Secretary of Health & Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is, to put it mildly, a skeptic of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) medication, a form of meds that millions of Americans use regularly with tremendous benefit. He was once on SSRIs, went off them, then became addicted to heroin, and he believes these events are linked. He also believes they cause school shootings and cause harm to developing fetuses. There is no evidence to support this. Andrea Salinas, a Democrat who represents the 6th district in Oregon in the House of Representatives, joins us to unpack Kennedy's latest efforts to curtail SSRI use and availability and what her minority party is doing to answer the threat. Then we're joined by journalist Jason Gale, author of the book After Covid: The Health Impacts That Will Last Generations, for an update on the long-term mental health effects of the pandemic's trauma and of long covid. Did Michigan's Cheating Scandal Enable Texas Tech's Gambling Defiance? | Buckeye Weekly PodcastOn the Buckeye Weekly Podcast, Tony Gerdeman and Tom Orr discuss a listener question arguing that the NCAA's handling of Michigan's Connor Stalions cheating scandal emboldened Texas Tech's defiant response to quarterback Brennan Sorsby's gambling-related rules violation. They compare the schools' approaches, noting Michigan threatened legal action but never went to court, while Texas Tech obtained a Texas judge's injunction blocking the NCAA's suspension attempt and released a 22-minute video defending its position. They argue the NCAA has punished or tried to punish wrongdoing (including fines and individual penalties), but courts and conferences like the Big 12 may shape outcomes, and they explore how conference or College Football Playoff decisions could affect Texas Tech if the situation continues.00:00 Welcome and Setup00:45 Listener Question01:25 Michigan vs Texas Tech02:37 NCAA Teeth and Courts04:00 Shameless PR Defense08:18 Mental Health vs Eligibility09:34 Judge Ruling and Big 1212:05 CFP Fallout Scenarios14:07 Wrap Up and Callouts
In this episode, Dr. K breaks down the misunderstood art of "holding space," explaining why our natural urge to solve problems or validate feelings is often a defense mechanism against our own discomfort. He reveals how to transition from being a "fixer" to becoming a resilient container for others' emotions through the practice of intentional inaction. What to expect in this episode: The Problem-Solver Trap: Why our first instinct to offer solutions is often a selfish act designed to shut off the negative emotions we are absorbing from others. The Emotional Umbilical Cord: A look at the biological reality of empathy and how we absorb the "negativity" of those around us, similar to how we feel for fictional characters on a screen. When Therapy-Speak Fails: Why "validating feelings" can feel infuriating or dismissive to a loved one, especially when it is used to "poke holes" in their valid anger. Intentional Inaction: Understanding that holding space is not "doing nothing," but rather a purposeful choice to not act while remaining physically and facially engaged. The "Holding the Bag" Metaphor: A practical visualization for supporting someone by letting them lead the interaction and put whatever they need into the "space" you provide. The Boredom Indicator: How to recognize when a "trauma dump" has lost its emotional energy by monitoring your own internal state for signs of boredom or repetition. Creating a "Police Line": How to maintain a boundary that allows the other person the autonomy to decide their own next steps rather than solving the situation for them. Have you ever walked into a room and completely forgotten why you were there? Do you constantly find yourself trying to remember where you put your keys? Since Brian's unexpected passing in January, Adrienne has found herself forgetting appointments, losing her train of thought mid-sentence, rereading emails multiple times, and wondering if something was actually wrong with her. As it turns out, she's not alone. In this episode, Adrienne explores the very real experience often called widow brain or grief brain—the memory lapses, brain fog, difficulty concentrating, and decision fatigue that so many people experience after a major loss. She shares her own struggles navigating grief, probate, finances, parenting, and