In the last few episodes, I've shared thoughts from sisters who have been listening to this podcast. In this episode I continue sharing women's thoughts and stories. Storytelling "is our religious heritage and essential to our future of bringing others unto Christ." One woman responded to a question about how women in the church can accomplish what President Kimbal stated about women of the Church being seen in articulate and happy ways. Another sister shared a few stories about how subtle sexism plays out in the Church as well. Stories matter. We need to figure out how to better support each other.

S. special government employee, best known for his key roles in Tesla, Inc. and SpaceX, and his ownership of Twitter. Musk is the wealthiest individual in the world; as of February 2025, Forbes estimates his net worth to be US$397 billion. A member of the wealthy South African Musk family, Musk was born in Pretoria before immigrating to Canada, acquiring its citizenship. He moved to California in 1995 to attend Stanford University, and with his brother Kimbal co-founded the software company Zip2, that was later acquired by Compaq in 1999. That same year, Musk co-founded X.com, a direct bank, that later formed PayPal. In 2002, Musk acquired U. S. citizenship, and eBay acquired PayPal. In 2022, he acquired Twitter, and rebranded the service as X the following year. His political activities and views have made him a polarizing figure. He has been criticized for making unscientific and misleading statements, including COVID-19 misinformation, affirming antisemitic and transphobic comments, and promoting conspiracy theories. His acquisition of Twitter was controversial due to a subsequent increase in hate speech and the spread of misinformation on the service. Musk has engaged in political activities in several countries, including as a vocal and financial supporter of U. S. president Donald Trump. He was the largest donor in the 2024 United States presidential election, and is a supporter of far-right activists, causes, and political parties.

This Day in Legal History: The Incorporation of the City of New AmsterdamOn this day in legal history, February 2nd marks a significant moment with the incorporation of the City of New Amsterdam in 1653 by the Dutch Republic. This historic event laid the groundwork for what would become one of the most influential cities in the world. Situated on the southern tip of Manhattan Island, New Amsterdam served as a pivotal trading and administrative center of the Dutch colony of New Netherland. Its strategic location played a crucial role in the burgeoning trade network between the New World and Europe. However, the city's Dutch identity was not to last. In 1664, following the British conquest, New Amsterdam underwent a profound transformation, symbolized by its renaming to New York in honor of the Duke of York. This change marked a significant shift not just in governance but in the cultural and legal fabric of the city. The British takeover introduced English legal practices and administrative structures, which would influence the development of New York and, by extension, the emerging United States.Today, as we reflect on the incorporation of New Amsterdam, we recognize it as a moment of convergence between Dutch and English legal traditions that would shape the character of New York City. The legacy of this transformation is still evident in the city's diverse cultural tapestry, its role as a global economic powerhouse, and its legal system, which continues to influence international law and commerce. The story of New Amsterdam's incorporation and its subsequent renaming to New York serves as a reminder of the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of legal and urban history.Proskauer, a prominent Big Law firm, has successfully reached a confidential settlement with its former chief operating officer, Jonathan O'Brien, concluding a legal battle over allegations of trade secret theft. This dispute centered on O'Brien's accused misappropriation of sensitive electronic files detailing the firm's finances, business strategies, and billing rates. Proskauer initiated the lawsuit following O'Brien's sudden resignation in December 2022, amid claims he intended to utilize these files for a prospective position at competing firm Paul Hastings—a move that ultimately did not transpire. O'Brien has contested these accusations, arguing his actions were merely to facilitate work related to his departure while on vacation in a remote location. The settlement, detailed in a court submission, seeks a permanent injunction preventing O'Brien from retaining or employing the disputed confidential materials. Despite the resolution, representatives for both parties have yet to publicly comment on the matter. Before this legal fray, O'Brien, a UK national non-lawyer, had contributed five years of service as Proskauer's COO.Proskauer Reaches Settlement with Ex-COO in Trade Secrets RowThe verdict in the $370 million civil fraud case against former U.S. President Donald Trump, overseen by Justice Arthur Engoron, is now expected to be delivered in early to mid-February, following a three-month trial last year. Initially, Justice Engoron aimed to conclude by the end of January, but this timeline has been extended. The lawsuit, filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James, accuses Trump and his family businesses of inflating his net worth by up to $3.6 billion annually over ten years to obtain favorable loan conditions. Trump has rebutted these claims, denouncing the lawsuit as a politically motivated attack by James, a Democrat. If found liable, Trump could face significant consequences, including monetary penalties and a permanent ban from the New York real estate sector, significantly impacting his business operations within the state. This legal battle unfolds as Trump campaigns for the Republican nomination to run against