The EU faces many challenges with decarbonising the economy, lowering energy prices and enhancing its industrial competitiveness. Big investments in renewable energy sources and energy storage facilities are required. Leveraging flow batteries will be pivotal in helping to power energy systems in a flexible, stable and reliable way. But what exactly are flow batteries? And how can these batteries make a significant contribution to the generation of renewable energies? This is what we want to discuss today with John Alper, Principal Technologist at VoltStorage (FBE Member) and Anthony Price, Secretary General at Flow Batteries Europe (FBE). About Dr. John Alper Dr. John Alper is the Principal Technologist at VoltStorage. He is an expert in electrochemical engineering with 15 years of experience in energy storage R&D across multiple chemistries, including vanadium, iron-titanium, and all iron flow batteries. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. About Anthony Price Anthony Price is the Founder and Director of Swanbarton Limited and Secretary General of Flow Batteries Europe. He has worked in the flow battery sector for over thirty years, starting with commercialising Innogy's flow battery development. Swanbarton, a consultancy company, supports clients across a range of storage technologies: batteries, including flow, sodium sulphur, and other storage systems, focusing on both large-scale systems and behind-the-meter and microgrids. A former director of the Energy Storage Association, he founded the UK's trade association, the Electricity Storage Network, to raise the profile of energy storage. He also founded the International Flow Battery Forum. He is a chartered engineer, has an MA from the University of Cambridge and was appointed OBE in 2021 in recognition of his services to the energy storage industry.

Dziś zapraszam Was do rozmowy z Arturem Leśniakiem - szefem marketingu portalu z ogłoszeniami pracy RocketJobs.pl, wcześniej senior strategy plannerem w agencji 180heartbeats + Jung von Matt. Episode 20 of The Carbon Curve is with Marian Krüger, co-lead of the Remove Accelerator and Decarbonization Lead for Sus.Lab at ETH ZürichLet's hop over the Atlantic and talk about the carbon removal (or CDR) innovation and policy landscape in Europe. The EU is the world's third largest economy, and it's well positioned to have a major impact on the future of carbon removal policy and innovation. I wanted to understand Europe's potential in terms of what's in the innovation pipeline, as well as what systemic gaps need to be addressed to make Europe a carbon removal powerhouse.Today, Na'im speaks to Marian Krüger, co-lead of the Remove Accelerator and Decarbonization Lead for Sus.Lab at ETH Zürich. Remove is a new accelerator program designed to support carbon removal innovators while strengthening the CDR ecosystem.Sus.Lab or The Sustainability in Business Lab is a “Think and Do Tank” launched by the Chair for Sustainability and Technology at ETH Zürich. The lab was founded in 2016 with a mission to bring sustainability research into the real world through hands-on industry projects. The Remove Accelerator (formerly known as Carbon Removal ClimAccelerator before the rebrand) is Europe's first and only accelerator program purely focused on CDR startups. Originated as a project at ETH Zurich's Sustainability in Business Lab, the non-profit, non-equity program has supported more than 60 European early-stage CDR startups since its start in 2021 with coaching, expert matchmaking, ecosystem access and non-dilutive capital. In this episode, Na'im and Marian discuss:* The carbon removal work at ETH Zürich's Sustainability in Business Lab* The genesis and evolution of the Remove Accelerator (previously the Carbon Removal ClimAccelerator)* Country-level carbon removal policies in the EU and UK* EU-level policy progress and gapsRelevant Links:* Sus.Lab at ETH Zürich* Carbon removal work* DemoUpCARMA & DemoUpStorage* Remove Accelerator* EU Carbon Removal Certification Framework* Luxembourg Negative Emissions Tariff* The L NET Straw Proposal - A Negative Emissions Tariff for Luxembourg and Beyond* Sweden's carbon removal strategy * Is Sweden becoming the world leader on BECCS?* Switzerland's long term climate strategy * UK greenhouse gas removal (GGR) business models About Marian Krüger:Marian Krüger has spent his whole career in impact entrepreneurship. First as a venture developer at the German green utility, Innogy, before founding his own startup, Ucair, to increase photovoltaic yield using drones and AI data analytics. After its acquisition, he went on to join ETH Zurich's Sustainability in Business Lab as Decarbonization Lead and co-founded and now leads the Remove Accelerator. Elektřina a plyn zlevňují.
