"Come to editors with solutions, not with problems. A lot of young freelance writers will be like, 'Hey, hook me up with this editor. Do this and do that.' And I'm like, 'I can connect you, but you better have pitches. If you don't come with the idea you're just a problem,'" says Tony Rehagen, a long-time freelance writer.Seth Wickersham put me in touch with a colleague of his, someone he went to grad school with by the name of Tony Rehagen. Now, he's a special kind of freelancer in that he's a grinder. Much like Pete Croatto and other freelancer types who are balancing all kinds of work: content work, copy writing, alumni magazine work, and pure journalism, Tony has been in the thick of the freelance morass for a long, long time. He was featured in the 2015 anthology “Next Wave” for his piece called The Last Trawlers, a work of journalism that really reads like a short story. His work has appeared in myriad places like Indianapolis Monthly, Atlanta Magazine, Men's Journal, and Bloomberg.Tony was a blast … there are too many great nuggets from this conversation to list out, but I'll list out a few. We talk about: His filing system for stories How many stories he's working at a time Being on the clock and off the clock all the time Treating his writing as a service or a trade like plumbing or carpentry Treating editors more like clients Taking risks with how much skin he puts into a certain story And where his ambitions lie now. And that just scratches the surface.Promotional support: The 2026 Power of Narrative Conference. Use narrative20 at checkout for 20% off your tuition. In this episode of Shoptalk, David Carothers continued his exploration of total cost of risk, focusing on how producers can integrate it into their sales cadence without overhauling existing approaches. He explained that introducing total cost of risk doesn't mean abandoning transactional sales calls but supplementing them with deeper, long-term risk assessments. David emphasized how asking the right discovery questions and sharing stories of past success can demonstrate value and build trust. This episode also touched on a key shift: moving from being just another vendor to becoming a trusted advisor who proactively identifies risks and delivers solutions. Key points: Total Cost of Risk and Sales Cadence David stresses that integrating total cost of risk into your sales process doesn't mean overhauling everything. It means supplementing your cadence with conversations that consider the full scope of risk, allowing you to prospect year-round instead of focusing only on renewal periods. It's okay to make transactional calls, but be ready to pivot into more consultative discussions when the opportunity arises. Building Trust Without Saying "What Makes You Different" David advocates for asking open-ended questions like, “What claims frustrate you?” or “What unexpected expenses have you encountered?” He explains that the stories you tell, not the “I'm different because…” statements, are what truly set you apart. Sharing specific examples from past experiences builds credibility and positions you as a valuable partner in their business operations. Creating a Holistic Service Team for Your Clients David discussed how he rebranded Florida Risk's value proposition with a team approach that brings together wealth management, cybersecurity, and business coaching to protect margins and ensure long-term financial health for clients. He explained how this multidisciplinary team addresses total cost of risk by covering areas outside of traditional insurance, giving clients comprehensive protection. How Operational Efficiency Translates to Cost Savings David shared a real-world example of how a service contractor client saved over $100,000 by addressing issues in their experience mod and shifting to a total cost of risk approach. By understanding the client's operations deeply, David was able to identify inefficiencies and help reduce operational risk, showcasing how comprehensive risk management directly impacts profitability. Shifting the Mindset from Transactional to Advisory David emphasized the importance of thinking beyond price and focusing on the value you bring as a trusted advisor. By consistently asking the right questions and identifying hidden risks, producers can differentiate themselves, retain clients longer, and position themselves as integral to the client's success—not just their insurance provider. The Power of Proactive Communication David urges producers to be proactive in communicating with clients, especially when it comes to identifying and mitigating risks that can affect the client's bottom line. He encourages producers to book time with experts to troubleshoot roadblocks and deepen their understanding of total cost of risk, positioning themselves as go-to advisors. Conflict entrepreneurs get money, influence and power by sparking anger and outrage. The Braver Angels call for courageous citizenship does precisely the opposite. In this podcast we hear