“If you're not growing, you're dying.” – Brent W. RempeIn this week's episode, Carol Schultz sits down with Brent Rempe (President & CEO of First Alliance Credit Union) to unpack what actually drives workplace evolution—and why most companies fail to make their values meaningful. Brent shares how his team redefined their mission, vision, and values after realizing the old ones didn't resonate, and how simplifying them into something tangible changed the direction of the organization.Brent explains why having too many values makes them forgettable, how organizations can embed values into hiring and performance systems, and why alignment matters more than raw output. They explore how behavioral interviews reveal real character, why pairing HR with hiring managers improves decision-making, and how growth can expose weaknesses inside a team. The conversation also touches on leadership realities—like imposter syndrome—and why purpose and storytelling are critical to keeping employees engaged. The episode closes with a practical look at how companies can create workplaces where people feel connected to the impact of their work, not just the job itself.TakeawaysMission, vision, and values only work if they are simple and actionableToo many values make culture harder to understand and applyValues should be embedded into hiring, performance, and daily decisionsBehavioral interviews help uncover genuine alignment—not rehearsed answersHR involvement improves hiring consistency and reduces biasGrowth without alignment can create internal frictionEmployees stay engaged when they feel their work has real impactStorytelling helps teams connect to purpose and meaningEven experienced leaders deal with imposter syndromeStrong culture creates momentum, not just complianceChapters00:03 Intro: What it means to evolve a workplace04:13 Rethinking mission, vision, and values05:14 Why simplicity in values matters07:33 The three core tools: mission, vision, values08:17 Embedding values into hiring and performance09:10 How to interview for alignment10:28 The role of HR in better hiring decisions15:58 Defining the ideal member and growth focus18:05 Looking beyond credit scores: human-centered decisions20:26 Growth challenges and team development26:19 Imposter syndrome among leaders31:25 Purpose, storytelling, and employee motivationConnect With Host Carol SchultzFind more information about our host Carol Schultz and her company at Vertical Elevation, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram.Want to be our next guest expert? But when you do that, you can automate 80% of the work that you previously were doing.”Jonathan: “I literally just tell Claude what I want to build, and then it maps it out for me. And then you kind of have a canvas that is like 60, 70, 80% there depending on the complexity.”Cody: “Your customers are your best advertisers, so taking their exact wording and phrases is for sure going to be an effective marketing strategy a lot of the time.”Actionable Takeaways for Founders, Marketers, and PodcastersStart with a Core Marketing Process: Identify a repeatable marketing workflow you fully understand before attempting to automate it.Invest in Audience Research Automation: Use tools to scrape and analyze discussions on Reddit, Twitter, and other platforms to extract customer pain points and language for your messaging[2].Bulk Generate and Test Creatives: Leverage AI to produce hundreds of ad variations, enabling rapid testing and optimization of creative assets.Automate Performance Analysis: Implement workflows to automatically pull and analyze campaign performance data, allowing you to focus on strategy and execution[8].Simplify Tool Accessibility: Build custom UIs for your automation tools to make them accessible for your entire team, not just engineers.Accelerate Workflow Development: Use AI-powered tools like Perplexity and Claude to generate automation scripts and reduce development time.Brought to you byTalentFiber – Hire top offshore engineers with US experience at half the cost of US hires. - talentfiber.comWhere to the find Guest: https://x.com/vibemarketer_ https://linktr.ee/vibemarketerResources Mentionedhttps://www.youtube.com/@nateherkhttps://www.youtube.com/@Mark_Kashefhttps://www.youtube.com/@AI-GPTWorkshop/videosRapidAPI – Access a wide range of third-party APIs for quick integrations. - rapidapi.comApify – Scrape websites and extract data at scale. - apify.comTwitterAPI.io – Free and affordable Twitter data scraping tool. - twitterapi.io

