Every January, thousands of folks set health and weight loss goals and ultimately fail. This is because most people rely on tactics like restrictive diets, trying to harness willpower, and shame-based goals. But our brains and bodies are smart, and if we want to cultivate real, sustainable changes, we have to operate in a way that works with our brains' innate operating system.  On today's show, you're going to hear from Dr. Jud Brewer, an internationally renowned addiction psychiatrist and neuroscientist. His new book, The Hunger Habit, dives into the science behind overeating, food cravings, and how to train our brains to create healthier habits that actually last. This interview contains insightful conversations on willpower and self-judgment, the powerful role of curiosity and awareness for creating lasting change, and the proven neuroscience behind why diets don't work. If you've ever wanted to change your eating habits on any level, I know you're going to love Dr. Jud's outlook. Enjoy!  In this episode you'll discover: The truth about willpower.  How the prefrontal cortex operates.  The three elements needed to cement a habit.  How language impacts our experiences.  Why judgement can inhibit the learning process.  How to use curiosity to create healthier habits.  Why diets don't work, according to science. The only way to change a habit.  Why awareness can aid in smoking cessation. How to leverage your brain's reward value equations.  Why curiosity is a superpower.  How to map out the habit loop around your eating patterns. The difference between homeostatic hunger and hedonic hunger. What the pleasure plateau is.  The true definition of addiction.  What BBO is.  How to harness awareness and release self-judgment to create change.  Items mentioned in this episode include: Organifi.com/Model - Use the coupon code MODEL for 20% off + free shipping! This episode is brought to you by Organifi. our nutrition does play a huge part in our drive towards what foods we're choosing and our drive towards hunger and cravings, and in particular, our cravings for hyper-palatable ultra processed foods. Now, a specific nutrient has been well documented to help our biology to make changes that make those foods less attractive. Now, this was published in the peer-reviewed journal, Appetite in 2014. And the researchers uncovered that chlorophyll, the green kind of lifeblood of plants, chlorophyll can aid in weight loss and reduce the urge to eat hyper-palatable foods. Now, what is the densest, most bioavailable source of chlorophyll that you're gonna find? Well, that's gonna be found in a food that actually got its name from its chlorophyll content, and this food is called chlorella. Also, in a double blind placebo-controlled study published in clinical and experimental hypertension, these researchers found that chlorella was able to normalize blood pressure of test subjects with diagnosed hypertension. This is serious business. Chlorella has been utilized for thousands of years, and again, it got its name due to its high chlorophyll content. And there are mountains of studies affirming how remarkable it is for human health. And in addition to chlorella, I love chlorella, but when it's combined with spirulina, it's familial algae. I like to think of this in terms of the fast and furious family. I don't get algae, I got a family. If you think about this combination, spirulina is the most protein-dense food ever discovered. It's about 71% protein by weight, and it's one of the most dense sources of chlorophyll as well, but also a rare compound called phycocyanin, which is well-established to stimulate stem cell activity in the human body. That's crazy. All It stimulates something called stem cell genesis, the creation and mobilization of stem cells. What other foods do you know can do things like that? Alright? Ultra-processed foods definitely can't do that. Honey Nut Cheerios, definitely can't do that. Pop-tarts definitely can't do that. Stem cells become effectively any cell that we really need to regenerate our tissues. And this combination, chlorella, spirulina, ashwagandha, and several other organic superfoods is all in the Organifi Green Juice blend. Go to organifi.com/model right now and you're gonna get 20% off their award-winning green juice blend. Get all the benefits of chlorella, spirulina, ashwagandha and more. Go to organifi.com/model. That's O-R-G-A-N-I-F-I.com/model for 20% off store-wide. Take advantage. This is a staple in my family's home. It's been like that for many, many years. Organifi Green Juice is amazing.   This episode is brought to you by HVMN. I wanna share something with you that has been fueling my workouts recently. Numerous studies, including a study published by the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, aka the FASEB journal, have found that exogenous ketones can be up to 28% more efficient in generating energy than glucose alone. And because of this, something that, listen, there are so many different supplements that are out there on the market. Very few things do you experience a change on the first day. Now, this isn't true for everybody, but for me, this was the case. I was shocked. I actually took time stepping away from everything else that I was doing as far as supplementation around training, gave myself a break, and then did this with a lot of focus and intention to see, hey, what are the kind of results that I could see by utilizing Ketone IQ? And I was really just blown away. My stamina was significantly increased, but more so, my recovery afterwards. It was really impressive. I just felt like I could do so much more than I normally do. And I'm somebody who really prides myself on being a high performer and being able to really challenge my limits and do exceptional things. And so to do what I was typically doing and didn't have energy left in the tank, I was just like, wow, this is something special. I need to tell more people about this. How we incorporate these experiences into our lives…how we choose to react, behave, engage with others…is up to us. Michael “Tate” Barkley allowed those factors - in particular, his relationship with his father - to lead him down a path of self-destruction, shame, guilt, and regret. But with time, comes experience, perspective, self-reflection, and the opportunity to change and evolve to a greater version of ourselves. You're listening to Artbeat Radio, a program of Able ARTS Work.  ALL: Welcome to CECA's Star Club. Jenny: With ArtBeat Radio.  Halloween music intro starts with Jesus' scary laugh.    Mollie: Based on that spooky soundtrack, can you guess what holiday is coming up on October 31st? Jenny & PJ: It's Halloween! Mollie: It's Halloween! Exactly.     Halloween piece composed by Drea on acoustic guitar, keyboard, and Soundtrap loops plays.   Mollie: Today, our experts will tell you how to throw the best Halloween party you've ever been to.   PJ: Now there's a few things you'll need.   Jenny & PJ: Venue, guest list, decorations, activities, food, DJ.  Jenny: Let's get into it! Firstly, you need a venue with enough space to move around. For our example, we will be hypothetically throwing the best party ever right here at CECA.   Mollie: So, what are some good recommendations for a venue, DJ PJ?  PJ: Burgers and burritos.  Mollie: A venue? Not a menu, a venue! Laughs. Why you! So for a venue, do you think maybe a house?  PJ: Yes.   Mollie: A family member's house?  PJ: Yes.   Mollie: A park?  Organ music begins played in a minor key.   PJ: Yes.   Mollie: A bowling alley?  PJ: No.   Mollie: Oh, okay, what about the beach?  PJ: No.  Mollie: Not the beach either?  PJ: No.   Mollie: Okay, so just a house or a park.   PJ: Yeah.   Mollie: Alright. You heard it here first, folks. A house or a park is the ideal venue.   Mollie: Now who to invite? HOW to invite them? Call your friends and family!  PJ: Send out invitations to all the programs: EPI, San Diego, Art Center, and Long Beach. Maybe send out secret invisible invitations!  Jenny: The place has to look FANTASTIC if you are inviting all your favorite people! We would suggest your Halloween party has…  Jenny: …Halloween lights,   PJ: …a spooky graveyard,   PJ: 5 spiders, spider webs,   Jenny & PJ: orange and black streamers,   Jenny: …2 eye balls,  PJ: 4 monsters, and a   Jenny & PJ: …fog machine.  Jenny: Every good party needs some action! That's why at CECA, we would have a costume contest, pumpkin carving, dance party, a haunted house, and spooky movie showings!   Jenny & PJ: Try to guess these famous films by the popular song. We would watch films like…  Theme song sequence plays. Everyone at CECA played their part.   Jenny: The Addams Family  ALL:  Day-o, day-o,  daylight comes and I wanna go home.  Day-isa-day-isa-day-isa-day-isa-day-isa-day-o.  Daylight come and I wanna go home  Jenny: Beetlejuice  ALL:  When there's something strange  in the neighborhood Who you gonna call?  Ghostbusters! If there's something weird,  and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Ghostbusters?  Jenny: Ghostbusters  ALL:  I put a spell on you And now you're mine You can't stop the things I do I ain't lying  It's been three hundred years Right down to the day Now the witch is back And there's hell to pay  I put a spell on you And now you're mine!  I put a spell on you And now you're gone Gone, gone, gone so long   My whammy fell on you And it was strong So strong, so strong, so strong!  Your wretched little lives Have all been cursed 'Cause of all the witches working I'm the worst  I put a spell on you And now you're mine  I put a spell on you And now you're mine  Jenny: Hocus Pocus  Jenny: It sounds like the place is decked out! Won't people get hungry doing so much fun stuff?  Organ music plays in a minor key.  JQ: Oh yes!  PJ: We recommend serving…   Jenny: Eyeball cupcakes, chocolate dirt cups with gummy worms, spooky punch with Hawaiian punch, eyeballs, gummy worms, gummy brains, dry ice, and 5 gummy ghosts in a witch's cauldron.  Mollie : Wow, that sounds like the deliciousness of that food would only be enhanced by creepy music! Be sure to secure a DJ to create the perfect frightening atmosphere. For our party, we would hire DJ PJ and DJ Michael.   Intro to CECA's rendition of “Thriller” by Michael Jackson plays.   Jenny: This is our rendition of “Thriller” by Michael Jackson.  CECA's rendition of “Thriller” by Michael Jackson continues to play.   ALL:  It's close to midnight Something evil's lurking in the dark Under the moonlight You see a sight that almost stops your heart You try to scream But terror takes the sound before you make it You start to freeze As horror looks you right between the eyes You're paralyzed  'Cause this is thriller, thriller night And no one's gonna save you From the beast about to strike You know it's thriller, thriller night You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller, ow  You hear the door slam And realize there's nowhere left to run You feel the cold hand And wonder if you'll ever see the sun You close your eyes And hope that this is just imagination (Girl) But all the while You hear a creature creepin' up behind You're out of time  'Cause this is thriller, thriller night And no one's gonna save you From the beast about to strike You know it's thriller, thriller night You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller, ow  Halloween music with organ and sounds of dogs barking and cats purring plays.  Mollie: Now not everything has to be in theme with Halloween. Our resident DJs recommend any music that gets people up and dancing! They prefer rap music like…  PJ: Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Biggie, and Wiz Khalifa…  Mollie: and Latin music like…  PJ: Selena, Ricky Martin, and banda music. It is important to note the Cha Cha slide and Cupid shuffle are undeniable American classics.    Lines from “Cha Cha Slide” and “Cupid Shuffle” play on organ.  Organ music continues in a minor key.  Mollie: We would recommend non-scary foods like candy, cake, Tres leches, chicken fingers, French fries, tacos with mole, coke, pizza with pepperoni, and rice.  PJ: Oh, yes!  Mollie: Jenny do you know what you are going to dress up as for Halloween?  Jenny: A cow.  Mollie: Ooo! Excellent!  Mollie: And PJ what will you be for Halloween?  PJ: I wanna be, like… I was SpongeBob last year.   Mollie: And will you be SpongeBob again this year?  PJ: I need to go buy a new costume.   Mollie: And where are you going to buy a new costume?  PJ: Grocer—Ah! I was about to say grocery store.   Mollie: laughs Don't buy your Halloween costume from a grocery store!  PJ: No!  Mollie: You're going to be dressed as a potato sack!  PJ: Target is better to buy Halloween costumes.   Mollie: Right on. Couples Becoming Intentional | Christian Marriage, Building Lasting Relationships, Communication, Young Marriage

One of the most impactful things we learned in our marriage is the importance of asking good, clarifying questions, to be empowered to ask people in your life. Today, we're using the same framework and understanding how we can use questions to grow deeper in our relationship with Jesus.    From this episode, we encourage you to ask questions of God. Opening yourself to be vulnerable, asking questions of doubt, and the purpose of seasons are important to ask to strengthen your relationship with Jesus.    “To have belief is to ask questions” - Barnabas Piper    Highlights:  Being shaped by our belief beyond just knowing it  It's okay to doubt, it's what you do with the doubt that matters The hardest part about belief  Importance of being in community  Asking questions of Context and Content Specific questions you can journal during your bible time Reading the bible formationaly rather than informationally    Rapid Fire:  Favorite ice cream flavor? It is that time of year again, and it is my pleasure to interview the American Star Finalists for this year's National FFA Convention.  What a great time of year, and what a fantastic guest to kick off this series of interviews with! I am always fascinated with the way the mind of the finalists in agriscience research work, and with Danae Westra that is very true!  Not only has Danae been doing research on her families dairy since her freshman year of high school, but she has been doing research with immediate, practical applications in the family dairy business.  In addition to that, Danae has a big personality, and that has show through in the names that she has given each one of her projects: Freshman Year: "Calves R Us" Sophomore Year: "Milk R Us" Junior Year: "Protein 4 Life" Senior Year: "Milk It 4 All It's Worth" Freshman Year Of College: "Mastitis Mishaps" In this interview with Danae you will hear a repeated theme - getting up at 6am to do research before school started.  Whether that was weighing calves, pulling blood samples or collecting urine, she was out there, everyday, getting it done before school even started.  This is what is so inspirational about FFA students, and this is why Danae has already been recognized as one of the top four agriscience researchers out of the 850,000+ FFA students in the nation! SUPERVISED AGRICULTURAL EXPERIENCE: Agriscience Research HIGH SCHOOL: Central Valley Christian High School, Visalia, California MASCOT: Cavaliers FFA ADVISOR: Kelsey De Jong CONTACT INFORMATION FOR DANAE WESTRA: Click on the picture below to be taken to the Central Valley Christian High School website: Danae's FFA Advisor's Email Address: kdejong@cvc.org Central Valley Christian High School Telephone Number: 559-734-9481 FFA LINKS: National FFA Organization Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAE's) Support FFA  Donate to FFA - FFA students can start small businesses through an FFA grant of $1,000.  In 2014, 141 FFA students received these grants.  With your donations, more students can get this head start - pay it forward. REASONS TO DONATE TO FFA: Only 2% of Americans grow and raise most of the food and livestock consumed by the other 98% and the rest of the world.  FFA provides the needed education, training, and resources to Americans that will carry that torch forward and ensure that America continues to have inexpensive, quality food. Rural Communities will rely on entrepreneurship in the future for population growth and job creation.  The FFA is a major catalyst to that entrepreneurial growth. Farmers, ranchers, and those working in agriculture give the rest of America incredible amounts of freedom because the food search is as simple as going to the grocery store: “The future of American agriculture depends on the involvement and investment in America's youth, In order to prepare for the population of tomorrow, we need to encourage America's youth today, and show that careers in agriculture are profitable, rewarding, and vital.”. Today's Podcast is "Gospel Grace" taken from Voice of Truth January 2022 edition 7, titled "Is This It?" by author Anita Setran.   May you know the meaning of Jesus in your life and that there is way more to life than what you see right now.   ****    I wonder what I am going to be when I grow up.   Did you ever think or say this when you were young? Or maybe, like me, you have continued to say it year after year, through your teens, twenties, thirties, forties, and now, for me, knocking on fifty's door.   Jesus has always been the center of my world. At the age of 16, I dedicated my life to full-time ministry and have now served in full-time missions for 24 years. I brought up my children in full-time ministry.  Very similar to how I was raised. I've had the privilege of leading young men and women, training and sending people on outreaches, and investing in new ministries. I am grateful for the life I've lived, and yet through it all, I still found myself thinking, I wonder what I am going to be when I grow up. So, I prayed, God, have your way in my life.   It's not that I haven't lived a full life. I got married at 20 to my best friend, and we will celebrate our 30th anniversary in September. We have three beautiful children. Our eldest son is now married to a beautiful, Christian young lady. Our middle daughter has just graduated from college, making the Dean's List every semester. And our youngest daughter, Kiersten, is our very special gift that we get to keep forever! Our precious baby girl just turned 18, and she has Down Syndrome.   In the depths of my heart, I always knew, yet also feared, that I would have a child with special needs. You see, I had three precious uncles who each had special needs and learning disabilities. They were not diagnosed during their childhood, but it was evident that they were different. However, they were special. And they were mine. They loved me unconditionally, and I loved them. I knew that my childhood years of living near them, caring for them, and protecting them had prepared me for this divine task of special needs motherhood.   Kiersten needed open-heart surgery at nine weeks old to repair a very large hole in her heart. Just days after the surgery, while still in the hospital, she split open her sternum bone due to severe vomiting, requiring a second surgery to open her chest and repair the sternum. In the months to come, her heart healed perfectly. Over the next eight years, however, Kiersten would require seven additional surgeries for her hearing and other needs. It felt like the doctor appointments, lab work, and hospital visits would never end. Eventually, however, things settled down, and life continued. I wondered, Is this it? Is this my calling, my purpose?? We prayed, God's will be done.   Years later, we marched as a family in Washington DC at the March For Life with a group called KIDS, Keep Infants With Down Syndrome. It was wonderful and fulfilling. We participated in this event a few consecutive years, and I wondered, Is this it? Is this what I have been waiting for? We prayed and trusted God with each open door.   In 1992, my father, Nick Savoca, founded a new ministry called Prayer Stations. It is a profoundly simple concept. A red and white banner printed with the words “Prayer Station” is hung above a white table and displayed on a sidewalk so that pedestrians approaching from either direction can see it. We started this ministry in New York City to provide free prayer to anyone in need. It's disarming - who doesn't need prayer? After all, prayer and God's faithfulness were the themes of our lives.   Immediately following the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York City by terrorists on 9/11/2001, Prayer Stations expanded its ministry to rally Christians from around the country and the world to come and pray for our fellow New Yorkers. We set up as many as 14 Prayer Stations around the perimeter of Ground Zero and had them available six days a week for a full year following the devastating events. As a ministry, we prayed for over 50,000 people in that year alone and saw more than 3,000 individuals give their lives to Christ. Miracles happened on the streets. Prayer really does change things.   In the years that followed, we continued to use this amazing tool of Prayer Stations in New York City, praying for the needs of people and witnessing salvations and other miracles that happened before our very own eyes. In addition, churches and ministries that had served with us during the year following 9/11 began to reach out and ask if they could purchase a Prayer Station for their own communities. At that point, we began to manufacture Prayer Stations to send around the country. We also had the banners translated into 12 different languages as requests came in from around the world.   As a leader in our ministry, I trained young people and sent them out on the mission field all over the globe. It was beautiful, yet often challenging. I was honored to mentor young men and women and see lives transformed. And I wondered, Is this it? Is this my life's calling? So I prayed and asked the Lord, Is this the thing? Is this what I have been praying for?   Then this past summer, 2021, my husband and I almost lost our lives to Covid. People were praying for us all over the world. It's a long and miraculous story, which you can read about by going to our website, www.sparknewlife.com. Through it, God opened more doors for ministry - only this time, instead of asking my usual question (Is this it?), I finally began to see how it was ALL IT! I saw how God had woven this beautiful pattern of lessons and experiences into my life. I had been fulfilling my purpose all along.   He carried me when I was weak. He opened new doors of opportunities when I least expected it. He healed our daughter's heart. He challenged us to trust His faithfulness and step out into new avenues of ministry. He gave us back our lives, and in turn, we will spend every day to our last breath living for Him and doing whatever the next assignment happens to be. We have been living out His purposes every single day!   This is what I know: God has a purpose for your life. My favorite life scripture is Jeremiah 29:11 “'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.'” (NIV)   The Bible also says in Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.” (NIV)   Wow! The God of the universe loves you so much and has a purpose for your life - whether you have been aware of Him throughout your life or have been running from Him for as long as you can remember. Deuteronomy 31:6 says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you or forsake you.” (NIV)   Genesis 1:26-27 tells us that God created us in His image and likeness. Webster's Dictionary says that an image is a duplicate of something else, and that to be made in the likeness of someone else means you possess many, but not all, the characteristics of that person. Only humans are created in God's image and likeness. We are daughters of the creator of the universe, and we possess His characteristics. He has given us a soul, a spirit, the desire for relationship, free will, reign over the earth, wisdom, knowledge, and the ability to discern between right and wrong. He's given us hearts of love and compassion.   It's easy to look around our world today and wonder whether or not these giftings are really given to everyone. The truth is that they are, but unfortunately, people have chosen, with their God-given free will, to turn from God and His purpose for their life. We have an enemy, and his name is Satan. Jesus says in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (NIV) Our enemy desires to destroy us, to take us off course from God's beautiful purpose for our lives. But don't forget about the end of that verse, which says that He came that we might have life - abundant life!!   I have good news! It's never too late for you - whether you are young or have been around for a while - God is a loving and redemptive God. He loves His kids, and you are welcome into His family because of the gift of His perfect and precious son, Jesus, who laid down His life as a sacrifice for our sins. We are told in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV) We only need to accept His love and forgiveness, and He will make us whole and set us on a path of true purpose, one where you will never have to ask again, Is this it? Isn't our God awesome?!

