Mehmet Şimşek'in kamuda tasarruf paketi halka güven vermiyor. Modern tefeci bankalar doymaz! Doyurulamaz! Bankalar işçi denetiminde kamulaştırılmalı! Tek bir devlet bankası eliyle merkezi planlama! Türkiye Varlık Fonu'nun derhal lağvedilmesi özelleştirmelerin durdurulması ve Tüpraş'tan, Petkim'den Telekom'dan başlayarak bir kamulaştırma hamlesi başlatılması gerek! Türkiye'nin tasarruf modundan çıkartılması kamulaştırma moduna, anti-emperyalist mücadele moduna, işçi sınıfının öncülüğünde devrimci bir moda sokulması gerek!

In this week's episode Patrick and Greg explore the incredibly cool topic of survival analysis, which is a set of techniques that allows for powerful tests of predictors of the amount of time to experiencing an event; yet these models are not often used in many areas of study. Along the way they also discuss the date of your death, running with scissors, Patrick's Audi A8, because she's dead, say my name, the good guys, things that annoy me, you tell me, using your brain, sofa forts, back dating checks, logistic regression on steroids, and coming to the party late. We hope you enjoy this week's episode.Stay in contact with Quantitude! Twitter: @quantitudepod Web page: quantitudepod.org Merch: redbubble.com

Precio: Los he visto… ¡desde 1.000 €! 12+1. Maserati Quattroporte IV. Renault Laguna. Precio: Los he visto desde 5.000 €.

Turbina a reacción. 10. De pistones opuestos. ¡Cilindros no pistones! A ver, he revisado mis guiones y creo que no me repito.

When we are outside looking in, things always look harder than they really are. In 2005, I discovered podcasting and it seemed far beyond anything I could ever do. The tech looked far too difficult for me to ever launch a podcast. Now, you may already have a podcast. You may have mastered the tech necessary to publish every week. If you listen closely, this episode can help you just as much as the new podcaster. We often encounter new challenges in our lives and think those feats are far beyond our capabilities. Think about the things you wish you could accomplish in the upcoming year. Maybe it is building a businessess around your podcast. You might have some really big names on your interview wish list. Maybe you've been wanting to build a sales funnel, but have no idea where to even start. All great journeys begin with the first step. Unfortunately with my podcast, it took me 8 years before I took that first step. I want to see you find success much quicker. RADIO It was March 2005. I was sitting in my living room reading a copy of Wired magazine. This was 2005 before everyone was reading magazines online. I was old school with the physical pages between my fingers. Wired magazine covers the latest in science and technology. It is nowhere near my wheelhouse, and I have no idea why I was reading it. This is probably the only issue of Wired I have ever owned. My magazines of choice have always been magazines like Inc. and Entrepreneur. I have also had a subscription to Fast Company every now and then. At the time, I was the program director of a Top 40 radio station and had my own show. Both were very successful, but the industry was changing rapidly. Radio was becoming homogonized in a big way. Stations were beginning to sound the same. Creativity was being sucked out by big business. The industry was losing its personality in favor of best practices. Think color-by-number. Radio stations weren't finding great, new artists to expose. We weren't doing big, exciting promotions any longer. Morning shows and other on-air talent were being told to shut up and play the music. Which was the same music you were hearing everywhere else. There had to be something more for me. WIRED In that March 2005 issue of Wired magazine, I discovered an article called "Adam Curry Wants To Make You An iPod Radio Star". Maybe this was the reason I had the magazine. With his big 80s hair, Adam Curry was an MTV VJ from 1987 into the mid-90s. When MTV was music television that played music videos, Curry was one of the guys jocking it between the tunes. Now we are 10 years past his MTV heyday. Adam Curry's tech side has flourished. He was actually the first owner of MTV.com before anyone realized owning URLs was a thing. Curry was 40 in 2005. He launched iPodder a year earlier. Wired described the platform like this … "A tiny application that he believes has the power to challenge commercial radio. iPodder is the bastard offspring of the blog and the Apple MP3 player. It combines the hyperactive talkiness of blogs and the hipness of iPods into something utterly new: the podcast. iPodder uses the blog syndication tool RSS to automatically download homebrew radio shows, podcasts, directly into a portable MP3 player." I was mesmerized. So much so that I tore that article out of the magazine and saved it. I don't even read Wired magazine and here I am saving an article from it. ANYONE Curry's studio was his Audi A8. He would record from the front seat with his interview guest in the passenger. This was crazy to me. The article continued with, "Welcome to podcasting, the medium that promises a future where anyone can make radio, instead of just listen to it." Anyone. That was the magical word. You see, I had been in radio for 15 years at this point. I wanted so badly to own a radio station. Unfortunately, stations were being gobbled up by big companies. The ownership dream was fading. Now big haired Adam Curry comes along and says I could do it from my