Budgets have been a HUGE topic. Not only on this show but people are starting to notice the overspending and waste on a lot of movies. We just got a report that the Aco;yte actually cost 230M instead of the 180 that was initially reported. Now The Marvels which was rumored at 280M is not actually reported at 378M? What is happening with the decision making with these films? How is this allowed? Speaking of big budgets, The Joker 2 had a MUCH bigger budget than the first and now the second one although first predicted to have a massive opening is now dwindling because of poor reviews. Can it be saved? This and more on today's show with Kristian, Mike and Steph! #dc #dcu #joker2 #themarvels #disney #mcu #marvel #budgets OUR SPONSORS BILT: http://www.joinbilt.com/BIGTHING LIQUIDIV: GET 20 PERCENT OFF http://www.LiquidIV.com CODE: BIGTHING

In this episode of the SmartMoney Ventures Podcast, Ry Walker tells the story of his entrepreneurial journey from college dropout to Unicorn success in Cincinnati, Ohio. In this episode, you will learn:How to build Unicorn software companies in Cincinnati Ohio. Why the entrepreneur's journey is like mountain climbing, where you value the climb more than the peak itself. How Astronomer & Tembo are commercializing open source platforms and challenging software giants like Oracle and Snowflake. What NBA Legend LeBron James and startup CEOs have in common. Why we learn more from failure than we do from success.Advice for tech entrepreneurs: Visit San Francisco, build confidence, pursue speed. Ry Walker is one of those rare entrepreneurs who sees trends before most other people do. After dropping out of college at the University of Cincinnati, he got hired to build and deliver IBM clone computers and teach people how to use early PC software tools. Then he founded his first company, SharkBytes, building websites in 1995 in downtown Cincinnati. He and his brother went to businesses, unplugged their fax machines and showed people the internet, trying to sell them websites, many times being told to plug the fax machine back in. Failure is part of the process, but getting back up is essential. They built SharkBytes to 30 employees and sold it to a rollup in 1999. He was a paper millionaire at 27 years old, only to watch it go up in flames in the “dot-bomb” of 2000/2001. Fast forward to 2015, when he founded Astronomer, a software company that has raised over $280M of venture capital and is valued at over $1 Billion. He describes Astronomer as a pipeline for data, built on top of Apache Airflow, a Python based open-source workflow management platform. Ry served as CEO for 4 years, CTO for 2 more years, and left to start another company and become an investor. In November of 2022, he founded Tembo, a developer platform built on top of PostGres, an open-source relational database management system. Coming strong out of the gate, he raised a $7 Million dollar seed round led by Venrock with CincyTech, Cintrifuse Capital, Fireroad, Grand Ventures and Wireframe Ventures participating. Ry believes that commercial platforms built on top of open-source software is the future, and is a founding principle for both Astronomer and Tembo. Ry has been recognized as a Cincinnati “Top 40 Under 40” and is an AngelPad alum. He loves nature, science, art, sports, and indie game development. I know that you'll enjoy hearing Ry share his story of entrepreneurship and all the wisdom that he's learned along the way. Enjoy!

Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Updates to the flow of funding in EA movement building post, published by Vaidehi Agarwalla on July 25, 2023 on The Effective Altruism Forum. This is an summary of updates made to my previous post, The flow of funding in EA movement building. Overall Changes Total funding tracked in the data increased to $290M (from $245M). New data is from: Several private donors and Longview Philanthropy who shared (previously non-public) donation & grant recommendation data Global health & wellbeing spending e.g. GiveWell, ACE and some animal orgs (at a discounted rate since these organizations aren't explicitly focused on EA movement building but did contribute to the growth of the EA movement) The inclusion of some longtermist research organizations such as FHI which have helped do field building (also at a discounted rate) Changes to proportions and funding over time During the 2012-2016 period, funding tracked in my data roughly doubled from ~$4M to ~$8.9M (quick estimate) including $4M in funding to GiveWell and $0.5M from other donors. During 2017-2023 period, funding tracked roughly increased from $241 to $281M, from other donors and the inclusion of some cause-area specific organizations that contributed to movement building. The table below summarizes the changes to the proportions of funding coming from different sources: Funder CategoryChange in % New %Original %Other donorsUp ~8% 9.6%1.5%FTX Future FundDown ~3%14.8%17.5%EAIF (non-OP donors), LTFF & Jaan Tallinn (incl. EAIF) OP GH&W: 2.6% OP Other: 5.9% Overall: 63% OP LT: 59.8% (~64.6% w. EAIF) OP GH&W: 2.2% OP Other: 0% Overall: 66% Here's the new % data in a pie chart: What data is still missing? Total funding: I estimate total funding from 2012 to June 2023 is likely $300-350M (medium confidence). I previously estimated $250-280M (significant underestimate). Individual donors: I estimate that $1-20M since 2012 is probably still missing, since I haven't included donors who work with Effective Giving, Generation Pledge or Founders' Pledge. Allocation of cause-specific efforts: You may disagree with the discounting I've done towards different cause-specific projects (in either direction). If you think I'm underweighting those efforts, then you could consider that "missing" data. The most accurate way to do these estimates would be to ask movement building organizations for their annual expenses and to break down the sources of their funding. This information is not publicly available, and some organizations do not publish annual expenses publicly from where you might make initial guesses. I'd encourage organizations to share their numbers to give us a fuller picture of the landscape. Mistakes & reflections I didn't expect this post to be read by as many people as it was. If I'd known this in advance, I think it's likely I would have delayed publication and seeked more external feedback because concrete numbers can be sticky and hard to update people's views on. I noted that this was a preliminary analysis in the opening, but the data may have been seen as more final than it was. In the future I would spend more time hedging numbers and stating ranges of possible values and encourage people to cite those instead of exact numbers. I didn't add enough uncertainty estimates to the numbers throughout the post. For example, I mentioned that the data was incomplete, and provided an estimate on the total amount of funding ($250-280M) - this was a moderately large underestimate (the total new total tracked data now stands at $290M). I missed several sources of global health & wellbeing spending, which significantly increased total spend between 2012-2016. This ...
Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: The flow of funding in EA movement building, published by Vaidehi Agarwalla on June 23, 2023 on The Effective Altruism Forum. This post is part of EA Strategy Fortnight. You can see other Strategy Fortnight posts here. I've been reflecting on the role of funding in the EA movement & community over time. Specifically I wanted to improve common knowledge around funding flows in the EA movement building space. It seems that many people may not be aware of it. Funders (and the main organizations they have supported) have shaped the EA community in many ways - the rate & speed at which EA has grown (example), the people that are attracted and given access to opportunities, and the culture and norms the community embodies and the overall ecosystem. I share some preliminary results from research I've conducted looking at the historical flow of data to movement building sources. I wanted to share what I have so far for the strategy fortnight to get conversation started. I think there is enough information here to understand the general