In this episode, I sit down with my friend Samantha Skelly for a deeply honest conversation about identity, presence, and what it really means to lead from your highest self. We talk about releasing performative success, why boredom in business can actually be a sign of regulation and alignment, and how creative play outside of your work can unlock your next level of clarity and fulfillment. I share my philosophy on identity-based messaging, why serving a former version of yourself can cap your growth, and how speaking to the highest version of your client creates cleaner energy, stronger resonance, and more aligned opportunities. We also explore embodiment, aspiration-based messaging, and the simple but powerful practice I return to daily: be her now. This episode is for the woman who feels herself evolving, who's ready to stop shrinking or over-explaining, and who wants her business, message, and life to finally feel as aligned as the woman she's becoming. On the 5th Nightmare Before Christmas... In the summer of 2005, a North Carolina couple slipped away to their Oak Island beach house for a quiet weekend—only to find a stranger renovating their living room. Power tools hummed, drywall dust floated in the air, and the man in work boots calmly insisted the property was his. He even produced a deed, complete with signatures and a tidy paper trail. According to the stranger, he had bought the home from a North Carolina doctor, Dr. William Holbert, for the unbelievable price of $200,000, barely half its value. Holbert, he claimed, was liquidating his sick grandmother's home in a hurry. But the story cracked quickly. Holbert and his partner, Laura Reese, had already vanished, and the cash from the fraudulent sale had funded their next home in Louisa, Kentucky. By the time investigators arrived, the couple was gone without a trace. It was far from over because wherever Holbert went next, terror followed—and the bodies stacked quietly behind him. Join Cam and Jen on this episode of Our True Crime Podcast entitled "The Killer Wore Flip-Flops: Wild Bill Holbert: Day 5:12 Nightmares Before Christmas". In this episode of "Women of Impact," Lisa Bilyeu welcomes Dr. Orion Taraban, psychologist, YouTube creator, and author of the bestselling book "The Value of Others." Dr. Taraban brings a refreshingly candid — and sometimes controversial — perspective to the complex world of romantic relationships, power dynamics, and emotional safety. Together, they pull back the curtain on common traps women fall into, how to recognize manipulation (especially from narcissists or cluster B personalities), and the essential mindsets needed to reclaim your relationship power once and for all. Dr. Taraban and Lisa set the groundwork by tackling why no one can technically manipulate your emotions — unless you allow them to. This is essential listening for anyone looking to understand how to protect themselves while dating—or simply elevate their personal relationships to a new level of autonomy. Most people know Ciara as a Grammy winning superstar with 23 million albums sold and hits like “Goodies” and “Level Up.” What they don't know is how a military kid with no connections built one of the most durable careers in entertainment and is now quietly building a business empire across rum and kids fashion. In this conversation, Ciara walks through the three goals she wrote down at 13 that led to a record deal at 16, millions of albums sold by 19, and a 21 year career that's still evolving. She talks about why it's necessary to stay “a little delulu”, how manifestation actually works, and how a good whiteboard session can turn an idea into a real-world business. We get into why being the only woman in rum is fuel not fear, how her apparel company 3Brand crossed $100M, and why culture and quality beat hype every time. This episode isn't about overnight wins. It's about confidence built slowly, emotions kept out of decisions, and learning to run your race without burning out trying to win someone else's. ___________ 00:00:00 Introduction 00:01:25 The Power of Pre-Performance Rituals 00:04:03 Embracing Failure and the Amnesia Method 00:06:21 Being Delulu: Walking Into Rooms Fearlessly 00:09:18 Speaking Life Into Your Kids 00:10:27 The Army Kid Who Wrote Her Game Plan at 13 00:16:34 Manifestation: Writing It Down and Speaking It Out Loud 00:22:03 Faith as Your Shield in Dark Moments 00:25:56 Running Your Own Race: Don't Glorify Man 00:28:29 The Greater the Great, The More They Hate 00:30:19 Whiteboard Sessions with Your Partner 00:45:07 Building a 100 Million Dollar Brand: 3Brand Story 00:37:34 Ten To One Rum: Reimagining a Spirit Category 00:47:42 Quality Over Everything: The Business Superpower 00:50:48 Trust Your Gut: Knowing Who Not to Trust on Day One 00:58:34 Following Your Curiosity Down the Rabbit Hole 01:11:14 Beauty Marks and Attainment: Scars Are Your Story ___________ MORE FROM BIGDEAL

