the chest. We've got Joe the Legend joining me today, a father of five who brings that earned wisdom — the kind that only comes from years of being in the trenches, making mistakes, and choosing to grow through them. This conversation is real, raw, and exactly what this community is built on. We tackle two questions from the Alliance today. The first one is about a 12-year-old daughter who's been lying and stealing from family members — and how to guide her toward accountability while keeping the relationship open and safe. The second one is something almost every dad I know battles: losing patience by the end of the day when the tank is completely empty. Joe drops some of the most honest perspective you'll hear anywhere on why kids lie and steal, what birth order has to do with it, and how a scarcity mindset can drive behaviors you'd never expect. And then he shares something that personally rocked me — that impatience isn't a discipline problem. It's a selfishness problem. That one landed hard, and I'll explain why. This is the kind of show that reminds you why we're here. Not to be perfect dads. But to be intentional ones who keep showing up, keep learning, and keep choosing our kids — even when we've got nothing left in the tank. Timeline Summary [1:01] Larry introduces the show and a special four-part June offer for new Dad Edge Alliance members [1:38] What's included: signed copy of The Pursuit of Legendary Fatherhood, two courses, and a brand new PDF resource [3:39] Today's two topics: how to handle a child who is lying and stealing, and losing patience by end of day [4:00] Morgan (The Engineer) asks his question: his 12-year-old daughter is stealing from family members, often tied to jealousy [5:36] Joe shares that lying is almost always a defense mechanism and stealing is tied to either scarcity mindset or attention-seeking [6:55] Joe reflects on growing up without enough — and how that scarcity mindset made stealing feel necessary as a kid [8:10] Joe raises the birth order question: second borns can feel like second best, and attention imbalance can drive behavior [9:38] Joe's reframe: are you unintentionally reinforcing scarcity in your home, or creating uneven attention among your kids? [12:08] Larry tells the story of his son Mason getting caught shoplifting at age 11 — caught on video at a local store [15:28] Larry calls the store, finds out the owner is a retired cop, and decides not to protect Mason from the consequences [17:49] Larry takes Mason to face the store owner directly and tells his son: whatever this man asks you to do, you're going to do it [20:34] The 30-day consequence plan: daily chores, journaling gratitude and reflections, and a final trip to the police station [22:15] The Sonic parking lot conversation — where Mason finally broke down and told the truth about why he did it [23:37] Mason's real confession: he was afraid of losing another friend if he didn't go along with the theft [25:51] Calvin asks his question: how do you stay patient at the end of the day when you're completely drained? [27:40] Larry's answer: surrender before you walk in the room — pray and admit you can't do it alone [29:50] Joe's reframe on patience: it's listed as a fruit of the spirit in Galatians, and a lack of it is rooted in selfishness [31:18] Joe's inner monologue when he feels impatience rising — asking himself whether it's about him or about the person in front of him [34:29] Joe reflects on the relationship he has with his oldest son today, and why patience made it possible Five Key Takeaways Lying is almost always a defense mechanism — when your child lies, look first at what they're afraid of, not just what they did wrong. Stealing in kids is usually tied to either a scarcity mindset or an attention grab — ask yourself if you're unintentionally reinforcing either one in your home. When your kid does something wrong, connection has to come before correction — Mason's breakthrough happened in a Sonic parking lot, not in a punishment. Impatience isn't a willpower problem, it's a selfishness problem — if you're losing patience, something is encroaching on your agenda, and recognizing that shifts everything. You cannot white-knuckle sustainable patience on your own — whether through faith, community, or both, the fathers who show up consistently are the ones who know they need help. It happens in Sonic parking lots, in honest conversations after long days, and in the moments when we finally stop trying to do it alone. Joe's story about his oldest son hit me differently today — knowing how far they've come, knowing there's no reason they should be close, and hearing him say that patience is what made the difference. That's the work, gentlemen. That's exactly the work. If today's conversation meant something to you, pass it to a dad who needs it, leave us a five-star review, and keep showing up for your family every single day. Go out and live legendary.