the case for citizen power not paralysis, action not reaction, and why building America's civic muscle is so much better than burning things down. Here is a passionate, thoughtful and curious conversation between Braver Angels C.E.O. Maury Giles and Wilk Wilkinson, Director of Braver Angels Media Operations. Both came to their work with the campaign after years in the private sector. Maury and Wilk are conservatives in a movement where a majority is either independent or leans blue. Our episode is the latest in more than two dozen "How Do We Fix It?" discussions on the people, projects and ideas of America's largest organization committed to civic renewal and building trust across partisan divides. The edited recording was first published in longer form by Wilk's podcast, "Derate The Hate"."At the end of the day the common thing we're trying to get to is how do you get out of the outrage cycle so you can see clearly what you're going to do next," says Maury.Hear about about America's crisis of mistrust, and the responsibility of citizens to act with courage, instead of reacting with fury and fear. Gain a fully understanding of the case for courageous citizenship. Learn why it's important to recruit more conservatives to our movement. Get the scoop about "A Pledge Renewed", the theme of this year's Braver Angels Convention in Philadelphia. Join host Jeff on this Friday episode of Right On Radio for a wide-ranging program that blends scripture, current events, and intelligence analysis. The show opens with the Word on Word segment — a listener-facing scripture choice between 1 John 3:18 and Ephesians 5 — and reflections on faith, hope, and the sing-along power of Chris Tomlin's “Our God.” Jeff moves into pattern-recognition analysis and media commentary, responding to technical issues from a previous livestream with Tim and previewing his own upcoming books (including a project on "decoding the power of three"). He plays and contextualizes a series of clips including excerpts from Tucker Carlson's Huckabee interview about Bibi Netanyahu's Amalek remarks, clips of rabbis discussing the historical concept of Amalek, and related commentary from media figures such as Rick Wiles and a rabbi's daughter describing hidden practices inside religious communities. The episode digs into military and intelligence topics: reports about the USS Gerald Ford operating in the Middle East (including crew unrest and clogged plumbing reportedly caused by sailors), possible Iranian strike capabilities, and the presence of Chinese and Russian naval assets. Jeff cites voices like Colonel Douglas MacGregor and ties those reports to broader geopolitical concerns. Political and national-security coverage includes clips from Tulsi Gabbard on the "deep state," Secretary Kristi Noem describing discovery of a secret SCIF and alleged surveillance on staff devices, John Solomon on election vulnerabilities and Senate procedure, and viral commentary from Steve Seibold about possible political plans. Jeff also touches on documents and allegations involving the Maxwell family, foreign access to U.S. systems, and historical conspiratorial claims he's tracking. Interwoven with the intelligence and political segments are human-interest moments: a military aviator receiving recognition for bravery, a short classroom clip (a nun teaching the virtue of "doing the little things well"), viewer chat reactions, and fundraising updates for the show. Jeff closes with a call to prayer (Saturday at 8 p.m.), encouragement to love God and neighbor, and a musical send-off. Listeners can expect a mix of biblical reflection, multimedia clip analysis, national-security reporting, and opinionated pattern-recognition — plus references to guests and clips from Tim, Tucker Carlson, Huckabee, Tulsi Gabbard, Kristi Noem, John Solomon, and others. The episode is aimed at listeners who want faith-based commentary tied to provocative media and intelligence topics. Want to Understand and Explain Everything Biblically? Astral Projection, Monroe Institute & the CIA's Stargate: A Christian Wake-Up Groomed for the Occult? From Wrinkle in Time Schools to Remote Viewing Exposed Join host Jeff on Right On Radio as a single post and a few clips spark a full episode unpacking controversial claims surrounding Charlie Kirk's death, Erika Kirk's background, and a growing stream of time-travel and occult-themed narratives being promoted inside and outside conservative circles. Jeff opens with a Candace Owens excerpt and uses that as a springboard to examine schooling, elite connections, and spiritual claims that many listeners will find deeply troubling. The show reviews Candace Owens' segment alleging connections between Erica Kirk and a so-called "Tesseract" school—named after A Wrinkle in Time—and discusses reports of elite involvement in experimental education programs. Jeff plays clips portraying a childhood steeped in strange imagery and makes sense of why conspiracy-minded investigators dig into gaps in