President Joe Biden in the upcoming election. Engoron had previously determined in September that Trump committed fraud, leading to an order to partially dissolve his business empire, a decision Trump is appealing. The final arguments were made on January 11, with Trump criticizing Engoron directly in court for alleged bias, prompting a call for decorum from the judge.Trump civil fraud verdict now expected by mid-February | ReutersActivist investors at Tesla are poised to leverage a recent Delaware court ruling against CEO Elon Musk's $56 billion stock compensation package to push for corporate governance reforms. The court's decision, which criticized Tesla's board for its deference to Musk, has emboldened these investors, who have struggled in the past to secure significant changes at shareholder meetings. They argue that the ruling could sway major index funds and investors to support their resolutions, such as altering the voting threshold for corporate changes to a simple majority. Tesla has not yet scheduled its annual shareholder meeting, typically held in May, where only a few directors, including Musk's brother Kimbal and James Murdoch, are up for re-election. Both directors previously faced opposition from proxy advisers over concerns related to executive compensation, and activist investors expect advisory firms like ISS and Glass Lewis to bolster their case against Tesla's board this year. Additionally, a new shareholder resolution proposes annual re-elections for all directors, challenging the current staggered board system. With Musk holding a significant voting stake, critics will need support from major mutual fund holders to effect change. The Delaware judge's scathing review of the board's negotiation process for Musk's compensation plan may also prompt Tesla's top investors to reconsider their stance on governance issues.Tesla activist investors to seize on Elon Musk pay ruling | ReutersTexas Supreme Court Justice John Devine has been notably absent from more than half of the court's oral arguments since the current term began in September, opting instead to campaign for re-election. Despite the critical nature of the cases being heard, including those concerning Texas' abortion ban and laws regarding medical treatment for transgender children, Devine has missed 28 of the 50 argued cases. His absence from these proceedings, while not violating the state's elections code, has sparked debate about his ability to fulfill his judicial responsibilities. Devine, who is running for a third term and faces a primary challenge, defends his campaign activities as part of his duties, asserting that he remains informed by reviewing case briefs and watching archived video of the proceedings he misses. However, this approach prevents him from directly questioning lawyers during arguments, potentially impacting his grasp of complex legal issues. Critics, including his primary opponent Justice Brian Walker, argue that Devine's priorities may not align with the judicial code of conduct, which emphasizes the precedence of judicial duties over other activities. Despite the controversy, Devine's campaign has been financially successful, raising significant funds and outpacing his opponent in the lead-up to the primary. This situation underscores the tension between the demands of electoral politics and the expectations of judicial office, highlighting the unique challenges faced by elected judges in balancing these roles.Justice Misses Half of Texas Supreme Court Arguments to CampaignThis week's closing music features the vibrant Allegro from Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64, a masterpiece that has captivated audiences and performers alike with its lyrical beauty and innovative structure. It was Mendelssohn's final concerto before his untimely death due to illness at the age of 38. Born on February 3, 1809, in Hamburg, Germany, Mendelssohn was a musical prodigy who made significant contributions to the Romantic era, both as a composer and conductor. This weekend marks the anniversary of his birth, and if he were alive today, Mendelssohn would be celebrating his 215th birthday. His Violin Concerto, premiered in 1845, stands as one of the most important and beloved works in the violin repertoire, admired for its emotional depth and technical brilliance. Mendelssohn's ability to blend classical forms with the expressive power of the Romantic era is exemplified in this concerto, particularly in the seamless flow from the first movement into the second, a departure from traditional concerto form that was innovative at the time. This recording, a testament to Mendelssohn's enduring legacy, is made available through the generosity of the University of Chicago Orchestra and under a Creative Commons license, allowing us to appreciate and share the genius of Mendelssohn's compositions. As we listen to the Allegro from his Violin Concerto, we highlight not only Mendelssohn's contribution to music but also the spirit of innovation and expression that defines the Romantic era. If you're looking for more Mendelssohn, and who among us is not, I highly recommend the performance by Ray Chen, available on YouTube and linked in the shownotes.  Get full access to Minimum Competence - Daily Legal News Podcast at www.minimumcomp.com/subscribe

