Doug Greenlaw sees his life as a series of "lightning strikes." He was literally struck by lightning when he was 13 years old, thankfully making an immediate recovery. He later left Indiana University to join the Army, become an officer, and serve in in the Vietnam War - first as a platoon commander and then as a company commander. He arrived in Vietnam in 1967.In this edition of Veterans Chronicles, Greenlaw takes us through his training, including a terrifying story from jungle training, and through his most harrowing moments in Vietnam. Greenlaw details the events of Thanksgiving Day 1967, when his platoon was dropped off in the wrong spot and quickly found itself facing a North Vietnamese battalion of 400-500 fighters. He explains the actions he took to keep his men alive until air and ground support could arrive - and he describes hand-to-hand fighting with an enemy officer in a North Vietnamese tunnel.Greenlaw also tells us his responsibilities and priorities as a platoon and company commander and how he and his men painstakingly looked out for enemy booby traps and explosives. He also reveals the extensive injuries he suffered after a soldier in his company tripped one of those wires. We'll also hear how Greenlaw's military service impacted his impressive rise as a sales and marketing executive, all the way to the top of MTV, Nickelodeon, and VH-1.Finally, we'll learn about Greenlaw's leadership with the Military Order of the Purple Heart, from leading his local chapter to serving as national commander for two years.

The Purple Heart honors the men and women who are of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. During the American Revolutionary War, the Badge for Military Merit decorated six known soldiers. General George Washington created the Badge of Merit in 1782. Washington intended the honor to be presented to soldiers for "any singularly meritorious action." Its design included a purple, heart-shaped piece of silk bound with a thin edge of silver. Across the face, the word Merit was embroidered in silver. While the badge symbolized the courage and devotion of an American Patriot, no one knows who designed the award.

Subscribe to the PPM Patreon to access the entirety of this wide reaching, thought provoking, & hair-raising investigation into the Devil of Taganga's Israeli sex trafficking ring in Colombia: patreon.com/ParaPowerMapping CSA trigger warnings abound for this conversation, friends. Immensely grateful to my interlocutor, great friend of the show & fellow para-podcaster Fergal Schmudlach, permitting me to re-release this ep which first dropped on his pod "The Kingless Generation". Pls support him! This is prob some of the riskiest research I've ever pulled together, as the mastermind of this child trafficking & drug smuggling ring that catered almost exclusively to backpacking I O F veterans & active-duty servicemen has avoided any meaningful ramifications for his abhorrent enterprise & seemingly lives freely in the Z***ist entity in the present day, insulated from Interpol & Colombian federales' efforts to hold him to account. In this discussion b/w Fergal and I, we weave the saga of the Devil of Taganga, this former I D F soldier kingpin who relocated to Colombia after his initial int'l party drug smuggling network was busted in the early 2000s, where he promptly set about erecting a hostel chain from Bogota to the seaside village of Taganga through which he ran underage girls & drugs. In short, we take a brief break from our "Cork Board Church of the Paranoiacost" series to return to Year of the Tunnel territory, talking: the Crusader states; Japanese storybook exposes of the Knights of St. John & Military Order of Malta's sex trafficking during Catholic led attempts to convert the isles; more on the Chabad tunnel fracas & the distinct possibility it was a psyop dressed in Messichist rhetoric; we break down... M o s s a d's use of Lubavitchers as agents, whom they can embed in foreign countries w/ ease; Jonathan Pollard & his much younger Lubavitcher wife; we parse a bunch of data & statistics regarding the proliferation of sex trafficking in the Z***ist entity, the safeguarding of sexual criminals who are treated as protected individuals, the avg age that Israeli prostitutes enter the trade (which is tragically in their preteens...), the prevalence of child marriage, and more, all evidence for the centrality of human trafficking to the Z***ist project, and said pedostate's reliance on sex & labor trafficking to maintain the colonial satellite. The episode climaxes in the latter half when we go deep, diving into the Israeli organized child trafficking ring in Colombia that has endured despite repeated attempts to break it up, likely bc of high level military backing... A vile traffick that has been allowed to fester, seemingly for the purpose of incentivizing service & brainwashing I O F stormtroopers by emptying their brains thru a variety of means (drugs & sex included). We get into some data indicating that the number of Israeli backpackers visiting Colombia has increased exponentially in recent years. We're talking about how the Devil of Taganga & his posse of former Israeli servicemen would come to run a seaside village on the coast of Colombia, turning their hostel compound into a drug den & brothel w/ the help of an ex-paramilitant & crooked cops, terrorizing the townsfolk on their 4X4 Jeeps flying Star of David flags, press-ganging the local girls into prostitution. One of the terrible fruits of their stranglehold on the formerly bucolic, tropical fishing village was a localized AIDS epidemic, so pernicious was their influence. We reveal how the Devil of Taganga, this Israeli kingpin named A s i B e n M o s h, would ultimately face deportation & still inexplicably escape all the charges brought against him, time & again. And how the cont'd criminality of his deputies, which he directed from afar, living it up while selling Ecstasy in Ibiza, ultimately resulted in the murder of one of B e n M o s h's rivals in Colombia. Welcome to August 7th, 2022 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate a moveable feast and the oldest military honor. John Montagu was obsessed with gambling. So much so that he played cards for hours on end, even forgetting at times to eat. Then one day, he devised a meal that could be eaten with one hand. He requested that a servant bring him some meat between two pieces of bread, and thus the Earl of Sandwich created the, well, the sandwich. Since then, this portable meal has become one of the most popular finger foods in the world. And with so many good choices, from a multilayered club to the humble peanut butter and jelly, we decided