public records and unusual childhood claims. Jeff then pivots to a broader look at occult-adjacent practices: hemi-sync and the Monroe Institute, astral projection, remote viewing, and declassified programs like Stargate. A 13-minute visual essay from Magical Mystery Church (Laura) is highlighted, along with references to Katie Souza, Drew Bloom, and historical CIA interest in paranormal intelligence techniques. The episode outlines several methods—mind-altering plant medicines, prolonged meditation/hemi-sync, and hypnotic suggestion—and explains Jeff's concern that these practices can open participants to non-corporal intelligences and deception. Throughout, Jeff frames the material from a Christian perspective: expressing sympathy for individuals exposed in investigations, warning listeners about occult influence and spiritual deception, and distinguishing biblical spiritual experience from what he calls "witchcraft" or engineered trance states. He emphasizes discernment, warns against seducing spirits, and critiques the institutional and cultural forces that normalize these practices. The episode closes with more audio excerpts (including a short Candace Owens clip reflecting on conversations about the "third eye" and astral experiences), show promos, and calls to faith and community action. Listeners are directed to watch the full clips on Rumble or YouTube, find the 13-minute video on Magical Mystery Church, or listen on Podbean for the full context and visuals Jeff references. Trump's State of the Union was the con job of the century: lies about "ending wars" and "securing the border" while drowning in Israeli money and Tel Aviv orders. This wasn't leadership — it was a victory lap for the foreign occupiers who control both parties. Until we drag these traitors out by the neck, America remains occupied and enslaved. Stacy Langton joins Stew to blow the lid off the Zionist Occupied Government's latest assault on American patriots in Fairfax County, Virginia.

This is one of the most personal episodes I've ever recorded. I have an announcement...I'm pregnant. That's right, cutie! We're having a baby! And in this episode, I'm sharing what this moment means not just in my life, but in my identity as a creative. For years, I've talked about creativity as something we make. The art. The ideas. The projects. But this season is inviting me to rethink everything I thought I knew about purpose, growth, and what it really means to create something meaningful. This feels like the greatest creative project of my life so far, and I wanted to share it with you honestly and in real time.In this episode, I talk about:-The greatest lesson I've learned so far -The difference between preparation and pre-suffering -The creative expansion that motherhood can bring -The Power of letting yourself evolve in public-PLUS: the full story of how I found out I was pregnant Thank you for being here with me. It means more than I can say.

In this Daily Shift, Celeste explores how real power doesn't require volume or force. Calm isn't weakness — it's regulation, clarity, and controlled strength. This episode is a reminder that you don't have to escalate to be effective. The most grounded person in the room often holds the most influence. Power doesn't need to be loud to be felt. Watch the YouTube version of this episode HEREAre you looking for some tips on how to become a better lawyer? In this episode of the Maximum Lawyer, lawyer Brooks Derrick shares personal stories and professional insights about the legal profession, emphasizing the importance of empathy, human connection, and community involvement. He discusses balancing technology with genuine client care, recounts overcoming personal and business challenges, and highlights how true success in law comes from serving people, not just optimizing systems. As a seasoned lawyer, Brooks speaks with colleagues live to share what qualities lawyers should have. Great lawyers are compassionate and empathetic to be able to support clients as well as show good judgement when preparing and arguing cases. Living in a world where AI is growing, these kinds of qualities are so important to develop early on so you can balance technology with client care. With the emergence of AI, Brooks talks about how technology can be used to handle the routines of law firms. Whether it's scheduling, drafting documents or researching for a case, AI can be leveraged to get these things done. This is more so for lawyers who are constantly running around from meeting with clients to being in court. The routine tasks of law firms can become onerous, so involving AI in as many aspects of your firm can really help you focus on the important things.Listen in to learn more!1:36 Qualities of a Great Lawyer12:32 Growth and Success of a Firm16:09 The Power of Human Connection18:46 Letting Technology Handle the Routine22:57 The Importance of Human JudgmentConnect with Brooks:Website Tune in to today's episode and checkout the full show notes here.