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, everybody! Scott Carson here, and today's episode of The Note Closures Show dives deep into a story that's all too familiar in today's market: a real estate deal gone sideways. If you or someone you know is struggling with properties caught in a changing market, plummeting values, or non-performing notes, this is a must-listen. I'll walk you through a recent, real-life situation where "karma" brought an IRA investor and a fix-and-flipper to my doorstep, looking for a way out of a financial quagmire. We're talking about a "shit sandwich" situation, and I'll share how a proactive, empathetic approach can turn it into something much more palatable. In this eye-opening episode, you'll discover:A Real-Life Distressed Deal: Unpack the details of a Plano, Texas property financed by three IRA investors to a fix-and-flipper. With a $280,000 purchase and an estimated $150,000-$170,000 rehab, the flipper walked with $50,000 up front, only for the deal to unravel. The Market Shift Strikes: Learn how rapidly changing market conditions, especially over the last six months in Texas and beyond, caused property values to drop significantly, leaving a gutted, unlivable property with a non-performing note and silent borrower. The note balance stood at $396,000, far exceeding the current market value and potential rehab costs.Scott Carson: The Unlikely Mediator: Hear how a chance encounter (or "karma") linked Scott to both the investor (Harry) and the fix-and-flipper, whom he recognized from past events. Scott steps in as a third-party neutral to facilitate communication and find a pragmatic solution, saving both parties from further, costly pain. The Power of Deed-in-Lieu & Friendly Foreclosure: Explore why a Deed-in-Lieu of Foreclosure or a "friendly foreclosure" where the borrower deeds the property back can be a win-win. This strategy avoids prolonged, expensive legal battles, protects the borrower's record, and allows the lender to regain control of the asset quickly, even if it means accepting less than the full amount owed.Turning Lemons into Lemonade (or a "Shit Sandwich" into Something Tastier): Understand the empathetic approach to these tough situations. Scott emphasizes that bad things happen to good people and that sometimes the best solution is to cut losses, regain control of the asset, and market it strategically (e.g., with pre-approved hard money financing) to recover as much as possible, moving forward instead of being dragged down. This episode is a testament to the fact that even in the toughest real estate scenarios, solutions exist. By prioritizing communication, empathy, and smart legal strategies like Deed-in-Lieu, you can navigate market downturns and distressed assets more effectively. Don't let bad deals linger and drain your resources. If you're facing a similar "shit sandwich" situation with a fix-and-flip gone wrong or a non-performing note, please reach out. I'm here to help, act as that third-party mediator, and leverage my experience to find a solution that works for everyone involved.Watch the Original VIDEO HERE!Book a Call With Scott HERE!Sign up for the next FREE One-Day Note Class HERE!Sign up for the WCN Membership HERE!Sign up for the next Note Buying For Dummies Workshop HERE!Love the show? And it's an immediate… There are so many people for me where it's an immediate ‘no,' because the moment I hear the sound quality and it's not totally up to a pro level, I assume tons of things about that.” – Wil Seabrook This episode's guest is a former Warner Bros recording artist and the founder of two award-winning creative agencies, and he's produced over 8,000 videos and commercials for some of the world's biggest and most successful companies. His name is Wil Seabrook, and this week we'll be talking about how sound design affects his creative process, what people should keep in mind about sound when it comes to their own projects, and what role he sees AI playing in the short and long term when it comes to sounds of all sorts. If you work in sound and you're struggling to find your place in the modern marketplace? You'll definitely want to listen in on this conversation. (0:00:01) - Musicians' Early Sound Influences and JourneysAs our conversation starts, Wil recall his earliest memories of sound, and the impression that hearing a Simon & Garfunkel song made on both him and his parents. “I came home from preschool,” he recalls, “and I was talking to my mother, and I kept saying Funkle, Funkle. She's like, ‘what the heck are you talking about? You want a pencil?' And she finally figured out that I wanted to listen to Simon & Garfunkel.” He talks about his early career as a musician, some of his missteps along the way and how he's helped his son avoid them, and how social media has transformed the music scene. “I think the rise of social media,” he says, “the way things have changed in the last ten, fifteen years, you just realize what an incredible amount of talent there is in the world… now you can just sit down with your phone and a guitar and make a beautiful noise and inspire people, and I do think that part's neat.”(0:08:57) - The Power of Music in CommunicationThe discussion continues as Wil talks about his shift from working with Fortune 500 companies to helping small businesses establish their brand, and the different approach it requires. “It's a much more emotional journey,” he explains. “But I get to be more helpful with more things. I'm not just creating content, I'm helping them put it out into the world, improve their business, and I find that fun and engaging.” He also offers some firsthand advice to voice actors who might find themselves frustrated with the auditioning process. “Don't automatically assume that you did something wrong,” he tells us, “or that you've made a mistake, or that you're not talented, or that you're not doing everything right. You could do everything right and still not be the person who gets...