How much more effective could you be at creating everything you want for your life if you had a detailed (aka “vivid”) vision of where you're going? Without a clear vision, it's easy for us to get pulled in different directions and end up arriving somewhere less than ideal. That's why I'm excited to talk to my friend, Cameron Herold. Cameron is the co-author of The Miracle Morning for Entrepreneurs, founder of the COO Alliance and author of Vivid Vision: A Remarkable Tool For Aligning Your Business Around a Shared Vision of the Future. Cameron's the guy to talk to if you want to gain exceptional clarity in your life (or business) to make your goals a reality. In our conversation, you'll learn Cameron's strategy for creating a Vivid Vision for your life, why setting bigger goals motivates you to achieve them, and the habits that make top performers successful. You'll also hear Cameron talk about his experience living with monks, what he learned from working with Elon Musk's brother, Kimbal, and how to put yourself in a peak emotional, physical, and spiritual state so you can improve your life and the lives of those around you. KEY TAKEAWAYS What living in a monastery taught Cameron about being present and living a spiritually rich life. Stop waiting for motivation to arrive! Learn how bigger goals can fuel you to achieve what you thought was impossible. Why you should enjoy the process instead of always worrying about the outcomes. The greatest obstacles that prevent people from achieving their goals. The importance of surrounding yourself with smart people that will hold you accountable and push you forward. Top performers know when it's time to take action to achieve their goals. Others search for the magic bullet. The importance of anticipating setbacks and only focusing on things you can control. Perfection is the enemy of progress. Be kind to yourself when you slip up, and do better tomorrow. Billed as the first non-profit-led philanthropic DAO, this experiment is aiming to use the power of decentralization and automation to impact lives on the most basic level. We get to look ahead to the future vision of the project, and Kimbal talks about the cyclical nature of growth seasons in all industries and how this compares to the projects for decentralized technology. “If nothing else comes of the DAO, the community itself is the most wonderful, beautiful thing I've ever seen in the non-profit space, and I've been working in this space for 12 years.” — @kimbal Key Points From This Episode The current work and projects that are getting Kimbal most excited. My wife Kim hadn't had a full night's rest in over a year and a half. To be honest, neither had I, but mine is more self-inflicted pain because I have personal projects like this podcast (which I love by the way). But regardless, Kim needed to get some sleep. The culprit was our absolutely wonderful little potato Kimbal, who is now 19 months. There's no other way to say this -- at night, she wanted the boob, she wanted it bad. And nothing was going to stop her.So to start weaning her off the boob, Kim and I hatched a plan. It was time for me to step up, take the lead, and put our little Kimbaluchis to sleep. But we had a challenge -- Juniper, our now 4 year old, is used to me putting her to sleep. And you know this, kids don't like change. If Juniper expects me to put her to sleep and all of a sudden I put Kimbal to sleep, there's going to be some jealousy; there's going to be some tears; there's going to be some yelling. And we like to avoid those as much as possible. So we know what needed to be done -- I needed to put Kimbal to sleep. And we knew the challenge -- Juniper expected me to put her to sleep. So how can we get this done without causing shouting, tears, and tantrums? On today's episode, we learn how to pull off the inception technique. The key, as we'll find out, is encouraging and guiding, versus demanding and forcing.---Book recommendation in this episode: Hunt, Gather, Parent. Thank you for joining me today on Dad Smarter Not Harder.I want your feedback, questions, anything really. How To Support The Next Generation Of Farmers | This episode is brought to you by Four SigmaticThe average age of a farmer in the United States today is 58 years old. And it’s been projected that about 40% of the continental United States’ farm and ranch acreage will have changed hands between 2015 and 2035. However, young people who are looking to get into farming are unfortunately faced with a number of barriers to entry, including difficulty accessing land, education, and financing. This is why it is so important that we begin to spur business innovation and create policy supports to bring in the next generation of farmers, and innovators in the food system.Dr. Hyman explored these topics in three conversations he had last year with guests Kimbal Musk, Tobias Peggs, and Danielle Nierenberg.Kimbal Musk is a chef, restaurateur, and philanthropist. His personal mission is to pursue an America where everyone has access to real food. He’s been named a Global Social Entrepreneur by the World Economic Forum and is the co-founder and Executive Chairman of three businesses—The Kitchen Restaurant Group, Big Green, and Square Roots—with real food missions that are rapidly growing across the US. The Kitchen Restaurant Group (with its three concepts Next Door, Hedge Row, and The Kitchen) serves real food at every price point and has created over a thousand mission-driven jobs. The restaurants source sustainably grown food from American farmers, stimulating the local farm economy to the tune of millions of dollars a year. Kimbal’s nonprofit organization, Big Green, builds permanent, outdoor Learning Garden classrooms in hundreds of underserved schools across America reaching over 350,000 students every day. His tech-enabled food company, Square Roots, builds urban farms in climate-controlled shipping containers with the mission to bring real food to people in cities around the world by empowering next-gen farmers. Tobias Peggs is co-founder and CEO of Square Roots, the Brooklyn-based urban farming company known for changing the way people think about growing local food and training the country’s future generations of farmers. Previously, he led Aviary, a mobile photo editing company as its CEO until its acquisition by Adobe, and was also CEO at OneRiot, a social media analytics company, acquired by Walmart. Tobias grew up in England and has a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from Cardiff University. Danielle Nierenberg co-founded