If you've ever felt stuck in the cycle of losing weight, regaining it, and then starting over again, you're not alone. Today we're unpacking yo-yo dieting. Why it happens, what it does to your body, and how to finally break free. Yo-yo dieting often starts with extreme calorie restriction, leading to rapid weight loss that looks successful on the surface. But beneath the scale, your body is losing muscle, becoming inflamed, and stressing your hormones. Inevitably, the restrictive approach becomes impossible to maintain, weight creeps back on (often as fat rather than muscle), and the cycle repeats, sometimes with even greater difficulty losing weight each time. We'll dive into the hidden consequences of yo-yo dieting, from slower metabolism and muscle loss to leptin resistance, where your hunger and fullness hormones stop working properly. This not only makes weight loss harder but also increases cravings, fat storage, and frustration while taking a serious toll on mental health. But it's not all bad news. Breaking free from yo-yo dieting is possible by shifting focus from quick fixes to long-term, sustainable habits. We'll talk about the importance of fueling your body, rebuilding metabolic health, and supporting your hormones with balanced nutrition and consistency. You'll also hear about our client Kayla, who went from eating less than 1,300 calories per day without results, to eating hundreds more, feeling better than ever, and finally seeing her body respond. Her story proves that nourishment, not restriction, is the foundation for lasting health. If you're tired of the yo-yo rollercoaster, this episode will give you clarity, encouragement, and practical steps to move toward real, sustainable change. Today we jump back 15 years to two back-to-back episodes of the PWTorch Livecast from Aug. 23 and 24, 2010.On the Aug. 23, 2010 episode, PWTorch assistant editor James Caldwell and co-host PWTorch columnist Greg Parks discussed with live callers how WWE could rebound from Nexus losing momentum, some interesting discussion on how the removal of Darren Young could be flipped due to Young stepping up to take on John Cena and the other Nexus members winning by fluke, whether Darren Young could end up with Cena or with SES on Smackdown from the NXT Season 1 partnership, Alberto Del Rio's Smackdown debut, how long Randy Orton could have a babyface run, a booking plan to stretch out Kane vs. The Undertaker to WrestleMania 27 (much to Parks's chagrin), brief discussion of Strikeforce with Bobby Lashley at the end, and more. Then on the Aug. 24, 2010 episode, PWTorch Livecast with host PWTorch editor Wade Keller and Jason Powell of ProWrestling.net, they took live calls for most of the hour including topics ranging from Bobby Lashley's loss, Paul Heyman's talks with Strikeforce, Starrcade '97's finish to Miz losing to John Cena to Zach Ryder's quick loss to Serena's release and of course venting about TNA.In the previously VIP-exclusive Aftershow, they discussed ideas for TNA to clean up their business approach plus Randy Savage in WWE HOF.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/wade-keller-pro-wrestling-podcast--3076978/support.

PWTorch editor Wade Keller is joined by PWTorch's Chris Adams to review WWE Smackdown including ideas for what could be next for Sami Zayn after winning the U.S. Title and is a WrestleMania World Title match in his future next year? Then a scathing rant by Wade backed by Chris and the chat about John Cena's obvious counter-productive self-centered corporate-centered unrelatable core to his character these days and how just about everything he says that sounds on the surface to be gracious is just self-serving. They also talk some Drew McIntyre-Randy Orton.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/wade-keller-pro-wrestling-post-shows--3275545/support.
Most people track glucose or ketones, but almost no one is measuring the hidden signal that could be silently wrecking your metabolism, brain function, and longevity: uric acid. This episode reveals why this overlooked biomarker drives obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's, and even accelerated aging—and how you can hack it to unlock resilience, human performance, and smarter not harder health upgrades. Watch the podcast on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR We revisit host Dave Asprey sitting down with Dr. David Perlmutter, one of the world's leading functional medicine neurologists and the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Grain Brain and Drop Acid. Dr. Perlmutter has spent decades connecting gut health, brain optimization, and neuroplasticity with lifestyle interventions that truly change the trajectory of disease. In this conversation, he explains how uric acid acts as a metabolic switch that determines whether you burn fat or store it, whether your mitochondria power you up or slow you down, and whether your brain stays sharp or declines with age. They break down how fructose, purines, alcohol, and even dehydration spike uric acid, why Japan is decades ahead in using this as a health marker, and how supplements like quercetin and luteolin rival pharmaceuticals in keeping it under control. You'll also learn how ketosis, fasting, cold therapy, carnivore and plant-based approaches, and sleep optimization all interact with uric acid to shape your healthspan. This is biohacking at its most actionable—because once you measure this signal, you can control it, and once you control it, you radically upgrade your metabolism, your brain, and your longevity. This is essential listening for anyone serious about hacking their biology, building neuroplasticity, powering up mitochondria, exploring nootropics, and discovering smarter not harder ways to live longer and perform better. You'll Learn: • Why uric acid may be the most important overlooked biomarker for longevity • How it connects obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and Alzheimer's • The evolutionary reason your body uses uric acid as a survival signal • How fructose and hidden sugars sabotage metabolism and brain optimization • The role of quercetin, luteolin, and targeted supplements in lowering uric acid • Why measuring at home with a simple device can change your health trajectory • How functional medicine uses uric acid as a predictive tool for chronic disease Dave Asprey is a four-time New York Times bestselling author, founder of Bulletproof Coffee, and the father of biohacking. With over 1,000 interviews and 1 million monthly listeners, The Human Upgrade is the top podcast for people who want to take control of their biology, extend their longevity, and optimize every system in the body and mind. Each episode features cutting-edge insights in health, performance, neuroscience, supplements, nutrition, hacking, emotional intelligence, and conscious living. Episodes are released every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (audio-only) where Dave asks the questions no one else dares, and brings you real tools to become more resilient, aware, and high performing.