pattern of funding flows. If you want to play around with the data, here is my (raw, messy) spreadsheet. Key observations Overall picture Total funding 2012-2023 by known sources According to known funding sources, approximately $245M have been granted to EA movement building organizations and projects since 2012. I'd estimate the real number is something like $250-280M. The Open Philanthropy EA Community Growth (Longtermism) team (OP LT) has directed ~64% ($159M) of known movement building funding (incl. ~5% or $12M to the EAIF) since 2016. Note that OP launched an EACG program for Global Health and Wellbeing in 2022, which started making grants in 2023. Their budget is significantly smaller (currently ~$10M per year) and they currently prioritize effective giving organizations. The unlabeled dark blue segment is “other donors” Funders of EA Groups from 2015-2022 See discussion below for description of the "CEA - imputed" category. Note that I've primarily estimated paid organizer time, not general groups expenses. EA groups are an important movement building project. The Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA) has had an outsized influence on EA groups for much of the history of the EA movement. Until May 2021, CEA was the primary funder of part- and full-time work on EA groups. In May 2021, CEA narrowed its scope to certain university & city/national groups, and the EA Infrastructure Fund (EAIF) started making grants to non-target groups. In 2022, OP LT took over most university groups funding from both CEA (in April) and EAIF (in August). Until 2021 most of CEA's funding has come from OP LT, so its EA groups funding can be seen as an OP LT regrant. Breakdown of funding by source and time (known sources) 2012-2016 Before 2016, there was very limited funding available for meta projects and almost no support from institutional funders. Most organizations active during this period were funded by individual earning-to-givers and major donors or volunteer-run. Here's a view of funding from 2012-2016: No donations from Jaan Tallinn during this period were via SFF as it didn't exist yet. There is a $10K donation from OP to a UC Berkeley group in 2015 that is not visible in the main chart. “Other donors” includes mostly individual donors and some small foundations Quick details on active funders during this period: Individual Donors: A number of (U)HNW & earning-to-give donors, many of whom are still active today, such as Jaan Tallinn, Luke Ding, Matt Wage and Jeff Kaufman & Julia Wise. I expect I'm missing somewhere between ~$100,000 to $1,000,000 of donations from individuals in this chart per year from 2012 to 2016. This post is part of EA Strategy Fortnight. You can see other Strategy Fortnight posts here.I've been reflecting on the role of funding in the EA movement & community over time. If you want to play around with the data, here is my (raw, messy) spreadsheet.Key observations Total funding 2012-2013 by known sourcesAccording to known funding sources, approximately $245M have been granted to EA movement building organizations and projects since 2012. The unlabeled dark blue segment is “other donors”Funders of EA Groups from 2015-2022 See discussion below for description of the "CEA - imputed" category. Plot:In the late 19th century, the demonic troll Trantor transforms children into wooden dolls to feast upon their energy in Briarville, Missouri. The townsfolk capture him and seal him under an oak tree, with Phineas Worrell, one of the village elders and an ancestor of Ernest P. Worrell, establishing the seal. Trantor vengefully places a curse on the Worrell family, stating that he can only be released on the night before Halloween by a Worrell. As part of the curse, every generation of Worrells will get "dumber and dumber and dumber", until the dumbest member of the family is foolish enough to release him from his earthly prison. One hundred years later, Ernest, a sanitation worker, helps a few of his middle school friends, Kenny Binder, Elizabeth and Joey, construct a treehouse in the same tree that unknowingly contains the dormant creature, after the mayor's sons demolished their own cardboard haunted house. When Old Lady Hackmore discovers this, she angrily leaves. Following her, Ernest learns the story of Trantor and idiotically reports it to the kids. Inadvertently, Ernest releases the troll. Joey is walking home from the treehouse when he hears something rustling through the trees. Joey slowly walks and slips down in a muddy hole. Trantor grabs Joey's wrist and turns him into a wooden doll. Ernest finds Kenny's dad, Sheriff Cliff Binder, and explains the situation but Binder does not believe him. After none of the townsfolk will assist Ernest because of the upcoming Halloween party, he mounts a one-man (and one-dog) defense operation in preparation for Trantor's appearance. Meanwhile, Trantor captures a boy on a skateboard as his second victim. Tom and Bobby Tulip, hoping to exploit Ernest, sell him various fake troll traps, but one backfires on the mayor's sons and Ernest loses his job. Ernest, Kenny and Elizabeth return to Hackmore, where they learn that only "the heart of a child, and a mother's care" can defeat the troll. Later that night, Trantor claims Elizabeth as his third victim as he sneaks into her house while she is resting on her bed. While Kenny and his friend Gregg are walking, Trantor uses Elizabeth's voice to lure Kenny away, then takes Gregg as a fourth victim. Despite parents being upset at their missing children, Mayor Murdock and Sheriff Binder still proceed with a Halloween party at the school, believing the missing children will be there. Trantor appears there and takes the mayor's oldest son as his fifth and final wooden doll. In the ensuing fight between Trantor and Ernest, Trantor turns Ernest's dog Rimshot into a wooden doll before being repelled by soft-serve ice cream on Ernest's hands. Kenny realizes that "mother's care" refers to milk and rallies a troll-fighting team to destroy them. Back at the treehouse, Trantor successfully summons his army of trolls while Ernest unsuccessfully tries to stop them. The townspeople show up, only for the trolls to overwhelm and beat them up. Kenny and his friends arrive and begin destroying the trolls with milk. During the fight, Trantor escapes beneath the tree where he summons the powers of the underworld, making him invincible, especially to milk. Enraged, Kenny unsuccessfully tries to destroy Trantor, who also turns Kenny into a doll. With the other townsfolk now backing him up and telling him to douse Trantor in milk, Ernest realizes that milk weakened the troll children, while unconditional love ("the heart of a child") would weaken Trantor himself. He takes Trantor and dances with him while the mob watches, overloading him with love, and finally kisses his snot-ridden nose, causing Trantor to explode. With Trantor's destruction, Ernest is proclaimed a hero. All of the wooden dolls are restored, including those from the early 19th century, and life returns to normal. Sheriff Binder apologizes to his son for doubting him and Ernest. Ernest is happy that his dog is also back to normal. TOP 5The pizzas seen being thrown at the bullies who try to attack the kids' tree house are re-used props from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991). Both movies had the same prop master, Doug White. The Chiodo Brothers are credited with special effects for this film, who also made Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988). Look for trolls in the finale that resemble Klowns, as well as the same spinning death effect. The Chiodos actually didn't save any of the original Klown molds. Though they may have used some ears molds. John Cherry's troll designs just happened to look a lot like the Klowns. In the opening credits (specifically around the 00:01:16 mark), there is a quick flash of a random man. He is Robert Hill, Jr., one of the grips. His son was in the film as a child extra. In the original script for "Ernest Scared Stupid", the villain wasn't a troll, it was actually a haunted statue. The original script had a lot of the flavor of "Scared Stupid" though. But there were no trolls; there was one statue that came to life - it was some terrible person who came back from the dead. John Cherry and Coke Sams went to Disney with that script. They both felt that it was the best thing they've ever written and that they knew what Disney wanted. But, Disney read it and their exact response was, "What were you guys smoking when you wrote this?" They added, "We want a haunted tree house." So John and Coke dismembered anything they could salvage from the original "Scared Stupid" script and cranked it into the next one.Creature effects creator Charles Chiodo designed "Trantor" the troll using fourteen motors to operate various facial features. His teeth were fabricated from dental acrylic, his skin was "baked foam," and each eyebrow hair was inserted individually. The trolls were designed with two noses that dripped synthetic mucus, concocted from methyl cellulose, personal lubricant, and an unnamed "vegetable agent" that caused it to spoil quickly. A thicker version of the substance was used as troll saliva. **TRIPLE LINDY AWARD** **REVIEW AND RATING**TreyChris 4Stephen 4.5Tucker 4.5 TOP 5Stephen:1 Breakfast club2 T23 Sandlot4 Color out of space5 Mail order brides Chris:1. sandlots2. Rafi Farber - Physical #Gold Leaving #Comex at All Time Record Pace Last week we saw how 280 million ounces of physical silver have been drained from London and Comex combined