Books are everywhere. They're so common, they're easy to take for granted. But my guest argues that they're worth fully appreciating — because the book isn't just a container for content; it's a revolutionary technology for shaping culture and thought.Joel Miller is a former publishing executive, an editor, a book reviewer, and the author of The Idea Machine: How Books Built Our World and Shape Our Future. Today on the show, Joel argues that to appreciate the power of the book, you have to look at its design: how it's constructed, how we interact with it, and how its evolution transformed the way we think, learn, and communicate. He walks us through a fascinating history of the book as a physical object, from Augustine reading under a fig tree, to medieval monks introducing word spacing and punctuation, to the printing press's world-altering explosion of information. We also explore how novels changed our emotional and social intelligence, how silent reading birthed individual interpretation, and why, even in an age of video and AI, books still matter.Resources Related to the PodcastAoM book-related archivesDying Breed Article: Why I Hate Making (and Watching) Online VideosAoM Article: Why Men Should Read More FictionAoM Article: Fiction for Men as Suggested by Art of Manliness ReadersAoM Podcast #1,057: The Power of the Notebook — The History and Practice of Thinking on PaperConnect With Joel MillerMiller's Book ReviewSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The surprisingly simple question that gets teenage girls to open up after years of shutting everyone out—and why the adults in their lives have been approaching these conversations completely backwards (hint: it's the same reason your last "how was school today?" got a one-word answer). Why teenage girls can spot your hidden agenda from a mile away, and the radical honesty approach that creates trust faster than any parenting book you've read—even when you think you're being subtle with your "protective" white lies. The age that girls start dieting that will make you rethink every compliment you've ever given a child—and the unconscious behavior women are modeling that's sabotaging the next generation's relationship with their bodies before they even hit puberty. That thing you keep saying is "fine" when it's absolutely not fine, and how the people-pleasing patterns you picked up as a teenage girl are still running your sex life, your relationships, and every dinner party you've ever thrown. The connection between your relationship to sex and your actual power that nobody talks about—and why embracing your "weird" might be the permission slip you need to stop performing and start feeling. Plus: why giving girls agency doesn't mean abandoning your role as a parent, and the one body-related comment you should never make to a teenage girl, even when you think you're being helpful. Are we sleepwalking into the biggest technological revolution in human history? In this explosive episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, Mustafa Suleyman — CEO of Microsoft AI & author of The Coming Wave — breaks down what it really means to live in a world undergoing a massive reckoning with Artificial Intelligence. Whether you love it, hate it, or don't even realize you're already using it, AI is quietly reshaping everything we know about medicine, government, finance, energy, and even human relationships. Mustafa pulls back the curtain on the true risks of AI, the benefits that may outweigh them, and the unsettling truth about how fast this technology is evolving...much faster than anyone predicted. He reveals the single most significant global use-case of AI today (and why it's a direct challenge to human evolution), the surprising reason AI therapy and companionship are exploding worldwide, and what we're unintentionally outsourcing to machines that may isolate us from real human connection. We dive into: - The waves of AI evolution and what comes next - The coming disruption to the economy and the job market - How to prepare (and parent) in a world powered by AI - Why AI's similarity to the human brain's neural networks is both fascinating and terrifying - The urgent need for guardrails and safeguards before bad actors use AI to manipulate individuals and entire societies - Mind-blowing breakthroughs AI could unlock in human potential - Why Mustafa believes AI will never develop its own awareness or agenda - And the controversial question: Will it take a catastrophic AI event to force governments and agencies to finally work together? This is not just a conversation about technology, it's a conversation about humanity's future, the choices we're making right now, and the consequences of ignoring the wave that's already here. This week on Hurdle, Emily is joined by Elyse Kopecky—three-time New York Times best-selling author, educator, and co-author of the Run Fast, Eat Slow cookbook series with Olympian Shalane Flanagan—for a conversation that dives deep into the power of real food and the journey of turning personal struggle into a successful, mission-driven career. Elyse opens up about her intense personal history with a low-fat diet mentality as a young athlete, which led to severe health complications like athletic amenorrhea, low bone density, and stress fractures. She shares the pivotal moment in her 30s—while living abroad—when she realized that simply introducing healthy fats like butter and high-quality dairy allowed her body to heal and regulate naturally. We discuss the key to her philosophy: Indulgent Nourishment, which