car. And, people would actually listen. But I didn't know the first thing about tech. I barely knew what an .mp3 was. We were still playing music at the radio station off of CDs. I surely didn't know what an RSS feed was. PERFECT Then there was the issue of perfectionism. How could I possibly record a quality podcast from the front seat of a car when I had been working to create perfect radio audio for a decade-and-a-half? We had perfect studios and perfect microphones. The audio software cost thousands of dollars. Scripts were fine-tuned and meticulous. Now Adam was hanging some mics from the visors in his car and recording whatever came to mind. How could this be? I tucked the article away and continued on my radio journey. DAVE Then one day in late 2012 I received an email from Dave Jackson at the School of Podcasting. I had been writing a blog about content creation for podcasters. Most of the content was mined from my years in radio. My writing had been picked up by Blog World. They were looking to expand the podcast section of their website and liked what I was writing. Dave saw the articles and reached out to see how we might help each other. That was the start of a great friendship. It was also the start of my podcast. I told Dave what I didn't know. He showed me how easy it could be. Launching a podcast takes minimal equipment. You need a USB mic and a computer to plug it into. You need some software to edit the audio. Audacity is free. Then, you need an audio host like Libsyn to store and distribute the show. By the way, get your first month of Libsyn free using the promo code PTC at Libsyn.com. Next thing you know, my first episode was published in 2013. It was a lot easier than I expected. And who knows when it would have actually happened if Dave hadn't reached out that day. We all have enough information. Sometimes we just need a little accountability. What are you working on today? In the next 12 months, what do you want to accomplish? Chances are, the answers are right in front of you. They are just disguised as complicated. You don't know what you don't know. If you look under the hood and examine the real steps it takes to get there, you'll be surprised. It usually isn't nearly as hard as it looks. You just need to take the first step. Get started. BACK TO ADAM The funny thing is, I went back to revisit that Wired article. At the end of the piece, it says … How to make your own podcast ... Plug in a USB headset with earphone and microphone into your computer. Install the free Audacity .mp3 recorder for Windows, Mac or Linux. Make a recording and save it as an .mp3. Upload the .mp3 file to your website or blog. Follow the instruction on iPodder to create an RSS feed on your site. Today it is very similar, but much easier. Libsyn creates that RSS feed for you. Today, you plug in the mic and record the show. Audacity is still free, though I prefer Hindenburg Journalist for $95. Find a link at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/JV. Export and upload the .mp3 file to Libsyn just like you would upload a video to Facebook and you are set. Your podcast is up and running. GET STARTED But, like I said … we have enough information. We just need some accountability. There are times we just need someone to show us the way rather than telling us. The information was right in front of me. It took 8 years before Dave gave me the shove I needed to get started. Now, I'm 368 episodes into this journey. For the love of driving. Great machines that delight and maybe surprise. Tony and Mike pick a few favourites: some driven from the back, some from the front, a couple driven at the Nürburgring, one at Castle Combe, some on road and one on rally stages. Add some Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust specials – like the Austin Powers Shaguar, plus the A8 Ronin chase and you've got the usual eclectic mix that makes Car-Chum unique. Enjoy.

1. Uber selling ATG News is circulating that Uber is prepping a sale of its self-driving car division Uber ATG -- Advanced Technologies Group -- to Aurora. Once worth over $7B, this sale would come almost three years after Uber's autonomous driving ambitions were stalled following the tragic accident in which an Uber test vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian in Arizona. But is this really game over for Uber's self-driving car plans? I think not. 2. Motional in Vegas Two episodes back we talked about Motional -- the joint venture between Hyundai and Aptiv which recently partnered up with shuttle service Via -- and now there's news that Motional will itself begin driverless car testing in Las Vegas. This news comes right on the heels of Cruise's recent announcement that it too had been granted a driverless testing permit in San Francisco. 3. Honda reaches L3 Despite Audi's claim not long ago that it had achieved a Level 3 vehicle with its Audi A8, Honda says its 2021 Legend will be the first widely available consumer vehicle with Level 3 technology enabling so-called "traffic jam assist" functionality. Like the Audi, this means that in traffic jams, meaning slow traffic speeds, presumably with cars in front and behind, and with clear lane indications, the driver will be able to take its eyes off the road unless and until the car alerts the driver the intervene. This is different from a Tesla and its impressive Autopilot system which requires human attention at all times, thereby qualifying it as a Level 2 system.
