DeJoria also shares the mindset practices that helped him stay steady through rejection, why positivity is a discipline, and the “reorder business” principle every entrepreneur needs to understand if they want sustainable success. YOU WILL LEARN: Why the phrase “success unshared is failure” continues to propel every part of DeJoria's life. The practical, as well as creative, tactics that DeJoria used to co-found and build and accelerate John Paul Mitchell Systems to its status as an iconic global brand. Summary of the Interview: Dr. Willie Jolley on Money Making Conversations Masterclass Dr. Willie Jolley—Hall of Fame speaker, bestselling author, and longtime SiriusXM host—joins Rushion McDonald to discuss his new book Rich Is Good, Wealthy Is Better. The conversation focuses on redefining wealth, transforming money mindsets, developing discipline, and overcoming setbacks to build generational prosperity. Throughout the interview, Dr. Jolley shares insights gathered over 20 years of interviewing billionaires, CEOs, and major wealth creators. He outlines the crucial difference between being rich (high income) and being wealthy (owning assets that work without you). He emphasizes the role of discipline, humility, learning, and generational thinking in achieving sustainable wealth. The interview closes with Jolley’s personal comeback story—from nightclub singer to world‑renowned speaker—and his message that it’s never too late to change your financial future. Purpose of the Interview The interview aims to: 1. Address generational wealth and financial stewardship The book is also written for parents/grandparents worried their heirs may squander what they built. Key Takeaways 1. The crucial difference between rich and wealthy Rich = working income; stops when you stop. Wealthy = assets + systems; money works even when you don’t. Rich is “good”—but wealth is “better” because it is sustainable. 2. Discipline is the #1 lever for wealth Wealth requires: Living below your means Consistent investment Protecting what you have Maintaining health, relationships, reputation, and intellectual capital 4. The “Five Types of Wealth” Financial wealth Health wealth Relationship wealth Reputational/brand wealth Intellectual capital wealthAll contribute to long-term prosperity. 5. The 3 Legs of Wealth Income Save & invest the difference Insurance to protect assets (life, health, disability, long‑term care) 6. At least two streams of income are essential Examples: stocks, real estate, crypto, collectibles, content creation. 7. Pride destroys wealth People overspend to look successful rather than be successful.Pride → debt → stress → financial ruin.Humility → learning → planning → wealth. 8. It’s never too late to become wealthy He shares stories of: A domestic worker who died with $2.7M A secretary who accumulated $8M A former drug dealer who reached nearly $900K starting at age 65All achieved wealth by small investments over long periods. 9. A setback is a setup for a comeback Jolley’s message is deeply motivational: Losing his singing job led him into speaking Speaking led to radio Radio led to books Books led to global influenceHe frames adversity as opportunity. Notable Quotes (from the transcript) On Wealth vs. Rich “Rich is good. Wealthy is better.” “Regular folks work for their money. Wealthy people make their money work for them.” On Mindset “Wealth starts in your mind.” “It’s hard to hit what you can’t see—and even harder to hit what you don’t know.” (on knowing the target) On Discipline “The key to success in growing wealth is discipline.” [ On Pride “My pride was killing my wealth. I had to let the pride go so I could grab hold of the wealth.” On Setbacks “A setback is a setup for your greater comeback.” “Your setback is not the end of the story unless you choose it to be.” On Starting Late “Anybody can become wealthy if you use these principles.” “When is the best time to plant a tree? 80 years ago. 349 – Are you praying for your government? If you take an unbiased look at the government of countries all over the world, you'll often find some degree of corruption. Sometimes it doesn't run very deep but other times senior leaders and the heads of government themselves are the source of corruption. This has been going on since governments began. Is there a solution? Even when politicians claim they try to get rid of all corruption, it's a difficult thing to accomplish. Many governments don't try at all and are causing the problem. As Christians, what can you and I do about this problem? Should we get involved in politics, public demonstrations, or social activism, letter writing campaigns, calling government officials? What you decide to do is totally up to you, and not every Christian is going to feel compelled to fight corruption these ways. What we all can do is pray. But should we pray for a government when it's corrupt? Does prayer even make a difference with such a huge problem? There are lots of different ways to pray about this. How can we pray more effectively to get rid of corruption in government? Previous episodes mentionedEpisode 240: How Would Jesus Heal Political Division? Nearly four years ago, I recorded an episode about why hairdressers should be recommending professional retail. And yet, here we are, still having the same conversation. The fundamentals haven't changed, but the world we're operating in absolutely has. Inflation, online shopping, influencers, and changing client behaviour… all of it has added new layers to old objections. In this episode, I break down why so many stylists still avoid