promotes celebrating whole, delicious food as the true opposite of deprivation. Elyse shares why focusing on real food, rather than counting macros or calories, is the best path to a healthier life. We also dive into the non-negotiable role healthy fats play in hormonal and brain health, how to spot misleading packaging on food labels, and the truth about high-protein fads and refined white flour. She also talks about the full-circle journey of leaving a successful corporate career at Nike to go to culinary school, and ultimately launching her own company. Let’s just like stop even thinking that.” On the longevity of her message: "I think that's why our books continue to sell well is because the nutrition messaging is still upholding 10 years later." “You’ll have a horrible stomach ache if you eat when you’re super stressed.” On her pivot: "I think if I had known what I know now about the world of grocery and retail and how complex it is, I probably never would have started the company. But I think it's always been my thing like I jump into it." On the surprising benefit of her injury struggles: “Sometimes those lowest points of your life ... will teach you the biggest lessons. So your low points or your failures can become your greatest success in life.” IN THIS EPISODE Pivoting to CPG: The decision to launch the direct-to-consumer Superhero Muffins baking mix. Most people are sitting on a wealth-building asset they use every single day…but they've never learned how to activate it. That asset is your mouth. Your words—used the right way—can actually create wealth. And no, I'm not talking about manifesting, visualizing, or trying to “speak money into existence.” What I'm talking about is far more practical and far more powerful: the specific kinds of words you put out into the world determine the opportunities and income that come back to you. Right now I'm going to show you the three types of words that create wealth—and how to start using them today. You don't need another breakthrough. You don't need another awakening. You don't need another insight. And you definitely don't need another method that works for three weeks and then collapses. What you may need is an integrated operating system. In this episode of Fire and Soul, I sit down with my dear friend and Transformational Leader Pavel Aeon for a grounded, uncompromising conversation about what happens after awakening, when growth outpaces the body, the nervous system, and the life structures meant to hold it.For the first time publicly, Pavel shares System Upgrade, and it is a genuine honor for me to be the place where this conversation is happening. Wake up. Clean up. Power up. Rest up. We explore why so many people cycle between expansion and exhaustion, how breath functions as a direct regulatory tool rather than a performance practice, and the quiet grief that often comes with outgrowing relationships, identities, and old ways of living. This conversation is not about becoming more spiritual. It's about becoming more capable of living what's already true.If you've felt the next chapter approaching and you're done paying for growth with your nervous system, this episode is for you.YOU'LL LEARN• Why repeated burnout is often a capacity issue rather than a personal failure• The four phases that determine whether transformation stabilizes or destabilizes• How breath supports regulation instead of performance• What happens when awakening outpaces the nervous system• Why relationships often change during periods of expansion• What Earth 2.0 actually means in everyday life• Who System Upgrade is designed for and why nowIf this conversation resonates, do not rush past that signal.System Upgrade is a yearlong global journey designed to support integration rather than peak experiences. Hey loves! If your marriage feels heavy, transactional, or nothing like what you imagined when you said “I do,” this conversation is going to feel like a deep exhale. We're talking about how so many of us accidentally sign up for a version of marriage we never consciously agreed to — one built on assumptions, roles, resentment, and unspoken expectations. And the good news? You don't have to burn it all down to feel free again. You can renegotiate the contract. We walk through three powerful tools that can completely change the emotional climate of your relationship: the 6-second kiss, the Power of One, and creating a brand-new marriage contract that actually fits who you are now, not who you were when you first got together. This isn't about fixing your partner. It's about reclaiming your agency, your desire, and your sense of choice — inside your relationship and inside yourself. In this episode, we cover:- Why so many marriages drift into resentment without anyone “doing anything wrong”- How the 6-second kiss rewires connection, safety, and intimacy (and why it works even when things feel awkward)- The Power of One: how changing your energy shifts the entire dynamic- What it really means to stop waiting for your partner to change- How to consciously rewrite your marriage contract — expectations, roles, intimacy, and emotional labor- Why freedom inside marriage comes from choice, not control- How this work directly impacts your nervous system, emotional eating patterns, and overall well-beingIf you've been feeling disconnected, stuck, or quietly wondering if this is “just how it is now,” let this be your permission slip to do marriage differently — without ultimatums, threats, or self-abandonment.And if this conversation lights something up in you and you're