Initially attempting to rationalize his issues through science, he recounts a recent emotional release after prayer, leading to uncertainty about faith and reason. Host Stefan guides the caller in exploring the roots of his distress, tracing feelings of dread from childhood related to a volatile relationship with his mother and the ineffective protection from his father. Lindsay Boudreau had a very rare underlying illness, CMT Disease, that meant she had weakened sensations in her feet, and so she couldn't feel the pain of an infection caused by a nail she had stepped on, one day while walking. Over many weeks, she became very ill, and very weak, and doctors simply couldn't find what was wrong with her until it was too late. Eventually, on realizing the spreading infection could kill her, they took steps to amputate. Lindsay is a beacon of hope for those who are living life after limb loss, and even has a coaching business, helping other limb loss survivors and other medical trauma survivors, by building hope and resilience and practicing mindfulness and wellbeing. He is now actively challenging the FDA to update the labeling on SSRIs (commonly known as antidepressants), due to their potential impact on fetal development. But keep in mind, this conversation is not just for pregnant women. It is for anyone who has ever trusted a prescription, followed medical advice without question, or wondered why our healthcare system continues to spend more while producing some of the worst outcomes among developed nations. In this episode, we explore: • The real risks of antidepressant use during pregnancy • What the science actually says and why it is often buried • How regulatory bodies and pharmaceutical companies shape the narrative • Why informed consent is more critical than ever • How the system is working for profits, not healthThis episode is a must-listen for anyone who wants to make truly informed choices about their body, their healthcare, and their family.Connect with Dr. Adam Urato: • Learn more about Dr. Adam Urato on X Connect with Vanessa and the show:All My Favorites + Exclusive Discounts: Linktree Podcast on Instagram: @well.with.vanessaVanessa on Instagram: @thegiftofgoodsVanessa on Threads: @thegiftofgoodsPodcast on YouTube: @IntentionallyWellPodcastPodcast on TikTok: @well.with.vanessaPodcast on X (Twitter): @wellwithvanessaEmail: intentionallywellpodcast@gmail.comSupport the showPodcast Website: Intentionally Well with Vanessa LopezThis episode is for informational purposes only. Today's episode is a tale of two archetypes: the Productivity Power User who color-codes their calendar like it's a Kandinsky painting… and the Procrastinating Professor Slayer who tells himself he'll fix it tomorrow—which, incidentally, is always today when it arrives. Pete, whose relationship with task management involves quad-wielding to-do apps like a productivity warlock, faces off with Tommy, who uses his iPhone calendar like a grocery list taped to a parking meter.Together, they dismantle performative productivity (spoiler: it's emotional self-gaslighting with better fonts), unpack procrastination as an anxiety-fueled death spiral in a trench coat, and lovingly roast each other's ritualistic self-sabotage. There's a chilling tale of Franz Ferdinand, a beeper, and the exact moment the world spiraled into World War I. And if that doesn't scream “calendar hygiene matters,” then friend, you might already be scheduling your next collapse. This episode has everything: analog clock superiority, digital tool delusion, ADHD-fueled shame spirals, the dopamine hit of “not today,” and possibly the best joke ever made about lawn maintenance. It's not just a podcast episode. It's a panic productivity intervention disguised as comedy. Season Ending Episode!! Season 5 Episode 10' is a RAP!!! Always a bitter sweet moment, it's like I don't want to leave you guys but resets are important. To end this season, we welcomed my cousin Hector Naranjo. He basically is my childhood friend but more like my brother. Hector surprised me, with his vulnerability and openes to share his story but how he owned his actions. He shared how he didn't feel guilty when doing the hurtful actions, that in his mind… he was a “good guy”, which in reality he is a good guy but was making wrong decisions. I admired how he took accountability, Hector shared that he was cheating on his girlfriend, didn't know, much less understood the damage and hurt he caused her and so many around them. This took him to start looking inward and ask questions like… “why did I do that?, why do I feel alone?, where did all my money go? And more. Family, I'm telling you…. This is such a great episode. Topics we discussed are; cheating/ lying, fighting addictions beer, depressions, material things, to losing his mother at 19 years (Hector), and quitting his job to follow Christ. The stories dont just stop there. Hector has so much wisdom that an hour episode will do no justice but it will give you insight of the heart he