Tanner Petty then leads us in a powerful time of guided prayer as we turn to the Lord, come unveiled, and live with an expectation of real change in the presence of Jesus.

Twelve years ago, the Hammersmith Chess Club in London was down to fewer than 20 members and facing an uncertain future. Today, thanks to committed volunteers, a welcoming culture, and the broader boom in chess, it's the largest chess club in London, and was recently named ECF Chess Club of the Year. I'm joined by Hammersmith Club Captain Gaston Franco to discuss the club's remarkable turnaround and what other communities can learn from it. We cover topics like financial sustainability, league play, and gender dynamics, as well as the importance of creating an inclusive, welcoming environment. We also explore Gaston's own chess journey, which highlights one of the game's great strengths: its ability to provide instant community, especially when moving alone to a new country. The Hidden Lightness with Jimmy Hinton – At the core of Jelly Roll's transformation is a candid conversation about addiction. Not just to substances, but to food—its comfort, its distraction, its deceptive embrace. Jelly was willing to sit in discomfort, to face the emotions he had long turned away from, and to replace old habits with new disciplines rooted in intention, not avoidance...

Let me guess. It's a new year, and you're supposed to feel motivated. Excited. Ready for a fresh start. But instead? You just feel tired. Tired of being tired. Tired of trying. Tired of feeling like you're starting over AGAIN with your eating disorder recovery. Everywhere you look, you're being bombarded with "new year, new you" messages. Detoxes. Transformation challenges. Fresh starts. Clean slates. And if you're in ED recovery, you know exactly what that pressure feels like—and how triggering it is. Here's what I need you to hear: A calendar flipping to January 1st doesn't magically fix anything. But there IS one emotion that will actually get you out of ED hell. And it's probably not what you think. In this raw, no-BS episode, I'm getting provocative, confrontational, and real with you about the power of frustration—and why being absolutely sick and tired of yourself and your eating disorder might be the best thing that could happen to your recovery. This isn't your typical "be kind to yourself" recovery talk. This is me calling you out with love, getting you MAD, and helping you channel that anger into the fuel you need to actually change. In this episode, you'll discover: Why "new year, new you" is toxic garbage (especially in ED recovery) The ONE emotion that will actually get you out of ED hell (hint: it's frustration) Why feeling "sick of yourself" isn't weakness—it's readiness My personal story of how I had to get ANGRY with myself to finally stop playing games with recovery What your eating disorder has actually taken from you over the years (and how many more years you're going to let it take) 3 powerful action steps to channel your frustration: plate-throwing, journaling prompts, and the anger letter The raw, unfiltered reality of what recovery actually takes (no sugarcoating) Why you need to stop negotiating with your ED and start getting pissed off enough to do something different If you're done playing victim to your own story. If you're sick of half-assing your recovery. If you're ready to get FRUSTRATED enough to finally take action—this episode is for you. Let's go.
The Delicate Art Of Transformation is out 01/11/2026 - It will be available here Have you ever noticed how your biggest breakthroughs almost always arrive after a stretch of discomfort, confusion, or feeling like everything is falling apart? In this episode, I'm unpacking the pattern that shows up everywhere — in nature, in healing, in growth, and in real transformation. From butterflies and seasons to forest fires and tides, there's a universal rhythm that governs how change actually happens. When you start to see this pattern repeated across life, it stops feeling personal. You realize you're not broken — you're in process. This episode is deeply inspired by my book The Delicate Art of Transformation, officially releasing January 11th✨