Our conversation spins and twirls in the dance of the making sense humorously. We discuss his early comedic upbringing and surviving in Brooklyn. Then, onto his participation in creating an alternative school in Washington DC during the 60s. The circuity of comedy and conversation takes us through sharing sacred space in truth telling as well. Swami ultimately pronounces an upwising in the awareness of Americans toward the Heartland and our part in the Great Weset. Steve Bhaerman is an internationally known author, humorist, and workshop leader. For the past 29 years, he has written and performed as Swami Beyondananda, the "Cosmic Comic." Swami's comedy has been called "irreverently uplifting" and has been described both as "comedy disguised as wisdom" and "wisdom disguised as comedy." the Swami, Steve is the author of Driving Your Own Karma (1989), When You See a Sacred Cow, Milk It For All It's Worth (1993), Duck Soup for the Soul (1999) and Swami for Precedent: A 7-Step Plan to Heal the Body Politic and Cure Electile Dysfunction (2004). In his "past life" (before Swami), Steve started an alternative high school in Washington, D.C. and co-authored a book about his experiences, No Particular Place to Go: Making of a Free High School. A political science major, he later taught history to autoworkers at Wayne State University in Detroit as part of the Weekend College. In 1980, Steve co-founded Pathways Magazine in Ann Arbor, Michigan, one of the first publications bringing together holistic health, personal growth, spirituality, and politics. Subsequent to Pathways, Steve was a freelance writer and co-author with Don McMillan of Friends and Lovers: How to Meet the People You Want to Meet (Writer's Digest Books, 1986). You're listening to the Modern Therapist Survival Guide where therapists live, breathe and practice as human beings to support you as a whole person and a therapist. Here are your hosts, Curt Widhalm and Katie Vernoy.   Curt Widhalm  00:49 Welcome back modern therapists. This is the Modern Therapist Survival Guide. I'm Curt Widhalm with Katie Vernoy. And this is the podcast for therapists about therapists about things the therapist should know and one of the topics that I think often gets overlooked in any discussion about cross cultural representation, diversity awareness and, and is something that admittedly, we here at Modern Therapist Survival Guide have done probably the bare minimum about in our four years of podcasting. Here we've had one episode about working with Asian American clients. And today we're joined by Linda Yoon, a licensed clinical social worker, and founder and all sorts of cool things over at the yellow chair collective talking to us today about things going on with the Asian American community and things that therapists should know and working with Asian American clients, especially with huge spikes in anti-Asian hate crimes and anti-Asian microaggressions. and everything in between, especially here over the last couple of years, with the corona virus pandemic going on. So thank you very much for spending some time with us today and helping us in our audience. better serve the world.   Linda Yoon  02:12 Hi, thank you. Thank you, Curt and Katie, for inviting me to speak on this topic.   Katie Vernoy  02:17 We are so excited to have you here. You and I have had a conversation and I just really respect and I'm very excited about the work that you're doing. The first question that we ask all of our guests is Who are you? And what are you putting out into the world?   Linda Yoon  02:31 As Curt introduce, my name is Linda Yoon, I'm a licensed clinical social worker in California have over 10 years of experience in mental health, social services, advocacy, mainly working with a lot of immigrants and refugee population, we're often Asian Americans. I'm also the founder and co director of Yellow Chair Collective, which is a multicultural psychotherapy group, we have a special focus on Asian mental health at this time. To answer your second question. I'm actually not sure what I'm putting out into the world currently, I'll have to see, you know, maybe in 20 years and reflect on what I have done. But however, today for this podcast, my intention is to put out inclusion and awareness of Asian American issues and mental health. And that is a goal for me today.   Curt Widhalm  03:23 One of the questions we like to ask towards the beginning of our episodes here is there's a lot of mistakes that people can make in any variety of ways. And if we can help our audience not make those same kinds of mistakes, that's one of the great services that we can offer. From your perspective, what are therapists getting wrong in working with Asian clients or interacting with Asian colleagues?   Linda Yoon  03:48 Yeah, first, I do want to share a little bit update on why this is important. Especially for therapists in America. Actually, Asians are the fastest growing population in the United States between 2020 18 Asian population grew 81%, which is even more than Hispanic population who are 70% growth. And yeah, Asian population is expected to grow past 35 million by 2060. But because Asian Americans are actually least likely group to understand and be poor their senses. So the number could be actually even more higher. And now to answer the what therapists may be getting wrong, or working with Asian clients or Asian colleagues, I mean, there are obviously, you know, biases and stereotypes that therapists of non Asian descent may have about Asian people, right? model minority myth, I'm sure you've heard about it before is a huge issue of this biases and stereotypes, whether they are good or not. model minority myth will often say Asians are smart, they are hard workers. They do not cause trouble. They do all, you know, economic sense. And it creates a lot of this homogeneous and model, that thick idea of Asian Americans are, when there's tremendous diversity within Asian American community, Asia actually has over 20 countries, East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Indian subcontinent, each with unique history, you know their languages and characteristics. And then we just get often forgotten in the media in the US. Also, maybe what I want to point out is maybe not misunderstanding or getting it wrong, but maybe the lack of understanding of who Asian Americans are, especially the community of therapists, because there's not much education, or knowledge around multicultural issues. And, you know, especially within Asian communities, so we got to be seeing more and more people with multicultural issues in our within our clients, just in society, you know, we will have a cultural cross cultural couples, families and identity issues. And there isn't really a lot of education around that. And I can give an example, perhaps in the context of Asian verti cross cultural issue that can happen, that therapists may miss. If you're a non Asian therapist, oh, no, white therapists, you know, let's say you have an Asian couple coming in. And let's say they're both East Asians. Yeah. So assumptions may be like, you know, they share a similar background, you know, and there wouldn't be necessarily assessment around, you know, what languages do they speak? What languages do they grew up with? or different cultural backgrounds, you know, what's their immigration story of their families, there may be, they're all bringing in to therapy room in their relationship, right. So I have a good friend named Susan. She's also my co director, at yellow chair collected, she has a partner, Jimmy and Jimmy and Susan are both East Asians. Now, if they go to couples therapy, because they're both East Asians, it's so easy to assume that they share similar culture, right? However, Susan is Korean 1.5 generation Korean. And Jimmy is second generation Chinese who actually also grew up with four different Chinese dialect languages. And that that created a lot of like, communication and language issues, as he grew up, that might have affected him, you know, attachment or communication style, that maybe some keys to their relationship and their relationship issues perhaps. And without education around it, we will miss it. You know, without knowledge, we don't know what to look for how to assess, and how they affect.   Katie Vernoy  07:44 So what I'm hearing is that there is such a huge diversity within this monolithic term, Asian American especially. And I read recently that it that even the term Asian American was about trying to bring together political power. And maybe that isn't quite a term that that's helpful anymore, because it does create such a monolithic perspective. And I'll link to the article in the show notes. But it's something where I'm hearing that there's a lot more questions maybe that should be asked when you're working with clients that fall under this huge umbrella so that you can actually get to some of these things. What are some of the questions that you would recommend when you're when you're setting with potentially any client of any culture but but specifically that are being left out in these conversations with Asian American clients?   Linda Yoon  08:33 I do want to note that historically, Asian American term was coined to bring Asian Americans together because before the term do us, a lot of people actually refer to their ethnic heritage. You know, I'm Japanese American, Filipino American, or if there were, it was called Orientals, which has racist connotation to it. During the time that word was coined, there were a lot of different movements like anti war movement, Black Power movement, and Asians voices were getting lost. And then there was intention to bring people together. In my opinion, there is not the best way, there are similar experiences Asian American full share, I think the term is helpful. I think what I want to point out is not forgetting that there is a lot of diversity and how they may play so kind of like you know, this band diagram share like being Asian and American, or Japanese or Korean, even though they're very close together in East Asia, they do have a difference. They speak different languages. They have different culture and South Asian and Southeast Asians who are often kind of forgotten. A lot of people think of East Asians when we say Asian Americans know that they are also included in this term. So I think it's just really about education, being mindful to be culturally sensitive, by gaining those knowledge right? I'd also released listening to people, you're individualizing as well,   Curt Widhalm  10:05 Can you give us a little bit of a deeper dive into the model minority myth? I think many of us have heard it in one capacity or another. And I think it probably just gets shortened down into kind of like that. Oh, yeah, model minority. But there's apparently a lot more to this.   Linda Yoon  10:22 Yeah. So a lot of history context is, in this term model, minority myth. A lot of people don't know about it, why it was created, why it was pushed, why is there we have to kind of go back to World War Two, actually, when Japanese internment camps happen, and they came out and they're given, you know, just a little government, a compensation or a to rebuild their life. And a lot of Japanese Americans worked hard and really rebuild their lives. Around 1960s when there was rising of civil rights, right, black Americans civil rights movement, why society media really started create this propaganda of, Oh, look, look at this Japanese Americans, they're thriving out of ashes, you know, look at them, they were, everything was taken away. And they got a little aid that black Americans also got. And they made a very successful businesses and successful people. And they will cherry pick this people write the success stories, right? To create this opposing view, to discourage and diminish the effort of civil rights movement, in 1960s. So much of America, including other people color, I say, really took this narrative, even Asian Americans themselves out of survival, right? So they want to survive. And to survive, it's just really embracing this model minority destined to have some advantage and privilege and position themselves more like, you know, quote, unquote, white, right? However, this really created this opposing there between a lot of people color, and make Asians really invisible, that Asians are not, sometimes we're like, oh, they're not people color, or they're just honorary whites, right. And they really made it difficult and harder. And that's that model, minority myth was created, not to maintain the systematic racism for all races. And the narrative was created as if the racism was just binary in a black and white. And then systemic racism doesn't exist, and they're different THERE IS THAT COUNTLESS model minority myth to put the blacks at the bottom, white Americans at the top and Asian Americans like somewhere in our chart, but not white. Not Wow. Yeah. So that really asked to how Asian American experience has been dismissed. And that was not taken seriously for a long time. And that led a lot of self gaslighting dismissing of their personal rates and experiences, because like, Asian Americans, especially East and South Asians, who really embraced this model, minor e myth, live up to pressure to this myth,   Katie Vernoy  13:09 What are the questions that you would ask a new client coming in to make sure that you understand the different elements of their story and the uniqueness of their experience?   Linda Yoon  13:18 I mean, there is definitely standard intake a lot of people use as a therapist, and I would like to always ask, you know, their cultural background or ethnicity and kind of go beyond that, you know, immigration story, their immigration stories, you know, do they identify themselves in the culture, cultural biracial cultures that I have seen in my clients, sometimes, they might look in a past more like one ethnicity more, but they actually family or relate to more to another culture they grew up in. So kinda like that aspect, you know, just not have assumption. Now biases asking, and how was it growing up by culturally, you know, how was language book in the family? Because it makes difference in the relationship dynamic, you know, with different speaking languages at home, like I had a client whose parent was Japanese or Korean, and they spoke in English, and then, you know, they never really got to really learn each other's language. So that was kind of hard, you know? And that how did that impact that? So we wouldn't know unless really go deep into their, you know, cultural history, immigrants history, like, how did they How did that family resettle? Because that also has that identity, generational identity that they bring where the immigrants, were they refugees, you know, one of the reasons they moved, right, so all those questions that could be considered   Curt Widhalm  14:51 What kind of barriers do Asian Americans face in seeking out mental health services?   Linda Yoon  14:58 So Asian Americans are Actually, three times less likely to seek out mental health services in the US. So, you can see how little the service is utilized by Asian Americans. First there is lack of understanding of what mental health is, because it can be very poor and concept. In many traditional Eastern medicine, wellness confirm body and mind is a balance of body and mind concept is connection between body and mind in traditional Western concept of mental health and separating, right, that mental health and physical health, so it really wasn't in Asian people to capillary Asian medicine vocabulary, when this concept of mental health in a Western psychology was introduced. So that's one of them. And there's also cultural collectivism, which values family community over individual needs. Many Asian Americans as you grew up in a household that don't really talk about mental health, or emotions in general, and it can, when you seek out mental health services, it can seen as kind of personal failure, that not just on you, but also as a family earlier, it brings shame to the family, because whatever you do, whatever you represent, is not just a reflection of you, but also your family and community. So a lot of Asians will comment, not seeking our mental health services earlier was afraid of how their family will perceive it. And if they will bring shame to the family and their community. This is really true, especially for the first generation immigrants, and then older generations. But I do want to note that second American born, younger generations are more open, and perhaps more westernized, you say, and have more understanding of mental health. And they're utilizing mental health more and encouraging older generation to seek out help and it's needed. Some other external barriers that I might point out is for those who need therapy services, in their native language, or they need a therapist that understands the culture, because the issue is very cultural. There just isn't enough, culturally or linguistically competent service providers and programs out there. And I mentioned earlier that Asians are less likely group to understand or report to US Census, because it has historical context to it like Japanese and campaign, that census was used against them. So census means that you get representation, right, and you get funding. So when we don't know who's there, the funding and resources do not go there. So there is this lack of research done on Asian mental health and funding for the programs that Asian Americans need. So those are some barriers, I will say that are more prominent.   Katie Vernoy  17:55 When we're looking at Asian Americans seeking mental health services, I just think about it, you know, and Kurt nodded to this earlier in the episode, just how much there could be a huge need right now, given all of the anti Asian hate crimes that microaggressions and just terrorism, I mean, like there just seems like there has been big attacks on Asian Americans. And maybe some of it has been more of a spotlight because of, of the time and that the the kind of worse. I think, as a society, we're trying to pay attention to this more. So we've got the model minority myth that basically made this experience invisible, but there's also kind of the objectification of Asian women and the fetishization that occurred. Can you talk with us a little bit about what that is?   