Hello everyone,Today I'm happy to share a conversation and written Q&A with Will Thomson and Chip Russell of Massif Capital, a long-short fund in real assets, and particularly the “sectors most important to a low carbon economy: Energy, Basic Materials and Industrials.”I've long enjoyed their letters and white papers and used the Q&A to learn more about their process and worldview. With Russia's invasion of Ukraine I thought it was a good time to also catch up with Will and discuss how they navigate this environment (Will's baby daughter was also present for the first half of the conversation and happily commented at times
In today's episode we continue our investigation into the actual science behind the Earth's ever changing climate, continue to provide clear evidence to counter the bogus mainstream narrative, and examine whether renewable energy sources have a realistic potential to power our nations. Joining us today is Professor Fritz Vahrenholt. Prof Vahrenholt holds a PhD in chemistry and has been an Honorary Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Hamburg since 2009. Since 1969 he has been a member of the Social Democratic Party, where from 1976 until 1997 he served in various public positions with environmental agencies such as the Federal Environment Agency, the Hessian Ministry of Environment and as Deputy Environment Minister and Senator of the City of Hamburg. Przywołuje własne doświadczenia i opowiada o przeżytych lekcjach rozczarowania, pokory i odpowiedzialności w dążeniu do bycia dobrym przywódcą. Następnie piastowała stanowisko maklera papierów wartościowych (Wood and Company, Credit Suisse First Boston) oraz menedżera projektów strategicznych (DM BZWBK). W Grupie innogy pracuje od 2004 roku. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. MERCEDES EQS SPIED WITH AERODYNAMIC WHEELS "The luxury battery-powered sedan looks almost ready given the relatively low level of camouflage. However, we don’t expect to see the final production version of the EQS before the early months of 2021. the zero-emission S-Class equivalent should become the first electric model from Mercedes to arrive in the United States. It will be marketed as a direct competitor against the Tesla Model S and future electric BMW 7 Series and will be based on the brand’s large-car Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA) platform. It should be at the US dealers towards the second half of next year." says Motor1: " Mercedes has also hinted the most efficient versions of the EQS will have a single-charge range of up to 435 miles (700 kilometers) measured by Europe’s WLTP testing cycle. Interestingly, parts of the EQS will make an official debut later this week. Mercedes has teased its next-gen infotainment system before its premiere on January 7 during the 2021 digital version of the Consumer Electronics Show." https://www.motor1.com/news/464053/mercedes-eqs-spied-aero-wheels AUDI TO PRESENT FIRST ARTEMIS MODEL AT THE IAA "According to a media report, the concept for the first Audi model of the Artemis electric showcase project will be presented at the IAA this fall. There is also further information on the start of series production planned for the end of 2024 and possible offshoots in the VW Group." says electrive: "According to insiders, the vehicle will be a “sporty, elegant mix of Avant and four-door coupe”. The vehicle, which was developed by the Artemis taskforce outside the usual Audi organisation, as Artemis has been an independent company since December 2020 and is also expected to have offshoots at the Group brands Porsche and Bentley. Audi, Porsche and Ionity are said to have agreed on a joint fast-charging network “that will promptly pamper discerning customers with additional services such as a charging guarantee and with convenience features such as wireless-conductive charging.”" https://www.electrive.com/2021/01/04/audi-to-present-first-artemis-model-at-the-iaa/ VOLKSWAGEN ENDS PRODUCTION OF E-GOLF TO MAKE WAY FOR ID.3 "The last e-Golf, which was finished in Urano Grey, rolled off the automaker's Transparent Factory in Dresden a few days ago. The last model brings the total units of the e-Golf produced to 145,561. That figure makes the e-Golf one of the more popular EVs in Europe, especially in Norway and Germany." says FutureCar: "This marks an important milestone for VW. The automaker