Heartbreak can turn even the strongest among us into tireless editors of the past. We replay scenes, bargain with “what if,” and try to outrun regret. This conversation changes that script. With transformation specialist Dr. Dravon James, we explore forgiveness not as a soft ideal but as a rigorous, practical pathway to real happiness. Acceptance—“it is what it is”—stops sounding like surrender and starts feeling like authorship. As Dravon says, you can't change a yellow wall to blue without first naming yellow. We dive into a blank-canvas practice that's equal parts tender and disarming: release old labels, whisper “I am nothing,” and notice what appears. From that openness, the questions sharpen: Which version of me is complete? What wants to be created now? Along the way, we trade perfection for progress and explore how safety in relationships grows when we allow the power of “no.” Boundaries become bridges when consent enters hard conversations and curiosity replaces assumption. That's where real repair begins.Dravon's insights on self-trust come alive here: before self-love, rebuild faith in your own choices by noticing how often you've already shown up for yourself. When we tune into that inner station, synchronicity feels less like luck and more like alignment. Sometimes the truth within says a long relationship has run its course. Hearing it is hard. Ignoring it is harder. If you're ready to stop punishing yourself, to let “no” deepen intimacy rather than threaten it, and to turn heartbreak into wisdom you can actually use, this episode is for you. Listen, share it with someone who needs a softer way forward, and leave a review so more people can find their path to everyday peace. Then tell us: what label are you ready to set down today?Connect with Dr. Dravon James:Website: https://drdravonjames.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/drdravonjamesFacebook: www.facebook.com/everydaypeacewithdrdravonjamesBook: Forgiveness: The Pathway to HappinessChelsea Leigh Trescott: Email: chelsea@breakupward.com Instagram: https://instagram.com/thankyouheartbreak Advice Column: https://www.huffpost.com Writing: https://thoughtcatalog.com/chelsea-leigh-trescott

Modellen STOR får du her - Frameworket ”De Fire Esser” får du ved at signe dig op her. Men først får du STOR modellen. Hvordan bruger du modellen i praksis? ...

Confession: we've never really paid that much attention to Epiphany. After the wonder and festivities of Advent and Christmas, this liturgical season can often get overlooked. But that changes today! In this very average discussion, we get back to our roots: "definition time"! We share what we know about the three wise men (it's not much), learn about Epiphany traditions (why chalk on the door?), and discuss the significance of the lectionary readings that connect these first few weeks of the year. We hope this episode inspires you to hang a paper star and get out your chalk! Can't get enough of the Average Episcopalian? Send us a textEpisode OverviewIn this episode of The Own It Show, host Justin Roethlingshoefer delivers a powerful solo message on what it truly takes to become the best version of yourself in 2026. Drawing from a decade of personal growth, leadership, and faith-driven refinement, Justin challenges the idea that transformation comes from doing more—and instead reveals why lasting change comes from doing the right things. He unpacks the difference between survival and identity, exposing why most people don't lack ambition or goals, but alignment, capacity, and character. This episode serves as a wake-up call to stop outsourcing responsibility and start intentionally becoming who you were created to be.Episode Highlights● Radical Ownership: Ownership isn't blame or shame—it's truth without defense. Transformation begins the moment you fully own your rhythms, decisions, and patterns. ● Relief vs. Change: Most people don't actually want transformation; they want relief. Ownership forces you to confront what your life is revealing about you. ● Obsessive Obedience: Growth requires radical obedience to both God and wise mentorship. Stillness, listening, and accountability unlock direction and clarity. ● The Power of Alignment: Alignment occurs when values, behaviors, schedule, and body are no longer at war with each other. Alignment must come before assignment. ● Character Before Calling: God won't bless what your character can't sustain. Capacity is built through intentional obedience and alignment over time.Action Steps● Ask yourself: “Am I becoming who I'm called to be—or just getting better at surviving?” ● Practice radical ownership by identifying one daily pattern that's working against the future