For those who know the true identity and deity of the Christ, it may seem a little unfair to describe Him as the preeminent man. As Charles Wesley wrote, to look at Christ was view the Godhead veiled in flesh: "Christ, the everlasting Lord, late in time behold him come, offspring of the Virgin's womb: veiled in flesh the Godhead see; hail th'incarnate Deity, pleased with us in flesh to dwell" But as we shall see, when Christ became incarnate, he really was a one-hundred-percent human man, who was tempted in every way a man could be tempted. In 451, the Ecumenical Church Council in Chalcedon considered Christ's incarnation. They affirmed the biblical revelation of Christ being incarnation (made of flesh) as 100% God and 100% human. The incarnation of Christ resulted in Him have a soul that was both eternally divine and forever human. I am going to offer a brief list of some of the good men mentioned in the Old Testament. Three of these men receive a lot more attention than the first three men I will discuss. Four of these men were fathers, and I will point out that the implication of the biblical data is that they fathered their children after they had fathered them. Each of these six men were manly. They demonstrated diligence to serve as providers and protectors. They showed genuine car and concern for others. They were examples of authentic spirituality—and did so in an environment that was often difficult. The order of this list is as they occur in the Bible. Please like and subscribe to this channel. (I asked if He had any specific questions on "Gear") yeah I'd say a good first cycle , thoughts on tren ?, is it worth it low dose maybe ? Mast . -Question: question: Your thoughts on using Trenbolone Enanthate at 150mg/week, instead of using Testosterone Cypionate 150mg/week for TRT? Question: Hey guys! Once again thanks for all the great info! I just had my shoulder surgery yesterday and started my aggressive healing protocol this morning. I am in an adductor sling for the next 6 weeks. I start PT in a week, but I can take my arm out to breath and clean in 72 hrs. Can I pin my lats or tricep? I want to administer the bpc as close as possible but atm I can't seem to do it one handed and in my current state. I have been sticking to my stomach but I know the closer the better. Question: Really appreciate all the great practical information. Could I please have your opinion on the compound Tesofensine. Any info will greatly appreciated. Thank you Question: Hi Josh, Hi Jim. Amazing work all the time Gentlemen! Have you heard of / researched taking LDN (low-dose Naltrexone) for inflammation reduction? And, have you heard of / researched FLGR-242, a modified version of Follistatin-344, which has been available to the public since approximately November of 2025. Question: I've been taking 200 mcg of cjc 1295 and 200 mcg of ipamorelin before bed 5 days on and 2 days off for about a month. I was not sleeping well on the nights i took it. 2 days ago I started taking1mg of tesamorelin and 200mcg of ipa before bed and cjc and ipa in the morning. I woke up with a headache both mornings. I was take half the amount of tesa and see what happens. Just curious what you thought was causing the headache. Thanks for all the good info guys! Question: I've been on Reta for 4 months and have lost 15 pounds and 2 belt sizes, but my blood pressure is up and was a little high when I started it. If I stop Reta what should I take instead? I am going to start Tesa and wolverine stack for injury and to address gut problems. Still need to lose 30 pounds from waist up! 57 years old. Thanks! Question: Hi guys! You talked about SS-31 and MOTS-C and running one before the other. I'm currently running SS-31 and planning to add in MOTS-C after a few weeks. I'm hearing that adding in NAD+ on opposite days of MOTS-C is beneficial. Have either of you done this? And if so, would you suggest that I add in the MOTS-C first and then a couple of weeks later, the NAD+? What are your thoughts? Thanks so much! Question: Is there anywhere to look at the Reta statin data for plaque? My buddy had a widowmaker at 46 last month; it has me worried about my heart health at 54. I have a mild blockage in my LAD. I am on Tirz and a statin as is. If there is a way to reduce it at all I would be willing. Thanks!! Love the show!
A new podcast episode of "Sound Speed Action," a review episode on the movie "In The Grey" (2026), is now available everywhere you get your podcasts!Episode 68 – Review: In The Grey (2026)Guy Ritchie movies are special. There is always something fun about them. I got hooked with the one-two punch that opened his career, "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch", and I have followed him ever since. The phases of Ritchie:The amazing start: "Lock Stock" and "Snatch".Veering off course (the Madonna era): "Swept Away" (yikes, not Ritchie).Finding his way back: "Revolver" and "Rocknrolla".There he is!: "Sherlock Holmes", "Aladdin", and "The Gentlemen". Now he is everywhere, also making shows like "MobLand" and "Young Sherlock". But spreading himself thin has recently produced fun yet troubled movies."In The Grey"Pros: Eiza Gonzalez is the most fun thing here, full of charisma, not phoning it in. The action and that kinetic, slapstick Ritchie energy are intact. The understated Chris Benstead score adds to it, and the locations are fantastic.Cons: Gyllenhaal and Cavill are dialed way down, so the tough guys never feel human. That ties into the bigger problem: the protagonists never feel in real danger, the third straight Ritchie film with that issue. The courts get manipulated so easily that nothing pushes back, so there are no stakes. The on-screen scribble text is overused to hide the gaps, and the ending, hurt by reshoots that never happened, just abruptly drops."In The Grey" hits rental everywhere June 2nd (it was in theaters May 15...