ready to take this work deeper — with your relationship, your body, and your life — come hang out with me inside my programs. How should Christian faith shape work in an era of pluralism, fear, and systemic inequality? Sociologist Elaine Howard Ecklund (Rice University) is presenting new insights for faith at work through data, theology, and lived experience. "People love to talk about individual ethics … but what was really hard for them to think about was, what would it mean to make our workplace better as a whole?" In this episode, Ecklund joins Mark Labberton to reflect on moving from individual morality toward systemic responsibility, dignity, and other-centred Christian witness at work. Together they discuss faith and work, the gender and race gaps created by systemic injustice, fear and power, religious diversity, rest and human limits, gender and racial marginalization, and the cost of a credible Christian witness. Episode Highlights "People love to talk about individual ethics." "What would it mean to make our workplace better as a whole?" "People are much more apt to take us seriously if we first take them seriously." "Suppression of faith in particular is not the answer." "God is God and I am not." The Power of Peer-to-Peer Advisory Groups: How Jerry Brazie Helps Entrepreneurs Avoid Costly MistakesIn this episode, host Josh Elledge interviews Jerry Brazie, founder of The Kronos Group, to explore why entrepreneurship doesn't have to be a lonely journey. Jerry shares how peer-to-peer advisory groups provide business owners with trusted insight, accountability, and real-world problem-solving that goes far beyond motivation or surface-level advice. Drawing from decades of experience building and advising companies, Jerry explains why consistent peer engagement can be the difference between costly mistakes and sustained growth. Why Peer-to-Peer Advisory Groups Create Stronger, Smarter LeadersJerry Brazie compares entrepreneurship to mastering a skill like pool—progress doesn't come from occasional participation, but from consistent, focused practice. In business, that consistency shows up through regularly meeting with peers who understand the pressure of leadership and growth. Advisory groups create an environment where business owners can openly discuss challenges, test ideas, and learn from others who have faced similar decisions, often preventing expensive missteps before they happen.A key distinction Jerry emphasizes is the difference between peer-to-peer advisory groups and traditional mastermind groups. While masterminds often focus on inspiration or high-level ideas, advisory groups are intentionally small and structured to deliver individualized feedback. Each member receives dedicated time to present real problems, receive candid input, and leave with clear next steps—turning discussion into execution rather than motivation without follow-through.Jerry also highlights the personal dimension of advisory groups, noting that leadership challenges rarely stop at the office door. Conversations often extend beyond operations and strategy into personal well-being, relationships, and balance. By addressing both business and life challenges, advisory groups help entrepreneurs make better decisions, stay grounded, and lead more sustainably over the long term.About Jerry BrazieJerry Brazie is the founder of The Kronos Group, a peer-to-peer advisory organization serving business owners with revenues between $1M and $25M. Many retirees today feel squeezed. Rising costs, fixed incomes, and market uncertainty can make the retirement years feel more fragile than expected. Yet for many households, one of their largest assets—their home—often sits unused in their financial plan. For years, reverse mortgages carried a mixed reputation. But significant reforms over the last decade have reshaped the program, making today's options safer, more flexible, and better aligned with thoughtful retirement planning. Today, we are joined by Harlan Accola, National Reverse Mortgage Director with Movement Mortgage, to explore how home equity can play a more intentional role in retirement. Why Home Equity Is Often OverlookedFor many retirees, their home represents their single largest asset. Yet it's frequently absent from retirement conversations. One reason is perception. Outdated assumptions and negative press have long hampered reverse mortgages. Another reason is structural: many financial advisors simply aren't trained—or compensated—to incorporate home equity into retirement planning. As a result, planning conversations often focus on investments, Social Security, pensions, and insurance, while equity is quietly ignored. That oversight can create strain. When too much wealth is locked inside a home, retirees may feel cash-poor even while sitting on significant net worth—especially if they're still making monthly mortgage payments.Much of what people fear about reverse mortgages no longer applies. Major legislative reforms roughly a decade ago addressed earlier concerns and strengthened consumer protections. Today's reverse mortgage programs are federally regulated and far more transparent. In fact, recent industry surveys—including data from J.D. Power—show that more than 90% of reverse mortgage borrowers report being satisfied with their experience. As more people hear positive stories from neighbors and friends, perceptions continue to shift.Key Benefits of Today's Reverse MortgagesThe most immediate benefit for many retirees is simple: eliminating a monthly mortgage payment. I've spoken with retirees