version of you. ● Create stillness each day—five minutes of silence to listen before you act. ● Identify a mentor who is aligned in values, ahead of you in growth, and willing to hold you accountable. ● Audit your calendar: does it reflect what you say matters most? ● Before saying yes, ask: “Does this decision support the future version of me?” ● Choose alignment over speed—clarity, peace, and power follow obedience.Chapters00:00 Introduction — Becoming the Best Version of You in 2026 01:30 Survival vs. Identity 03:00 Why Information Doesn't Create Transformation 04:45 Radical Ownership Defined 06:00 Patterns, Responsibility, and Personal Power 07:45 The Dangerous Prayer for Character 09:15 Obsessive Obedience Explained 11:00 Stillness, Listening, and God's Direction 12:45 The Role of Mentorship and Accountability 14:30 Alignment Before Assignment 16:15 Values, Calendars, and Contradictions 18:00 Misalignment, Fatigue, and Compromise 19:45 Asking Better Questions Through Alignment 21:30 The Cost—and Reward—of Alignment 23:30 Ownership, Obedience, and Alignment in Practice 25:00 Closing Challenge — Choosing Who You're Becoming===========================Subscribe and Listen to the Own It Show HERE:➡︎ YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/@justinroethlingshoefer➡︎ Apple Podcasts:https://apple.co/3KCyN3j➡︎ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3F58Ez4lbIKQ6kMu2pfpIG===========================Resources:⚡️CHECK OUR PROGRAMS: https://ownitcoaching.com/programs/⚡️BOOK: https://thepowerofownershipbook.com/=========================== Connect with Justin Roethlingshoefer on Social Media:➡︎ linkedin.com/in/justin-roethlingshoefer➡︎https://www.instagram.com/justinroeth/?hl=en

In Part I of this two-part series, we focused on the magnificent gift that we as Christians are given when we accept the redemption for our sins available through Jesus' sacrifice. We talked about the magnitude of this gift and how true disciples of Jesus are also required to give back as a result of receiving this gift. According to Scripture, the action of “giving back” is accomplished through our responsibility to reverently care for it. This care is clearly identified by how we choose to live our lives as genuine followers of Christ. Fortunately, we have clear and concise instructions waiting for us in the Scriptures! Part I established the “required care focuses” from Romans 12:1—recognition, awe, gratitude, humility, intentional self‑denial, adopting a new mindset and full engagement. These attitudes prepare believers for the deeper work of transformation highlighted in the next verse. Romans 12:2 introduces two essential components of discipleship: NOT conforming to the world Being transformed by the renewing of the mind. Additionally, we suggest Christian non‑conformity has two "levels:" We must be OUT of alignment with the world's values We must walk away from our own internal habits, desires and emotional patterns. Jesus modeled this non‑conformity through his kingdom‑focused life, and his disciples were called to leave behind their former identities and occupations to follow him. The result: a "new creation" Transformation in Christ cannot begin until non‑conformity has intentionally been chosen. 2 Corinthians 5:14–17 and Philippians 3:13–15 reveal that transformation involves seeing others—and even Christ himself—from a spiritual perspective rather than a fleshly one. The Greek word for “transform” (metamorphoō) indicates a complete change of form, illustrated by the transfiguration of Jesus and the believer's gradual change “from glory to glory” through the spirit. This transformation results in becoming a “new creation,” something entirely fresh and never before existing. This process is lifelong, requiring perseverance, repeated decisions and reliance on God's strength. Ultimately, transformation leads to receiving a “new name” and full acceptance by God, symbolized in Revelation 2:17. True discipleship is radical, intentional, and deeply rewarding, culminating in participation in God's future work of blessing all humanity. A Few Key Takeaways True transformation begins only after intentional non‑conformity to the world. Discipleship requires daily self‑denial, a renewed mindset and full engagement. Transformation is a gradual, spirit‑driven process that reshapes identity and purpose. True believers become a “new creation,” ultimately receiving God's full approval and a symbolic “new name.”