The Developmental Roles of a Man In Part 1, I have laid the foundation that when God created the first man, it was a vital aspect of this creation that He created the first woman to be his ally and wife. While the man was created with a greater physical strength than the woman, I have pointed out that the reason for this was that he might resemble God's protective strength for her, and use his physicality to be productive. The woman was not created as a lesser, but as a correspondent to the man. Importantly I also pointed out that when the woman was created she was named 'Isha. While A'dam had been inspecting and naming each of the animals in the region of Eden as an act of vice-regent authority, it is not until after the Fall that Adam then re-names 'Isha as Eve (Gen. 3:20). In this chapter I discuss the God-ordained changing role of a man. I will also note that these changes demand something of a man that the Fall has made difficult for men to do (and I should know): to receive correction with humility. We begin by considering Genesis 2:24. Notice how many male relationship roles are alluded to in this foundational verse: ¶ Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:24 Please visit: https://www.findingtruthmatters.org/articles/gentlemen-please-a-consideration-of-manhood-and-masculinity/

Created to be Manish It might not be an exaggeration to say that many western societies are experiencing a crisis of manhood. Two and half millenniums ago Socrates was asked, “What is a virtuous (good) man?” Plato recorded Socrates long answer in The Republic in which Socrates defined what a virtuous man was, and how a society could organised and governed to ensure it could be achieved. The essence of the Socratic answer included: A society can help to produce a virtuous man by: * having him born to good parents. * educating him in manners, literature, rhetoric, logic, mathematics, ethics, religion and art. * ensuring that he is governed by virtuous leaders of impeccable character. * training him so that he is physically strong and able to provide for his wife and children. How might we answer the same question today? What is a good man today? Socrates answered this question by asking his various enquirers questions evoking them to think about the answer as they were walking to an event in the distant city. Throughout this study, I will also be asking questions of you that are designed to also make you think and consider the possible answers. Here's why I think this is an important question for Christian men to consider and to answer: (i) Abusive men are the main perpetrators of sexual abuse against women and children; (ii) men comprise the higher percentage of prison populations in western societies by a long way; and, (iii) most of the men in prisons have no meaningful relationships with their father. This is why I think we have a crisis of manhood! Can we find answer to the question, “What is a good man?” in the pages of the Bible? Not only do I think we can, I think that once we have answered this question and are forced to ask another follow-on question: How can we as the Church be a solution to this crisis of manhood? And that is the humble goal of this series. But first we have to lay a foundation from the Bible and it is going to involve me being a little bit nerdy before we can...

Our cultural artefact for this Podding On episode is the 2004 British horror parody television show created by Richard Ayoade and Matthew Holness, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. In this episode of the Covenant Eyes Podcast, a powerful challenge is laid out: what if the real crisis facing men today isn't just behavior—but identity? Theo McMonagle is joined by John Heinen and Devin Schadt of The Catholic Gentleman to unpack the deeper roots of masculinity, shame, and purpose in a culture that has lost its way.Together, they explore how the breakdown of authentic masculinity has led to isolation, confusion, and destructive habits—and why reclaiming identity as sons, husbands, and fathers is essential for healing. Drawing from Scripture, personal experience, and years of ministry, John and Devin point to a countercultural truth: real strength is found not in control or dominance, but in sacrifice, responsibility, and self-giving love. This conversation dives into the role of shame, the importance of brotherhood, and the necessity of spiritual discipline in forming men who can lead with courage and integrity. They also address cultural extremes—from passivity to domination—and offer a grounded, faith-filled vision of masculinity rooted in relationship, purpose, and truth.Whether you're navigating your own struggles, leading a family, or seeking clarity on what it means to be a man in today's world, this episode offers both conviction and hope: transformation begins when you embrace your identity and allow God to work through your life.Episode Topics Discussed• The crisis of masculinity and loss of identity• Why shame keeps men stuck and isolated• The difference between passivity and domination• Reclaiming masculinity through responsibility and virtue• The role of brotherhood and accountability• Why prayer and discipline are essential for growth• Cultural confusion around relationships and marriage• The impact of fatherlessness on young men• Learning to embrace sacrifice, not avoid it• How authentic masculinity is rooted in self-giving loveResources MentionedThe Catholic Gentleman Fathers of Saint Joseph The Meaning and Mystery of Man by Devin Schadt Timestamps06:26 – The Root of Lust & Disordered Desire11:36 – How Shame Impacts Men's Lives17:50 – Embracing Littleness & True Strength18:46 – Forming Men Who Take Responsibility21:39 – Brotherhood, Prayer & Spiritual Growth24:55 – Discipline, Habits & Self-Mastery29:53 – Cultural Confusion Around Masculinity33:36 – Marriage, Fear & Misconceptions34:43 – The Power of Relationships & Purpose38:54 – Love, Sacrifice & the Meaning of the Cross44:55 – How Division Distorts Masculinity and Femininity 47:13 – Marriage as a Mirror: Identity, Growth, and Self-Awareness 51:29 – Fatherhood: What Sons and Daughters Need59:31 – Final Encouragement & Living with PurposeSend us your feedback!Try Covenant Eyes for FREE today!Use Promo Code: FreePodcast © 2026 Covenant Eyes, All Rights Reserved

