After a year of homeschool, they decided to give public school another chance, and once again were not satisfied with the progress. Today I'm joined by my client Heather Clinger, a wife and mother of 5 currently homeschooling her children in Turkey. She is passionate about teaching and creating music and is enjoying learning how to lift heavy things. I met Heather 4 months ago when she reached out for one-on-one nutrition coaching to improve her body composition, get stronger, and build muscle. Most importantly, she wanted to FEEL her best and set an example for her kids of achieving results through hard work and committing to a sustainable process. Despite constant upheaval for her and her family during the recent earthquakes in Turkey, Heather found the mental resilience, commitment, and strength to continue her training and maintain her fitness routine to cope.Through us working together, Heather has been mastering strength training, nutrition, and mindset, both through a muscle-building phase and now a fat loss phase. But the change in her strength and body composition are just a small part of what she's learned and the practices she's developed that give her a resilient, positive, and sustainable outlook on life. We talk about her experience during the earthquakes, our nutrition coaching journey together, and specific lessons and strategies YOU can use to stay focused on getting results. You'll learn all about:What she struggled with before working with a coachWhy she reached out for one-on-one coachingWhat surprised her when she started working with a coachHer strength training routine and what she learned from trainingWhat happened on February 6, 2023How the earthquake affected her training routineWhy Heather didn't take a break from training despite everything going onHow working with a coach was beneficial during this crazy timeLiving the best version of you; aspiration and hard workHow Heather's habits and mindset around food have changedUnexpected benefits or changes in other areas of her lifeAdvice for someone who is hesitant about hiring a nutrition coachEpisode resources:Meet Heather in the (free) Wits & Weights communityFood logging app - MacroFactor (affiliate code WITSANDWEIGHTS to extend your free trial)Watch the episode on video here

In this episode, Kellan talks about Coaching even further, the three types of Coaching you can offer, and how to price your Coaching Services. The three types of Coaching as discussed by Kellan:Coaching vs. Training - What really is the difference.Volunteer Coaching - A situation out of sheer love. Paid Coaching - You've decided to turn it into some business.Kellan reminded us that as a Coach, we solve real problems to make fundamental changes so that both us in this journey of helping people and them in their journey to create success are moving on the path to creating the Ultimate Life.Key Takeaways:"Coaching has an element of love in it.""If you are providing as a coach value for someone, you need to figure out how to do an appropriate exchange of money, which is just an exchange of energy.""If you're not providing real value, then you need to figure out how to provide real value, or just don't take these people on as a client." Season 01 Episode 11 Meth testing and Decontamination Welcome Rick Molloy from MTK Group Begin with letting people know about yourself and how it is that you came to become involved in the industry. What have been some of the steps you have taken to become one of Australia’s leading companies in Meth Test Kits and Training? What is the different type of testing methods and what are their strengths and weaknesses? What have you developed to separate yourself from the other meth testing companies on the market, and what can see you as the main benefits? What are the signs you teach for people entering a property to look out for, as far as contaminated sites? Who is the training for? Can anyone just buy a test kit and perform property testing? Why is training important? What do the results mean? Are their standards in Australia, and do they differ from State to State? Is their legislation around the testing and decontamination of meth affected properties? What could be some of the limitations faced by a remediation contractor when decontaminating a positive tested property? Currently, what requirements are mandatory for a contractor to bid on a remediation project? Are their differences for commercial and residential properties? Are their differences between a confirmed cook property to a smoking property? What about vehicles, are they subject to the same regulations and parameters around decontamination? As part of your research and development, your working with the University of Qld, what research are you currently working on? How will this research benefit trained operators and is this likely to make a change to any current legislation? Who is your ideal contractor? What knowledge would they have or need to grasp if either becoming a tester or remediator? What type of training programs are currently offered by MTK Group? Once they have this training, what would be their next steps to gaining actual first hand skills on a contaminated or suspected contaminated site? Realistically, can anyone become a tester? Become a remediation technician? And what would some of the costs and outgoing you will need to consider? Including additional insurances Looking at your products for sale, lets look at your testing equipment. 