that you need a whole month to celebrate. During National Sandwich Month, enjoy packing your meal on the go and celebrate the Earl who started it all. Purple Heart Day honors the extraordinary men and women who are of the Military Order of The Purple Heart. George Washington first created the Badge of Merit in 1782, which was awarded to six veterans of the Revolutionary War. The modern day Purple Heart, which bears Washington's image, was given to General Douglas MacArthur in 1944. MacArthur helped to change the requirements that limit the award to only those wounded or killed in combat. Today it is estimated that the oldest military honor has been bestowed on nearly 1.9 million people since it was created. On Purple Heart Day we thank all those who have dedicated their lives in service to our country. I'm Anna Devere and I'm Marlo Anderson. Guest, Alan B. Clark After attending Phillips Exeter Academy, Allen graduated the United States Military Academy in 1963, after which he was commissioned in the Army Corps of Engineers. Two years after graduation from West Point, he volunteered for a tour in Vietnam where he served as a Military Intelligence officer assigned to the Fifth Special Forces Group. Allen sustained injuries in an early-morning mortar attack at the Dak To Special Forces camp on June 17, 1967, that necessitated the amputation of both legs below his knees. His military service and sacrifice were recognized with receipt of a Silver Star for Gallantry in Action, the Purple Heart, and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. He was airborne-qualified. While learning to adjust to his disability and to walk on prosthetic legs, he obtained an MBA in finance and investments from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Allen's first post-graduate position was as an investment manager for Ross Perot. His other private sector experience has spanned oil and gas exploration, real estate marketing, and mortgage lending. He has been vice president of a bank, president of three oil service companies, and co-founder of a real estate investment company in Texas. Allen's impassioned commitment to public service and to helping veterans began with an appointment in 1979 as the Special Assistant for Administration to Texas Governor William P. Clements, Jr. In 1981, Allen was President Ronald Reagan's selection to be Deputy Administrator for the Veterans Administration (now the Department of Veterans Affairs). However, he chose to remain in Texas where in 1982 he received the Texas Republican Party's nomination to run for State Treasurer in a race that was won by former Texas State Governor Ann Richards. In 1989, he was nominated by President George H.W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Assistant Secretary for Veterans Liaison and Program Coordination at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. In 1991, he received his second VA confirmation as Director of the National Cemetery System, a position in which he served until the end of the President George H. W. Bush administration. Allen's dedicated efforts to support veteran's causes at the national and state levels were recognized with his selection in 2011 by the Texas state Disabled American Veterans organization as their Outstanding Disabled American Veteran. In 1993 Allen was honored by the Military Chaplains Association with their National Citizenship Award. In 2010 he was selected by the Chaplains Commission of the National Association of Evangelicals as their Centurion of the Year. A You Tube video about Allen may be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VehcTFKz8KA&feature=g-upl. He blogs at www.combatfaith.blogspot.com. He retired in 2005 as the Public Affairs Officer of the VA North Texas Health Care System in Dallas, Texas. His current lay ministry, Combat Faith (www.combatfaith.com), is involved in outreach efforts to help active duty military personnel and veterans recover from the traumas of combat and their adverse wartime experiences. Allen participates in many community and civic activities, including regularly speaking at warrior transition battalions, military post chapels, high schools and colleges, service and veteran groups, youth conferences, and churches. He has addressed many audiences nationwide as a public official, motivational speaker, and political candidate. His autobiography, Wounded Soldier Healing Warrior, (www.woundedsoldierhealingwarrior.com), was published by Zenith Press in 2007. On this book's web site may be viewed his interview by Larry King. His second book, Valor in Vietnam, (www.valorinvietnam.com), was published in 2012 by Casemate Publishers. In this episode, I sat down with Vietnam War veteran and now best selling author William V. Taylor to talk about his memoir “On Full Automatic: Surviving 13 Months In Vietnam.” During the discussion we talked about his enlistment and training process, the types and nature of combat during his time there, the role of the environment and how factors like heat and terrain affected him, his relationship to civilians in Vietnam, his changing view of the nature of the enemy as the war went on, the ways that big picture military strategy often clashed with the realities on the ground, the human element of war, the importance of letter writing for him, and ultimately his thoughts on one of the main questions he asks in his book: was it worth it? Bill Taylor, author of "On Full Automatic: Surviving 13 Months in Vietnam" served in the First Battalion, Third Marine Regiment in Vietnam for 13 months in 1967 and 1968. He has spoken for Veteran's Organizations and to local schools about the Vietnam War. He currently belongs to the VFW, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans, Third Marine Division Association, and the Marine Corp League. He has been a Chapter Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Visit his website https://www.williamvtaylor.com. The students who participated in today's interview are Sarah Henninger, Angelena Sandy, Andrew Getch. The local Marine Corps League and the Military order of the Purple Heart and the DuBois Area High School teamed up for a clothing drive to support local veterans. Throughout both Clearfield and Jefferson Counties, many veterans from our community and surrounding areas are currently patients in various nursing homes, homeless, or have fallen on difficult times. These men and women are in need of basic clothing such as socks, undershirts, underwear, sweatpants, and sweatshirts. Therefore, the Marine Corps League, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and the DuBois Area High School teamed up for a community service project to honor our local veterans.

The Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) is one of the oldest associations of Military Officers and one that is not as well known as some of the others. In talking with Commander Okin it became abundantly clear why that is, much of their efforts are directed to service to the youth of this country and low key from a publicity standpoint but very valuable to those they serve. Many times, it is the efforts of one or two Companions, as they refer to their members. Listen in to hear what Commander Okin has to say and you will be as impressed as I was with the man and organization.

This Military Honor Has Been Bestowed On Nearly Two Million Vets. Welcome to August 7th, 2021 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate an age-old condiment and the oldest military honor. On this day we celebrate one of the oldest condiments in the history of the world. No, it's not that long-forgotten bottle of ketchup in the back of your fridge. It's mustard. The ancient Romans ground mustard seeds into a powder which they combined with vinegar to make a paste. They discovered that this flavor combo was delicious on all sorts of foods. As the Roman Empire spread across Europe, so did the love of this condiment. Households during the Middle Ages used a lot of mustard, as did 17th century England, where the modern version was created. And that's how mustard made its way from ancient Rome to the top of that hotdog you're about to eat. On National Mustard Day enjoy a classic flavor that never goes out of style. Purple Heart Day honors the extraordinary men and women who are of the Military Order of The Purple Heart. George Washington first created the Badge of Merit in 1782, which was awarded to six veterans of the Revolutionary War. Classic Influence Podcast: Timeless Lessons from the Legends of Leadership, Power, Hustle and Grit
On Christmas Day in 1119 A.D., countless prayers were finally answered when a French knight known as Hugh of Payns banded together with 8 other knights in a brotherhood of highly skilled religious warriors. The nine knights all took “vows of poverty, chastity and obedience” and pledged themselves to protect the Christian pilgrims who were traveling on the roads to Jerusalem. Operating as a sort of elite special forces of the Middle Ages, the exceptionally disciplined and well-trained military order was unlike any religious order that had come before. In this episode of Classic Influence, we'll travel back to the Holy Lands during the Crusades to explore the key factors that led to the surprisingly rapid rise of the Knights Templar, the most formidable military order in the history of the world. This episode also reveals the one central factor that best explains the Templars' eventual downfall and their scandalous, vicious end.

While he is recognized as one of film's best-known tough guys, Robert Davi has been winning the respect and admiration of fans, critics and fellow artists with his expressive singing. His album, Davi Sings Sinatra: On The Road To Romance, produced by the legendary Phil Ramone, catapulted its way into Billboard magazine's top ten (#6) traditional jazz chart. While Davi Sings Sinatra: On the Road to Romance and his dynamic performances may have surprised some of his fans, Davi's love of music and entertaining began at an early age. At 15, he won First Place in the prestigious New York State School Music Association Solo Competition. As a young adult, he studied under several top vocal teachers including the legendary Tito Gobbi, Dan Ferro of Juilliard, Samuel Margolis (who taught Robert Merrill) and renowned vocal coach Gary Catona. From the memorable villain, Colombian drug lord Frank Sanchez, in the Bond film "License to Kill" (voted one of the top Bond villains of all time) to his stand-out performances in "The Goonies," "Die Hard," "Kill the Irishman," "The Iceman" and many other films to the respected series "Profiler" and "Stargate: Atlantis," Davi has appeared in over 100 movies and many television programs. He has garnered praise from critics, directors and co-stars, including Steven Spielberg, Richard Donner, Blake Edwards, John McTiernan, and Paul Verhoeven. He has acted opposite Marlon Brando, Roberto Benigni, Bruce Willis, Clint Eastwood, Benicio Del Toro, Danny Glover, Michael Shannon, Chris Evans, James Franco, and Val Kilmer, among others. GQ Magazine has compared him to silver screen classics Robert Mitchum and Lee Marvin. His tough exterior masks an inner sensitivity, which he has brought to his roles as a Palestinian terrorist in the award-winning TV movie, "Terrorist on Trial: The United States vs. Salim Ajami," and in memorable appearances in "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "Without a Trace," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "Criminal Minds" and many more. In 2007, Davi produced, directed co-wrote and starred in "The Dukes," the story of a successful Doo Wop group who falls on hard times. At the Monte Carlo Festival of Comedy, Davi was awarded Best First-Time Director and Best Screenplay for the film and he was the only first-time director in the Premiere Section of the International Rome Film Festival, with films by Sean Penn, Robert Redford, Sidney Lumet and Julie Taymor. Hailing from Astoria, Queens, NY, Davi attended Hofstra University on a drama scholarship. He moved to Manhattan to study with legendary acting coach Stella Adler, who became his mentor. He subsequently became a lifetime member of the Actors Studio, studying with acting teacher Lee Strasberg and also studied under Sandra Seacat, Larry Moss, Milton Katselas, Martin Landau, Mala Powers, and George Shdanoff, the creative partner and collaborator with the influential Michael Chekhov. His first screen appearance was opposite Frank Sinatra in the telefilm, "Contract on Cherry Street." Besides working in music, film and television, and raising his five children, four dogs, and two cats, Davi is an active supporter of The Dream Foundation, Exceptional Children's Foundation, Heart of a Child Foundation, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Youth Foundation, The Humane Society of the United States, Heart of a Horse, NIAF, The Order 'Sons of Italy' in America (OSIA), and UNICO National. Since its inception in 1998, Davi has been the National Spokesperson for i-Safe America, which is regarded by many internet experts as the most complete internet safety program in the country and is available in grades K- 12 in all 50 U.S. states. Davi has received numerous awards for career achievement and community involvement, including the George M. Estabrook Distinguished Service Award from the Hofstra University Alumni Association (past recipients include Francis Ford Coppola and William Safire). He has received the FBI's Man of the Year Award in Los Angeles and was also named KNX radio's "Citizen of the Week" for saving a young girl from a fire in her home. Other public service awards include the Sons of Italy's Royal Court of the Golden Lion Award and the 2004 STEP Award (Science, Technology and Education Partnership), whose past recipients include Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 2007, Davi received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Italian Board of Governors in New York, and in 2008, he received the Italo-Americano Award from the Capri-Hollywood Festival. In 2011, Davi was awarded the "Military Order of the Purple Heart" (MOPH) Special Recognition Award for dedication and service honoring America's service members and veterans. In 2015, Davi appeared in a music video for Bob Dylan's recording of "The Night They Called It a Day" from Dylan's album Shadows in the Night, , a collection of songs which had been recorded by Frank Sinatra. Rolling Stone suggested that Davi's role in the video may have been a nod towards Davi's having made his acting debut alongside Sinatra in the crime film "Contract on Cherry Street," and Davi's release of his own album of Sinatra covers.