A massive cybersecurity week. On this episode of Cybersecurity Today, David Shipley breaks down the reported breach of Instructure's Canvas learning platform, where attacks linked to the ShinyHunters extortion group may have exposed data tied to up to 275 million user accounts across more than 9,000 educational institutions. The incident disrupted access, delayed exams, and forced Instructure to disable its "Free for Teacher" program after attackers allegedly used it to post extortion messages. Also in this episode: the Gentlemen ransomware group suffers a major internal leak, exposing affiliate chats, tooling, victim data, and operational details — a rare look inside a live ransomware operation. Then, General Motors agrees to a $12.75 million California settlement over allegations involving OnStar-linked driver data collection and sharing, raising fresh questions about privacy in connected vehicles. And finally: security researchers report what appears to be the first documented AI-assisted operational technology (OT) cyberattack attempt targeting a water utility in Monterrey, Mexico. The attempt failed to reach industrial control systems, but combined with confirmed attacks on water infrastructure in Poland, it signals a worrying shift in critical infrastructure threats. Ladies & Gentlemen, on this special edition of The Right Side, Doug Billings reveals the big-picture story the mainstream media refuses to tell: President Trump is deliberately executing the true American Great Reset — the direct opposite of the globalists' dystopian “Great Reset” pushed by Klaus Schwab, Yuval Noah Harari, Al Gore, King Charles, and the World Economic Forum. This episode breaks down how Trump's strategy of energy abundance, national sovereignty, and industrial revival is replacing the globalist agenda of scarcity, control, and “own nothing and be happy.” From record U.S. oil production exceeding Saudi Arabia and Russia combined, to the rebirth of the American System championed by Hamilton, Lincoln, and McKinley, Doug shows why American families are already winning with lower energy costs, stronger jobs, and renewed prosperity. You'll hear the historical perspective, the pocketbook victories, and the hopeful conservative vision that proves America is once again leading the world in freedom and opportunity. If you want analysis you can't get anywhere else, this is the episode for you.Subscribe, share, and stay on The Right Side — because the republic is fighting back!#America #GreatReset #Trump #EnergyDominance #WEF #KlausSchwab #DougBillings #USA #MAGA #fyp #TheRightSide #ConservativePodcast #PatriotPodcastSupport the show
This week's experiment: the baffling, bargain-bin martial arts spectacle known as King Kong Fu. A film that dares to ask, “What if a kung fu master… was also a gorilla?” and then refuses to answer that question in any coherent way.Shot in Wichita, the very place Troy grew up, this cinematic fever dream brings things uncomfortably close to home. Local landmarks, questionable fight choreography, and a surprising amount of gorilla-related mayhem combine into something that feels less like a movie and more like a dare that went too far.We would explain the plot, but much like the film itself, it seems to wander off halfway through and never fully return. Instead, expect a whirlwind of awkward dialogue, ambitious-but-confusing action, and editing choices that suggest time itself may be broken. It's not just a movie, it's a test of endurance. Of friendship. Of sanity. And on this episode, we find out whether Brad can survive a gorilla with a black belt… or if this is the episode that finally breaks him.No bananas required. Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to THE VISUAL PROMPT! In this series, Jared has given us a painting that he saw in a museum recently. He gave us the task to pick a film based on the emotions the painting elicited us, a film that reminded us of something we've seen in cinema, or however we wanted to interpret this. We have never done this before and we will include the image of the painting in our instagram. This was a very heavy film and Caleb's pick. He chose a film that we have all nearly given 5 stars. Fireside Chat Ep. 105 — The Gender Identity Experiment originally aired on October 23rd, 2019 During this week’s Fireside Chat, Dennis talks about Air Canada removing any mention of “Ladies and Gentlemen” from their flights. Many companies feel a societal pressure to follow new gender rules in order to “act moral." However, caving to the pressure of the LGBTQ lobby is damaging to society. Co-Host Simone Milasas (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/simone) You have what's commonly known as