Key Takeaways and Actionable Insights What exactly do we mean by paradigm? In our project to make a useful link between Austrian economic theory and business practice, we earlier introduced the Austrian Business Model. This is a recipe to make a profit — a template adaptable to any individual firm. A paradigm is precedent to a business model (see Mises.org/E4E_90_PDF). It's the underlying way of thinking — a set of values, beliefs, concepts and practices that combine to constitute a distinctive entrepreneurial approach to business. Per Bylund's exposition of the principle of Facilitation of Value leads to a new — Austrian — paradigm for business. Here is the framework: The Purpose of Business is to facilitate value for customers. In today's interconnected, fast-changing world, businesses are formed and managed with the intention of ensuring value experiences for customers. This challenge is fraught with uncertainty, because value is an emergent — and therefore unpredictable — property of the interaction of people, artifacts and behaviors in complex systems. Customers, whether consumers or businesses, operate in their own system. They must fit everything they consume into their existing system — their life or their business processes and organization. Customers experience value in their own systemic context. If they own a car, for example, they experience ownership value within a system of taking kids to school, commuting to work, and shopping, as well as in an intersecting system of service, maintenance, fueling, accessorizing, and replacing worn parts. Businesses interface with the customer's systems from their own system of design, procurement, resource management, partnering, warehousing, distribution, payments, technological enablement, regulatory compliance, communications and many more elements. A business system facilitates value to realize the customer's experience within their own system. The value of any offering is positively perceived by customers when they fit into their system is felt to be a good one and the offering contributes to system improvement or enhancement in some dimension. Uncertainty is always present because the system improvement can not be predicted with certainty in advance. Austrian economics provides the principles for entrepreneurs, managers, and strategists to establish a unique, sustainable, profitable, and scalable process to facilitate value for customers. The end-user / consumer takes the primary role. A business can not be an assembly of resources or an expression of core competencies or the implementation of innovation in isolation. It can't be the result of a strategy to penetrate a market or disrupt a competitive set without first understanding the hopes and dreams and aspirations of customers. It can't be a simplistic choice from a set of business models on the business school shelf. A business must stem from giving the customer the primary role. The very purpose of a business is to please customers by serving their needs, and so their perception and preferences must define the business design. Since the needs of customers are subjective, idiosyncratic, changeable, and context-dependent, methodological individualism — making the individual the unit of analysis, rather than groups or segments or markets or industries — is the indicated approach. This approach is a lot different than ideas of shareholder value or stakeholder value. It is sometimes acknowledged in terms such as consumer-centricity or consumer-first. But those commitments tend to be tactical and implementational. Relentlessly and unfailingly taking the point of view of the customer is fundamental to the new business paradigm. It's what make business purposeful and ethical, sustainable and responsible. Value is determined by the end-user or consumer. What consumers seek from business is value. Value is hard to define and challenging to quantify because it is a subjective experience of the consumer, within that consumer's own individual context. What's perceived as valuable by one individual consumer will not be the same as another individual, and any individual can change their perceptions or their ranking of what's more valuable at any time. Value, therefore, can not be created by a firm or a brand, despite the traditional use of that language. Value is formed in the consumer domain, as an emergent property of the consumer's choices, behaviors and context. Take a laptop PC for example. The value experience changes depending on whether the user is a gamer, an executive in the financial system, or a video editor. It varies based on the software the user installs, the usage advice he or she receives from peers and experts, the quality of the user's network, their preferences for in-use performance, and many more variables. You can examine the same value experience thought experiment for any good or service of your choice, e.g. the value of an Audi A8 to a family of 6 living in rural South Dakota compared to a family of two in Manhattan with a one-bedroom apartment and a single parking space. Value emerges in lived experiences within these varied contexts. For a business to business enterprise, it is sometimes expedient to limit the value analysis to the final purchaser / end user. There are sometimes some special value considerations in these contexts. For example, business customers tend to evaluate every economic choice in money terms - does it lower costs or contribute to higher revenues? But it is also the case that a business customer is often, in fact, multiple users (whether a procurement committee or a department all using the same item), and so a group rather than individual assessment of value is appropriate. Nevertheless, value remains a subjective, idiosyncratic, changeable phenomenon. Empathy for customer dissatisfaction is the starting point for business development. Dissatisfaction with the status quo — Austrian economists sometimes call it unease — is the raw material for business development. The genius of consumers is to always sense that their experience could be better than it is. Empathy is the diagnostic skill of observing and analyzing behavioral data and deducing emotional drivers for change and innovation. A customer searching online for more efficient home heating solutions may be dissatisfied with the ambient conditions in the home, or with the level of his or her gas bills. An individual interview can determine which of these — or other alternatives — applies and point the way to a desired solution. The entrepreneurial practice is to focus empathetic attention on the inner drivers which are manifested in observable behavior. There is no shortage of