everyday life while trying to function with what sometimes feels like 97 browser tabs open at once.Along the way, she explores cognitive overload and what has helped her cope. Learning that forgetting things may not be a sign that you're failing—it may be a sign that your brain is working overtime to adapt to a life you never expected. If you've ever wondered why grief makes even simple tasks feel harder, this conversation is for you.Because sometimes healing looks a lot less like moving on and a lot more like walking back into the room to remember why you went there in the first place.Send us Fan MailFor those who have reached out asking how to support Adrienne and her family during this time, click here to donate. In this solo episode, I'm diving into one of the most pervasive and underappreciated cognitive patterns I see across ROGD families: black-and-white thinking. It's the tendency to categorize everything in terms of two mutually exclusive extremes — all or nothing, perfect or ruined, success or failure — with no middle ground.I explain how this pattern is a normal feature of adolescent brain development, but becomes significantly amplified in kids with ADHD, autism, OCD, or anxiety — conditions that are highly comorbid with gender identity distress. I walk through real-world examples of how this thinking shows up in everyday family life, from refusing to go on a trip because homework isn't finished, to concluding that body discomfort during puberty means something is fundamentally wrong and must be medically corrected.I also explore how excessive screen use creates a vicious feedback cycle that stunts emotional intelligence and body awareness, leaving teenagers even more stuck in binary thinking. From there, I offer practical tools for parents: thinking out loud to model nuanced reasoning, scaffolding executive functioning through backward planning, and using "parts language" to help teens recognize and hold contradictory feelings simultaneously. I close by connecting all of it back to the gender question — because the same cognitive skill that helps a teen tolerate ambiguity in one area is the skill that can eventually let them hold space for uncertainty about their own identity. This solo episode doubles as a bonus lesson in ROGD Repair. Where this lesson is found in the course, it comes with a companion article, summary, and questions for reflection to help you personalize the material. “Take in your final breath before your first new one.” Those were the words Jillian heard before her double lung transplant—words that would mark the end of one life chapter and the beginning of another. Jillian is 34 years old, living with cystic fibrosis, and a double lung transplant recipient. Her story is one of resilience, loss, hope, and purpose. From being diagnosed at birth to navigating adulthood, Jillian has faced more than most, but she continues to show up for her life and for others in the cystic fibrosis community. Jillian shares what it was like growing up with CF, supported by family and shaped by early connections within the community. She reflects on how advocates like Emily Schaller and the Rock CF Foundation influenced her outlook and helped her feel less alone. We also talk about her college years, what it meant to pursue independence while managing a complex disease, and how life shifted as her health declined into end-stage lung failure. Jillian walks us through the transplant process, not just medically, but emotionally—the fear, the uncertainty, and the strength it takes to keep going. One of the most profound parts of Jillian's story is the loss of her twin brother. She opens up about that grief and how it continues to shape her perspective, her resilience, and her compassion for others. Throughout it all, Jillian emphasizes the importance of support systems and mental health—especially during the transplant journey. No one goes through something like this alone, and her story is a reminder of how critical connection and care truly are. Today, Jillian looks toward the future with hope. She shares her dreams of building a family, continuing her advocacy work, and expanding the impact of the nonprofit she founded, Jillian's Jay Walkers Organization. Her story is not just about survival—it's about living with intention, honoring loss, and creating something meaningful from it all.