since #SilverSqueeze. Well, it turns out that the SilverSqueeze movement is affecting more than just silver. Over 10 million ounces (!) of physical gold have left the Comex vaults since SilverSqueeze began. At today's gold to silver ratio, 10M OZ gold is about 874M OZ equivalent silver. Combine that with the 280M of actual silver drained already, and we have already broken the 1 billion ounces threshold. Yes, we've got more work to do, but this accomplishment must not be minimized. In Episode 87 we speak with Danny Guerrero, Founder, The Culturist Group (TCG). His accomplishments are astounding and driving change. In this episode we hear Danny's meaningful travel stories from his first international trip to Korea, his experience interning for San Diego Tourism Board and the special trip to Paris with his mom. Also sharing about the work his doing now and how it all began. It was Danny's connection and commitment to local communities throughout his twenty plus years in travel marketing that inspired him to launch his own company, The Culturist Group (TCG). TCG is a 100% minority-owned travel marketing company. As a thought leader for multicultural and diversity in travel Danny has been an active proponent of culture-forward thinking for travel brands and destinations as a means to help increase equity and inclusion in the travel industry. TCG was established at a time when shifting cultural identities and the need for more diversity, equity and inclusion in the travel industry finally became a priority. TCG believes that the travel industry and the brands, and destinations that participate in it can be a force for good. CULTURIST as a concept and consultancy practice, bridges cultural values with multicultural travel strategies to support clients to sustain better connections who consider where and with whom they travel as an extension of who they are. As social justice and diversity in travel became transparent during the uprising of Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, many travel brands struggled to find ways to bridge and connect with multicultural and underrepresented markets. Beginning in 2018 Danny forward thinking advocated for and led the delivery of key programs for destinations and far-reaching industry research on emerging and underrepresented travelers. Danny championed industry-wide groundbreaking research supporting prolific travel brands such as Hilton, Choice Hotels International, Tripadvisor, NYC & Company, Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board on Black and Hispanic travelers, revealing these two segments alone representing nearly 30% of all U.S. travel spend, reaching in excess of $280M annually. His work has led to the bestowing of grants and funds to Black and diversity in travel organizations in excess of $100,000 to empower underrepresented voices in the travel marketing. He has been at the helm of multiple award-winning brand marketing and communications programs for destinations, hospitality and travel brands on nearly every continent. Prior to founding The Culturist Group, he spent a decade of his career building and leading agency teams at two well-respected firms, MMGY Global and DCI. Prior to spent a decade in destination marketing with in house roles for hotel management and tour operators. His career portfolio includes research and public relations leadership for Visit California, Viceroy Hotel Group, Hilton, Sensei Retreats, Fiji Airways, Tourism Chile, The Travel Corporation, Visit West Hollywood, Los Cabos Tourism, Sonoma County Tourism, Destination Cleveland to name a few. Danny is a frequent guest speaker at travel and tourism conferences advocating for underrepresented travelers and illuminating how shifting demographics, travel sentiment and culture represent opportunities for the travel industry. Dedicated to advocating underrepresented travelers and promoting travel for diverse youth and volunteers with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, INROADS (and Mrs. Obando's 8th grade class). Danny graduated with a B.A. in Political Science and Marketing from the University of California, Riverside with Chancellor's Honors. He is an Executive MBA Candidate at the UCLA Anderson School of Management (Class of 2024), where he was awarded a Dean's Fellowship. Early in his career Danny served as an intern for President Bill Clinton serving in the White House Visitors Office and was a career intern at the San Diego Tourism Authority. He is a recipient of the ‘Outstanding Contribution Award' granted by the World Travel and Tourism Council for his work advancing diversity and equity in the industry in 2021, and the Chairman's Award granted by the National Association of Black Meeting Professionals. Danny and his husband Jaime reside in Los Angeles, California.