1. Field Testing – Different types and the advantages and dis-advantages 2. pH and VOC’s testing – Why is this important 3. Laboratory testing and how to read the report 4. Decontamination equipment 5. Decontamination chemicals There are many decontaminating chemicals now on the market, can you provide understanding around the reason why you have gone the way of your chemical and some of the benefits your finding with the results you have after the completion of your remediated properties. After remediation, what are the steps required for clearance? Issues arising in the industry when there is a second opinion by a competitor trying to discredit your work? What are the realistic time frames for the complete meth decontamination, including testing pre and post for a property? What could be some of the unforeseen issues arising for the decontamination of a property? i.e. Wallpaper, exposed timber, chipboard products (cabinetry), popcorn ceilings, pre 1990’s homes (asbestos), hold to cold to hot surfaces etc. Round up and recall on pockets of gold. Howard Partridge is an internationally recognized business coach, business owner, and best-selling author. He shares his tips for leading with a positive attitude and finding inspiration during the COVID-19 pandemic. Failure To Implement In his latest book, Failure to Implement, Howard highlights how important it is for leaders to take action and make decisions, even if you do not have all of the information. Instead of “reacting” which is a fear-based response, try “responding”, which is a faith-based reaction. Howard created a blueprint to help guide home services business owners during these uncertain times called PIVOT. The acronym stands for position, imagination, voice, opportunity, and training. POSITION: In this moment, we are all approaching the challenge from a different place. For example, if you were responsible with finances before, you will respond differently than someone who is hanging by a thread. However, there is no time for regret. Understand where you are, then take advantage of that position. IMAGINATION: Get creative and see how you can maximize this time with new ideas and tackle your problems with innovative solutions. VOICE: What kind of messages are you putting in your head? Be intentional about who you listen to. On the flip side, make sure your voice is being heard by your customers and team with strong communication. OPPORTUNITY: If you are not an essential business right now, take this time to partner with someone who is an essential business. There will be opportunities even in these hard times and it's up to you to spot them. TRAINING: Take this time to work on your business, learn something new, learn something you can do right now or in the future for your team and clients. Finding Inspiration in Crisis You need to have a vision that inspires you from within, and positive motivation from outside sources. This means you should stop listening to news and gossip that may be impacting you negatively. Organization, Priorities, and Training “What a beautiful opportunity to get your infrastructure together so that when things get back to normal, you have transformed.” Howard highlights a few areas you should focus on organizing and implementing systems in your business that will support your priorities. Financial: If you have high-end clients, you could roll out a “pay now, play later” business.Communication: Utilize your newsletter/email list to offer value to your clients with content.Training: Consider how you can support your team whether it is by not penalizing them if they do not want to work due to the virus or offering part-time opportunities and further education and training via online resources. Personal Growth: Invest time in your own training to learn the marketing strategies, leadership concepts, and how you can build or improve systems you have been putting off giving your time and attention to.Future Planning: Consider how you can prepare for the future. What is your plan for after this passes over? How can you be better prepared in the case of future emergencies and unforeseen circumstances? Positive Mindset Howard emphasizes the power of shutting down the negative mindset and focusing on the positive. When you have gratitude, you have less time to let fear in. It could be a lot worse for many of us. “Keep your head up and your eyes open and look for those opportunities. Look for the silver lining.” You can learn more about Howard's endeavors and resources at his site, HowardPartridge.com.

This was a rapid fire Q&A where I dove in to A LOT of amazing questions! Make sure you join the Facebook Group before September is up! Topics Covered: 4:35 - Is it possible to hit a point in your lifting where you truly max out despite continuing to train at it? Specifically I am talking about my back squat, it's been over two years and my back squat PR won't move. I back squat often, I train variations like paused back squats, low volume, high volume, I worked on my glute strength and activation, strengthened my hamstrings, worked on bracing...I feel like I've done all the things and while my PR has improved as far as coming up out of it faster I feel like I've hit a wall. Please tell me I have not reached my true potential? 10:45 - Training - What approach would you suggest to build up hamstrings & glutes for someone who sits a lot for their job? Seems like whenever I try to do squats I'm wrecked for days. 17:35 - Nutrition - Are you putting out any other recipe books in the future? 19:25 - Supplement - At what point would using adaptogens be recommended vs just reducing stress? 21:25 - Random - If you could only drink one coffee for the rest of your life what would it be & how would it be prepared? 23:22 - What are your current physique goals? 28:30 - When is it safe to actively lose fat after you recovered from hypothalamic amenorrhea that lasted years rather than months? What is the safest way to lose some of the weight you had to gain to get your period back providing there's no deadlines and no performance goals? 