Learn why consistency matters more than perfection, how to listen to your body's signals, and why sleep might be the ultimate biohack. It's time to simplify, take control, and make wellness work for you—without the stress! The Salad With a Side of Fries podcast is hosted by Jenn Trepeck, who discusses wellness and weight loss for real life, clearing up the myths, misinformation, bad science & marketing surrounding our nutrition knowledge and the food industry. Let's dive into wellness and weight loss for real life, including drinking, eating out, and skipping the grocery store. IN THIS EPISODE: (02:44) Don't allow your health plan to stress you; focus on what works for your body and your life(06:19) Limit how many content creators you follow and the truth about protein and fiber(10:31) Clean, lean protein, veggies and fruit, and eating at certain times of the day(15:27) Fasting, the difference between unprocessed and processed foods, and movement(23:40) Listen to your body, stress, sleep and supplements(31:15) Social connection and community are key for longevity(33:08) Sleep is the ultimate biohack for a healthy body(37:02) The quality of a supplement mattersKEY TAKEAWAYS:If your health plan feels overwhelming, it might do more harm than good. Simplify your wellness by focusing on what works for you and limiting the experts you follow to avoid confusion and decision fatigue. Our bodies are wired to respond to stress as a survival mechanism, but modern-day stressors—like emails and phone notifications—trigger the same physiological response as life-threatening situations. This prolonged fight-or-flight state shuts down essential functions like digestion, immune response, and detoxification, contributing to long-term health issues.Simple actions like deep breathing before meals, movement, quality nutrition, fresh air, and social connection can help regulate stress and improve overall well-being. Prioritizing sleep and establishing consistent routines further support mental and physical health.Supplements can be a powerful tool to add on, but they cannot take the place of other healthy lifestyle choices.QUOTES: (07:48) “No expert knows your body better than you do. We teach ourselves not to listen to our bodies, we outsource all of that to the rules, and we follow the rules and ignore the signs and communication coming from our bodies.” Jenn Trepeck(11:45) “The difference between a meal and a snack is how much we have at a time and how long till we might need to eat again.” Jenn Trepeck(21:33) “We've heard sitting is the new smoking. Right? The thing we're doing that we don't realize is slowly killing us because sitting all day is not human.” Jenn Trepeck(27:34) “The physiological response designed to save our lives now contributes to our demise.” Jenn Trepeck(42:54) “Anything we're doing for one part of the body supports everything in the body.” Jenn TrepeckRESOURCES:Become A Member of Salad with a Side of FriesJenn's Free Menu PlanA Salad With a Side of FriesA Salad With A Side Of Fries MerchA Salad With a Side of Fries InstagramTop Five Tips for Digesting Nutrition NewsNutrition Nugget: 30-30-30The Ultimate BiohackSleep On It 60 Second Health Quiz

Are we in the midst of a great awakening of humanity? That's what my guest today, Dr Moshe Daniel Block, believes. But why does that matter? It is because this is a time of hope. As each individual dives deeper into exploring their “I AM”, the spirit that flows within them, and comes to the profound realization that their life can be wondrous and full of abundance and health the power of this collective awakening grows and more and more people will realize there is great power within them to overcome anything, even so called incurable illnesses. Moshe Daniel Block, ND, VDP, HMC, VNMI got his degree of Naturopathic medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (Toronto, Ontario) in 2000 (ND). Dr Block then went on to complete the Homeopathic Master Clinician course with Louis Klein, FSHom, in 2003 (HMC). Dr. Moshe is the author of The Revolution of Naturopathic Medicine: Remaining True to Our Philosophy (2004), a book about the philosophy and practice of naturopathic medicine, and Holistic Counseling – Introducing the Vis Dialogue (2016), a book about the breakthrough healing method uniting the worlds of Mind-Body Medicine & Psychology. Dr. Moshe has deepened and evolved his breakthrough mind-body medicine technique (The Vis Dialogue) over 25 years of practice, helping thousands of patients achieve life-changing results. He began training doctors in 2012 and has since created his full certification program in Holistic Counseling to help practitioners be able to reproduce the amazing results he gets with the Vis Dialogue (VDP).Dr. Moshe has also specialized in helping people with myasthenia gravis in his practice – a rare, progressive, incurable, and potentially fatal auto-immune disease that he personally faced and overcame using the same medicine he now uses and teaches. Everyone experiences different traumas in their life. Often, they become a blockage that keeps our energy from flowing freely. And because the energy is not flowing, we tend to disconnect ourselves from who we should be and how we are inherently built. In this episode, Dr. Kristy Vanacore, an inspiring trailblazer in the field of holistic psychology, sits with Catherine Kontos to share her wisdom on reconnecting with ourselves through a Rewilding Approach. She also shares that she found the profound love she was missing through the retreat, holding hands with others as they collectively healed. Listen to this inspiring conversation as Dr. Kristy lights her lantern toward the path of healing. Love the show? Subscribe, rate, review, and share! https://retreatboss.com/podcast