1. Updates From Snapchat’s Partner Summit - Snapchat has shared that they reached 280M daily users and over 500M monthly active users globally. Other features they have announced include Creator Marketplace, where businesses will be able to find and partner with Snap creators, and Public Profiles, which will help users get discovered organically, engage with customers, build a following, sell products, and manage their profile - all in one place.2. Facebook Explains “What’s Allowed” & Community Standards Enforcement Report (CSER) - People often wonder what content is allowed on Facebook’s platforms. Well, it all starts with their Community Standards, which outline what is and isn’t allowed on Facebook and Instagram. Community Standards cover over 20 distinct topic areas that span everything from violence and criminal behavior to safety, integrity and authenticity to objectionable content. To enforce these policies, they use a combination of content reviewers and artificial intelligence. When they find harmful posts on Facebook and Instagram, they take a zero tolerance approach and remove them. But zero tolerance doesn’t mean zero occurrence. And they published their Community Standards Enforcement Report for the first quarter of 2021. In the report, Facebook shares that they have seen a decrease in the prevalence of bad content; improvement in the amount of hate speech on the platform. They have also introduced their new Transparency Center which will provide many resources of integrity and transparency efforts to its users. Guy Rosen, who is the vice president of integrity at the tech giant, shared that they are working towards having a secure platform and they have implemented 12 policies for Facebook and 10 for Instagram, to let everyone know they are enforcing policies. https://www.facebook.com/business/news/facebook-content-policies-commitment-to-safety# 3. How Does Facebook’s Ad System Work? - A new overview has been published with additional context that can help you understand any errors or missteps that you may have experienced. They require advertisers to follow their Advertising Policies in addition to their Community Standards. Their Community Standards guide what is and isn’t allowed on Facebook and apply to all types of content, including ads.Their Advertising Policies place additional requirements on advertisers in order to help further protect people from poor experiences — especially because ads may be delivered to people in their News Feed from Pages or accounts they don’t follow. For example, they don't want ads that use profanity, show excessive nudity or include misinformation. The system reviews all ads before they are released. It relies primarily on automated technology to apply the Advertising Policies to the millions of ads that run across the apps. They also rely on their teams to build and train these systems, and something to manually review ads. However, the platform has admitted that their enforcement isn’t perfect, and both machines and people make mistakes sometimes. https://www.facebook.com/business/news/facebook-ad-policy-process-and-review# 4. Say Hello To “Live Shopping Friday” By Facebook - The session has just been introduced now and it will run until July 16. It is a way for shoppers to discover the best products for them, and for brands to build relationships with customers. These streams will be available via the brand’s Facebook page or the social network’s Shop page. Viewers could also complete the checkout process without leaving the app, by tapping on the features products. https://about.fb.com/news/2021/05/introducing-your-new-favorite-way-to-shop-live-shopping-fridays/ 5. Instagram Has Planned Their First Creator Week - "The first-ever Instagram Creator Week will run June 8-10, with a series of virtual streaming sessions. Those will be accessible by invitation only, with about 5,000 creators from the U.S. expected to attend. The three-day event will include sessions like 'How to Supercharge Your Community', 'Media Training 101', 'How to Break Into Entertainment', 'How to Start a Podcast', 'How to Get Discovered on Instagram', and 'Fund My Merch Line', in which creators will be able to pitch their dream product idea to a panel of judges - and the winners will get their ideas funded. Sessions will also address burnout and algorithm myth-busting. In addition to all of this, there will also be surprise special guest appearances and product news announced during the week."While Creator Week is invite only, Instagram will make a portion of the content from the sessions available publicly on the instagram.com/creators account (4.5 million followers), including in a daily recap series called “The Rundown.” 