BrainChip CEO Sean Hehir joins me to unpack where artificial intelligence is actually headed—and why the dominant “everything in the data center” narrative is incomplete. Most AI conversations fixate on massive models, GPU farms, and trillion-dollar infrastructure bets. This episode shifts the frame. Sean and I explore the structural reality that power consumption, latency, and grid constraints are forcing AI to decentralize—and what that means for founders, engineers, and the broader economy.Sean explains how neuromorphic computing and ultra-low-power silicon enable AI inference outside the data center—inside wearables, medical devices, drones, manufacturing systems, and even space applications. We examine why CPUs and GPUs aren't optimized for edge workloads, how custom silicon changes the economics, and why power efficiency isn't a side issue—it's the bottleneck that determines what scales. The conversation expands into workforce displacement, labor fluidity, productivity cycles, and whether technological acceleration inevitably creates unemployment crises—or simply reshuffles value creation again, as history repeatedly shows. This isn't a speculative futurism episode. It's a grounded look at model trends, infrastructure limits, and how companies survive inside a market moving at month-scale rather than decade-scale.The lesson isn't that AI replaces everything. It's that architecture determines outcomes.TL;DR* AI is centralizing in data centers—but it's also rapidly decentralizing to the edge* Power constraints will shape the next phase of AI more than hype cycles* Neuromorphic and event-driven silicon drastically reduce energy per compute* Edge AI enables medical wearables, safety detection, space systems, and industrial automation* Models are getting larger—but optimization techniques will shrink them into smaller form factors* Productivity gains historically displace tasks—not human adaptability* The future isn't about bigger servers—it's about smarter distribution* Lowest power per compute is a strategic advantage, not a marketing lineMemorable Lines* “Don't bet against humanity. We're very creative.”* “The future of AI isn't just in data centers.”* “Power isn't a feature—it's the constraint.”* “If you're the lowest power solution, you will always have customers.”* “Architecture decides what becomes possible.”GuestSean Hehir — CEO of BrainChipTechnology executive leading the commercialization of neuromorphic AI processors focused on ultra-low-power edge inference. Oversees BrainChip's evolution from early engineering innovation to market-driven, customer-focused deployment.
It's Thursday, February 26th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Russian-Ukrainian war in its fifth year The war between Russia and Ukraine entered its fifth year this week. International Christian Concern reports religious communities in the Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine continue to face harassment and violence. Protestant churches are especially targeted with intimidation, raids, and closures. The European Evangelical Alliance is calling on Christians to pray for their brothers and sisters caught in the conflict. The organization noted, “Churches continue to serve courageously. Acts of compassion and solidarity are widespread. Stories of protection, provision, and spiritual awakening remind believers that God remains present and active even in the darkest times.” Romans 8:28 reminds us, “We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” 1.8 million casualties in Russian-Ukrainian war After four years of fighting, Russia and Ukraine have experienced an estimated 1.8 million casualties. That includes people killed, wounded, and missing. U.S. President Donald Trump continues to broker peace talks between the two countries even as the war drags on. Ukrainian representatives plan to meet with U.S. envoys in Geneva, Switzerland today. This is ahead of a potential trilateral meeting between the U.S., Russia, and Ukraine next week. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently wrote on X, “President Trump wants a solution that ends the bloodshed once and for all.” European Commission fines X $140 million Speaking of X, the company is challenging a $140 million fine imposed by the European Commission. The commission is using the European Union's Digital Services Act to impose censorship on American tech companies. Jeremy Tedesco with Alliance Defending Freedom stated, “The platforms the Digital Services Act targets … are the modern public square. They are where Americans debate politics, share their faith, and hold the powerful accountable. … The EU Commission is targeting X for a simple reason: X is committed to free speech, and the Commission demands censorship.” El Mencho's Mexican cartel extorted and harassed pastors As The Worldview reported on Tuesday, Mexico's military forces killed the drug cartel leader, Nemesio Cervantes, known as “El Mencho” on Sunday. He was the most wanted person in Mexico and one of the most wanted people in the United States. The cartel he led was known for terrorizing not only businesses but also church leaders in Mexico. Pastors faced intimidation, extortion, harassment, and threats at the hands of the cartel. Trump affirmed “one nation under God” In the United States, President Donald Trump delivered his 2026 State of the Union Address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday. The speech lasted for an hour and 48 minutes, the longest State of the Union Address in modern tracking. At one point, he asked