Listening to someone speak, we tend to notice two things: what they are saying and their characteristics. It is amazing how much information we can learn about someone by listening to their voice - what they are feeling, where they're from, and who they are. The voices we use matter just as much as the words we use. In our voices, we convey meaning and convey our emotions. We can exercise control over our speech, improve effectiveness and do so with confidence when we know how to use our voice properly. Having a powerful message that combines with a strong voice will give us confidence and clarity. Our voices have the power to awaken the senses, convey our message clearly as to why we're here, and lead others to act. And keeping it in check can keep us sounding confident and strong. When was the last time you listened to your own voice? We don't give much thought to our voices - or what we sound like. But when we do, it can feel as if we have no choice but to live with whatever voice we were born with. However, our voices can be improved and built on as we go along. We have Dr. Muluna Fausch joining us on today's show. Her talk will cover how significant your voice is to your branding and how you can make your voice work for you. Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode: Why your voice is your branding – how to gain more clarity in your message and movement How to tap into your Inner Voice for more personal power, influence, and ability to persuade Why your Sovereign voice archetype is the one that leads your company ResourcesThe Influence Alliance — A business-building community for changemakers who want to build a sustainable and scalable business they love. In this podcast, I learned that Dr. Moore is unique in a number of ways, and he shared some of his experiences in hopes that those interested in the field of psychology can apply what he has learned to their own academic and professional journey. Dr. Moore didn't immediately continue working on his education after completing his undergraduate work. Instead, he went on a church mission for two years in Argentina. When he returned, he applied to graduate schools and found that it was competitive, but he was able to attend the University of Arizona where he received his master's degree in Child Development and Family Relations. He then applied to graduate schools again and this time he was accepted into the Industrial Organizational Psychology program at Purdue University where he received his second master's degree. When he applied to doctoral programs, he found a home with Ball State University where he received his PhD in Counseling Psychology. In this podcast, Dr. Daniel T. Moore shares more about his academic and professional journey and discusses where he received most of his practical experience. He also worked in the Military (Navy and Army) as a psychologist and admits this gave him more experience that he could apply to his clients when he opened his own private practice in Petal, MS. “I appeared to be functioning at a very high level. I had all the things that I think are the ‘trimmings' of a successful life, yet my feelings, my emptiness, was so, so pervasive.”Dr. Nicole LePera felt like she lived the perfect life, and yet she felt empty, stuck in the same patterns of behaviour, living on autopilot. Over many years of self-reflection and professional training, she has learned to live more consciously. Consciousness in everything we do, from eating to sleeping, can help us as single parents to heal ourselves and to show up in the best possible way for our children. In this episode of the Frolo podcast, Dr. Nicole LePera talks to Zoë about:● Her own ‘dark night of the soul' - realising that there was something wrong, and beginning the process of change.● The importance of vulnerability as a tool to connect more deeply with others, even (and especially) when it feels like a terrifying thing to do.● How to bridge the gap between insight and action and take the first steps towards change.● How regular ‘check ins' with yourself through the day can help to retrain your brain to a new level of consciousness.● Why we often equate familiarity to safety and how this leads to us repeating the same patterns, especially in relationships.