But how do you know if you're achieving them?” (02:01- 02:16)“The important thing about running a business or doing anything that you're going to improve is you need to be grounded in data because data removes all emotion.” (02:38 - 02:43)“We know that if it's green, we did a good job. If it's red, okay, we have an area of opportunity. And the reason I like that is because it adds meaning to those numbers. A number is just a number unless you say, okay, what does this mean? And if we see red this week, red next week, the third week in a row of hitting red - hold on, everyone needs to hit the pause button. Access our training - $200K and 300 Leads in 15 Days for Woodpreneurs here: https://go.buildergrowth.io/optin-wms “ It was basically just sitting in front of computers doing some concepts for Chinese companies, which usually we're going just to the bean, and you just do it do it. “ -Filip Winiewicz Welcome to a brand-new episode of the Woodpreneur Podcast. Today, your host Steve Larosiliere is joined by Filip Winiewicz from Romero Hardwood HK Ltd. Living in various countries, including islands, Beijing, and Malaysia, Filip eventually landed in Hong Kong, where he got married to his Korean wife. Dissatisfied with the architectural work in Hong Kong, which he found lacking in the creative and hands-on aspects, Filip sought an alternative. Intrigued by woodworking as a smaller scale of architecture, he saw it as an opportunity to have more control over his ideas and faster results. Without any formal training, he relied on YouTube to acquire woodworking skills. Starting a woodworking venture in Hong Kong presented challenges, considering the exorbitant rent and tough market competition from China, the world's largest furniture manufacturing country, located just across the border. Listen now and get the whole story! “ My knowledge was like, mainly YouTube. And, and probably Hong Kong is the worst place to start woodworking but yeah, and it's hard to Okay, now we can call it business, but I just decided to do something I want to do.” - Filip Winiewicz Evolution of Projects: Starting with live-edge slab tables, Filip's business evolved from competing with China on slab tables to specializing in custom, high-end furniture for residential projects. He emphasizes the challenging nature of these projects, often involving intricate details and solid wood. Clients opt for Filip's craftsmanship, trusting his expertise over mass-produced alternatives from China. Steve: "Your work is truly remarkable, Filip. How did you navigate the initial stages of your business and establish your presence in such a competitive market?" Building Presence and Overcoming Challenges: Filip shares his early strategy of leveraging Instagram for marketing. Recognizing the rarity and appeal of wood products in Hong Kong, he strategically built a significant Instagram following by targeting potential customers interested in unique, high-quality furniture. This, coupled with a smart pricing approach, allowed him to gain a foothold in the market. Filip also emphasizes the challenges he faces, particularly in sourcing wood from China, where quality control is limited. The discrepancies in wood quality and the constraints of Hong Kong's small workshop spaces pose ongoing challenges. Steve: "It's fascinating to hear about your journey, Filip. As you've grown, what are the key tools and investments that have played a crucial role in your woodworking business?" Key Tools and Investments: While Filip's workshop may seem basic compared to American standards, he highlights essential tools like the Felder combination jointer and planer thicknesser as his significant investments. Acquiring a secondhand CNC machine at a bargain further expanded the business's capabilities, allowing for more intricate projects. Want to get in touch with Jesus Romero? In this MEGAphone episode we will be shouting out Stanford professor of neuroscience Andrew Huberman. We all have trillions of microorganisms living inside our gut—not just our stomach but our intestines and throat and mouth, and on our skin, in our eyes and nasal passages. There are living things, living on us… in ALMOST every imaginable place ON.. and IN our bodies. This is basically prayer, but by not calling it prayer we can help kids get to the heart of it, instead of what they think prayer is supposed to be or what they are supposed to do. Parenting for Faith also has some really beautiful and practical ways to teach kids to hear from God. Your Turn to Play: Practice having your kids chat with God, by offering topics that they then silently tell God or whisper in a pillow. The road to healing a marriage can feel hopeless and overwhelming, so I brought on a couple, John and Ann, who went from separation and almost divorcing twice to now feeling more connected and secure together than ever. They share their struggles of trying to overcome the impact of a pornography addiction, what specific things helped them the most, how they could grow closer together in their marriage, and the most effective thing that he did to help her with her triggers. Instead of getting stuck in old cycles of defensiveness, frustration, and avoidance, they now can have conversations together, work through triggers and pain, and know exactly how to reconnect whenever something comes up.