a question. TRUMP: “One of the great things about the State of the Union is how it gives Americans the chance to see clearly what their representatives really believe. So tonight, I'm inviting every legislator to join with my administration in reaffirming a fundamental principle. “If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support. ‘The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.'” (Republicans applauded) Not surprisingly, all the Republicans stood and all the Democrats remained seated, revealing the stark contrast between the two major parties. Throughout his speech, the president mentioned the upcoming 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. He acknowledged the hand of Providence in our country's destiny and celebrated recent renewal in religious interest among young people. Listen. TRUMP: “I'm very proud to say that during my time in office, both the first four years, and in particular this last year, there has been a tremendous renewal in religion, faith, Christianity and belief in God. “This is especially true among young people, and a big part of that had to do with my great friend, Charlie Kirk, a great guy, a great man.” (You can watch the State of the Union here.) Singer Johnny Cash remembered for faith in Christ And finally, today marks the birthday of Johnny Cash. The iconic American singer was born on February 26, 1932. He rose to fame in the music scene in the 1950s before coming to Christ later in the 1970s. He became known as the “Man in Black” for his all-black stage suits. After his conversion, Cash would use his music to share the Gospel, often performing at Billy Graham Crusades. Cash remains one the best-selling music artists of all time. He was inducted into the Country Music, Rock and Roll, and Gospel Music Halls of Fame. One of his last recorded songs was called “I Came to Believe.” Listen to the chorus. “I came to believe in a Power much higher than I. I came to believe that I needed help to get by. In childlike faith, I gave in and gave Him a try. And I came to believe in a Power much higher than I.” Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Pick up a copy of Greg Laurie's biography entitled, Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon. In this episode of the Gladden Longevity Podcast, Dr. Jeffrey Gladden sits down in person with fitness and nutrition expert Autumn Calabrese to unpack the full truth about GLP-1 agonists. With millions of people jumping on semaglutide, tirzepatide, and soon retatrutide, the conversation most doctors aren't having is about what's actually happening inside the body while the scale goes down. Dr. Gladden breaks down how GLP-1s suppress hunger, slow metabolism, and trigger muscle wasting when used without proper diagnostics or a supporting protocol. He explains the critical differences between GLP-1s, GLP-2s, and GLP-3s, reveals why the ghrelin rebound causes most people to regain everything they lost, and shares the strategies he uses in his practice to help patients lose fat while protecting lean tissue. From the 5-day fasting mimicking diet to natural GLP-1 boosters like metabolic probiotics and calocurb, this episode lays out a smarter, more sustainable path to optimizing body composition. Whether you're considering a GLP-1, already on one, or looking for alternatives, this is the conversation that could change your entire approach. Thyroid dysfunction, declining sex hormones, and missing micronutrients can all be the real driver. • Sex hormone optimization during perimenopause and andropause is critical for maintaining body composition. • Willpower never wins long term. Why does change feel so hard—especially for military spouses? If you've ever told yourself you just need more willpower, motivation, or discipline, this episode challenges that belief. In this episode of More Than a Milspouse, we unpack why habit change often fails in military life and why stress, PCS moves, deployments, and constant unpredictability make traditional approaches to change ineffective. You'll learn the three biggest myths about change, why willpower and motivation don't work long-term, and how shame keeps military spouses stuck in cycles of starting over. We'll also introduce a more compassionate, sustainable approach to habit change—one that works with real military life, not against it. Most people spend significant time planning how to build wealth, but far fewer consider how their family would access that wealth if something unexpected happened. For Americans living in Israel who maintain U.S. brokerage or retirement accounts, that question can be more complex than it appears. The challenge usually involves authority, documentation, and cross-border procedures. From the outside, U.S. accounts often appear unchanged after someone relocates to Israel. Statements arrive, online access continues, and the accounts seem stable. That familiarity can create comfort, but it can also hide administrative challenges that surface during estate transitions. When inheritance meets two legal systems Inheritance is often assumed to be simple. A relative passes away, assets transfer to heirs, and accounts continue under new ownership. Cross-border estates rarely follow that pattern. Consider a common situation. A son lives in Israel while his parent maintains brokerage accounts in the United States. The parent passes away and the will names the son as the heir. From the son's perspective, the next step seems straightforward. Notify the financial institution, submit documentation, and transfer the