In this episode, Associate Features Editor Ana Escalante breaks down her recent piece about her search for the perfect wedding dress as a plus-size bride. She and Editorial Director Lauren Eggertsen unpack the unfair dilemma that plus-size brides often find themselves in: either shopping for a mass market dress that doesn't suit their style, or paying tens of thousands for a custom gown because the demi couture boutiques don't offer their size. Have you ever noticed how the energy you bring to a consult completely changes the conversation and the results? In this episode, I revisit one of the most foundational mindset shifts that transformed my coaching and sales: seeing every client as whole, capable, and perfect right now, regardless of their circumstances. When you speak to clients from their highest self, objections shrink, connection deepens, and you create consults unlike any conversation they've ever had before.   You'll hear how to practice this mindset before every consult, why it's more impactful than any script or process, and how connecting with clients from this place of belief transforms your sales, your coaching, and the experience you offer. I also share examples from my own journey, from my first coaching calls with Brooke Castillo to working with clients today, illustrating how this simple shift can create extraordinary results and deeper fulfillment for both you and your clients.   If you want to start making serious money as a coach, you need to check out 2k for 2k. She dives into her philosophy of disciplined growth, reveals why she turned down Whole Foods twice, and explains why building a lasting business starts with knowing your customer better than anyone else. Show notes: 0:25: Interview: Aishwarya Iyer, Founder & CEO, Brightland – Aishwarya draws parallels between her personal journey as a new mother and entrepreneur, and emphasizes the importance of belief and mindfulness in the growth of and success of Brightland. She talks about how Brightland was born out of a conviction that consumers deserved better olive oil, the company's focus on sourcing California-produced, high-quality oils and how she educated herself about the category and entrepreneurship. Aishwarya is candid about her early doubts, logistical missteps, and the pressure of launching Brightland, how she landed a small but impactful New York Times mention and her decision to turn down Whole Foods (twice).  The conversation also delves into Brightland's brand strategy, where the beautiful, elevated packaging acts as a “Trojan Horse” to invite education and trial. She also talks about why Brightland launched a more accessible everyday line, inspired by brands like Ralph Lauren that successfully straddle luxury and mainstream markets. Aishwarya discusses how PR, storytelling, and thoughtful retail strategy have shaped Brightland's growth, and stresses the importance of product integrity over just aesthetics. She closes with advice on avoiding comparison and noise, encouraging entrepreneurs to periodically unplug from social media to reconnect with their vision and the reasons that they launched their companies.  Brands in this episode: Brightland, Aura Bora, Tip Top Cocktails

They examine how replacing gut instinct with real-time analytics can reduce risk, improve cash flow, and create a sustainable framework for growth. 3 Key Takeaways: The Value of a Defined Process – A clear, repeatable process for evaluating and acquiring businesses creates consistency and reduces reliance on intuition. AI as a Decision-Making Tool – Artificial intelligence can assess financial health, identify risks, and surface opportunities faster and more accurately than manual analysis. Post-Acquisition Performance – Technology can help monitor cash flow, measure operational health, and keep managers accountable long after the deal closes. The right tools can help owners identify the best opportunities, manage them effectively, and expand without sacrificing control. In this eye-opening conversation with Jim Cockrum—pioneer in online entrepreneurship and founder of the Proven Amazon Course—we discover why most people are looking at Amazon selling all wrong.Forget what you've heard about market saturation. With less than 20% of all retail happening online, we're still in the pioneer stage of e-commerce. The blue ocean is expanding daily, and Jim reveals his "low-low-high" approach that's helped thousands build sustainable businesses with minimal risk and investment. The real opportunity? Finding "underserved shelf space" in Amazon's massive warehouse network. Jim explains why focusing on everyday products that shoppers need quickly—rather than chasing the lowest price—creates a powerful advantage even for beginners. Through fascinating examples (like how one seller outperformed 200 competitors while charging the highest price), you'll understand why speed and convenience often trump price for