This interview,Live from LEAD-26 in Zurich, links real leadership lessons to lived experience. Fabian, a CIO and ultra runner, talks limits, psychological safety, and practical steps. He also shares a clear, cautious view on generative AI and a smart fast follower strategy for regulated organizations. Key Learnings: Admit leadership limits: Openly share small, real limits with your team to build reflection and performance. Psychological safety matters: Create a safe team space so people speak up and help cover leadership gaps. Use smart fast follower: Experiment early, then buy enterprise-ready solutions to avoid costly long-term build and maintenance. Summary: Fabian Ringwald is the CIO of a Swiss health insurance company. He says they have the most satisfied customers in the industry. He is also a board member at lead 26 and helps shape conference content and speaker selection. Outside work he runs ultra trails. He runs over 100 kilometers and gains more than 6,000 meters of altitude. These runs can take more than 20 hours and include day and night. Night is more challenging. The long runs teach self-leadership and a clear view of personal limits. Fabian argues that every leader has limits. He says hiding limits wastes energy because close colleagues already see them. He encourages leaders to share limits openly with their teams. Open discussion builds self-reflection and helps form a high performance team. Teams can then help fill leadership gaps. He highlights psychological safety as the key trait that separates good leaders from great leaders. He recommends starting small when opening up. Share a minor limitation first, set an example, and scale openness gradually over time. Fabian says AI is not the solution for everything. He explains generative AI is a statistical tool and is not suited for fully deterministic tasks. He sees strong potential in areas like detecting anomalies on MRI or CT images, but he warns against using generative AI for direct medical advice. His company follows a smart fast follower strategy: experiment early with startups, then adopt enterprise-ready solutions rather than build long-lived custom systems. To keep agility, get top-down alignment with the board and enable bottom-up experiments with LLMs or ChatGPT for hands-on learning. Choosing Yourself Before Life Forces the Choice On the latest episode of Everyday Injustice, host David Greenwald speaks with Hakeem McFarland, a motivational speaker, wellness coach, author, and the founder of the Choose Yourself Movement, a philosophy built around reclaiming identity, integrity, and purpose in a culture driven by external validation. McFarland's message is direct and uncompromising: before chasing achievement, status, or approval, people must first confront who they are when no one is watching and take responsibility for the systems that shape their daily lives. McFarland traces the origins of his work to repeated personal breaking points marked by grief, loss, addiction, and incarceration, culminating in a period of enforced solitude that forced him to confront himself without distraction or numbing. Rather than framing transformation as a sudden epiphany, he describes it as a disciplined process built through small, repeatable actions—sleep routines, mindful consumption, accountability, and habits that prioritize delayed gratification over instant relief. Choosing oneself, he argues, is not an abstract affirmation but a measurable practice rooted in what a person consistently does for their own well-being. At the center of this philosophy is the Choose Yourself Movement, a community designed as what McFarland calls an “integrity loop,” where participants publicly commit to personal goals and support one another in following through. Through weekly meetings, challenges, retreats, and daily accountability, the movement seeks to disrupt cycles of self-neglect and avoidance by replacing them with structure, honesty, and shared responsibility. McFarland emphasizes that community is not about motivation alone, but about creating conditions where excuses become harder to sustain. In the conversation, McFarland also reflects on authenticity as the foundation of lasting change, arguing that people often struggle because they are living versions of themselves shaped by conditioning rather than conviction. The episode explores why guilt, fear of judgment, and consumption-driven habits keep people stuck, and how confronting discomfort—rather than avoiding it—is essential to reclaiming agency. For listeners navigating burnout, identity loss, or a sense of stagnation, the discussion offers a stark but grounded challenge: no one is coming to save you, but the tools to begin are already within reach.

In this episode Drora Arussy speaks with historian Adam S. Ferziger about his latest book, Agents of Change: American Jews and the Transformation of Israeli Judaism (New York University Press, 2025). Ferziger, a professor at Bar-Ilan University and one of the leading voices in the study of modern religious movements, offers a compelling exploration of the transnational interactions that have reshaped Israeli Judaism and redefined the contours of religious Zionism. Agents of Change investigates how ideas, teachers, and institutions moved across the Atlantic between America and Israel, creating new hybrid forms of Jewish religious expression. Ferziger focuses on a group of North American Orthodox rabbis and educators, many of them students of Rabbi Dr. Joseph B. Soloveitchik at Yeshiva University, who immigrated to Israel between 1965 and 1983. These