A licensed mental health therapist, founder of Willow Tree Counseling & Educational Center, and creator of the FELT Experience and Marsha Listens wellness platform. The conversation centers on emotional health, nervous system education, sound therapy, community healing, and her evolution as a therapist and entrepreneur. Marsha shares her personal journey from being a competitive athlete to becoming a calming force for high‑functioning individuals dealing with burnout, stress, and emotional disconnection. She explains the origins of her signature FELT Experience, a wellness model designed to help people reconnect with themselves through somatic movement, sound healing, intentional rest, and community. She also highlights the challenges and breakthroughs in mental health—particularly within the Black community—and reflects on 16+ years of therapeutic practice. Purpose of the Interview The interview aims to: 1. Introduce Marsha Evans’ holistic mental health approach Rushion invites Marsha to explain how she blends psychology, somatics, and sound‑based healing to help people process stress differently. 2. Explain the FELT Experience and its healing framework Marsha details her signature F.E.L.T. model—Free, Expand, Listen, Transform—and why embodied emotional experience is key to healing. 3. Share her personal journey She discusses how sports, music, and modalities like breathwork and yoga helped her turn stress into purpose. 4. Encourage new perspectives on mental health in the Black community She and Rushion address the stigma, evolution, and growing acceptance of mental health support. 5. Showcase community‑centered healing Marsha emphasizes connection, shared experiences, and intentional spaces that allow vulnerability and transformation. Key Takeaways 1. Healing Requires Intentionality Marsha explains that activities like massage or yoga can be therapeutic—but only when approached with intentionality, presence, and consent to release emotional tension. 2. The Body Holds Stories (“The body keeps the score”) She emphasizes that the body stores emotional experiences, and modalities like breathwork, sound healing, and somatic movement help release what the mind can’t articulate. 3. The FELT Framework The FELT Experience moves participants through: F – Free: Permission to just be (coloring, resting, arriving without expectations) E – Expand: Allowing the body to open and receive L – Listen: To one’s own body, movement, and emotional cues T – Transform: The hardest phase—moving from chaos to peace 4. Safe Community Spaces Accelerate Healing Marsha’s events often result in participants forming friendships, emotional breakthroughs, and even planning outings together—an indicator of her program’s power. 5. People Are Conditioned to Avoid Emotions Growing up, she was taught to hide emotions in competitive sports—especially tears as a sign of weakness. Her therapeutic mission now is to help others unlearn similar conditioning. 6. Cultural Shifts Around Mental Health Marsha highlights major strides in the Black community, especially post‑COVID, as more people (including athletes) publicly acknowledge mental health struggles. 7. Hi my loves
Listen and subscribe to Money Making Conversations on iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, www.moneymakingconversations.com/subscribe/ or wherever you listen to podcasts. New Money Making Conversations episodes drop daily. I want to alert you, so you don’t miss out on expert analysis and insider perspectives from my guests who provide tips that can help you uplift the community, improve your financial planning, motivation, or advice on how to be a successful entrepreneur. Keep winning! Two-time Emmy and Three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald interviewed Marsha Evans. 7. Therapy Isn’t Just Talking She incorporates nonverbal tools like: Play therapy Sand tray therapy Sound healing Somatic movement YogaThese help clients who can’t articulate their emotions—especially those conditioned to suppress them. 8. Human Connection Still Matters—even in an AI World Marsha is open to exploring AI in mental health but insists that physical presence, touch, and human empathy are irreplaceable. "When are you getting married?" It's the question Georgie Tunny and Rob Mills get asked more than any other. Closely followed by: "What about babies?" After seven years together and four years engaged, the couple sit down with Kate Langbroek to talk about the future they're building together, why they're in no rush to follow anyone else's timeline, and the DM that started it all. From Georgie leaving Rob on read for months to the first coffee date that changed everything, this conversation is full of the stories you've probably never heard before. They talk about ambition, career setbacks, long engagements, mental health, life in the spotlight, Georgie's debut novel Over To You, Rob's dream role in Waitress, and why the Paris Hilton chapter of his life is one they're both quite happy to laugh about now. Mostly, though, this feels less like an interview and more like sitting at a table with three friends catching up on all the gossip. Georgie Tunny's debut novel, Over To You is available now. See