started manufacturing the e-Golf in 2014 at its Wolfsburg facility and expanded production of the vehicle to Dresden in 2017. Since 2017, the Dresden facility manufactured a total of 50,401 units of the e-Golf. Volkswagen ended production of the e-Golf at the Wolfsburg facility earlier this summer. With production of the e-Golf officially ending, VW can now set its focus onto the ID.3 hatchback. The Dresden factory will be retooled early next year to manufacture vehicles that utilize its Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB) platform. With the move, the all-electric ID.3 will now be manufactured at two locations." https://www.futurecar.com/4330/Volkswagen-Ends-Production-of-e-Golf-to-Make-Way-for-ID-3 VOLKSWAGEN HIRES UTILITY EXECUTIVE TO LEAD ELECTRIC CHARGING UNIT "Volkswagen has hired Elke Temme, a long-time executive at Germany’s top utility RWE, to head the carmaker’s newly created division for energy and electric vehicle charging, it said on Monday." reports Reuters: "Temme’s move is the latest illustration of the growing convergence of the autos and energy sectors amid an expected boom in demand for electric vehicles. Most recently, Temme was chief operating officer of Innogy eMobility solutions. Innogy was carved out from RWE in 2016 and later broken up in an asset swap with E.ON, which acquired the firm’s emobility activities in the process. She will be in charge of pooling and managing existing group activities in the fields of energy, charging services, charging equipment and charging infrastructure across all brands, Volkswagen said." https://uk.reuters.com/article/us-volkswagen-rwe-electric/volkswagen-hires-utility-executive-to-lead-electric-charging-unit-idUKKBN2991SZ?il=0 FORD MUSTANG MACH-E TO JOIN MICHIGAN POLICE FORCE "The Ann Arbor Police Department announced that it is adding two Ford Mustang Mach-E vehicles to its fleet. According to reports in local news, the Ann Arbor City Council has already approved the spending of some ~$93,000 for the two 2021 Mach-E police ponies." reports InsideEVs: "The Mach-E's are expected to arrive later in 2021 to replace two gas-powered fleet vehicles that have reached the end of their usable life. Labor contracts state police vehicles must be replaced at six years or 80,000 miles." Which reminds me of an electrek article last June: "A police chief who pushed to electrify his department’s patrol cars with Tesla Model 3 vehicles now says that the EVs might pay for themselves in less than two years. The Model 3 Standard Range Plus version that they bought is a little more expensive than the Dodge Charger at ~$41,000, but they expect gas savings of about $6,000 per year, which means that the Model 3 will pay for itself over its lifetime. They generally keep their vehicles for six years, and after they broke down the economics, they determined that they are going to save about $20,000 per car with the Model 3. It includes not only gas savings, but the police department is also expecting some significant maintenance savings." https://insideevs.com/news/464114/ford-mustang-mach-e-ann-arbor-police/ https://electrek.co/2020/06/30/tesla-model-3-police-cars-faster-roi-police-chief/ XPENG IS THE LATEST EV COMPANY TO REPORT POSITIVE DELIVERY NEWS "Chinese electric vehicle start-up XPeng reported strong fourth-quarter deliveries Sunday evening. The company delivered 5,700 vehicles in December 2020, up from 4,224 in November and up 326% compared with December 2019. For the entire fourth quarter XPeng delivered 12,964 vehicles." says Barron's. Whilst Fool.com said: "Since its launch in late June, the Xpeng P7 has become something of a hit product in the upscale-electric-vehicle niche that is catered to by rivals Tesla, NIO, and Li Auto in China. This time, it’s Massachusetts, and it’s aiming for a more electric-friendly state by 2035." says Jalopnik: "California and New Jersey have also proposed plans to achieve a similar goal, and it’s very likely we’ll see more states doing so in the near future. President-Elect Joe Biden has expressed his interest in electrification and environmentally-friendly transportation, which means states could see federal support for their initiatives." https://jalopnik.com/massachusetts-follows-california-bans-sale-of-new-gas-1845980321 NEW CLASS OF COBALT-FREE CATHODES "Oak Ridge National Laboratory researchers have developed a new