customer dissatisfactions to be addressed by businesses. The skill of empathy is to advance beyond taking the point of view of the consumer and to feel the experience that the consumer feels, and to identify the feelings that really matter. This is counter-factual — it's not actually possible to feel what another human being feels — and is therefore an act of imagination. Imagination provides the energy for consumers' dissatisfaction (they imagine a better future) and for entrepreneurs' creativity (they imagine what dissatisfaction feels like for the consumer, and they imagine solutions to that dissatisfaction). Empathic design To advance from imagination to a business plan is an act of design. Design can be captured as a process in which an innovating business creates a blueprint for a good or service or technology or other artifact that presents a practical solution to a customer. There are many design process alternatives. The shared design principle is to start with an identifiable customer with a problem to be solved, and progress towards a solution with which the customer can interact and can evaluate. Early prototype solutions should be adequate to share a resonant imagination between entrepreneur and customer, and to stimulate realistic responses from customers regarding features and attributes they do or do not find valuable, and flexible enough to accommodate frequent iterative adjustments based on those responses. Uncertainty exists as a barrier to be overcome in the delivery of new solutions to customer dissatisfaction. Adaptiveness is the entrepreneurial response to uncertainty. Uncertainty is integral to the business paradigm. Uncertainty can be experienced as the impossibility of predicting the future because of the extreme complexity of the interactions of customers, entrepreneurial offerings and potential solutions, opportunity costs, transaction costs, environmental factors and other system elements. The response to uncertainty is adaptation: making a change in a business offering and monitoring the resulting change in customer acceptance, customer behavior, customer interactions or other consequential results. Favorable changes are preserved, unfavorable ones discarded. Continuous dynamic change then becomes the norm for businesses in an adaptive system. There is no equilibrium, no stasis, no predictive planning, no stable combination of assets or resources. There are no system-imposed or structural boundaries to a firm's activities, just the subjective entrepreneurial judgment about interaction with customers to facilitate customer value. In complexity theory terminology, customer value is the constraint to the system that can shape change and emergent outcomes (think of Steve Jobs constraining his designers to “no buttons” on Apple devices). Businesses accumulate capital as a result of the flows of income from customers. The measure of business effectiveness is the flow of income from customers. Insofar as entrepreneurial actions set in motion a flow which is projectable into the future, a business is in a position to make capital investments both to expand its capacity to generate income flows and to create new innovations to stimulate new flows. Current flows are subject to change at any time when customer preferences change, or their environment changes or there are shocks to the customer's system. Entrepreneurs must develop accurate appraisals of which of their assets - in what specific combination - are most responsible for generating income flows, and establish them in such a way as to be flexible in rearranging them and recombining them in response to (or in anticipation of) market change. Future flows from investments in innovation are uncertain and unpredictable. Entrepreneurial skill in identifying productive investments (foresight) differentiates more successful from less successful firms. Also reinhören – kostet ja nichts!

Show #583 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Tuesday 17th September 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story to save you time. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. TESLA ALLOWS DISCOUNTS AND OFFERS 2 YEARS OF FREE SUPERCHARGING "Tesla is pulling out the big guns for its end-of-the-quarter push. Electrek has learned that Tesla is authorizing its sales staff to give two years of free Supercharging, and it is discounting inventory vehicles by matching them with cheaper orders." reports Fred today: "While Tesla claims it has been trying to move away from it, the automaker often ends up making massive sales and delivery pushes at the end of each quarter. Last quarter, Tesla pushed hard and offered bonuses to employees in order to achieve record deliveries, and they were successful. Sources familiar with the matter told Electrek that Tesla has authorized its sales staff to offer two years of free Supercharging for new Model 3 orders that get delivered by the end of the month, which coincides with the end of the quarter. Furthermore, they are also authorizing sales staff to waive the fees of up to two features to match orders with inventory vehicles, which can result in important discounts. The features are limited to paint colors, interior, and wheels. For example, you could be ordering a Model 3 Standard Plus in white with 18-inch wheels for $38,990 and if Tesla happens to have the same Model 3 in red with 19-inch wheels, Tesla’s sales staff can approve the sale of the vehicle for the same price" https://electrek.co/2019/09/13/tesla-discounts-free-supercharging-end-of-the-quarter-push/ FORD'S MUSTANG-INSPIRED SUV BOASTS 300-PLUS MILE RANGE "Ford seems prepared to bring all the ammunition it can for its first electric vehicle, the unnamed Mustang-inspired SUV. This Thursday, the automaker launched a new website for electric vehicles in Europe and quoted a 370-mile range for the electric SUV, based on WLTP estimates." says CNET: "WLTP figures are far more liberal than our EPA estimates. Some quick math for a conversion pegs an EPA estimate to land somewhere around 330 miles of range on the high side. If Ford does nail that figure, it will be the only other electric car to rival Tesla's Model S Long Range, which packs an estimated 335-mile range. A Ford representative underscored the 370-mile range figure will not mimic an EPA estimate and said the target is still at least 300 miles for the US market. It's important to note the website also says "up to 370 miles." The phrasing indicates this figure will definitely correspond to a range-topping model with other models beneath it boasting shorter ranges, but likely less expensive price