6. Pinterest Launches Idea Pins & Shares How It Handles 5B+ Searches Per Month - After testing their Idea Pins for the past 8 months, Pinterest has finally launched the feature. It will allow creators to capture and edit innovative videos of up to 20 sections of content, utilizing resources like voiceover recording, sound effects, animations, and other creative features, very much like their own TikTok mashup of Stories. "There are now more than 5 billion searches on Pinterest every month. As people prepare for a post-pandemic life, searches for outfits, vacations, and home renovations are at all-time highs, and searches for weddings have presumed pre-pandemic levels."That's a lot of search activity - for context, Pinterest last, officially reported its total search volume in 2016, when it was facilitating 2 billion searches every month. That means Pinterest has increased its search volume by 150% over the last five years - which, given the pandemic, and the subsequent boost for eCommerce and online product discovery, is not overly surprising. But it does provide some additional context on Pinterest's user traffic, with the majority of these searches (if not all) for products that people are looking to buy.7. Twitter Adds Scheduling for Spaces And Relaunches Verification - Bringing back the blue badge features is a great way to help people distinguish the authenticity of high public interest accounts. In Twitter’s research, that has shown to lead to healthier, more informed conversations between people. Moreover, broadcasters on Twitter will now be able to plan out, and build hype around their upcoming events, with the addition of Spaces scheduling on the platform.8. Google Expands The Way Customers Can Shop: Shopify Integration And Shopping Graph - First off, Google has announced that it's expanding its partnership with Shopify, which will provide new, simplified processes to enable Shopify’s 1.7 million merchants to get their products featured across Google "in just a few clicks"."This new collaboration with Shopify will enable merchants to become discoverable to high-intent consumers across Google Search, Shopping, YouTube, Google Images and more."Google says that it's seen a 70% increase in the size of its product catalog, and an 80% increase in merchants on its platform, over the past year. That was most notably boosted by Google eliminating all charges for Google Shopping product listings last April, in order to assist retailers looking to shift their focus amid the pandemic. And now, Google's looking to push that further with the evolution of what it calls its 'Shopping Graph'. "The Shopping Graph is a dynamic, AI-enhanced model that understands a constantly-changing set of products, sellers, brands, reviews and most importantly, the product information and inventory data we receive from brands and retailers directly - as well as how those attributes relate to one another. With people shopping across Google more than a billion times a day, the Shopping Graph makes those sessions more helpful by connecting people with over 24 billion listings from millions of merchants across the web. It works in real-time so people can discover and shop for products that are available right now."9. 4 New Features In Google Ads - Top signals for target ROAS and maximize conversion value; seasonality adjustments that can be made at the manager account level; recommendations for max conversions, and Target Impression Share simulators for performance predictions. https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/10715180

How can you give your content another chance at success? You can't predict what might happen when you first publish your content. It could bomb (sometimes that's just how it goes) or it could launch you to viral fame…or anything in between. Repurposing is a fantastic way to give your less successful content another chance. Sometimes all it takes is a fresh pair of eyes…or ears. In this episode, part of our new "It Started With Content" series, I reveal how Jamie Morton repurposed his dad's unknown ebook into one of the biggest podcasts in the world, "My Dad Wrote A Porno." Today's guest is Chris Grenzig. Chris started his real estate investing journey in Jan of 2016 by trying to flip houses on Long Island NY, but ultimately failed to flip a single house despite spending tens of thousands of dollars and several months trying. Chris and his team tried pivoting to purchasing tax deed properties in Philadelphia, but quickly realized it wasn't for them. From there Chris started to learn about multifamily and started by investing passively in an 8-unit property, then Joint Venturing on another 100 units worth over $4.5 mil. From there Chris quit his full-time job in finance and joined the Toro team full time in Aug 2016. Chris focuses on managing, sourcing, evaluating, and acquiring new assets for Toro's Multifamily Portfolio and is the primary person running the Florida region of Toro's portfolio. Toro has acquired over 4,500 units worth over $280 mil. Before Toro, Chris worked in finance at small boutique firm. He graduated Hofstra with a degree in Business and played D1 soccer. Millán Ludeña, a normal guy with a big dream, embarks on an adventure to do something that no other human being on the planet has done and to register a Guinness World Record ®in its process. We live each moment of Millán’s adventure starting from the intense logistical planning to the physical and mental challenges that he faces throughout this incredible journey of connecting the two most extreme points on the planet. He plans to do this by running a half marathon inside the deepest part of the world, the Mponeng Mine (3,563M below the earth’s surface) in South Africa and then traveling back to his home country to run a half marathon towards the closest point to the sun on the planet, the peak of Mt.Chimborazo (6,280M). The plan is to do all of this in less than 80 hours.