recommending retail and, more importantly, what's really sitting underneath those objections. I walk through the most common excuses I hear, grouped into skill issues, mindset issues, fear issues, and systems issues and explain why teaching product knowledge or scripts alone will never fix the problem. This isn't about being pushy or “selling.” It's about professionalism, service, responsibility, and ultimately the sustainability of your business. If you're a salon owner or a stylist who wants stronger client relationships, better results, and a more profitable salon, this is a conversation you can't keep avoiding.IN THIS EPISODE:[00:00] Intro: Retail version 2.0: what's changed[01:58] Same salon, same clients, very different retail results[02:43] Why scripts and commissions don't solve retail[03:22] The three real reasons hairdressers should recommend retail[06:49] The 4 categories behind all retail objections[07:39] Skill issues: “I don't know how” and product knowledge[09:40] Mindset issues: “It's not my job”[12:09] Fear issues: The fear of being pushy or transactional[20:06] Systems issues and retail culture in salons[26:30] Final thoughts Want MORE to help you GROW?
Growth does not break down because chiropractors lack passion. It breaks down because conversion systems and metrics are either unclear, slow, or unmanaged. Dr. Pete and Dr. Stephen break down the exact conversion and sales metrics that separate busy offices from scalable, profitable businesses, and why mastering them is no longer optional in 2026. They unpack how speed, clarity, and conviction drive patient commitment, how operational KPIs translate into real revenue, and why recurring metrics reveal the true health of your business. In this conversation with Level 3 Wim Hof Method instructor Brandon Powell, we explore the three-pillar system of breath work, cold exposure, and mindset training that elite athletes and military operators use to control their stress response and perform when it matters most. You'll discover how cold exposure triggers a 500% dopamine boost, why five breaths can shift you from panic to calm, and the science-backed protocols you can start today with nothing more than a cold shower and your breath. JP Elliott: Future of HR JP Elliott has decades of experience as a Talent and HR executive at companies like DICK’S Sporting Goods, McAfee, and Lenovo. He's seen the challenges HR professionals face in growing their careers and increasing their impact. He is the host of the Future of HR podcast and on a mission to help HR professionals increase their business impact and accelerate their careers. Leadership looks a little different if you head up a support role: human resources, IT, marketing, or finance. Often, we hear the term “business partner” used to describe what these leaders should be aiming for. In this conversation, JP and I explore how to shift from simply a “business partner” to a value creator. Key Points You’re not just an HR leader. You’re a business leader with HR expertise. Think like a CEO even if you're in HR. Do this to be moving beyond an execution-only mindset. Design talent strategies based on the future, not on the past. Build systems that reward outcomes, not bureaucracy. Build talent strategies that differentiate your business. Forecast leadership needs 3-5 years out and build a pipeline for critical roles. Four questions that CEOs are asking: Are we focused on the right strategic imperatives? Are we operating effectively and efficiently? Are we optimizing our business model to create competitive advantage? Do we have a plan for sustainable and profitable growth? Struggling with motivation lately? You're not broken and you're definitely not lazy. In this episode, I share a real-time reflection on why motivation feels shaky during seasons of massive identity transition, especially when life, work, and motherhood are all evolving at once. When our identity is clear, action feels easy but when we're questioning who we are becoming, everything can feel heavy and confusing. I break down why motivation is an unreliable driver and why waiting to “feel ready” keeps you stuck. We dive into the three things that actually create follow-through: commitment, identity, and systems. I'll challenge how you think about commitment (with a comparison that might sting a little), and explain why saying you're committed isn't the same as acting like it. We'll talk about how anchoring your actions to who you want to be, not just what you want to achieve, changes everything. I'll also walk through practical ways to reduce friction by building systems that support you on low-energy days. If you're in a season of transition, questioning your next chapter, or frustrated with your lack of consistency, this episode will help you reframe motivation and rebuild alignment. Stop waiting to feel motivated and start building something that works even when motivation is gone. This week I sit down with Autumn Calabrese to talk about fitness, mindset, and stress management—especially as they relate to women in midlife. We explore how hormonal changes can affect energy, recovery, motivation, and overall health, and why many women find that the fitness strategies that once worked no longer feel effective or sustainable. We also discuss how women's fitness culture has evolved over time, shifting away from extremes and toward a more balanced, realistic approach that prioritizes consistency over perfection. This episode highlights why managing stress is just as important as working out, and how nutrition, quality sleep, and community