today's consumers.Jim dismantles common myths about Amazon selling, clarifying how the platform's increasingly consistent policies make it easier than ever to stay in good standing. He provides practical guidance on sourcing products properly, understanding the economics of profitable reselling, and avoiding the costly mistakes that trip up new sellers.Perhaps most surprisingly, Jim shares his unconventional belief that relationships—not tactics or strategies—are the true predictor of entrepreneurial success. By the end of our conversation, you'll see why Jim's approach has stood the test of time while countless "get rich quick" schemes have faded away.Whether you're just starting your online business journey or looking to diversify your existing e-commerce operation, this conversation offers a refreshingly straightforward path to building freedom and financial stability in the digital age.How to connect with Jim?Website: https://jimcockrumcoaching.com/Podcast: https://silentjim.com/podcast-home/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jimcockrum/Facebook Group: SilentJim Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jimcockrumInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/jimcockrum/?hl=enSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2K55JmPu9WBAqmOtIaQAkfReady to scale your Amazon business? Katlin Smith is the founder and CEO of Simple Mills, a food company that makes a wide array of delicious gluten-free, grain-free, paleo-friendly, and non-GMO foods. Before starting her own company from scratch, Smith was a strategy and operations consultant. After years of relying on processed foods because of her demanding job, she switched to a Paleo diet in hopes of reaping the health benefits. Disappointed with the lack of store-bought options for her new lifestyle, Smith started making recipes of her own using healthier ingredients like almond flour and coconut sugar. With no background in food production or distribution, Smith reached out to her local Whole Foods when she was ready to sell her now-famous Almond Flour Muffin Mix. When the chain agreed to sell it on its shelves, Smith was eager to grow her business. She went back to school to build on the skills she acquired as a consultant and develop new ones so she could expand her line of products and distribute them widely. Today, Simple Mills is sold in over 30,000 stores nationwide, and Flowers Foods recently acquired the business for $795 million, marking one of the biggest female-founder exits in recent CPG history.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Alex shares how his childhood in an entrepreneurial family shaped his belief in hard work, resilience, and creating a life outside of the traditional “employee box.”From his early days hustling as a social media marketer before Facebook ads even existed, to cold-calling his way into becoming a certified Miami Dolphins media member, Alex reveals how persistence and boldness defined his start. But he also opens up about the wake-up call that changed everything: open-heart surgery at just 29, when his wife was five months pregnant. My journey into social impact started from a deep passion for creating equitable, sustainable (and scalable) solutions for communities. With over 20 years of experience as a macro-level social worker, advocate, project manager, and strategist, I've seen firsthand the struggles leaders face trying to balance their mission with the realities of funding, leadership, and organizational growth. After years of serving as a funder and leader in the federal and local government, I found myself burnt out and at a crossroads. I realized that after the pandemic there are a lot of leaders that have found themselves at a point in their career where impact is the top priority and want to make change in their own way. I work with social entrepreneurs, nonprofit professionals, and business leaders to build sustainable, purpose-driven organizations through: ✅ The Social Impact Level Up Collective: A dynamic community for connection, collaboration, and leadership growth. ✅ Idea Surgery Sessions: Strategy-focused workshops that help leaders clarify priorities, solve challenges, and craft innovative solutions. ✅ Elevate Her Worth Events: Transformative experiences designed to empower women entrepreneurs to lead authentically and build resilient businesses. ✅ Executive Coaching: Personalized coaching for nonprofit and business leaders to amplify their leadership capabilities, foster team collaboration, and drive organizational success. ✅ Speaking & Facilitation: Engaging talks and workshops on purpose-driven entrepreneurship, energy alignment, and transformational leadership. Why “Letting Go” Could Be Your Best Growth Strategy | Cary Prejean | 664