● Conscious parenting and leading through example to create emotional resilience in ourselves and our children. This week Ashley is joined by Natalie Cooper to discuss self-healing. Natalie is the host of the Mind Your Own Life podcast and sheds light on her journey in self-healing, what self-healing is, how we can invest in ourselves and our well-being. In 2013 Natalie was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and two years later began experiencing new and more severe symptoms that led to multiple ER visits as well as brought along intense fear and anxiety. After six months of intensifying chest pain, debilitating vertigo, weakness, numbness, brain fog, gait issues, and finally, vision loss, she was diagnosed with Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis. What felt like the worst day of her life actually turned out to be one of the most transformative as she decided right then and there that she did not want to be sick anymore and made a deal with herself to take full responsibility for her health in a way she never had before. Her diagnosis catapulted into an empowering educational journey about the human body and the inherent and sacred capabilities we have, as humans, to self-heal. Ashley and Natalie discuss a few different definitions of self-healing, Natalie’s path of diagnoses that led her to begin self-healing, why and how we’re manifesting all the time, holistic psychology, the power of our beliefs, talk-therapy, boundaries needed in order to heal, her favorite manifestations, and the modalities she’s used and uses in her self-healing practices. As of 2021, Natalie has been in full remission, without the use of any medication, for over half a decade. Initially, her 'toolkit' was designed for her own personal use, but as she has expanded her knowledge, experimented with different modalities and openly shared her successes, she now formally supports and empowers others on their own healing journeys, through Reiki, Meditation, EFT, Self-Healing Mentorship and more. She truly believes that anyone can self-heal with the right tools and knows firsthand the immense impact that intentional action, mindset work and self-care practices can have on the manifestation process. We all have the power to call in the health, energy, vibrancy and joy we want to feel more of in our lives. Natalie is a certified Reiki Usui Practitioner, Meditation & EFT Instructor, Doula & Childbirth Educator and Self-Healing Mentor. She lives in Canada with her husband, daughter, and Goldendoodle.Learn more:Connect with Natalie: https://mindyourown.life/Follow Natalie on Instagram: @mindyourown.lifeListen to the Mind Your Own Life Podcast: https://mindyourown.life/podcast/Follow along on Instagram: @yogamagicpodcast and @ashleysondergaard.yogaLearn more about Ashley and Yoga Magic at www.ashleysondergaard.comSponsors:Odele | Thanks to our sponsor Odele Beauty. — “The balance is educating yourself in that which is trans-time, which is who we are—who we are as a person, who we are as a soul, who we are as an essential being.” Valeria Teles interviews Dr. Carlos Warter — the author of “Where Are You Running?: 9 Stories from the Heart.” Author, Medical Doctor. Psychiatrist and spiritual teacher. Dr. Warter has won numerous global awards for his work including the Pax Mundi, Award and the UN Peace Messenger Award among others. With 22 books published in six languages and translated into 9 languages, he has dedicated himself to the study of human consciousness and the integration of psychology and spirituality into a non-dualistic paradigm called psycho-synergy. He has been nominated to the Alternative Nobel Right Livelihood Award. His work has helped thousands of people across the globe reach a new understanding of themselves and lead happier, richer and more fulfilling lives. Dr. Warter resides in North San Diego County with his wife Carolina, an early childhood educator who holds a M.A. in Holistic Psychology, is an artist and an apiculturist. He has transformed his residence (PARDES) into a retreat center where he leads seminars and workshops, has a private practice and paints. His embodiment of essential spiritual teachings allows a field of understanding to whoever is open which leads to the awakening of a spiritual path-less PATH. Instead of subscribing to a linear and left brain sequential teaching model, his teaching is based apparently on his Kabbalah and Sufi initiations plus the time he spend with Amazonian teachers partaking of their living traditions as well as having been taught personally by Idries Shah, the Dalai Lama and many others , Dr. Warter has produced a teaching that allows Essence to awaken when students are ready so that all techniques become secondary to a state of being which becomes senior to all philosophies or methods. Dr. Warter, without ever intending it, has been teaching for close to half a century utilizing technologies of the sacred and imbuing them with his spiritual signature. To learn more about Dr. Carlos Warter and his work please visit: https://www.drwarter.com/ — This podcast is a quest for well-being, a quest for a meaningful life to the exploration of fundamental truths, enlightening ideas, insights on physical, mental, and spiritual