32:23 - Proper way of measuring vegetables like squash which has hit amounts of water prior to cooking and is soggy when cooked. Weight changes so it is a bit confusing to be accurate 35:54 - Ok, so I want to tackle a marathon during my 35th year of life, so, January sometime. If so , I want to challenge my bod to do an ultramarathon, relays, maybe a hike to Machu Picchu. Best training plan you have and best way to avoid overuse injuries along the way? 38:10 - I would like to know your opinion on power naps. Are they beneficial after a rough or short night? Or does it hinder your sleep in the evening? 40:00 - Recommendations on lifting for endurance athletes 42:35 - How would you personally go about trying to maintain as close to your recent photoshoot physique as you could? 46:35 - When coming out of a cutting phase and starting a reverse diet, how many cals would you recommend to increase each week to minimize fat gain? 50:07 - Are cold showers every day / ice baths / /cold packs etc. beneficial for someone who's almost always freezing in the cold months ? Is it also beneficial if that's because of thyroid problem? 52:15 - Best approach for an underweight man to build muscle and strength? I feel like the usual recommendation with 100-200 calories surplus per day is way to low to see any noticeable progress 55:25 - I'd like to hear you talk about how the nutrition coaching process works for your team please. Philosophy, how check-ins work, how you pair a client with a coach, etc. thanks! ---- Get Your Free Copy of The Nutrition Hierarchy, HERE Learn How We Coach: Read This Case Study Article Top 4 Episodes: - Nutritional Periodization - Nutrition FAQ - Training FAQ - My Story Things Mentioned: Sleep Podcast 1 Sleep Podcast 2 All Training Program/Ebooks Online Coaching ---- You can get access to ALL of our content in one place, now: www.boomboomperformance.com/links Join The Boom Boom Elite (BBP's Membership Site) to receive exclusive content and interviews, monthly training programs, bonus eBooks, the private coaching forum, and more by visiting www.boomboomperformance.com/elite ASK BOOM-BOOM YOUR QUESTION HERE! : www.boomboomperformance.com/podcast Check out all of our e-books by visiting https://www.boomboomperformance.com/products To Apply For Coaching With Boom Boom Performance, visit – htthttp://bit.ly/Coaching-Pod Social Links: Blog – www.boomboomperformance.com Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/boomboomperformance/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/cody.boomboom/ YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/user/BoomBoomPerformance Email – info@boomboomperformance.com

TRAINING - What is Dialogue? by Element3 Church G2 Leadership
My Podner in this episode is Robert Bilotti and he's going to talk to us about franchisee onboarding and training. We will dive deep into “training theory” and then wrap it all up with a step-by-step discussion on how a new franchisor needs to set up a training program for franchisees. Time Stamps Rob Bilotti Intro 00:00:40 Segment 1 00:02:31 Get to know Rob Bilotti Segment 2 00:18:55 Topic Segment – Franchisee Training and Onboarding Segment 3 01:14:03 Quickdraw Questions Topics discussed in this episode: The difference between a franchise system and a collection of mom and pops is “Training” What is the difference between onboarding and training? When do I need to hire a full-time trainer? What to train versus how to train Can a start-up franchisor use the operations manual as the training program at first? Your first franchisees will be some of the most important validators of the concept, and if you skimp on training up front, it will come back to bite you. Your most important franchisee is the first one after the former employee, friends, and family franchisees. That is the one that will really be the proof of concept. Be sure that you have a solid training program BEFORE that franchisee starts. Invest in a learning management system (LMS) early What is an LMS? How does training change when you are in growth mode? How to select an LMS right for your system Moodle is a free, open source LMS Look for a user-friendly system (from the administrative perspective) and a nimble system. Learn this by doing lots of demos and talking to other companies that use an LMS. Google is a great resource. LMS support is probably one of the most important features. Usually, the more you pay, the more support you get. What are the different modes of training (modality)? In person Instructor Led Virtual Instructor Led Virtual Learning Videos Print Audio Knowledge Sharing (wiki learning) If you set up a mentoring program to help train new franchisees, be sure to invest in a training program for the mentors so they can be trained in how to train. There is a difference between lecturing and facilitation when it comes to training. There is not one modality that is best for everybody. There is not a “one size fits all” when it comes to training. Survey your franchisees, and do it often, how you are doing with training. Don't just capture “smile sheets”, rather actionable information. This should happen every 3 to 6 months. You CAN measure return on investment in training, especially in a franchise system. Use gust satisfaction surveys to draw training topics. What are the steps that a start-up franchisor needs to follow to develop a training program? Step1: Document – document – document. What makes your business a success. Step 2: What can you expand on from that? Create actionable content from that documentation? This is the “what”. Step 3: Determine how you will take that information and disseminate it to the people who need it? This would be the franchisee and their employees. This is the “how”. Step 4: Determine how you will support your franchisees in their training efforts to their employees. Step 5: Establish a mechanism for measuring the results of the training. Allow plenty of time to develop your training program. If you start developing your training program after you have signed your first franchisee then you have waited far too long. Small Biz Matters – a half hour program each week where you can work ON your business rather than IN it.with Alexi Boyd from Boyd Office Management ServicesDate: 30 October 2018 It’s important to keep learning when you’re running a small business but like so many aspects, it is often put on the backburner while we work in our business rather than in it. But many of us don’t realise that further learning is right on our doorstep. Here from Hornsby - Ku-ring-gai Community College we have Inga Rosenberg; who looks after the enrolments for the business courses - and there are many! From Certificates in Business Administration through to MYOB Training, Starting your Own Business courses - and many of them are fully funded. Welcome to the show Inga. As part of Small Business month we like to raise awareness of some of the opportunities the over 14,000 small businesses have in our local government area. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, over 60% of small businesses close within the first three years of operating. The reasons vary but often include that new businesses are not aligned with customer needs, have a poor business model, poor financial management or lack of proper training. As your local Community College, we can play a big role in providing government funded education and training to small business owners and their employees, as well as to job seekers to qualify for personal and business growth, wellbeing and the advancement of community values. Coaching, Mentoring or Training - What's the Difference? On previous episodes we have discussed Mentoring in Sales (42), we have also discussed Coaching vs Training (79). This week we discuss all three approaches in the context of personal development and improving capabilities. We share our thoughts on the differences between Coaching, Mentoring, and Training, why one approach may be better than another, and when it might make sense to combine methods. Questions Addressed What's the difference between Coaching & Mentoring? How do you know if you need a coach or a mentor? How important is it to be coachable? How do I know if I should work with a coach? How can we connect with Catalyst Sale to discuss coaching? How do you know if Training, Coaching, or Mentoring is a better fit? Key Takeaways Coaching tends to be focused on the current task, or skill. The coach and the person receiving the coaching, are looking at ways to optimize. Mentoring tends to consider the bigger picture. There may be more ambiguity. It is less about the skill, more about the longer term objective. Good mentors should also be able to coach. Coaches, on the other hand, may not be good mentors. When considering skills improvement, coaching may be a better solution. i.e. cooking. When working on improving your skills in the kitchen, a coach can help you by being in the kitchen. The coach should be there, with you, and provide coaching in real time. Coaches look for the subtle changes that can make a significant impact - they look for the details. Mentoring is a bit more philosophical. The relationship between mentee and mentor is critical. Coaching may be a bit more tactical. The relationship between the coach and the player is not critical. Being coachable is crucial if you want to develop your skills. Ask yourself, if you are not coachable, if you have a big ego, how will you grow? It is important to have an open mind when working with a coach. You should have a solid understanding of where your deficiencies are. You may need a coach in an area, but you may be blind to it. This is where a mentor, a manager, a colleague, or others can make a recommendation. One way to overcome your blind spots is to shift your perspective. Fit with a mentor is really important. When it comes to coaching, the fit is not the focus, the results are more important. Skill development should lead to something With a coach, you should see direct skill improvement. With mentoring, am I moving in the right direction? Training tends to be more structured. Most cases 1:many, however a 1:1 approach may make sense in a training environment. If your objective is to "Learn something new" - Training may be a better solution Coaching tends to be task-based or skill based. 1:1 really works well with coaching. If your objective is to "Improve a specific skill" - Coaching may be the best approach Mentoring tends to be more open, less structured, relationship driven, future-focused, and the relationship will evolve. If your objective is to "Improve being/focus" - Finding and working with a mentor may work best As an example, when thinking about swimming - training works well at first, comfort around the pool, coaching might be specific to hand position in a given stroke, mentoring might be more focused on nutrition, pre-race prep, and mindset. Call to Action Ask yourself - Am I coachable? In what scenarios will a coach help me more than a mentor or participating in training? What information do you need to know before pursuing a medical malpractice suit?Medical malpractice is professional negligence by a healthcare provider. It occurs when a specific treatment provided falls below accepted standards of practice in the medical community and results in an injury or death in the patient receiving the treatment. It is often seen in outpatient care centers. These centers can seem appealing for certain procedures, since they can offer benefits of convenience and affordability. However, some outpatient centers may not have the proper equipment or staff on standby, ready to deal with an emergency.According to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), medical negligence is the third leading cause of death in the United States.Joan Rivers, 81, went into cardiac and respiratory arrest at an outpatient surgery clinic in Manhattan during an elective vocal cord procedure and was then rushed six minutes across town to Mount Sinai Hospital for emergency care.