Rob in Waitress, now playing in Melbourne and heading to Sydney in August. I thought meditation would fix me. Instead, I put my phone on silent for six years. Here's the truth: I am not the girl who lights a candle, sits cross-legged on a linen cushion and meditates her way to inner peace. I've tried. Instead, I spent years wondering why every wellness routine on the internet seemed to work for everyone except me. The good news? Nothing was wrong with me. My nervous system was just overloaded. In this episode, I'm sharing the weird, unglamorous things I actually do to calm an anxious, overstimulated, ADHD brain. No bubble baths. No 5am ice baths. No pretending to enjoy meditation. Just seven simple things that genuinely help me feel calmer, less overwhelmed and more like a functioning human. Because weird works if it makes you well. This podcast is for you if: You've muted a group chat and felt immediate relief You've sat in the driveway because you physically couldn't go inside yet The sound of everyone needing something from you makes you want to hide in a cupboard You've tried meditation and spent the whole time mentally reorganising your life What you'll learn: Why traditional self-care doesn't work for everyone• How notifications keep your nervous system stuck in stress mode• Simple ways to reduce overstimulation throughout your day• Why movement can be more effective than meditation for some people• The science behind expressive writing, behavioural activation and transition rituals• Practical mental health tools you can actually use when life feels overwhelming Here's what I break down in this episode: Why We're All So Fried Phone On Silent For Six Years Batching Your Replies Noise-Cancelling Headphones The Two-Minute Car Sit Move, Don't Sit Feelings On Paper Before People Clean One Thing The Permission Slip ... Stell dir vor, dein Zukunfts-Ich schickt dir heute eine Sprachnachricht. Was würde es dir sagen? Würde es dich beruhigen? Dich liebevoll auslachen? Sondern besser! Eure Jana & Bato

In this episode, Dr. K explores the "alchemy of hate," breaking down how negative energy can be repurposed as a tool for growth and why the most successful people are often the most targeted. He delves into the neurobiology of the gifted mind, the hidden costs of a high IQ, and provides a clinical breakdown of common ADHD symptoms—from time blindness to the "freeze" response triggered by high-stakes pressure. What to expect in this episode: Hate vs. Anger: Understanding that while anger is a general emotion, hate is a personal relationship based on identification and ego that requires a "me" and a "you". The Success Trigger: Why people often hate you not because they think you will fail, but because they are afraid you will succeed, which mirrors their own unfulfilled potential. The High IQ Burden: An analysis of why high intelligence is a risk factor for anxiety, as a powerful mind can predict 100 problems while a human only has the capacity to solve 10. The EQ Buffer: How emotional intelligence can compensate for lower cognitive scores in professional settings and why it is essential for high IQ individuals to manage their "undisciplined" minds. The ADHD "Lockdown": Why high stakes, which motivate neurotypical people, often cause individuals with ADHD to freeze or "lock down" due to emotional dysregulation. The Right-Brain Bridge: Why articulating emotions into words is a neurological necessity to stop suppressed feelings from subconsciously sabotaging your logical calculations. Time Blindness Mechanics: A look at how ADHD impairs the internal biological clock, preventing the brain from gathering accurate data on how long tasks actually take. The "Left-Handed Path": A comparison between the Sith/Jedi dynamic and the Tantric disciplines of devotion versus engaging with "darker" forces for the accumulation of energy. Impulsivity and Follow-Through: Why the secret to finishing a project is often learning not to start based on a temporary impulse, as the same brain circuit handles both. The Alchemist's Perspective: Reframing hate and roadblocks as a "spiritual handicap" provided by the universe to help you "level up" and reveal your true power. June is Mental Health Month, and in this episode, I want you to hear something clearly. Your mental and emotional health is not a side note to breast cancer or to life after it. It deserves to be a priority, right alongside your physical health. I share a recent stretch of unrelenting pain that pulled me away from my walks and workouts, and how quickly that started to weigh on me mentally, because I want you to know you are not alone in that heaviness. We look at what the research actually shows about how long anxiety and depression can linger after a diagnosis, why isolation makes it harder, and how support changes everything. I also talk honestly about both lifestyle and medication. Nourishing your body and moving it genuinely support your brain, but they do not replace medical care, and reaching for medication when you need it is an act of love, not a failure. I close with a simple reframe. When "what is wrong with me" shows up, try asking "what do I need right now?" instead. You deserve support, friend.