family of cathodes with the potential to replace the costly cobalt-based cathodes typically found in today's lithium-ion batteries that power electric vehicles" according to Advanced Battery Research: "The new class called NFA, which stands for nickel-, iron- and aluminum-based cathode, is a derivative of lithium nickelate and can be used to make the positive electrode of a lithium-ion battery. These novel cathodes are designed to be fast charging, energy dense, cost effective, and longer lasting. Cobalt is a metal currently needed for the cathode which makes up the significant portion of a lithium-ion battery's cost. Not only does NFA perform as well as cobalt-based cathodes, but the process to manufacture the NFA cathodes can be integrated into existing global cathode manufacturing processes." https://www.advancedbatteriesresearch.com/articles/22675/new-class-of-cobalt-free-cathodes-for-next-gen-lithium-ion-batteries?rsst2id=3 100 E-BUSES IN TURIN "The first buses are set to arrive in April 2021. BYD is already present in Piedmont’s capital and in other cities in the region. The vehicles will be 12-meter standard battery-electric buses equipped for overnight charging." reports Sustainable Bus: "The total value of the framework agreement is 72 million euros. 48 million for the buses, 11 million for the 10-years full service. Further 13 million euros are allocated for the replacement of batteries, at the cost of 130,000 euros for each unit.
B2B Marketing - A Guidebook for the Classroom to the Boardroom
Tune-in and learn how social media today can be used intelligently and efficiently in the B2B sales process. In this coffe talk with Beatrice Uwe explores how to achieve goals and maintain customer relations with social selling in B2B. Beatrice explains her view on social selling and the challenges for this important for the B2B area. How can you enable your sales employees to use social media to increase their knowledge of customers and customer needs, to establish contact with relevant players and potential customers and to position themselves as topic experts in the pre-sales phase. The advantages for the company are many and varied, for example, high reach in the target groups, early presence with the customer, low financial expenditure, contact with important decision-makers and in complex buying centers. The prerequisite is that sales staff has an affinity for social media. This episode sheds light on a sales approach that has been investigated in academic research for quite some time now. With the further spread and use of the Internet and social media, this approach is gaining more interest and becoming more interesting for companies. From the practical side, the interest is also growing and it can be observed that social selling is increasingly used. Enjoy the vivid informal talk of Beatrice and Uwe and be surprised what kind of creative sympathetic hobby those two share. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/b2bmarketingguidebook/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/b2bmarketingguidebook/support

TESLA MODEL Y CUSTOMERS IN CANADA PREPARE FOR DELIVERY “Model Y reservation holders are seeing new fields to be filled in within their accounts online at Tesla.com. Tesla is asking for registrant type (one or two people or a company), registration address, trade-in details and also payment method for Model Y. Existing Tesla customers are most likely familiar with these steps, but for new customers, the process inches the process closer ahead of deliveries slated in June. For payment method, Tesla offers options for cash, a loan arranged through the company or a self-arranged loan. The placeholder annual percentage rate (APR) is noted as 4.6%, although after submitting a credit application with Tesla, this rate may change.” Says iPhone for Canada: “Last week, the Tesla retail location in West Vancouver confirmed the first Model Y deliveries in Canada would take place in June. Model Y currently starts at $75,990 in Canada for the Long Range All-Wheel Drive version, with the Standard range (rear-wheel drive) set to begin in “early 2021”, according to Tesla’s website.” Via Reddit: "Yay! Got the email I was waiting for today! Asked to upload driver's license, select trade-in and payment options! Model Y Performance / Performance Upgrade We're getting closer, fellow Canucks! " MODEL Y