points." https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/ford-mustang-suv-electric-range-specs-features/ VOLKSWAGEN PLANNING TO CREATE ONE OPERATING SYSTEM FOR ALL OF ITS BRANDS "Christian Senger, head of the Digital Car and Services division for Volkswagen Group, tells Ars Technica, “Software is extremely complex nowadays. Each function is connected with everything — in the car, in the cloud, with the dealers — and we see that too many projects are in too much trouble. The process chain is not stable anymore; there’s so much inefficiency to this process. Today, we build more than 10 million cars a year. But they are running on roughly eight different electronic architectures." reports CleanTechnica: "Senger points out that the Android operating system is capable of running perfectly well on smartphones that cost as little as $60 to those selling for $1000 or more. [VW] will consolidate all of its software development into one new division that will employ up to 10,000 people within the next 5 years. The objective is to create a single unified automotive operating system that will run everything from a VW Polo to an Audi A8. Senger says Volkswagen has decided to use Android as the basis of its new software architecture, particularly because of the robust third party app ecosystem that is based on Android." https://cleantechnica.com/2019/09/16/volkswagen-planning-to-create-one-operating-system-for-all-of-its-brands/ GM CONSIDERS LAUNCHING THEIR OWN BATTERY PRODUCTION "General Motors apparently intends to produce their own battery cells in the future. This is the result of statements GM has made to the US car union United Auto Workers (UAW) in current talks to settle a strike." says electrive: "Within the framework of contract negotiations, General Motors has promised the union investments in the USA totalling 7 billion dollars over the next four years – among other things for the production of an electrically driven pickup in Detroit as well as for the aforementioned production of battery cells in Lordstown in the US state of Ohio. According to Reuters, GM’s electric pickup is scheduled for 2022 and could roll off the production line at the Detroit-Hamtramck plant. There is no further information on the apparently planned production of battery cells." https://www.electrive.com/2019/09/17/gm-considers-launching-their-own-battery-production/ SPY SHOTS SHOW VW ID.4 ELECTRIC SUV WE'LL GET IN THE U.S. "The model we're expecting to launch the German giant's new line of electric vehicles on this side of the Atlantic is the ID.4 – the production version of the ID. Crozz concepts showcased in Shanghai and Frankfurt two years ago. And these latest spy shots, captured in the Austrian Alps, give us our best look yet at how it'll appear in production guise." reports Motor1.com: "the ID.4 will be taller than most, offering a more commanding driving position and increased interior space – somewhere in between that of the short-wheelbase, five-seat Tiguan offered overseas and the elongated, seven-seat version (known elsewhere as the Tiguan Allspace) that we get here in America. The ID.4's larger form will necessitate a more potent electric powertrain than the smaller ID.3's. So in conjunction with the 200-horsepower electric motor driving the rear wheels on the hatchback, we're anticipating Volkswagen will install a 100-horsepower motor on the front axle to deliver a combined 300 hp and through-the-road all-wheel drive." https://www.motor1.com/news/371167/volkswagen-id4-spy-shots/ CATL CONSIDERS US PLANT, TARGETS 45 PERCENT ENERGY-DENSITY BOOST IN 5 YEARS "China’s Contemporary Amerex Technology Co., better known as CATL, has in the past several years become a global battery giant. Last week one of its senior executives revealed to Reuters that the company is considering a manufacturing expansion into North America, even though the market for EVs will lag that of China and Europe. " says Green Car Reports: "The company is already planning a battery “gigafactory” of its own in Erfurt, Germany—a facility that will start production in 2021 and be one of the largest battery plants in Europe. CATL announced firm numbers for the improvements. It can now accomplish more than 200 watt-hours per kilogram with its automotive lithium-ion batteries for EVS (up from 180 wh/kg). Energy density with its current chemistries has reached 240 watt-hours per kilogram, and it’s targeting 350 wh/kg—a 45 percent improvement—by 2024." https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1125058_catl-considers-us-plant-targets-45-percent-energy-density-boost-in-5-years ON THE ROAD TO NORMAL New research conducted by Go Ultra Low, the joint government and industry campaign to promote the uptake of electric vehicles, has found that two thirds (69%) of people expect “electric cars” to be referred to simply as “cars” by the year 2030. The research, which looked at the normalisation process of new technology, found people seeing their family and friends driving them (33%), as well more being visible on the road (49%), as the two main factors driving a change in the way we perceive EVs. This comes as registrations for battery electric vehicles hit a record high, with a 93.1% increase in year-to-date registrations compared with the same timeframe last year. When asked what factors would improve the likelihood of purchasing an EV, close to half (45%) of respondents cited improved charging infrastructure. https://electriccarsreport.com/2019/09/on-the-road-to-normal-two-thirds-of-people-expect-electric-cars-to-be-referred-to-as-cars-by-2030/ TESTED: RENAULT ZOE CAN GRID-BALANCE "Dutch smart charging specialist Jedlix and the Elaad Competence Centre have concluded that Renault Zoe can be used in a balancing capacity of TenneT in the Netherlands." reports Electrive: "To use Renault Zoe for network balancing, the car’s charging process had to be able to react to real-time signals. At Elaad’s test centre in Arnhem, in the Netherlands, the two partners conclusively proved that the Zoe is able to respond to TenneT signals within seconds. According to Jedlix, this kind of suitability is further proof that electric vehicle batteries can be efficient and competitive resources that contribute to increasing the flexibility requirements of national grids. Renault already has two smart grid projects underway: on the French Island of Belle-Île-en-Mer where the system on the island will combine a car-sharing service with EVs, local solar energy storage and an intelligent charging system. Renault is converting used batteries to power the largest holiday resort on the island. Similarly, on the Portuguese island of Porto Santo, several Renault Zoe is being used as part of a smart