Hey Heal Squad! It's another What Worked This Week with Maria,  and this one is all about simple shifts that can create real healing. First up a powerful breathing technique Maria was reminded of when she chatted with someone who does bioresonance therapy. Let's just say if you have had moments of anxiety, fear, or just need a quick reset …this  exercise totally helps! It can help regulate the nervous system and move out of fight-or-flight. Such a great tool! Next a spontaneous moment with her dad that turned into something magical. Using AI tools, they created an original song in Greek which is  proof that creativity and technology can come together in the most unexpected and beautiful ways. We promise this song will make you cry even if you don't understand Greek. Then, have you ever had a “no plans” day?? Maria's cancelled commitment led to a full self care day and again it was another great reminder that rest isn't a luxury, it's necessary. Finally, forgiveness. Maria reflects on how holding onto anger can live in the body ( her hips are where she stores it!). But releasing it can open the door to true healing. We hope you love these little tools that can make the week that much better! Enjoy! Alanis Morissette (singer, songwriter, musician) breaks down different versions of restoration, the dangers of intolerance and a lack of boundary-setting, and the beauty of anger as a catalyst for positive change. She explains why meditation may not be for everyone, the benefits of guided meditations, and her approach to creating her new meditation album. Alanis opens up about the origins of her disordered eating, her prophetic visions about her career, and the dangers of turning anger inward. So we talk about that, along with other ideas from Megan Anna's book, including how internalized ableism can hinder self-care, considerations for navigating self-care for individuals with PDA, and insights into co-regulation, sensory considerations, and how advocacy and accommodations in the workplace can also be forms of self-care.   ABOUT DR. “Send Coach John a message”Simple one today for sure. A reminder for all of us to just take the time, or find the time, but to MAKE the time to do something good for ourselves! This all came about from our dog yesterday. I was busy focusing on something here on my computer. He hopped out of his chair and went looking outside at our patio, which had plenty of sunshine on it. He came back to me and started staring at me. I asked him what he wanted. He kept staring at me and then little whimperings started being directed my way.  So I knew it was something important. He took me over to the doorwall and I let him out. He stopped in the sunshine on the patio and looked back at me. You see, he loves sitting in the sun in one of our chairs on the patio. But, it's still February and we have the outdoor furniture put away. But I knew exactly what he wanted. So I got one of our camping chairs out of the garage and set it up for him. He hopped up into it and I went back inside - but he kept staring at me. So, I knew he wanted me to come sit with him. I went to get one of my hoodies on, came outside and we sat out there for maybe 20 minutes or so.  WOW.. did that sunshine feel good on my face and he had a wonderful time sitting on my lap! He knew that I would like sitting out there with him too and he was totally right!! MAKE the time for yourself to get some fresh air, some sunshine and time with one of your best buddies. Or at least on your own just thinking, smiling and relaxing without your phone. Please also know that we have a course called the "14 Days To Mental Health Wellness" Type this is your search bar. pensight.com/x/winoverdepressionHard days don't decide your worth—your next small step does. We unpack what it truly means to “win” with depression and why progress, not perfection, is the most powerful metric you can use. From the first brave act of getting out of bed to setting clean boundaries and letting sunlight shift your chemistry, we map out practical, compassionate ways to keep moving when motivation is thin.We share a new scorecard for victory: hygiene as a win, hydration as a win, opening the curtains as a win, and showing up quietly with friends as a win. You'll hear how to spot a negative thought without granting it authority, name your feelings so they stop running the show, and protect your energy by saying no without apology. We also talk about the deeper layers—faith that can be as small as a mustard seed, releasing shame that never belonged to you, and trusting that a setback is not the whole story.Because biology matters, we address medication without stigma and pair it with therapy, gentle movement, and brain-friendly nutrition. Learn why reducing sugar helps mood stability and how foods like salmon, leafy greens, avocados, and walnuts support mental health. We offer grounded safety steps for suicidal urges—delay action, sleep, call your person, take meds, and remember no storm lasts forever—along with encouragement to build an accountability net before you need it.You'll leave with a toolkit of tiny, repeatable actions that add up: one boundary honored, one glass of water, one honest text, one light-filled morning. If this resonated, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs a win today, and leave a review to help others find hope when they need it most.Support the showWin Over Depression Course: '14 Days to Mental Health Wellness" GET THE COURSE NOW: COPY AND PASTE IN YOUR BROWSER pensight.com/x/winoverdepressionhttps://www.winoverdepression.orghttps://www.patreon.com/tameratrotterhttps://www.stitcher.com/podcast/tameras-podcast