relationships, you have situationships, and now you have creationships. The term was coined by my first-time guest Simone Milasas, who sheds some new light on some of the ideals we've held true for years now around here. Now obviously, a "creationship" should be the opposite of, say, a "destructionship", but what is it exactly? Simone explains all. Knowing what it is and how great it sounds, what's holding most people back from entering into one? Well, for starters, it's not medieval times anymore. We're not partnering up for political reasons or financial reasons (at least, hopefully not), we actually get to choose who we want to be with. What's the "trickle down" effect of that freedom of choice? What exactly do you get to "create" together as a couple, perhaps even in defiance of conventional wisdom and commonly held limiting beliefs? And how do today's widely held opinions on masculinity and femininity factor into all of this? How does Simone envision men and women creating together as masculine and feminine partners? What needs to be brought back again about how men and women used to relate to each other...or can it be brought back at all? What is the weirdest reason why men won't even attempt to begin a relationship with a woman anymore? Have we biohacked our way to loneliness? We've over-optimized every aspect of our lives—Oura rings, trackers, endless connections on social media. We're fitter, more quantified, more tracked than ever. Yet we're the loneliest society that has ever existed. Suicide rates have never been higher. Somewhere along the way, we lost touch with each other and maybe even ourselves. Chris Schembra makes the case that true fulfillment doesn't lie in adding more optimization. It lies in adding friction back. In this conversation, we break down why convenience is the enemy of connection, what earned intimacy actually requires, and how the serenity prayer—tattooed on Chris's arm from early sobriety—reveals the wisdom we're desperately seeking. What You'll Learn: Why "biohacking" and optimization have backfired on human connection The difference between weak ties (what social platforms designed for) and deep relationships (what we actually need) What "earned intimacy" means and why it requires inconvenience and repeatability The League of Gentlemen: how a village of 100 friends grew from three people having breakfast together Why we're outsourcing our emotions to chatbots instead of sitting in our own thoughts The serenity prayer as a practical life design tool—not spiritual advice The discernment crisis: why judgment and taste are the most valuable skills of tomorrow How to reclaim your life from algorithms and convenience Rather watch on YouTube? https://youtu.be/8xxiRxRR24E Resources & Links: Chris Schembra on LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/chrisschembra Reach out: chris@chrisschembra.com 7:47 Gratitude Experience: https://747club.org EP79of CC: A new twist on gratitude: https://open.spotify.com/episode/0V49SVlsXGMmcH8Af2aGnO?si=3f708350572a4b01 EP101: BDSM and the Boardroom: https://open.spotify.com/episode/4cBTAzKRV27qa3wSOwpsQV?si=be9222f7e2104674 EP157: Ketamine psychedelic therapy: Chris Schembra's story: https://open.spotify.com/episode/0V49SVlsXGMmcH8Af2aGnO?si=3f708350572a4b01 Key Timestamps: 00:00 — Intro: Have we biohacked our way to loneliness? 00:41 — Mother Teresa on the poverty of the soul 02:23 — Allison pushes back on the framing 03:40 — The distinction between "too easy" and "too optimized" 04:09 — Why tech companies call us "users" 05:56 — The convenience trap: clicking vs. calling 06:51 — Outsourcing emotions to chatbots and streaming services 54:26 — Building true intimacy vs. collecting weak ties 55:27 — The Strength of Weak Ties study and social media's backfire 56:25 — The breakfast story: how a village of 100 friends was born 58:26 — Walking through seasons of life together 59:13 — The League of Gentlemen and being held when you show up messy 01:01:14 — The serenity prayer tattoo and the three pillars 01:03:40 — Wisdom to know the difference: the discernment crisis 01:04:40 — The beauty of inconvenient choices and earned connection Be sure to rate, review, and follow this podcast on your player and also, connect with me IRL for more goodness and life-changing stuff.Schedule a FREE podcast clarity call with me - Your future audience is out there. SCOTUS rules against racial gerrymandering, which has the left up in arms. Plus, the family of a terrorist is deported, but the media is hiding that important fact.
In this episode of the Professor Liberty Podcast, we step back from the headlines and trace the evolution of war itself, asking a deeper question: what happens when overwhelming force no longer produces clear victory? From the restrained “gentlemen's wars” of early modern Europe, where conflicts were limited and civilians largely stood apart, to the industrial-scale destruction of the American Civil War, we follow the steady expansion of conflict beyond battlefields and into the fabric of society. Along the way, we explore how World War I transformed war into a grinding system of attrition, and how World War II pushed total war to its absolute peak, where entire cities became targets and destruction reached unprecedented levels. The result is a world where war is constant but rarely decisive, and where the line between victory and catastrophe becomes increasingly blurred, forcing us to reconsider whether “winning” a war still means what we think it does.