Linda Yoon  18:47 Yeah, definitely. There has been a fetishization of Asian woman like historically that a lot of times Asian woman was seen as no going again perpetrator foreigner right, like foreign exotic in some rumors know about Asian woman's body. And I think it really has to do with military like wars, right, where military personnel will go for a long time, you know, Korea, China, Philippines, and then they you know, they needed you know, quote, unquote, they will call comfort woman or they call it a prostitute, but I wonder if they had a choice to do so. They all really added up to this idea of Asian woman because model monetary myth also said, you know, Asian woman's are quiet, obedient. Just Good, good woman. If you want a non troubling woman and give your sexual pleasure is Asian woman so that that narrative, you know, with the military, seeing woman, Asian woman's exotic husband there, and I'm not sure why he was invisible because there's a lot of movies that also fantasize Asian woman, right? Yeah, I've heard penetrating that ideas. And I personally got stories to a lot of Asian woman will have the stories that this you know, creepy old man will come and talk about how they always want to be with an Asian woman, like, out of nowhere. And I know I'm not the only one a lot of Asian women actually do share similar experiences on that. And it's led to the spouse shooting right at once a shooting in March, he really associated the shooter associated Asian woman, as sexual beings in I think he may have statements something about that he wants to eliminate, kill all sexual because he has sex addiction. So he has sex addiction, and then he blamed that on Asian woman. So there are some narratives that came out that he stated around sexual distractions he was trying to fight off, and he blamed Asian woman, associated Asian spouse, you know, with a lot of sexual services. And that was one of the his intention of going to Asian spouse and creating this mass shooting killing of eight people.   Katie Vernoy  21:11 I feel like I know, enough to kind of know what I don't know a little bit. And so I just wanted to get from, from your perspective, what you're seeing what you're hearing what Asian Americans are facing today, because I think therapists need to know. And they need to be prepared to support their clients in in the sessions that they're having with them.   Linda Yoon  21:30 How difficult it is a lot more awareness, especially with anti Asian hate crimes getting more attention. But I do want to note that racism and violence against Asians always been in the US history for centuries. And some notable things that people don't know about as there were anti Chinese movement that causes massacres and lynching of many Chinese people in 1800s. All the way to Chinese Exclusion Act, and more. You know, with the visor model, minority myth narrative, I think that narrative really try to make Asians struggles really invisible. Because like, oh, they're doing so well, right. And although there always been this discrimination and racism, it wasn't really shown. And that really caused a lot of Asians to invalidate their own experience dismissible. They want to experience this because nobody did the media and why society didn't really believe in racism against Asians. And actually, as the pandemic started, like, it's officially started recording. In America, there were a lot of hate crimes being reported, especially shared through social media. However, media didn't really get that on like, there wasn't really attention to it. And it was when the shooting in Atlanta that killed eight people, six Asian woman, that's when media actually really started. agonize, but for many Asians, the rise of hate crimes were very distressful. Even before, it was almost like we had to wait for mass shooting to happen to get some attention. Wow. Yeah, we sell attention and of anti Asian racism, and the hate crime rising made a lot of Asian Americans reflect on their everyday quiet, you know, racism microaggressions, you know, we can say, and as we know, micro aggression is like a paper cut, right? It's like a small paper cup, but you get so much the wound become bigger, and it actually really hurts and it can get infected. Right? And for many, many years, microaggression against Asians were considered acceptable, or even funny, like, I internalize it myself, too, and made myself by identity as Asians, you know, some kind of joke and then people laugh about it. I'm like, okay, but inside of myself, it doesn't feel right and no, I so, I can share some common microaggressions that Asian people do get very most common one is like, Where are you from? Right, because we're professional foreigners, you know, no matter how many generations you have been here, you're a third fourth, fifth generation, you still have the Asian Look, you're not from here, right? And then not taking answer like oh, I was born in the US as an answer. It's like no, where are you really far off? And sometimes, you know, without the person, you know, letting the other person know like, they struggle with English you just say oh, you speak good English. It's not like usually a compliment unless the person you know says something about it insecurity about English, or Asian look the same. Or I'm not attracted to Asian boys. That's a big one. As if that's a preference right for the whole, putting hallways like this regarding whole race just because of race. Or assuming all Asians are good at math. All It seems like a good myth. It really overlook a lot of students who really hate math or not good at math, and not be able to get the proper health. And big one that I shared earlier is you know, Asians are homogeneous monolith, I definitely got some comments like, Oh, where are you from? Right. And I actually was born in Korea. So when they like, Oh, where are you born? And then I'm like, Oh, I see. I was born in Korea. And they start talking about how their niece was adopted from China. Like, that's a poor cultural connection that has no relevance to what I'm talking about. So as if that connection was appropriate, you know, yeah. So my hope is that there will be continual dialogue and education around how harmful motto My name is, has been for everybody, and the stereotypes and biases that come with it, as we really try to validate the Asian experiences that have been on Santa invisibles for a long time. So and that's, I think, May, there's a lot of different things Asian Americans really struggle today. But I think that's one of the main things that this stereotypes and biases are harmful and hurt people.   Curt Widhalm  26:13 For a lot of clinicians who may not have much experience of working with Asian American clients, and their first Asian American client overcome some of these barriers that you've talked about. They finally, you know, feel, hey, I'm going to seek out some services. For those clinicians in those first sessions. There's probably a lot of opportunities to just stumble all over yourself trying to fit in all of these questions in the first place. And trying to say, you know, hey, I've listened to Linda's episode with Curt and Katie. And there's both kind of this taking what's going on with them right now, in all of this current Zeitgeist of what's going on all of the Asian hate, that's, you know, being finally kind of seen in a consistent way across media, social media. What's the best advice that you can give those clinicians kind of in that first experience, as they are trying to create a good therapeutic environment for those clients that invites them back to therapy and isn't just kind of reinforcing some of this mental health divide that exists here,   Linda Yoon  27:30 I believe it will be really balanced of, you know, doing work, to be aware of knowledge and education of, you know, Asian American culture, and also not having any assumptions of the client who comes in who's, who stood in front of you, right, like the basic therapeutic therapy process, like hear their story. Now, there are so many different intersectionality, of individual and Bellamy's story that we might not, we might miss it, we have preconceptions of who they are. So but then we also don't want to not have any cultural background, right? So I think it's just really about balance all of it. But if you don't know a lot about Asian culture, and you know, hopefully, you're committed to it, but you have this client that you just don't have a lot of knowledge at this point. How is it just hear the story and be mindful not to ask the client to be a teacher, though, because it really puts a lot of burden on the client to teach their culture. So really, really hard lineup, like finding that balance, listening, understanding, but also not putting that burden? Unfortunately, I don't think there's a simple answer to it. But if you are present, and you are listening, and doing your own research and understand the consultation, if you need to, I think that will be a good place to start   Curt Widhalm  28:57 Broadening that out for even some of the more savvy clinicians or clinicians who might be more familiar with some of the nuances here. What's kind of the best way to support Asian clients and larger Asian American community for mental health professionals right now.   Linda Yoon  29:13 Best way to support Asian clients and larger Asian American community right now? is being proactive on being anti racist. Like I want to make a point that and being anti racist is not same as not being racist. Yes, it's a proactive term. It's a proactive way of approaching values that work towards fighting racism. You know, not being racist, just not being racist means that you know, I'm avoiding racist situation. I'm not making racist statements. You know, it's very neutral, non active, it doesn't really add to, you know, any work of eliminating racism and we are just holding into Asian American issues because There has been on the news on the media. In the last year, we saw with George for us that there were a lot of attention towards racism against black Americans. And this year, not so much corporate anymore. And Asians racism against Asians will lose interest. And then I can still, I can see the media is covering less and less, even though it is still happening. But the racism because media is not covering, it doesn't go anywhere. It still exists, people still experiences, trauma happens. And fighting and speaking out against racism is not a trend. Right. So regarding the topic, I'm speaking up today, the question I want to ask people is, ask yourself, how am I going to support and be inclusive of my Asian clients and colleagues, now invest in my career, and it really comes down to one thing, being mindful of studying the culture and getting to know the person individually, and really just being less open to listen and learn? I think really being teachable learnable is the biggest thing and ask if you need to, like, Is there something you need individually? or do some research google it different ways that Asian clients or Asian colleagues may want to be supportive? I mean, there's definitely fundraise for anti Asian hate crime prevention, right? Like, I think donations are good way, and just letting people know, hey, like, I'm thinking of you. One thing that I do want to point out is like, if you haven't spoken, this one particular agent, colleague, you know, that you have for years, you know, don't just you know, are polluters contact, it just feels a little impersonal. And then there are some agent clients, actually, and other people that are here to me that they felt a little bit like out of blue, a little insensitive. It's like, now this is a time that you make connection, like you didn't try it for years. So we do want to be mindful that but if you have a relationship with this particular colleague or community, yeah, let them know your support or get involved, really educate yourself on Asian cultures and how it is impacting the Asian cultures or an Asian American culture.   Katie Vernoy  32:17 Yeah. I really liked that advice. It's something where we had some similar advice with Dr. Joy Cox came on and talked about intersectionality, as well as kind of how to support diversity and inclusion. And, and that was one of the things she was saying is like, build real relationships. You know, that's really important. And, and I think that's, that's what you're saying as well. It's like, reach out to the people you actually have relationships with, whether it's therapy clients, or colleagues or friends in that caring, connected way, not as a checkbox or not as like, Hey, can I pick your brain on what's going on in the world right now? Because I think either of those things are very impersonal and harmful. Yeah, definitely. So to summarize kind of what I am hearing, because I think this is this is very, very, very helpful. Thank you, Linda, I think being able to to hold the space for each person's experience is unique, there's going to be a lot of complexity there. You don't say Where are you from? I was, you know, even though that's one of the things that that may be important for therapists to know. But maybe what's your cultural heritage? Is there, you know, is there an immigration story that's relevant to you and your family, kind of being able to get to a place where you can learn more about this individual in front of you, and understand the uniqueness of their experience? And then do research and not have them teach you about all of their culture? Because I think that's important. I just, I'm reflecting on some of the conversations I've had with Asian colleagues, clients, friends, and there is so much that I didn't know about the Asian experience in the United States that I've started learning more about, especially the model minority myth, fetishization and kind of the exotic nature of for Asian women. I think there's just so much that is happening just all over the place that we've been so unaware of. It's been hidden. It's been, it's been invisible. And so I'm so glad we've had this conversation. And I just really encourage people to reach out like you had suggested within their relationships to, to learn more about that person's experience and to support them in whatever way we can. Yeah, definitely. Where can people find more about you? Because this has been very helpful. I'm sure there's gonna be folks that want to learn more about what you're doing and potentially seeking out some consultation.   Linda Yoon  34:40 Yeah, I mean, you can definitely find more about us at yellow chair collected calm. The term, ‘content is king,' has never been more true than it is today. But while marketers are racing to simply come up with effective content at the speed that consumers expect, there is also a struggle to  produce and scale that content across all of the various channels that exist today.“It's less about costs, and it's more about speed and agility. Our world has changed with the pandemic. We all realize that it's accelerated that change. We all live in a digital-first world and businesses need to adapt to that. They actually have to have the teams inside the business with the right tools to be able to build those experiences really fast and change those experiences on the fly and do it across multiple markets and multiple languages. It's complex.”Bridget Perry knows a thing or two about helping marketers and creatives get access to the proper tools to get things done at the speed at which they require. Bridget served as the CMO of Adobe Europe when the company pivoted to a SaaS-based platform, and she is now the CMO of Contentful, where she is helping marketers push out all the content they need to at the pace and scale they require. On this episode of Marketing Trends, Bridget explains why headless content management systems are the future of content distribution systems, and she dives into the importance of creating a seamless customer experience that reaches your customers across all endpoints.Main Takeaways:Not The Front Door, The Side Door: When it comes to interacting with your brand, digital is often the first entry point for every consumer. But, more often than not, consumers are not interacting with your company's front page, instead, they are accessing your content through other landing pages. As a marketer, it's important to think about all those various touchpoints and make sure you are optimizing every experience to make sure that all your digital endpoints are operating in a cohesive manner.Content for All: It seems like content is being developed at the speed of light and it's important that marketers have the ability to push that content and optimize it for all the necessary digital channels and not just think about where one piece of content will end up: web, email, text.Speed and Agility: Marketing today is less about overall cost and more about how quickly you can spin up content and then scale that content. As a marketer, your tech stack must reflect the reality that your teams need to be empowered with the particular services that allow them to meet those two critical functions. If your teams cannot operate in an efficient and agile manner, they will fall behind.---Marketing Trends podcast is brought to you by Salesforce. We face the risk of stagnation not only in our personal lives but also in our careers. To avoid this, we seek new experiences to improve our skills and become better at what we're doing. Don't be intimidated by challenges and change — they're what push us toward our goals for professional development. Joining us today is Jem Millett, who has more than 20 years under her belt pursuing her passion in sales and marketing. She is the founder of the Good at Work Club, which promotes professional development. Jem talks to us about the importance of having career development in our professions and tips to overcome the challenges that prevent us from getting there.  If you're struggling to avoid stagnancy and achieve your goals for professional development, then listen to this episode and be inspired by Jem and her words of wisdom! Covey Good At Work Club:  Instagram | Linkin | website  Connect with Jem: Instagram | Linkin The Japanese Ikigai practice Episode Highlights Jem's Background Jem has always wanted to be an entrepreneur and found she had a passion for marketing and sales. In her experience as a manager, answers from happiness and improvement surveys always include professional development. Jem jumped around different industries and realized that it wasn't about the industries but about the work itself. There was a need for professional development coaching for workers, and she wanted to address this. People Want Personal Development Employees have goals for professional development because they don't want to remain stagnant. They want to know what's in their future and to become masters at what they are doing. They want to have feedback that they're doing good, growing, learning, and being challenged. Everyone has goals for professional development. Where We Can Get Professional Development Conferences get employees excited to implement their learning in their work. However, this motivation is almost always short-term or isn't suitable for everyone. Jem observed that these events are not the right mix and not consistent and specific enough for that person's long-term vision. So she wanted to provide consistent professional development for every level of employee. Coaching isn't only for executives. It's also helpful for people in the early parts of their careers.  Professional Development Is (Not) the Employer's Responsibility Society has trained us from childhood to think that development is someone else's responsibility, from school to college. Many people carry that attitude to adulthood: we think that our professional development is our employer's responsibility. It's not. HR may provide learning management system courses and conferences, but they cannot level up your skills. Determine where you want to be in 10 years. From here, identify the skills and goals you need. Determine the skills you're good at and those that you need to develop. Tips for Ambitious Women to Achieve Their Goals for Professional Development You're not alone in having difficulty achieving your full potential at work because of the lack of development.  