grid project to be part of an intelligent power grid. There, Zoe models are retrofitted prototypes that allow bidirectional charging. https://www.electrive.com/2019/09/12/renault-zoe-can-grid-balance/ QUESTION OF THE WEEK The MYEV.com Question Of The Week… What is your dream EV roadtrip? The ISDA Secure Transportation and Executive Protection News Podcast for Friday, October 26th, 2018 ====================== In Vehicle News From Consumer Reports Vehicle Reliability Survey Consumer Reports just announced the results of its Annual Auto Survey based on data on reliability collected from the vehicles of over 500,000 Consumer Reports members. From this data, Consumer Reports can let shoppers know which vehicles are likely to have troublesome turbocharged engines, infuriating infotainment systems, and taxing transmissions, among other problems. Consumer Reports’ list is made up of 29 car manufacturers and points out each brand’s most unreliable and reliable vehicle. The survey reinforces our recommendation that consumers should avoid brand-new or redesigned models and wait a year or two until the automaker has had the chance to work out the kinks and headaches that often arise. The top 5 most unreliable vehicles are the Volvo S90 which suffered from display screen freezes; problems with the climate system and interior cabin rattles along with complaints about engine knocking or pinging, followed by the Cadillac ATS, Tesla Model x, Dodge Ram 3500, and GMC Sierra 2500 Heavy Duty. Looking at the reliability score of a few of the most common Executive Vehicles The 2019 Lexus LS has a score of 69, a road test score of 72 out of 100, with a reliability score of 3 out 5, and owner satisfaction of 4 out 5 The 2019 Genesis G90 has an overall score of 72, a road test score of 89 out of 100, with a reliability score of 2 out 5 with reported problems in the areas of body hardware and power equipment, and an owner satisfaction of 5 out 5. The 2019 Audi A8 does not have an overall score as of yet, however the reliability score is 3 out 5, and the owner satisfaction of 4 out 5. The 2019 Chevrolet Suburban has an overall score of 69, a road test score of 74 out of 100, a reliability score of 3 out 5, and owner satisfaction of 4 out 5. The 2019 Lincoln Navigator has an overall score of 60, a road test score of 65 out of 100, a reliability score of 3 out 5, with an owner satisfaction rate of 4 out 5. https://www.consumerreports.org/car-reliability-owner-satisfaction/who-makes-the-most-reliable-cars/ ====================== In Security News From CNN Investigators search Florida mail facility for clues to bombmaker The nationwide manhunt for the person or people who sent 10 potential bombs to critics of President Donald Trump and CNN's office in New York led authorities to a mail facility in South Florida on Thursday night. Several of the packages went through a US Postal facility in Opa-locka, Florida, two law enforcement officials familiar with the investigation said. On Thursday night, the Miami-Dade County Police Department said it was assisting federal agents who were at the facility as part of the ongoing investigation. https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/26/politics/bombs-clinton-obama-waters-biden/index.html ====================== And from ISDA Member Bill Peeler, CEO, and owner of Peeler Group International Bombs and Bomb Threats – A Refresher As a professional you depend on our training and not your emotions. In the past couple of days, we have observed the location of at least nine explosive devices in the United States. As with any situation where aggressive behavior is displayed through terroristic acts or violent threats, emotions are charged. As my good friend, Dr. Richard Kobetz would say, “it’s an old bottle of wine with a new label”. To this end we adjust our methods of mitigation in these situations as required by contemporary times, having said this, we still look to historical protocols that have worked and we stick with them. So, to assist with focusing on what matters I thought I would provide a quick refresher as to what anyone should be aware of and what you should be doing on a daily basis. Bill’s article also includes a Bomb Threat Caller checklist and a Suspicious package checklist http://www.peelergroup.com/bombs-and-bomb-threats-a-refresher/ ====================== In Cyber Security News From Security Magazine Phishing Attacks up by 297 Percent in Q3 2018 A report illustrates how cybercriminals are increasingly targeting retailers and their customers through digital and social channels as retailers leverage new channels for increased revenue opportunities "The Retail and eCommerce Threat Landscape Report (October 2018), notes a 297 percent rise in the number of false retailer websites designed to "phish" for customer credentials. In Q3 alone there was an average of 23 phishing sites per company, which is a significant increase from 2017, which averaged 5.9 phishing attacks per company. In addition, says the report, there was a 278 percent rise in stolen goods listed on black markets for resale. Even more: an average of 22.1 internal login pages or development servers exposed per retail company in 2018. When accessed this gives cybercriminals a portal into the retailer's internal network Fake apps and social media profiles are on the rise with a 469 percent spike in suspicious applications and a 345 percent increase in fake social media profiles (respectively) in Q4 2017 https://www.securitymagazine.com/articles/89512-phishing-attacks-up-by-297-percent-in-q3-2018 ==================== Links to all news stories mentioned in this podcast are available at the archive website securitydrivernews.libsyn.com. The Executive Vehicle and Secure Transportation Survey has been conducted every two years since 2013. Practitioners who participated in the survey represent the corporate (37% of participants), high net worth (21%), and private security community (23%). The participants had an average of approximately 15 years of experience. Keep in mind that the survey indicates vehicles that are most commonly used, not necessarily the best vehicles. The survey covers all aspects of secure transportation. The goal of the survey is to examine trends and collect data that will help develop a broader perspective of the secure transportation profession. A Summary of the 2017 Report This year's report consists of 36 pages of data with supplemental articles. The additional information is added to enhance and support the data. TYPES OF VEHICLES The sedan used most often for executive transportation is the Mercedes S-Class. This choice has not changed since 2013. SEDAN TYPE PERCENTAGE