On this episode of Vibin' & Kinda Thrivin', I'm joined by YouTuber and host of Toni Bryanne TV Podcast and The Decision Podcast; Toni Bryanne, for a no-filter deep dive into the chaos of modern life. We're talking everything from the rise (and fall) of ethical journalism in the age of AI to why Gen Alpha can't read, and how misinformation is warping our collective empathy. We get into the Sydney Sweeney bathwater situation, the oversexualization of women in media, and whether it's possible to reclaim power through sex work or if the marketing is just getting lazy.Plus, we're going in on modern dating, emotional unavailability, choosing peace over partnerships, and why women in their 30s are living their best, most intentional lives. And of course, we wrap with a Spill the Tea that had both of us yelling “drop him off at his mom's!” If you've ever felt like you're changing faster than the world can keep up, this one's for you.Subscribe to Toni's ChannelFollow Toni On InstagramTo write in your own Spill The Tea For Therapy submission email Alessandra at vibinandkindathrivin@gmail.com.Follow Alessandra @vibinwithabgTo support the show please check out the sponsors!Earnin': Download Earnin today on the google play and apple app stores.Shopify: Start your $1 a month trial period at shopify.com/vibinSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In today’s episode of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show Podcast, we dig into the anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles, where streets leading to federal buildings were blocked as demonstrators reacted to recent ICE raids. The federal response included deploying over 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines—a move Governor Newsom called an abuse of power. Despite widespread arrests and violence, many protesters emphasize the militarized response fueled instead of quelled the unrest. We also revisit the 2025 BET Awards with reporter “Gary with the Tea,” who highlights standout moments like Mariah Carey’s nightclub-themed set, Leon Thomas’s breakthrough win, and the emotional Ultimate Icon tribute to Jamie Foxx featuring Stevie Wonder. Lastly, Taraji P. Henson sets the record straight on rumors about a feud with Oprah—labeling the claims “disrespectful” and explaining they stemmed from orchestrated attempts to sabotage The Color Purple, while reaffirming their mutual support. The Barbell Mamas Podcast | Pregnancy, Postpartum, Pelvic Health
The boundaries of female athleticism are expanding in thrilling ways, yet the research supporting women's unique physiological journeys lags significantly behind. From my recent experience at the Female Athlete Conference in Boston, I've returned brimming with insights about how we're finally beginning to address this disparity. What makes this biennial gathering extraordinary is the spirit of collaboration. Sports medicine physicians, obstetricians, researchers, physical therapists, nutritionists, and coaches share knowledge freely, recognizing that advancing women's sports medicine requires collective effort rather than competition. This stands in refreshing contrast to the typically siloed approach in both healthcare and academia.A powerful theme emerged around trusting athletes to tell their own stories. In the shadow of the USA Gymnastics abuse scandal, healthcare providers are recognizing how critical it is to center athletes in their care decisions. This parallels what we need in maternal healthcare – placing the birthing person at the center while providers serve as supportive guides rather than authority figures. The most successful approach appears to be multidisciplinary, as demonstrated by the US rowing team where two athletes had babies three months apart during Olympic training and returned to win medals with comprehensive support. The conference revealed fascinating nuances about menstrual cycles, with research showing extreme variability in cycle length, ovulation timing, and hormone profiles among athletes. This variability makes generic cycle-syncing workout programs virtually impossible to implement effectively. More concerning were discussions around fertility risks in elite sport, where high training volumes combined with inadequate fueling can lead to anovulatory cycles even when menstruation appears regular.Perhaps most exciting was the focus on previously neglected populations – particularly masters athletes navigating perimenopause and menopause. With some women transitioning directly from postpartum to perimenopause (especially those having children in their 40s), there's an urgent need for research in this area. Equipment design also emerged as a critical barrier, with revelations about cyclists undergoing labioplasty because bike seats weren't designed for female anatomy. The most profound reframing questioned why we measure women's sporting advancement by how closely it approaches men's sports. What if instead, we focused on making women's sports the absolute best they can be without male performance as the benchmark? This perspective shift invites us to value women's sport for its unique contributions rather than as a perpetual game of catch-up.Join me as we continue exploring how these emerging insights can support your journey as an active woman through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond!___________________________________________________________________________Don't miss out on any of the TEA coming out of the Barbell Mamas by subscribing to our newsletter You can also follow us on Instagram and YouTube for all the up-to-date information you need about pelvic health and female athletes. When you read this column, it will be only a few days before Flag Day. I have often wondered if "Old Glory" could tell her story, just what she might tell us. Recently, I read some warm thoughts, which I'd like to share with you, my dear readers of this column. "Some people call me 'Old Glory.' Others refer to me as the 'Star Spangled Banner,' or the 'Stars and stripes.' But whatever they call me, I am your flag. I remember some time ago, people lined up on both sides of the street to watch a parade, and naturally, I was leading every parade proudly waving in the breeze. What happened? I am still the same old flag, but now I don't feel as proud as I used to be when I come down your street. You just stand there with your hands in your pockets. Then I see the children running around and shouting, is it a sin to be patriotic anymore? Have people forgotten what I stand for and where I've been?" Our flag was first raised on June 14, 1777 and oh, it is more than a piece of cloth. Having a design of stars and stripes, it symbolizes the greatest nation on earth. It has been the refuge of millions of oppressed people from everywhere. It has stood for freedom from want and fear. The red stripes symbolize hardiness and courage - the hardiness of the early pioneers, the courage of the common working man. The white stripes signify purity and innocence - the purity of the idealists who believe that each person is a child of God, and the innocence that strives for his right to be here. The blue field is indicative of vigilance, perseverance and justice - the vigilance to protect man's freedoms, and perseverance that rejects all defeat, and justice the goal of free men everywhere. The stars unified on the field of blue embrace the fifty states as one unified for the good of mankind and country. Honor her, respect her, defend her, never let her enemies from without or within tear her down in shameful defeat, lest she never rise again. Place God first and others second, then our nation will remain the bulwark of peace, freedom and equal opportunity for all mankind. This is your flag. Let your heart salute her.Warm and Winsome Thoughts: Dear friends, let us protect and respect our flag, a symbol that is so important, significant, and meaningful to those of us who love and honor and revere our country. Respect and protect our "Old Glory." WarmThoughts from the Little Home on the Prairie Over a Cup of Tea written by Dr. Luetta G. In this episode we discuss a few new to us perfumes from the houses of Aedes de Venustas and Reservation, the latter being a new brand that keeps popping up on our social feeds, and we are very impressed by both. A couple even rocketed up our respective want lists. Also, Jeff is looking for some magnolia perfumes and Jane discusses a new favorite from Trudon composed by Lyn Harris back in 2017.During The Game, we are challenged by an old world recipe, note lists that scare us a bit, and one that's probably more suited for a night out than an afternoon at the playground with your toddler. I've been doing soundwalks for three years now, but it feels like longer. Crane Lake Soundwalk is officially #64.I remember the day my dad told me he listened to The Beatles' “When I'm Sixty-Four” on the morning of his 64th birthday. He expressed a certain disbelief that he caught up to the song he first encountered as a twenty-year-old. He didn't feel sixty-four, he said. I even remember the day he repurchased the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album as a CD in his forties. He picked me up at Dudley's Records in downtown Portland, Oregon, and on a whim did some used CD shopping. In addition to the aforementioned Beatles, he picked up Cat Stevens' Tea for the Tillerman and James Taylor's Greatest Hits Vol. 1. Quite the haul, and ultimately not lost on me, even though I was in the thrall of New Wave. I spent my money on New Order and The Smiths. Anyway, I suppose that's just to say, time has a way of sneaking up on all of us. And it leads me to ask, as one does occasionally, how did I get here? Luckily I'd been doing some thinking on it recently and. Here is why I'm still making soundwalks: * These soundwalk environmental recordings—rendered while moving through the landscape at the human scale—possess an intimacy that a fixed position soundscape does not have. In the same way that a human photographed in front of a redwood tree helps communicate the grandeur of the tree, footsteps, and the passing of sounds in and out of the audible horizon lend dimensionality and scale. * It's so much easier to get “good tape”, when you just roll all the time.