figures—working at the nexus of American Modern Orthodoxy and Israeli religious Zionism—introduced new educational paradigms, reimagined communal norms, and ultimately diversified the ideological landscape of Israeli Orthodoxy. The conversation delves into the shifting meaning of religious Zionism after the 1967 Six-Day War, when a movement once on the margins of Zionist politics emerged as a vital force within Israeli society. Ferziger traces how theological optimism about Israel's redemptive role led to internal debates over nationalism, messianism, and engagement with secular Israeli culture. He also shows how American-trained educators brought new emphases on intellectual openness, structured learning, and ethical responsibility that subtly reconfigured Israeli Torah study and communal life. Interwoven through the dialogue is a broader reflection on transnational educational exchange—how Jewish learning operates as both a local and global phenomenon. Ferziger emphasizes education's transformative potential: students, he argues, do not merely replicate ideas but reinterpret them within new social and cultural frames. This dynamic has fueled the growth of innovative models in contemporary Israel, from advanced programs for women's Torah study to initiatives blending religious learning with military and civic service. Arussy and Ferziger also discuss adjacent developments, including the integration of American Haredim into Israeli society, the emergence of Orthodox feminism as a transnational phenomenon, and the rise of global study networks such as Hadran, founded by Michelle Farber. Through these case studies, Ferziger illustrates how the intellectual and spiritual currents flowing between America and Israel continue to reshape what it means to live a religious Jewish life in a modern state. Throughout the interview, Ferziger reflects on the delicate balance between personal engagement and scholarly distance, underscoring the historian's task of acknowledging one's perspective while maintaining methodological transparency. His approach embodies the spirit of Agents of Change: to view Jewish history not as a story confined within national borders but as a transnational dialogue that continually evolves through exchange, adaptation, and reinterpretation. Agents of Change: American Jews and the Transformation of Israeli Judaism offers an incisive analysis of how transnational networks have redefined modern Jewish identities. This sermon introduces the new year series, "My Job Depends on Ag," using agriculture as a metaphor for spiritual growth. The pastor begins with a confession about struggling to trust God with finances (both for the church's summer camp and the Amigo Row building project) and how asking for help led to miraculous provision. He emphasizes that spiritual growth is not like technology—it doesn't happen instantly with the push of a button. Instead, it's like farming: slow, incremental, often invisible, and dependent on creating the right conditions.Scripture References1 Corinthians 3:18: "And we all... are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory."Romans 8:28-30: God's purpose is for us to be "conformed to the image of his Son."Luke 8:4-15: The Parable of the Sower, illustrating four types of soil and the importance of perseverance for a harvest.1 Thessalonians 5:23-24: "The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it."Key PointsDon't Settle for Less: The pastor's confession highlights the temptation to settle when tired of contending. Whether in finances, relationships, or faith, God often calls us to press on rather than accept the status quo. We need community to spur us on when our own faith is weak.Growth is Like Agriculture, Not an App: Spiritual transformation is not a "zap" or a flash. It is organic, often invisible to the naked eye, and happens over time. Jesus used agricultural metaphors (soil, seed, harvest) because they accurately reflect how the Kingdom of God works.Intentionality vs. Accident: No one accidentally gets a great marriage, a fit body, or a deep relationship with Jesus. While growth ultimately comes from God (like a tree growing), we must be intentional about creating the conditions for that growth (planting, watering, tending). We cannot drift into spiritual maturity. The Parable of the Soils: Jesus explains that the same seed (God's Word) produces different results based on the soil of our hearts.Path: The enemy snatches the word away.Rocky Ground: No root; faith withers in testing.Thorns: Choked by worries, riches, and pleasures; does not mature.Good Soil: Hears, retains, and perseveres to produce a crop.ConclusionGod has a plan for your growth in 2026. He desires your transformation even more than you do. While we must be intentional, we can rest in the promise that "The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it." We are invited to partner with Him, tending the soil of our hearts so that His Word can produce a harvest.Calls to ActionAssess Your Intentions: On a scale of 1-10, how intentional are you about your spiritual growth? Move from hoping for accidental growth to planning for intentional formation.Refuse to Settle: identify areas where you have stopped contending for God's best (marriage, health, faith) and ask Him for renewed faith to press on.Tend Your Soil: As we begin this series, prepare your heart to receive God's Word. Identify any "rocks" or "thorns" (worries, distractions) that might be choking your growth. Support the show*Summaries and transcripts are generated using AI. Please notify us if you find any errors.