Are you the bottleneck in your own business? Many entrepreneurs wear every hat—CEO, sales, R&D, even accounts receivable—yet still feel stuck. Cary Prejean, founder of Strategic Business Advisors and author of three books, has spent 40 years helping business owners shift from operator to visionary leader. In this episode, we explore why entrepreneurs don't need to become great managers—and why trying to do so can hold them back. Instead, Cary shows how to build processes that keep the business running without you, freeing you to focus on vision, growth, and impact. We break down the opposite skill sets of entrepreneurs and managers—why one thrives on vision, speed, and risk, while the other thrives on stability, patience, and process. Cary explains how to use the language of leadership to engage your team, enroll them in your mission, and empower them to take ownership. It's about letting go without losing control, and creating repeatable, scalable systems that make you irrelevant to daily operations—in the best possible way. Cary shares practical ways to get the attention of distracted, fast-moving entrepreneurs, starting with the right questions. He reveals how to uncover hidden bottlenecks, fix chronic operational headaches, and stop training your team to rely on you for every decision. We also discuss the parallels between leading people and prompting AI—clear direction, desired outcomes, and the freedom to innovate. From his roots in accounting to his evolution as a leadership advisor, Cary's journey offers a blueprint for sustainable growth. We talk about his upcoming books—one on common business-killing mistakes, and another on the lost art of relating—and how improving communication can transform not only your business but your relationships. If your business can't run without you for more than a day, this conversation could be your turning point. Three Key Takeaways: • Entrepreneurs shouldn't try to become great managers — The skill sets are fundamentally different. Instead of forcing yourself into a management mold, focus on evolving into a visionary leader who sets direction, inspires others, and empowers the team to execute. • Build processes that run the business without you — Repeatable, scalable systems free you from daily firefighting. When your team owns the process and delivers consistent results, you can step away from the weeds and focus on growth and innovation. • Empower and engage your team through clear vision and communication — Enroll employees in your mission, give them ownership of solutions, and resist micromanaging. Leadership is about prompting for outcomes, not dictating every step—just like using AI effectively. If Cary's episode got you thinking about how to stop being the bottleneck in your own business, Jonathan Raveh's conversation is your perfect next step. Both episodes tackle the same core challenge—how to move from doing it all yourself to building systems and empowering others. Cary shows you how to evolve from operator to visionary leader, while Jonathan dives deep into scaling thought leadership so your ideas can live and grow beyond you. Listen to Jonathan's episode to see how you can turn your vision into a shared organizational capability, equip your team to contribute their voices, and create thought leadership that scales—without burning you out. Pair these two episodes and you'll have a roadmap for scaling both your business and your ideas.

About Called to CreateGod calls us all to build a better future. With Him. For others. We're not made to sit on the sidelines. We're driven to move forward. Under His power and for His glory. Let's go.Our mission has been and continues to be God. Above all, we want to partner with Him in His redemptive work leading more people to know Him and discover the joy and hope in Him alone. For a movement to ignite or society to shift, missiologists talk about being focused on high-leveraged areas. In many Christian movements, this has meant reaching the “leaders of leaders.” That focus is beginning to shift. Today, small business owners are 9x more trusted than politicians and 2x more trusted than the Church.Fewer people are coming inside the walls of the Church for answers. Instead of being a problem, we see this as a time for recalibration. We envision a vibrant community of high-capacity business leaders solving the world's greatest problems and faithfully caring for those around them—under God's power and for His glory. While opportunity abounds, today's entrepreneurs and investors are susceptible to the toxic aspects of secular culture—worshiping mammon, idolizing individualism, and perpetuating existential relativism. The need to guide, prepare, and support these influential shapers of culture and the next generation is vital.Learn more about Called to Create here.Connect with Dana Roeferwebsite | Facebook | InstagramDana Roefer serves as the Vice President of Faith Driven Entrepreneur for Teens.Entrepreneurship has been at the heart of Dana's career—both in launching her own ventures and supporting others in building theirs.