* It gets me outside. * There's room to grow. I'm getting better.Crane Lake Soundwalk is an interesting addition to the catalog. It's stimulating. There's a lot of wildlife to hear. And if you have the time to spare, you can compare this soundwalk to my debut Listening Spot release, Crane Lake Suite, made on the same day, in the same place, but from a fixed position. It does illustrate differences in the approach. It's just not every day you find yourself next to a shallow body of water roiling with carp. Now, if you just tuned in to the soundwalk without reading this, and didn't know about the carp, you might think it was me sloshing through the water, before realizing the splashes had a fishiness to them. I can imagine it being a little puzzling to the uninitiated. To get to Crane Lake you walk down a grassy lane on a seldom visited quarter of Sauvie Island, just north of Portland, Oregon.Soon enough you come to the lake. There are no official trails. Just slightly trampled lanes in the grass. Here we hear Cedar Waxwing, Black-headed Grosbeak, Tree Swallow, Song Sparrow, Western Wood Pewee, Yellow Warbler, Swainson's Thrush… We also hear the swish of grass underfoot and the cottonwoods quaking in the breeze. At the lake Great Blue Herons stand statuesque. They occasionally erupt from the grass thickets with Cretaceous croaks, ranging around for a new fishing spot. This is like a fast food drive thru for Bald Eagles. Easy pickings in the shallow lake.Juveniles have dark head feathers. They remain silent for the duration of my visit. You will, however, hear a Stellar's Jay mimic a Red-tailed hawk call (28:20). The Red-tailed Hawk call has long been a stand-in for an eagle call in Hollywood movie sound design. Fine sheets of rain fall in waves. The drops sound like little pin pricks, falling on the brim of my recording hat. I walk along the western perimeter of the lake on a little lane. Gentle sounds abound. I walk slowly. This is not the oldest composition I'm sharing this year, but it was tracked a year ago. It's a little surprising to me that I've stuck with a lot of these instrument voices since then. My general drift, I would say, is toward a more electrified palette. But finding the electric sounds that are expressive is time consuming, so I guess it makes sense that when I find a few, I'm going to use them for a while. That's about all I have to say about this one. I hope it adds a little something to your corner of the world. Thanks for listening and reading!Crane Lake Soundwalk is available on all music streaming services today, June 6. Have a listen, and if you enjoy what you hear, please consider telling just one person about it. Thank you! This is a public episode. Kyle Casey Chu, aka Panda Dulce is a fourth-generation Chinese-American. Her twin brother has autism, and the two went to Jefferson Elementary in the Sunset because the school had a good inclusive special education program. Kyle says that from an early age, she fought for her twin, all the way up to teaching classmates ASL to be able to communicate with her brother. After one year at Lick-Wilmerding High School, Kyle transferred to School of the Arts (now Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts) to major in music. She went to Sarah Lawrence College in New York after that, where she majored in ethnic studies and arts, followed by time at Columbia University for social work. Then Kyle Casey Chu came back to her hometown. She says she missed the calmness here, the Queer scene, and her family. We shift the conversation to the story of how San Francisco Drag Story Hour got started. Michelle Tea founded Drag Story Hour after having a kid of her own and discovering how hard it was to find spaces for queer parents or parents of queer kids. Tea thought, ‘Why not bring the magic of drag to youth spaces?' When she set out, Tea sought drag queens who had worked with youth before, something that proved not too easy. But Kyle and her drag persona, Panda Dulce, did in fact have youth work experience. Kyle had worked as a K–5 Spanish immersion teacher, a special ed. teacher, a music teacher, and a camp counselor. That plus her social work degree definitely qualified her for Drag Story Hour. She along with a handful of other queens joined the pilot program. Fast-forward to June 2022, when members of the so-called “Proud Boys” (ugh) stormed a Drag Story Hour in San Lorenzo in the East Bay that Panda Dulce had been asked to read at. After barging in uninvited and definitely unwanted, they shouted transphobic slurs and calling Panda a pedophile, a “tranny,” and an “it.” She was forced for her own safety to lock herself in a back room of the library until authorities arrived. When they did, they simply asked these horrible people to leave. No citations. Not even a slap on the wrist or taking of names. The goings on in San Lorenzo that day were awful enough. But starting soon after, the missteps by media were relentless for Kyle. Journalists seemed more interested in a preordained narrative than Kyle's actual experience and associated trauma. It was like the story was being fed to her, rather than coming from her own words. But Kyle and her writing partner, Roisin Isner, were talking one day. They decided that they wanted to reclaim authorship of Kyle's story, to add dimensionality and humanity to her experience. Isner had been through a traumatic event of her own years earlier and could easily relate to her friend. We talk at length about Kyle's reliving her trauma to film the short film that came out of writing sessions with her friend. She says that she never really stopped living it, in fact, and that shooting the movie served as a sort of catharsis for her. Then we talk about her new book, The Queen Bees of Tybee County, which is out now wherever you buy books (except for that one place—never buy anything there yuck). When we recorded that day in April, the book had just been optioned and could become a movie in the near future. She's also got another short coming soon, Betty, which just premiered in New York. Follow Kyle/Panda Dulce on Instagram and her Kyle Casey Chu website. We recorded this bonus episode during SFFILM fest in The Presidio in April 2025. Photography by Jeff Hunt