the non-profit Food Tank in 2013 as an organization focused on building a global community for safe, healthy, nourished eaters. Prior to starting Food Tank, Danielle spent two years traveling to more than 60 countries across sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and Latin America, meeting with farmers and farmers’ groups, scientists and researchers, policymakers and government leaders, students and academics, along with journalists, documenting what’s working to help alleviate hunger and poverty, while protecting the environment at the same time.Find Dr. Hyman’s full-length conversation with Kimbal Musk, “How To Fix Nutrition In Schools,” here: https://DrMarkHyman.lnk.to/KimbalMuskFind Dr. Hyman’s full-length conversation with Tobias Peggs, “What Is Hyper-Local Food?” here: https://DrMarkHyman.lnk.to/TobiasPeggsFind Dr. Hyman’s full-length conversation with Danielle Nierenberg, “How One Woman is Transforming the Food System,” here: https://DrMarkHyman.lnk.to/DanielleNierenbergThis episode is brought to you by Four Sigmatic. Show #685   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Sunday 2nd Sunday February 2020. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story to save you time.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   PORSCHE CHARGING SERVICE PRICES: IONITY FROM €0.33/KWH "Porsche, just like many other manufacturers that are introducing electric cars, launched a dedicated service to offer access to multiple charging networks under a single contract authorization account and pricing scheme. The Porsche Charging Service currently includes more than 100,000 AC and DC charging points in 10 countries, as well as around 1,000 Porsche Destination Charging (AC) points "for guests of selected hotels, golf courses or marinas in 20 countries"." reports InsideEVs: "The most important part of the service seems to be access to the IONITY fast-charging network in Europe, which is key to enable long-distance travel and utilize the potential of charging Porsche Taycan at up to 270 kW. As the IONITY ad-hoc prices are €0.79 per kWh, Porsche offers a significant discount to €0.33 per kWh (or equivalent). The Porsche Charging Service comes with a basic annual fee of €179 (or equivalent), but it's free for the first three years. Those who would use the service solely to get a discounted rate at IONITY,would need to charge at least 389 kWh per year (almost eight 50 kWh recharges) to offset the €179, by paying €0.46 per kWh less than ad-hoc."   https://insideevs.com/news/396265/porsche-charging-service-prices-ionity/   TOTAL AND GROUPE PSA UNVEIL $5BN EV BATTERY HUB IN FRANCE "A $5.5bn electric vehicle battery manufacturing programme is to be launched in France with the aim of producing one million batteries a year – up to 15 per cent of the European market. The project is a joint venture called Automotive Cell Company and has been established by four French companies: Total and its battery-making subsidiary Saft, and car manufacturing giant Groupe PSA and its affiliate Opel." says Power Engineering INternational: "Work will start on the facility next year and it is expected to start producing EV batteries in 2023. The first phase of the total $5bn project will focus on R&D, including the building of a $220m pilot plant on the land of Saft’s existing Nersac facility. This will trigger an investment decision for a large-scale production plant of 8 GWh initially, rising later to 24 GWh, in the northern Hauts-de-France region. This will be followed by a second one of equal capacity in Germany, with the ambition to reach 48 GWh of combined capacity by 2030"   https://www.powerengineeringint.com/2020/01/30/total-and-groupe-psa-unveil-5bn-ev-battery-hub-in-france/   VOLVO BUSES RECEIVES ORDER FOR 60 HIGH-CAPACITY ELECTRIC BUSES FROM MALMÖ "Scandinavian transport operator Nobina has ordered 60 Volvo high-capacity electric buses which will enter service in Malmö, Sweden next year." says Green Car Contress: "The electric high-capacity buses ordered by Nobina in Malmö are of the Volvo 7900 Electric Articulated model, which was launched in autumn 2019. They can carry up to 150 passengers and are 80% more energy-efficient than corresponding diesel models. The buses are propelled by dual electric motors with a two-speed transmission. The Lithium-ion batteries have up to 396 kWh energy storage capacity."   https://www.greencarcongress.com/2020/02/20200201-volvo.html   A TESLA MODEL 3 GOES FROM ROLLED ALUMINUM TO A FINISHED VEHICLE IN 48 HOURS "Tesla takes raw sheets of rolled aluminum and turns them, along with hundreds of other parts, into finished vehicles at its factory in Fremont, California, in less than 48 hours." according to Clean Technica who listened to a 3rd Row Podcast with Elon and Kimbal Musk: "On the manufacturing front, Kimbal was the one who broached the subject. “What I find amazing is from start to finish, a car is made in 48 hours,” Kimbal said. He talked about the reels of aluminum stock that Tesla uses in its stamping press to form body panels and how the company turns jumbles of parts and raw materials into fully formed vehicles in less than 48 hours. “You can see the rolled aluminum in one section of the factory and you can see the cars coming out the other end.”"   https://cleantechnica.com/2020/01/31/teslas-vehicles-go-from-rolled-aluminum-to-a-finished-vehicle-in-48-hours/   QUESTION OF THE WEEK ANSWERS   STEVE WILLIAMS Keep releasing the single topic bonus editions that delve into deeper issues such as the Tesla only or breaking news on a big game change.   BEANS OFF GRID I would like more info on battery tech developments on EV daily   FROG ROOSTER Martin instead of reading out all the names I would prefer to know how much the electricity companies are charging  per KW at their superchargers, so we know who to avoid !   ROMAIN If you had an opportunity for a couple minutes interview with someone close to one of the news subjects, that'd be awesome!   