You should know your values and understand how to use them in your work. Cast your vision and work backward from it. Plan your way towards your vision. Have integrity and accountability. Surround yourself with a community that challenges your blind sports and celebrates your wins. Invest and develop your skillset. Then, identify what's worth leveraging. Rethinking Outdated Career Advice One outdated piece of advice is not to challenge authority. If you know or understand something that can contribute to your company, it's your responsibility to discuss this respectfully. Respectful discussion helps both parties understand each other. Know your value and have the confidence to communicate. The Biggest Challenge That a Woman Can Face in Career Development It may be difficult to find a sponsor. Be prepared. A business or corporate mentorship is a trusted adviser.  Meanwhile, a sponsor is someone who would speak your name and pull you to the next levels and propel your career forward. Identify potential sponsors, approach them and build a relationship. Exhibit hand-to-heart service. Build and show value, and they will naturally step into a sponsor role. The Good at Work Club The Good at Work Club answers the call of people who want to achieve their goals for professional development. Here, communities of like-minded women professionals come together and help support each other. There are custom development plans for each individual, weekly updates, and monthly workshops to improve skills and foster development. Jem shares that she wants The Good at Work Club to remain virtual to reach more people. However, she hopes to have an in-person event in the future. Finding What People Need Jem found out that women need a professional development map that points towards their vision and career.  They want to know if they're doing it with focus and efficiency. So Jem started to work with clients and their feedback to build the programming as needed.  How Jem Does it All It's essential to identify your priorities.  Jem likens this to juggling, where you identify which balls are glass and which are plastic.  You don't have to juggle every ball. Jem's Daily Non-Negotiables Jem has rituals that focus on paying attention to what she's doing and habits for subconscious and automatic actions. She has a morning planning ritual that helps her give attention to saying yes or no to the right things. Every Monday, Jem spends the first hour of the day budgeting her time. She makes sure to spend 2 hours each week reading blogs and taking courses for her development. Jem's Advice for Women Who Suffered as a Consequence of COVID Research shows that the pandemic could hold women back for two years in their career progression.  Bouncing back is still possible after the pandemic. Don't give up, and take the time to reflect and discover what you want. Try filling out an ikigai. It's a Japanese model which looks like a Venn diagram that can help you discover your passion. Be diligent in your career search, spend time to see if you can build something on your own, or try things that can work out for you. 5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode “They want that feedback that you're doing a good job, and you're growing and learning and you're being challenged. Otherwise, you get kind of bored.” “It's really important to have integrity, accountability, and a community that can challenge your blind spots and champion your wins. Even the small wins.” “I really wanted to foster a community of like-minded women, emerging professionals, emerging managers, who wanted to come together and help support each other in their professional development.” “There's this idea that we have to do it all. But I like to think of things as you're juggling. You need to know what balls are class balls and what balls are plastic.” “You can't give up hope. You need to hold on and do what you can do. I think this is a great time for you to take a moment and discover what do you really want.” About Jem  Jem Millett is the founder of the Good at Work Club, which aims to improve your professional development so that you're good at work and feel good at work. She has over 20 years of experience in the sales and marketing field and a decade in mentoring and coaching. Jem finds motivation in serving and empowering women to take control of their professional development. We're thrilled to welcome Rachel Smith to The Truly Co podcast on this week's episode. Rachel is a Truly magazine writer, with articles included in Truly's leadership and unity issues. In addition, Rachel is a Midwest mom who doubles as a Master's student at Pillar Seminary and is passionate about studying and understanding the literary truth of the Bible.   In this conversation, Rachel shares a wealth of knowledge about common misinterpretations of the Bible, toxic theology, women in ministry, and more. She compares Biblical truth in our hearts to a plant – "If you have just begun to have a seed planted, you need to take time to grow that truth before sharing it with the world, or it will shrivel up," she says.    Rachel shares her story of how she internalized this concept ten years ago as her daughter lay very ill in a hospital at a young age. Meditating on God's truths in that devastating season brought understanding and maturity to her faith and knowing God's character.     She encourages us to always go back to the intent of God in dry, confusing times. First, pursue scripture. Scripture, Rachel explains, first and foremost, should be our filter. Unfortunately, though, there are times when the most we can do is go on a walk, and Rachel reminds us that God is declaring something over us even if we don't hear it or feel it. "A little bit of faithfulness is a big deal in dry times."   Listen and learn more about Rachel's wisdom in pursuing and understanding the Bible's true meaning.   Connect with Rachel for more resources at rachelboothsmith.com, on Instagram @firmlyanchored, on Twitter @rachel7092, or via e-mail rachel@smithsfrontdoor.com   Some of her favorite resources: How to Read the Bible for All It's Worth by Gordon D. Quoting St. Jerome, the great fifth century Bible scholar, the Catechism of the Catholic Church (133) tells us: The Church “forcefully and specifically exhorts all the Christian faithful. . . to learn the surpassing knowledge of Jesus Christ, by frequent reading of the divine Scriptures. Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ.” Theologians throughout the life of the Church pointed out not just a connection, but a identification between Jesus Who is the Word of God made flesh and the Scriptures, the Word of God written and handed down to us.  But how does that work? What does it mean? Theologian Dr. Jeremy Holmes hopes that his new book will answer that question. The title is Cur Deus Verba: Why the WORD Became Words. This is how we position ourselves- selflessly. For me, I'm also driven towards a transformational hope for a better tomorrow on this earth and in its fullest in Heaven. On this episode of Cyber Security Inside, Tom and Camille dive into a topic that’s on all of our minds: What does security look like in the new WFH and IOT era? Is it good enough to secure our devices or do we need to be thinking about network security as well? Mauricio Sanchez, Network Security Research Director at Dell’Oro Group, shares his insight.    The conversation includes: •  Shadow IT •  WFH •  IOT •  SaaS •  Network security best practices for the new era •  Data leakage prevention •  Cloud malware •  Phishing •  5G ... and more!   Plus, they close with some interesting takeaways on tea origins, fire ants, and the astounding number of connections being built in a human baby’s brain every second.  Tune in. You don’t want to miss it.    Here are some key take-aways: •  In this new era of WFH and IOT, i’s not enough to protect our devices. We have to also think about how those devices are talking to each other. •  With the increase in teleworkers and the departure from the corporate confines, there’s an increase in threat exposure. The distributed environment makes it all too easy for data to be lost inadvertently or maliciously.  •  When experience suffers, people find ways to circumvent corporate security and access the data directly. That’s where new threats come into play. •  There’s been an increase in attacks from a data perspective against SaaS-based applications. Hackers are realizing that, by cracking a SaaS application, they’re getting access to the same class of data that once lived inside the corporate confines.  •  Once inside, hackers are focusing on distributing malware to get deeper into the corporate ecosystem. •  The network architecture of the past isn’t conducive to the new trends that have exploded over the course of the last 18 months.  •  All IT teams are now having to participate in the overall security outcome of the enterprise. •  Enterprises need to treat the internet as an extension of the enterprise network.   Some interesting quotes from today’s episode: “When you look at enterprises and how they conduct their business, what we are seeing is that this work from home phenomenon is here to stay at a much higher level than it was pre-pandemic. And so when you start thinking about that, that then has a number of ripple effects when you think about networking or security.” “From a network architecture perspective, that classical model of sending backhauling stuff back to the data center and then squirting it back to the internet has a number of problems.”   “As enterprises move to a SaaS-based model and rely on third parties, it becomes extremely important to make sure that the network and the IT infrastructure in general plays a role in making sure that the right connections are happening between the right users and the right applications.”   “It’s all too easy for a user — really by accident, not necessarily maliciously — to push a sensitive document to the wrong spot in the internet, because all of these are internet-based applications, like One Drive or SharePoint. Then all of a sudden you have a leakage scenario come about.”   “They're now pivoting towards blasting corporate accounts that sit off on Google Suite or Office 365. Once they do crack the password and get access to the data, they're placing malware on those file shares that looks like legitimate files. And it’s becoming a way to distribute malware to get deeper into the corporate ecosystem.”   “From a network architect's perspective, the world was much simpler before the pandemic, before the ascension of large ranks of teleworkers, before the internet application — because everything was much more contained and monolithic.”    “The internet is becoming the enterprise network for a business. And this is a huge philosophical shift for those people that grew up in the age of being able to touch the box, know what fiber the packets were running on, and really own the end-to-end network themselves.”    “If a business was predicated on having their employees having to come into the office, and that enterprise wasn't really internet and remote worker friendly, then they found themselves having to catch up and make themselves a little bit more internet friendly.”   “Enterprises have to embrace the SaaS-based because not all workloads are going to come back as proprietary workloads and applications. But there are probably some applications that will be coming back on-prem, which then relieves a little bit of the pressure of having to go full SaaS model.”

Study Notes Ed Underwood The New Covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-34; Luke 22:20; Hebrews 8:8-12) “Indeed a time is coming,” says the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with my people.” (Jeremiah 31:31) The seventeen Books of Prophecy record the messages of the writing prophets (those whose messages are preserved in writing) God raised up to speak for him following the ministries of the prophets Elijah and Elisha. The failings of the Divided Kingdom Era prompted God to speak to Israel in the north and Judah in the south. They continued to speak to God’s people for over 400 years, including the exile to Babylonia and the return to the Promised Land. (1 Kings 12-Esther) Studying the Prophets of Israel presents unique interpretative challenges. We must keep in mind the number one principle of interpretation—the Bible can never mean what it never meant. When we place the prophets in their proper literary and historical context a pattern emerges. We begin to see the prophets as Covenant Enforcer Mediators. (Fee and Stuart, How to Read the Bible for All It’ s Worth, p. 167) The prophets spoke for God to His people concerning the enforcement of terms of their covenant relationship with God. Each spoke to a specific generation of Israel or Judah to enforce the conditional covenant (Mosaic) in the context of the unconditional covenants flowing from the Abrahamic Covenant. Their message can be summed up in these sentences: You are mine! (Unconditional covenants, Romans 11:29). Walk with me and I will bless you. Walk away from me and I will call you back to myself through loving discipline. (Conditional covenant, Romans 9-11) An exciting aspect of God’s covenant relationship and promises to Israel for New Testament believers is our relationship to the New Covenant God made with Israel. During the days of Jeremiah, when it was obvious that Israel would never keep the Old Covenant, God promised to make a new covenant with Israel and Judah. This New Covenant had to do with the blessings of the Abrahamic Covenant: Indeed, a time is coming,” says the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. It will not be like the old covenant that I made with their ancestors when I delivered them from Egypt. For they violated that covenant, even though I was like a faithful husband to them,” says the Lord. “But I will make a new covenant with the whole nation of Israel after I plant them back in the land,” says the Lord. “I will put my law within them and write it on their hearts and minds. I will be their God and they will be my people. “People will no longer need to teach their neighbors and relatives to know me. For all of them, from the least important to the most important, will know me,” says the Lord. “For I will forgive their sin and will no longer call to mind the wrong they have done.” (Jeremiah 31:31-34) This was the passage to move Origen to name the last twenty-seven books of the Bible the New Testament. It’s also the largest piece of text quoted literally in the New Testament in Hebrews 8:8-12. It’s a key passage in helping us understand how we, as New Testament believers, fit into God’s great plan. God made the covenant with Israel and its ultimate fulfillment will involve the physical descendants of Abraham, the Jews. Yet the New Testament writers make it clear that church-age believers have mysteriously and wonderfully entered into the blessings of the New Covenant: Before we begin our journey through the Prophets of Israel, it’s important to understand the implications of this critical text for us today. I. What is the New Covenant? It is a series of promises that God made to Israel and Judah during the darkest days in Old T estament history. These promises are unconditional, unchangeable, and irreversible since they are sealed by God’s oath. The New Covenant replaces the Old Covenant of the Mosaic Law because that covenant had been broken. It is vastly superior to the Old and makes it obsolete. It defines the blessings of the Abrahamic Covenant in glorious and unexpected ways. Christian, enthusiastically embrace and live out your New Covenant blessings! The term “New Covenant” occurs only here in the Old Testament, though there are numerous references in Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Hosea. The New Covenant was future to Jeremiah’s writing. The Lord would make this New Covenant with all the Israelites—those who had inhabited the Northern and the Southern Kingdom: The blessings of the New Covenant are: An inner inclination to obey God, an internalization of His Law. “ I will put my law within them and write it on their hearts and minds.” God’s New Covenant will give Israel the inner capacity to obey His righteous commands and enjoy deep intimacy with Him. Ezekiel (36:24-32) and Joel (2:28-32) clarify that this inner power will be the indwelling Holy Spirit. A firm relationship with God that is secure and eternal. The knowledge of God: Intimacy never achieved under the Old Covenant. The forgiveness of sin: Israel’s sins would not only be forgiven, but forgotten. Isaiah clarified this by saying that God’s Substitute would make payment for sin (53:4-6). Jesus announced that His substitutionary death on the Cross would ratify the New Covenant (Matthew 26:27-28; Luke 22:20). II. What do the New Testament authors say about the New Covenant? God ratified the New Covenant with Israel when Jesus Christ died on the Cross, and the church now operates under this covenant. Jesus inaugurated the New Covenant when He died on the Cross as a substitute for sin (Luke 22:20, Matthew 26:28; Mark 14:24; 1 Corinthians 11:25). New Testament Christians are ministers/servants of a new covenant based upon the Spirit that gives life and therefore our stories of relationship with God are about what the Spirit is doing in our heart (on the inside, 2 Corinthians 3:1-6). New Testament Christians are recipients of the blessings of the Abrahamic Covenant through the promise of the New Covenant. Because of Israel’s unbelief and unfaithfulness to the Old Covenant, the church has been grafted into all the spiritual blessings of the New Covenant (Galatians 3:14; Romans 9:8, 11:17). The four benefits of the New Covenant—inner inclination to obey God, firm relationship, knowledge of God, and forgiveness of sins—belong to all the regenerate of every age since the substitionary death of the Son of God on the Cross. (Hebrews 8:8-12) Since the New Covenant offers final forgiveness based solely upon the death of Christ, there is no further need of a sacrifice for sin. (Hebrews 10:15-18) III. Does this mean that God is through with Israel? No! The promise was specifically made to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The full spiritual, physical, and national portions of the New Covenant do not belong to the church. Those will be fulfilled in the future. We believe that this will occur during the Millennium, the 1,000-year reign of Christ on earth following His Second Coming. IV. What does this mean to me? God made the New Covenant with Israel at the Cross. But grace upon grace! Though the church does not replace Israel, mysteriously and gloriously we enter into her New Covenant blessings! We have the Holy Spirit who inclines us to obey God (Romans 8:9; Philippians 2:13). We have a firm relationship with God through Christ which is secure and eternal (1 John 5:11- 13). We have intimacy with God that no one under the Old Covenant could experience (Romans 8:16- 17; 1 John 1:3). And we have forgiveness of sins through the death of Christ (Ephesians 1:7).