Mercedes S-Class 28.3% Audi A8 15.7% BW7 Series 12.6% Lexus LS460 10.2% Cadillac XTS 7.9% The most commonly used SUV is the Suburban. The Suburban has been at the top of the list of most used SUVs since 2013, but this year there was an almost 20% decrease in its use (from 51% to 33%). SUV TYPE PERCENTAGE Chevrolet Suburban 33.1% Cadillac Escalade 12.9% GMC Denali 12.9% GMC Yukon 6.7% Supplemental Information The use of armored vehicles has fluctuated, going from 15.5% in 2013 to 22.9% in 2015 and to 14.1% in 2017. The surveys indicate that the use of armored vehicles ebbs and flows from year to year, but every year a substantial number of participants are using armored vehicles. To supplement that survey data, we added the ISDA white paper “Best Practices for Purchasing Armored Vehicles.” The survey indicates that 62% of all participants use a rental vehicle, so we added Joe Autera's seminal article on renting vehicles, “Renting Vehicles and Secure Transportation; Best Practices for a Less-Than-Perfect Solution.” We found that 55% of the participants did not know about the IRS ruling on secure transportation. Support information includes articles concerning the IRS code governing secure transportation. The supplemental information is a small percentage of that which is available to ISDA members. ISDA and its member's curate information specifically designed to increase member knowledge and marketability. The majority of the information is password protected and available to ISDA members only. The information is disseminated via blog posts, free online learning, and white papers. The 36-page report is free to ISDA members and those who took part in the survey and requested the information. Monday 9th April 2018. A shout out to Simon LaSalle who listen in Virginia. “Hi Martyn I enjoy the show every day, I like to support my favourite podcasts on Patreon, do you have a page?” Thanks Simon, I love hearing from people who enjoy the news every day. I must admit I’d had to pay for more storage and streaming because the podcast seems to have found a wider audience lately but no not yet, I’m happy to foot the cost myself but your support is really appreciated. ELECTRIC GT We’ll start with a tease and GT Holding is the organisers of the electric Tesla GT series. ”Electric GT Holdings have got big news to share ... tomorrow! Follow us and sign up for our newsletter now so you don't miss the big announcement.” I’ll cover the news on tomorrows show for you. I’m hoping it’s going to be the dates of the first races, maybe some drivers, or even more specs on the cars. We know they were approved by the FIA on 1st Feb, and a week before that the car passed the crash tests. And that car being a Tesla P100DL. MUSK TWEETS Elon has been using Twitter increasingly lately, not just for chat, but specific announcements. And in response to a question about the dual motor Model 3 he said: CARWOW REVIEW LEAF 2.O One of the most visited car channels on YouTube is Carwow and now they’ve spent some time with the next gen Nissan LEAF. “The Nissan Leaf is a comfortable, eco-friendly family car with good looks. However, its infotainment system is outdated and the interior quality is inconsistent” Pros: Decent range Big boot for a car this size Nippy Cons: Some cheap-looking materials inside Regenerative brakes feel odd at first Dated infotainment MERCEDES ADD ANOTHER EV We’re quickly learning about the naming conventions of major car makers with their electric models. With VW we have the ID, ID CROZZ and ID VIZZION, with Audi it will be the e-tron range, with BMW we know they’ve registered iX1, iX2, iX3 etc. And with Mercedes, the EQC was quickly joined by the EQA and now the EQS, which will be C-Class sized. Electrive reports on Michael Kelz, head of development for the EQC Crossover which should be on sale by the end of this year, expects the EQS to be available by 2020. The sedan will be an individual model, based on the MEA architecture platform, and will not simply be an electric version of the existing vehicle, in this case the regular S-class. This marks a difference to the other traditional luxury car brands, as Audi and Jaguar both decided to electrify their vehicles instead of redesigning them, particularly with the Audi A8 and the Jaguar XJ. Concerning the name of the new vehicle, Mercedes has been planning the move since 2016, when they reserved the rightsto the names EQA, EQC, EQE, EQG and EQS in the UK. Recently the car manufacturer also reserved the naming rights in Canada for the EQ family additions. CNET say: “It will be separate from the standard S-Class, which is expected to begin a new generation in 2020, the same year that it's believed Mercedes will debut the EQ S. The two cars will reportedly be built on separate platforms, with the EQ S relying on an EV-specific chassis engineered to accommodate large batteries.” FORD STLL UNCLEAR ON ELECTRIC FUTURE Ford aren’t exactly known as electric trailblazers, and 247WallSt website reports: “Year to date Ford’s shares are down 11.7%. GM’s are off 9.9%. Toyota’s are down 2.3%. Ford’s domestic sales rose 3.5% in March to 243,021. Its sales for the first quarter are down 2.7%. The deeper issue is whether Ford has a chance to be a leader in electric cars and autonomous vehicles. CEO Jim Hackett’s plans have not caught the eyes of investors. Ford is seen as too far behind most of the industry for both categories. It not only faces massive plans from every other major car company but from smaller companies led by Tesla”. ELECTRIFY THE SKIES Thelocal.no report on regional carrier Wideroe Airlines, operating in Norway's far north, plans to renew its fleet of twin-engine Bombardier Dash 8 planes with electric-powered aircraft by 2030: “"Many people say that we must get rid of air transport because we will never be able to deal with emissions and noise, but this is an outdated approach," said Norwegian Transport Minister Ketil Solvik-Olsen, who recently hosted an aviation conference in Oslo. Norway, the largest oil and gas producer in western Europe, is paradoxically a pioneer in the field of electric transport. The Nordic nation aims for all new vehicle registrations to be zero emission by 2025and launched a first electric ferry in early 2015.” After land and water, the northern kingdom is now turning to the sky with the goal of electrifying all short haul flights in just over 20 years. "In my mind, there is no doubt: by 2040 Norway will be operating totally electric," said Dag Falk-Petersen, head of the country's public airport operator, Avinor. I’d love to spread the word about electric cars so, if you can, share this somebody who might be interested.