PRODUCTION CHANGED TO BEGIN 2022 FOR EUROPE "Last week when I checked, the Tesla Model Y production was set for begin 2021. Today I checked and it changed to begin 2022. I don't know if this is only for Belgium, but almost 2 years is very long imo." "Still says early 2021 when I try to configure for Switzerland." https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/comments/gyjfdn/model_y_production_changed_to_begin_2022_for/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf CANADA: PLUG-IN ELECTRIC CAR SALES INCREASED BY 50% IN Q1 2020 "Plug-in electric car sales substantially improved in Canada during the first three months of 2020, according to the report provided by Electric Mobility Canada. The total volume of all-electric (BEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and hydrogen fuel cell (FCVs) cars - although probably not many FCVs - amounted to 11,978, which is about 50% more than in Q1 2019 (7,999)." says InsideEVs: "It will be hard to improve from that point in Q2, as we know how devastating the COVID-19 lockdown was for the automotive market, but at least the plug-in market share will be high. Already, March brought a noticeable spike of 5.6% - the new all-time record. In terms of the most popular models - the Tesla Model 3 is second to none with 4,025 sales in Q1, more than three times above the 2nd best (Toyota Prius Prime). Top BEVs: Tesla Model 3: 4,025. Chevrolet Bolt EV: 1,031. Nissan LEAF: 701" https://insideevs.com/news/427255/canada-plugin-car-sales-q1-2020/ AUDI'S PLUG-IN HYBRID A6 GOES ON SALE COSTING JUST UNDER £53,000 "The order books have now opened for Audi’s new plug-in hybrid A6 executive saloon, which costs £52,790 in its cheapest guise. Dubbed the 50 TFSI e, the newcomer will offer an all-electric range of 34 miles per charge, while Audi hopes company car drivers will be enticed by the 10-percent Benefit-in-Kind tax rate." according to Motor1.com: "Initially available solely as a saloon, with an ‘Avant’ estate to follow later, the car comes with a 2-litre petrol engine and an electric motor to create a four-wheel-drive, four-door luxury car with 295 bhp. That means it can manage the sprint from nought to 62 mph in 5.5 seconds. Owners will also be able to take advantage of Audi’s e-tron charging service, which grants access to 18 charging networks across the UK and amalgamates all costs incurred in one monthly invoice." https://uk.motor1.com/news/427030/audi-a6-phev-saloon-pricing/ ELECTRIC PERFORMANCE CARS: WILL AN EV EVER REALLY DELIVER? "Can a real evo car really ever be powered by electricity? It's an argument that's been ranging between enthusiasts from all parts of the automotive world, but whichever side of the argument you find yourself on, the industry has had no choice but to cautiously go ahead develop them anyway." writes evo.co.uk: "The way a Tesla launches from a standstill will churn your stomach, but its real party trick is the way it responds with perfect linearity and imperceptible delay to movements of your right foot. To assume it’s all about straight lines is to do such response a disservice too – think instead of the accuracy to which you could adjust a car’s line mid-corner or over-rotate its rear tyres on the way out. Electrification means the end of being in the wrong gear for a corner (or worse, the car selecting one of umpteen wrong gears itself), and of wobbly torque curves. That’s without the potential offered by torque-vectoring set-ups too, something electric motors can do with greater fidelity and intensity than any conglomeration of differentials and clutch packs. Had technology stopped at some arbitrary point in the past we’d have been denied some amazing cars. We’d be denied some amazing EVs if we collectively decided now that internal combustion was all that mattered for the thrill of driving." https://www.evo.co.uk/features/202705/electric-performance-cars-the-pros-and-cons ABB PARTNERS WITH VIGOR SELECTS ABB AS PROPULSION AND ENERGY STORAGE PARTNER FOR HYBRID-ELECTRIC FERRIES "American shipbuilding company Vigor Fab LLC has selected ABB as the hybrid-electric propulsion and energy storage system provider for the newest additions to the Washington State Ferry fleet—the largest US ferry system." according to Green Car Congress: "The new Olympic Class ferries, which will have the capacity to carry 144 cars and 1,500 passengers