MITCHELL BARNOW I love your podcast, but I really wish that there’d be a reason to “watch” your YouTube channel.  Rob Maurer of Tesla Daily, @TeslaPodcast , just made his YouTube channel a show to watch.   CHRIS HOPKINS For QOTW I would love to see more interviews with people in the industry.  I assume with your growing following you can really start pulling in some big names that could have a lot of insight.   Even interviewing public officials who are part of agencies making a difference in the EV revolution would be very interesting to me.   PAUL CAMILLERI This year I would like to hear the podcast focus entirely on news content. If this means the podcast is shorter/more stories/greater in depth that would be terrific.   DAVID TRIMBLE Why not have a regular spot where you highlight the used EV market and focus on specific examples of prices to highlight the great deals out there   MARTIN YOUNG I suggest that for your Sunday show you take a break from the news and dedicate the entire show to sharing some of the comments you've received during the week.  I would really like to hear the insights and experiences of my fellow listeners, and I believe it would further help to build a sense of community among the listeners of your amazing podcast! I would also like to hear more "Saturday Special" interviews like you have done several times in the past   PETER BRYN Every time I hear your opening line, “I go through all the EV stories...” I’m still expecting you to say, “so you don’t have to.”   BEN WOOD My suggestion for what you could add to improve EV news daily would be interviews with people in the EV industry about job opportunities. They could explain what sort of qualifications they look for as well as experience and skills. I and im sure many other people who listen to your podcast would like to get a job in an industry that is exciting, rapidly growing and helping to save the planet for future generations. These interviews could be with EV manufacturers, car converters, charger manufacturers, charging networks, energy providers etc. If it was done as a weekend special it may also get sponsored by companies wishing to have jobs within the EV industry advertised on the podcast (as it would be advertising to people who have a genuine interest in the industry).   MIKE BERWICK maybe when you tell us about new up and coming cars you could quote the maximum possible charging speeds as this is important on those occasional long trips. I know this information isn’t relevant for (in range trips) we will always have a time where we need to take a trip that’s out of range.   JOHN SHELLEY Something different for the podcast in 2020, could you change your outtro ? We get it, ‘there’s no such thing as a self charging hybrid’ !!!   ALEX IN MONTREAL I would love you to do more with your Instagram channel as Twitter isn’t my thing   So: Saturday specials, recruitment, Instagram, back to the old intro, used car features.     NEW QUESTION OF THE WEEK The MYEV.com Question Of The Week…   On a scale on 1-10, (1 being not at all, 10 being completely) how much does/did environment come into your love of EVs?   I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the 231 patrons of this podcast whose generosity means I get to keep making this show, which aims to entertain and inform thousands of listeners every day about a brighter future. By no means do you have to check out Patreon but if it’s something you’ve been thinking about, by all means look at patreon.com/evnewsdaily   [mention for Premium Partners]   You can listen to all 684 previous episodes of this this for free, where you get your podcasts from, plus the blog https://www.evnewsdaily.com/ – remember to subscribe, which means you don’t have to think about downloading the show each day, plus you get it first and free and automatically.   It would mean a lot if you could take 2mins to leave a quick review on whichever platform you download the podcast.   And if you have an Amazon Echo, download our Alexa Skill, search for EV News Daily and add it as a flash briefing.   Come and say hi on Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter just search EV News Daily, have a wonderful day, I’ll catch you tomorrow and remember…there’s no such thing as a self-charging hybrid.     PHIL ROBERTS / ELECTRIC FUTURE (PREMIUM PARTNER) BRAD CROSBY (PREMIUM PARTNER) AVID TECHNOLOGY (PREMIUM PARTNER)   DAVID ALLEN (PARTNER) OEM AUDIO OF NEW ZEALAND AND EVPOWER.CO.NZ (PARTNER) PAUL O’CONNOR (PARTNER) TRYEV.COM (PARTNER) GARETH HAMER eMOBILITY NORWAY HTTPS://WWW.EMOBILITYNORWAY.COM/  (PARTNER) ALAN ROBSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ALAN SHEDD (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ALEX BANAHENE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ALEXANDER FRANK @ https://www.youtube.com/c/alexsuniverse42 ANDERS HOVE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ANDREA JEFFERSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ASEER KHALID (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ASHLEY HILL (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) BÅRD FJUKSTAD (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) BARRY PENISTON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) BRENT KINGSFORD (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) BRIAN THOMPSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) BRIAN WEATHERALL (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) BRUCE BOHANNAN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) CHARLES HALL (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) CHRIS HOPKINS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) COLIN HENNESSY (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) CRAIG COLES (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) CRAIG COOPER (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) CRAIG ROGERS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAMIEN DAVIS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAN FAIRS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DARREN BYRD (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DARREN FEATCH (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DARREN SANT FROM YORKSHIRE EV CLUB (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAVE DEWSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAVID BARKMAN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAVID FINCH (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAVID PARTINGTON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DAVID PRESCOTT (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) DEREK REILLY FROM THE DUBLIN EV OWNERS CLUB DON MCALLISTER / SCREENCASTSONLINE.COM (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ENRICO STEPHAN-SCHILOW (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) FREDRIK ROVIK (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) FREEJOULE AKA JAMES (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) GENE RUBIN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) GEOFF LOWE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) IAN GRIFFITHS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) IAN SEAR (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JACK OAKLEY (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JAMES STORR (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JERRY ALLISON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JIM MORRIS (EXECUTIVE PRODICERS) JOHN BAILEY (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JOHN LACEY FROM CLICK CLACK VIDEO NZ (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JON AKA BEARDY MCBEARDFACE FROM KENT EVS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JON KNODEL (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) JUAN GONZALEZ (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) KEN MORRIS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) KEVIN MEYERSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) KYLE MAHAN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) LARS DAHLAGER (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) LAURENCE D ALLEN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) LEE BROWN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) LUKE CULLEY (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MARCEL LOHMANN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MARCEL WARD (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MARK BOSSERT (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MARLIN SCHELL (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MATT PISCIONE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MATTHEW ELLIS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MAZ SHAR (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MIA OPPELSTRUP (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MICHAEL PASTRONE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MICHEAEL KYFFIN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MIKE ROGERS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) MIKE WINTER (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) NATHAN GORE-BROWN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) NEIL E ROBERTS FROM SUSSEX EVS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) NORTHERN EXPLORERS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) OHAD ASTON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PAUL RIDINGS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PAUL SHELLEY ((EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PAUL STEPHENSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PERRY SIMPKINS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PETE GLASS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PETE GORTON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PETER & DEE ROBERTS FROM OXON EVS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER)  PHIL MOUCHET (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) PONTUS KINDBLAD (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) RAJEEV NARAYAN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) RALPH JENSON (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) RENÉ SCHNEIDER (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ROB COOLING / HTTP://WWW.APPLEDRIVING.CO.UK/ (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ROB HERMANS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ROBERT GRACE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) ROBIN TANNER (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) RUPERT MITCHELL (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) SARI KANGASOJA (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) SEIKI PAYNE (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) STEPHEN PENN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) STEVE JOHN (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) STUART HANNAH (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) THOMAS J. Well good morning, good afternoon and good evening, wherever you are in the world, hello and welcome to the Monday 2nd July edition of EV News Daily. It’s Martyn Lee here with the news you need to know about electric cars and the move towards sustainable transport. I should know by now, never write a complete show and then just check what Elon Musk has tweeted. Never do it! I had a lovely show all ready to go and the he drops the bombshell. But it’s good, really good. Here’s the tweet, and then you and I will dig a bit: “7000 cars, 7 days ♥️ Tesla Team ♥️”   TESLA MADE 5,000 MODEL 3 A WEEK, 7,000 TOTAL CARS One of those famous Tesla email has leaked online but before we get to that, I'll read it out in a moment, I must say Elon was quiet over the weekend. For a very good reason, there's more to life that building cars or saving the planet. It's when your bro is getting married. Kimbal has celebrated his wedding to environmental activist Christiana Wyly in a lavish Girona wedding. Kimbal is famed for his iconic cowboy hat which remained a permanent fixture on his wedding day. So onto the email Elon sent to staff: "“We did it! What an incredible job by an amazing team. Couldn’t be more proud to work with you. It is an honor. The level of dedication and creativity was mind-blowing. We either found a way or, by will and inventiveness, created entirely new solutions that were thought impossible.