Thank you all for being here. We're going to begin this meeting with a 2-hour guided meditation period where you can reflect on the best podcast about Massive Attack and the 241st greatest album of all time, Blue Lines. But before we get to the music, we roast an elementary school teacher, celebrate our favorite margaritas, and relive a best man speech. We also venture to a Russian bathhouse and head to Reno to meet Beck Did it Better's #1 fan. (It turns out he doesn't want Rob's kidneys, he just likes podcasts about lists.) Then, at (1:16:00), our partying collective breaks down Massive Attack's debut studio album, Blue Lines. We provide our passionate trip-hop fans another round of unlistenable drivel, chat about the best time to listen to this album, and cover the best Godzilla songs of all time. Next week we'll cool it down to become the best Velvet Underground podcast and discuss their fourth studio album, Loaded. Alright, there's marginal utility in continuing this meeting. Have a great day.

Hello, Kaiju Lovers! This episode marks the final “Godzilla Redux” of season four, and it's a low-key banger! Robert Kelly, who managed to escape capture by the British police after episode 103, returns to discuss his first G-film, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974), and share what Nate says is the most unique take he's ever heard on this film. Namely, Robert says Godzilla is his friend, because Godzilla's monstrousness is a virtue in the vein of G.K. Chesterton. No kidding! But it isn't the only take they discuss—and some are hotter than Big G's nuclear breath! They get into the so-called “alien apes as Americans allegory,” the history and culture of Okinawa as it relates to this film (which is to that island what Lord of the Rings is to New Zealand), and more! King Caesar's ghost! This episode explores the 1954 film Godzilla as both a creature feature and a commentary on humanity post-nuclear disaster. Joined by Nat, Bill, and Levi, we discuss its cultural significance and evolving relevance, reflecting on personal experiences with its emotional themes. We analyze Dr. Serizawa's moral struggles, linking the film to Japan's post-war identity and historical trauma. Highlighting the blend of horror and humor, we invite listeners to connect Godzilla's themes to contemporary issues, showcasing it as a lasting symbol of human fear and resilience.Left of the Projector Linkshttps://www.patreon.com/LeftoftheProjectorPodhttps://boxd.it/5T9O1https://leftoftheprojectorpod.threadless.com/https://leftoftheprojector.comhttps://instagram.com/leftoftheprojectorhttp://tiktok.com/@leftoftheprojectorpodhttps://www.threads.net/@leftoftheprojector

This journey takes them through different timelines, including the 1950s and the aftermath of Godzilla's attack on San Francisco, revealing buried secrets and the impact of epic events on their family. The series also delves into the world of monsters and the ways in which Monarch is threatened by what their father, Lee Shaw, knows." The cool thing is that not only does this universe include Godzilla and King Kong but it gives the fans hope that we can dip our toes into the world of some other monsters with maybe a future movie in the cards if those other monsters gain traction! This episode of the IPS DEPROGRAM, recorded on May 30th, 2025, begins by noting that the date is "just 11 days out from what could be a very interesting day". While acknowledging there's "always a curveball", the speaker refers to the "consistent representation of the destruction of the Space Needle" in conjunction with themes like EMP, blackout, and earthquakes as strongly suggesting potential future events.A central theme discussed is the potential for a **nuke scenario involving water and a coast, specifically Seattle**. This idea ties into symbolism from various media, including the **Kraken** from *Hunt for Red October* and the **Poseidon weapon** from conversations about the Odyssey and the nymph Calypso. The Space Needle is linked to this through a sculpture at its base in *Final Destination* depicting a "massive crab coming out of the water". The speaker notes this "ties it together kind of neatly". **Godzilla is also presented as a metaphor for the nuke**, with the release of the film coinciding with *Oppenheimer*. An EMP event is considered part of this story, potentially originating "from the water". The conversation also touches on a Japanese comic book that allegedly predicted the Fukushima disaster and now points to July for a "major disaster," leading to tourists canceling plans. A participant, Diana Southard, suggests a "tsunami created by a nuked submarine".
Well, if we're doing “Oh No! A Giant Monster!” as a series, there is no way we can ignore the King of Monsters, Godzilla (or Gojira, if you're a purist). Godzilla: seventy years of squashing Tokyo under his belt and he shows no signs of slowing down. But which movie to choose? There are so … Continue reading "Episode 338 – Godzilla: Final Wars (2004)"

That's right folks, interviews are back once again and boy do I have a great one for this episode. The return of Jack LaFountain, our favorite paranormal author, he hasn't been on for a while so I thought it be great to talk to him again. We had a great discussion about his new books coming out for two different series he writes. Being the pop culture nerds we are, we of course had to delve into a discussion of Stephen King, Universal Monster Movies, Godzilla, and other horror classics. There was also a little more talk on the paranormal as well including Bigfoot, Dogmen, and more. Be sure to check out Jack's books and I look forward to when he comes back a third time. The conversation touches on the film's themes, such as the insignificance of personal problems against global threats, and critiques the marketing strategies that may have contributed to its underwhelming box office results. Welcome back to Film Haven Reviews!!! This week we are finishing up our "Middle Age Godzilla" theme with the wacky and futuristic Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991)! This film was totally out there, but at least it owned it. I still gave this film a 7/10 for having too long of exposition and not enough Godzilla, while making up for it by having a cool premise and a great climactic fight scene. In terms of Godzilla movies, this film is more fun than many, but not quite top teir. Tom Hardy is back for one final(?) turn as Venom. How does this film stack up against the prior two? And are these movies just Godzilla movies in disguise?
This week on Drive-In Double Feature, Nathan and Ryan wade into the murky waters of Gorgo (1961), the British kaiju cult classic. Often dubbed the UK's response to Godzilla, this creature feature follows the discovery of a giant sea monster off the coast of Ireland—and the chaos that erupts when greedy circus owners bring it to London. But things take a twist when Mom comes calling… The hosts dig into the film's impressive effects, its surprising emotional core, and how it stands out in the pantheon of rubber-suit monster mayhem.
