Welcome back to Film Haven Reviews!!! This week we are starting a brand new theme of "Middle Aged Godzilla" where we cover Godzilla films from the 80s and early 90s, starting with The Return of Godzilla (1981)!This film was a "return" to form for Godzilla films after the silly direction the franchise went during the 60s and 70s. Despite some predictibly bad human stories, this film had an amazing second half that really showed up! I gave this film a 7.5/10 for bringing moody Godzilla back and doing a good job at honoring the original film while also brining in some new techniques and techonology to update the franchise. For my full written review feel free to follow my instagram: https://www.instagram.com/film_haven_reviews/You can also go to find the video on my NEW youtube page: https://www.youtube.com/@filmhavenreviews

Marusan, Max Toy Japan, Enka Vinyl, Shima-X, M1, and more really had amazing showings at the events - but brands such as Acro and Prime 1 Studio showed that you didn't need to be at one of the big festivals to have a big toy release! And, as always...pickups!

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes.Marvel Studios is apparently very pleased with the positive reviews its latest release Thunderbolts*(AKA The New Avengers) is being showered with, as the director, Jake Schreier, is reportedly the studio's top choice to direct the upcoming X-Men film. Said X-Men film remains untitled, but is in active development with Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes writer, Michael Lesslie, currently writing the script. All of this seems to be in keeping with The Wall Street Journal's recent reports about Feige's 10-year plan for the mutants he shared with colleagues. This week DC treated us to the first official trailer for the sophomore season of HBO's Peacemaker, alongside the announcement that it will premiere August 21. The trailer is jam-packed with gags and characters old and new, with a notable handful of characters from James Gunn's upcoming Superman, like Sean Gunn's Maxwell Lord and Isabella Merced's Hawkgirl, appearing. Elsewhere, Despite wide traveling rumors, James Gunn affirmed that Matt Reeves is still set to direct The Batman 2 with his Threads response “Yes. Huh?” indicating his confusion at the suggestion of anything otherwise. Gunn also teased a new trailer for Superman to hit the internet on Wednesday, conveniently the day after we recorded this episode. It's a tangled web we weave in terms of Spidey news this week, as Amazon's Spider-Man Noir series released a first image of Nic Cage in the title role, followed by what appeared to be an official trailer that was subsequently removed and scrubbed from the internet. On the film side, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has added The Bear star, Liza Colón-Zayas in an undisclosed role.Per a Jeff “The Insneider” Sneider scoop/rumor, the upcoming Vision series starring Paul Bettany will be the last Marvel TV series to feature major characters from the films.During Disney's Up Front presentation, Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter confirmed that she will be returning to the role in the MCU in the second season of Daredevil Born Again.Warner Bros has slated the next Lord of the Rings film, subtitled The Hunt for Gollum, for a December 17, 2027 release. The film, which sees Andy Serkis returning to not only star, but also direct, was announced last summer for a 2026 release originally before being delayed by a year.Author Tess Sharpe will be releasing a young adult novel focusing on Yelena Belova titled White Widow: Secret Sisters. The novel will be released on September 2nd.Warner Bros. and Legendary announced last week that Godzilla x Kong: Supernova is the new title for the forthcoming movie that is set for theatrical release March 26, 2027. A teaser video was also released to mark the start of production on the sixth film in the series.Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts* kept the number one spot on a relatively quiet weekend at the domestic box office, earning $33.1 million for a 10-day North American tally of $128.5 million and $272.2 million globally. Ryan Coogler's hit Sinners crossed the $200 million mark at the domestic box office for a worldwide total of nearly $300 million. In a second victory for Warner Brothers, A Minecraft Movie zoomed past $900 million in global ticket sales and is on track to become the first billion-dollar movie of 2025.Peacock has released a first look image and an official title for the upcoming The Office spin-off series. The series, titled The Paper, will follow a struggling newspaper based out of Toledo, Ohio and is now set to premiere in September.Michael B. Byrd, Tom, Kevin and Trev discuss a trio of tokusatsu superhero films from acclaimed director Takashi Miike (Great Yokai War, Ultraman Max, Audition, Ichi the Killer). First we have 2004's Zebraman, a parody of Japanese superhero shows that sees a father in a mid life crisis take up the mantle of the titular character to fight crime and fend off an alien invasion. We then move onto 2010's gonzo sequel set in a dystopian future where Zebraman must face off against a power hungry pop singer. We cap things off by discussing his 2009 adaptation of the popular anime series Yatterman, about a pair of superheroes and their giant robot dog who thwart the evil plans of the Donboro gang. But first, Byrd reviews the recent official Godzilla Pop Up Book from Simon and Schuster Publishing. Relax and join the discussion!

The Frankenstein Brothers are ready to rumble! In this sorta-kinda sequel to Frankenstein vs. Baragon and the final Japanese/American collab with UPA, gargantuan bros Sanda and Gaira -- one friendly and peace-loving, one violent and hungry -- have a battle to the death, but not before extensive sequences of military fights, people-eating, and a big musical number. We get into this film's underlying darkness, the troubles with lead Russ Tamblyn (of Twin Peaks!), and a strangely empty story for the human characters.Cover Art by: DougPart of The Glitterjaw Queer Podcast CollectiveCover Art Gallery | Patreon | DiscordEmail: skreeonkpodcast@gmail.comTheme song: "BIO WARS - Synth Cover" by Kweer KaijuSources include: A Critical History and Filmography of Toho's Godzilla Series by David KalatIshirō Honda: A Life in Film, from Godzilla to Kurosawa by by Steve Ryfle and Ed GodziszewskiGodzilla FAQ: All That's Left to Know About the King of the Monsters by Brian SolomonYouTube Compilation of UPA Version DifferencesWikizilla

I'm going to share something with you and I'm not trying to brag, but lean in and listen carefully...... The audience......you know the one you thought you could fool and manipulate? Well, they got smarter in the last year and a half. And it's all thanks to tech and the advancements of A.I. Your everyday consumer is on ChatGPT, watches tons of media daily and is woke to your cleverly concocted offers. But here's the bad news for you...... You're going to have to work differently to keep their attention. Engage them better. And provide an irresistable offer no one else (including A.I.) has thought about........ We're doing things a bit differently at Closer Cap and stacking our tech like Godzilla and King Kong. If you're not sure where to go, you've got to start with what you're offering to help people with. Bring your notepad for this one. And get ready to put in some work! You stepped in for Tom Taylor on this annual—can you walk us through how that came about? Was this a story you had to write quickly, or did you have some room to breathe and make it your own? 2. The story kicks off with a classic locked-room mystery—an impossible murder in a high-tech safe room. What drew you to that kind of puzzle, and how did you approach building a detective narrative worthy of Batman?3. There's a moment where Batman's costume subtly shifts from black to blue once he's in London. Is that just a visual cue, or is there something more symbolic going on there?4. What's your take on the annual format? Do you see it as a chance to tell something self-contained and weird, or a pressure cooker to do a lot in a single oversized issue?5. You're working with a trio of incredible artists—Stefano Raffaele, John McCrea, and Fico Ossio. How did you decide who handled which parts of the story, and what did each artist bring to the table stylistically?6. This annual flirts with the idea of Batman not just solving crimes but confronting the nature of reality. How far is too far for Batman, in your mind, when it comes to stories that push past the physical world?7. UK mythology and angels? John Dee's magic - Elizabethan 8. Maybe the most important question of them all, what is Batman's favorite tea and how does he take it?