Drawing on memory studies and theatrical history, Commemorative Acts: French Theatre and the Memory of the Great War (University of Toronto Press, 2025) analyses a neglected body of plays staged in France after the Great War, between 1918 and 1937, to reveal their profound impact on collective memory and cultural identity. In the aftermath of the Great War, a remarkable wave of collective commemoration emerged, but the aesthetic diversity of this period has often been overshadowed by a singular focus on the combatant experience, primarily conveyed through fiction and memoir. This selective historical narrative has fostered a homogenized memory of the war, neglecting the rich array of cultural productions that also emerged alongside it. Commemorative Acts challenges these prevailing assumptions about the memory of the Great War and its literary expression in interwar France by spotlighting theatrical works that have largely been forgotten. The book uncovers how the dominance of first-person accounts of soldiers' experiences has subtly, yet powerfully, narrowed our understanding of what the memory of the Great War can encompass. It explores how drama, structurally at odds with the first-person perspective and defined by its simultaneous modes of expression and reception, has been lost to collective memory. By examining the unique capacity of the dramatic form to capture war trauma, Commemorative Acts offers insights that differ from those of other literary genres, highlighting the theatre's potential to provide a more expansive and nuanced understanding of interwar memorial culture. Author Susan McCready is Professor of French at the University of South Alabama and the co-director for the Center for the Study of War and Memory at South Alabama; she is also the author of 2016's Staging France between the World Wars: Performance, Politics, and the Transformation of the Theatrical Canon and 2007's The Limits of Performance in the French Romantic Theatre, as well as the co-editor of Novel Stages: Drama and the Novel in Nineteenth-Century France in 2007. She has also co-edited a volume of Lingua Romana on France and Memory in the Great War, and has authored many academic articles and chapters on French theater and related topics, as well as a number of public humanities projects on war and memory. Host Gina Stamm is Associate Professor of French at The University of Alabama, with research concentrated on the environmental humanities and speculative literatures of the 20th and 21st centuries, from Surrealism to contemporary science fiction and feminist utopias, in Metropolitan France and the francophone Caribbean, with a book manuscript in progress on posthumanist ecological engagement in the surrealist movement. What if the biggest obstacle to your miracle is the way you think?Transformation is actually possible, but the secret isn't your power it's God's power. Ryan kicks off the year with a powerful message from Proverbs 3 and challenges us to stop leaning on our own understanding and start trusting God's way.
Romans 12:1–5 calls believers to live transformed lives shaped by the gospel. This sermon looks at how God's mercy motivates worship, renews our minds, and produces humility. As a new year begins, may we consider how God is calling us to true transformation, offering our whole selves to God and living sacrificially for his glory and the good of the church. THE AWAKENING OF CHINA'S ECONOMY Colleague Anne Stevenson-Yang, Wild Ride. Returning to China in 1994, the author witnessed a transformation from the destitute, Maoist uniformity of 1985 to a budding export economy. In the earlier era, workers slept on desks and lacked basic goods, but Deng Xiaoping's realization that the state needed hard currency prompted reforms. Deng established Special Economic Zones like Shenzhen to generate foreign capital while attempting to isolate the population from foreign influence, marking the start of China's export boom. Former bank robber Joe Loya reveals how childhood trauma transformed him into a prolific criminal — and how he found his way back. [Part 2 of 2 — catch up with Part 1 here!]Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1265What We Discuss with Joe Loya:Trauma fragments your sense of the future. When Joe kept robbing banks while out on bail, it wasn't recklessness — it was survival mode. Unprocessed trauma keeps you focused only on getting through today, unable to imagine or protect a future that feels impossible anyway.Compassion beats forgiveness as a healing strategy. Instead of bestowing forgiveness from a position of moral superiority, Joe learned to accept his abusive father by understanding his formation — a beaten child who grew into a broken adult. It wasn't personal; any son would have been beaten.Self-examination is scarier than any external threat. A man who fearlessly robbed 30 banks and survived federal prison found confronting his own grief and dismantling his rage infinitely more terrifying than anything the outside world could throw at him.Your survival armor can become your prison. Joe needed his rage and menacing persona to stay safe in prison, yet that same emotional armor prevented him from healing — forcing him to project violence while secretly working on becoming a more sensitive, self-aware person.Transformation begins with telling your story honestly. Writing became Joe's tool for self-investigation — processing grief, rebuilding conscience, and eventually sharing his journey with his daughter and the world. Start documenting your own growth; the act of articulating your past can illuminate your path forward. And much more...