health. WE DIVE INTO the topic of Holistic Psychology. WE GO DEEP with psychologist Avanti Singh. Avanti OPENS UP about her approach to practicing mind-body-spirit psychology. Avanti is not your average psychologist. She is a Deepak Chopra Meditation teacher and Ayurvedic practitioner who has had a journey dealing with her own health challenges. Her IVF experience was a catalyst for huge transformation and it was after this that she opened up her counselling business in Sydney where she uses not only talking therapy but also breath work , body work, meditation to open up clients so that they connect deeply to themselves, others and to the Spirit. The principles of her practice are based on awareness, connection, transformation, re- creation. We talk in depth about her experience through IVF and how it made her grow and create what she has today. Avanti reminds us that we are birthing things on a daily basis. That we are creative beyond words. That baby making is about creativity. We discuss many things, including the rise of the feminine, the pandemic of disconnection and the power of yoga and solitude. And we can make what we want with them.” --- Cate Stillman “The reason I called my group “Be Rhythm” is - A - I love dancing and music. And B - it's all about attuning to the biorhythms and like the rhythms of the cosmos. And that that is within us and when we get in sync we thrive. We live our best life.” --- Shoshana Koch Guest BIO: I believe healing is a process of unraveling, excavating, and reclaiming our innate nature which is one of love. Through this alchemy, we experience union within ourselves and the world-a fuller integration of being. Mental health is all about awareness, and in this episode, Olivia will show us how to listen to your body and your internal voice. An expert in holistic psychotherapy, she believes that slowing down and being able to sit in our emotions can help to break the patterns of attachment to old stories. Mindfulness might seem difficult for some, but simply by being able to create space and get a little distance from our thoughts, we can start to notice and build awareness about our emotions. “What in your life are you doing already that gives you that feeling where you are calm, you're relaxed, and you really feel at peace” - Olivia “What are these small ways that we can just practice slowing down and getting more in touch with our bodies” - Olivia

Into the Unknown: Stories of Reclamation, Rebirth, and Alchemy
I never knew how useful Instagram would be as a tool to help me heal. But the algorithms they wrote led the way for me to be one of the first people to 'follow' Dr. Nicole LePera on Instagram. Since starting to follow her page over the summer of 2018, it has blown up in popularity and rightfully so. She teaches practical tips on how to heal from mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression, in a holistic way. We are lucky enough to have Dr. Nicole on the show to discuss her unique personal journey from being a Ph.D. candidate medicated on psychiatric drugs herself, to the point where she's at now, running her own holistic psychology practice and medication free. We discuss the chemical imbalance myth, natural ways to heal, and so much more. I blend Western and Eastern philosophy and integrate the mind and body, tailored to your specific needs. My specialty areas include relationship & intimacy issues (including sex therapy), anxiety, depression, stress management, sleep difficulties, trauma & loss, and emotional eating/body image issues. I have created a unique style of psychotherapy called YogaPsych®. This is based on research that the body stores emotions and other experiences, which get stuck within us unless we have a safe way to discharge them from the body. I help facilitate connection and release of these stuck emotions and behavioral patterns through yoga, breathing, meditation and outdoor therapy. Leo Rutherford, co-founder of the Eagle’s Wing College of Shamanic Medicine in England, joins host and shaman, Christina Pratt, for our series of Society of Shamanic Practitioners sponsored interview shows. Joan Halifax opened Leo’s path to shamanism in 1980 while he was studying Holistic Psychology in San Francisco, CA. Since then he has studied with a wide variety of teachers, written several books on shamanism, and co-founded Eagles’ Wing College in 1985. Leo explains that the ultimate purpose of shamanic skills is to help us to see the hidden causal interactions in the non-manifest world that create the manifest world in which we live. Thus we can learn to use these ancient skills to align with our true beliefs and deepest dreams. Join us this week as we welcome one of the elders of shamanism in the UK and explore how contemporary shamans are meeting the challenge of their world where the relations of things—the living and the dead, the humans and nature, and Western Way and the spirit world—are profoundly out of balance. It is the ancient role of the shaman in all cultures to tend the balance of things. How are these shaman meeting this extraordinary need today?