The Military Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, the OSJ, is a historic religious order of the Catholic Church. As with all religious orders, the OSJ derives its jurisdiction directly from the pope and is not subject to the diocesan bishops. When the Vatican II revolution forced traditional priests to leave their dioceses, priests, desiring to serve the needs of the faithful who recognized the poison of the new religion, were still faced with the difficulty that they were not granted ordinary jurisdiction, for instance, to hear confessions. With the confusion of that time and unable or neglectful to study and explain how they received the required jurisdiction, priests of that time period grasped from anyway which sounded legitimate in order to acquire jurisdiction. One of these means was the organization called the OSJ founded here in America which held forth its hand as a means for these priests to have jurisdiction. Now while the OSJ has its headquarters in Rome and was still recognized as a legitimate Catholic Order, the American OSJ claims to be a separate branch of the order deriving its origin from the branch in Russia and independent of the Order in Rome. While being its claim to be a Catholic Order, if true, would give it ordinary jurisdiction separate from the diocesan structure, the OSJ in America also makes the extraordinary claim that it is only accountable to the Pope in faith and morals. This is but one of many extraordinary claims of this order. Father Anthony Cekada joins us again to discuss the research he did in the late 1970’s on the OSJ in Rome and the entity claiming to be the OSJ found here in the United States. As there are many pertinent concepts which pertain to other topics discussed in this episode, listeners will find the topic is still relevant today. Join us as we descend into the shadows to find out what lies behind the mask of the OSJ here in America. Jeremy Staat was born in Bakersfield California to his parents Harold and Janet Staat, on October 10, 1976. He is the middle child of three. As a 1994 graduate of Bakersfield High School in Bakersfield, Calif., Jeremy was a two-sport star, lettering four times in football and three times in track. As a student athlete in football and track and field; Jeremy was honored with many different awards for his efforts. In football, he was a part of a football program starting his freshman year that had a combined winning record of 41-2-1. Jeremy was one of the team captains in 1993 and was a 2-time all-Area/all-South Yosemite League first-team in football. He was named the best lineman in the South Yosemite League, earned Lineman of the Year by the Bakersfield Californian, earned a California All-State Honorable Mention, and was named as the starting left tackle for the Shrine California North/South All-Star football game. As a track and field standout at Bakersfield High School Jeremy earned the most improved player award, and most valuable player in the south Yosemite league and was the South Yosemite League champion in the shot put and discus in 1992-93. Jeremy was the captain of the track team in 1993-94 and was selected as the Athlete of the Year by The Bakersfield Californian in 1993-1994 and earned the California State C.I.F. champion in the discus throw. For his efforts he was named All-Area/All-South Yosemite league, named Jockey Club Athlete of the Month (April 1994), was Bakersfield High School’s Most Valuable Player in track and field in 1994, and was the recipient of the Howard Whalen Track and Field Memorial Scholarship. After graduating high school at the age of 17, Jeremy decided that he wanted to stay local and attend Bakersfield Community College. Once again Jeremy continued his athletic endeavors by competing as a two-sport athlete while attending Bakersfield College. He was a member of 1994 and 1995 Western States Conference football championship team and was also a member of 1994 and 1995 Potato Bowl Champions, with a combined record of 20-2 and was coached by Carl Bowser and Dwayne Damron. As a freshman Jeremy played offensive tackle and tight end and earned honorable mention All-Western States Conference and was recipient of the Matt Poole Award. During the 1995-96 football seasons he was named first-team offense Western States Conference, Honorable Mention All-American by J.C. Grid wire, and earned the Bakersfield College coach’s award. As a track and field competitor for the Bakersfield College Renegades during the 1994- 95, his freshman track season, Jeremy earned the California State Jr. College champion honor in the discus throw, he was named Western States Conference Most Valuable Player, Bakersfield College freshman athlete of the year, and Bakersfield Jockey Club athlete of the month. During Jeremy’s sophomore year at Bakersfield College he was named the Most Outstanding Male Athlete at Bakersfield College in 1995-96 served as a team captain. He also set school records in discus, 182' 4" (which still stands today) and the shot put 58' 1/4," he won the State Championship in both the discus and the shot put, becoming the first male to win two throwing events in one year. His 2nd place finish in the Hammer Throw at this State Meet made him the highest scoring athlete, EVER, at the CCCAA State Track and Field Championships. He also earned all WSC first-team honors in the discus and shot put. Won the hammer, discus, and shot put in the Southern Cal Meet of Champions; becoming the first person to win these three events in the meet's history (which still remains today). He went on to take first-place in the shot put at the National Jr. College All-American Track and Field meet earned Junior All-American status at the U.S.A. Junior National Track and Field championships. He received Cerritos College Event's top field athlete in the 1995-96 track season. He went on to compete unattached at the 1996 Sun Angel Track Classic at Arizona State University, in the shot put and discus throw (took fifth place in the shot put with a toss of 56' 3 ", which would have placed him as a provisional