Welcome to Episode #273This weeks topic: Midlife can feel like standing at a crossroads where the road behind is longer than the one ahead. It's a season marked by reflection, reassessment, and sometimes, an unexpected crisis of identity. The pitfall isn't the aging itself—it's the quiet realization that dreams deferred might stay that way forever. Midlife isn't a crisis—it's a clarification. The pitfall is mistaking discomfort for defeat. Many find themselves caught between caring for aging parents and supporting their own children, all while grappling with career plateaus and personal reinvention. The trap is believing it's too late to change course, too late to pursue passion, too late to start over. You're not running out of time; you're running into the truth of who you really are.Reclaim your wisdom, power, and liberation that comes with age. change your life - How  you feel about yourself - "affects"your ability to manifest" This episode will help shed some light - on how this new phase of life will change "everything" - Let's learn together.. Live Show ⤵️ on the podcast channelhttps://youtube.com/live/-o-_hlcvyRUPost ➡️ https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxO3aS9ORb7YffOn1nXFfYGu9-w9g419WOhttp://www.ElizabethMagicalGarden.comCash app me: $Eliz241 Check out the Live show on my youtube channel @Elizabeth magical Garden Podcast E.p. #268f

I once heard a woman say that when her son was diagnosed with cancer, she knew she had to be impeccable with her self-care so she could show up as her best self. She needed to ensure her diet, sleep, and exercise fueled her with the bandwidth she needed. The state of the world is...a lot. It's easy to feel overwhelmed and anxious, and that's why I've decided to make self-care the focus of the next few months. To help you come up with some practices that will give you the bandwidth you need. Self-care is one of the pillars of my life. I've learned that if I don't make it a habit, I tend to run myself into the ground. In the next few months, I'm going to go into detail about my self-care practices from skincare to diet/supplements to movement to time with friends, and hopefully you can pick up some nuggets and craft some self-care rituals of your own. Have you ever done all the “right” self-care things, taken the bath, bought a planner, scheduled the massage, and still felt completely exhausted? In this episode, we're unpacking why that happens. Most women aren't bad at self-care. We're just investing in practices that don't actually restore us. In a culture that praises hustle, sacrifice, and pushing through (hello, military life), it's easy to lose touch with our own needs. #55 Regulation Is the Self-Care: Neurodivergent Parenting Without Burnout with Stacey Acquavella

