Birth rates are falling all over the world, and some people are freaking out, saying this could tank our society — and even spell the end of humans. In the U.S., so-called pronatalism is having a major moment, with lots of people making the case for more babies — President Trump has called for a “baby boom” and has pledged to be “the fertilization president.” So today, we're going to find out: Is humanity really hurtling toward population disaster? And if this IS a problem — is it even possible to flip the switch from baby bust to baby boom? To find out, we speak with economists Prof. Jisoo Hwang and economics lecturer Dr. Neha Deopa. Find our transcript here: https://bit.ly/ScienceVsFertilityRates In this episode, we cover: (00:00) People are freaking out about the birth rate (02:51) Are fertility rates really declining? (07:42) Why South Korea's fertility rate is so low (14:51) How low fertility rates can mess up society (20:24) Can influencers bump up fertility rates?? (28:17) Which government policies could bump up fertility rates? (35:43) What SHOULD we do if we want people to have more babies? This episode was produced by Blythe Terrell, with help from Rose Rimler, Meryl Horn, Michelle Dang, and Ekedi Fausther-Keeys. We're edited by Blythe Terrell. Our executive producer is Wendy Zukerman. Mix and sound design by Bobby Lord. Fact checking by Diane Kelly. Research help from Erica Akiko Howard. Music written by Peter Leonard, Bobby Lord, So Wylie, Emma Munger and Bumi Hidaka.        It's no surprise that KCI has banned the playing of Kristi Noem's video that DHS is requesting all airports play.  It's going to be most airports that won't play it and I think that is actually the point of the whole thing.  Create something viral for millions of people that won't fly during the government shutdown and call it a marketing success.    Texas Tech has confirmed they found a pocket knife on the KU sideline last Saturday night in Lubbock.  Now they have to find the person who may have thrown it and throw the book at that person.    Ten years ago, 538 invented something called a Trump Score for other politicians.  It was designed to make Trump look stupid.  Now 538 is no more and the Trump Score has become something everyone wants to win.    I learned something interesting about my mom's listening habits yesterday and you may be surprised.    Chiefs left tackle Josh Simmons has left the team and this is becoming quite a mystery.  It can't be great.    Bob Kendrick has scored a major success for the NLBM and we have a really fun audio production to prove it.    And today's Final Final is one of the greatest ever combining running a marathon while eating as much of one kind of food as humanly possible as you do it.  You have to hear this.

The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: As expected, union lawyer and far-Left Democrat Gina Hinojosa announced she would seek the Democrat nomination for Texas governor to take on Greg Abbott. She's locked up most of the insider support already and why not? She is as Leftwing radical as any of them. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.The conflict between Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and the USDA over the New World Screwworm fight is mostly mischaracterized to make it appear that Miller is fighting the Trump Administration. That's nonsense, Miller is clearly wanting to simply do more than USDA is willing to do to stop this situation that could decimate ranching and is pushing up beef prices for us all.Snyder ISD abuse case certainly make it appear that Scurry Co. has a weak on crime district attorney. From selling a startup to Walmart to leading at BYU and now building Sandbox into a movement across multiple universities, Chris shares why closing doors and going deep often leads to the greatest returns. He and Casey explore the flaws of traditional higher education, the trap of chasing prestige, and the power of learning by doing. Chris outlines how Sandbox is equipping students to launch real companies while reshaping themselves in the process. Their discussion dives into resilience, resourcefulness, and why the greatest opportunities often lie off the beaten path. This episode is both a critique of the old system and a vision for a new one, where students learn through building, failure is embraced as part of the process, and desire becomes the ultimate differentiator. What you'll learnHow traditional higher ed's incentives produce shallow learning—and how changing the “soil” unlocks genuine growth. For over 30 years, Ken Isaacs has (literally) run into the fires of war, genocide, and natural disaster around the world. Serving with Samaritan's Purse alongside my dad, Ken has seen and experienced evil so total, contrasted by miracles that have no explanation outside of the hand of God. Today on Fearless Ken shares the heart behind his new book—Running to the Fire—plus what led him to a life spent serving the Lord and going where God has called, even when there are no roads. From witnessing genocide in Rwanda to negotiating with warlords in Afghanistan, Ken talks about some of the experiences that have shaped a life spent saying yes to God. But in addition to those unbelievable stories, Ken also shares the childhood experiences that prepared his heart for a life spent on mission, the struggles missionary families often face, and why he's never afraid to lead with the Gospel, even in the most hostile of environments. Ken's life of obedience should inspire each of us to trust God and His timing, whether we're called to serve across the world or simply across the hallway of our own homes. Find Ken's new book here: https://www.amazon.com/Running-Fire-Helping-Jesus-Name/dp/083078845X.

Or is the coaching staff just not taking advantage of easy opportunities to work on areas where they need to improve?Ross Fulton, the Xs and Os guru at BuckeyeHuddle.com joins host Tom Orr to discuss that and much more.

Host Troy Meadows hands over the mic to his new friend Jon Eisen, the host of the Running with Problems Podcast who guides Troy through a deep and personal look at his year—both on the trail and beyond it.From the emotional depths of the Dark Divide 100miler to the lessons of coaching and fatherhood, Troy opens up about failure, identity, and why doing hard things matters so much. The conversation goes beyond splits and mileage—this is about finding clarity in the pain cave, understanding when to pull back, and learning when to lean in harder.Troy shares how the brutal terrain of the Dark Divide wasn't just a race—it was a reflection of the internal work he's been doing to grow as an athlete, coach, and human. In this episode:The mental and physical crucible that is the Dark DivideHow failure became a launchpad for deeper personal growthThe evolving identity of a coach and runner learning to slow down and listenWhy building community and connection off the trail matters just as muchReflections on parenting, purpose, and progressIf you're looking for something that will challenge you—inside and out—check out Dark Divide 100K.Relevant LinksDark Divide Trail RacesWonderland Running  Running with Problems Podcast Partner Links: Janji - Janji.comA big shoutout to our sponsor, Janji! "There's nothing I'm going to shy away from." What a gift it was to be in Chicago this weekend for all of the Chicago Marathon festivities. And what better way to kick it all off than with a live show with 450 of you, presented by our good friends at New Balance? If the goal was to laugh, relax, and have fun before runners toed the line on Sunday (or Saturday, in the Abbott Chicago 5K!), then we certainly succeeded, thanks to our special guest, former professional runner and Off the Rails cohost, Eric Jenkins. On a personal note: This show was one for the books for me. Thank you for welcoming me in such a beautiful way and for wrapping me up in so much love during such a tough time. This room, this conversation, this event gave me everything I didn't even know I needed. Thank you for being there. Thank you for being you. And thank you to New Balance and Fleet Feet Chicago for making it happen. FOLLOW ERIC @_ericjenkins SPONSOR:  New Balance: Click here to get your hands on the just-released Rebel v5!