Have you ever wanted a luxury car that can actually leap up into the air to protect you in a collision? Audi thinks the answer to that question is yes - and it also feels that you're so sick of driving that the new A8 should take care of most of that too, as Sami discovers during his time in Valencia with the redesigned 2019 model. As for Benjamin, he spends the week with the Mercedes-AMG E43, a confusingly-branded mid-range version of the comfort-minded mid-size sedan from Mercedes-Benz. We also talk lightning rod shifters, fake manual transmissions, and why Benjamin feels like he was hit by a truck after a weekend on the track in his Datsun.

Just months after Apple confirmed it is in fact developing a driverless vehicle, California THIS WEEK has given the hardware and software giant permission to test them on the streets of the Golden State. This adds yet another major competitor in the autonomous vehicle race for what some reporters are calling the future of safer driving. And while Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, Infiniti, and BMW are all in this race in terms of building the hardware. It looks as though Apple is focused not necessarily on creating the vehicle itself, but the platform. And while we don’t know if it’s building the platform on NVIDIA’s new Drive PX2 system, which uses graphics processing unit or GPU technology, it is being used by 80 different partners, including Tesla and Audi. For those of you with a Tesla, the “autopilot” was built upon NVIDA’s new Drive PX2 system and the autonomous driving technology within Audi’s new A8, expected to be released this summer, will be as well. So, I brought in the senior director of automotive for NVIDIA to talk about what’s driving your driverless vehicle, the difference between the autonomous driving technology in a Tesla versus the upcoming Audi A8. We also talk about the safety of autonomous vehicles. While I can understand how an all-driverless transportation network could be safer as computers can be more predictable and actually communicate seamlessly with one another via Bluetooth connectivity, I question how safe truly can it be when you have a mix of humans and computers on the roadways as humans are unpredictable. Shapiro also addresses the liability issue if and when an accident does occur. Plus, Shapiro addresses how manufacturers can develop a car that meets the public AND lawmakers where they are now, and guides them to where they want them to be technology-wise in order to accelerate adoption. Also on the show, a very different type of company that is competing in the autonomous driving market. It’s called, “Local Motors.” It’s taking a unique approach. It’s crowd sourcing the design of future vehicles by posting challenges that inspire engineers, designers, and developers around the world to get involved and submit their design of future vehicles. A that people are already buying to use on private property such as government facilities and even amusement parks. We talk to Local Motors Chief Strategist Justin Fishkin about what I think is going to be the biggest disruption soonest in the automotive driving space. And since this show is all about autonomous driving, we couldn’t do a show about the future car without touching on the future of infotainment, and at the forefront is The QT company, which announced recently that it’s integrating NVIDIA DRIVE Design Studio – which allows The QT Company to provide a 3D system development system for manufacturers to create the ultimate infotainment presentation for drivers. Alistair Adams, who’s the global automotive product manager for The QT Company, explains how manufacturers are using their platform to create the ultimate media experience in autonomous cars.

Because small things are not as good or large as large things, the new 2011 Audi A8 is longer, wider and taller than the 2004-'10 model. And not coincidentally, it's also a little bigger than the standard-wheelbase versions of the BMW 7 Series and Lexus LS. Plus it's not much smaller than the long-wheelbase luxo-barges. Plus it'll roll on wheels up to 21 inches across.
The 100th anniversary year of the Audi brand is set to culminate with a very special occasion. November 30 sees the world premiere of the new Audi A8 – in the extraordinary setting of Miami. Here the brand’s new flagship will be presented in a truly innovative way in the Audi Pavilion, a temporary museum structure. It is to be the focal point of the vernissage “The Art of Progress,” which exhibits cultural and technological progress and echoes the values of the new A8: Vorsprung durch Technik and design expertise that stirs the emotions.