    Parenting Well Podcast

I'm Dr. Shelly Mahon, your host, and in this episode of the Parenting Well Podcast, I sit down with Stacey J. Acquavella, founder of Neurodivergent Uprising and speaker at our Stress & Anxiety Conference, to explore her powerful message: Regulation Is the Self-Care. Register Here Many parents, especially those raising neurodivergent children, are told to add more strategies, more routines, more coping tools. But when you're already functioning at a deficit, “doing more” only deepens the exhaustion. Stacey reframes overwhelm as a structural issue, not a personal one. You can't self-care your way out of structural overload. Instead, regulation must be embedded into how the day is designed. Things like how transitions happen, how expectations are set, how decisions are reduced, and how environments are shaped help immensely. We talk about survival mode and chronic bracing. The shame undiagnosed parents often carry. The stress of navigating school systems built for neurotypical learners. The difference between behavior management and regulation-based parenting. And why you don't need a diagnosis to begin reducing overload. If you've ever felt like you're constantly on edge or you're bracing for emails, appointments, or judgment, this conversation will help you understand why. And more importantly, it will show you where relief actually begins. In this podcast, we talk about: Self-regulation as the true mechanism of self-care Why adding habits doesn't work when you're already overloaded Removing demands and creating infrastructure instead of adding strategies Why burnout is often a structural problem, not a personal one “You can't self-care your way out of structural overload” Embedding regulation into how the day is designed Getting out of prolonged survival mode and chronic bracing How undiagnosed neurodivergent parents internalize shame Why overwhelm is a math problem; not a character flaw Mindset shifts versus accumulating more parenting strategies Neurodivergent people operating in misaligned systems Behavior management vs. regulation-based parenting Navigating schools and the stress of constant advocacy Standardized testing built for neurotypical brains Changing the environment when it feels locked in place Recognizing nervous system overwhelm without immediately labeling Understanding neurodivergence beyond stereotypes “We don't need a diagnosis to reduce overload.” Key Takeaways: Self-care isn't something you add — it's something you design. Regulation must be built into your daily structure, not layered on top of burnout. Overwhelm is often structural, not personal. When demand exceeds capacity, no amount of mindset work fixes the math. Behavior is often nervous system distress. Regulation-based parenting shifts the question from “How do I manage this?” to “What is overwhelming this nervous system?” You don't need a diagnosis to reduce overload. Support can begin with noticing when a child's (or parent's) nervous system is stretched beyond capacity. Slow signals safety. Fewer words. Lower body posture. Slower speech. These cues communicate “not under attack” to the brain. Systems matter. Instead of teaching children to cope with misaligned environments, we can redesign structures wherever possible. Advocacy without regulation increases stress. Parents navigating school systems need structural support too. Welcome back to another episode of School Counseling Simplified. Today I am interviewing Colleen, a school counselor and IMPACT member, who shares her journey from nursing school to school counseling and her passion for teaching students the coping skills she did not learn growing up. Colleen Mosley is a School Counselor in Long Island, New York. This is her fourth year at her current school. Previously, she worked as a School Counselor for four years in Northern Virginia. Before becoming a counselor, she served on the Leadership Team at a private school in Northern Virginia. Colleen is deeply passionate about equipping students with lifelong coping skills and believes that work is at the heart of why she became a School Counselor. What does Colleen love about school counseling Colleen shares that she loves being the person she did not have growing up. She finds it incredibly fulfilling to teach children skills they can use throughout their lifetime. What does Colleen love about individual sessions Because she sees all students weekly for classroom lessons, she is able to build strong rapport and positive relationships early on. When students come to her counseling room for individual support, there is already an established foundation of trust. How does she manage the logistics of individual sessions Colleen typically meets with students once a week for six weeks for approximately 20 minutes. She administers a pre-assessment during the first session and a post-assessment during the final session to measure growth and progress. A day in the life Colleen works with students in grades K through 8 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. She is available on Mondays primarily for crisis response. She teaches Social Emotional Learning lessons in 40 minute blocks for each classroom and schedules individual sessions as needed. When she is not teaching or counseling, she supervises lunch and recess or plans future lessons and school events. Advice for new school counselors Find a mentor you trust. Prioritize self-care. Join a cohort or a community such as IMPACT so you have support and resources readily available to make your job feel more manageable. As Colleen says, overdose on self-care so you can do your job most effectively! Do not forget, today and tomorrow I am hosting a free live training on how to enhance your individual counseling sessions and begin collecting meaningful data so you can feel confident and valued in your role. You will walk away with practical engagement strategies and simple data tracking tools you can start using right away.   Resources Mentioned: Individual Counseling LIVE Training Connect with Rachel: TpT Store Blog Instagram Facebook Page Facebook Group Pinterest Youtube   More About School Counseling Simplified: School Counseling Simplified is a podcast offering easy to implement strategies for busy school counselors. (3:30) The term has gained traction since GLP-1s became more popular. "Counting culture" has also contributed—people seek ways to accommodate unhealthy foods. (5:00) They discuss popular snack foods, cravings, and weight gain. The best thing you can do is not bring those types of food into the house. They share stories about ice cream and eating it on rare occasions. (16:00) If you are going to do "Life Into Living," save it for something truly good, not some dumb junk food. For example, have a gelato when you are in Italy. (19:00) Important note: If you want to stop food noise, do not eat the food that causes it. (22:00) Processed foods are meant to trigger cravings and addiction. When you switch to a low-carb diet, the food cravings often lessen over time and can even completely go away. (23:00) Going low-carb naturally mimics the effects of GLP-1 without side effects. Food has become political rather than just food. (31:00) Various diets have also become a type of food noise. People labeling themselves have gained an almost religious fervor. Subsidized crops are used as filler in processed foods; as a result, real, whole foods are more expensive. (35:00) They discuss Instacart and its impact on in-store grocery prices. (37:50) They discuss money, time, resources, and goals to eat healthy, quick meals. (41:00) Start doing things yourself and stop mailing it out to everyone else. (50:00) Vinnie shares a story from mentor Joe Dean about what it means to "take the garbage out." With the recent passing of Rev. JesseJackson, many have been concerned at the lack of celebration and respect being shown by the current administration, including lack of official direction to fly flags at half-mast, and Mike Johnson's flat refusal to consider Jackson's potential for interment in the Capital Rotunda.  Lack of respect or outright erasure of civil rights can contribute to advocacy burnout, or stress from the current political climate. Along with many other forms of action, openly celebrating causes or individuals is a form of self-care. Today I want to share a brief story about Jackson's skill as a diplomat and negotiator, and how he used these talents to successfully aid in the release of hostages on the international stage.  Please go check out www.lavenderproject.org, our highlighted nonprofit for this month, to support this wonderful organization helping Black Trans Americans. Share, support, and celebrate their important work.

(2:30) He is the president of Alphacat Consulting and focuses on personal growth and authentic leadership, with extensive expertise in navigating both professional and personal transformation. The Hard-Hard is your "Why": what is the physical, emotional, spiritual goal, and working towards it. What does Bobby have as examples for what "Easy-Hard" means? (9:30) Bobby describes his health journey not just for weight loss but for overall wellness. (17:00) People are often afraid of hard things, and at the other end of the spectrum, others think that if you're not suffering, you're not working hard enough. (20:00) There is meaning in the middle: struggle doesn't need to mean suffering. Finding your why is important, but not for the reason of "keeping up with the Joneses." They discuss the meaning of "Riding the Tiger." (26:00) Vinnie prefers to be active because it helps open his mind to new ideas. (37:00) The longer you wait to start something, the harder it is to start at all, and the delay gets longer. (41:00) They discuss a type of "divine intervention." You have to find your own rhythm. (46:00) Don't buy into anyone else's dogma. (47:30) They discuss self-talk, beliefs, and visualization. (53:00) Don't let the world get in your way. (58:30) Always think about what's possible and don't let others discourage you! (1:03:00) Surround yourself with positive influences, not those who try to drag you down.