“Not only did we factory gate 5000 Model 3’s, but we also achieved the S & X production target for a combined 7000 vehicle week!” So there we have it, confirmation ever Tesla Model 3 reservation holder wanted to hear, every EV hater thought would never happen. So my two initial thoughts - that's not an official company announcement, of course as a public company there will be a statement and report to the market. Secondly with all the attention on 3, it's a great reminder that the S and X are also being made at a rate of 2,000 per week. And remember, it was only in April that Tesla made 2,270 Model 3's a week. 5,000 is such important number for the company to be profitable in Q3 and Q4. A thought from Ben Sullins from Teslanomics: 5,000 cars times by $55k av price is $250m a week. And next week. And every week! Even if you say margins are 20% with a view to getting to 25%, that’s $50m.   I do love to read what Dana Hull has to say, long time Tesla writer but of lately, like many people, has seemed to delight a bit too much at any bad Tesla news. Which i always feel a little uncomfortable from some who's a journalist. Whereas this silly little podcast loves everything about EV's i'm not even pretending to be unbiased. if it's electric i love it!   For Bloomberg Dana says: "Tesla Inc. factory workers celebrated reaching a milestone of 5,000 Model 3 vehicles a week...according to workers who asked not to be identified, with one saying cheers were heard at the end of the line around 5 a.m. local time. A photograph of employees signing a banner welcoming them to the “Model 3 5K Club” was deleted from Twitter and remains on Reddit". When will get official numbers before July 4, although even that's not official. Or IS it official now Elon has tweeted. This is why some people hate Tesla because they're not playing by the rules they want them too, and I think it's great. So will the press who want to talk down Tesla dismiss it as burst rate, or unsustainable, or only because of a boy scout tent? Let's find out what they say. Business Insider didn't want to join the celebration: "It was not clear if Tesla could maintain that level of production for a longer period of time. Production of the Model 3 has been plagued by a number of issues, including problems with an over-reliance on automation on its assembly lines, battery issues and other bottlenecks." Jalopnik weren't ready congratulate them either: "the exact methods of building the car itself seemed like a work in progress at times. Production itself was plagued with issues over automation, batteries and apparent quality issues on early build cars." Surely CNBC wouldn't go to lengths to dampen the mood by pointing out it was actually after Midnight the final car was made? "Tesla nearly produced 5,000 Model 3 electric sedans in the last week of its second quarter, with the final car rolling off the assembly line on Sunday morning, several hours after the midnight goal" Surely we've got to find one positive article. I know, the source of it all, Reuters who first broke the news: "The company regularly engages in so-called “burst builds,” temporary periods of fast-as-possible production, which it uses to estimate how many cars it is capable of building over longer periods of time. Analyst Brian Johnson of Barclays warned investors in March to be wary of brief “burst rates” of Model 3 production that were not sustainable.”   CARLOS GHOSN: WHY CAR MAKERS MUST ADAPT - OR DIE Theo Leggeett from BBC.com has says: "Carlos Ghosn, the chairman and chief executive of Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi, is responsible for building more than 10 million vehicles a year. This week, on a UK visit, I asked him how much of a challenge the future presents to traditional car makers. Change is certainly coming. Faced with ever-stricter environmental rules and under intense pressure from politicians, manufacturers are at last investing heavily in electric cars." Mr Ghosn said: ""Some old-fashioned car companies will not be able to adapt, without any doubt. But not all car companies are old-fashioned, and not all will be unable to cope. We're investing a lot. We were the first company to offer mass market electric cars. Today we are the biggest seller and producer of electric cars. Obviously, for those who ignore the change, or avoid the change, it's going to be terrible," he adds. “For those who embrace it, obviously it's going to require a lot of effort, a lot of investment. But it could give them more opportunities for growth than we've ever had in the past."   https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-44662649   NISSAN ADD EXTRA DISCLAIMER TO THE LEAF Finally a few weeks back I saw a BBC reporter tweet that we was looking for people who has issues rapid charging their new LEAF and what do you know, now it has happened. Not a hatchet job, but very critical of Nissan. And also talking to people who believed the NEDC range was range - maybe not their fault, maybe the dealer, maybe they didn't research the car. But a bit rubbish to diss the car when you and I know NEDC has always been hypothetical. Anyway following more critisicm over the weekend, Brian Weatherall sent me a link to a brand new disclaimer on Nissan's website. And it's this: "**Rapid Charging: Figures quoted are for a 40kWh battery. Time dependent on charging conditions, including charger type and condition, battery temperature as well as ambient temperature at point of use. Indicated rapid charging time requires use of a CHAdeMO rapid charger. Nissan Electric Vehicles have charging safeguards to protect the battery during repeated fast charging sessions in a short period of time. The time taken for additional rapid charging (3+ successive procedures) can take longer if the battery temperature activates the battery safeguarding technology."   