accounts. Instead, access to the accounts often stops immediately after the parent's death. Financial institutions typically freeze accounts once they receive notification. This step protects assets and ensures that only properly authorized individuals can act. At that point, the focus shifts from who should inherit the assets to who has legal authority to act on behalf of the estate. That distinction frequently creates confusion. Family expectations often rely on intent. Legal systems rely on documentation and verification. When required paperwork is incomplete or delayed, inheritance can slow significantly. Beneficiary designations and wills Many retirement and brokerage accounts use beneficiary designations on their retirement accounts. When completed correctly and kept current, they normally allow assets to transfer directly to heirs without probate. Financial institutions still require verification before releasing assets. But regular brokerage accounts don't usually have the possibility of a beneficiary designation. "What about transfer-on-death accounts (TOD)?" you might ask. If the account owner and heirs all live in the United States, that might work, but for people who live overseas, the TOD may not work and the brokerage firms may require a probated will. Probate is the court-supervised process that confirms who has legal authority to inherit assets. Depending on jurisdiction and estate complexity, it can take considerable time and delay account access. Power of attorney can create misunderstandings. While it may allow someone to manage accounts during a person's lifetime, that authority generally ends at death. Even if a family member previously helped manage accounts, that control disappears once the account holder passes away. Online account logins do not replace legal authority and continued use after death can create additional complications. Additional documentation cross-border families often face Cross-border inheritance frequently introduces procedural steps that families do not anticipate. Documents may require notarization, apostilles, or translation. Financial institutions may request tax clearance before releasing assets. Communication often involves multiple time zones and unfamiliar regulatory processes. Each requirement exists for protective and regulatory reasons. Financial institutions must verify identity, confirm authority, and comply with legal obligations. For families managing responsibilities from another country, the administrative process can still feel overwhelming. Many individuals assume that having a will resolves these challenges. A will remains an important estate planning document, but it functions within the legal system where it was created. When heirs live abroad, additional validation steps may still be required. Why inheritance paperwork often continues after assets transfer Inheritance rarely ends when accounts transfer. It often unfolds in stages that may include estate administration, account restructuring, and tax considerations across multiple countries. In the United States, estate taxes may apply depending on estate size and applicable thresholds. In Israel, receiving inherited assets may create reporting obligations depending on the circumstances. If inherited investments are later sold, capital gains rules in one or both countries may apply. Retirement accounts such as IRAs can introduce further complexity. Required minimum distributions may create ongoing reporting responsibilities and potential taxable events based on the heir's individual situation. This article is intended for educational purposes only and should not be considered financial, legal, or tax advice. Each situation involves unique factors and should be reviewed with qualified professionals. Planning that may help reduce future delays Cross-border estate planning does not eliminate complexity, but it can reduce uncertainty and help coordinate financial, legal, and administrative processes. Families who experience smoother inheritance transitions often share several habits. They periodically review beneficiary designations to confirm they reflect current intentions. They maintain organized records of accounts, financial institutions, and contact details. They revisit estate planning documents after relocating to Israel to confirm the structure remains effective. When planning evolves alongside life changes, families often encounter fewer unexpected administrative obstacles. Practical steps that may improve preparedness Americans living in Israel who maintain U.S. investment accounts may benefit from several foundational steps. Maintaining a consolidated list of accounts can help family members identify financial institutions and contact details if needed. Reviewing beneficiary designations can help confirm retirement accounts align with estate planning goals. Discussing financial account access with family members may help clarify who should contact financial institutions and which documentation may be required. These steps do not eliminate every challenge, but they may reduce uncertainty and help families navigate complex situations more effectively. Schedule a Conversation If you are living in Israel and managing U.S. brokerage or I.R.A. accounts, and you are unsure whether your investments still make sense for your situation, it may be worth taking a fresh look. You can book a free cross-border evaluation call here: https://profile-financial.com/call. It is a no pressure conversation and a chance to see whether your current setup aligns with how you live today.