in the NCAA outdoor championships and took fourth in the discus throw with a mark of 180' 1 " that would have placed him as eighth all-time in ASU history. In 1996, Jeremy graduated from Bakersfield Community College in Bakersfield, Calif., with an associate degree in Criminal Justice, and in 2001 was inducted into the Bakersfield College Hall of Fame. With everything that Jeremy had completed up to this point as a student athlete he still wanted to continue with his college education and wanted to compete at the Division I level, and he decided to accept an athletic scholarship to Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. Jeremy was extremely excited for the opportunity to play for the Arizona State SunDevils. Although he wasn’t able to be a multi-sport athlete, like he was in high school and junior college, he still gave everything he had to the football team, but still wanted to compete in the shot put and discus, but he knew that there was going to be a crossroads at some point in his athletic career and he was going to have to choose between football and track and field, and since he was on a football scholarship he knew that track and field would have to take a back seat. During his time with the SunDevils the football team went 11-0 in 1996 for a 1997 Rose Bowl National Championship appearance where the SunDevils played the Ohio State Buckeyes and came up short in the final minutes of the game. The SunDevils went on to be ranked #4 in the Nation. During Jeremy’s senior year the SunDevils went 9-3 his senior year and won a Bowl bid to play in the Norwest SunBowl in El Paso, Texas in 1997. With the 1997 Sun Bowl Appearance, Jeremy was named the Jimmy Roger Jr's, Most Valuable player Defensive lineman of the game. He went on to earn 2nd team all-Pac 10 honors and was the 1997 Morris Trophy recipient, which was the 1st time in history that a defensive lineman from ASU won that award. The Morris Trophy is the college football award given to the Pac 10's most valuable Offensive and Defensive lineman. Jeremy was also named a 1997, 1st team All American, by the Sporting News as well as 1st Team All-American selection by the Football Writers Association of America. He also earned four “Player of the Game” awards from ASU as a Defensive Lineman. During the 1997 regular season he had 12.5 sacks and 23.0 total tackles-for-loss and earned another 3 sacks and X tackle for losses in the Norwest SunBowl, which gave him the single season sack record for a defensive lineman in ASU history. During his playing time at ASU Jeremy had become good friends with Pat Tillman. Pat Tillman was a standout scholar athlete who was drafted into the National Football League (NFL), played four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, and thus turned down a $4.6 million-dollar contract to join the Army Rangers and was killed in action in April of 2004. In 1998 Jeremy was drafted in the National Football League in the 2nd round of the draft and was the 41st pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jeremy played three seasons with the Steelers and found that it wasn’t a good fit and decided to look at other teams within the NFL. In 2001 he signed on with the Seattle Seahawks and was released after the fifth week of training camp and returned home to Scottsdale, AZ., and begun to rethink his professional career. While waiting on another team to pick him up a national tragedy occurred that turned his attention from the NFL to national service, the event that took place was the terrorist attacks that happened on September 11, 2001. After seeing the carnage of the 9/11 attacks upon the World Trade Centers, Jeremy decided that he wanted to join the United States Army. This is when an old friend contacted Jeremy and made him promise to go back into the NFL and earn his fourth season, so that Jeremy would be a vested player with the NFL and earn his retirement from the NFL, that friend was Pat Tillman. In the spring of 2002, Jeremy once again stepped back in to the realm of the NFL and signed on with the Oakland Raiders as an offensive guard and was released in August of 2002, Jeremy would sit out the entire 2002 season and once again would sign with a different NFL team. In 2003, Jeremy signed on with the St. Louis Rams and finally earned his fourth season in the NFL and had qualified for his NFL pension. In 2004, Jeremy decided that after he had earned one retirement from professional athletics he should go and earn a second retirement from the Arena Football League (AFL), so in the spring of 2004 Jeremy signed on with the Los Angeles Avengers and played several games with the Avengers before hearing about the passing of his former teammate and friend Pat Tillman. Jeremy then retired completely from professional athletics and decided to answer the call of serving his country and decided to join the United States Marine Corps. At this point he was willing to risk it all. In 2005, Jeremy decided that it was time for him to fulfill his commitment to his country and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and entered boot camp in December of 2005. Jeremy entered the Marine Corps 10 years older than the average recruit. Jeremy completed his 13-week Marine Corps Boot Camp at Marine Corps Recruiting Depot San Diego (MCRD). He graduated on the same Parade Ground as did his grandfather, Herman Francis Staat, in 1941. He was then stationed with 1/3 Bravo Company of Kaneohe Bay, HI, as an Infantry Machine gunner (0331). In 2007, the 1/3 Battalion was deployed, and Jeremy found himself assigned to Haditha, Iraq for a nine-month deployment. After returning from deployment in Haditha, Iraq; Jeremy had some medical issues that needed to be addressed and was never returned to his infantry unit. In his final years with the Marine Corps Jeremy had been giving advice to Marines that were being discharged and encouraged them to get their education but realizing that he himself hadn’t finished his bachelor’s degree. Jeremy decided to return to school during his final year in the Marine Corps and earned his bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in liberal studies. (I can’t Praise the Arizona State University staff and its’ President high enough for their efforts to make this happen) Jeremy was discharged from Marine Corps in August of 2009. After being discharged from the Marine Corps Jeremy moved back home to Bakersfield, CA and married his fiancéé Janelle Hamilton; he began to work with local charities within the community and wanted to continue to serve and to help others. In 2010, Jeremy joined up with many local and national Veterans Organizations like: The Veteran Tickets foundation, Kern County Honor Flight, Vision 2 Victory, and Kern Vets, “Wall of Valor,” and begun to do multiple speaking engagements to help bring awareness to the different non-profits that he was helping out. In 2011 Jeremy decided to start his own foundation that focused on bringing a Veteran speaking board into the educational environment, to inspire and motivate students to do their best. After speaking to more than 150 plus schools in Kern County, California and Arizona; Jeremy then decided that it was time to take his message nationwide. In the winter of 2012, Jeremy and his team conducted a 3,468-mile cross country bicycle ride that, visited 78 cities in 16 states, focused on bring awareness to the epidemic of veteran suicide and childhood obesity. The Wall to Wall Cross Country Bicycle Ride stated at the Wall of Valor in Bakersfield, California and traveled east across the country and ended at the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. After returning home from his cross-country endeavor Jeremy was welcomed home by the birth of his first child, a boy, that he and his wife named Tristen. After the birth of Tristen, Jeremy continued to work with his foundation and continued to deliver hundreds more motivational and inspirational speeches to schools and businesses. For his efforts, he was named the 2011 Military Order of the Purple Heart Veteran of the Year, the 2013 All Sports United Humanitarian Recipient, 2013 Beautiful Bakersfield Humanitarian of the Year Recipient, and was a 2014 Bakersfield High School Football Hall of Fame Inductee. In 2013, Jeremy decided that he wanted to have a more stable lifestyle and decided to progress into the educational field and desired to start a trade school focusing on welding. Jeremy enrolled in classes at Bakersfield College to earn his welding degree and welding certifications; along the way, decided to apply for a job at Bakersfield College and in 2013 he began teaching full time as a welding instructor at Bakersfield College. In 2015, Jeremy and his wife welcomed their second son, Gavin. Jeremy then decided it was a must that he continued his education and began to pursue his graduate degrees. In 2016, he earned his master’s degree in educational leadership from Liberty University, and then decided that he needed to earn his Educational Specialist Degree (Ed.S.) from Liberty University as well. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) degree. He plans on completing his Ed.D in the summer of 2020. In the spring of 2020, Jeremy will be inducted into the Museum of the Marine Corps Sports Hall of Fame wing that is to be open in the spring of 2020. By now, most of you are familiar with our featured guest this episode, Kristin Beck. The retired SEAL formerly known as Chris Beck made headlines with the CNN documentary "Lady Valor," but it has now been five years since the film first aired, and Kristin has since become involved in various projects. The biggest of which is becoming the National Advocacy Officer for The Military Order of the Purple Heart. Through this position Kristin has advocated for improved treatment for veterans with traumatic brain injury, as well as post traumatic stress related difficulties. We also dive deep into Kristin's history in the SEALs covering past deployments, as well as work in computer programming. We discuss the future of females in spec ops, as well as recent controversies in the SEALs, namely the war crime accusations against Chief Eddie Gallagher. This is the first time we've had Kristin in studio, and I was curious as to the reason behind the trip to New York City. Well, believe it or not, it involves a new exploration into the fashion world. As you'll hear, there is also a future movie in the works. So, Kristin is keeping busy, and I think you'll learn quite a lot during this interview. Be sure to follow Kristin on Instagram & Twitter @Valor4US. Learn more about your ad-choices at https://news.iheart.com/podcast-advertisers
My first guest on the Tami Jackson Show* tonight will be Paul Broun. After graduating from the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia, Paul Broun devoted nearly four decades to serving others through the practice of medicine. Dr. Broun is passionate about the medical profession and enjoys helping patients whether as a family physician, in emergency medicine, or in the military. Several years before his election to Congress in 2007, to convenience his patients, Dr. Broun developed a practice based upon a style that is almost unique in modern times – one devoted entirely to house calls. At age 18, he volunteered to serve our nation as a U.S. Marine. He was later commissioned as a medical officer in the U.S. Navy. After his election to Congress, Dr. Broun continued to practice medicine in his role as a medical officer in the U.S. Navy Reserves and was promoted from Lt. Commander to Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves. In 2012, Paul was deployed to Afghanistan where he treated sick and injured Marines and soldiers. As a military doctor he treated patients in the Navy Health Clinic at Marine Base Quantico and at the Brigade Medical Center at the U.S. Naval Academy. He was honorably discharged in 2014. Dr. Broun is deeply devoted to quality medical care for our Wounded Warriors and Veterans here at home. Paul and Niki Broun have been married since 1985. Dr. Broun has three adult children, Lucy, Carly and Collins. He has two grandchildren, Tillman