Ep. 328: Michael Koresky on his new book Sick and Dirty: Hollywood's Gay Golden Age and the Making of Modern Queerness - The Children's Hour, These Three, Tea and Sympathy, Dance Girl Dance, and more Welcome to The Last Thing I Saw, with your host, Nicolas Rapold. I was a huge fan of Michael Koresky's last book, Films of Endearment, and so I leapt into action when I heard about his latest, Sick and Dirty: Hollywood's Gay Golden Age and the Making of Modern Queerness. Koresky is now Senior Curator of Film at Museum of the Moving Image, and, as he points out, his book has roots in his column I had the privilege of editing at Film Comment, Queer and Now and Then. I spoke with him about some pivotal titles in his deeply researched chronicle of under-the-radar queer cinema from the 1930s to the 1960s, and the fascinating work that could emerge under Hollywood's censorship regime: These Three and The Children's Hour, two adaptations of Lillian Hellman's play, both directed by William Wyler; Dorothy Arzner's Dance, Girl, Dance; Vincente Minnelli's oft-maligned Tea & Sympathy; and more. “Sick and Dirty: Hollywood's Gay Golden Age and the Making of Modern Queerness” by Michael Koresky is available now, published by Bloomsbury. On June 22, Tea & Sympathy will screen with Koresky in conversation at the Museum of the Moving Image as part of a special book event. The Barbell Mamas Podcast | Pregnancy, Postpartum, Pelvic Health
Pregnancy doesn't have to mean suffering through pain until delivery day. In this myth-busting episode, pelvic floor physical therapist Christina Prevett tackles one of pregnancy's most common yet misunderstood challenges: pelvic girdle pain.Between 50-75% of pregnant individuals experience muscle aches and pain, particularly around the pelvis. But the common advice to "just wait until the baby comes" or dismissing it as "normal pregnancy discomfort" prevents many from finding the relief they deserve. Christina systematically dismantles four harmful myths about pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain, including the widespread misconception that the hormone relaxin is solely to blame. What's really happening when pregnancy causes pelvic pain? Christina explains how pregnancy shifts the balance between our body's static supports (ligaments) and dynamic supports (muscles), requiring our hip, inner thigh, and pelvic floor muscles to work harder. This understanding transforms how we approach treatment—instead of resting completely, strategic strengthening becomes crucial.Through practical modification strategies, supportive equipment recommendations, and specific strengthening exercises, Christina provides a comprehensive approach to managing pain during pregnancy. She shares her personal experience with pelvic girdle pain during both her pregnancies, demonstrating how active management rather than passive waiting led to quick relief.Whether you're currently pregnant and struggling with pain or a fitness professional working with pregnant clients, this episode delivers actionable strategies to transform the pregnancy experience from one of endurance to empowerment. Your pregnancy journey doesn't have to include unmanaged pain—there are evidence-based solutions waiting for you.___________________________________________________________________________Don't miss out on any of the TEA coming out of the Barbell Mamas by subscribing to our newsletter You can also follow us on Instagram and YouTube for all the up-to-date information you need about pelvic health and female athletes. The German Hanoverian Queens of Great Britain and later the United Kingdom had some of the most epic royal matrimonial brawls in history. One brought enlightenment thinking to court. To some, Memorial Day means a day off from work, a three day weekend, opening day for the local pool, or the official start of the summer season. But for others, Memorial Day is a time to remember the dead, especially those who perished in America's wars. Memorial Day is said to have started in Waterloo, New York, when on May 5th, 1866 residents held a commemorative program and decorated the graves of those who died in the Civil War over time and as the United States fought more wars, Memorial Day, or "Decoration Day," as it is called in some areas, added the remembrance of those soldiers who died in World War I, World War II, the Korean conflict, the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. Memorial Day is also a day of prayer for peace, as well as a patriotic day in which Americans display the flag. Memorial Day has also become a