medical vs restaurant trivia!https://kbmdhealth.comhttps://gutcheckproject.comHey hi Mandy if you don't know me it's probably because I'm not famous but I did start a men's grooming company called Harry's.com and enter 5000 at checkout that's Harry's.com code 5000 enjoy and welcome back to the chase project episode number three we are still here and love and we think we can keep doing this to like episode like Joe Rogan episode number 2068 they still let us back on 2068 means only have 2065 the ghetto Jordan close we are getting closer so thank you again for joining us that the feedback is that once awesome it's a it's impressive I had no idea it this many people in such a short amount of time and want to hear what we had to say about bridging the gap between health and nine natural and medical science absolutely I love it we've been as we get to hear shortly is a big message by a bunch of people and had a lot of friends from you know all over the United States contact us and say hey that was that was interesting is recovering some cool stuff special last week with Sean Brian's on if you did not check it out please deep dive into CBD and a little bit into the cannabis industry but really cool such a deep dive that the material was so informative that YouTube of course allowed us to keep spreading the message but Facebook will hold our our recording down for little while we had replaced it with YouTube so I guess if you want to know the truth then sometimes I suppose, slow down a little bit about the debts and we covered those topics like they obviously did that because of the particular topic that were time as we are all about the science of it where showing everything that's working to do really continue to do this and today what could we have our show today we are going to be joined by Chef Patrick Mosher now if you listen to the spoony network already chef Patrick Mosher is already somebody they are quite familiar with however get experience from all different aspects of cooking for gigantic hotels being a part owner of some large chains and putting together the food items ever essentially he's he knows how to build food and how to make something out of his message is you are what you eat my messages all health begins and ends in the gut this is why teaming up with chefs and getting out those can be supercool thrilled to have him is actually the producer of our show so this is going to be any reason to tune in to be that were to move him over here and easier to be a guest so we had to on the fly he had to on-the-fly teach Eric's wife Marie to run the to the production desk over there so if anything let's just stay tuned for that because as a camera isn't where it's supposed to be don't be mad at her doing what she did she just learn how to do it two seconds ago hey you can't blame her for me setting the camera incorrectly can't blame her yelling at the right way that are really fun though regardless speaking of let's get caught up on our on our recent week weekends anything big happened with with you and your families last week it's pretty chill something conical I just mentioned a little bit about how people been messaging us now remember we are the gut check project I phrases check your ego at the door everything is on the table and somebody had messaged me on Instagram and asked why do we what was to get your project Y check your ego at the door and only last week was actually my birthday on our show and I I read a book written by Ryan Holliday called the daily Stoic all this is a fun little way to start your day by those every single day he takes a lesson from a Stoic philosopher McKenna dumbs it down and gets it through okay so March 14 was one that I had I thought it was way too coincidental that somebody message me for this and this was the actual thing so bear with me while I explain this but it makes total sense to me and this is the kind of stuff I start my day with so the quote is from DRG this layer to this Zeno would also say that nothing is more hostile to a firm grasp on knowledge than self-deception so what I like about it Reinhold he then breaks it down basically says self-deception delusions of grandeur these aren't just annoying personality traits ego is more than just offputting and obnoxious instead it is the sworn enemy of our ability to learn and grow as Epictetus said it it is impossible for a person to begin to learn what he thinks he already knows today we will be unable to improve unable to learn unable to earn the respect of others if we think were already perfect and a genius admitting it so that was the philosophy that you and I have ordered set up the show it's got check project check your ego at the door sitdown and let's learn from each other let's teach each other and that's why we have a chef on today is regularly about food right we deftly learn little about food you well it's good question so I speaking to my wife who is going to work in Camas today for a show thank you Marie this this last weekend we spent our time with my boys putting down a new floor on the chicken coop so alive has had experience in the past we've had her own chickens and we harvest on eggs is the best tasting as you can possibly imagine but if you like spending around 72 $73 and egg get yourself some chicken because it's awesome they taste terrific buddy on the great that reminds me because I do believe that you guys tried some beekeeping at one time you and I put together what we've taken care of carob some patients which I'm sure that be okay with me saying that that they were beekeepers so there was a Dr. Robert Bender was a gynecologist in town unfortunately died of cancer but it was the funniest thing having lunch with him and he thought about how him and his wife decide to get into making honey results fantastic to goes I'm a gynecologist I know how to deal with women I sent you will treat one queen really good and I get all this honey and were selling this honey its local natural honey it's $7.60 a bottle only cost me 28 per bottle exactly what you say and I love that guide I love the quote unfortunately always best on book I like it when people take risks like that kind of owner will completely own it, check your ego at the door to tell you that were having fun doing it were not making money the farm fresh eggs taste great we just got to get to the point where we don't have our dogs take chicken that's others to hate the originals you mentioned a book and some is really cool/we even reading this book from Isabella Wentz ideas yes you and I both receive this fantastic book Isabella Wentz is an amazing PhD once you haveso can I fortunately meant to admit Isabel and her husband's a year and 1/2 ago when were working in San Diego and she was diagnosed Hashimoto's and dad she then asked she was diagnosed with Hashimoto she went on to change her diet laminate some of her triggers trigger foods like gluten and dairy containing foods and then began to find that she could eliminate out that inflammation and put herself on a road to recovery it's not any different than what you wrote out what you have the Stoics book the reason was to get to project what dad Dr. RI what does chef Patrick's going to join us and talk about how you can control how you feel with great food it's no different so thank you very much Isabella for Isabella and your husband's name but will find that out and thanks so much for sending us the book W read this to recommend it to my patients you done an amazing job oh yeah Hashimoto's food pharmacology food pharmacology comes with a full meal plan at the very back with all the way down to what exactly what to buy inmates like any other recipe book but it's it's high quality tell you why why you're doing what you're doing not just eat this for here's what will do will all of them will all read come back into her like a sort of synopsis of the book once again as well thank you so much for doing that supersmart woman love talking to her when we were in San Diego with my insurer meeting that was awesome definitely absolutely season quick catch up for listening here on spoony don't forget if you want to drop by and pick up some love my tummy.com/spoony for your own are trying to heal you get a discount for using spinning is the discount code as well as check out KB MD health get your brand-new KB MD CBD in our new store so if any of you have ever read Isabella Wentz's books or if you enjoy the show at all we are all transported to other this is a rising tide will lift all ships one way to do that is to actually go to these websites purchase a product and use those codes so that everyone is trying to help each other out we want to make sure that Chef Patrick has a successful show and his network grows in the spoony radio digital platform becomes massive and one way to do it is definitely going on and supporting our sponsors without question without question will get moving here when our first half-hour and dad, the format is that we touch on health matters as they come through KB MD health was to talk about here the gut check project so can want you tell us a little bit about what is on your mind healthwise today so one of the things I mean I'm a complete nerd so you want to geek out at some point in the show and I was thinking of the articles I but I basically spent my nose in journals all day long and starts trying figure stuff out but then I came across this really cool article about the science of food and it just falls perfectly into this Hashimoto's food pharmacology and were to have Chef Patrick on here so no food is fascinating why do we like it does so many things you've got texture you've got smell you taste the consistency of it there is a whole science cold food pairing Scientology porcine science science and science technology and technology articles food pairing technology Where you look at this and you can actually manipulate which we like for instance one of the examples were the more simple examples would be like when you eat really fatty meal ribeye right will the lubrication that happens on your tongue if you do too much of it you can balance that out with an astringent thing that actually binds to proteins and gets rid of that slimy field okay so it's the balance you don't want too much of anything guess what is very stringent read one that's how come red wine pairs so well with a good adding ribeye has and an actor just get that to go away so I started going down this route a whole family's articles and I'm sure that this is second nature to the chefs out there and the other golf course that is but this work is really fun as it turns out only 20% of your taste is actually happening on your tongue okay 80% is the aroma and it's the aroma the terms on everything else so the we perceive the aromas because they interact with our olfactory nerves so as it turns out these different aromas do different things and you can augment them we talked about the entourage effect last week you can actually have an entourage effect when it comes to food by pairing certain foods that have chemically similar aroma molecules okay so in and before you do for my taking a sip of this be similar you said that you would use an astringent to basically cleanse your mouth it's really probably no different than using I'm guessing Ginger whenever you're about to eat sushi so the ginger works like that exactly so as it turns out like for instance did you know that like white chocolate and caviar go very well together did not it's wild because when you put it through when you take these foods and what the scientists are doing is they're taking the foods and they're putting it into a gas chromatograph okay and what that is is that is something that actually shows the molecular weight you can go out here despite your spike these two foods share similar spikes as it turns out white chocolate and caviar share similar spikes in that molecule is trimethyl Ammon Miriam smells like fish sure does in fact there's a disease on the side note: try methyl or I'm sorry it's try meth alanine is the molecule trimethyl and manure is one that I'm familiar with is I've actually had patients come to me and like it's weird when I eat certain foods people can't be around me there like you have a weird odor that's called trimethyl Avenue area and it's that molecule which is trimethyl M and trimethyl amine certain people have a genetic predisposition with the Caprica and I looked at them going to do anybody receipts in a like for like yeah and Mike got in all we do is change your diet problems gone yet so I could you start looking at some of the stuff in the science behind it is so cool when you're looking at the interactions what can happen is that you can have similar molecules that paying your olfactory nerve to go to your brain and go oh that's this and then if another food pairing pink that same one a little bit a little more little less so on then it heightens the first one so you can build your recipes and food off of the molecular structure and beyond the whole tongue thing you know the sweet salt bitter sour mommy the new one the earthy flavor of this is the way to really take your food to the next level and much of what chefs have probably learned Michelin star rated shaft is there already doing it without realizing that it could be based on the science of this church so for instance like a large portion of a strawberry actually has cheesy molecules really so you can sit there and pair strawberries with a certain cheese and it will augment each other the they will build each other up so really fun I never would've thought about this checking my ego at the door I start going down food science because we got a chef on the show today and then this opened up the whole thing right on the UK website now just real quick it would just be any kind she's surely has to be you would make strawberry nachos I'm just saying I can a case on top of the pile strawberries no no it has to be certain she's with similar molecules okay that have this yet and so you can go to food pairing.com and my kids are having some fun with this today where you can create a recipe so I so I looked out to Chef Patrick give me a protein anything you want give me some food product or to build a recipe offer right now live let's go with duck duck so this done whereas I specifically duck breast reason to start with this not a malady yeah okay would you like to be wild yes okay wild now will begin to do is somebody has put a duck breast into a gas chromatograph and they have figured out how to actually pay the so now foods that are similar or foods that have a molecular component that is similar include all kinds of different stuff but basically here we go I think that you should pair this with as it turns out Remi Martin cognac that's why he had his first thinking online CLE source any serious interest in their honor will find out right here what we put a citrus solicitors one day before he answers Patrick what kind of citrus would you would you already kind of will intuitively think it will because he thinks something is sweet yet astringent like can I do colorize right so you have this rich duck in and it's not just a fat ass again okay accommodation all the flavors some curious if if the classic pairing in particular is one that comes up one would match okay and also so fun about this is that now or build it so I an interesting fruit that you showed up as persimmon oh so will add that one so now it's happenings were build missile recipes so you can decide how you do this so we have the ability now to realize okay why do certain foods taste good so my son Lucas and I were talking others were having fun today looking at this and he goes wait a minute is this a way to prepare foods so that the healthier foods will seem like they taste better take so like I want to put tail and do something else with that and I'm a parent with something that'll augment the cheesy flavor of something else use less of that more of the tail they help each other out like this facet of never ever ever heard of using food pairings through molecular studies to possibly trick your brain into liking the food more making healthy food more appetizing making healthy food more appetizing as well yeah interesting yeah so just come and follow things left my nerdy clip of the of the of the show youngest and hours on there now you just ruined her life anyway though I am so what you can do is you can actually Savior food parents and my kids were doing this also and my daughter Carla built a 40 or 50 when we look at it here she started with C Urchin okay branched out and we've got all kinds of stuff see urgent tied to cow mozzarella which eventually takes us to buckwheat and you can just see how much fun this could be were you could do this and it's it's based off the realm of what I loved about what Lucas said was let's make healthy food tastier sure and do it like this sure a lot of chefs probably know this but this is a way to actually use this as this is the style that I would do when I have the Hashimoto's food pharmacology going on to make it taste a little better as a way to do nano kid let's answer bets and brilliant tool that I had never been exposed to Alec some of the idea that foods could make you smell all the different onions for instance I may not love onions but if not grilled in your eating fresh onions it's MS your partner is also eating onions it sets, no go right you and I had a discussion on and I wanted to rail us off of of building that the foods to make them taste better but wasn't that long ago you and I had a discussion about what asparagus does to urine and you said that somebody was doing a test whenever I believe you are in med school that they were basically trying to figure out how fast somebody could rapidly make the the year and change its odor from consuming disparaging of that conversation is absolutely so back in the day this during my fellowship Dr. Wessler was the was a pioneering guesser elegy he's the guy that figured out that there is such a thing as lactose intolerance and we say that like it's nothing but somebody had to figure out that there's an enzyme called lactase and so he was as it as a scientist and document it was kind of fun because he would give us a lecture every year and the fantastic guy is in his 70s just kinda having fun with us each a part-time no part-time lecturer and it would be the same lectures would be lovely pictures from like the 70s it's awesome he made everybody eat a bowl of asparagus and then they had to go P and never really had the time when they could spell when they could smell the asparagus is because that was his absorption study which are not only do away with that now ribs like you ever eat this brilliant. We started smelling yeah yeah the take away whenever you were doing that they were stressing how quickly it happened to break down the food I was really quickly in these molecules that do this – get in your bloodstream and get filtered through your and some of them remarkably quick so what do we handle distribute on about onions when people take Allison which is a garlic extract that they will actually use the garlic out of their breath out of everything because it just gets absorbed so much and that's one of the issues that my patients will have in the company will be taking supplements be like something's wrong Mark are you and Allison like yeah Mike I could smell it from here well if you happen to watch the gut check project and you want us to have the ability to tackle a new subject the best thing to do is go to KB MD health.com escaping the health.com go to the gut check project show you'll find that there is the ability to connect with us and submit something he wants to tackle that's really how we the last two weeks we stumble across what we've always come across to talk about we cover so much ground he only would it be really cool we were talking last week about bringing Dr. Blair on Col. Blair onward and talk about TBI right now imagine doing the product light on the hospital's trauma hospital we have a food protocol for traumatic brain injury we don't have CBD protocol with DHEA or any that stuff when the beat amazing week ago were going to be a brain information diet your to be on the supplements and this is the protocols can happen that's the goal of this whole thing is to bring science and I mean a whole separate show would be talking about so fewer of thing which is a molecule and cruciferous vegetables like broccoli was it turns out it's really really good for you it's anticancer it's anti-inflammatory but when you cook it the enzyme can't break it down called the Rawson Ace and so like a little hack would be a chef we can sit there and say no were to put some of mustard seed powder on it and then it will actually convert it so you just made your broccoli or broccoli sprouts way healthier sure so if you ever get diagnosed with cancer and there's all these crazy studies about like bladder cancer and stuff like that when you do that like I would love to have a protocol food protocol what you're gonna do the Hashimoto's food protocols right there working have a food protocol if you get this venture headed that way no joke on the Chrysippus vegetables they come with them basically so you're blocking the estrogen correct correct yeah not separate magical inane speaking of preservice vegetables B cauliflower just last night my wife and I went to go eat pizza awesome pizzeria and actually make gluten-free pizza the crust was made out of cauliflower it's amazing what they're doing cauliflower now because it taste like great bread and is not read it all basically having a great Chris Arafat's vegetable while you're eating a delicious pizza and were hoping that in spray glyphosate on it so that it's a good skill LOL yeah non-GMO vegetable crust they taste just like regular bread is real know I love all of those cauliflower crust so myth the legend Chef Patrick Mosher hey don't you know that's that's quite an intro not sure I can live up to you lots not bad for sending DUI if you live in an Iraq chef Patrick does a lot of everything is chef obviously he also produces many the programs here on spoon radio he drives fast he texts and drives he doesn't sleep he likes his smile he likes to laugh Emily now I only text voice text almost and I just use a series command so if it comes in a garbled and funny blame Siri yeah well I just made it up at any another string I like you I drive lightning I got around on the weekends between here and there for