each, mark a new era for the Washington State transport operator in the shift toward technologies that enable significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and fuel use. The new vessels will be able to fully operate on battery power and will have the capability to revert to hybrid mode, if required. The battery power can also extend zero-emissions capability along the supply chain by using renewables and hydroelectric power. Figures from trade association Interferry indicate that ferries transport 2.1 billion passengers and 250 million vehicles worldwide every year. As numbers increase, the sector is under pressure to meet International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) targets to reduce annual emissions by 30% by 2025." https://www.greencarcongress.com/2020/06/20200607-abb.html THIS EV BARGE CONCEPT TAKES BATTERY-SWAPPING TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL "A group of companies, including Wärtsilä, ING Bank, Engie, and the Port of Rotterdam Authority, launched a new consortium - the Zero Emission Services B.V. (ZES), with the goal to develop zero-emission inland waterway shipping in the Netherlands. The idea is to develop a fully electric barge with replaceable battery containers "ZESPacks", which would be able to go 50-100 km (31-62 miles) and then swap the pack... containers for a fully charged." says InsideEVs: "A single ZESPack would have a capacity of about 2 MWh, while the power needed by the arge is usually 500-1,000 kW. It means 2-4 hours of work between swaps. The cool thing about the concept is that it allows keeping the costs of barges under control (compared to a long-range version), allows use of renewable electricity and utilizes the ZESPack as energy storage for grid purposes when not in use for a while." https://insideevs.com/news/427049/ev-barge-concept-battery-swapping-zes/ ENEL X EXPANDED ITS EV CHARGING NETWORK TO OVER 30,000 PUBLIC CHARGING POINTS Enel X expanded its EV charging network to more than 30,000 public charging points, roughly a threefold increase from about 10,500 already available, by kicking off eRoaming connectivity with Dutch EV network operator Allego as well as Robert Bosch GmbH and German company Innogy. Under the framework of the Hubject e-mobility platform, this collaboration now allows Enel X JuicePass app users to fill up their EVs, without signing new contracts, in the charging points operated by Allego, Bosch and Innogy, on a network of more than 19,500 points in Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. Allego’s EU network has over 15,000 public charging points available via Hubject, over 1,000 of which are Fast (50 to 175 kW) and 200 are Ultra-Fast (175 to 350 kW), all installed in Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the UK. Similarly, the Innogy network has around 5,000 public charging points, 4,000 of them available via the Hubject network, of which 300 are Fast (50 to 175 kW). Bosch operates a network of around 550 charging points, also available via Hubject. The networks operated by both Bosch and Innogy are installed throughout Germany. Finanzen.Parkett - Aktien, Finanzen, Börse, Geld, Passives Einkommen
Aplikuje herný dizajn, behaviorálnu vedu a dizajnové myslenie, aby vytváral lepšie produkty, služby a spoločnosti. A to primárne v predaji a v marketingu.

How to speak about the magic of our human mind in a corporate environment? How to speak about it when the challenge your public is facing is real? When thousands of people are preparing mentally for a change they have not chosen, when they know it will have an impact on them and certainly on their work. An impact they cannot yet grasp. When in the room, there is not only lots of experience, expertise, positive attitude, chats and a beautiful sense of community but also of course maybe some kind of anxiety about the future. This was the context of the presentation I am sharing with you with the permission of the client. I have been asked to say some words about change and emotions during an IT Architect event in the context of the eon-innogy deal. There are so many ways I could have approached this issue that day, I have chosen not to beat around the bush. To address the subject directly, as I feel it. It has allowed for very open conversations during the day with various participants. I like it when the conversations are real!