and Lucile. The Brouns are members of Prince Avenue Baptist. He is a member of the American Legion, VFW, Military Order of World Wars, MOAA, the Marine Corps League, Navy League, and the Reserve Officers Association. An avid sportsman and hunter, Dr. Broun is a Life Member of both the NRA and Gun Owners of America. He is past president of the Georgia Sports Shooters Association and the Georgia Wildlife Federation. His is a former vice president of Safari Club International and is a Life Member of Quail Unlimited, Trout Unlimited and the Federation of Fly Fisherman. Dr. Broun is a strong constitutional conservative and served in Congress from 2007 - 2015. Listen in as Dr. Broun and I talk about several topics, including evolution! ************************** My guest in the second half hour will be Eric Seligman. Erik Seligman is an engineer living in Hillsboro, Oregon, with his wife and 6th-grade daughter. Seligman attended Carnegie Mellon University and Princeton University, and is a formal verification architect at Intel. He served from 2013-2017 on the board of the Hillsboro School District, the 4th largest k-12. district in Oregon. He has hosted a “fun math” podcast called "Math Mutation" for over 10 years, and written two books on non-politics topics. This year, he and local businessman Manuel Castaneda just launched a new podcast, "Stories of Communism." Erik's from my neck of the woods, did some good on the school board, and entertains via Math...crazy! It’s about WW1 news 100 years ago this week - and it’s about WW1 NOW - news and updates about the centennial and the commemoration.WW1 Centennial News is brought to you by the U.S. World War I Centennial Commission and the Pritzker Military Museum and Library. Today is May 3rd, 2017 and I’m Theo Mayer - Chief Technologist for the World War One Centennial Commission and your host today. World War One THEN 100 Year Ago This Week Although America can’t immediately field a giant fighting force and ship it to the Western Front - the US government is going “all in” in other ways.No longer limited under a declaration of war, the US Navy gets busy and sends destroyers across the Atlantic to engage German U-boats, which are ravaging allied shipping. Remember, the US Navy has been a force to be reckoned with for a hundred years - ever since it distinguished itself during the War of 1812 - a war, incidentally, AGAINST the British not for them. Meanwhile, we not only have an effective Navy but we also have money. Unlike our European allies and foes, we haven’t depleted our economy through years of war - so, President Wilson’s Treasury Secretary, William McAdoo puts together a ginormous loan for the Bank of England. He hands them a check for $200 million dollars - the equivalent of 4 billion today.. That is the largest single check the US Treasury had ever written. But we Americans are a pragmatic lot. This is - of course - not a gift. It’s a loan. And - as has become typical with a lot of US international governmental dealings - to this very day - the money is only to be used to pay American companies for products and services on behalf of the UK’s war efforts. So it’s a loan to our allie - to be paid back - and to be used to purchase American goods from US suppliers. War has always been good for business. One more interesting note… and yet another amazing parallel in history. Mr. McAdoo - our secretary of the treasury - also happens to be President Wilson’s son-in-law. Family in the cabinet is a long standing tradition! Meanwhile, on the western front in Europe things are near disastrous. The mutinies among the French troops are expanding. For example, the 2nd battalion of the 18th french regimen suffered two thirds casualties in the Nivelle offensive around April 16th.Just 10 days later, the general command sends in a new crop of officers, the original ones having been killed 10 days earlier. The men are ordered back to the front. This does not go down well - and Instead of heading for the front, the troops ransack the local stores of wine and get soused - shouting - “Down With The War”. They clearly have had enough. This was unfortunately not an isolated incident. On the same day in the Champagne region, two hundred men fled into the woods rather than report back to the front.Link: http://today-in-wwi.tumblr.com/post/160002079918/first-us-war-loan-to-britainhttp://today-in-wwi.tumblr.com/post/160108119108/us-congress-approves-selective-service-acthttp://today-in-wwi.tumblr.com/post/160140287178/french-mutinies-spread Great War Project Joining us to tell us more about how the germans are using the demoralization of the allied troops - not only in France but also in Russia - is former NPR correspondent Mike Shuster from the Great War Project blog. Russia is effectively in revolution - costing the allies a crucial partner - and delighting the Germans who happily FUEL the fires of dissent.Mike what’s happening with Russia?LINK:http://greatwarproject.org/2017/04/30/will-russia-stay-in-the-war/Thank you Mike. That was Mike Shuster from the Great War Project blog. War in the Sky In the great war in the sky 100 years ago this week, we are wrapping up Bloody April - a disastrous period for the allied flyers where a new pilot had a life expectancy of just 11 days. Two allied aces that are lost in late April and early March are American pilot John J. Malone and British ace Captain Albert Ball who is killed in a crash following a dog fight with Lothar Von Richthoven, the brother of Manfred Von Richthoven, the red baron - both brothers are German pilots. On the US domestic front, last week we told you the story about the launch of the Boeing Aircraft company. We received a lot of feedback and interest on the story. So with us today is Michael Lombardi, the senior corporate historian for the Boeing company. Michael thank you for joining us.Michael, re-branding his company, The Pacific Aero Products Company - a component supplier - to the Boeing Airplane Company - a airplane supplier - within days of a US declaration of war carries all the “business acumen”, “entrepreneurial spirit ”, ‘Innovation” and “technology” attributes that define much of the American Character that emerged as a result of WW1. We want to know more about mr. William Boeing. Could you give us some insight?