Summary: What if work didn't have to feel exhausting, overwhelming, or misaligned with who you are? In this powerful episode of On the Brink with Andi Simon, I sit down with executive coach and HR consultant Lindsey Barnett, author of Working Hell to Working Well, to explore how individuals and organizations can transform the workplace experience. In a world where burnout feels commonplace and "busy" has become a badge of honor, what if we paused long enough to ask: Does work have to feel this hard? Designing the Workplace of Tomorrow, Today In a recent episode of On the Brink with Andi Simon, I had the pleasure of speaking with Lindsey Barnett—executive coach, HR consultant, and author of Working Hell to Working Well. Lindsey's journey from anthropology student to organizational change leader offers a fresh and deeply human lens on how we can transform our workplaces—and ourselves. As someone who often describes myself as a corporate anthropologist, I was delighted to discover Lindsey once used that same phrase. Her academic roots in anthropology and organizational behavior shaped her understanding that companies are, in many ways, small-scale societies. They have rituals, hierarchies, insiders and outsiders, power dynamics, and shared myths. When conflict arises at work, it is rarely just about tasks—it's about people navigating culture. Lindsey Barnett was Finding Her Through Line Lindsey's path was anything but linear. She began studying archaeology, fascinated by the lives of people long gone. But as research leaders increasingly asked her to help with team dynamics, she realized her gifts were better used with the living. She moved into advertising, then human resources, always following a deeper curiosity about human behavior. Later, when her family relocated to Australia, she experienced a powerful shift. As a working mother who suddenly was not working, she confronted a loss of identity. That moment became pivotal. Through reflection, Lindsey identified what she calls her "Three I's"—the core needs she must meet to feel fulfilled in her work: Intellectual challenge Impact Interaction Once she named them, she saw that these needs could be met in multiple ways. Writing children's books, forming a writers' group, and returning to organizational development were not disconnected moves. They were creative responses to those core needs. There is a powerful lesson here: when you understand what truly energizes you, your options expand dramatically. The Workplace Stalemate In Working Hell to Working Well, Lindsey addresses a tension many of us recognize. Leaders often say, "You are responsible for your own wellbeing." Employees respond, "How can I manage my wellbeing when expectations and workloads are out of control?" The result? A stalemate. Lindsey's approach is pragmatic. Don't wait for the other side to change. Start with what you can control. Model healthier behaviors. Create safety through example. When leaders visibly leave work to attend a child's event—or even "leave loudly," as one leader she interviewed described—something shifts. Turning off the lights, closing the laptop, and saying goodbye intentionally signals permission. Culture changes through what is normalized. The Three P's: A Practical Framework for Working Well For those who want tools, Lindsey offers a memorable framework: Planning, Pacing, and Playing. Planning doesn't require a 30-page strategy document. It can be as simple as choosing one intentional action—like buying a larger water bottle to improve hydration. Small commitments, consistently executed, compound into meaningful change. Pacing involves awareness. Are you rushing blindly toward tasks? Are you collaborating across silos or duplicating effort? Slowing down just enough to ask better questions can unlock faster progress. Playing introduces experimentation and curiosity. Whether you call it "play" or a "pilot project," approaching change with a spirit of experimentation reduces fear of failure. Play fuels innovation. These aren't abstract concepts. They are immediately actionable. Charging Your Energy Battery Beyond productivity, Lindsey speaks about energy. Traditional advice focuses on sleep, diet, and exercise. While important, she expands the conversation into three types of energy that recharge us: Creative Energy: Designing, building, imagining. Creativity restores vitality. Connection Energy: Relationships, purpose, time in nature, or alignment with mission. Completion Energy: Finishing something—even something small. Making the bed or folding laundry can provide a tangible sense of accomplishment that renews motivation. During the pandemic, some executives criticized employees for doing laundry at home. Lindsey reframes this. Completion energy matters. Small wins sustain momentum. As anthropologists of work, we must ask: what assumptions are we carrying about productivity that no longer serve us? The Power of the Pause When asked to share her top advice, Lindsey emphasized one simple but profound practice: pause. In a culture obsessed with output, pausing can feel counterintuitive. Yet it is in the pause that we ask: Do I need to be doing this? Is there a better way? What does my body need right now? Who else should be involved? The pause creates space for intention. And intention drives sustainable change. Role Modeling Change Culture does not shift because of policies alone. It shifts because people see others behaving differently and feel safe to do the same. Whether it's taking a midday walk, setting boundaries around meetings, or openly prioritizing family, visible modeling invites replication. As Lindsey shared, we don't have