An interesting blend of films and guests this week on BEHIND THE LENS as we talk with athlete MILLAN LUDENA, producer JEFF BRAND, writer/director/editor ESME VON HOFFMAN, and hear some more of our exclusive with writer/director GUY NATTIV on SKIN. After the tragic events of the weekend with two more mass shootings in the United States, we shuffled up the show in order to bring you some more of our exclusive interview with SKIN writer/director, GUY NATTIV. With every passing day, we are reminded in some heinous fashion or other of the long-simmering violence and hatred stemming from racism and white supremacism across this country and beyond. No longer something "hidden" or not discussed, these issues are at the forefront of the conversation in today's world. And that is what makes Guy Nattiv's SKIN the most timely and topical film in America right now. We've been talking about SKIN for several weeks and you heard our full interview with JAMIE BELL who plays former white supremacist Bryon Widner several weeks ago. In telling Widner's story, Nattiv takes us into the world of a tight-knit supremacist group and into the mindse of Widner, who gave full access and rights to his story to Nattiv. What makes SKIN so powerful is not only its authenticity and truth, but that Bryon Widner saw the error of the ways of white supremacy and chose to leave. In today's interview excerpts, listen as Nattiv talks about writing the script and some of the challenges he faced, as well as designing the visual tone of the film and shooting some large set pieces, including staging the Neo-Nazi rally which opens the film. Then we switch gears and take a look at a triumphant story with the documentary, FROM CORE TO SUN, as athlete MILLAN LUDENA and producer JEFF BRAND join us live from Ecuador. (Pardon us, but because of the phone logistics, our connection is not the best during this interview.) FROM CORE TO THE SUN chronicles Millan's journey to become a Guinness World Record holder as he attempts to run a half marathon inside the deepest part of the world, the Mponeng Mine (3,563M below the earth's surface) in South Africa and then traveling back to his home country of Ecuador to run a half marathon towards the closest point to the sun on the planet, the peak of Mt. Chimborazo (6,280M). While Millan gives some insight into his experience and thoughts, particularly interesting is the input from Jeff who talks about some of the logistic shooting challenges in the severest conditions on earth, as well as dealing and complying with the Guinness organization. Plus, find out how you can enter to win an incredible trip associated with the film! Rounding out the show we shift gears with a cross between Ancient Rome and modern-day Detroit with writer/director/editor ESME VON HOFFMAN who is live talking about her directorial debut film, OVID AND THE ART OF LOVE. An original and entertaining film, listen as Esme talks about the renowned Roman poet Ovid as her inspiration for the film and her journey leading to the film's world premiere on August 10th, from ancient Roman hair and costume design to the Detroit locations and utilization of public art spaces, to a blend of oration and slam poetry, to casting talent like Corbin Bleu and John Savage, to a telling use of color, lensing and lighting. Plus, the timeless sociopolitical similarities between 31BCE and the rule of Emperor Augustus, and the 21st century and the current state of affairs. http://behindthelensonline.net http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com

I'd like to thank Adelle Archer ( https://theconsumervc.com/2020/05/11/adelle-archer/ ) for introducing me to today's guest Dan Graham ( https://springdaleventures.com/team-bios.html ) , one of the co-founders and General partners of Springdale Ventures ( https://springdaleventures.com/ ). Some of their investments include Eterneva, Literati, and Beatbox beverages. Previously, Dan co-founded BuildASign.com ( http://buildasign.com/ ) in 2005 and grew it to an over $100 million dollar CPG, Ecommerce business that was purchased by Cimpress (VistaPrint) in 2018 for $280M. This episode we talk all things Austin and CPG - the opportunity he saw to form Spingdale, why he didn't need to fundraise when building Buildasign.com ( http://buildasign.com ) and how he thinks about brand in relation to ecommerce and retail. If you're enjoying the show, if you could leave a review on the apple podcast app as that helps other folks find it, that would be really helpful.