work in any other time off I have so like the real work so doctors are unique persons are they have unique personalities I chefs are I think they take the cake and fruit upon the intended I've met a lot of chefs and a lot of sepsis patients and I am just fascinated by that lifestyle that you don't thank you so much for coming on we talked earlier about how Isabella went send us her book and last hour talk about how food is you are what you eat all health begins and ends in the gut and here we are we've got a chef with some serious experience you have you have done a lot if you think you and I worked at been fortunate to work all over the world I asked you can start my culinary career in Japan well as I started my culinary career career in a Sizzler steakhouse when I was like 14 what what kind scissors Western Sizzler is yearly wishes Sizzler stay cast so Sizzler was a pretty big Chad pretty chain back in the 80s and early 90s her hand so I would see I was the busboy dishwasher at the scissor state has until Thursday night came around I got Says that as a dishwasher busboy and apparently on Thursdays there is all you keep popcorn shrimp so the kitchen as he was like okay cool I'll cook so I was Sam's bussing outback that he can put 10 piece shrimp on any given play because it's all you can eat right there Arizona State football team and command after he simply teachers that your back in your ear like helping other iron in their back there, laughing at you because they get your percentage of your tips not only do the hardest job is to clean the fire at the end of the night but they get your money it only took me at six weeks to figure that out here and I was like man I'm the dumbest guy in the planet and and shrimp everywhere feared you yeah you know what's it's interesting that my first job in the kitchen sent me home smelling like seafood because leaders are progressing to see Sheehan seafood specifically every night was like a gate getting came to bed before he took a shower because your sheets are just a mistake in his previous but it is what is your family was your family a frequenter of the Sizzler growing up yes we reduces her in Omaha Nebraska so the salad bar limits telephone the logic of that was just going there my favorite item there as a kid was that not any part of the salad that the canned chocolate pudding for whatever reason quite nutritious goes right alongside the square chicken fried steak so this is what I love me with with your culinary chops that has gone all the way to Japan to learn this is where you start is frying shrimp and it says look I lasted about two weeks at McDonald's for that but I don't really count that right now I have nobody ever does now I was acquitted sure what I should do to food my father had a large garden but we lived in upstate New York and the town of Carinthia Corinth if you live there it's near Saratoga Springs Albany that area coming in the middle of steak and damn mind my dad's entire family all of his siblings except one brother lived it within a mile of each other on the same road and my grandfather owns a few sections of land on either side he had a dairy farm and then a large vegetable garden and my father attended at least an acre garden every year so we spent summers as I was like three on the pic means you're picking beans and snapping beans and helping mom put stuff in jar so she could cannon like a cat I am not sure I tell my first culinary job as a real job in the family right up your alley just doesn't work out well my grandfather's letter to cattle every winter and then we split the meat up but amongst the family charities usually did two more later but early in the winter the first big heavy snowfall made at and C have to string them the absolute peace how you gently say you killed him he just killed the bank and then… Our first episode we are to explain my background were Eric would go with his dad to register you and I would go to the slaughter house and my dad was a running neck and since that's what you're saying that let me know know it's not actually it's more like the ad that gasped AGI part O… Depart this maybe maybe maybe I missed my calling but before they can ask to get the animal there something has to be done so they hang it up upside down you have to climb up a ladder and you have to I was five years old when I was taught this my first time you to cut around the muscle up around of the maintenance and yet the tide because if you don't when the stomach elongates it's a geyser oh comes at the back is so that was my first real job for the family in slaughtering B was I got to climb the ladder and hi Taft about who I now I am I much rather have a mean as more or less permanent constipation makes total sense what you were drawing you like him to know where you already you know why writing for lent for several years plus the cost so after you had the exposure to the dairy farm and all the vegetables then that obviously is setting a foundation for you to get into food you probably had no idea that's where your leaning but i know i did and i really my mother was a great cut my father was a good cook a very good cook and her whole family every every that revolved around food okay so as i got my father died very young i was six years old he died to great cancer at 47 while yes and dad back then there was no really no treatment by the time they figured out why you had back pain is been much over and anyway so but i spent a lot of time when my mother cooking after that – i just i just picked up i really love food i did i i was fortunate enough to move to germany my senior year in high school and the family that that that i lived with that hosted me was very generous in that we had to get other countries in and dine on some fantastic food and food as a way of life for them and in germany is where i learned about minimalism in the covered you know because they have dorm style refrigerators don't have baked refrigerators are slightly larger than little boxes you have in your dormitory in the shop every day every single day at least once a day to shop as it was for your bracket was delivered in the morning fresh while that's pretty interesting. it was awesome so i just a side note growing up and watching my grandmother cook my dad's mom she was she was fantastic i loved her fried chicken as she fried a lot of stuff but for some reason back then she still remained skinny but she and i don't know if your mom or your dad was like this my grandmother could flavor anything to taste terrific fried chicken chicken fried steak vegetables etc. but one of her trademarks was to always cook with a cigarette hanging out of her lip that was flavored building with burn ashes in there as well as i think that she saved all the different kinds of meats that she brought in the oil and in different folders cans fish oil and that chicken grease etc. is it something that you also did not say new york yeah you don't weld eventually i think had a different flavor and if it will will start thereby produce because we have burn pile of year trees that would fall with a lot of property and we burn on the actual garden so what would and might my father would rotate back and forth into plots so each season the previous year's burn pile become the new garden in city dias content right the potash well – content was really high so a lot of minerals and i mean it's it's amazing how healthy the vegetables are when you do that you people used to take the ashes from the fireplace and put them into the burn pile into their compost deep sure we don't anymore but that is not right there was just fantastic for the flavor and the freshness of vegetables but my money as she skewed everything okay you accept what you call it swiss steak was boiled whatever lien beef steak she could buy it was the cheapest cut with a bone in it and smothered in them tomatoes and garlic and then she broil that the oven it was actually pretty good – he sounds delicious compared to what were some of the first part of the show what i'm thinking is that you know smoking has a lot of it is a carcinogen known as benzene but we should do is see the chemical structure similar to benzene to add that good childhood flavor that you're missing the smoke when without getting the cancer yeah yeah probably so he can get you can put winston cigarettes into the mass spectra shouldn't even pops out to charge me figure out figure out what fruit or vegetable has a similar molecular component near benzene time answer i'm interested that i'm really curious about that this is a fascinating science for me and i'm thinking i could just as i could change my restaurant consulting business to just be menu consulting based on this and take the elevator TOoh yeah absolutely this is the kind of stuff and we wouldn't be talking about if we were preparing for the show i was just i was just a deal try to think of okay what's a really cool thing we talk about i have to sciences up i like it i'm a nerd and i'll probably try do this with every single topic that we do find something that yes really fun oh terrible that would be really cool so you're sitting there sobbing for your dispose of this great organic before organic was cool you guys had a mechanically warm touch poor poor alright so what happened after that we moved arizona which was a whole different thing i learned about spicy spicy foods right my first meal out in every week and eat out a lot as a child very rarely maybe once or twice a year at the most we went to this little mexican restaurant between chandler and gilbert arizona which are now massive towns that have grown together but then they were just very small towns and that limit its cost is something this little mexican place and i had a chimichanga's mother eating spicy green chili salsa and i went ballistic it was it was done i was never anything but eat tasty food again and and and and not healthy necessarily but flavorful food and that that cannabis bondholder you and you live down there is i guess i was in sixth grade summer and allowing a nice set of a few years so then you you progress through graduate and then you end up oil before you graduate you worked the sizzler and then how did you decide that food beyond being told they arraigned a danger going to do popcorn shrimp something you want to pursue and deliver to people to make him happy what i had few other jobs cooking after that but what i realized is that no matter how how cash strapped your family might be there is always food in the restaurant and she works there used to get some of it for free sure so i think that was it i think mentally i determined never be hungry again right and i just parlayed into into a career but i really and start cooking full-time jobs in japan is working as an interpreter such working as a copywriter start get some interpret good job in japan like writer i did for chemical trans tech international they were a check technical translation company the parents of a friend of mine had come to united states to go to school in eighth grade and stayed all the way through high school they owned and ran the company in osaka japan and he invited me to come and work for them after while i was acting in college time well so i heard you speak german and you also speak japanese type hello, so wow so this is fascinating so chefs or super intelligent people that know i'm serious. many of my friends are chefs or people of extremes share the nar that is fascinating you speak japanese german english to work and back doing appetizer version and it was as fascinating i love you and japanese chefs are so meticulous they have the waiting approach for japan and she had a proverb that defines through japan and it's it's it's that the only the audience at is actually it's it's not just food it's the food it is the substance of the universe right so their philosophy is let it let little seem like much as long as it is fresh and beautiful let little seem like much, as long as it is fresh and beautiful so small portions very ornate and well garnished very clean and seasonal seasonal is the key word there and typically local all just too far ahead but i do remember one of our previous conversations you did say that you were with the noble as well greg i did work for number for number years i actually i was the executive chef and that helped open a restaurant in aspen last month he said that's his last name and then i was fortunate similar location so in a minute i'll imagine all those principles that you're talking about probably carried over to the live presentation the food yeah you know honeywell there's a whole another layer there and he he lived and worked in peru for a long time and he was fascinated by french cooking techniques so he took these japanese base ingredients added the layer of the like infuse the flavors of's of peru and chile and then to add that to another level by using french cooking techniques and just phenomenal stuff while yelling at ocean would say there so my family were huge asian cuisine fans all of it our favorite restaurant is actually japanese restaurant in plano we go there at least once a week really i mean you can send him a plug – or llama iam a check now yeah we have the it's just unbelievable it's it's it's it's good and sensitive i think is very very traditional japanese food had told me our waitress is always our waitress so we just sit around and through to start showing up that's what i love the methodical just this is what's happening it is predictable it is well and it's thoughtful thoughtful yes so it here's a really interesting cultural thing from japan is a great book called mino because with some the dip the anatomy of interdependency okay okay describes her whole culture one of things in japan and when you start a sentence they finish it for you like ice to teach for this guy jenna ricci he had two small children i spoke in my itouch spoken english i taught them english and japanese speaking is my second day speaking with so gimme a break he would call in and he would say i think you and i say yes he is jonah lychee desiccated and will mean this is generally key and he just stopped and i'm supposed to finish since you must be calling about but i wish i didn't know that right some just like okay hi i just wait for him to say something but eventually you learn it's like him japanese interject a lot they say hi a so they stay in there what they're doing is they might say yes oh is not so there interjecting to let you know there listening actively listening even if they say something in agreement it does mean they agree okay i mean yeah but anyway back to the point i was making is when somebody hurts a guest and some house for the first time in you they say would you like some coffee and you say yes they don't ask you how you want to and they don't bring you the things to put cream and sugar in it they automatically put in cream and sugar because the first time as a guest in their house you should not have to think about how you want your coffee served from then on you can just make your own but the date alleviate the pressure from you even if he didn't want it that way and you accept it graciously because that's the generosity they're getting you to relieve you of the pressure of having to say would you please fix it this way oh wow cool yeah there's so many layers of complexity to japan's culture that's all that's a month that well that's a whole series of shows for next year while even a chef for a long time what would be something that in the year in the realm of being a master chef going from the being taught japanese in the office it was some french i carryover what what take your take you to your favorite style of the play setting now i thinks my love simplicity and food such il might my mother she stupid a lot of things but were really great fresh ingredients if it wasn't steered my father was a big fisher and fishman and hunter and so we had a lot of wild game he had we always had a ton of venison backstrap a lot of rabbits a lot of fish so everything is very simple when we went camping my father did take stuff for dinner he would hunted or efficient while a fish will also describe the pressure then a joke yeah yeah tv show now yesterday i really afraid survive as their grills at this time you shop for breakfast but you a loser it was very simple food so you take out lemons potatoes salt pepper and onion and so if if you cut trout then he to be slice of the potato and onion stuff inside with a couple of wedges lemon slices lemon salt-and-pepper and then wrap it will a pat of butter there wrapped up in tinfoil turn on the fire you know if there is other game to be had than it was you super simple or boiled potatoes and simple fixings and then salt-and-pepper on one of the game and so these really clean simple flavors for me i really would identify with any candidate that you can't really elevate that sure with a few adjustments but really being able to identify the main component like the center of the play item the protein if you can't taste what it's supposed to taste like i'm not sure what the point is sure will will today you just unit of joining us because you had just left a gigantic gathering that you are asked to basically help map out how do you know whenever you have so many mouths to feed that you know i'm going to be able to put together this coming plate to serve this this type of convention or do they give you parameters of what they do and don't want hello hello yeah so i'm to make so many development or menu yeah menu development or menu selection for any large parties very very critical because you have to think about if you have have multiple selections especially then what is the em what is the time to plate each item on a plated is his buffet mean all that comes into play i've done parties as large as 2100 people we get i work for a company in houston and we get a large plated dinner for the md anderson cancer research center answer hospital is so wheat we did 2100 people seated but the preparation for that took a week but nothing is really cooked until needed some things are made today before but not cooked until that day but all the proteins like all the tenderloins all the seabass so there are 1100 pieces seabass and 1400 piece of tenderloin while the kennels were hole we had to cut them i i had cut the measure but yeah that's that was we we all that gets cooked in ovens lined out inside of this big giant makeshift kitchen that's 20,000 ft.² and then we had 16 ovens in there like big commercial ovens do you feel like that your principles and how you wanted to live you want to deliver good health for people through the way that they eat that sometimes you get compromised because it gets so big yeah i mean hat so there are ways to dragon simplicity is number one pitcher and then limiting your your menu to items that fit your your desires and what you want to give to people and bring people in the hospitality industry you can't compromise that so only serving things that you may look for an alternate approaching so if they couldn't afford the that tenderloin we could do something like baseball saker you know tri-tip or something like that site to get a similar quality product just not as expensive i think that's that's part of the creativity that chefs have to work with nowadays is planning for and like an upcoming season we change menus to the four times a year restaurants so you're primarily doing this right now for your work also i do that yeah i mean ii will this is your this is my baby i want to get into that as this is how did you end up here doing a digital show but friend will talk about sorry love you so much anyway but the planning phase is really what it is yet to be very organized and there's a science to you know how many pieces everything you need what the portion sizes and what your standard batch size recipe see to scale that up although there can be complications or because salt doesn't scale directly other some other components like oil don't care they don't scale you know it's not exponential it's not like six times this equals that know if the scale somethings back and skipping some something so what i love about this is that you're talking zach the kind of leads into the first part of the show but this is how i cook i view it more as a science and i want to know what this and you're like i don't i didn't have a grandmother with a marble light in her mouth inside yeah so like now at the stage like i have a really i really enjoy quickbooks us all so excited that isabella went something cookbook i got bobby flay's cookbook which is that one on the quick side note is that the ill be like now add the sausage you like got it and then you turn to page 20 like that sauce is 50 and so there is a very famous book book called the the reese's gag gastronomy great and and there's another one by written by august escoffier who who really founded modern french cuisine right in the way that they cooking french kitchens and what happens it'll say like a cookie was a shock which is its sea scallops with marty athos or something right when he says cc the scalp recipe and it says okay now seat recipes 42 918 when you go to the buyer the year but is like 97 steps and then you have the mornay sauce is like when yeah whatever whatever size you are making is like 467 steps and you can't make it you can't story cold as beheld hot and fresh i mean it's just it's so complicated i was like okay that was go back on the shelf and maybe never adult ever dust the back off again i read it religiously 1000 cal you have a terrible cook and sometimes whenever i want to cook and i'm learning to tip these says certain things together if i see that there's a whole another mess of steps to make one ingredient i usually light which is not have any this it's it's changing out the menu the item is off the menu are going to do something well and that's part of the so i'll say on the show sometimes i don't i don't do show prep well i crept much better for life in restaurants than i do life on the radio sure and sometimes i get half with your essay like this make sense now that in the night so i spent a minute research demo i did next he read the recipe i just assume that this is what they meant because this is the type recipe so pre-reading the recipe knowing the ingredients in the methodology they're coming up are really important during the prep work will before we end up rounding out the last is our since you are one of the main producers for the spoony