carries. People think the mistakes define a person, but… God says “your sin is forgiven and I love you, ______” He calls you by your name and no shame. It was a pleasure recording this episode for you guys… please connect with us. My email is Themaceffect19@gmail.com for all questions and inquiries. I promise you this will bless you. How do I know, because my God word is never void. My (our) prayer for this season 5, Dear God, gives us the wisdom to hear and listen with attention, patience and the will to accept what is for me (us). I ask that you develop and grow me (us) as individuals, so that I (we) can be of a blessings to those around us, family, friends and all relationships in between. I have faith and strongly believe this season 5 will be of impact and create memorable moments. Bring… change, challenge, and healing. The MAC Effect is in your hands, grow it, use it, this is yours. I pray for the mission statement to be: “Helping / Leading hurt people, to hope. In heart, mind, body and spirit” but open to change if you please to do so. Hollywood doesn't exactly have a stellar track record when it comes to portraying mental illness in a sensitive, honest, and appropriately complex way (think Psycho or the notorious caffeine pill episode of Saved by the Bell). But the top show on Netflix right now, Ginny & Georgia went to great lengths to show mental health conditions honestly. The series tells the story of Georgia, a mother with a traumatic background, Ginny, her daughter with a habit of self-harming, and it includes characters such as a neighbor boy and Ginny's love interest, Marcus, with a persistent major depressive disorder. Show creator Sarah Lampert talks with us about how, with the help of a doctor of psychology and consulting from the advocacy group Mental Health America, she and her creative staff were able to tell honest stories that were moving without being exploitive or sensationalized.Thank you to all our listeners who support the show as monthly members of Maximum Fun.Check out our I'm Glad You're Here and Depresh Mode merchandise at the brand new merch website MaxFunStore.com!Hey, remember, you're part of Depresh Mode and we want to hear what you want to hear about. You love the gym and it's been your sanctuary away from your stress for years. But what if your go-to stress relief tool is now part of the problem?  In today's episode, we dive deep into why intense workouts might be silently burning you out rather than building you up. If you've been feeling exhausted, foggy, or stuck despite training hard, this one's for you. We explore why cardio and high-intensity workouts only offer temporary relief from mental stress and how they can actually strain your nervous system when your cortisol is already tapped out. I'll share what's really going on when your “post-workout high” feels amazing in the moment but leaves you drained long-term.  More importantly, you'll learn five powerful, science-backed stress management tools that rebuild your system instead of depleting it. From daily walks to somatic resets and nervous system journaling, this episode is all about redefining strength.  Because true power isn't in pushing harder: it's in knowing when to rest. Breaking the Stigma: Grace Ogren on Depression, Ketamine Therapy & the Truth About Healing

    Healthy Mind, Healthy Life

In this deeply human and research-informed conversation, clinical research specialist Grace Ogren joins Avik Chakraborty to unpack the complexity of depression and how it's commonly misunderstood. From her personal experience with chronic suicidality and psychiatric treatment to her work with emerging therapies like ketamine, Grace speaks candidly about the real barriers to healing, the misconceptions around antidepressants, and why access—especially in rural areas—remains a critical issue. This is not a conversation about quick fixes but about how healing actually unfolds—messy, nonlinear, and courageous. About the Guest:Grace Ogren is a mental health researcher, writer, and clinical research specialist at Recovery.com. Drawing from both professional expertise and lived experience, Grace brings clarity to complicated mental health topics, including depression, suicidality, psychiatric stigma, and the therapeutic potential of ketamine. She's committed to making mental healthcare more honest, informed, and accessible. Key Takeaways: Depression isn't just sadness—it's a complete shift in how the brain functions, and it affects every aspect of daily life. Ketamine therapy, while not a cure, can provide relief when traditional medications fail, helping patients access deeper therapeutic healing. There's still significant stigma surrounding psychiatric medication—Grace urges we treat it no differently than taking meds for any other chronic condition. Rural communities face serious mental health care shortages, making telehealth a vital bridge. Medications aren't Band-Aids; they're tools that can help stabilize someone enough to benefit from deeper therapy and recovery work.