who are using a significant portion of their Social Security income just to cover housing costs. Removing that payment can dramatically improve monthly cash flow—even for those who technically “can afford” the payment.Another powerful benefit is preparation. Long-term care remains one of the largest unfunded risks in retirement. For homeowners who have already paid off their house, a reverse mortgage can establish a guaranteed line of credit before it's needed. Think of it as getting an umbrella before it starts raining—access to funds that can be used later if health care needs arise or unexpected expenses surface.A Third Bucket in Retirement PlanningTraditionally, retirees think in terms of two buckets: income and investments. But home equity can function as a third. The early years of retirement are often the most critical. Drawing too quickly from investments doesn't just reduce the balance—it also eliminates years of future growth. By using home equity strategically, retirees may be able to reduce pressure on their investment portfolio, delay Social Security, and extend the longevity of their overall plan.In many cases, this isn't about necessity—it's about stewardship. Rather than leaving a major asset idle or waiting until it must be accessed in distress, home equity can be used intentionally to support stability, flexibility, and peace of mind.Reverse mortgages aren't for everyone, and they should always be evaluated carefully within a broader financial plan. But for those in the later seasons of life—especially homeowners still making payments or struggling to meet monthly expenses—they can be a valuable option. When used wisely, home equity isn't about giving something up. It's about stewarding what God has already entrusted to you, so your resources serve you well throughout retirement. To learn more, visit Movement.com/Faith.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I own a small business with about 10 employees, and I'm looking to set up a 401(k). Yet again, I helped one of my clients have the lightbulb moment that publishing a book isn't about selling copies. The benefit of a book is how it opens doors. The moment your book hits the world, it becomes a beacon, drawing opportunities you might never have considered. Many authors find that beyond book sales, their work leads to speaking engagements, networking breakthroughs, consulting roles, and other unexpected ways to grow their influence. Your book can position you as an expert, a thought leader, and a sought-after voice in your industry—all while building meaningful connections with those you can impact most. But you need to be ready to seize these opportunities. It's why I work with authors to develop strategies for maximizing the impact of their books—so every opportunity is met with intention and purpose. Want to talk more about how your book can open doors? Visit www.BookLaunchBrainstorm.com to schedule a complimentary 30-minute book launch (or relaunch) brainstorming session. Now, let's dive into the milestones reached and lessons learned by our panelists … Michelle Tillis Lederman wrote “The Connector's Advantage: 7 Mindsets to Grow Your Influence and Impact” to help guide you in building powerful, inclusive relationships that accelerate success, open doors, and create lasting impact, no matter your career stage or goals. Carlo Mahfouz wrote “Reality Check: In Pursuit of the Right Questions” to help leaders, innovators, and curious minds master the art of asking the right questions at the right time, unlocking clarity, self-awareness, and strategic insight in the face of change. Please join me in welcoming Carlo and Michelle. In this episode, we discuss the following:
In today's episode, host James Cox sits down with Chicago‑born jazz virtuoso Brian Culbertson – a multi‑instrumentalist, composer, producer, and the man behind the acclaimed album “Day Trip.”From Brian's early days tinkering on piano at eight, picking up trombone in the school band, and discovering the magic of a home studio at twelve, to his modern‑day workflow that blends live horns, synth‑laden beats, and the Output Arcade plug‑in that sparked the track “Sandcastles,” the conversation drifts through:The instrument journey: why piano became his songwriting hub, how drums shaped his groove sense, and the challenge of playing piano passages that push his limits.Music theory & learning: a down‑to‑earth take on why theory is “baby steps” and how a good teacher can make it approachable for anyone.Creative influences: everything from Earth, Wind & Fire and Tower of Power to classical, EDM, Mongolian metal (The Hu) and dark hip‑hop—showing how eclectic listening fuels fresh ideas.Production vs. performance: why the studio feels like home, the painstaking process of polishing a record, and the tricks he uses to translate studio vibes to a live stage. The “Day Trip” story: how nine songs were written in just four days with co‑writer Nicholas Cole, and the emotional contrast between rapid bursts of inspiration and years‑long labors of love.Beyond the music: Brian's passion for wine, the creation of his signature blends, the Napa Valley Jazz Getaway he co‑hosts, and the balance of artistry with entrepreneurship.Get ready for a deep dive into a musician's mindset, a handful of quirky anecdotes (no secret studio rituals—just a shower and a good vibe), and plenty of tips for anyone who dreams of turning a musical spark into a polished record.Press play, lean back, and let the conversation remind you why, when words fall short, music always finds a way to speak.