digital radio station we will get to why you ended up joining spoony half-hour basically talking about your journey on how to become a chef and where you been we learned that he spoke japanese and german hello the spanish and if he traveled and and it the age of five was able to close a cow: yes tied off time off dear: close to a man climbing up the oh my goodness that's like everything but the last half-hour makes me just feel bad about myself wanting you bring your homework for kindergarten and also to maybe climb the cow instead of a ladder knife in her hand and run around your neck you will tell us a little bit more about your journey now to rejoin here the next for some in the next half-hour you have moved into not just shiftwork but you've also been exploring cbd so i know you got a story behind it what in the world brought a chef is now on a digital radio station to explore cbd well just because he was my was my hero back in high school not really know because my my mother died in a diabetic appeared my father passed of pancreatic cancer and my mom died 01 and about that time i actually heard about that they discovered cbd and that was mid 80s i think when they discover that they were really starting to realize that while they made a big push medical cannabis was now legal in in california working on colorado and so i was just fascinated by that how that worked in the body i i don't like the psychotropic effects of of kinsey's audience is the antiaging specific because you know as a chef i always want to fill a coming control yeah that's that personality so i i really am i never really partook in it but when i found out about that that cds and how they affect the body i got became fascinated and so i just i got involved in a business that was related data in and i'm actually a partner in medical cannabis related business and in an tactic, and in massachusetts but we do a lot of really high cbd extremely low thc strains and stuff like that that's cool so my my experience the reason why i'm so into cds that you know i kinda had a heroes journey where i saw some incredible fact did you have anything like that happen yeah so i you and i think i cacti brushed over that little bit with my children but so my son and daughter have a i'm a 20 else on an essential daughter my son was 12 he kept having these ankle injuries playing soccer and he was trying to get into that a lick big development pool and kinda girl that way anyway so about the third time we took him in for ankle sprain in like six months we took him to specialist but i trust and she does i is really long high arches and his ankles are kinda rolled out he think he has cmt like cmt i don't cmts but so charcot-marie-tooth syndrome causes degradation of the neural pathways between and in the in extremity skin it causes type of neural what neuropathy peripheral neuropathy measure and what happens with that and that that the small muscles start to weaken the bone structure starts to deform so a lot of children or or adults with that with cmt will have like a limp wrist were that the wrist turns in and out a little that is truly painful it can be and will actually ache it can be painful but in this case you have to start to lose sensation so my son at 12 is about between 17 increased 18% deficient in the pass-through of you know the impulse from elbow to fingertips and needed toe okay so after testing their likely something that you can do just keep them strong become a fiscal therapy there's no treatment for its tenets genetic so over time my daughter started getting injuries and my son went off to a 2 am text dammit 18 and as as he was like a 18 a week i think his birthday just to curry start school and he was competitive tennis players i know you have a tennis person family and when a debtor where the antennas from the bottom that's right that's right that's right state championship anyway he was having ankle injuries there so when he came out of that that program the only thing i found i done thousands of hours of research looking for anything that could help them in the only true they say is stay strong be active don't get fat that's the three ways that you treat yourself boxers there's nothing else that they've known to to cause any actually to delay the effects of it if if if it is to progress further than staying strong and healthy and so he was very active but i found this this article the cds actually on that while website that i shared with you called echo connection.org and i did some reading i called some friends i talked to guy another dr. physician california anyway so i just i order my said look you take this twice a day and let see what happens and not only did his focus on his schoolwork away up and his grade started to get better six months let lesson six was later we took him to the texas anam research facility where they do studies on neck back and spine injuries but they also do some neural testing and things like neurological testing so first date they deliver the jet they did not look to the genetic marker on that wednesday we know he has it so what they did do a stated a more comprehensive testing on the neural pathways than he had originally the first two times and it was back to hundred percent so now before he was down he said 1718% he's probably got 25% by the time we took in it by the time he went at this time to be tested so i'm gonna kick that up and break something the results we got scolded for i now i do not migrate a hearing and i just want to be a rock star please not constant today this is my season recap though your son that the biggest change in imago simply does adding this evening i was the only change made the only change that was made in his diet and i was very very he's a very clean eater he actually started cooking his own food he was off his meal ticket at school and he saves on a very at enthusiastic weight training program that he designed himself and so but that was the only thing that changes diet and exercise regimen at all we will be look at this if you realize that charcot-marie-tooth syndrome affects the nerves and we know the cbd of the endo cannabinoid system is deeply rooted in the nerves then when that you start decreasing that inflammatory process and what i love is that you just said the key here is to changes.we know that food can be just like medicine and it can actually help out so here we have a college student it's on cbd and eating his own food not eating on diet plan that's amazing and he been well i mean an end at home he was a very clean eaters while he's like the one person the family does like desserts he won't eat cookie dough like anything with frosting on it very low sugar intake refined sugar like fruit didn't live on it measures none none that i'm aware of it i would like to ask a question he has them his hands and feet are always cold but he does have hair side of the follicles can't really thinking that you can go here with any without any ennui that i thought it might be circulatory service account because there's little knowledge syndrome 90 there were to get a little cold and you your it's an autoimmune it's component of autoimmune disease were your arteries sort of clampdown its interest is also a warning sign for autoimmune diseases top bring us more yeah and angry people all over the place have nods yet it's not uncommon you say it just kinda matter-of-fact all of a sudden you know she had 100% improvement there and you know it's one of those things where people hear the stories and you feel like you're being sold something but you say very genuinely it's like what's this thing that a difference in his life and that's why people are so passionate about cbd gasoline and like i have nothing to gain by telling so i don't not financially sure i'm not rr production facility is even open it were still the middle building it in our tech companies $14 million away from making money so if you want to join in the future of the industry go ahead but yeah there is that i just tell my story to share with people so what did you do when you did when whenever he told you how he felt and you knew that it was a real difference it wasn't it wasn't just subjective it was an objective improvement for him you mentioned his grade you mentioned his his mood is energy etc. so those are things as a parent i know that you would be able to easily perceive what did you want to do that information right off the bat and how did people receive it when you shared well immediately i started taking the product i started my daughter I and so because i want to know the effexor and audiology i for someone who is so well versed in the in the in the industry i don't take it on a regular basis i don't know why i have this it's just it just falls off the plate with so to speak when when i look at my daily supplementation but but so i put my daughter on it right away and then i went to a meeting with some people that were interested in cbd's there is a conference going on and i spoke i gave but i just told my sent store i told my story my son story from my perspective and then and i just type i have been an advocate ever since while we all have kids guessing your kids suffer from anything just well there's no way to ike i can't that's got me held that the greatest loss of for anyone ever is to lose a child but even when they're ill i mean or they don't feel w

More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music

Jesus turned the world upside down with his wisdom and teaching. He also rubbed a lot of people the wrong way -- especially religious people -- because He did things differently. "New Wine" by Hillsong Worship inspired me to explore a time when Jesus used new wine in a metaphor. Let's explore the gospels together to learn more. Not Equality in ALL Things (Equality under the Law) Philemon 15-16 and Galatians 3.23-38(29) As you may know, it has been more than two years since I became “the respondent” to complaints about my United Methodist ordination credentials because of my marriage to Jim Schlachter, my life companion for 31 years. The reactions to challenging unjust church law enshrined in the United Methodist Book of Discipline were expected and anticipated. I was prepared for most of the emotional roller coaster. Then, this past March, the North Central Jurisdiction Court of Appeals heard the appeal of the Church’s Counsel (think Prosecuting Attorney). They appealed the faithful dismissal by the West Ohio Committee on Investigation (think Grand Jury) of two of the three charges. They appealed the dismissals. In the hearing at the Jurisdictional Court of Appeals, both I and my counsel were refused voice or standing in the matters directly affecting my sexuality, marriage, ordination, and ministry. They justified it by the policies and practices that flowed out of the Book of Discipline. They denied me fair process. I was betrayed by UM leaders, disciples of Jesus, and reasonable people. I felt betrayed by the book and by the church. You know it, too, through T.C.’s experience and those who’ve gone before her. It has been made clear there is no equality for me or same gender loving people in denominational law. Betrayal is a sad, all-too-frequent, human reality. Filmmaker Ava DuVernay, in her documentary 13TH, explores the history of race and the criminal justice system in the United States. The film's title refers to the 13th  Amendment which freed those held in slavery in the U.S. and prohibited slavery except as punishment for a crime. In other words, it granted freedom to all Americans, except criminals. There's the loophole, written into the 13th Amendment, embedded in the Constitution. It has been used in the historic criminalization of black people and the incarceration patterns that flow from it and the extremist white supremacist activism that leans on it. The betrayal of African-Americans was laid once again in the exception and then entrenched in policies and practices. That’s not equality, that’s criminal! We, United Methodists, also know the implications of fine print!! As long as homosexuality is defined in our church law as “incompatible with Christian teaching,” elected church representatives will concoct demeaning definitions of same gender loving people, establish harmful unjust policies, and develop practices of enforcement to sustain them. As long as homosexuality is described as “incompatible with Christian teaching,” same-gender loving disciples will be betrayed by the book, the church, its leaders, its systems, its pastors, and its congregations. There is NO EQUALITY as long as it remains. In Tony Kushner’s script and Steven Spielberg’s movie, Lincoln, Thaddeus Stevens, who is played by Tommy Lee Jones, was part of a concerted radical strategy to get the Thirteenth Amendment passed and thus abolish slavery in the United States in 1865. The radicals of the day strategized to avoid inflammatory questions about racial equality (namely the full-enfranchisement of voting rights for African-Americans). In order to secure much needed moderate and conservative votes, they withheld that position from the discussion. The vigorous debate in the House of Representatives was transcribed in the Congressional Record. With the poetic license of the movie’s author and director, the key moment was captured like this. Stevens is challenged on the floor of the House to answer the accusation of Representative George Pendleton that supporters of the Thirteenth Amendment believe in equality of African-Americans, slaves and free, in all things including voting. Stevens responds with sarcastic vigor, then thunders at his accuser, “Even you, Mr. Pendleton, deserve equality under the law.” And then to the entire House, “Therefore, again, and again, and again, I say, ‘I do not hold in equality in all things, only equality under the law.’” The House erupts with cheers and jeers. This speech prompts Mary Todd Lincoln who is observing from the balcony in the House gallery to indicate her concurrence with Steven’s point in a remark to her black dressmaker, Elizabeth Keckley. Keckley abruptly excuses herself and angrily leaves. For Keckley, anything less than equality in all things, was equality with an exception. Both Stevens and Mrs. Lincoln betrayed her that day. History shows us Keckley was right. We, United Methodists, know the same when friends and allies stop short of full inclusion and fall short of justice for queer persons, their families, congregations, and pastors. Despite a variety of lived experiences and a diversity of practice across the connection, especially as you experience it here at Foundry United Methodist Church and among other Reconciling United Methodists, all of us are tempted to excuse ourselves angrily and leave!!! Yet we stay. And we fight. And we do what some call “Biblical Obedience” which others call “Ecclesial Disobedience and Covenant Breaking.” Today, we, United Methodists are fighting for and about PEOPLE, no dismissive issue! We are fighting about whether LGBTQ+ people should, on the basis of human dignity and worth, have full rights, responsibilities and respect in our church communities. We, lgbtq+ United Methodists, 1) know only second class citizenship as baptized members. We may not marry our loves in our own sanctuaries. 2) We know only diminished access as called leaders and clergy. We are denied lay and clergy leadership roles, OR encouraged to seek our calling elsewhere OR counseled to live in a closet. 3) We know the personal judgmental assault on our humanity and sexuality. We are the topic of debate without participation, the object of punishment without voice. Yes, we beat our breasts. Yes, we cry out “How long, O Lord?” The book and institution have become an imprisoning force. Where is our Christ? But our greatest betrayal lies beyond us and is even deeper than our own. For us, we know in our bones and in our spirit, that it is the gospel that the United Methodist denomination has betrayed! Into this 50 year struggle for United Methodists, especially in our unique historical context in the United States, ancient and Biblical Philemon has given me vision and courage. Despite its brevity, twenty-five verses on a single page of the Bible, this letter is a profoundly human gift in scripture. When Paul is imprisoned in Ephesus, he is held in custody with Onesimus who becomes more than just another prisoner to Paul. He becomes Paul’s spiritual companion during their shared incarceration which shapes and forms them both. After a time, Paul sends free Onesimus home to Philemon. Now Philemon was the former master of Onesimus who had been enslaved because of indebtedness. Philemon had slammed the door behind Onesimus when he ran away. Upon release from prison, Onesimus was reluctant and afraid to return to that environment. So, Paul writes a letter carried, delivered, and presented by Timothy to Philemon in early faith community in Colossae as a means of re-introduction between Onesimus, Philemon, and the community. This original letter is relevant today because it brings to the center one who has been marginalized. It is the living expression of marginalized and otherwise invisible Onesimus. In this narrative, he stands bravely, freely, and willingly next to Timothy as the letter is read to the congregation in public meeting. During the reading, Onesimus stands as emissary with the letter and watches the faces of those in the congregation who are cheering or jeering his life and faith. This is not Joseph of the Multi-colored Coat standing alone in prison, sensing the presence of the Holy in quiet, desperate isolation. This is not Paul or Silas together in a jail in Philippi, energized by their activist experience, arrest, and singing. No, this is Onesimus, the freed prisoner, returned runaway, now disciple of Christ who is the lead character in his own proclamation of the gospel. Here is the gospel in Paul’s answer to inequality: Onesimus. “No longer a slave, but brother.” That’s the Christian answer to inequality. Onesimus. No longer separated, second-class, diminished, or criminalized! In Christ, each one of us becomes a sibling of Christ in the household of God. In baptism, we are named as Beloved Children of God, siblings to one another. In conversion and confirmation, we claim Christ as our own and are claimed as Christ’s very own. Not equality in all things, EQUALITY IN THIS! Equality in Christ! Freedom and liberation in this Beloved Community! It is not about the charity, patronage, or inclusiveness of Paul OR the transformation, conversion, repentance of Philemon BUT about the particular person, gifts, graces, call, mission, and ministry of Onesimus! When we see it in our queer selves, when others stand with us, we rise! Not just for our lives and loves, not just for ALL people, but freely for Christ and for the Gospel. As Galatians 3:28 interprets, “In Christ there is no division, Jew and non-Jew, slave and free, male and female, among us all are equal.” With, in, and through baptism “in Christ”, you are equal to one another within that community. We are no longer under a custodian, but equal! Philemon, the person, is a perfect test case. As we have seen, Paul sent Onesimus back to Philemon so that Philemon might – that is, must – freely recognize Onesimus by voluntarily fulfilling his own baptismal commitment. Christians cannot be equal and unequal to one another at the same time. Philemon is directed by Paul to live in a completely new kind of relationship with Onesimus in all aspects of their lives. The former habits of their relationship and the power imbalances of it must now change in the house, in the congregation, in the economics of the market, and in the politics of the square. That’s what the General Conference in February 2019 has before it. When the people called-Methodist and its elected representatives freely recognize the equality granted by Christ to lgbtq+ disciples and voluntarily fulfill their baptismal covenant to them, they will and must remove “the incompatibility” clause! Equality under the law! As of old, it is still today, with this radical good news. This gospel is so radical that the church at large has as yet refused to pay it any attention. Therefore, we are called to see ourselves not only as Onesimus but also as privileged and powerful Philemon. There are those among us today and within the United Methodist Church and our Reconciling traditions we do not treat as equal and free. They stand like Onesimus before us. Therefore, we must also face our privilege and power. We are Philemon and have betrayed our own baptismal promises 1) in relationship to women and People of Color, (We have not kept the promises we professed.), 2) in relationship to UM’s from across the continent of Africa in all their diversity (We have minimized their agency, dishonored their faith, and judged the “colonialized” gospel that “we” taught.), and 3) in relationship to lgbtq+ (We have not stopped the harm or held to the full equality and freedom of the gospel we profess.). For our own integrity and credibility, we are invited to make the necessary changes in ourselves for equality and freedom. Paul calls Philemon to renounce his privilege and be willing to suffer loss, both socially and economically. To give up his rights to collect a debt and punish an estranged runaway slave, Philemon must imitate Christ’s own willingness to give up his equality with God. It is personal, not private. It is a public matter, and everyone is watching. Which pushes us to the last challenge? We are also called to be Paul who wrote this missive while in prison for the gospel in Rome when he sent Onesimus back with his letter to Philemon. Paul declared freedom for all while in prison. Was Paul in chains because of the gospel or did the gospel itself put Paul in chains? You see even in freedom we are in chains. So the question is, “Has the UMC put us in chains because of the gospel or has the gospel put us in chains because of the UMC?” Will our love of Christ and practice of love and equality toward all persons bring the UMC to constrain us? It may try. Will the UMC constrain us because of our brave commitment to Equality for ALL? It may try. But we stay and bear witness, not for equality in all things, but boldly for EQUALITY in the Gospel. That’s what makes the church whole and that’s the mission of the church. It is about us, because it is about the GOSPEL! And it’s a pretty good gift for the 23rd anniversary of becoming a Reconciling Congregation. Here’s to another year, and another, and another . . .