day to honor one's ancestors and family members who have died. Many Americans visit the graves of their loved ones and leave flowers on this day. For a time, beginning in 1948, Memorial Day was observed on May 30th, issued by a presidential proclamation beginning in 1948. Since 1971, however, it has been officially designated the last Monday in May. This year, it falls on May 25th. Recently, I read a poem written for Memorial Day by an unknown author, entitled, "I'm Free." "Don't grieve for me, for now, I'm free. I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day - to laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone, must stay at that way. I found peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembering joy. A friendship, shared a laugh, a kiss, ah, yes, these things too, I will miss. Be not burdened with time of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I've savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me. God wanted me now, He set me free." Patriotic thought from an unknown source, commonly used during the Vietnam era: "You haven't lived until you've almost died for those who have fought for it, freedom has a favor that the protected will never know." May you have many Memorial Day memories!Warm Thoughts from the Little Home on the Prairie Over a Cup of Tea, written by Dr. Luetta G WernerPublished in the Marion Record, May 28th, 1998.Download the Found Photo Freebie and cherish your memories of the past.Enjoy flipping through the Vintage Photo Book on your coffee table.I hope you enjoyed this podcast episode! What if one of the answers to better health wasn't more medication… but more mud under your nails? In this episode of Make Movement Matter, I talk to Susan Taheri, a rural GP who turned her growing frustration with the healthcare system into something living and healing - a garden. Not a metaphorical one. A real, community garden next to her practice in Devon, where patients can reconnect, move more, and experience a different kind of care.We chat about why she built the garden from scratch, how movement sneaks into every part of gardening, and what happens when doctors start meeting patients outside and connecting in the open air. This week, the slower music box music has been replaced with a mix of classic Disneyland music, and vocal tracks from the Disneyland 70th celebration. The music box music isn't completely gone though – it plays each night at 10pm as a post-fireworks “kiss goodnight.” – https://www.micechat.com/416185-disneyland-update-parades-parties-patriotism-as-summer-starts/ Even with the Disneyland 70th in nearly full swing, there are still some construction projects happening around the resort. Mendocino Terrace in Disney California Adventure is still being worked on, while outside in Downtown Disney, Earl of Sandwich is coming along quickly now, and the old Tortilla Jo's is all but leveled. – https://www.micechat.com/416185-disneyland-update-parades-parties-patriotism-as-summer-starts/ The Little Man of Disneyland, Patrick Begorra, is setting off to another land in the park. Patrick is being celebrated at Club 33 with his own menu. He is going on a “Royal Adventure” to New Orleans Square where the menu features cocktails representing the five original lands. The Watchlight, and the Strawberry Streetcar for Main Street, Flights of Enchantment for Fantasyland, Amber Waves of Tea for Frontierland, Neverending Tomorrow for Tomorrowland, and Uncharted Nature for Adventureland. There are also some food options for each of the lands as part of the 70th celebration. Tables have been setup around the resort for fallen soldiers, with an empty place setting, reminding guests of the soldiers who did not make it home. The Flag Retreat ceremony in Town Square was larger then usual to honor the day. The Navy's 32nd Street Brass Band performed at Disney California Adventure on the Hollywood Pictures Backlot stage last week to round out the holiday. – https://www.micechat.com/416185-disneyland-update-parades-parties-patriotism-as-summer-starts/ SnackChat: 13 banana bites (new treats added for Savannah Banana Day) – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/disney-eats-13-banana-bites-to-celebrate-savannah-bananas-at-disneyland/ Discussion Topic: Games with Producer James
Join Crystal as she finishes up our study in Ephesians with a closer look at the Armour of God. Anyone who is trying to live a Spirit-filled--that is, a Spirit-controlled--life, is in the midst of a very real spiritual battle. This battle isn't just with our own flesh, but it is also with Satan and his demons. I Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”We have to understand that Satan desires to destroy us. His ultimate goal is to rob God of the glory He deserves. Satan knows that if he is successful in destroying the lives of Christians, he will keep God from getting glory. The destruction left behind by a Christian who Satan has defeated, even temporarily, can have lasting consequences that affect the lives of their families, friends, and churches. So we must "armour up!" Choose each and every day to put on the Armour of God and take your place in the spiritual battle. Resources mentioned in this episode (affiliate links): Arise, Go. There's a Fly in my Tea!