What if love—not control—was the driving force behind your leadership? In this thought-provoking conversation, Trevor Timbeck invites you to explore leadership through the lens of “loving as a verb.” Co-author of The Power of Love with Steve Chandler, Trevor explains how viewing love as an action, rather than a static feeling, can transform the way you lead, parent, and connect with others. He shares how a simple question—“What would love do?”—can shift your mindset in moments of frustration, helping you respond with awareness and compassion instead of reaction or control. You'll hear Trevor and Meredith discuss what he calls “emotioning,” a way of understanding emotion as a domain of action rather than a feeling to be managed. Through personal stories of parenting and coaching leaders, Trevor reveals how genuine leadership emerges from acceptance and presence, not authority or demand. His insights challenge conventional thinking about power, control, and influence, offering a refreshing and deeply human perspective on what it means to lead with love. You'll discover: Why love is a powerful verb—not just a feelingHow to shift from controlling to allowing in leadershipWhat “emotioning” means and how it shapes your actionsHow asking “What would love do?” can change any situationWhy true leadership begins with awareness and acceptanceCheck out all the episodesLeave a review on Apple PodcastsConnect with Meredith on LinkedInFollow Meredith on TwitterDownload the free ebook Listen Like a Pro

What happens when you love a practice but recognize the harm within its structures? In this raw and revelatory conversation, Harmony sits down with Zoe Ward—long-time Ashtanga practitioner, authorized teacher, and the voice behind @unrulyascetic—to explore what it means to dismantle a tradition from within. Zoe spent years immersed in Mysore, studying with lineage teachers, and fully embodying the discipline that defines Ashtanga yoga. But somewhere along the way, she began to see the cracks: the privilege required to practice this way, the power dynamics that mutate devotion into dogma, the loss of autonomy when teachers dictate who you are and what's good for you. This conversation doesn't shy away from the uncomfortable truths—the hierarchy, the gatekeeping, the ways we've normalized abuse while failing to normalize talking about it. But it also offers something essential: a path forward. Zoe shares how she's rebuilding her relationship with practice, helping others reclaim their agency, and creating space for people to trust themselves again. Whether you're a devoted practitioner, a disillusioned teacher, or someone who's quietly stepped away from the mat, this episode offers permission to question, evolve, and find your own unruly path to freedom. Topics Discussed: • The privilege required to practice traditional Ashtanga yoga • Power dynamics and hierarchy in yoga communities • When devotion becomes dogma and disconnection • Confronting harm and accountability in spiritual communities • Reclaiming autonomy and trusting yourself in practice • Finding the intelligence in the system without rigid adherence • Building community that doesn't gatekeep or sort practitioners Lightworker Alignment Call: https://harmonyslater.as.me/quick-clarity Upcoming events: https://harmonyslater.com/events 21 Day Money Magic Manifestation Challenge: https://community-harmonyslater.com/landing/plans/1542444Use PROMO CODE for additional $20 Savings: MANIFESTATIONMAGIC FREE Manifestation Activation: https://harmonyslater.kit.com/manifestation-activation FIND Harmony: https://harmonyslater.com/ JOIN the Finding Harmony Community: https://community-harmonyslater.com/ Harmony on IG: https://www.instagram.com/harmonyslaterofficial/ Finding Harmony Podcast on IG: https://www.instagram.com/findingharmonypodcast/ FREE 2 min breathwork practice: https://harmonyslater.com/morning-breathwork-optin Find your Spiritual Entrepreneur Archetype!