to wait for permission to begin. From Observation to Innovation What I appreciate most about Lindsey's work is its grounded optimism. She does not deny that workplaces can feel like "working hell." But she believes transformation is possible—through small actions, mindful energy management, and courageous modeling. As you reflect on your own work life, consider: What are your core needs? Where could you plan one small shift? What might you pace differently? How could you introduce more play? And perhaps most importantly: when will you pause? If we are willing to observe our own habits with anthropological curiosity, we can turn those observations into innovations. That is how we move—from working hell to working well. To learn more about Lindsey Barnett and her book, visit your favorite bookseller or connect with her on LinkedIn. In this episode of Disruption/Interruption, KJ sits down with Stacy Richter, CEO of Live Lingua, to explore how the EdTech industry has lost sight of what really matters: human connection. Stacy shares his unconventional journey from corporate collections to boutique marketing to language education, revealing how technology became the status quo it was supposed to disrupt. Discover why the "four-legged stool" approach—combining live tutors, technology, AI tools, and resources—is transforming language learning outcomes and bringing the human element back into education. Four Key Takeaways: (9:12) The Technology Paradox - In language learning, technology has become the status quo rather than the disruptor. EdTech platforms are now the norm, but the pendulum swung so far toward exclusive technology that learners lost the human connection essential for true language acquisition. (13:13) Transactional vs. Transformational Learning - Language learning apps excel at increasing screen time and gamification, but their primary goal isn't actual fluency—it's engagement. Real language mastery requires moving beyond transactional interactions to transformational, person-to-person connections that build relationships and trust. (22:58) The Full-Stack Language Model - Live Lingua's "four-legged stool" approach combines live human tutors (the hub), integrated technology, AI tools for practice, and supplementary resources. This hybrid model makes tutoring sessions 10x more valuable and can shorten the learning curve by months or even years. (30:29) The Power of One Connection - Technology cannot replace the value of human connection. As Stacy emphasizes, you're only one conversation, one relationship away from a breakthrough in your personal or professional life—a truth that applies far beyond language learning. Quote of the Show (9:12):"In the education space, the technology has become the status quo. The pendulum swung from personalized in-person services... so far the other way where it's been exclusively technology.” – Stacy Richter Join our Anti-PR newsletter where we’re keeping a watchful and clever eye on PR trends, PR fails, and interesting news in tech so you don't have to. What if your spiritual awakening was so powerful, you thought you were being mind controlled? In this episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati — global spiritual leader and bestselling author of Come Home to Yourself and Hollywood to the Himalayas — reveals the raw, unfiltered truth about the awakening that shattered her old identity and opened her to a universal realization: everything is connected through unconditional love. But it didn't start peacefully. At first, she thought she was losing her mind. From a science-trained skeptic to a spiritual teacher living in the Himalayas, Sadhviji shares what divinity actually feels like in the body, what happens when your attachment to your identity explodes, and why her awakening was so radical it led to the end of her marriage. Sadhviji breaks down: - Her journey through disordered eating, trauma, abandonment, and codependency before awakening - Why healing childhood wounds is essential so adult triggers stop running your life - Physical process of releasing anger, pain, and stored trauma from the body - What's really holding most of us back from spiritual experiences - How she resists physical temptations and stays grounded in spiritual discipline - Freedom that comes from “Breaking Free of the Self” - How to integrate smaller spiritual experiences (even if you haven't had a lightning-bolt awakening) - Power of holy and sacred places for us as energetic beings - How divine intelligence in nature reveals the “unexplainable” - Why coming into everything with an open heart changes your entire reality With her background in science, Sadhviji also shares her fascinating perspective on watching quantum physics slowly catch up in attempting to explain mystical truths sages have known for millennia, and what it will actually take to spark a global spiritual awakening (hint: it's not as impossible as we think) This isn't just a spiritual story. It's a blueprint for healing, awakening, and living in radical love. I share the subtle signs that you've outgrown your current messaging, positioning, or even the way you show up online, and why trying to “optimize” from your old identity will only keep you stuck. If you've been feeling friction, plateaued growth, or like your voice doesn't quite match the woman you are now, this conversation will hit home. I also break down the practical shifts required to recalibrate — from refining your positioning and elevating your standards to making bold, strategic decisions that reflect your next level. This isn't about doing more; it's about becoming more precise, more honest, and more aligned.