found interesting because i'm turning on linkedin and i haven't really been figuring out how to get more organic reach out there but you have a lot of people that commented on that site i got to see what how here's my impression of linkedin's newsfeed it's like it's like a recruiter going like hey i got a $55,000 job of law and then the next person i want to do a sketch that were on a bar basically the next one it's there's a story about failure and redemption but it's a real humble rag marketing thing since i two years ago i lost everything in picture this my eye was the breadwinner in my house my my wife and kids my parents were living with us i it was all on me and then two years later i figured it out and i want to show you how to do it to him like rights that's next thing after that some might nonsense business coach and then after that another quote and then another failure story and that's like basically the whole feed i don't know if it's the same for you but i guess it depends on your network.you see a lot of you see especially be the new thing i just i think is again a way to game the algorithm but it's like want to text with a hook because it cuts off the rest the taxes like click on the hook and then that makes you appear more people search yeah i try to do that it's like i try to asterix stuff if i need like put more detail into it but i want as people last night i try to figure how to do it and is like zero people commented on it but i wanted to see how i really have like a stick up my ass about people getting ripped off with digital services and it really is a really funky bothers me that this industry it is very snake oil-ish i would say hey were going to get you this amana trafficker this amount of revenue for this amount of leads and there's a subject gap education gap of the staff which we try to go way overboard educating clients but man i'm about to go like wwe wrestler like just calling out the shed does that mean there's a ton of its i think it's carryover from my way back down on you guys a bit individual but like dear member have these like add rotators so gunmen advertisers would pay for impressions maddie's whole like click or not click public impression for and is the same thing now i've heard of some people using lean even wilmington pay to play where they have like a group of people they all growing up however much and then everybody, thereby suppose but like what's the point what's the endgame that's gonna get you mean i think if you have a book something that is some kind of product you can sell i don't have a final and you get i get a lot of life marketing funnel funnel for the final list that you do add here's my free e-book and then you click on it's like all upsell affiliate link to click funnels are yeah yeah if you knew how to do it all the time why are you doing it to other marketers i really see a lot of words like the coach you on how to a million cells just let me sell to you right right weren't you doing what you're supposed be doing return to tel aviv to do it and i tell clients know this stuff elliptically or from what notice to you right like type there is little real estate guys to do that like to teach and sell real estate flipping come to my seminar it's like marion holiday inn express 9 am free continental breakfast that they give them about those one down update so i try to explain everything in old-school terms to people to clients that are not tech savvy at all and i might like but were not the online world is not that original if anything it's way more repetitive than anything else in the world a copy it's like copy business whatever someone's doing overhearing a copy that do it in a different little bit different way the faster yeah i just i haven't spoken i was thing about the other nights can really test like how many people we talk to that almost everybody that comes to us has had a bad experience already and like oh yeah this sco company they promised me a lot of traffic i got nothing and i paid him 50 grand a year and it's a like a local business like a lot of money for that's a lot of money but generally company under just you messing them up like and in the shockingly bad as the clock the client that just blindly sign with these people we never get the first time around give us a blind sign when i know well send the sins of the grant here will yeah we we can do so much for directors of local business but it's one of the things were i figured centering the digital marketing world and guess you had a similar thing going on so basically what i have going on is just type them in like attitude towards a lot of that story is like a decent guy the few times we talked nebulous about you but i think the so under the law rachel my posters because i try to create authentic connections an interesting concept so you know i'm not trying to sell business coaching services to business coaches or anything like open something about time travel up there for all a good example is one of the things i'm working on now if you have told you about its just let me know what when you got here for about 50 mentors are not connected that out but concise yet that's good all but one thing working right now is trying to figure out what makes people say yes i why the people convert like if he is her conversion rate optimization so there's a lot of companies out there that can assail their formula and that's place to do this i got my start in marketing in jacksonville and that is crazy formula that was nobody's ever to remember it was i remember it but it's c equals 4m plus 3v -2 it's long i had of the variables being built just like conversion motivation to write down conversion motivation incentive friction anxiety and another company called washing wonderful to have a similar one the lift model the value proposition is is a airplane is growing your you're right your likelihood to convert but i can one called the crave methodology and so basically some sexy pain i got market marketing should be set to rise in the market in the marketing stuff you're doing should have good marketing terms like turkey burgers logo in the mm's fire so close on the name of all that is good nobody ever gets it right will everything wrong you know how to help you i don't know what held up her yeah i don't know how to read we should talk about me always a little about what i mean is indian tribes is like who knows so little white man's literal work go in the temperate temperament sticks of fire hence the fire look so end and we sit around like run a campfire, planning should out that's that's a whole brand world figure depreciated renting thanks man but the credit methodology so you've got a situation where you want somebody to say yes or to do some certain actions like your example you the postop and you want to get some feedback from written so there's each letter has elements of art is a reason what's the what's the reason that the person is in that decision-making mindset why are they only did what was the reason her motivation for being there yet understand that the next element is action and what's the action that you want them take asking them to do it so is a clear all in the v is the value proposition slight what's in it for them i'm writing this down okay i think it's fine if that's all right i was what is at work on the book but it will probably take me 12 years her head hits a fly onslow hide a lot of projects in the far right but all that is experience like everything else on linkedin's know it's is it spelled correctly formatted right stuff to catch their all for web conversion it's no it doesn't work the father but on so like what's in it what was see so see so first first of all you get those for you can have something that gets people raving about what you're doing on see is that connection so that authentic human connection that's what i say makes people crave were you doing and come back again and again i feel like that is a lot of youtube celebrities are very good at that right after making the site i don't of log is still term but there it looks like there there looking there i line is directly at the lynn's so it looks like you're talking to the persons like you have a friend right it's digital but it feels authentic yeah except i like watching tv it's different when they're talking at you but wish to look at the camera i mean i can if you want you didn't like close-ups is automatically doing it so that's good sometimes it will just hit that like that paying of me when us to yeah yeah man pretty good pot but by god you listeners break but you know the whole thing out i guess the the value in it formulated so it's a way to analyze what you're doing yeah what you're putting out there and you can visit with clients as well but how do you how you analyze like you know i give value proposition similes are hard to quantify right yeah here's a good example this is just a heuristic it's a mental shortcut for whatever you're trying to make the situation happen so let's say you're in a bar and your goal on how they were all married but was pre-college years okay all your daydreaming now they drew his time trying to serve her time traveling back in time the precollege hop if a company go to the bar and there's a young lady that you're interested in all your conversion goal is also to get her home so you can get to know her better so far first c is for consent so are you first learn to you have suffered enough from the universe and what to reason to be there to pick up on different cues like notice from initial conversation as she can look around to see what she wants to meet other people in my garden with a wall of her friends when offense of line is that exactly all that is left to shape the new how easy it is to pursue this this pickup i guess you say yeah all and in the value light what is what i think now you okay my favorite baby in a what what is she valuing it just as she introduced both new skills to finally go for me for the wrong prospect okay on experiencing a is there is orval drunk in its back in time before ever existed lower even to get home when there's a number of different things that you can analyze the situation to figure out what you need to influence to i just kind of funny ifi would try to run through a method be like that yeah in my panties that were certainly the analytical warrior like in other scenarios because i don't feel like this is out when you actually applied mcclure maybe didn't design articulated i mean it this probably is spent sitting in your craw for a while the way to you that you're looking at this right because again online is not that different from off-line i don't think it will you explaining it to us is not the same as you running through it in your head speed because you're used to doing you know i got the same thing because we have no idea what you're getting to yes i guess that's the thing is that it's heuristics are like that because you can run through quickly so it's probably largely explain in person and it is run through yeah it does it would make you feel over analytical or whatever yeah i mean we can talk about that without using the cool term heuristic but it's just like what can we do and have snapshot kind of decision-making, working on that slowly you know, get dashboards that just okay here's were at today just know the lifeblood of the company kind of stuff and that's similar kind of thing and in a way because not to tell us exactly how good we are it's good to give us, were in between the nautical beacons three premade decision sort of failure it's like yeah will in the situation we already know this is what to do sort of thing yeah the fit lessening the variables what do you see in the digital marketing universe connect what you think anything you think about augmented reality staff virtual-reality stuff what you think the next kind bigger thing will be i feel like amazon google facebook have such a stronghold over most of the internet it's really interesting to come to see the corporate consolidation of everything but well from a digital marketer standpoint what he thinks it'll be like the next, platform to conduct market either advertisers that kind of holistic marketing approach like coat craves more of that figure strategy kinda meets tactics idea of i think the i think it was all just launch there go stores yeah like yesterday's yellow line was, ironically around the block away from people don't go to the grocery store that does have is supposed to not have any lines but had a fecund my thinking yank the guard because years but nice and everything censored as you pick it up it'll john michael charge you as you walk out with amazon pay or whatever is but i guess that i see that being one of the for the big shifts that we see in marketing is how do you you go ahead have the friction moment in a transaction and how to go and set that up with a customer so it doesn't exist anymore looking that's with her after where are you going to the store you get what you want to leave you doing think about the purchase you will have that awkward buyer's remorse and so maybe you get your credit card bill it's good way to think about that or you have the talking i hate i hate the underselling i sign it i'll add mad jack audio drop buttons and find dad mad him out of the stew i bet when you're the grocery store and the like and you can't get test right there at the grocery store you checking out there like would you like to donate a dollar to kid to click pallets in life will i look i'll do it on my own because i want the tax write off i have said this before just like yeah and after the railroad job i mean i hate that light but it then you feel it should if you don't do it is not i don't do a better thing i'm over that i do my own journey by cantilever troops in my words what the fark i know you were no troops worse than that there is like some visitors restored my wife is from germany and she gets like really a quotable man is merely small talk some of the grocery store there like buying anything super you tonight you talking well you have said about my time some bad ass chocolate cakes at her no never had german chocolate cake i bet it's not a business setting from germany what i have no idea pogo asked but that seems like the sort of thing the unit implementing because if there's a german bakery in south tampa is wrong with this home but anyway so that's the key to jennings are trying to get rid of curves that whole awkward because that's part of the experience part of the crate methodology it's it's those moments where it's like you have and you have the likelihood to turn around and say i want to do this i will like if you're a person a client were there some way that you can just make it where they don't have to sign the paperwork and sounded online, that's always an excuse but there's there's new digital ways to to get around that light mover for example like they set it up at the beginning and after that you just the cx line experience customer trip on experience yeah we think about that a lot but at the same time art are big thing as i see it going forward his transparencies in this industry can happen i think a lot more especially with pricing like it's wild west out there that's that's part of the reason people can get ripped off all the time because they don't know how much stuff cost and should cost german chocolate cake was made by samuel german and american i went there to determine bakeries right all adults start backtracking now i totally called it the way you look at every meal german chocolate cake the guys name was samuel german was determined doesn't matter so much american chocolate maker but you know alex guys back me up okay folks from the united states he found on reddit drink on wikipedia yeah you read it it's like the national archive i found a fortune which i know that i must've i don't know maybe you were there already and and maybe maybe the way to get that fourth dimension is love for talking just to bring in interstellar chicken scotch interstellar the cake i digital marketing wise i feel like transparency is getting to more more to me morally i feel like it's kind of our duty to really even though reply lose a lot now you know in the early stages of this firm but i feel like long-term debt that will pay dividends and buy trust a lot of people mi things like i can't sleep before ripping someone off to anything but i feel like a lot of people dislike batson 1790 does it yeah is a big deal for the business but w is a good point i think it's even like thinking of surveys conversion rate optimization company that's a relatively new digital marketing field but a lot of them though approach big corporations mostly well we can run a test and get you a lift can we just had 10% of that lives because that's you know it's pretty transparent there's a deal but let's say they get an extra million dollars that would've been there there's a new 10% of a big chunk of change that's that's a sliding scale tombs based on performance on the think performance-based results are to be a lot bigger in the future site as they should be should been all along i think standardization of terms these happen somehow that that's the hardest part of communicating all the stuff like what is a conversion meeting so like some people don't understand like knowing your lead though someone filling out a form as a lead that your conversion that i yeah but we didn't didn't give us any money that i know that's not the main objective for you as a service business for marketing people on my email so it's that it's tough it's tough because i talked a lot of people go how much you how much does it lead cost you and the like no other idea like i have an interesting marketing like it in so i will go crazy when dad show you my totem pole kind of idea how to look at all.i finished this this yet it's pretty it's it's all up in this this five had fallen under the san antonio whole maybe to do a better job of explaining that i did my craig wrote now that is way more convoluted again located yes pants off every time as well that i get sweaty sweat equity yet the legs will blank you were that all the powers from right so you know i get really hot and like little feverish and then i have to close off so that's what happens anything else dana point people to anything i forgot to bring up all of them you can follow along with the time trouble stuff it time travelers.org right now is that my passion project try to learn audiences because like i don't know anything about doctor who leslie one of the biggest groups so this like sunday in tampa florida thursday tom ward fist so volunteered with i just want to check this world out did you gotta come back on my next month yet i want to hear about like you have an open invite by the way my legs were down the street to cool this is the show's messy pragmatic business advice a lot of it is digital marketing stuff to do because a lot of people if they're doing their side passion thing you know i make in an antique store that they need advice in that direction so next to me, me will will do like a mailbag or some butter but yeah i mean i want to hear the progression of this truth i know the last thing i want to ask about is a facebook group so we we need to do it for our sweat equity page because i think that be a good area to drum up discussion and if you invite people they automatically get added right so there will be careful of what why that one is the one you want to make a lot of people how we talk about the christmas party is yeah i mean by now through all my friends on their been doing comedy for 12 years promoting shows and stuff i think they know i'm kind of a horror with all the stuff but at the same time i.e. was it the other people that are like i know you're doing it that you like i feel like this is all i post about anything so it's tough but another the group is absolutely the way to go because everybody is a page of yeah i don't know if you saw the recent news and digital facebook it is much making it almost impossible to reach your audience through your page without paying for the post so groups is going the last holdout that's where everybody's got them migrating their strategies but they've already doubled back on that according to iphone cat how i don't if you see her she's like a facebook advertiser it she's a good person to follow because shall give an update every week of the stuff that's going on so it's like a i like it she could for me to come to know what what's going on already know how to do a lot of that advertising but you know what that something changes everything is but i usually don't have people with a huge following anyway so we usually have people that have a small following we go ads like crazy but the groups it creates engagement what have you seen out of it because some of the ones in there really trying to sell you something sneak them in their now let's let me that's the whole experience part two you you have to have interesting topics that your people in that community are in the audience are interested in and you can't just say oh way i could easily with those 20,000 people say about his t-shirt about time travel every third poster something but like that's cannot alienate people and eventually is going to kill the engagement from the group yeah i think you're seeing the whole movement of like like good content is habitat for your blog or social outlets all that stuff always goes back to the content every time you just try to try to do don't try to game the system that's what this can i see a guy strategy is the size of a marketing company mounted the consulting back in the day all and articles golden rule marketing do onto others as you 72 years and that's something that's a good rule about i agree i think we'll see more kind of a meeting to get to net neutrality which i kind wanted to but will do it another time we've been we've been shoving it off for months why fight it, it's not, it's going away what i meant yeah what is it me talk about it a little bit but what are you got you got a ball, but we got some other work to do things coming on and i we went to church and how we can both teachers in our get-together targeting is one okay running to be what about the people listening they were to pay for so were so one of the parties work on is the one time travelers.org were to be launching a online time trouble museums or interstellar billing to all the things we talked about will have a breakdown but also store speak about the impress your friends with your knowledge and you do rent double unity big cartel not they were working to do is probably to start our lives was a cold printable or think yeah this way it's basically an order it'll dropship it in the print windows just don't get the hands pvt please do not always go straight alternative apparel yeah yeah you nice that's it yeah i only reason i wear the shirts write every day of my life american apparel center seven of them some good i think for, no man and you know i can't wait defection time travel i'm excited she can can i just have to maybe earned it so i suit you did there did they really get into that more is you did do a more fun

We’re living in exciting times. Today, if you have an idea as well as a small budget, you can most likely create it. This is particularly true in the technology space, which is why we’ve seen the explosion of IoT devices on the marketplace. However, what’s uncertain is the byproduct of our enthusiastic making, innovating, and disrupting. Hypothetical questions that used to be debated on the big screen are questions we’re now debating on our podcast. Will we be able to maintain an appropriate level of privacy within our homes? What are some positive and negative applications of a new technology? Should we extinguish our identification cards so that we can authenticate with biometrics? On this week’s Inside Out Security Show, Cindy Ng, Kilian Englert, Kris Keyser and Mike Buckbee weigh in on these pressing questions. Happiness Isn’t All It’s Cracked Up To Be This week we are talking about Angel… THE SERIES! Angel was a spin-off of Buffy and followed the world’s saddest puppy vampire Angel around Los Angeles as he “fights the good fight”. We also look at the last new trailer for Rogue One, due in theaters December 16th. Rogue One Final Trailer Angel (1999) Synopsis Angel is an American television series, a spin-off from the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The series was created by Buffy’s creator, Joss Whedon, in collaboration with David Greenwalt. It aired on The WB from October 5, 1999, to May 19, 2004, consisting of five seasons and 110 episodes. Like Buffy, it was produced by Whedon’s production company, Mutant Enemy. The show details the ongoing trials of Angel, a vampire whose human soul was restored to him by gypsies as a punishment for the murder of one of their own. After more than a century of murder and the torture of innocents, Angel’s restored soul torments him with guilt and remorse. During the first four seasons of the show, he works as a private detective in Los Angeles, California, where...