https://www.nissan.co.uk/vehicles/new-vehicles/leaf/range-charging.html   COMMUNITY Mike Winter tweet.   You can listen to all previous 164 episodes of this podcast on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, YouTube, TuneIn, Stitcher, and the blog https://www.evnewsdaily.com/ – remember to subscribe, which means you don’t have to think about downloading the show each day, plus you get it first and free and automatically. Ryan was delighted to have the chance to ask superstar entrepreneur Kimbal Musk a bunch of questions at the Capitalism Conference. He had a lot of interesting insights to offer, which you can implement in your business right now. Here are some of the main points:   Chase your passion Food's always been one of Kimbal's passions. He's turned that into a massively successful career as a social entrepreneur: growing, cooking, and selling real, healthy food to an increasingly overweight America. You can also find what really drives you, and use that to make decisions on the types of products and services you want to sell. Don't let people calling you crazy stop you If you want to make something new to sell to the public, a lot of people might think you're nuts. That could make you lose confidence and stop you in your tracks, but don't let it. Kimbal's encountered a number of “crazy” business ideas, but he doesn't dismiss them on that basis alone.   The Information Age will affect everything The interconnectedness created by technologies like the Internet has already made dramatic changes in how we live our lives. Kimbal sees those technologies as continuing to impact every industry in the years to come.   It was awesome talking with Kimbal Musk about his views on entrepreneurship!   Key takeaways: Chase your passion Don't let people calling you crazy stop you, and The Information Age will affect everything Connect with Kimbal Learn more about Kimbal at http://www.kimbalmusk.com/ On Facebook On Twitter Connect with Ryan Find more amazing podcast discussions on FreedomFastLane.com.   On Facebook On YouTube On LinkedIn On Twitter

I am a big fan of stories, so this week I am trying something new for the podcast. The following story is about a well known business leader. Try to figure out who it is before the end of the story where I reveal who it is.   This young boy was born in 1971 in South Africa. All through school he was bullied and picked on for various reasons. At one point the bullying became so bad that he was thrown down a flight of stairs and he had to be hospitalized.   In order to escape his harsh reality, this young boy turned his attention to space and computers and he combined the two to create a unique space themed computer game. In order to create the game he taught himself how to code at the age of 10. He finished creating his first PC game at the age of 12 and he sold this game for $500 to PC and Office Technology Magazine.   At the age of 19 he began college where he studied dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Business and Physics. While in college he ran into money problems and had to get creative in order to make ends meet. At one point in time he turned his house into a weekend night club in order to make some money. While his fellow students partied downstairs, this young man was upstairs playing video games. He graduated with his dual Bachelor’s Degrees and then attempted to get his PhD from Stanford, but he dropped out after only 2 days in the program.   From there he went on to start a company with his brother, Kimbal, which they ended up selling for millions of dollars four years later. He was also able to create and sell a money transfer service to Ebay for 1.5 million. After all of this time this man found that he was still extremely interested in space. He traveled the world looking for a way to get involved in a space program, however he ended up coming to the conclusion that it would be easier if he started his own space company. Therefore SpaceX was created.  Of course, you may know by now that this story is about none other than Elon Musk, the founder, current CEO and CTO of SpaceX and the co-founder, current CEO and architect of Tesla Motors.     (Music by Ronald Jenkees)

Andy Kimbel is a very talented folk and country-blues performer whose star is rising quickly on the national blues and folk scene. Listen to him play and you will hear the influences of traditional blues, folk, R&B and a touch of New Orleans style roots music. Hard to pigeonhole, Kimbel has been likened to Lightning Hopkins, John Hammond, Chris Smither and Leo Kotkke. He performs a unique selection of material that ranges from gentle ballads and pointed originals, to hard driving country blues and slide guitar using various tunings and harmonics. Interspersed between his own songs, Andy also includes songs ranging from traditional folk tunes to more contemporary ballads and delights in having the audience participate in many of the numbers. His own distinct interpretations set him apart and give even old traditional blues a new face. Andy is a great improviser, often re-inventing words and music using the themes of traditional blues stemming from the early 20’s to the mid 30’s. "His always expressive guitar playing ranges from frolicking and exuberant to driving and soulful. Whether picking, plucking, or using a skillful slide, Kimbel brings to the stage vision of the roots of American Music that conjures up everything from rambling railroad trains to dark and lonely nights of solitary traveling"... Pam Miller, Big Shout Magazine