[Michael reply]What did the company do during the 18 months of the war? And what did it do the years following?[Michael reply]WW1 is the war that changed the world - William Boeing and the company he founded are certainly a part of this. Thank you Michael Lombardi, Senior corporate historian for the Boeing company.LINK:http://ww1cc.org/warinthesky The Great War Channel For video about WW1 history - our friends at the Great War Channel on Youtube have some new posts for you this week: OUT OF THE TRENCHES is another episode of where Indy Nidell answers viewer questions Turmoil In The French Army expands on the challenges we have been speaking about. Many of these historic items were picked up off the battlefields by Louis C. Gulley, a local working as a postmaster for the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe during the war. He was a DOG --- who served for 18 months and participated in seventeen battles on the Western Front. Stubby saved his regiment from surprise mustard gas attacks, found and comforted the wounded, and once caught a German soldier by the seat of his pants, holding him until human American soldiers arrived. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and decorated with medals. Back home, his exploits were front page news in major newspapers. Well Sergeant Stubby’s exploits are being turned into an animated film - and with us today for an update on the movie is Jordan Beck, Head of Communications for Fun Academy Motion Pictures. Welcome Jordan.Give us an overview and update on the project[Jordan Beck]That was Jordan Beck, Head of Communications for Fun Academy Motion Pictures. Education The Monuments ProjectCombining our international and education reports - here is a story about the students at the American School in Paris. They recently started a new class assignment—the Monuments Project. With more than 35,000 Americans buried or memorialized overseas from World War I, there are thousands of untold stories, and the students are uncovering some of these unknown, personal histories. The project is a collaboration between the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) in the Paris area, the American School of Paris and with Lopez Island Middle High School of Washington State. 100 students in France and Washington State began working together to research the lives of soldiers who entered the service.Learn more about it by following the link in the podcast notes.Link: https://www.abmc.gov/news-events/news/telling-untold-stories-world-war-i-soldiers-sailors-and-marines-suresnes-american?utm_content=&utm_medium=email&utm_name=&utm_source=govdelivery&utm_term=#.WP-LAWeKGMEhttp://www.monumentsproject.org/ Posts and Articles Vande Mataram in the USAThere is a new sub-site that went live this week.Vande Mataram in the USA is a site about Asian Indians in World War I AmericaWhen the United States entered World War I, only a few tens of thousands of immigrants from colonial India lived in the nation, most on the West Coast. Yet this tiny community received enormous press coverage immediately after the declaration of war. The spotlight came from a wave of arrests of Indian Nationalists and Germans accused of conspiring to overthrow the British Raj. But while the press was focused on covering the plot and trial, many Asian Indian immigrants were serving in the United States armed forces. Their record of service and their struggle for civil rights after WWI led eventually to full citizenship rights for themselves and their descendants.Check out their story at ww1cc.org/vande V-A-N-D-E all lower case.link:http://www.worldwar1centennial.org/index.php/vande-mataram-home.html100 Cities/100 MemorialsFor 100 Cities / 100 Memorial - the $200,000 matching grant program for rescuing ailing WW1 memorials - we want to put out a reminder that there are less than 45 days before the grant application submissions close. We know this is not enough time to crank up a whole project - but don’t miss the deadline if you are doing one of these project. Eggelston was serving with a reservist unit while on his second tour of duty in Iraq in 2005 when he was severely injured. Two improvised explosive devices, commonly known as IEDs, were detonated next to his vehicle. He was thrown into another vehicle and suffered extensive injuries to his back, leg and head. Once he got to Walter Reed, it took two months before surgical appointments were made to mend the shattered discs in his back and install titanium rods and plates in his body, and another eight months before he was treated for traumatic brain injury.
Nick Popaditch is running for Congress. Gunny Pop authored a book, "Once A Marine," that tells the story of an RPG hitting his tank in Fallujah. The story of his injuries is phenomenal. The Imperial Valley Press, because Nick is not a liberal, and is a candidate for the U.S. Congress, published a political cartoon (see above) mocking the injuries of the decorated Iraq War veteran. The cartoon was published in The Imperial Valley Press, a newspaper in Imperial County, the location of the 51st District where Popaditch is running for Congress. The cartoon shows a poster of candidate Nick Popaditch, who has a patch over his right eye. Two youths with skateboards seem perplexed by the poster. "What does that remind you of?" one says. The other answers: "A James Bond super villain? A bald pirate? Uncle Fester with an eye patch." Popaditch lost the sight in his right eye during the battle for Fallujah as a tank commander in Iraq in 2004. He received the Silver Star and Purple Heart. Among those criticizing the cartoon is Cheryl Perez, president of the Ladies Auxiliary, Military Order of the Purple Heart, unit 49, San Diego. Tonight, Nick Popaditch joins the Political Pistachio Radio Revolution to discuss the cartoon. Join us live at 7pm Pacific. Conservative News and Commentary