A few weeks ago there was a blackout in New York City and it caused all sorts of problems: traffic and subway gridlock, people trapped in elevators, no working appliances or computers. It is really a window into what our life would look like if there weren’t abundant electricity everywhere. So today we talk with Macky McCleary, former Administrator of the RI Division of Public Utilities, current partner at Innogy consulting, and a senior fellow at the policy lab, about the future of energy. Listen in to hear about the impact of the changing energy grid on the climate and your everyday life. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Procter&Gamble, RWE, BMW Polska, Orange, Empik. Współpracuje z wieloma przedsiębiorstwami technologicznymi, startupami i korporacjami w ramach konferencji Wolves Summit z ponad 50 krajów i See Bloggers. W ciągu dwóch miesięcy wygenerowała przychód 800 tys. zł startując z nową marką od zera, a ponad 4 mln zł w ciągu pierwszego roku. Prowadzi ponad 30-osobowy zespół, w którym cały dział sprzedaży został od podstaw nauczony technik sprzedażowych zarówno do MiŚ jak i korporacyjnych klientów. Ambasadorka Przedsiębiorczości Kobiet. Wdrożyła globalnie eCommerce dla wszystkich marek P&G. Autorka podręcznika “The Sales Gate. Podsumowanie siebie, swoich dokonać w formie pisemnej daje jej dużo satysfakcji i nowej energii do kolejnych działań. The energy industry is undergoing an important transformation driven by the introduction of renewables, deregulation, and increased attention to climate impact. Experts from Chevron, innogy Ventures and Schneider Electric discuss how this shift is further fueled by the internet and new advances in cloud computing, IoT and big data; all of which leads to the decentralization of energy and power.
The Big 3 Innogy Innovation Hub was formed in 2014 and its first fund was supplied with €300m (roughly $385m at that point) from Innogy, but it has told GCV that it is getting ready to raise a second fund and is exploring partnerships with additional corporate LPs from the energy sector as well as potentially outside. … Continue reading "22 April 2019 – Pinterest and Zoom both Float Above Their Ranges"

As machines of all kinds become active participants in the economy, how will user experience strategy evolve to shape this new class of digital interactions? Kerstin Eichmann, managing director at Innogy Innovation, is working at the cutting edge of this challenge, helping one of Germany's oldest and largest energy companies imagine the future role it could play in users' lives. Epicenter - Learn about Blockchain, Ethereum, Bitcoin and Distributed Technologies
In the footsteps of the finance industry, the energy sector has been caught by the blockchain fever. Conceived over a century ago, increased usage and an explosion of devices have made energy grids outdated. Smart grids offer a two-way dialogue where electricity and information are exchanged between utilities and its customers. This new grid takes advantages of connected devices and green energy production to provide more reliability, security and sustainability. Carsten Stöcker, Senior Manager Machine Economy & Blockchain at Innogy, shares his vision for how blockchains will serve as the transactional fabric for tomorrow’s smart grids. In this new paradigm, energy is locally produced and blockchains provide the rails on which local energy marketplaces can be built. The German utility has been conducting blockchain experiments for several years and is soon releasing the Mobility Transaction Platform moveX. The Ethereum-powered platform will serve an ecosystem of electric vehicles with transaction layer needed for charging, car sharing and mobility as a service. Topics covered in this episode: Carsten’s background in technology The history of RWE and creation of Innogy Business models in a decentralized economy How the energy grid system works The transition from the traditional grid to the smart grid How blockchains can be integrated in tomorrow’s smart grids Use cases for blockchain and energy Innogy’s moveX blockchain experiment for mobility Episode links: innogy Innovation Hub World Economic Forum - Decentral Blockchain Transaction Platform Share and Charge - Mobility on Blockchain Blockcharge - Electric Vehicle Charging on Ethereum Blockchain Genesis of Things - Industry 4.0 on Blockchain "Automating Machine Transactions and Building Trust in the 4th Industrial Revolution" "Free Electrons" - a new global energy start-up program This episode is hosted by Brian Fabian Crain and Sébastien Couture. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In Brief: Imagine the security of a blockchain transaction with the speed and low cost of a packet of information sent through traditional infrastructure. This is what state channels can offer any blockchain. After finishing his work on the Co-tricity project (the ConsenSys run part of which is now Innogy), Ameen Soleimani, has turned his attention to state channels. State Channels are a design pattern in which signed messages representing transactions are exchanged between two parties. These parties can choose at any time to broadcast the last message to the blockchain, updating it to a state representative of the sum of all exchanges between the two parties. Sound complicated? Ameen does a great job of explaining the idea which offers a solution both to scaling and to blockchain privacy. The Raiden network is the most advanced instantiation of state channels currently in development. The Gnosis prediction market also uses state channels for its markets. This could well be the technology that defines 2017. Content: Ameen Soleimani, Arthur Falls