support play foundational roles in long-term wellness. At its core, this conversation is an invitation to reframe fitness as a tool for resilience, strength, and vitality—not punishment—and to encourage women to embrace change, stay consistent, and prioritize their health through every season of midlife. Fitness helps support warmth, energy, and resilience, especially during winter Mindset is a major driver of sustainable fitness and health habits Stress management is essential for overall health in midlife Hormonal changes can significantly impact women's physical and mental well-being Fitness culture is evolving toward balance rather than extremes Consistency in workouts leads to better long-term health outcomes Nutrition is a cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle Quality sleep is critical for recovery and overall well-being Embracing change can transform the midlife experience Community and accountability enhance motivation and long-term commitment Autumn's IG BODI platform To my fellow clinicians: listen to the You Are Not Broken podcast on Pinnacle's network to earn FREE CME credit Listen to my Tedx Talk: Why we need adult sex ed Take my Adult Sex Ed Master Class: My Website Interested in my sexual health and hormone clinic? Why do so many chiropractors assume retirement will “just work out” — and why are so many discovering too late that it won't? In this episode, Dr. Lauryn sits down with Dr. Abby Sirovica to have an honest, unfiltered conversation about real estate, wealth-building, and what it actually takes to create financial freedom beyond the clinic. This isn't about hustle for hustle's sake — it's about realizing what's possible when you stop playing small.Together, they break down why relying solely on a chiropractic practice is risky, how real estate can become a powerful exit strategy, and the mindset shifts required to build long-term wealth. From short-term rentals and tax strategy to leadership, leverage, and designing a life with real autonomy, this episode challenges the assumptions many providers make about money, retirement, and success — and offers a clearer path forward.Key TakeawaysWealth for chiropractors requires leverage beyond the clinic. Building real estate assets creates cash flow, tax advantages, and freedom that patient care alone rarely provides.Real estate is accessible — even without business ownership. Associates and W2 earners can use short-term rentals and smart strategies to offset income and build wealth.Mindset and action matter more than perfect timing. Wealth grows when chiropractors stop waiting for certainty and start making informed, strategic moves.About the GuestDr. Abby Sirovica is a chiropractor, entrepreneur, and real estate investor known for her bold, strategic approach to wealth-building. She is the founder of Grassroots Family Chiropractic (now Grassroots Collective), co-owner of a wellness café, and a leader in short-term rental investing. Multiple deaths and near-death experiences. 73 surgeries. Paralysis. And somehow, he's still standing on faith, hope, and prayer. In this episode, we break down how discipline, responsibility, and community shaped the mindset that helped him survive what most people couldn't imagine. The Marine Corps gave structure, pain built resilience, and setbacks forged a determination that refuses to fold.https://neverquittrying.com/About Jay SetchellDon't ask why. Ask why not. My mindset says you always have options, and choices. What you are today is a matter of those options and choices you have made throughout your life, and continue to make. Your "purpose" will change your life. I am mid '70's, mostly paralyzed, very involved in multiple ventures, and don't plan on stopping. You have to have faith and believe! The info filled in elsewhere on this page, should cover a great deal of what someone would want to know about me. Though not all, I assure you. Born and raised on a working farm, nothing ever comes free that is worthwhile, it's always something you've worked for. Marine/entrepreneur/corporate/ never quit. Life/death/marriages/children/faith that you have the power to overcome/belief in yourself/help others. Your success, depending on what "success" means to you is a matter of courage, resilience, grit, determination, perseverance, choices, failures and what you did to overcome them, your thought pattern and so much more. On this episode of Possible, Reid Hoffman and Aria Finger sit down with Amjad Masad, founder and CEO of Replit, to explore how AI is fundamentally changing who gets to build software and what that means for work, creativity, and human agency. Masad traces his journey from growing up in Jordan teaching himself to code and connects it to his love of video games which helped inspire him to build a platform that turns natural language into working software. The conversation spans everything from why gaming mindsets make better builders, to how CEOs are rediscovering hands-on creation, to why “vibe coding” is the next form of literacy and why computational thinking is more important than syntax mastery. The conversation also digs into the future of AI agents, long-running autonomous workflows, and what it means to design environments for machines rather than humans. They also confront harder questions about jobs, fear, regulation, and society's responsibility during a cognitive industrial revolution. The episode ultimately reframes AI not as a replacement for human creativity, but as a force that can return people to a more entrepreneurial, expressive, and meaningful way of life.
